She has such a big heart and is genuinely so sweet and caring and is ride-or-die as fuck for the people she cares about. Also she's just so fucking funny and she has these ditzy moments that are so comedically underrated.

least favorite thing about them

I don't like when the writers would use her to air grievances about cast members (but I also think "every time you so much as cooked macaroni and cheese together or farted" is funny and I'm sorry but I can't help but laugh every time I hear that). I also didn't like the dodgeball thing from s3 because it felt like the writers trying to justify Finn outing her (which absolutely isn't justified at all and I hate that there's still people in the fandom trying to act like it was). Also just like with Brittany's 'angry lesbians' comment, I didn't like the whole 'you need a 100% Sapphic goddess' conversation and the biphobia, especially considering it required two actual bi people (Naya and Demi) to utter those words (yikes).

I wish she could have stood up for herself a bit more when the feud with Rachel was resolved (because yeah maybe she took it too far but it wouldn't have gone there if Rachel hadn't overreacted to begin with).

idk if I'd necessarily say "least favourite" more than "most noticeable flaw" but she tends to spiral when she doesn't have control of a situation, which leads to things like the whole Artie situation and later the whole leprechaun thing.

(also ... again more of a "most noticeable flaw" thing than anything else I think she has low self-esteem and a fear of success but I could write an essay on that so we'll save that for another day)

That I think she's overhated??? No fr I have no patience for people who call her irredeemable or a terrible person because she wasn't. Santana is best girl point blank period, and in my opinion, even though I love a lot of the other characters as well, she was the best part of Glee.

Santana's version of Don't Rain On My Parade is the superior version.

In terms of some fanon things, fuck JKR but Santana's not a Slytherin and I'll die on that hill. I'm not a fan of the cutesy nicknames people give her in fanfiction. Also her abuela would never allow her middle name to be Diabla so fuck Ryan Murphy for putting that into the universe.

(also idk if this is an unpopular opinion or not but the people who are whining that kevin and jenna talk about naya/santana too much on their podcast seriously need to get a life)

Thank you for talking about weight stigma for skinny people /g when i saw "I'm sorry this happened one time" I flinched because I spent ~3 hours the other day with my partners detailing the multiple times through my life that I was mistreated for being naturally thin. And those are only the times i remember lmao

I was accused on more than one occasion of having an eating disorder (by doctors and teachers) because I was thin. It came up at any and every family event. I'm not going to detail the more triggering things, but it certainly wasn't just hearing "eat a sandwich" once

I still believe i have more privilege as a thin person, ofc, but holy shit erasing experiences is not the way to promote body positivity.

Not sure if it came across, but I'm really against excluding people from discussion, especially when it's the kind of issue that effects everyone. Even if some of those effects aren't as immediately noticeable or understood based on appearance, everyone should be able to know their feelings are valid.

It's similar to the generalized and accepted facts of trauma, in my head. Just because someone "had it worse than you" it doesn't invalidate the bad things that you experienced. It's not a competition. Suffering isn't a game that you can win, and your size shouldn't define you.

It should be that easy. It's not, obviously, but it should be.

It just means that we should systematically go through the bad things that happen, and do what we can to ensure that those bad things stop happening.

We're all people. We all deserve to feel safe, to feel accepted. To feel and know that we are allowed to be happy, to feel like we are enough without changing or being different. And cutting out people based on appearance is the exact opposite of what I feel the ultimate goal of body positivity should be. Of what society should be.

Even if you haven't spoken up in discussion about an issue, learning that if you did you wouldn't be taken seriously, even be repudiated, is not helpful. It just builds resentment and hurt, people get defensive or change previously accepting mindsets because they feel attacked or shunned, and the cycle won't ever end if we keep perpetuating it.

Never, in the history of anything, has "othering" and excluding people, villainizing or marginalizing them, been good for a cause or for a good cause.

it bothers me so much how people make the whole matt/sofia age gap thing into such a big deal just to invalidate portwell. as if this isn't a literal disney show. sorry for the negativity, i just saw a bunch of people talking about it today and it just soured my mood.

yeah, that bothers me too. and don’t apologize! i’ve actually wanted to address this for a while but just never brought it up.

it’s really just one more example of #those shippers’ hypocrisy and how they say literally whatever they can to fit the narrative they’re spinning that r*na = good and portwell = bad.

on the one hand, they make the usual comments about the actors’ age gap. this is valid, because i’m not here to tell anyone what they should and shouldn’t be comfortable with.

five years is a sizeable difference especially with one of them being a minor still, and as much as it hurts my portwell heart, i get why the show withheld that kiss from us. i’m honestly glad they did it too because 1) i now have that to look forward to in s3 and 2) if portwell had kissed in the finale, all the haters would’ve erupted and created a kissgate scandal and the scene would be kinda tainted by all of that negative discourse about it being gross/wrong. i think it’s much better that we get the kiss only once sofia turns 18 and there’s no valid reason for people to complain anymore.

all of this that i just talked about is (imo) a valid thing to be worried about when it comes to portwell, if i was thinking from the perspective of someone who doesn’t ship them (we gotta try to take the high road here, right?). what’s not valid at all is using the fact that there’s an age gap to draw your own illogical conclusions, like “matt and sofia didn’t kiss in the finale because they’re clearly uncomfortable filming a kiss.” don’t make dumb extrapolations without knowing anything.

