as ive mentioned many times, every time i hang out with my friends i have a mini existential crisis. idk i feel like im either autistic, or immature, or pretentious, or too scared to face the real world. bc i don’t understand how people live their lives the way the do and how im supposed to function.
it hit me when i was with my two best friends yesterday and okay, best friend X lives and works in london, she has an office job. and it sounds like the most depressing thing in the world to me. bc she’s there from 9 to 5 (oftentimes more bc they never meet their deadlines), she doesn’t get payed a lot (which is fine bc her parents pay for rent so she’s not struggling or anything) and she says that every night she smokes/drinks with her boyfriend. the job itself sounds like hell, london is a shitty place to live, etc. etc. and yet she’s convinced that it’s the best place to be and that it’s fine.
and i don’t get it bc most of my former classmates moved to london. and now they have shitty jobs where all they do is write emails all day. and they’re all on drugs, no exception. and what’s the point of living like this? it’s obviously so unbearable since they all engage in some kind of unhealthy mechanisms (drinking wine and smoking weed every day, drugs on the weekends,...). and yet it’s seen as the norm.
and i really really don’t get it. they all went to prestigious universities, most of them are actually talented and capable people. yet now they work for soulless big companies in a soulless city. and sure, writing emails all day is annoying and repetitive, so you’re only being robbed of your time and not your energy. but even for those who have a kind of special skill, why would you work for a company that doesn’t care about you? and people overwork, stay longer hours, take shorter lunch breaks for what? for who? to afford more alcohol and drugs? your work doesn’t even belong to you! and no one seems bothered by that!
and then best friend Y said that he can’t wait to be done with his masters and start making big money. not to give too much away but his area is gonna be like finance/tech/trading etc. so imagine doing that for some big company every day. it’s so impersonal. and yet that doesn’t seem to bother him at all, he’s just excited to make money.
like i really don’t understand how people live like this. don’t you want to do something that belongs to you? are you not gonna feel robbed, spending 9 hours per day doing something for someone else? and, sure, money is necessary, but working at a soulless office sounds like torture. won’t it feel like you’re wasting your life away?
like, really, i don’t understand any of it. maybe it’s my post-soviet background idk. my parents never worked in the traditional sense of the word. they did some stuff in the 90s and then my dad started doing shady business in montenegro. and my mum and my step dad have their own second hand store and also an IT business. no one in my entourage had ever worked for a company. and it makes more sense to me. you do your own thing, you earn money, you own the things you do.
but if i want to live like this, what the hell am i studying for? i picked the most employable major, people keep telling me that i have the chance of having a great career bc i speak 4 languages, have a lot of soft skills yadayada... but i just can’t see the purpose of having a traditional career. like what’s the point? im the only one in my circle who doesn’t do drugs/smoke and i don’t want to. ive already struggled with depression bc i felt like i wasn’t in control of my life and i don’t want to find myself in a situation where i literally have no control over my work. but i can’t just do business. that would be a waste of potential, right? my mum didn’t come all the way here for me to be a store manager. i feel like i have to work at a bank or something.
i don’t know. as i have said, either i have something missing in my brain that’s supposed to make you understand how the world works. or im in my “im 14 and this is deep” phase and none of what i said holds any value bc it’s just immature. or im too arrogant and think im too good for society and feel special. or im super insecure and too scared to leave my cocoon and enter the adult world. i don’t know. but it’s all making me anxious.

What do you think Killua's training consisted of? And you think he got the same amount of torture training as his siblings? I'm a little confused because It's hard to think of how the Zoldyck family would set up their assassin training. Thanks!
Hello! This is another of those Zoldyck questions where canon doesn't give us the clearest answers, but I'll put together what I can and try to make reasonable guesses with the rest! A lot of it remains mysterious, and I don't think it's likely we'll get significantly more clarity as the series goes, though I certainly could be wrong.
First off, my assumption is that there's a whole complicated process that the Zoldyck kids go through in their training, most likely something that's been refined for generations. If you look at how complicated even the system with the butlers is (the Zoldycks even have a school for butlers on their property!) for instance, I can only imagine how thoroughly set up and well thought out the training is for the kids. However, I'm guessing this is something that can be adjusted to account for individual differences, and it may involve trial and error as well.
(One of my reasons for saying this is it feels to me like Illumi and Milluki were treated somewhat differently--I think it's possible Illumi didn't turn out how they hoped with extremely strict training as the eldest child, and it might have messed him up, and then they ended up being "too lax" on Milluki after that. You could argue it's just personality differences, but to me they feel like the results of too strict/not strict enough upbringing in a way that may be intentional.)
We know that Killua learned and mastered darts as part of his training. The kids are likely taught skills like this that will apply to assassination techniques and train their coordination/depth perception/etc., probably as a lead-up to more intensive/hands on training.
We also know Killua has been taught to resist poison and electricity. With the poisons, I think they were added to their foods in small increments that increased over time, and with the electricity it was probably similar in the sense that they were shocked more and more intensely over time until they had a higher tolerance for it. This probably applied to other things as well--pain tolerance as a whole, going without sleep, other forms of tolerance (heat, cold, holding their breath, just off the top of my head?) that might be useful as assassins.
I'm sure there was extensive physical training of multiple kinds, including training with weights similar to what we saw in the butlers' quarters perhaps, and probably some sort of schooling on the family history, physiology of the human body, and assassination techniques, among other subjects. I'm sure the kids receive a thorough education, both in the assassin sense and in general.
We also know Killua was at Heavens Arena for two years, from ages 6 to 8, and he was left without any money. It's actually surprising to me that the assumed heir of the family (if he was deemed such by then, we don't know that for sure) was left there, but if I were to guess probably Gotoh or someone accompanied him, though canon doesn't say anything about this. (Or at the very least someone must have been tailing him/monitoring him without his awareness, there's no way they weren't keeping an eye on him.)
It's disturbing to think about, but I wonder if the Zoldycks would somehow obtain people that they could sacrifice to training the kids early on in their training process. Maybe death row inmates or something? We've seen a lot of questionable human rights in the HxH world, so it wouldn't surprise me. We also know for instance that love affairs between the butlers are punishable by death, so things like that could potentially be a source of people for the kids to learn on...
I assume after a certain point in their training/at a certain age, the kids would move on to actually taking on lower rank assassination jobs and learn directly through that. Canon has mentioned a few times that Killua has killed a fairly large number of people (though no actual numbers are given) and he refers to himself as a professional assassin, so maybe this started after he got back from Heavens Arena or something like that?
There also must be a timeline for when the kids start to learn nen as well. We know Killua hasn't learned about nen by the time he rebels and escapes, so it's possibly something the kids learn when they're a bit older, perhaps once the family deems that they've mastered the other aspects of the training. They may have been holding off on teaching Killua about nen to keep him under control as well, with the help of Illumi's needle.
Tumblr media
There does seem to be a certain level of favoritism towards Killua in the Zoldyck family due to his talents. We know he's favored to some degree by at least Silva, Kikyo, and Zeno, and he receives preferential treatment from them. Zeno in particular is described as being soft towards him (we see this within the series itself as well), and Zeno employs Gotoh and Canary, who are the only butlers Killua truly trusts.
Again, there's no way to know when Killua was deemed the heir, but I do assume he was given more attention than the rest of his siblings as a result. I can't decide if his position in the family means he would have gotten stricter or less strict training overall, more likely a mixture of both. On one hand, he was likely held to a higher standard, and on the other hand, it was probably easier for him to meet those standards, so they may not have had to push him as hard. His cockiness and behavior at the beginning of the series makes me think he was praised a lot, and he was used to succeeding and being superior to his siblings. Of course, regardless his upbringing was clearly very traumatic and difficult for him.
I hope this is helpful! A lot of it is guesses, but I think they're at least educated guesses based off canon. Even though it's left vague, there's still a lot to this topic, so I may have overlooked some aspects, but I did my best to give a thorough response within reason. If anyone thinks of things to add on, feel free. Thanks for asking!

Democrats Go After George Santos
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), Jan. 15, 2023.--Calling for 34-year-old Rep.George Santos’ (R-N.Y.) resignation, House Democrats try to pressure House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-N.Y.), hoping to pick up one more seat in Congress.  Santos fabricated or exaggerated parts of his background, annoying both Democrats and Republicans but could not stop Sanstos from getting sworn in Jan. 5, along with other 222 Republicans in the House.  When you consider Santos latch-key background, immigrating from Brazil, raised by a single mother, learning the language and competing in the American school of hard knocks, it’s remarkable he’s still alive let alone a member of Congress.  Santos is a classic case of fake-in-till-you-make it, a kind of immigrant success story, despite the factual inaccuracies about his educational and work histories.  At the same time, many politicians, including the current White House occupant, has made up plenty of stories.
President Joe Biden, 80, did not graduate in the top of his Syracuse Law School class, more at the bottom.  Biden did not march with the late Nelson Mandela to end apartheid in South Africa but often tells people  he did.  When Joe visited South Africa in the 1980s, Mandela was serving 25-year sentence in Robben Island prison.  Yet Biden, while running for president in 2020, touted his time spent with Mandela. Many other Democrat and Republicans elected officials have fabricated or made up parts of their resumes, including former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.  She once told a 2016 campaign audience, while First Lady in 1978, her helicopter was strafed with bullets entering Sarajevo during the Bosnian-Serbian War.  Santos exaggerated more because he came from a poor background without to much excitement other than making ends meet.
Growing up in poverty with high ambitions can create an Imposter Syndrome, where a struggling person starts to believe their own fiction, regardless of how preposterous or exaggerated.  So, before Democrats condemn Santos with so much venom they need to consider his upbringing, recognize that his constituents did voter for him due to his resume but because they liked his positive message and persona.  “I haven’t even introduced my self to him because it’s pretty despicable lies that he told,” said Republican James Comer (R-Ky.), Chairman of the House Oversight Committee. “But at at the end of the day, it’s not to me or any other member of Congress to determine whether he could be kicked out for lying.  Now if he broke campaign finance laws, then he will be removed from Congress,” Comer said.  Some Democrats already complained how Santos lent his campaign $705,000.
As Comer said, its investigators can’t account for the $705,000 personal loan to his campaign, then appropriates steps can be taken to verify whether any campaign finance laws were broken.  In the meantime, as Comer said, it’s up of Santo’s constituents to decide what, if anything, to do about his fabricated resume.  “He’s a bad guy.  This is something that—it’s really bad.  He’s not the first politician, unfortunately, to make it in Congress, to lie,” Comer said, letting the press know that Republicans are also concerned about his fabrications.  Comer, as many other members of Congress, know nothing about an Imposter Syndrome, where an individual believes his own fiction, becomes so much a part of his personality that he can’t detect lies from the truth.  So, when it comes to someone dealing with Santos, elected officials must at least consider how Imposter Syndrome affects Santos reality.
Most liberal media outlets want Santos out so they can run another Democrat for the seat.  But the problem is more complicated that just spreading lies on a resume but considering the whole package.  “He’s going to be under strict ethics investigations, no necessarily for lying but for his campaign finance potential violations,” said Comer.  Comer wanted the press to know that it’s not up to members of Congress to correct his biography for the record.  That’s up to historians and other investigators that want to get the record straight.  “So I think that Santos is being examined thoroughly.  It his decision whether or not he should resign, It’s not my decision.  But certainly I don’t approve of how he made his way to Congress,” Comer said.  Democrats and members of the press see an opportunity for another Democrat to step into Santos seat, one less seat to make up in the 2024 election.
Members of Congress and the press need to look into the Imposter Syndrome before they try to tar-and-feather 34-year-old Rep. George Santos.  His story defies all the odds, growing up in poverty, but, more importantly, not having the opportunity or money to go a normal path through the education or work systems.  Santo told people his mother worked her way up from the bottom to become a corporate executive, part of his fiction to bolster his damaged self-esteem.  All accounts show his mother, who brought him from City of God, a slum outside Rio de Janeiro, to Queens worked as a domestic help. Whatever Santos had to tell himself to keep from giving up, he managed, in spite of the odds, to succeed by developing his Imposter Syndrome.  Members of Congress and the press need to cut him some slack in what constitutes one of the remarkable immigrant stories in U.S. history.  Whether he violated campaign finance laws is another story.  Before that’s determined, he’s a member of Congress..

