Every so often I go down these rabbit holes on Wikipedia of royals and nobles on the British Isles and something that always stands out to me is that so many of the marriages are political, so many are between minors (as young as 14 on both sides, engagements even younger), and neither side really has a choice.
Like for example, Arthur Tudor was engaged to Catherine of Aragon when he was like 2 years old and married when he was 15 (Catherine was 16). He did exchange letters with his betrothed (in Latin!) but only met her a few weeks before the wedding. He said he was very happy to marry his wife, but did he really have a choice? He might just have been making the most of it or obeying like the child that he still was.
Girl Being Forced to Marry For Political Reasons Against Her Will is such a common trope, and maybe it's more of the focus because women had less power in marriage and less ability to take lovers, but it seems like a lot of these marriages were people who were both basically told whom they would marry. Just because men can keep having sex with whomever they want doesn't mean that they haven't lost anything in these interactions and that it wouldn't do emotional damage. And the putting on a nice public face would be similar for both of them.
Anyway, maybe a writing idea? I'm not sure where I'm going with this, except that I feel for these young and powerful men who were often as much pawns in their parents' schemes for influence as the girls.

thinking about this writing prompt with Nat and Y/N. Where Nat is a pretty high up SHIELD agent as usual, but Fury still won't tell her who she's reporting to, citing it as 'above her clearance'. So she comes back home, to her wife, grumbling about how unfair her 'company bosses' are for not trusting her with 'corporate secrets', while Y/N is giggling to herself as she comforts her poor wife and agrees that her higher ups must be real idiots to not trust her (and maybe one day Nat's 'handler' laughs about how 'we're all idiots here, hm?' to get Natasha to finally realise who her handler is)

Rules for a Proper Governess, which is what I'm approaching as a "everything you like about Sir Philip Book but without the bullshit" novel, thus far features:
--a pickpocket heroine who steals the lawyer hero's shit, after which he chases her down to the like... basement... where she lives? Goes "bitch you live like this???", has a minor panic attack about his dead wife, and passes out
--(he wakes up and realizes she's like dragged his unconscious form so that his head is on some pillows lmao I died)
--(they make out when he wakes up)
--he does a good "get your head IN THE GAME, Sinclair!!!" @ himself, only to come home like two days later (during which she JUST. STALKS HIM.) to find that his governess has left because his children are nightmares, our heroine is there because stalking, and the kids love her
--so he's just like "FINE. YOU CAN BE GOVERNESS FOR NOW" before watching her walk away and resigning him to just. not sleeping. because boner.
Already, \this is much better.

in the flowers in the palace au, when did lwj realize that she was in love with wwx? It seems like she knows by the first part of the series, since lqr is trying to encourage lwj to marry and she's refusing, so did lwj fall in love when wwx was studying at the cr (if that happened in this verse)?
Lan Wangji's love realization happens when Wei Wuxian breaks into the Cloud Recesses to comfort her in "for myself, in my frenzied heart." This doesn't have much to do with Lan Wangji's refusal to marry; she was simply raised differently from most other girls in the FITP universe, because Lan Qiren and Qingheng-jun knew they could rely on Nie Mingjue to protect her after their deaths through NMJ's marriage to Lan Xichen.
During Lan Wangji's childhood, Nie Mingjue's father was a high-ranking general who controlled the most important military garrison in the empire, and LQR/QHJ were confident that Lan Wangji would be free to live the life she wanted (and stay safe from power plays within the Lan clan) as long as LXC had the Nie family behind her. Thus, LWJ was allowed to choose the subjects she studied after she came of age; and when she decided to pursue higher studies in music and weapons training instead of learning how to manage a household, QHJ didn't object.
By 21, Lan Wangji would have found it extremely difficult to fulfill any of the responsibilities of a gentry wife, so QHJ/LQR never considered marrying her off until Qin Su joined NMJ's harem as a concubine (signaling a loss of favor/power on Lan Xichen's part).

Yelena hearing Natasha tell her not to spike the engine, looking at Natasha with love and regret and then doing what she has to do.
Natasha seeing Taskmaster approaching fast, looking at Yelena with love and regret and then doing what she has to do.
Natasha, letting go, falling to save Yelena.
Natasha, letting go, falling to save everyone.

I didn't forget about her!
So, here's that proposed Black Arachnia based oc(ish), Black Widow!
Tumblr media
I made a few posts about her but she'd be a youngling alongside Sideswipe, Strongarm, and Influx in the "rid15 without the rid15" time period I discussed, I'll self reblog the posts but she leans more into tfa BA's scientist theme and spider based altmode— but without the trauma