i saw so many r*nas take matt’s words and just twist them around beyond recognition. in the live the day before the finale, he talked about how he and sofia were laughing a lot during the “hey babe” scene - which was a little awkward bc of their heights being so similar (and tbh i noticed it looking a little weird too but just from the back. but anyways it’s only bc of the boots sofia was wearing in that scene otherwise it’d be fine). and of fucking course they heard that as “portwell is awkward because no chemistry = they shouldn’t be together”

so many people are just pulling out of their asses that matt/sofia aren’t on board with portwell (when they’ve both been nothing but supportive and matt literally rambles on about pw making each other happy in every interview), they’re super awkward and uncomfy with it, etc. first of all: them laughing during takes and not being able to contain their laughter is because they’re best friends irl. it’s pretty obvious that they’re like one of the coolest dynamic duos to come out of this show and that they get along really well. they’re also super chaotic and laugh all the time.

none of that has anything to do with them having onscreen chemistry as screen partners. it’s very common that relationships and chemistry onscreen are reflections of real friendships offscreen, even if they’re not romantic in nature. the first example i can think of off the top of my head is jennifer and josh from the hunger games. they’re chaotic best friends and they’ve always said they love each other platonically, but no one would dare say they don’t have chemistry as their characters. that’s part of what makes portwell so appealing, and rina too. they capitalize on the natural chemistry between the actors. obviously this doesn’t mean the actors have any sort of feelings towards each other, i mean, nobody says that about sofia and josh, right? it’s literally just about how they play off each other. which is why chemistry readings exist and why they were all cast opposite each other in the first place. if you think about it, each of the core four has chemistry with the three others.

but okay, even if i were to play devil’s advocate and go along with the r*na line of thinking that matt/sofia don’t have any chemistry and only give off sibling vibes, the logic still crumbles. if the relationship btwn the actors is a siblings relationship / no chemistry, then why are all of them so pressed about the ship and the age gap? they’re only saying the age gap btwn the actors is weird because of the romantic connotation (which isn’t even about the actors but yk r*na logic), so how can they also say that the same actors are incapable of creating a romantic connotation? which is it???

anyways, sorry for such a long answer to your ask 😭😭 this has just been pissing me off for quite a while.

disclaimer: i do NOT ship the actors in any way, and nobody should be doing that because sofia is a minor and shipping real people is not a good idea regardless. most portwell shippers know how to separate the characters from the actors and don’t do this anyways. we just gush about how cute we think matt/sofia’s irl friendship is, which ofc our wonderful r*na friends just love to take out of context.

hi, i was wondering what's your opinion on artists who make blindfolded challenges (for example, painting or sculpting blindfolded) i know this is just a fun concept that people do but i was wondering if this is in any way insensitive towards blind people who always have to make art "blinfolded" so to say. ofc blind people are capable of making good art, and that's why i'm wondering if these videos might be offensive?

On Blindfold Challenges and Blindness

Hi anon bean! Thanks for the question.

Most of the time, I ignore these challenges for my own peace or because they aren’t worth my time with how fleeting challenges usually are. I haven’t seen these videos myself, but I think it depends on how this is handled and spoken about. Since these blindfolding challenges are probably more consistently popular with artists, I think it is a good idea to discuss the topic.

I remember other general blindfolding challenges, which were without a doubt, ableist. People were doing things blind people do all the time without getting the same positive attention from it. (Not that blind people want attention, but it’s the principle of the matter, especially when blind people mostly get negative or harmful attention for doing the same things simply because they are living as a blind person.) With blindfolding challenges that pop up over the years, the issue also stems from people acting like it is impossible to do daily tasks while blindfolded (aka while blind) or crediting themselves with coming up with techniques blind people already came up with. Remember, blind people will do these things easily compared to sighted people making a game out of it. Blind people have training, personal experience, and assistive technology that sighted people simply don’t have and probably wouldn’t think of. Therefore, a blind person cooking is going to be different from a blindfolded person cooking, and reactions about how impossible cooking is while blindfolded or how impressive it was the person was able to cook while blindfolded are ignoring that blind people do such things every day. Sometimes we get treated negatively because of it.

I think my real issue with challenges like these is when they intentionally or unintentionally perpetuate the unconscious ideas of what blind people can and cannot do.

Therefore, I think how artists talk about this as they’re doing the challenge is important. These challenges bother me less because they aren’t about doing small everyday tasks. However, there are amazing blind artists out there making art as a hobby or career and such challenges could be viewed as devaluing their work or turning it into a joke for entertainment. Artists acting as if making art while blindfolded is impossible or will inevitably have a terrible result could also be annoying to deal with as a blind artist. Or hugely invalidating.

When it comes to artists doing such challenges, I think it would help if they acknowledged blind artists or donated some money to a nonprofit for blind people in their area. Ending the video with something like, “If you liked this video, check out these blind sculptors!” They could also mention assistive technology blind people would normally use while making art, which will show that they did research on the topic. It would also be helpful to add an audio description to the video for actual blind people who might want to watch. People in the audience who enjoy these challenges should also make an effort to support blind creators on their own instead of assuming they don’t exist.

These challenges will come and go. The idea is to give attention to the people who actually do these things while blind, because they may receive less attention because they can’t just remove a blindfold when the fun is over.