imperial life (sorta)
life within the empire is very structured. it’s a society where everyone Knows Their Place and what they’re supposed to be doing.
for ex. there is a certain “life schedule” that imperial citizens are expected to adhere to.
ages:
0-5, raised by family as infants. sent to daycare during toddler years.
5-10, primary school. begin basic education.
10-15, junior school. continue education.
15-20, senior school. start some training alongside education.
20-25/30, MANDATORY SERVICE TIME.
25/30+, marriage and having children encouraged and you can live your life.
now after an individual completes their mandatory time actively serving, they can either continue to serve or return to other jobs and functions in the empire.
so you can have someone who was a foot soldier or sniper during their service time, but then return to “civilian” life as a florist or school teacher.
the sith follow a similar “life schedule”.
ages:
0-5, raised by family and like minded peer groups.
5-10, primary academy. basic training and education.
10-15, secondary academy. continued training and education.
15-20, preparatory academy. continued training and education.
20+, sith academy (proper) and from there, it depends on the individual sith’s master and rank.
tho the purebloods have a tendency to marry their children off after at the age of 20 (or young 20s) in hopes of procuring grandchildren (and therefore, securing family legacies) before anything... unfortunate happens.
another aspect of imperial life that is deeply entrenched within the civilization but never talked about too openly is the caste system.
everyone in the empire, sith or slave, is shoved into one of these castes. it is possible to move UP and DOWN. moving upward requires marrying someone of a higher caste, but ppl usually (tho not always!) stick to and marry within their own castes. moving down tends involves committing a crime and being punished for it, or disownment from family.
there are certain advantages of being a part of upper castes. which include, but are not limited to:
wider access on the holonet
higher pay
more options for housing
priority healthcare
less restrictions on travel
etc.
the two main groups the castes fall into are sith and imperial. obvs the sith castes are above the imperial ones.
castes among the sith are categorized by “blood purity” and family lineages. the older, purer bloodlines that can trace their roots to korriban are seen above sith who might not have such a heritage.
pureblood, greater families
pureblood, lesser families
human, greater families (usually have some pureblood family members as well)
human, lesser families (usually all human)
human, common (usually an individual that comes from a non-sith background that found sensitivity in the force)
alien
imperial castes on the other hand are categorized by “occupation” rather than bloodlines.
officers. self explanatory. within this caste the officers follow the rank order. ie, moff > captain.
healers. ppl who can help and heal others. doctors, psychiatrists, therapists, etc.
scholars. those who spend their time studying, researching, or teaching. scientists, philosophers, lawyers, professors, etc.
protectors. internal security of the empire. police type, firefighters, paramedics, emergency responders, imperial intelligence, etc.
farmers. self explanatory, also includes breeders (for fancy pets and vanity animals).
crafters. for those who MAKE or design things. artists, architects, engineers, cooks, tailors, etc.
traders. folks who buy and sell things or deal with money frequently. business people, vendors, bank folk, accountants etc.
entertainers. mostly performers of some type. actors, musicians, athletes, sex workers, etc.
cleaners. those who deal with trash or bodies. janitors, butchers, housekeepers, manicurists, waste management, groomers, etc.
casteless. ironically named, but still technically a caste. includes non citizens that may be visiting or traveling through, new imperial citizens, or disowned (usually non force sensitive) sith.
slaves. self explanatory.
in the old, old sith empire (pre arrival of exiles), the sith also had a ruler and priest caste. it can be argued that the two were simply merged into the modern sith grouping and all of their castes within.
as far as any that might be lawmakers and where they’d fit in. that’d be the dark council with some occasional input from very high ranking officers like the grand moff.
so in theory(!), anyone can move up or down the caste ladder. in reality it’s very rare and ppl are often born into one caste and simply live their life within its confines and die. but ppl across the entire caste system can and do work together frequently.
an ex is the sw and crew.
Tumblr media
akrona is not only sith, but a pureblood from a greater family. making her one of the most privileged and (potentially) influential ppl in the empire.
quinn comes from a family of officers and they’ve all been at the relative top of imperial society for generations. even after his court martial he’s considered to be very lucky to have remained in the same caste.
Tumblr media
pierce actually comes from farmers but managed to be promoted to an officer during his time in service. but since he wasn’t born into it, quinn some officers have an obvious bias against him for his position.
vette, being a freed slave is casteless. tho thx to having a sith benefactor and friend, she can get away with a lot more than others within her same social standing.
some notes under the read more since i KNOW you ppl don’t go to the op to read my darn tags! >,< lol
so... i know. i KNOW i didn’t list literally every single conceivable job that exist or could exist. you’ll have to excuse me on that lol.
and in case it wasn’t obvious, yes, i used my sw and my own hcs for the crew. NO, i am NOT saying that quinn dislikes pierce ONLY bc of “lower caste upbringing”. just that it’s one of many factors of tension between the two.
and regardless of caste, every citizen* in the empire is guaranteed food, shelter, water, and medical care. but obvs those in the upper castes would be eating the fanciest~ of feasts in their big ass floating mansions while the lower castes live off of ration bars and street food while living in small, utilitarian apartments. *does not include slaves since they are technically not citizens.
i am once again here to remind you that the empire is NOT
a democracy
capitalist
or a utopia
(but if for some reason you wanna make your empire all those things, go for it. i ain’t stopping you lol.)
but why castes?
bc it was an aspect of the ancient sith In Canon and thought i’d tinker with the concept.
Tumblr media
lastly! i stfg...
IF YOU THINK ME MAKING A HC/WORLDBUILDING POST REFLECTS UPON MY MORALITY OR HOW I THINK A SOCIETY SHOULD BE RUN...
YOU HAVE NEXT LVL BRAIN ROT.
also, yes, you can use any/all concepts in whatever way you see fit if you want. you can also, ignore the whole thing!

Merit Based System
This is a bit all over the place. Sorry about that. I watched a show this weekend that really illustrates why I no longer believe in Edelgard's system after her support with Ferdinand.
Spoilers for Fire Emblem Three Houses CF route and Edelgard & Ferdinand's support and the show Segodon up to episode 8.
Segodon is a taiga drama that retells the life of historical figure Saigo Takamori a. k. a. the last samurai. This man was a brilliant politician and played an instrumental role in Japan's tumultuous 1800s where they overthrew the shogun and instated a modern government. The show itself is absolutely fantastic so far (though, I love anything to do with the Bakumatsu, no, that's a lie, there's some real shitty Bakumatsu anime.).
Like the real life Saigo, the fictional representation has a lot of "merit." As the show writes him, he has a high level of empathy for people who are hurting because of Japan's horrible, outdated systems and is constantly does whatever is in his power to convince the powers that be to back off a bit because their taxes and punishments are so harsh at times, his native Satsuma was at serious risk of starving its entire agricultural force out of work.
Not only is Saigo intelligent, but he's also tenacious. He "dares" to ask his "betters" to see the errors of their way, goes out of his way to try and get audiences with people far above his station, and does everything he possibly can to help everyone around him. Whether he's tackling problems with a larger system or a hurting individual around him, he's trying his best to make things right. And when people listen to him, things improve. People are also naturally drawn to his leadership and overall gentle disposition.
He's also broke.
Saigo comes from a very poor, very large family. So when the powers that be grant him an opportunity to travel to Edo (then capital of Japan), where he could get real experience, where he could start rubbing shoulders with the right people and find ways to gain influence, learn, etc . . . He can't. Because his family can't cough up 30 ryo.
No matter how much merit Saigo has, his upbringing keeps him from reaching his full potential. The top leadership of the area invites him to the opportunity of a life time, but even with an open invitation, he can't so easily accept it.
His mother, father, and grandfather had all just died (and this is a historical fact, at least) and left him in charge. The family went into even more debt buying medicine during various illnesses. There's younger and elder family he needs to look out for, a sister who he now needs to find a husband for, and a new wife on top of everything else. They don't have 30 ryo to spare.
No matter how much merit Saigo has, no matter how much he wants to make a difference, he can't. Because he was born into poverty, because he can't afford to step away from the family land or else risk running out of food in the winter. His merit isn't enough. You need privilege. And he's already got privilege in that he wasn't born a farmer, that he has the personal attention of those in charge through connections and channels his family name permitted him, he's already jumped over hurdles others can't - and he still can't take advantage of his merit.
A merit based system benefits those who have and punishes the have nots. All the rich kids with rich parents who don't have to think twice about spending 30 ryo and have servants to take care of the elderly and young in their families. They can take every opportunity so the gap widens even further. Even worse, a merit based system tells the people born poor, born sick, born neurologically divergent, born into an abusive family, born into a historically disadvantaged race/gender/sexuality/etc, etc . . . that it's their fault they're not at the top. That if they just "tried harder" and had "more merit" they could make it. You too could be a billionaire if you just pulled on your bootstraps hard enough, and failure means you didn't try hard enough. And, yes, this is very much happening in our culture today.
That Edelgard didn't even consider something as huge as inequality before starting a war that would kill thousands really shocked me. Her support with Ferdinand exposed just how naive she is and how narrow-minded her world-view and experiences are. If she's going to sacrifice thousands of people for her supposedly better system, I wish she'd put at least some thought into it.
I do not expect a Fire Emblem game to get hyper-political or into nitty-gritty details. Honestly, I wish this support didn't exist. If their A-Support focused just on educational reform or even Ferdinand cementing himself as a actual check/rival to Edelgard, then I'd be more willing to believe she could make a good leader. But, for some reason, they decided to use this support to show how little Edelgard actually thought about her actions despite the dire consequences of them. These details aren't needed. These lines could be completely omitted and let the reader imagine Edegard has the political know-how to actually pull what she wants off. But instead the game went out of it's way to show she doesn't really have a single clue what she's talking about, and I cannot fathom why. This isn't even touching on her admitting it didn't even occur to her that her actions would leave a power vacuum and would need to fill it (like - what -), but that's for another day.
THIS is why I can't get behind Edelgard. Because her merit based system isn't worth all the lives she destroyed in her war. She thinks her ideas are worth everyone that dies, but her ideas aren't well thought out. This episode 8 of Segodon illustrated perfectly why Edelgard's system is a house of cards that will do nothing but pat the nobility and otherwise rich and privileged on the back while blaming farmers and otherwise disadvantaged for their continued poverty because "lack of merit."
I honestly can't express how badly I wish these lines in this support didn't exist. It serves no purpose except to expose Edelgard's lack of forethought and lack of understanding about the lives of the people she's claiming she's making better.
But, yeah, watching this episode just made me think about Edelgard's system and reminded me again of the exact moment I gave up on supporting her war.
(spoiler alert about Segodon: all those people he kept helping scrounge together 30 ryo so he can go to Edo and leaves the lands in charge of his younger brother, and yes, he's going to go down in history, but also . . . prepare for a downer ending if you actually watch this (I mean . . . it's the Bakumatsu). I already know I'm going to cry my fucking eyes out and I haven't even meant this version of Sakamoto Ryoma yet)

