Prompt 168
So. Apparently halfas are like phoenixes or something, which Danny would’ve really liked to know.
See, usually with ghosts if they’re forced to retreat to their cores they reform as was, but apparently, since they’re still partially living, schrodinger's people and all that, halfas have to regrow their body from scratch. At least that’s what he’s understanding from Frostbite.
But how come he has to deal with it? It’s Dan’s fault for trying to pull such a stunt! Oh, it’s either him or Vlad? Well fuck, he might have calmed down and is going to therapy in both the living realm and the Zone, but he’s waaay not equipped to raise a child except for like, monetarily wise.
Well dammit, how long will this core incubation thing last, he has his new job in… let him check which offer he accepted again… He has his new job in Coast City that he needs to finish packing for and then all the rest of the stuff to do.
What do you mean it’ll take months?! He doesn’t have months?! Urgh, fine. At least being a mortician isn’t that exciting, nor dangerous. Just hand him Dan’s core and he’ll figure things out for the living side of things. He’s sure Tucker and Sam wouldn’t be against helping, if only to try and claim favorite aunt or uncle spots.
#dcxdp#dpxdc#prompts#Coast City is where Hal Jordan lives hilarious enough#I just chose a random city but honestly a green lantern city is hilariously on brand for where Danny would choose to move#He’s just a cheerful space core dude who is glaring down several ghosts & helping others move on while he’s working#He’s also slightly uncanny valley to people outside of Amity & doesn’t realize it#He runs into a reporter Wes at some point & okay the fact he looks like the lady doing math meme when seeing Dan?#Utterly hilarious#Danny holding a newborn with matching slightly pointy ears and claws :)#Wes who is *pretty sure* Danny is cis but is second guessing everything now:#Danny is going to do his best to avoid any hero BS#He’s trying to do his JOB#Who cares if he brings his baby to work he needs to eat and he isn’t going to hire a babysitter#Bby Jordan tried to set the house on fire during his last tantrum do you THINK anyone else can deal with him? That’s what he thought now ou#Ellie visits as well & straight up melts out of the wall sometimes like a horror movie#She has weaponized her goo powers and is also excited to show her dad her new gravity ones#Space Core Danny + Fire Core Vlad = Sun Core Dan#Ellie has a Moon core (something something phases of the moon & travelling across the night sky)#Danny is encountering so many rogues and heroes and just doesn’t acknowledge it because he has a literal BABY who can destroy the entire JL#He’s very tired and would like a nap now

Pensiero Stupendo by Patty Pravo
since nobody talked about it except italian fans: just before the sauna scene, during the storm, a song about a throuple is playing!
and this is so from art's pov and fitting the ending so well. the interpretations of the song are also very interesting. i'll never stop thanking luca for all of this.

In the “billy parents the girls” au, I wonder how Sam and Billy would react to Tara being attacked by ghostface? Like one overprotective and “slightly” unstable family member wasn’t enough.
Somebody knows.
That's his first thought. Maybe he should have known something would happen on the 20th anniversary. He never thought it would come back to him. After all, there was a 'Ghostface attack' just five years prior, and it was all about Sidney. Why wouldn't it continue to be all about Sidney? Billy's dead after all.
He should have moved out of Woodsboro. It's always been risky, staying. But this was his home, and by the time he'd given up entertaining the thought of revenge against Sidney, he'd put down roots. He'd thought about moving a few years ago, when the last attacks happened and the police started sniffing around for information, but the girls had friends here, and Sam's never quite treated him the same since she learnt the truth. She would never have agreed to leave.
So here he is, staring Deputy Judy Hicks right in the face, unrecognised. God these people must be stupid, to look him right in the eyes and still not see him. He manages to talk his way back into the house with a well-placed quip about the absence of their good Sheriff and a reminder that his 14-year-old daughter, her own son's friend, who was attacked, is going to need some comforts of home and her inhaler.
He pauses to take in the murder scene on the way. He memorises the pattern of blood soaked into the living room carpet, the outline of his little girl, the kitchen knife abandoned on the floor. His own knife. They used his own knife on his daughter. When he finds out who did this, he's going to make them pay.
He packs a bag, he packs Tara's essentials, a change of clothes for Sam and the teddy bear she denies sleeping with. He heads for his own room to get some things, and that's when he learns somebody really does know.
Because Billy is scrawled across his bedroom wall in red.
Red is all he sees.
#/mp#ask box#Billy Loomis#AU: the past in the present#the tags tag#I love making baby Tara be attacked. it's so tragic.#the urge to make Sidney Ghostface here is astronomical lmao#anyway what are the logistics of there being two Mr Carpenters in Woodsboro technically and both have been seen being a father to Sam? Idk.#Billy's like 'Christina had a type what can I say'. Her husband left because he discovered the truth and he got to step up.#God I have so many thoughts about where this could go now actually#Like say it WAS Sidney. Who couldn't take knowing Billy was out there still. After everything she just couldn't take it.#She was never going to kill the girl. She just wanted to injure her. Scare her. Get Billy's attention.#But the girl fought back with unexpected ferocity. Things got out of hand. Billy uncovers her in the end and finally gets his revenge.#Gale and Dewey are distraught. Gale investigates. She discovered the truth. Billy Loomis is alive. She reveals it to the world.#Billy finally gets arrested. Tara doesn't take the reveal well.#Sam is old enough to take custody of her sister. She does her best. It isn't good enough. They both spiral.#Just a few years later her sister gets attacked AGAIN. This time it's so much worse.#Her injuries are so much more severe and the perpetrators were people they loved. It wasn't even about Billy this time.#It was about some fucking movie.#Sam moves them to New York after that. But everyone knows who they are. The daughters of a serial killer. With a body count of their own.#There's just no escape.