Posting something like this comes with worry about being called overly sensitive. While blind do have more important, systemic issues to worry about, instances of casual ableism change our lives. Blind artists also deserve recognition and money for their work. Even something seemingly harmless could have a negative influence on the lives of people who make careers out of art. It is important we give attention to these topics, too, because blind people live and work and enjoy hobbies, too.

Your post about queer relationships only existing safely for a lot of things inside fandom is so true tho. I remember when Loki was still airing and me and friends were sitting around wistfully going 'ohhh wouldn't it be nice of Lokius was canon.' making our silly little posts, only to be ransacked by Sy/ki shippers about how they'd win the ship war.

I had to look at that like :| of course you are you dumb fucks, Loki and Sylvie's actors are a man and a woman them 'winning the ship war' was a forgone conclusion. It can't even be called a canon ship 'war' more like a canon ship 'steamroll.'

It was the fact to me they couldn't stand even some people having a smidgen of hope for something that everyone knew was never going to happen.

loool I wasn't gonna name names buuuuut...yeah a little subblogging about that attitude within said fandom, though it's something I've seen to a certain degree in fandom spaces since I started interacting with them (around 98 or 99?). the compulsion to ridicule/invalidate queer pairings and the people that support them used to mostly be rooted in garden variety open, normalized homophobia (they were called 'slash' ships back then and were generally regarded as niche/'crack' pairings/sexually deviant etc even if neither character was ever sexualized in a fanfic/fanart whathaveyou).

In most mainstream fandoms of the time there really was a zero chance queer pairings would 'go canon' , aka 'win' at the 'shipping wars', something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve (/s) and no one on either side regarded any of these pairings with the pretense that they might actually be worthy competitors against a het ship- in the sense of 'winning' here being 'approved by capitalist overlords' and not necessarily in quality of writing or time spent developing it or depth or anything like that. Just if they kissed on screen or not, that was the bar lmao, and we all just assumed from the outset it would absolutely not ever happen that way and just kept to ourselves. But as our ships were still kind of considered 'weird' / 'kinky' / 'immoral' and so on people often felt comfortable trying to tear our interpretations, fanfics, etc into shreds (the only substance we actually had) either because it gave them a sense of superiority for a moment, just general homophobia, or because the ship in question had started gaining a lot of momentum and they were threatened by the implications of that. As if...there's some kinda rule that if one ship gets popular enough everyone has to adapt it and abandon all others, no questions asked lol.

Nowadays ofc being openly homophobic isn't as normalized as it was back then so you don't usually see the kind of uh...'saying the quiet part out loud' kinda stuff you'd see on yahoo groups and livejournal or whatever, but you definitely still see people feeling the need to explain why queer fans shouldn't try to adapt a source material around their own life experiences. And usually, these days, when there is much more of a chance of 'slash' being depicted openly, there's more skin in the game for them to feel intimidated and take petty action.

In the particular context we're talking about...and I'm not saying this is every person that ships it, just the ones exhibiting the behavior I'm talking about here, I think they are/were genuinely intimidated whether they were conscious of it or not bc Lokius is definitely depicted some type of way - they have a song named after them from the soundtrack, a reunion scene ripped straight from a romantic comedy, etc, and I mean...ultimately....Loki kinda chooses Mobius in the end. In a way lol. So did they really win, if indeed shipping needs to be seen as some kind of stupid competition?

And to be clear I'm not talking about having an opinion/criticisms of a ship and voicing them in places where people just trying to enjoy themselves are generally protected from see it, I'm talking about the clownery that is showing up in a ship's tag (either accidentally or otherwise) and doing the whole 'nyah nyah boo boo' stuff or in the attempt to be innocent 'am i the only one who doesn't ship this? DONT GET MAD AT MEEE' or the more direct 'if you ship this you are literally satan'

Because...why do that if your pairing choice is SO amazing and 100% the winner of the 'ship war' (that yall sometimes claim doesn't exist in the first place bc there is NOTHING romantic!! between loki and mobius!! FATHER SON RELATIONSHIP B/W TWO MIDDLE AGED MEN WE LOVE TO SEE IT)? why not just enjoy your amazing pairing and the fact that it's actually being represented on screen? why also tear down the people that lost and are just trying to cobble together a crumb of something for themselves? like imagine being that miserable of a person??

Awful representation, or lack of, gay (male) relationships

PSA BEFORE I SAY WHAT IM GONNA

I send love to any lesbians reading! My discussion of your issues aren't to invalidate them. Y'all do deserve better and I'm not tryna undermine you guys with any of this- just using your group as a comparison to point out the indiscrepancies! This is specifically about my observation of (lack of) gay media.

AIGHT to the point- lack of homosexual male representation/complete fetishisation.

Something that pisses me off to no avail is the lack of specifically homosexual man /relationship media there is. Look up 'lesbian representation' you'll find 30+ articles on good shows and relationships and media that not only has them but REVOLVES around them and the articles SAY lesbian. Ofc fetishisation is half the issue, and that ain't fair but theres still MARGINALLY more lesbian media now than there is gay media. Look up 'gay male shows' you'll find 600 articles saying LGBT and not talking abt us specifically, or examples like otome games or gross queerbaiting. Look up more popular lesbian ships and it's majority canon relationships. Gay men? It's fucking Dean and cas or other shit that the writers wrote just to get the audience to fetishise us. So fucking sick of it. No this isn't saying we're mOrE opPressEd cuz it isn't a competition, we all face shit being LGBT. But we deserve to see healthy, non fetishised, non oversexualised gay rep.