I love Esteban and Senora Paloma! What do you like bout em in particular?
Mmm, well within the show they have all the makings of a great telenovela slap slap kiss relationship with their constant bickering, but even in spite of that bickering you see in All Kingdoms Fair Esteban doesn’t truly want to hurt her. But he doesn’t want to be soft so he goes poke her one more time. Really their whole relationship is them getting on each other’s nerves which I choose to interpret as unresolved sexual tension. Furthermore, they’re just so similar. The way they try to act all superior to overcompensate their deep insecurities. They can get each other. Outside of canon, or pre canon as it may be, there is so much potential to imagine them working years together under Shuriki. Working under a ruthless dictator under joyless conditions, day and night for someone who takes all the credit. Trying their best to improve economic infrastructure to provide something better for Avaloran citizens, you cannot convince me they didn’t bond or form good memories from that. That’s why they think they knew best during Incredibly Shrinking Royals, trying to reclaim their old spots at the trade table. They had to rely on each other and trust each other to be able to work so well together, they made Avalor one of the best in trade that way. Which again, relates to how they’re similar. They have the same ideas about tradition, propriety, formalities and how to conduct such business which is why both were initially resistant to Elena’s new way of ruling.
Now they also have their differences, which like any good relationship can help them learn and become better. Esteban has a family, one whom he cares for deeply and he could maybe pry her heart away from the lure of gold to the warmth of family again. While she, with her sometimes irrational prejudiced against Royals, can bring him down when he’s being too pompous about his Royal upbringing and education. And yeah, that’s all I got from the top of my head but honestly I love them and their potential and could go on all day😊

Someone flirts with you in front of them: Shay, Edward, Shaun.
Shay Cormac: Y/n's father had hired a new assistant undertaker at the funeral home, a one Mr. Ronald McFinley he was an average looking brown hair, gray eyes freckles and a somewhat spoiled man from a upper-middle class upbringing, His parents had asked (begged) Y/n's father to take him on as an apprentice as favor due to Ronald being barred from other medical education and practices.
*e.I. he's a spoiled brat who thinks he knows everything.*
Mr.L/n reluctantly agreed to take him on the Scotsman wasn't a bad worker but he wasn’t a good one either as Mr L/n or and another worker would have to fix any mistakes he had made in his haste and  laziness.
Another thing that started to show was Ronald's very obvious affections for the undertaker's pretty daughter Y/n, often starring at her from afar or slacking in his studies daydreaming about an imaginary life together, he'd often abandon his post at work just to waste time and talk her.
The young y/ec woman however found him annoying she had a dislike for men like Ronald flashy, rich and obnoxious. men who only wanted a woman like herself; simply because she's pretty.... not because of her personality or her intelligence, No... Men like Ronald just want a pretty little ornament to hang off his arm and make babies for him.
Evident by the expensive gifts, clothes and money he would flash at her in hopes she'd swoon into his arms and every time she would send it back and every time she would say "No." each time Ronald would never get the hint.
That was until Shay came home, it seemed like any other day, Ronald was slacking in his studies trying again trying vain to get Y/n's affection and hand which her father had rejected when the young Scotsman had asked for his permission to marry her, it's was a silver and pearl necklace this time.
He cleared his throat to get the y/ht woman's attention and she sighed rolling her eyes waiting for his "My lovely or dear Y/n" spiel again only to noticed someone come in the funeral home someone who Y/n greatly missed tears welled in her eyes as a happy smile slowly found it's way on her face.
Ronald not seeing the man behind thought he'd finally done it and won Y/n's heart opened his arms wide thinking she was going to leap into his arms with happiness instead he was blindsided when she shoved him aside and tearfully called out
"Shay!" and watched as she ran into the arms of a very large dark haired stranger dressed in black with a scar on his face the gray eyed man stared slack jawed as the object of his affection pulled this "Shay" into a passionate kiss before pulling away eyes locked lovingly on each other.
Only for their moment to be broken by a seething Ronald who cleared his throat getting their attention, Y/n's mood dropped having her reunion with her lover interrupted. "Oh... still here um...Roy?" Ronald blinked in disbelief one kiss with this filthy street dog, and she couldn't remember his name?! a vein appeared on the Scotsman's neck.
"Ronald Howard McFinley." he hissed venom dripped on every word as he glared daggers at Shay who looked like he was about to say something only for Ronald suddenly reach out and slap him with a glove. "And challenge you... to a duel!?!?" he screamed as Y/n and Shay looked at each other than at Ronald"Are you serious?" the Irishman snorted but the brown haired man started rambling pistols at dawn and all that, before Shay sighed calmly lifted  his left hand like he was going to ask a question.
Ronald quieted down to hear what the Irishman had to say only to get a palm-Strike to the forehead knocking Ronald flat on his arse, the gray eyed man rolled around on the floor holding his forehead and wailing all while the couple shook their heads at the spectacle.
"I thought your father was exaggerating, when he wrote you were being tormented by a man-child." Shay said as they stepped over the rolling man, Y/n clung to his arm affectionately. "Oh, Shay you know my father's bad at jokes." she stated as they when to somewhere private to be reacquainted. From then on, Ronald. Who was sporting a ridiculous bruise on his forehead started behaved himself and take his job seriously (Shay had few words with him) stayed away from Y/n and was best warn any other potential suitors of her scary husband to be.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Edward:
They weren't together per say... mainly due to Edward's wife Caroline and Y/n respected that boundary no matter how much it hurt, But that still didn't stall the bubbling rage Edward felt the second redheaded man sat down next to Y/n taking up much of her attention away from him, he watched at the man said something that made his lass laugh...
Edward's lips curled into a snarled and averted his eyes to look at his ale not even paying attention to the barmaid who kept trying to get him to look at her and left in a huff when Edward wouldn't budge, Then Edward noticed something was askew in Y/n's voice her laughter seemed tight and forced, Edward swallowed pride and looked back at the the Y/hc who disappeared from her original spot he scanned the tavern and found her a few tables down from his, he grimaced seeing the y/nat woman squirming in in her seat as she shrugged the red haired man's arm off her for what seemed to be the umpteenth time on her end.
The assassin Y/n tried move away Red would follow her and plant himself right next to her. Finally Edward had enough the next time Y/n went to find somewhere to sit the assassin nodded at a few of his crew to sit up and start walking around in a cluster effectively blocking Red's view of Y/n.
Edward took this opportunity to grab her arm and pulled Y/n into his lap and shushed her, just as his men sat back down, they sat back to chest as Edward's larger frame hid Y/n from the Red haired man who looked around the tavern confused before noticing Edward.
"Oy mate you see where that tarty bar wrench went?" Y/n felt a growl rumble in Edward's chest Next thing she knew Adéwalé had lifted her out of Edwards lap she heard Red let out a girly "Eep!" as the blond pirate suddenly grabbed him by his collar and had pinned to the counter down by the back of his neck.
"That Lady is named Y/n and she no wrench, if I see you any of your friends near her again." Edward unsheathed his hidden blade and lowered it towards the red haired man's crotch. "I will cut your instruments off and feed em' to a shark, do you understand?"
Red went ghost white and nodded before Edward threw him of the counter. "Good. Now get out of my sight!" the blond hissed retracting his blade Red did as he was told before Edward grabbed his tankard gulped down his ale and got Y/n out of that tavern and back to the Jackdaw to help Y/n get Red's stench of her.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Shaun: Takes place in AC III:  before heading to the temple the Assassin's had stopped off in a very small rural town that acted as a base for the american assassin branch almost everyone in this town was an Assassin. Reader is a Civilian who got pulled into their group by accident.
They were in the laundromat/pizza parlor waiting for food and their spare clothes to dry, when Rebbeca alerted Shaun to Y/n's situation seems his girlfriend (no matter how much he denies it) has attracted a very unwanted guest, Shaun looked up from his lap top to see what Rebecca was prattling on about to see Y/n at her washing machine being hounded by a pimply faced teen who looked 16-19 years old who was getting very lewd and grabby with his unwanted flirting.
Desmond shot the British man a look and mumbled "say something to the little creep!" a Shaun lips formed a thin line as he observed them for a moment before going back to his computer seemingly not caring what was happening, Rebecca and Desmond were taken aback by this seemingly cold act  they wondered if they had it wrong and that Shaun and Y/n weren't together?
Desmond was about to go scare the guy off, when Suddenly there was a shriek Y/n's back was pressed up the machine she held her arms against her chest, her bra strap were slipping of which pretty much told her friends that the perv had unhooked and tried to pull her bra off, Desmond got up  only for Shaun to speed walk passed him with an eerily calm look on his face.
Rebecca and Desmond watched Shaun take his jacket off give it Y/n before turn to the teen who took a swing at the bespectacled assassin who dodged grabbed the boy's free arm spun him around pinned him to the wall, Shaun had the boy arm twisted painfully around his back. The blond's face was still eerily calm as he whispered something to the boy who's face contorted into horror before Shaun let him go the boy ran out of the Laundromat.
Shaun check on Y/n  who went back her laundry and went back to Rebecca and Desmond who were gawking at the brit curiously. "What...What ya say to the little creep?" Rebecca dared to ask as Desmond went over Y/n to keep watch while awkwardly eyeing Shaun.
"I told Carmen Schultz, if he didn't back off now I was going to break into his house; 7555 Dune street , and I was going scope out his eyes with a melon-baller and then his rich parents would have to get him a eye pig to dragged his blind ass around town."
"Why a pig?"
"He's allergic to dogs."
"...Okay, I'm going to write a reminder for D to never to hit on Y/n."
Shaun just huffed and went back to his research as William returned from the the used car-lot with their new van.