i try not to think about the Authority movie. but i think one of the biggest indicators of how bad/good it will be, before we get anything substantial, is how they cast Shen.

nimona thoughts! still my top movie of the year so far!!
been thinking about how to frame my thoughts on this gem, and I ultimately arrived at a bit of a pretentious jumping-off point. but honestly, my favorite stories are always the ones that end up demoting the whats, the hows, and sometimes even the whos in service of the whys. it's the hardest question and context to tackle in any story, and it's worth interrogating the most in order to find any true meaning, any connection at all to what's told.
nimona shows exactly why walling yourself away from the "others" isn't good enough. it shows why you have to do the work and see them.
not just that it is dogmatically "the right thing to do". not just depicting what certain systemic injustices are, how they are deployed, and who they are targeted at. but the why. that simplest, purest shape of questioning an injustice dating back to your gentlest time as a child, when you were vulnerable, naive, and truly curious in the best possible faith. the question you would always ask was why.
you are picking up a sword to threaten the unknown. you've been told the whos and whats. you parse it thus. but you don't know the why. you are watching this happen on TV, contextualized, simplified, dramatized. you are connecting the dots. understanding the why.
nimona painstakingly drills down on that why. arduously, achingly digging past the institutions of fear fed by cycles of indoctrination and right down to the core of it. packaged in a simple-to-parse fantasy world built with deft, elegant metaphors and archetypes that immediately fall into place and make sense to a person of any age.
it is animation as a medium and fantasy as a genre both working in concert. a fun and colorful romp that ends on a gentle embrace of reassurance that tells children - both literal and the ones buried deep inside adults - that their first question to the world was always the correct one. because it was the kindest.

ahh I hope you don't mind me writing a silly little backstory for Prim @whyeverr !
When Primrose returned to her hometown of Evergreen harbor 5 years ago, she was not expecting everything to spiral into chaos. The world as she knew it had changed, and now crazed townies roamed the streets with no sign of her family. She held out hope that maybe they had all survived, and perhaps evacuated. They were strong and capable, surely nothing bad happened to them while she was away. As a child, they would share stories of how they once fought together to end a world ending threat much like this one, but who'd ever believe those fairytales? vampire hunting? Nothing more than a mere legend. Well, Primrose believed it even though something deep inside her told her it was just ridiculous. These stories though, it was the only thing that kept her moving forward and her will to survive and find her family only grew stronger with each passing day. She remained confident in her abilities to see this through to the end, no matter how long it would take. And she waits, alone in hiding...hoping that soon she could work toward a better future. Whatever needs to be done, she'll help any way she can with what few skills she has. It's what her ancestors would have done....(supposedly)

It's so funny when tangled stans say that Disney didn't rip off barbie as Rapunzel and that the reason why they are similar to each other is because they are both based on the same fairy tale. I'm guessing they never read or know the "original" fairy tale (not surprising since they only seem to watch tangled and nothing else) because barbie as Rapunzel had plot points and character that were never in the fairy tale itself, like Rapunzel being a painter.
Plus, I've watched and read so many Rapunzel adaptations over the years. They don't have the same plot points as barbie as Rapunzel, and none of them have ripped off barbie as Rapunzel like tangled.
They can keep lying to themselves about this, but the truth is that Disney clearly ripped off barbie as Rapunzel.