I was about to write a list of healthy gay relationships in media but I genuinely can't think of many. Mitch and cam (modern family)- which are written kinda stereotypically, some b plots of Degrassi, that's all I can think of. Even my favourites are toxic- Mickey and Ian (shameless) constantly beat each other up, so do Keith and David (6 feet under) and Eric/Adam (sex education) is insanely unhealthy for that lack of respect of boundaries, and the unhealthy power dynamic that happened pre-relationship. Lesbians legit get cute lil cartoon gems getting married on cartoon network and we get abuse, toxicity, or stereotyping, because people think there can't be abuse if the two people are physically equals. It's bs.

Not to mention the fetishising of gay men in media written for women! Aside from creating ships between men just to fetishise, say you're so sinful for enjoying the dynamics, write about them having sex etc (Women shouldnt write in detail abt gay relationships at ALL imo, same with men and lesbians). But aside from that there's shit like yaoi, fujoshis, otome mlm games, specific fucking GENRES to describe media about us MADE. FOR. WOMEN. TO FETISHISE.

This shit honestly bothers me more than actual verbal homophobia. It's so hypocritical of the community, people act like because gay man is the most known identity in the community by outsiders, doesnt mean we don't face specific types of discrimination no other LGBT person does (as every group does- not specific to us, E.g trans rep is basically non existent, asexuals too, and bisexuals are often called confused, unlabelled or 'exploring). Lesbian fetishisation is disgusting of course, but the difference is it's purely sexual, but gay fetishising takes it to a whole other level as to create fictional relationships between fictional, non gay, characters, and WRITE about them having sex, interacting, and they swoon over every aspect. Tell me how that's worse than a dude jacking it to two women in a video.

there are masculine enbies(i’m one😍). there are feminine enbies. there are enbies that are both or all or even none. some use he/him, some use she/they, some use neopronouns. the meaning of nonbinary is in the name - not fitting with what is the gender binary of male and female be it partially or completely. nb people may identify with binary aspects of gender but this does not invalidate their identity as nonbinary. this should be an obvious fact but you don’t have to look or act a certain way to be valid as nb. gender expression does not have to match with gender identity.

here’s some resources i found that are much better at explaining this than me👇🏻

please stop bothering and badmouthing people over characters that you have headcanons about. it’s really shitty behaviour and you should be embarrassed. let people have their fun. i think it’s cringe and immature if you block people for disagreeing with your headcanons but ofc you’re free to do what you want as long as you don’t hurt people. everyone enjoys fandom differently. some people like shipping, some people like creating complex aus and ocs. some people just want other people to talk about their interests with. theories and hcs are awesome(i have them too ;3) and they contribute so much to interest but instead of fighting people over fanon disagreements FOCUS ON HELPING AND PROTECTING REAL LIFE LGBTQ+ FOLKS. it’s very strange that one would get offended on the behalf of a cookie that they headcanon as nonbinary, and constantly whine about fictional characters(whose genders aren’t even specified sometimes😭) getting “misgendered” yet contribute nothing to benefit actual nonbinary people. it feels so very.......what’s the word i’m thinking of........ performative?

since we're talking about nepotism, it's always insane to me how like almost every actor whether they're huge movie stars or just somewhat popular had parents or some other relatives in the industry or otherwise just grew up in the industry in some way. everytime i watch a movie i always have to google the actors and I'd say about 90% of them had parents who acted or went to insanely expensive acting schools or were put into related extracurriculars as a kid and it's just disheartening as someone who once had dreams of being in the film industry to see that it's really just connections that gets you far. not to invalidate their talent but how much of their talent was unlocked because of their wealth and connections you know? I find a lot of broadway actors to be so pretentious in that sense because so many of them pat themselves on the back for doing "real acting" (i.e. live performances) and having the ability to make it into such a hard organization which is like true I guess but then you search some of them up and their parents were professionals in theatre or they grew up in nyc and constantly went to see broadway shows or went to private arts schools or something 😭😭 oh to be a rich theatre kid unaware of my privilege

dude i hate it so muchhhh 😭😭 i know it’s just the way of the world but fuck it honestly. england is soooo bad for it. almost all of our successful actors went to the same 2 or 3 schools and they all vaguely know each other/came from wealth. it’s almost impossible to break into the serious acting scene if you’re from a lower class or northern background :/ i know it’s basically the same across the pond when it comes to needing money to even get a shot at a shot. also for just one moment i AM here to invalidate their talent LMFAO 🧍‍♂️ they r nowhere near as brilliant as the world tells them they are. and even when they are truly good it’s because their artistic streak has been nurtured and adhered to since the moment they were born. like ofc ur going to be at least ok but does that warrant winning an oscar or getting a lead role just cuz ur dad knows someone who knows someone.........no <3 and yet!! i just know there’s thousands of stunning actors out there who r not gonna see the light of day cuz of this shit. thats y i appreciate the movie ‘the florida project’ - totally gorgeous and real performances from ppl who had not even worked in the industry prior. but yeah it really is all about being born in the right position above absolutely all else. they’ve totally monopolized mainstream success in the arts. jfkdkkfdlz honestly the combination of being rich AND a theatre kid is so lethal it’s like the final boss in a game. but instead of killing you during the confrontation they’d sing something from idk sister act and then start crying about how 🥺🥺 their parents didn’t buy them their hard work and talent and how difficult its been making it big 🥺🥺 oh to be huh