A Fantasy AU (Broken) WIP Written Months Ago Involving Marianne, Charles, & Child Lelouch -- Part of the Prologue
Marianne smirked at the thought of how unbecoming her idea of fun was. The other ladies of such an austere Court would have branded this inappropriate and ‘unlady-like’. Not that any one of them would have the guts to say that to her face. As Consort to one of the most powerful men in the world, she didn’t have the time to concern herself with the trivial and snooty opinions of the aristocrats.
Besides, there wasn’t anything wrong about personally supervising your son’s education on the way of the sword. She would have taken over his instruction herself. But alas, certain traditions had to be followed and respected -- even if she found them completely ridiculous.
Sighing wistfully, the Queen Consort carefully arranged the folds of her tailored gown, sitting in the shade of a canopy while one of her handmaidens stood behind. She kept a sharp ear on the clacking of clashing wood, her son’s grunts and impassioned yells, and the careful shuffling of feet on dirt.
“That’s it. Good. Don’t lunge yet. Step lighter.” Lord Andreas Darlton side-stepped a clumsy slash. The Prince yelped as he fell on his knees, wooden sword still tightly grasped in his hand as the shield tumbled to the dust. “Keep your shield up, Your Highness. You don’t-- Agh!”
Lord Darlton stumbled backwards, rubbing his eyes to rid them of sand. A handful thrown on his face by one determined and relentless child. Was the Prince this desperate for victory that he’d purposely discard fairness and honor? Marianne did her best to suppress a quiet laugh and an amused smile, watching her son as he moved on to snagging his chance. He whacked the Master of Arms on the elbows, the sides, and the knees.
“Your Highness, such unscrupulous tactics are below you.” Darlton coughed, gratefully accepting the damp towel one of the squires rushed to give him. He wiped his face and caught a glimpse of the Crown Prince’s chastised expression, wooden sword hidden behind his back as he hung his head. “A man fights with honor, extending respect even to his enemies--”
“I reckon that’s enough sword practice for today, Lord Darlton.” The Queen Consort of Britannia brushed invisible dust from her dress as she approached them and her distraught son.
“As you command, Your Majesty.”
Without words of protest, he acknowledged the Queen’s command once more with a respectful bow, extending the same gesture to the Crown Prince as well. Mother and son watched the lord leave with his squires and his aide-de camp, and Marianne waited until he was well out of earshot to address the young Prince, who in this stretch of time, gathered up his wooden weapons and put them away.
“Am I in trouble?” Lelouch asked, a tiny hint of meekness hidden in his voice, overshadowed by the obvious pride in his person.
Marianne raised an eyebrow. “No, of course not, my Prince. What compels you to think so?”
To his own credit, the boy did his best to suppress the surprise. He wasn’t going to be sentenced to stay in his room all day? “I cheated.”
A boy of eight. He still had so much to learn, but she was glad that he was on the right path. He thinks practically too, prioritizing self-preservation over tacky notions of ‘honor’ in a battlefield. Lelouch vi Britannia with his dust-stained face and grime-covered clothes. A ruler-in-training, she liked to call him in the privacy of her own mind.
“That wasn’t cheating, my love. You were smart.” Crouching just enough to be at his level, she brushed some dirt from his cheek -- leaving a streak of fair skin on-show. “I do not encourage you to train for ceremonial or traditional purposes. You’re fighting to survive and to protect yourself. You win, you live. You lose, you die. Life or death. You would rather live, wouldn’t you?”
The boy nodded, and Marianne flashed one of her charming smiles, ruffling the head of raven hair affectionately.
“Marianne.”
All turned to the stairs just in time to see His Majesty descend -- Bismarck Waldstein, an ever constant presence beside him. The Queen’s handmaidens, the passing servants, and the Crown Prince himself dropped into one knee in honor of the ruler who had recently taken control of the entire continent. Not a King. But, Emperor Charles. Lelouch mumbled this under his breath, wrapping his head around the fact that it was a title he would one day inherit.
“Oh hello darling.” Marianne crooned, disregarding formal Court etiquette. Emperor he may be, he was her husband first.
“A word.”
Two words coupled with a casual wave of the hand, dismissing those present in the vicinity. The servants scurried off to continue their tasks, the Queen’s handmaiden curtsied and made herself scarce. Lelouch looked at his mother with wide purple eyes, full of questions and unending curiosity. Still, she knew that whatever Charles was about to say was not meant for their son to hear. So she told him to go and find his sister and perhaps even a few of his cousins. She knew he wanted to stay, but her boy knew better than to ask questions he wouldn’t get answers to. Still a little miffed, he reluctantly received the casual pat on the shoulder from Charles zi Britannia himself, and accepted Bismarck Waldstein ushering him away from his mother’s and father’s rendezvous.
Marianne eyed her husband, took silent note of how broad his shoulders appeared underneath that tailored and regal suit. He was rather attractive, especially if he chose to do away with that atrocious powdered wig. How he could stand them, she would never understand.
She was still busy ogling him when his question cut through her almost inappropriate thoughts. “His studies and training are faring well, I presume?”
Oh, right… Their son. She nodded once to confirm and took his arm to lead him into the opposite direction. The training arena was built above one of the palace’s largest gardens. When she first came here, Marianne often wondered what the purpose was. Was there any political gain to be had for noble ladies to gawk at squires and knights sparring and training? Perhaps there was, now that she thought about it.
But this wasn’t why she opted to converse with her husband there. The orchard and the greenery offered lovely sights to stare at, and meant less hiding spots for any nosy eavesdroppers. Marianne held her skirts gingerly as they descended the steps.
“He can think on his feet. What he lacks in gifted swordsmanship, he makes up for with cunning.” Marianne smirked, nudging Charles’ side. “He is my son, after all, is he not?”
Charles allowed the tiniest quirk at the corner of his mouth as he grunted his agreement. “For his scholarly education?”
“Top marks from his tutors, as expected.” Marianne crooned as they entered the walkway between a row of flowerbeds. “But we both know you didn’t seek me out here, of all places, to talk about Lelouch’s brilliance.”
As she busied herself with admiring the loveliness of the flora and the fauna, she missed the ephemeral amusement in Charles’ face. Marianne always had confidence in her own intellect and potential, and it shone through in the simplest of interactions with her. He had married a captivating woman, and even his father had little to no objections about their marriage nine years ago.
Nevertheless, here and now, she was right. As much as he cared about his children’s education and upbringing, there were matters which he placed greater value on. The subject of the Sword of Akasha was one matter.
“I want to halt the progress of finding the lost key.”
The statement was followed by a cautious silence; one Marianne maintained whenever she processed thoughts -- turning ideas over and over again inside her head.
“What brought this on, Charles?”
“We don’t have the resources to spare when Française and the Prussian empire have come together to subdue Britannian influence.”
“So why stop the search for the key and the other artifacts?”]

This AU was one of my favorites. For some reason, the plot I constructed just refused to cooperate, and it all devolved into ONE HUGE MESS. Like it always does XD

Can’t sleep gotta write about Sonic epilogue headcanons
Romantic relationships - fankids
I don’t have allll the details but this takes place in a mashup AU primarily based on SatAM and Underground. Aleena was not queen but rather was King Max’s top advisor (things might have gone better if she HAD been queen). Sally was the crown princess but decided not to reinstate the monarchy after Robotnik’s defeat. Instead Sally and Aleena are in charge of the Acorn Council, composed of former Freedom Fighters and community leaders from all over, whose mission is both to heal the damage caused by Robotnik and also to rise above the flaws of the old kingdoms.
Some of these ideas may apply to Dead Reckoning; however there are key differences, and since Dead Reckoning is a long-term work in progress my plans are likely to change. Therefore this brainstorm does not technically include Dead Reckoning spoilers, but I can and will recycle and improve upon my favorite themes.
More under the cut.
Sally’s family name is actually Oakland. 'Acorn’ is a nickname traditionally given to the heir to the throne. Sally’s chosen to keep it both for herself and the Council. To Mobius it represents new beginnings, the potential for life and growth in the wake of disaster. More personally, it represents her decision to walk away from the throne and the mistakes of her ancestors. She hopes that her decision will lead to a brighter future for herself and for Mobius, but only time will tell.
Manic was one of the loudest voices calling for democracy. At first, Aleena tried to reintroduce her children to the aristocracy, with mixed success. Manic, despite wanting more than anything to impress his mother, did not fit in. The nobles predictably looked down at Manic for his lack of manners and education. The disdain was mutual, as Manic resented them for their cowardice during the war and their perceived self-importance. Insecurity turned to anger as Manic realized two things. One) He was every bit as intelligent and capable as the people who sneered at him, if not more so. Two) He was no better than the thieves and urchins he had grown up with, and neither were the ruling class. The whole system was built on rot, and because of his newfound family, he had an opportunity to change it.
He started studying history and sociology. It was not easy. The eclectic skillset that had kept him alive did not lend itself well to sitting in a library (in fact he can’t remember the last time he read a book from cover to cover). Instead he sought out scholars that had survived the war and got them talking. Academics are generally all too eager to talk for hours or days about their expertise, and Manic just had to listen and remember. When other tasks demanded his attention, he poured through audiobooks. He went back to the experts and asked questions, more and more detailed every week. He got into arguments, lots of them, and so he learned how to articulate his beliefs and then defend them.
But of course, in the world of politics, knowledge doesn’t win battles. Networking does. So Manic went to Sonia, swallowed his pride, and asked her to teach him everything she knew. When she agreed, it wasn’t just for the chance to show off. With the two of them at odds more often than not, it’s easy to forget that they are never actually on opposite sides, and together they’re unstoppable. Manic learned manners and courtly protocol, how to suck up and lie for the greater good. Maybe he despised the person he became while wearing the mask, but he couldn’t deny how satisfying he was to wrap the court around his little finger. Rather than a liability, he turned his upbringing into his greatest asset. He knew how to make connections, to discern who was trustworthy and who was lying to his face. He knew how to go unnoticed or to make himself a threat. He knew how to twist the truth or how to choose the ground to fight on. And one goal remained at the forefront of his mind; to extend the same opportunity and justice he now enjoyed to the less fortunate.
Manic didn’t do it alone, of course. Sonia and Aleena stood beside him, despite their initial hesitation. Putting aside a somewhat rosier view of the old kingdoms, they knew just as well that a better future was impossible without a level playing field. Ultimately it was Sally’s decision to turn her back on the throne, but when she did, the hedgehogs ensured that any aristocrats who disagreed with her knew not to raise a fuss.
Meanwhile, Sonic:
Tumblr media
The Robians have been freed from Robotnik’s control, but their metal bodies remain. The science of roboticization continues to be poorly understood, and the more the Council investigates, the less reversible the process appears to be. As such, Robians best hope is to work through their trauma, get used to their new bodies, and count their blessings that they at least have their memories and their free will.
Among the Robians is Sonic. He was roboticized in the last days of the war, after making a heroic sacrifice that he thought was going to result in his death. Imagine his surprise when he woke up in a metal body. He doesn’t like to talk about it. If anyone asks, he insists that he doesn’t have anything to worry about with Robotnik out of the way, cracks a joke, and changes the subject. The war might be over, but a lifetime of playing the hero isn’t easy to shake off.
Okay, yeah, Sonic’s having a hard time. Now that things have quieted down and he spends less and less time fighting for survival, he has a lot of time to think. He’s not used to that. He doesn’t exactly enjoy it. When he was sixteen he was fearless. When he was twenty he could rely on adrenaline to drown out his doubts. Now he’s staring a lifetime of hardship in the face, and he’s starting to realize that all the things he thought he could shake off may have left a mark anyway, but that’s not nearly as terrifying as the idea of making himself vulnerable to the friends and family that have relied on him for so long. (They know something’s wrong, of course they do, and they desperately want to help. It’s a work in progress)
On a more positive note! Sonic’s taken up art. He’s always had a doodling habit, and if made to sit still would pass the time scribbling out cartoons on any surface within reach. Lately he’s started to take it a little more seriously, and he’s getting pretty damn good. Most of his work is lighthearted and bright, with bold colors and fantastical elements. He paints a lot of landscapes, showcasing the regrowth of wilderness in Robotnik’s absence, but always adding his own personal touches. Impossible creatures, dreamlike colors, and loops take the place of his signature.
I’m going to stop this here, not because I’m out of ideas but because it’s 4 am and I’m losing my train of thought. Feel free to send questions or prompts for me to ramble about because I would absolutely love to. Art in the future? May be??