What's up with your sims game?👀
thank you for this entirely unprompted question anon !!!
okay so I've been playing a Sims 3 lepacy challenge for about a year now (maybe longer). Not non-stop but when I play Sims I play with this family. A lepacy challenge is like a legacy challenge, except the goal is to play one expansion (EP) per generation and complete a Lifetime Wish from it.
The current Sims in the household are from generations 4, 5, and 6. Generation 4 has the elder Corin and his younger cousin the adult Viola, Generation 5 has her three young adult children Kate, Paris, and Alice, +Alice's imaginary-friend-turned-real-girl girlfriend Yorik, and Generation 6 has Kate's toddler daughter Audrey.
Generation 4's EP is TS3:Late Night. Late Night added a celebrity system, vampires, and a lot of nightlife, among other things. When I first moved the family to Bridgeport, it was Corin, his older/younger brother Tybalt (Tybalt was born first in my game but Corin actually was a time machine child and came out as a child when Tybalt was still a toddler), and his cousin Viola. When they moved Corin and Tybalt were young adults and Viola was a teenager. So we've been in Bridgeport for SO LONG.
Tybalt's lifetime wish was Master Romancer, to WooHoo with five different Sims. I actually completed it, and with an extra challenge that they had to be celebrity Sims. But he had such a bad relationship with the rest of his family by the end that I thought it was better for the story to just kick him out. He was annoying and sleazy as fuck lol.
Now, I am working on completing Corin and Viola's LTWs. Corin's is the Distinguished Director LTW. He has to get to the top of the Film career but I am worried he won't be able to! He is an elder now, and he's level 8 of the career (Screenwriter). But with holidays, people's graduations and stuff, and his days off per week, it's so hard for him to advance bc he hardly ever goes to work!! I am really worried he will die before completing his dream lol.
Viola is actually my heiress (she has a pretty crazy backstory too if anyone wants to hear it sometime) and her LTW is One Sim Band. She has to master Guitar, Bass, Piano, and Drums skills. She has done ALL BUT DRUMS. She is drums level 8 and I am SO IMPATIENT. Because once Corin and Viola are done...
I CAN MOVE THE FAMILY TO APPALOOSA PLAINS!! Appaloosa Plains is my favorite world in TS3, I am SO nostalgic for it because Pets was one of the only EPs I had as a kid. The generation 5 (Generations) folks all have base game LTWs, because Generations didn't come with it's own LTWs. So they can all be completed in Appaloosa Plains. I am honestly so sick of Bridgeport and the family being celebrities lol. I want to move them to the country!!
I am so excited because Kate's toddler, Audrey, is generation 6 (Pets). I AM GONNA MAKE HER A HORSE GIRL!! And she's also a vampire. IT'S GONNA BE SO 2009!!!
I am literally so impatient lol. Let them out!!!
Kate has been extremely unlucky in love in Bridgeport so I am really envisioning her leaving the city behind and finding a nice country boy/girl 😢😢. Just need Viola to grind drums... keep grinding drums... and for Corin to either go to work or die. Teehee.

Because Tina and I have been discussing our extended dual-MC universe I had to draw grown-up Nadia. I’m not even gonna fandom tag this, at this point there’s like, one canonical character who plays a central role XD

I just thought about something. There was the whole thing with moving Thor's hammer in Age of Ultron... but remember that Widow refused to even try, saying it wasn't something that she wanted to try... do you think, assuming that Steve could have lifted Thor's hammer at the time and simply backed down because he didn't really see a reason to wield it, since it could cause trouble with Thor, that Widow would have been considered worthy or not? I'm guessing the answer is 'no she's not worthy' but I'm still curious~
I think Nat rightfully assumed it was a pissing contest and didn't want to join in.
I also think that Nat wouldn't have thought herself worthy and didn't need Mjolnir to tell her that (or to affirm the assumptions she was sure most of the others would have with regards to her worthiness - whether those assumptions were founded or not).
Beyond that, we'd have to look at the characters we know Mjolnir did qualify as worthy for commonalities between them (Thor, Vision, Steve (I'm not taking Jane into account here because although she WAS worthy, TLAT went a weird way of "she's worthy because Thor told Mjolnir to take care of her" and also she's much more complicated and also we're talking about characters defined worthy at the period of time in AOU (as opposed to potential worthiness later))) - and the main commonalities I see between those three is their innocence in doing good and their belief in the goodness of people.
Hope and faith and love, mainly, towards the normal person and a desire to protect that, which is roughly how Thor regains his worthiness in his first movie - he sacrificed himself for the common man, who he had grown to love and had faith and hope in their being good, etc. (It's been a while since I've seen the movie, don't judge me.) You can also see all of these in Steve and Vision VERY LOUDLY.
I think by Endgame, Nat's sacrifice very clearly demonstrates all of the above - or at least those as given to her fellow Avengers - and at that point, yeah, I would say she was worthy.
And I certainly think she has those in abundance towards her fellow Avengers in AOU (and I think Civil War semi-supports this - she sides with Steve because she trusts her Avengers family over the government, and she turns on Tony because she trusts in Steve and the validity of what he says about Bucky).
But I think, as a spy, Nat has a level of distrust and suspicion towards average people that you're not going to find in either Steve or Vision. Not that she believes everyone she runs into is bad, but that she's used to seeing everyone else as a potential antagonist or spy or something else in disguise. And she's definitely using Hulk instead of Banner, quite against what Banner specifically wants (we see this later on in AOU in the Battle of Sokovia), which is a clear decision of what she thinks they need to win over trusting in her fellow Avenger to know what is best for him.
So I would say that no, in AOU, I don't think Mjolnir would consider her worthy. (But that's character arcs! Progression! I think it's possible she's worthy in CW, but there's still that learning to trust the other Avengers to know what they need - which is the Steve choice - and then trusting them fully in Endgame - there's the progression of worthiness there!)
...which isn't getting into everything else, etc.