Here’s the thing, Anon: as someone who began Persona 5 feeling a deep, debilitating rage every time Akechi showed his stupid fucking face onscreen, to possibly maybe shedding a tear or two for him by the end, I’m not going to try and convince you to like him. Partly because it’s a silly endeavour, but partly because I understand that he just isn’t an easy guy to like. And I say this fully recognising that, just before, I called him extremely likeable. I hold the same to be true for Nagito, as well. It’s one thing to tolerate a character’s flaws when you understand their deepest and most sympathetic motivations; it’d be another if you met them in real life and were blindly subjected to the worst of that their personality has to offer.

That said, I’d argue Nagito is just as remorseless and ruthless as Akechi is. In his mind, so long as an action is committed to further a great hope, it is justified. I suspect their differences are less a matter of contrition, and more a matter of time. I found Nagito easier to sympathise with at first, because it’s easier to see his humanity than it is to see Akechi’s. Despite his habit of pushing people away, Nagito remains so desperate to be recognised, he seemingly can’t help letting his cheerful, apathetic veneer slip here and there, giving glimpses of his true motivations from the beginning. It also helps that, as Hajime, we - the player - notice it early on. Hajime observes pretty quickly that Nagito has probably been through a lot, and that he seems kind and understanding if a little strange. On the other hand, due to the nature of the game, Joker’s initial opinions of Akechi are entirely up to the player. You won’t see much of his true personality early on unless you’re really looking for it. This, for the longest time, he’s nothing more than a vaguely antagonistic presence with who knows what motives.

Furthermore, Nagito’s betrayal of the group comes much sooner which, I’d also argue, helps ground his character. It gives us time to explore those motives, the implications, and how he might still fit in a group dynamic. Whereas, by Akechi’s about-face, we’re pretty late in the game and he still isn’t wholly part of the group, having distinguished himself from the PTs by demanding that they disband in exchange for his help.

In all, while Nagito is willing and eager to make his true self known, Akechi hides himself until the very end, making it harder to understand and explore his character. Even in the third semester, with his demise imminent, he’d rather keep the other characters at arm’s length than live his final month or so in good company. He really is that ruined for other people. With time and patience, he could become as open as Nagito is, but the game simply doesn’t have that time to give at this point. And that, I suspect, is the cause for the trouble you have with his character and not Nagito’s. Akechi isn’t allowed to be a person for very long. Anger, hostility and fear trickle through as unadulterated sadism, because we aren’t privy to his whole side of things as thoroughly as we could be.

With regard to the Shido thing, I kind of read that as a rare moment of his emotions getting the better of him. He’d always wanted to get back at his father for abandoning him and his mother. Make him pay for the hellscape of a life he trapped them in. Much like Joker, he’s met with a perceived injustice, and he wants to right it via his own means. Of course, whether what he’s doing is “right” is up for debate, but I digress. To find out that Shido knew who he was all along and was still, after all this time, willing to discard his own son must’ve hurt. To realise he never stood a chance, for his life’s work to suddenly become nothing. You know, the whole “My expectations were low, but HOLY FUCK” thing? The game puts a heavy emphasis on Rotten Adults failing kids, but with his charm and sophistication, it can be easy to forget that Akechi is one of those failed kids too. I think he reacted like a child because, deep down, he is: a child fueled by a childish anger, and that’s why the game doesn’t condemn him the way it does Shido himself. There’s this implicit hopefulness that, through atonement and support, Akechi could change himself. Become a better person. But, because of his terrible, horrible, bad, bad father, he’s once again robbed of a chance of a better life, and it’s all he can do to make sure he doesn’t drag others down further than he has with his bad choices.

Yeah, I’m not too fond of the Sacrifice As Redemption trope, either. I would have preferred a proper character arc. But, I do think it demonstrates an ability to be selfless and contrite, if not a willingness. Stripped of his dreams and left with nothing, he really could have done anything in that moment. And he did That.

Of course, it’s possible that my interpretation of Akechi is a little charitable, do bear that in mind. I have a weakness for these types of characters, and my perception may well be biased. Due to my experience with other complex characters (like Nagito), I kind of just want to see the best brought out in him. (What can I say? I grew up shows like Avatar, complicated characterisation and quality redemption arcs Do It for me.) That said, it’s not at all invalid to find Akechi’s arrogance, selfishness and disregard for others offputting, with or without a reason for him to be such. The way he exists in his story vis-à-vis the whole foil thing I discussed in my last post is similar to Nagito’s role, and they share a lot of characteristics that are fun to discuss. But they are, ultimately, different characters. It’s okay to feel wildly different about them.

I was skeptical about Cleriths lying/omitting information to convince people that Clerith is in the bag, but as soon as one of them said that Cloud doesn't give Tifa the flower unprompted, I had to leave. Chief, no matter what, the flower always goes to Tifa. I'm not a shipper on main, but why can't both ships be canon? If Cleriths can claim that a first love doesn't have to be the last love, why can't the same be applied to Cloti? And then taking every question Tifa has about Aerith as a 1/?

sign that she's jealous is a weak argument at best. Cloud himself doesn't seem like the type to make friends easily, and adding to the fact that AVALANCHE are a wanted group, dragging a rabdom woman into the mix is, well, random. She had every right to ask him about Aerith. Plus, wanting to save Aerith because he's in love with her is kinda weak too because imo that's the bare minimum for Cloud. I mean, Jessie tripped at the Mako Reactor and instead of ditching her, Cloud helps her. Is it 2/?