Friends: The actual enneagram types of Rachel, Monica, Ross, Chandler, Phoebe, and Joey
Tumblr media
The Protagonist Friend: Rachel Green [Type 3]
Tumblr media
“You know what I figure, if I can do laundry, there's nothing I can't do.”
Enneagram Wing: 3w4 (Achiever along with an individualist)
"It's like all of my life everyone has always told me, 'You're a shoe, you're a shoe, you're a shoe, you're a shoe.' And then today I just stopped and I said, 'What if I don't want to be a shoe? What if I want to be a purse, you know? Or, a hat?'"
Core Fear: Of being worthless
Core Desire: To feel valuable
Childhood wound: You must be extraordinary to deserve love.
Rachel’s deepest fear is not reaching her full potential in life and this is the driving force behind all of her actions. The symbolism of her being a runaway bride in the pilot episode demonstrates just that, she doesn’t want to settle or live a mediocre life. In adolescence her need for value and significance is demonstrated in her popularity, being head cheerleader, and holding a legacy of being the mean girl. The mean girl trope in pop culture often shows that the meal girl’s deepest vulnerability is feeling as if she is less than others. Being mean to others is her coping mechanism to continue feeling superior. In adulthood, Rachel leaves behind a life of privilege she finds unsatisfying and chooses the ‘road less traveled’ for individuals of her upbringing in which she must achieve things on her own. We see Rachel start from the bottom and make her way to the top. Her career becomes a big part of her identify in that she even neglects her first true love for it. We see that Rachel’s father instilled this childhood wound of valuing superiority in his mistreatment of the lower class.
The Best Friend: Monica Geller [Type 1]
Tumblr media
“And remember, if I’m harsh with you it’s only because you’re doing it wrong.”
Enneagram wing: 1w2 (Reformer along with a helper)
“I've got this controllable need to please people!”
Core Fear: Imbalance
Core Desire: Balance
Childhood wound: You must always be better than you are.
Monica’s defining trait is her need for order in her life and environment. She notices all inconsistencies and errors in not only her home organization but the state of her friends appearances and actions. Her OCD tendencies is a running gag in the series. On the contrary, Monica is very caring and nurturing. She is always there to lend a helping hand and advise her friends. Unlike the rest of her friends, Monica is very aware of where she wants to be and what she wants in life. She feels a sort of instability when her life doesn’t go according to the plan she envisions. She has a hard time adapting to change shown the mourning of Richard and her roommate Rachel. However, she’s not afraid to walk away from things that she knows won’t serve her in the long run even if its hard to do. She cannot relax unless she feels she is living up to the high standards she has set for herself and others. She does not hesitant to let others know where they fall short. Not only does she calls others out but tries to steer them in the direction to what they deserve. We see that Monica’s perfectionistic ways are rooted in her childhood wound from her mom’s constant criticism of her.
The Friend Who Loves Hard: Ross Geller [Type 5]
Tumblr media
“You’re means you are. Your means your!”
Enneagram wing: 5w6 (Investigator along with a loyalist)
“You know what the scariest part is? What if there's only one woman for everybody, you know?”
Core Fear: Incompetence
Core Desire: Proficiency
Childhood wound: You must acquire all the knowledge otherwise you are helpless and incapable.
Ross’s defining trait is his intellect. He often annoys his friends with constant talk of paleontological topics and his need to always be right. Ross not only values education and knowledge but also security. He fears being alone and often takes the leap of faith with romantic partners, however, his trust issues get in the way and result in self sabotage. He exposes his childhood wound in later seasons: his father made him feel incompetent due to his love of dinosaurs and playing with dinosaur toys as a child. Ross also struggles with feeling less of a man and this can be linked to his enjoyment of role playing as a woman as a kid and being ridiculed for it.
The Friend Who Opens Up: Chandler Bing [Type 6]
Tumblr media
“Until I was 25, I thought that that the only response to ‘I love you’ was “Oh, crap!’”
Enneagram wing: 6w7 (The loyalist along with an enthusiast)
“I’m full and yet I know if I stop eating this I’ll regret it.”
Core Fear: Isolation
Core Desire: Comfort
Childhood wound: You must succumb to your doubts because the world is not a safe place anyways.
Chandler’s defining trait is his pessimism. He uses sarcasm and humor as a defense mechanism for his deep insecurity and fear. Chandler longs for closeness and security in his relationships but often sabotages any chance at lasting love. He sticks with what is known and comfortable because it’s predictable (he constantly reconnects with Janice despite his dislike of her). He knows he is a lot to handle so he greatly values his friendships because they accept him for who he is and provide him support and validation. It makes sense that he ends up with Monica because their foundation being built on the already existing trust from friendship, thus providing him safety to trust and open up. Despite Chandler’s neurotic tendencies, he is a fun loving person. Joey, being a 7 himself brings this out in him.
The Friend With A Heart of Gold: Joey Tribbiani [Type 7]
Tumblr media
“I like it. What’s not to like? Custard? Good. Jam? Good. Meat? Good.”
Enneagram wing: 7w8
“You can’t just give up! Is that what a dinosaur would do?”
Core Fear: Being unfulfilled
Core Desire: Contempt
Childhood wound: You must sow all your wild oats or you will be eternally unhappy.
Joey’s personality is defined by his enthusiastic yet easygoing nature. Joey’s main concern is to go out and have a good time. He wants to enjoy life however when things don’t go his way he never lets this get him down. He is quite dimwitted but often acts as the wise fool encouraging his friends and sticking up for them whenever needed. He never really commits to anything, bouncing from job to job and woman to woman. He is essentially always looking for the next big thing and he seems to never find it. Joey’s lack of commitment also demonstrates that he doesn’t really desire the security that comes with it. He subconsciously feels as if he is completely self-sufficient (8). His childhood wound is exposed when discussing his family line. He was the only boy out of 7 sisters and felt as if he had to set up and be the protector. We can assume that his parents having so many children to resulted in him lacking the attention and nurturing a child is supposed to have then.
The Intuitive Friend: Phoebe Buffay [Type 8]
Tumblr media
“If we were in prison, you guys would be like my bitches!”
Enneagram wing: 8w7/8w9 (Balanced: Challenger along with an enthusiast and peacemaker)
“That’s not running, let’s goooo!”
“I have to go before I put your head through a wall.”
Core Fear: Being harmed
Core Desire: Self-protection
Childhood wound: You must be totally independent because relying on others only results in harm.
Phoebe shows many traits of several enneagram types, for instance she shows hints of a 7 and 9 but her assertiveness and independent nature stands out from the rest. Her childhood wounding defines her personality traits, quirks, relationship dynamics, and her lifestyle. From a young age she had to learn how to defend herself and take care of herself due to the abandonment of her caregivers. She is the least connected to her friend group and for a long time lived on her own while the rest of the friends were each others roommates. She refrained from developing any long term relationships and we can first think that it’s because she doesn’t want that. It is later revealed that she never put much thought it which suggests that her independence is engrained into her being. It’s simply all she knew. However, Phoebe’s challenging nature is balanced out by her wings. She can stay positive and be fun loving (7). She develops a alias, Regina Phalange to get in and out of mischief. Her wing 7 is why she identifies with Joey so well. She also can play the role of the mediator to help her friends work out their issues (9). Phoebe also desires to be at peace with all, even her sister Ursula who is totally disinterested and uncaring. She desires world peace and advocates for animal cruelty and vegetarianism. Phoebe is probably the most emotionally healthy character despite having the roughest upbringing.

Hi astroismypasion, I recently sent a donation on kofi. Would love to know things on my chart interpretation. My birth chart info is Nov 1st 1991 20:41pm :)
Hi!
First of all, thank you for your kind message. I really liked how you worded it, you instantly came across as an elegant and kind individual!
Also, a side note about your birthday number, which is 1. I often notice Scorpios have it or they have 10. So I consider it a leader’s number. But it’s also a lonely path or so it seems. I guess it really is lonely at the top! ;)
Thank you for buying me this delicious hot beverage. I drank iced black coffee with rice milk while writing your interpretation. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing! I listened to Lorde - Everybody wants to rule the world.
Your dominant planets are: 1. Sun, 2. Pluto and 3. Mercury. Your dominant signs are: 1. Scorpio, 2. Virgo and 3. Capricorn. Your main mode is Fixed. You are Water dominant.
FAMILY, SIBLINGS, EARLY LIFE
If you have any siblings, they are Leo, Virgo, Sagittarius or Cancer. You have Virgo IC. Your parents might have been over critical, nit picky, nagging and complaining about you or to you. They might have compared to your siblings, friends, schoolmates or neighbours. You learnt how to read, write and speak very early on. Your parents emphasized how important it is to have realistic goals and views. They wanted you to pursue something pragmatic and useful. A bit of your 4th house is already in Libra. You are not emotionally close to your parents. You might have more of an intellectual, mental bond. They provided for your physical needs, but emotional needs not so much. Journal by Kyler
Inspired by @cirianne ;) This is a cutscene from the first chapter. Or rather it’s like Kyler’s journal entry, where he introduces himself, while I’m trying to nail his voice. Like the first yourocbackstory prompt XD.  More of a telling than showing piece, but I like it. 644 words
My name is Kyler Silvera, and I’m a clone of the most powerful mage alive.
The existence of clones depends entirely on their usefulness. We live and die for the purpose assigned to us by our creator. We are his tools, the extensions of himself, the pieces he made to move towards his goal.
We don’t question.
We don’t feel.
We don’t desire.
Or at least that’s how it should be.
The ideal clone would be a weapon in his master’s hands, ready to fire, burn and fall at command without hesitation. We were created not born, our lives are not ours to control. And yet a clone still has human weaknesses, the preinstalled unreasonable human tendency to want, doubt and get swept by emotions.
Our humanity is our greatest enemy.
Not everyone agrees with me of course. Unfortunately thoughts can’t be read and actions can’t be predetermined. Each of us is still an independent piece with all the space to fail, despite our Father’s great efforts to adjust our genetic code.
But I’m the most successful clone he ever made. The trump card, the one in top 5 rank since 15 years old.
The one too valuable to just die on the battlefield for a strategic victory.
I’m the only clone allowed to call him Father. I’m the one chosen as a successor from hundreds of adepts, clones of the strongest Pulsor in the last century, if not all history. The mightiest General of the Pulsor army, the Chef of the government and brilliant scientist Gerald Silvera.
From all the training, talent exams and fights, I have been the victorious. Proving again and again, to be the most powerful, worthy of thoughts, strategies, of surviving. Once Father officially appoints me as his successor and heir, my continued existence will be assured.
Until that day comes, I was stuck handling tedious tasks that weren’t directly related to my role as the successor. Not missions designed to kill me - Father didn’t want me to die - but to endanger my safety. A successor that couldn’t survive on the battlefield wasn’t worth much now, was he?
But it wasn’t my worth tested that day. It was the worth of another clone.
Grayson Silvera was the worst possible clone. He was extraordinary in his tactics, magic skills and fighting prowess, an ideal top ranking exemplar, almost on par with me. If it wasn’t for his troublesome personality.
Grayson, as part of Father’s special experiments, had a very special upbringing. Instead of being trained in the main facility, he was sent to allied mercenary soldiers at the edges of the front lines. Mercenary mages were generally the most feared of all soldiers, their strength not held back my moral qualms. They did what they were paid to do as ruthlessly or as emotionally as they wanted, enjoying pain just as well as pleasure. Never serving anyone other that their self-interests.
It was a gamble to send a 12 year old boy to be raised among them, but Father always experimented with educational methods. Looking for ways how to make his clones even more resilient, how to prolong their lives, or at least their use.
Grayson came out exceptionally strong, there was no doubt in that. But he was too far out of Father’s reach, too wild, too uncultivated.
Father struggled to decide if to kill him or not. His aggressive unpredictability clashed with his potential and his obvious defiance jeopardized his usefulness.
The mission was to get rid of him. Not as an example, but in an unfortunate turn of events, accidently taken out by the remaining Elementals we were pushing back.
It wasn’t to punish him, but more to show how being different than what was expected lead only unfavorable outcomes.
And I was charged with making sure he would die today.

