got back from the most emotionally exhausting thanksgiving break of my life this morning n realized i have two papers due in the next two weeks - three if you count the late one i need to edit, format, and submit - as well as an oral exam, and then the week after that my poetry portfolio for the semester is due and the day after that i have my final written exam and then three to four days after that i drive back home (to my parents and their failing marriage) with a friend and then five days after that is christmas and four days after that i get top surgery and a week after that i have my post-op appointment and not two weeks after that i come back up to school to start my spring semester! and through all of this i have to like. eat meals and budget and exist in the presence of other people.

#also ! found out AT THANKSGIVING DINNER from my grandma that my grandpa has dementia !#so . it is going !#badly!#but!!!! i have poems to write for class !!!!!!!!#and then an essay to work on!#so i am tabling all of my stress and grief and exhaustion and overwhelm to do that studying! and i will continue to do so until i go home!#at which point i will be cohabitating with the primary source of my grief and exhaustion!#and also getting a MAJOR SURGERY #and the last time i got a major surgery my dad texted me in between bombarding my mother with texts and phone calls #to tell me that he was deleting and blocking her contact !#and then like The Week After That he was gonna walk out for a night .#so i am not counting on an easy recovery :)#BUT ANY . WAYS .#time to go write some poems .#speak

I think a lot about Leo standing up for his brothers in the things that really matter to them.

Like- Leo is the one who immediately pushes Mikey and Donnie into finding Raph the second it’s clear that their oldest brother is missing because he knows Raph can’t handle being separated like that.

Leo is the one who stands up for Mikey when Mikey wants to go on a solo mission, actively vouching for him and being the one to convince Raph into letting Mikey go, because being independent and proving himself just as capable of standing on his own two feet as everyone else means so much to Mikey.

And Leo defends Donnie’s honor in particular when his brothers’ intelligence is insulted because Leo is well aware of how important Donnie’s smarts are to him - and how important having those smarts valued and acknowledged is as well.

All this goes right into just how well Leo knows his brothers. For as much as he’ll tease or fight with them, he knows them, and he loves them.

I’m sorry but can you imagine the impact Isaac’s death had on the rest of the gang. No one knowing what to do but watching Arthur change. Arthur losing himself, drinking constantly, going through episodes of uncontrollable rage to being emotionally vacant, where he asks Hosea (post-Bessie) if he’ll ever feel anything again. Nights where they think they can hear Arthur crying in his closed tent, and there’s an unspoken fear they could lose him. Fear that Arthur is going to die with his son, whether it’s drinking or increasingly reckless missions where it feels like he’s not trying to dodge bullets, or if one day he’s going to go off on a hunting trip and be found months later as a corpse with a gun still in his hand.

But he somehow pulls through. Recovers, or represses the grief enough to masquerade as okay. Starts smiling again.

John not understanding how devastating that grief could be until he’s holding his own son - a tiny fragile baby and knowing he already loves him too much. He doesn’t know how to be a parent, he doesn’t know how it’s possible to love something so much. He does know he could never be as strong as Arthur, because if anything happened to that tiny baby he wouldn’t be able to live. It’s terrifying, knowing something so small could destroy him. So he puts up walls: maybe it's not his baby. Still loves him. Tries to avoid Abigail and the baby. Still loves him.

He has to leave. Before that baby kills him.

New silly headcanon because my main source of enjoyment from star wars is making myself sad thinking about that sad old man.

When Obi-Wan returns to Padmé's ship after cutting Anakin down, Threepio has already brought Padmé inside. Being the fussy neat freak he is, he has also brought Obi-Wan's and Anakin's robes inside the ship: they are nowhere to be found on the floor.

And Obi-Wan, being the sad, broken man he is, held on to Anakin's robe for the next 20 years. This is why he has Anakin's gameboy advanced! Because it was in Anakin's robe!