And then the argument that Cloud and Tifa can't be a family because Barret is in the picture doesn't make sense either because a family doesn't have to be nuclear. And saying that there's tense air between Cloud and Tifa is a sign that they aren't in love is a trash argument too. Not all couples agree on every single thing. Arguments aren't a sign of a broken 3/?

She's bubbly, sassy, and fun and she jokes around a lot and she's optimistic and she wants to make Cloud happy, but that doesn't mean that she should only exist to make him happy. She deserves better than that. Tifa deserves better than being the Jealous Girlfriend trope. She's a worry-wart and she's shy. She knows that voicing her jealousy will just lead to more problems so she keeps that to herself. None of 4/?

Sorry for the wait on replying to this. I’m usually on my phone but it hates multiple part messages.

I’m of the opinion that both ships are canon to different degrees. That’s where I part ways with the other side. They want to say theirs is superior while erasing Tifa completely. Cloud and Aerith never even got together, whereas we’ve had multiple confirmations of Cloud and Tifa as an actual couple. The fact they refuse to accept that as a fact -- from official sources -- is their problem.

Tifa’s incredibly kind and selfless. Her whole reason for being in Corneo’s place is to find out if her friends are in danger from him. Ofc she’d worry about Aerith -- a girl she’s just met and doesn’t know if she can handle a fight. One of her important phrases refers to a total stranger -- the Shinra middle manager -- and sums up her character completely. “I don’t want anyone to get hurt.” If some people can’t understand that means she’s actually gives a shit, again, their fucking problem.

We shouldn’t have to justify Tifa’s character because they choose not to see her as anything but an obstacle to their precious ship. Knowing them, they’d probably argue that saying Cloud has mental health issues is a load of bullshit too. Remind me, anyone, what’s PTSD again? What’s depression?

I guess to them family units don’t include any extended family. I’ve got non-blood “relatives” because I love them. Barret is family to Cloud and Tifa because they love him. He’s their friend. And Barret clearly loves them too because he leaves Marlene with them. Not just Tifa. Barret leaves Marlene with Cloud. He trusts him to raise the most precious person in the world to him. That’s love.

I don’t get why all these “fans” claim to love Cloud, but want to take away all the people in his life who love him, just so the only person he has is a dead girl. It’s toxic af. They’ve isolated him. The guy who desperately wants to be accepted and loved. How cruel.

I’m never gonna be Aerith’s no1 fan, but I appreciate her role in the game and what she brings to the group dynamic and that Cloud has feelings for her. I’m always gonna be Tifa’s fan because I love the complexity of her character and that Tifa does her best and earns her happy ending, and I like happy endings.

when and what made you decide to make a litg blog?

well i’ve had a choices blog for months, and it originally started as a choices/litg blog, but choices updates year round, so i strayed away from litg. and after a lot of choices books went on hiatus/new updating books weren’t really my favorite, i made a litg sideblog solely so that i could shitpost my replay of s2 and also create a space that i could freely post ab s3 without annoying people who followed me for only choices content! plus i want to write more fics and there’s a great community of writers in the litg fandom so :)

opinion on s3 art design?

i like it personally. i think with the way fb releases their games (not year round, just annually for a couple of months), we’re always going to see the art and character design evolve over time. people can be as shallow as they want ab it, but im going to give the characters the benefit of the doubt bc i know they could make ugly characters that i could fall in love with because of their personalities

Top 7 comfort movies

I’m roughly 12 years late to the party but I was tagged by @ajoblotofjunk and @ilikeblue ! Thanks so much!

So confession up front - when looking for comfort stuff I actually tend towards TV! So here’s a mix of comfort media XD Also, like, in which I ramble only semi-coherently about things I love. 😅

1. Singin’ in the Rain

I... have no deep reasons for loving this. I just - I love Cosmo Brown. I love tap dancing. I love the earnestness of this whole flick and the OT3-ness that is just, like, everywhere in this damn movie. The songs are catchy, the dancing is impressive as all get out, it’s a lot of fun. The dorky scenes about enunciation - even if I could do without the sexist overtones to Lena’s storyline. I used to work in TV, so the stuff about where to put the mics was RELATABLE (if... not exactly the same ofc). The cast is attractive. There is 1 space mom (Debbie Reynolds) and 1 space aunt (Cyd Charisse) in it, which tickles me xD

Let’s see, I’ve given random headcanons on Singin’ before, but let’s go with this one. When watching it the first time in my twenties and “Make ‘em Laugh” came on, my pal said with such deep earnest and pained joy, “Cosmo is doing all this just to make Don laugh,” and I think about that every time I watch that sequence.

THE LOVE. it’s eVERYWHERE.