how royal succession works in Almyra + Other Things about almyra that’s been rattling in my head since that nintendo dream interview laid waste on my crops
hi, so after reading M’s @ladamedepique drabble about a concubine war kid getting kmarted, i realized that what i actually want to write is the Everything i’ve been thinking about since this nintendo dream interview came out back in march. so i did. it’s 2am and im hungry.
i realize that it’s been a while, so the summary of that interview’s impact on my claude headcanons is “my handcrafted claude backstory that i had to write myself bc intsys decided fuck claude is now irreversibly fucked by the introduction of a bunch of half-siblings he had to be rivals with.” if you ever catch yourself wondering why this is such a mess, well because that’s exactly what this is! this is all subject to change, it’s same kind of “haphazard and bizarrely long half-baked headcanon report” that my dlc thought train was. i’ve changed my mind at least 20 times during this process i will change it again
i’d like to thank zotero for holding all of my journal articles and pdfs on the ottomans and their succession system, and also magnificent century og and kosem, while not being totally historically accurate, for being a fun soap opera to give me some visuals to work with in my head. i now have a positive understanding of what claude’s shitty little beard could realistically look like, which is a gift that i never thought i would have.
Almyran Succession
All of the king’s children, regardless of if they were born in or out of wedlock, is considered a legitimate prince or princess. This is pretty much the only title that they can expect to have, as they and their mothers cannot inherit any lands, titles or wealth that would have been passed to them from their own families. Almyran property law aims to avoid partitioning property between multiple heirs for the sake of maintaining the family’s financial stability. The throne of Almyra works under the same principle, which had led to the introduction, legalization, and practice of open succession.
Open succession, despite its potential to be cruel, is viewed as a necessary step to ensure that the throne would only be held by strong leaders chosen by the people (”people” ending up being the higher-ranking officials that would benefit from a specific child’s ascension). If they proved to be lacking, they would simply be deposed of and replaced.
What determines who becomes the next ruler of Almyra is not whether a child is the oldest of all the children, but if they and their allies have the political acumen to not only claim kingship but keep it, fighting off their rival brothers and sisters.
All sons and unmarried daughters are eligible to rule Almyra. By law is not only the next ruler’s right but duty to remove other potential heirs to secure their right to rule and the stability of their reign. Generally upon a ruler’s ascension to the throne, their brothers will be killed and their sisters married off or killed if they threaten their siblings’ rule. Exceptions have been made in the past, but they are few and far in between and have led to succession crises down the road.
The previous ruler’s choice for an heir is usually accepted after their death, and ideal for minimizing the interregnum period. Even so, it doesn’t guarantee that the heir will be able to keep the throne.
Ok, but where do the kids come from?
Rulers of Almyra are allowed to have multiple spouses, but they usually only marry for political purposes.
The vast majority of children are mothered or fathered by concubines with no background of political power, which is preferred. Princes and princesses are allowed to have children once they leave the palace (to prove that they can have them), but if they have too many they may be considered a threat to the king and dealt with appropriately.
I think the one mother-one child rule would have been in place here, not necessarily as a law but as a rule enforced by other spouses and concubines, as well as the ruler’s mother or father.
Princes and princesses aren’t dropping like flies, and murdering them without having the law on your side is considered treason of the highest order. They’re still aware of their competition and fear being murdered when one of their siblings takes the thrones, so few end up becoming friends.
Children are ultimately their mother’s or father’s responsibility. They are expected to guide them through their education and follow them to their provincial post when they are old enough, setting them up for success and paving their path to the throne. King and Queen Dowagers have been incredibly influential in Almyran history and support their children by representing them politically and managing their spouses and concubines.
Ok, whatever, just tell me what’s relevant to Claude:
Ibrahim, Claude’s father, became the king of Almyra only after 5 year civil war between himself and his two remaining brothers. He got to the throne first and is still feared for the ruthless execution of even his youngest brothers and sisters.
In all, Ibrahim has had 2 wives and 12 concubines, and he has fathered 10 sons and 6 daughters. A few died to childhood illnesses but most made it to at least 13 years old. He’s a doting father and cares for their well-being, though only when he happens to see them. Though he was a constant presence in Claude’s life, his half-siblings usually only saw him during holidays.
No one in Almyra knows that Tiana is the daughter of Duke Riegan, for all they know she’s a Fódlaner that King Ibrahim brought back with him after a short border strife with the Leicester Alliance. Obviously she goes by another name in Almyra, and here is where I think I’m going to bring back the first name I had for her, Desdemona. Suck it, intsys. She wasn’t liked when she first came due to being from Fódlan, and was accused of witchcraft when Ibrahim married her and devoted himself to her at the expense of his other wives as concubines. As the herd of children and concubines thinned, Tiana’s strong personality and battle prowess garnered her respect among the top officials of the Almyran court and even her enemies.
In Fódlan Year 1175, rebels infiltrate the palace walls and kill over a dozen people, from palace servants to princes and princesses. In the moment it was believed to be part of a revolt that was ongoing in the capital at the time and carried out by rebels storming the palace walls and stealing and killing whatever came in their way. After an investigation, it was discovered that that was just a cover up for.... a noble Almyran house trying to make a power grab through either an older son or with their own heir? I’ve been working out the details on this for months and I still don’t have them ironed out don’t look at me. It ends with a couple of older half-sibs dying but more importantly Claude’s older and younger brother dying and Claude nearly dying himself, only to survive with the Crest of Riegan. I imagine that there have been instances before hinted at him having the Crest of Riegan, but it was this incident that confirmed it for Tiana.
These are the notable royal family members, or the ones I’ve spent at least one second thinking of:
King Ibrahim II of Almyra: Claude’s dad, born Fódlan year 1131 so 19 when he ascends the throne. He is feared but respected, brutal to his enemies, firm with his allies... but you’d be surprised by how easygoing he actually is with friends and family. He’s young at heart and energetic, even laughing at jokes made at his expense, but only in very close company. He loves writing poetry, especially to Tiana, and he frequently sends her love letters so that one can be read out to her every morning and evening when her mail is given to her. Relishes the thrill of battle. Nader introduced him to kumis back when they were boys and to this day Ibrahim regularly drinks a glass each night, claiming it makes him stronger.
There’s a tradition in the royal family that all princes and princesses must learn a trade in case that they fall into misfortune. Ibrahim enjoys goldsmithing when he is alone, a good distraction from his thoughts. Claude’s earring is part of a set given to his mother, crafted by his father as a gift.
Tiana von Riegan/Desdemona: Claude’s mom, born Fódlan year 1135. Claude calls her a warrior goddess and a demon queen that would laugh at his expense, I imagine that she’s in that “dead serious but good humored about it” boat like Claudedad, but less sappy about it. A tough but loving mother, she was very involved in her children’s upbringing and did her best to secure their place in the royal family. She doesn’t teach any of her kids the Fódlanguage because she was distancing herself from That, but Claude is able to convince her to help him learn (though she was reluctant about it and limited their lessons greatly, forcing him to teach himself mostly). She has firmly decided to never return to Fódlan, but a cup of Leicester Cortania is her guilty pleasure. These days Tiana spends her time at her husband’s side in Maragheh, keeping up with her training.
Two older half-brothers: So Claude’s endings have him as heir to the throne without a mention of rivals, but part of me feels like that’s too simple for Claude considering he just up and walked out of there 7 years ago so here we are, two rivals. They’re probably early to mid 30s at this point and have one or two small children of their own. I don’t know their names yet, but my initial ideas are a “nice” brother cool calculated pushing up glasses kind of dude that is actually a huge dick and a chad dudebro who’s just trying to distance himself from these bad vibes.
If I had to give them trades, nice brother likes to fish and sails for pleasure (he governs a coastal province) and chad brother carves wooden thumbrings.
Orhan: Claude’s older brother, born Fódlan Year 1160. He was conceived months before Tiana went to Almyra (born 5 months after she arrived), so his parentage has been in doubt from day 1. I imagine him as having low self-esteem since he was believed to be a full-blooded Fódlaner, discriminated against in a similar way or worse than what the rest of his siblings went through. Historians would later debate whether or not he was actually Ibrahim’s son.... but we’re not historians, and Orhan was definitely his son. Died in the FY1175 uprising at the age of 15.
No idea what he looked like, he just happened to not look like his parents. His favorite food was salted cod, but he was rarely able to get it. Orhan enjoyed playing the violin.
Claude/Khalid: You know him, you love him, born Fódlan Year 1162 under another name. He’s the only kid that ended up getting the Crest of Riegan, and after one too many accidents where that crest ended up proccing, he’s been accused of practicing witchcraft like his mother. I think this would be a better like, concrete thing for the Almyrans to fixate on rather than a general “you’re half-Fódlan rahhh” and I think it would definitely go with Claude talking about how he was constantly fighting and explaining himself to get out of trouble.
If I’m going with the “kids can only inherit from the ruler of Almyra”, then I’m gonna have to figure out how Claude fits into this. His first move is to probably bullshit a loophole about how actually the Dukedom of Riegan doesn’t exist anymore and I may have destroyed Failnaught after the final battle so technically I didn’t really inherit anything that would give me an edge in Almyran politics. :). Ibrahim is pissed at Claude for going to Fódlan in the first place and getting caught up in a war and he definitely did not sign off on Nader bringing Almyran troops into a war that they have no business being involved in. The first thing Ibrahim does when Claude returns to Maragheh is shout at him and ground him to his apartment in the palace. And then proceed to assign Claude to a governmental post so that he’s out of his sight.
As an aside, I imagine that when Ibrahim dies and Claude rises to the throne, he deliberately delays his coronation so that it coincides with the Almyran New Year. It;s that kind of inconvenient dick move that he would delight in making bc symbolism.
You know what he looks like, in terms of food he strays away from sugary sweet stuff and towards meat and cheese. I’d like to think that he gains a genuine interest in gardening (like, beyond just cultivating poisonous plants as a cover for “gardening”) during his time in Fódlan and brings back different seedlings and scions for grafting back to Almyra.
Mehmet and Rahimah: Twins, born Fódlan Year 1164. Ok so basically I kind of wanted a dead sibling that was around Cyril and Lysithea’s age for the Drama of it (bc I thought of Claude looking at Cyril and thinking of his brother and immediately went “That hurts. Let’s do it”). But I ALSO thought what if Claude had a little sister, and then I ALSO thought what if Claude has a new full-blooded sibling that got conceived during the five year war, like the shittiest surprise. I’ve combined all those ideas into the twins.
First of all, they have more function than personality. Mehmet only exists to die during the uprising, but I’m starting to like Rahimah bc like... she literally loses most of her brothers including her twin, and then Claude up and leaves her for Fódlan (a place she has little connection to, regardless of her mother). Her only remaining sibling is gone for years, misses seven birthdays, her wedding with an Almyran general, the birth of her first child and the announcement of her second... like, by the time Claude comes back to Almyra she hates his guts and you know what? She’s right! I imagine Rahimah angry, but also grasping for literally any kind of deep and long-lasting relationship at this point. She loves her kids fiercely, she loves her husband, and even though they have their struggles she's still very close to her mom. Fuck her no-show brother Khalid, and fuck Fódlan for taking him away from her.
No idea what Mehmet looks like, like I said he only exists to die. Rahimah is shorter than Claude at maybe 5′4, round-faced and carrying herself gracefully. She’s lactose intolerant but she bears the pain for the sake of eating ice cream, and her husband goes to great lengths to get the ice for her. Likes to sing and dance with her son Ömer.