2. Parks and Recreation

Look, I can totally see how Parks & Rec isn’t for everyone. But to me, it’s a half-hour long televisual hug of people doing their best to love each other and make the world better, with helpings of political commentary and utterly absurd comedy. It definitely doesn’t come without caveats and is already dated in some ways, but in a weird way, I appreciate that Schur & Goor have grown in their politics that missteps taken in P&R aren’t repeated in and are often actually rectified in B99 & The Good Place. I deeply, deeply love the relationship between Ben and Leslie, and how hard Leslie loves: people, Pawnee, politics, public service. The families-of-choice vibes are strong in this one and there are few things I am more of a suck for than families-of-choice. I could ramble endlessly on this one, so I’ll cut myself off there.

Anyhoops, I have very many feelings about P&R and if you’ve been wondering whether to watch it but holding back for whatever reason, please DEFINITELY message me and I will share with you my many thoughts on why you should watch, where there might be squicks, and why you should actually start with season 2, episode 21 (yes, even the completionists amongst you).

3. Jurassic Park

... I love dinosaurs, and I love Dr Ellie Satler. She is amazing and if there was a gif of her with the triceratops I would have chosen that one. Between her general personality/competency, her unabashed feminism and her face, she remains the best 🥰Also I appreciate that Lex also got to save the day, in a way v specific to her skillset and that the film didn’t dismiss her despite being v scared and way outside her comfort zone in the outdoorsy survival parts of the film.

I also have fond memories of going to see it for my sixth birthday and going to the bathroom when the T-rex eats Gennaro, so not totally understanding why all my pals were terrified when I got back. Ofc I then had fears that a t-rex would stomp and crush our home, but *handwaves* I grew out of that fear. And grew a new one.

4. Avatar: the Last Airbender

Ho-hum. Where to start with Avatar. Lmao, in the context of Game of Thrones (to which it has been ofc compared lately) just having a long-form television show which delivers on the vast majority of its themes and premises is a relief and satisfying. But, I liked Avatar long before I was back in the GOT-verse so. It’s a compelling narrative, carefully constructed and mindful of the stories and values it’s putting out into the world. And those stories, values and themes aren’t light. It tackles war, genocide, familial abuse, revenge, and redemption alongside things like building family, accepting differences, forgiveness, and honesty. That said, it balances those things with children-being-children, and moments of grace and humour. Each character is well-drawn, their personalities and choices respected, and the idea that character-drives-plot is masterfully demonstrated. Hey look - we’ve got some families-of-choice vibes here too!

I think I’ve previously rambled in the tags of a post about Katara specifically. But as someone who has, ah, an appreciation for anger and an awareness that women + anger = bad, societally speaking, Katara was a breath of fresh air. She is as compassionate as she is angry, and while there are philosophical differences between characters when it comes to her acting on her anger, the anger itself is never questioned or denigrated, by other characters or by the narrative itself. Her anger is never used as a tool to invalidate her other characteristics, or the reverse (her compassion, her nurturing side, etc, are never used to invalidate her anger), and she means a lot to me.

Also idk what this is but it came up when I searched Avatar and if I have to see it and be slightly confused and embarrassed then so do you:

5. Pacific Rim

lmao I rambled so much about the past few I’m tempted to just say: I JUST LOVE IT OK. Which is true, but. A bit more. Pacific Rim is like two hours of hope. I think I have in my queue a post that describes the relationship between Mako and Raleigh as two hurt & hardened warriors who nonetheless find softness with each other, and that is 100% true. But that ignores how in many ways, the same is true for Stacker and Mako, and even Stacker and Raleigh to degrees. Stacker’s adoption of Mako is very important. A black man with an East London accent being the most vital person in the movement to save the world is important. The multi-national, scrappy and semi-guerilla response to a weird af global threat, and the related deep humanity in facing the end of the world and hoping against hope that there’s a chance, also deeply resonant.

It’s also stunning: Guillermo del Toro and his colour schemes, y’all. The fight scenes are so GOOD and INTERESTING and just so blatantly done by someone who knew exactly what they were doing and loved every minute of it. The idea of the drift and of drift compatibility is lovely: that philosophical belief in the interconnectedness of people. The (somewhat blink-and-you-miss-it) background class commentary (del Toro, icu) 👏.

And, ofc, as with many on this list: the centering of Mako, the dedication to playing out the full emotional arc, of her having complex emotions which are respected and acknowledged by other characters and the narrative... yes please thank you.

6. Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries

Women being competent and supported is deeply comforting. I’ve particularly found myself rewatching MFMM as the world is on fire. Just - watching Phryne build her family (families of choice!) and her community, get her men, and win the day through cleverness and determination is heartening.

7. The Holiday

I love Kate Winslet’s arc in this. But honestly I think much of my love for this centres on the fact that I saw it when v much longing to move to the UK and it is the most charming/romantic portrayal of Britain and that appealed to 20 y-o K who was so desperate to go. That said, the arc between Iris & Arthur (eg the gif below) makes me cry every time, so there’s that.

Teach Them How to Say Goodbye

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x OFC

Summary: Drabbles following Delicate Stages. Looking into the life of Bucky and Ana.

Warnings: Wow. There’s absolutely no bad language in this one. That’s the first. A little fluff. The beginning.

Words: 3,026

A/N: Hi. So. Here it is….the beginning of the end…game….(Do not read unless you’ve read Delicate Stages first)

The moment Ana and Bucky arrive at the palace, is the moment Ana is dragged away by one of the medical scientists. She knows she missed her vitals and energy level check up the other day, mainly due to nausea and the ever growing feeling of energy. Instead, she had snuggled against Bucky’s chest while he gently rubbed circles over her stomach, which lulled her to sleep.