PORTRAITS OF CONGRESS: CHARLIE KEETING (NY-10) BY SOPHIA HOTCHNER - AUGUST 11, 2020 - THE WASHINGTON POST
When I sat down with Representative Charlie Keeting - an environmental activist and the current NY-10 Representative, there was an immediate sense of warmth. Maybe that had to do with the fact that the bustling-yet-quiet walls of the cafe they had chosen to meet in was a beautiful shade of corals and yellows, or maybe it had to do with the Representative’s dedication to making sure I was comfortable, but there’s no denying that Charlie Keeting has a warm heart beating in his chest.
I met Charlie Keeting (who uses they/them and he/him pronouns interchangeably) back at the beginning of the year when I had the opportunity to collect information on current Democratic activists, of which Charlie had made the list. Their activism in trans health and trans safety (they’re agender themselves), their work with LGBTQ+ youth within their district and beyond, and their unflinching stance on climate change have made them a bright young face in Washington - one many kids and young adults can see themselves in. On top of that, their eclectic style and infectious laughter certainly made me feel right at home within our small world of interviews.
We order before we get started, Representative Keeting settling on a Mediterranean Salad - “Vegan,” they say, “I’m working on it, but it’s not always feasible for everyone, and that’s okay,” - and then we begin our conversation about what it means to be a leader in congress at an age so young, what’s next for the New York Representative, and the upcoming elections.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: So, Representative, tell us a little about yourself - where you grew up, what your life was like at a young age?
REP. KEETING: I grew up in a small suburb in north New York - Rochester, to be exact. I was more than fortunate enough to be able to grow up in a household that was extremely LGBTQ+ friendly, and despite being a child of divorce, really lovely. My mom came out when I was six. She told my dad she had met someone else and we just kind of moved on from there. My upbringing was... a bit abnormal to say the least for two reasons: one, my dad and mom remained best friends (which I know doesn’t always happen in divorces), and two, my dad was halfway across the country. Regardless, my parents were more than supportive of everything I did, and Rochester might have been a small town, but it has a lovely queer community within it.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: It’s really great that you had such a supportive community at such a young age.
REP. KEETING: Honestly, I’m thankful for it every day. Growing up being encouraged to explore myself, my interests, and my identity is definitely one of the reasons I feel so comfortable today.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: Has DC and the world of politics changed that at all?
REP. KEETING: I certainly don’t always have the freedoms that I’d like to have in regards to how I’d like to dress. Regulations on the hill for what constitutes as formal are still extremely gendered. It’ll be something I work on if I get the chance to return to the Capitol in the winter.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: Yes, you’re up for re-election, correct?
REP. KEETING: I am indeed.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: How are you feeling about the campaign?
REP. KEETING: I’m feeling pretty good. If the citizens of New York City want me in office, they’ll put me there, you know? If that’s not what they want, I’ll surely be doing this work in other capacities. I’ve been in and around Washington since 2012 doing different sorts of climate and political work, so I’m pretty confident that I won’t be leaving the city or the realm of politics anytime soon.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: You did work for different politicians before you were elected office, correct? Writing grants and doing climate crisis research?
REP. KEETING: Yes, I used to be knee deep in grant-writing on any given day in the first few years i spent here. I don’t think I miss it completely, but I do miss some of it sometimes.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: Did you always know you wanted to go into politics eventually? Or was it just a natural next step?
REP. KEETING: I can confidently say the younger version of me had no idea they were going to end up in politics. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, but my parents have always been supportive no matter what I attempted to make of my life. I knew from a young age I was heavily interested in science and the arts, so I figured I’d end up doing something in those categories. I still kind of do, and I still paint and create art displays and curate galleries when I can, but that’s definitely taken a back seat to the science side of my interests, which have turned very political with the climate crisis. It was definitely more of a natural next step to slide into office.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: Sometimes things just fall into place, don’t they?
REP. KEETING: It certainly feels like it. My degree was like that too. So many people ask me why I double majored in Climate Science and Art History, but it just felt right. Moral of the story? Pursue your interests as much as you can. Hobbies, career options, whatever they are. Pursue it. Nothing is too small to care about.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: That’s good advice. I know younger me would have loved to hear that more. On the topic of your schooling and on the climate crisis - you’re nearing the completion of your PhD, yes? How has your schooling and your continuing education informed your stance on certain topics?
REP. KEETING: Since I had the opportunity to complete my masters degree in Climate & Society, I was able to put a lot of that work to use right away because it was a partially practical degree. I ended up working for a couple of environmental firms here in DC, working with politicians to help implement eco-friendly laws, but also tangible laws. I’d say that’s the biggest way my education has helped impact my stance -- in a much more actionable way. Studying both sides of it allowed me to see the changes that needed to be made from the science side of it, but also taught me the best way to explore how things can be implemented in a manageable and realistic way.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: At the same time, you’ve been a large inspiration for a lot of young activists, both within Climate Activism as well as in the LGBTQ+ Community  - what are your thoughts on that? Do you have any words of wisdom for your followers?
REP. KEETING: As much as it’s an honor to be seen as an inspiration, I’m not the first and I’m certainly not the last to fight for what I’m fighting for. I’m just one person who was elected into office to help do the work from a legislative perspective. Connect with your local communities, find workplaces and grassroots communities that stand for what you believe in. I didn’t start in politics, after all - I started there, and it most certainly shaped who I am today. And - as cheesy as it is - follow your heart. As long as you love what you do, you’ll never be really bored a day in your life. Frustrated? Maybe. But never bored.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: On that note of inspiration and firsts, this is your first term in congress, and you’re only 34. How has being a young activist in Congress shaped your experience?
REP. KEETING: I wish it wasn’t true, but people do tend to take me less seriously. What part of lack of respect that falls under is up for debate, but I do think my age definitely comes into play. It’s easy to claim seniority and push that ‘seasoned minds know best’, but I don’t think that’s true. I think what it really comes down to is how dedicated you are to your work, no matter your age. At the same time, being a young representative in Congress has allowed me to connect with a demographic of young voters that has felt consistently under-heard from the older members of the administration. By no means do I want to be a spokesperson, and I’m certainly not going to be young forever, but I think my age has helped me form an immediate connection with a lot of younger individuals who are maybe voting for the first time, or voting for the third or fourth time, who want to see their ideas moving into congress.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: Do you have any plans for last minute moves in the House before your re-election? Or will you be waiting for a hopeful new term to bring forward any movements or bills to the table?
REP. KEETING: A combination of both. I know there’s always the chance that I might not get another term in office, so I definitely have a few more things up my sleeve before the elections potentially take that chance. But I can confidently say that if I’m able to take up office again in January, rest assured I won’t be playing nice. I’ve got a lot I want to do, and a team behind me ready to help me make it happen.
SOPHIA HOTCHNER: Last question, for the sake of the fact that I kind of have to - you’ve vocalized your support for the Democratic Candidates, correct? How do you see the landscape of Capitol Hill changing depending on who takes office?
REP. KEETING: I most certainly have. I’m a vocal supporter of Berkeley-Zafar, and I’ll continue to be so. I’m not sure exactly how my job will change after the elections quite yet, but definitely the majority in the house will shape how much I’ll be able to get done next term, considering most of my politics aren’t quite… in line with most of the GOP’s. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. We still have some time left on the campaign trail, and I’ll be excited to see how it all plays out, that’s for sure.
I thanked Representative Keeting for sitting down for lunch with me as we wrap up, talking more casually about the meal and they ask me how everything’s going at the Post. It’s small conversations like this that make it easy to see why the Representative is only projecting upward. Their interest in community building and cross-disciplinary studies make them a strong candidate for politics, despite not growing up rooted in politics. They care and are passionate about their work, and it’s easy to feel that through the few conversations I’ve had with them. I’m positive others who have interacted with Representative Keeting know exactly what I’m talking about.
Representative Keeting is currently running for re-election within the 10th District of New York State (Manhattan) and you can find their platform located on their website. Make sure you’re registered to vote, and get out to the polls this November!

Anyhow, my writing is still improving and my grammar isn’t the best, but I will definitely edit this out for any grammar mistakes on a later date.

^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^
Life has a funny way of turning sour things to sweet, and vice-versa. You never know when the wrong side of the coin will land on top, or when misfortune befalls on you.
You lived a comfortable life as the daughter of the shogun’s top general. Your upbringing and education were of the best quality, and your family were loving and supportive. As your family tradition dictated, every direct descendent of the family’s main branch were required to learn the art of the sword and martial arts.
You excelled at whatever given tasks, and even advanced to learning strategy and war tactics from your father himself. You were the perfect only daughter of the (y/l/n) clan, and the one who was given the hope of surpassing your father’s intellect and strategy. Your growing connections with the wealthy, the politicians, and influential people were making you a reliable future head of the family.
Until the day misfortune befell on your family, and ultimately on you.
The greatest and exemplarily man of your life had slipped up, and he and all of your family paid for it. The man who you called your father was found guilty of treason against the Bakufu by aiding various Jouishi extremist groups with supplies, investments, and most importantly, weapons. The most notable extremists of them all, the Kiheitai. The Army of the Demon Soldiers. By aiding these extremists, your father was taken and executed along with most of your family and servants.
Escaping with only your father’s precious sword, the (y/l/n) clan’s former glory and status had all but plummeted. You were all alone and being persecuted, with only a sword to really call your own.
Then you stumbled on the very people your father was helping with overthrowing the Bakufu. You don’t know what really happened, or how you became to join the Kiheitai officially. It was all a blur, a lot of noise, and a lot to process. Yet, you found yourself sitting amongst the dangerous leaders of the group instead of being forced to death by your family’s killers.
You found yourself quickly introduced into the ranks before you had completely assimilated the absence of your family. It was too much all at once, and to add to it, the mastermind behind her rescue was no other than the Kiheitai’s leader: Takasugi Shinsuke.
It was no secret to you—or to anyone—for the reason of your recruitment. He knew he had lost a valuable backer and spy with the death of your father—and he made it known that even if this setback their plans slightly—he still intended on using you and your connections amongst those who are willing to back the Kiheitai. And you willingly allowed it to happen. After all, the Bakufu were the reason for you losing everything that was dear to you, and you were not going to rest until you saw the corrupt organization burned to the ground.
Of course, ideals are all good and pure up until the dirty work came around. It wasn’t all sunshine and daisies, nor was it easy to work with experienced soldiers, tacticians, and assassins. Being second-guessed, fighting for your position, and defending yourself against the toughness of ral life; you were quickly maturing to a level you never imagined you will reach. Where once you were amongst the rich, now you were there amongst real people, real suffering, and real pain. You weren’t the spoiled brat that was able to defeat your father in a game of war anymore. You were someone else now, and you weren’t quite sure what that meant beyond the revenge you seek for your family, and for your father.
Amongst everything that happened; there was a silent supporter amongst some of the opposition you faced. He was quiet, always hearing his music and seemingly ignoring his surroundings. When listening to something he particularly liked, he will bob his head to the beat and make his teal green hair flutter with the movement. When you first arrived at their main base of operation, he was the one who silently guided you through the Kiheitai ranks and guided you to a new beginning for a new you. Your first impression of him did not go beyond that of a good-looking man and wondering what type music he was listening to. Now, he was a mentor of sorts, and you often accompany him in negotiations and transactions made between the extremists and Amanto mercenaries.
Now, in your current present, you were sitting by yourself in one of the observatory rooms of the ship. You saw the stars pass by you as the ship sailed into the black void. As you looked on, you held the last memento of your family close to you. Scattered around you were products that you needed to clean your father’s sword, and you ceremonially cleaned it with respect and care.
You hadn’t noticed there was someone else in the room.
Going on about your business, the man you thought about lately stood next to you. Looking up in surprise, you saw him keep his gaze on the sparkling stars. There was silence between you two, not awkward, but pure and simple silence. As you were about to go back to your cleaning and maintenance, you saw him settle down next to you after taking off his shamisen from his back and holding the instrument on his lap. At first, there was a pregnant pause before he spoke,
“Have you’ve gotten used to life here?”
It was a random question and so very out of the ordinary for him. He wasn’t a shy man, and he had no trouble speaking, but often enough he just chose not to. You knew him as being quiet and usually did not initiate any conversation unless he found some interest on what he saw or heard. Most of the time, when it was just you two, you will be the one to start the conversation. It was always work related though.
“You can say that… It is better than what fate and the Bakufu had in store for me back then,” You answered as you ran a soft rag over the long blade of your father’s katana.
“Are you comfortable?”
You looked at him quizzically, but you indulged him with an answer,
“Yes…”
“…You sound unsure.”
Bansai looked at you through his maroon rimmed shades. His light brown eyes staring right at your soul and maybe your inner thoughts. You sighed, looking away from him in hopes he took the hint and dropped the future topic. You really did not want to talk about your state of comfort to him with his weird interrogation/caring questioning. Instead, you decided to busy yourself looking at the stars and questioning him,
“Bansai-sama, with all due respect, what brings you here? I doubt you came to question me about trivial things as the state of my comfort.”
You didn’t mean to be rude or trying to get rid of his presence. You were merely questioning his motives. After all, this was extremely out of his character.
Without missing a beat, the man ignored your question and repeated his statement,
“You sound unsure.”
You sighed and turned to look at him. He seemed to have not moved at all from the position you last saw him in. His staring became a bit more intense, and finally you gave in after having a small staring match with him. With a sigh, you looked down at your sword and found your face being reflected on it.
“It’s not that I’m unsure. I am comfortable. I have food, a place to sleep, and a roof above my head. There is no need to worry about that. It’s just… I guess I just miss what I had…”
You paused. This is the first time you had ever talked to him about a personal matter… or to anyone to begin with. You were always busy with something else or making meetings with potential backers and the such. There was no real time to worry about comfort, or to remember. To remember what you took for granted, and how much you missed it.
Clearing your throat, you smiled forcefully and looked towards the man next you,
“Do not worry about me, Bansai-sama. I will be alright. You don’t have to worry about my performance or my ability to complete my duties. I will follow through our goal to my very end.”
Bansai stared back, and for a few moments the emotions in his eyes shifted into something soft before going back to being passive. Observing her as if she was something hard to understand.
Looking away with an embarrassed soft blush, you returned to cleaning your sword. At this point, you were just trying to make yourself busy rather than cleaning the sword. It was already clean to begin with.
A soft sigh came out from the man next to you before he spoke up,
“I had passed by to see if the room was empty. I was wrong, obviously… When I saw it was you… You held a sad expression.”
You almost didn’t catch the last part of his sentence, but for some reason it still rang in your ears loud and clear. A little stunned, you stared at him with a slightly confused face; mouth slightly agape.
This was the first time he had expressed any concern for you. Ever.
He looked down on his instrument and prepared himself to play it. Ignoring your existence for a moment, he started to play a tune. This was also the first time you heard the instrument being played in such proximity. Almost like a private concert. You were entranced by it at first, the movement of his skilled calloused hands and the concentrated expression he held on his face made him look different to you.
This was different from his usual demeanor.
Finishing up, he finally opened his eyes and looked at you. A little mesmerized you complimented him,
“That was amazing... so beautiful.”
He widen his eyes and his cheeks only so slightly turned pink, but he didn’t turn away from you.
“Thank you.”
You smiled a little before looking at the glass window, the black nothingness outside peppered with stars. The silence that transpired between you two stayed liked that for a few moments, and you decided to speak again,
“Father would’ve thrown a fit if he saw me following his footsteps. He would’ve for sure locked me in my room and tell me to study instead of playing with fire.”
She smiled down on your sword with a wistful expression. Raising it up, you let the light gleam on it’s sharp edge, “He often told me stories of the Joui wars, the amanto invasion, and how he served the Bakufu despite everything... The look on his eyes... they were those of a guilty man in a nightmare. I should’ve guessed his intentions from the very beginning.”
Your eyes started to water, and you let the sword rest on your lap. Biting your lips, you hid from the gaze of Bansai as you spoke again, “He wanted a different future for me... Ah dang it, I’m sorry... it’s been a few months and it still hurts so much... I don't even know what I am saying anymore. Forget-”
His voice interrupted you, “Instead of forgetting... and pretending to be strong in front of a man who also has known lose, you should remember the good and the bad times and let the tears flow. Do not pretend that it did not happen, it will only hurt more and for a longer time than what you will wish for. Instead, take it as the driving force to what makes you now, and what drives you to move forward. As twisted the path is, it is still forward. That is what (Y/Father’s/N)-dono would’ve said, I daresay.”
You were biting your lips so hard, you were sure to draw blood from them if you kept on trying to hold back the tears. A few traitor ones slipped by and finally a gasp for air was heard from you. Then there it was, you felt the few awkward comforting taps on your shoulder. You slowly turned your head to the only other person in the room, your eyes meeting slowly, a small hiccup leaving your lips before...
“... Bansai-sama? Are you alright?... You look... constipated.”
The man’s expression looked like it was in that sort of pain when you know it’s there but you can’t push it out because you think your whole existence will go with it. You know, THAT pain? Well that’s the look he had.
Bansai looked at you with a dangerous glare as you mentioned it to him. Removing his hand quickly, you couldn’t help but snort before starting to laugh even with the snot clogging your nose.
The tears you tried to hide became those of laughter, and the look that Bansai gave you was enough for you to die down a little. Cleaning a tear away, you sighed when you finally completely stopped.
“I needed that. Thank you Bansai-sama.” You gave him the brightest smile you could and he returned a semi-soft one in return.
“This is the first time I see you smile like that...” You gave him a surprised look, cheeks flushed, but nevertheless you gave him another one. You felt lax, and a little lighter. The hurt was still there, but the pain was easier to bear today than yesterday.
He held a smile as well, not as expressive, but definitely reached his passive eyes. This was the first time you saw him show so much emotions to you, and you felt a different connection to him from the one that had transpired earlier.
There was always a first time for everything, and that time in the observatory was the first time to a blooming relationship.

ok henlo everyone it’s eliza again with a(nother) brand new muse! like this post for plots!! chances are i’ll slide into ur discord dms since it’s easier for me to plot there than on tumblr ( but obvi if ur not in the discord i’ll hit you up on here!! )
𝒽𝓊𝓂𝒶𝓃 𝒶𝓅𝓅 ( shelley hennig. female, she/her, streetcar + daniel caesar. ) well, would ya’ look at SOPHIA MITCHELL this year? i’ve heard they’re a full 27 years young, and are a PERSONAL TRAINER at CHURCH STREET BOXING GYM, and you can always find them sipping an ICED COFFEE when they TAKE LONG WALKS THROUGH THE CITY. during the night, you can always find them going home to BROOKLYN by LYFT. (eliza, 18, she/her, cst)
basic stats.
full name: sophia olivia mitchell
age: 27
pronouns: she/her
sexuality: bisexual
occupation: personal trainer
background. * tw for death mentions
sophia was born and raised in suburban georgia with her older half-brother milo and her younger sister
for the most part her childhood was pretty normal, though she was always sort of the wild child of her family; but that was more a symptom of being a middle child than of anything abnormal in her upbringing
and then when she was 15, her parents died in a tragic car accident
this led to milo legally adopting her, which sophia was not happy about
she was grateful that he would put his own life on hold for her and their sister, of course, but he was also only three years older than her and it just rubbed Ms. Independent Adult (aka sophia mitchell) the wrong way
she was also utterly grief-stricken by the loss of her parents and didn’t really know how to handle their deaths, which led to her lashing out even more
this is when her rebellious side started going from “normal teenage bullshit” to “deliberate and potentially harmful acts of defiance”
after a while, she signed up for a boxing gym and started funneling a lot of her grief and aggression into more healthy means
sophia never went to college
this was for a couple reasons: first, she didn’t really think college was for her, it just wasn’t really her scene; two, her grades slipped a lot during that rebellious phase so she wouldn’t have been able to get in anywhere good anyway (or at least that’s what she convinced herself); and third (even though she would never admit this), she didn’t want to put milo under the stress of having to find a way to support her through an expensive college education on top of just trying to cover the cost of living
since she didn’t have a college degree, sophia worked a lot of odd- and part-time jobs to help milo out
when their younger sister got into college in new york, milo decided to go with her; not wanting to be the one left behind, sophia decided to tag along as well
she got a little apartment in brooklyn and managed to score a job as a personal trainer at a boxing gym in manhattan
personality overview.
+ witty, independent, quick-thinking
- short-tempered, mean, brash
mbti type: entj
zodiac: aries
archetype: the rebel
random facts.
sophia is a genuinely good and loving person under her layers of Rude Bitch, Sarcastic Little Shit, and Rebel Girl; she just struggles to show her emotions a lot of the time and is bad at communicating feelings
she tries! just fails a lot
she’s definitely the “i bully with love” friend
basically sophia is an extra toasted marshmallow; a charred crust hiding a warm gooey center
boxing is her life tbh, it’s the thing that drew her out of her depression after her parents’ death; the gym is always where she goes when she has a problem
BASICALLY sophia is a weird enigma of super feisty and angry and mean, but also like... deeply caring and smart and funny
wanted plots.
so my BIG BIG wanted plot for sophia is that she gets turned into a vampire. she’s very very down to get turned, it’s not something she’s scared of at all, so if you have any vamps who might be willing to turn somebody,, hmu
of all of my muses, sophia is the least likely to have like. actual close friends, but i’d like some people that maybe she gets drinks with every so often and stuff like that. more casual acquaintances than anything
somebody (or multiple somebodies) who will push all the wrong buttons and piss sophia off 25/8... yes pwease
exes! sophia is definitely the type to have her fair share, be they old flings or just fwb situations that ended for some reason, or more serious relationships that ended amicably/badly/horribly/etc. i’m open to discussion but it’s something i’d definitely like to explore!!