Now, Ana keeps an eye on Bucky as he shoots an encouraging smile over his shoulder before he continues to the landing pad. Nervous trills of energy tingle throughout her veins, though Ana can’t decipher if it’s from the upcoming fight or being away from Bucky for more than two minutes. She chews her lip until her levels are recorded, nearly falling off the table in her hast to meet Bucky.

“Mrs. Barnes,” The Medical Scientist speaks up with concern, making her halt. “Your stress levels are climbing. This is not good for your body, especially in your current predicament. I would like to take an-“

“Later, please?” Ana begs, beginning to walk back. “I just need to be with my husband, is all. I feel fine, I promise.”

The usual kind man looks skeptical, but after a moment of hesitation, he nods. Ana smiles then quickly exits the lab. She barely catches the tail end of Bucky’s quip as he greets Steve with a hug. Steve, with a full-grown bread he didn’t have the last time they saw him. Ana catches the people standing just behind him and she picks up her pace, bypassing the two men and launching herself straight into Natasha’s open arms.

“Nat!” Ana cries, overjoyed with seeing her friend after a year.

“My favorite Barnes!” Natasha greets fondly, squeezing her tight.

She hears Bucky make an indigent noise behind her, before a pair of bigger arms wrap around them both.

“I guess I’m just ignored now? That’s cold, Ana.”

Ana pulls back enough to see Natasha roll her eyes, shoving Sam away from them. Ana turns to give him a proper hug, laughing into his shoulder.

“I could never ignore my favorite wing man,” She promises, tapping her fingers against his folded wings on his back before they break apart.

“It’s pretty easy, actually,” Bucky inputs, sounding much closer to her now. His tone is also fond, though he’d probably never admit that.

“He’s not giving you trouble right?” Sam questions sternly, though his eyes shine with mirth.

“No more than usual,” She winks.

Then she spots Wanda, her arm wrapped around Vision’s waist. Wanda gives her a tiny, exhausted smile as Ana makes her way over to them. She gives them each a hug, double checking if they are both alright, especially after her friend gives her the tightest, a little shaky, embrace. Bruce Banner gives her an awkward wave, making her roll her eyes and wrap her arms around him too. The energy she feels within him leaves her breathless, but she doesn’t ask about it, figuring she’ll know soon enough. Lieutenant Colonel Rhodes is next, shooting Ana a bright smile after a brief hug.

“Everyone doing alright?” She questions, worry settling in her heart. She can feel an underlying emotion of fear, dread. She eyes the advanced orthotic on Rhodes lower body.

He notices, tapping the side. “Tony made it specifically for me. Took some getting used to, but it makes me look badass.”

A bright laugh escapes Ana’s mouth, glad to see that despite his situation, the Colonel is in good spirits. Before the conversations can carry on, they are all being invited inside by T’Challa, him and the guards leading the way.

Ana can read Bucky’s energy before his fingers slip through hers. It feels, nervous. She attempts a reassuring smile towards him, then presses a quick peck to his left shoulder; vibrainum cool under her lips.

Natasha walks past them, pauses, turns and tilts her head. Her ever sharp green eyes scan Ana’s body. “Ana, are you…glowing?”

“It’s her thing now,” Bucky responds with a smirk.

She opens her mouth to answer, but a sharp surge of energy shoots up her spine. She presses her free hand to her chest, nearly doubling over before Bucky holds her firmly by the arms. She’s gasping, trying to control the strange chaos in her chest, reaching out to grip Bucky’s vest to steady herself. He instructs her to count her breaths quietly, pressing his forehead to hers so she can copy his own breathing.

“There you go, sweetheart,” He praises softly, hands rubbing up and down her arms. “Alright?”

Nodding, Ana straightens up, offering the best smile she can to her concerned husband. “Yeah, good. It’s just…stronger.”

Bucky frowns.

“Are you okay, Ana? What was that?” Natasha inquires carefully, curious wrinkle between her brows.

“I’m fine, promise.”

“Maybe you should stay-“ Bucky begins. He’s quickly cut off with a heat look from Ana. “Right. Let’s just go inside then.”

Natasha looks as if she wants to say more, but she moves pass them. Ana cups Bucky’s jaw, scratching his beard lightly before pressing her thumb to the corner of his mouth to raise his lip up. He chuckles, eyes soft as he wraps his fingers around her wrist.

“I just worry about you, Annie,” He breathes into her palm.

“I know. I worry about you too. I am worrying about you now,” She confesses. She brings his face closer to hers, pressing a light kiss to his mouth. “We should be inside. Important things to discuss.”

Bucky kisses the tip of her nose, lacing their fingers together. “Let’s go then.”

A plan of action has been set. Bruce had explained everything he knows and what he saw; a giant purple Titan with an alien army who thinks he is right. Bruce even tells them his hunch of where Thor might be. Shuri is doing something fancy with the Mind Stone embedded in Vision’s forehead, Wanda hovering close by, and Bruce looking on with interest. Steve is still chatting with T’Challa, some of the Dora Milaje including General Okoye and Ayo.

Ana had to step away, retreating to her work space within the lab, Bucky trailing right behind her. She fiddles with the rings on her fingers, barely containing the heavy atmosphere of emotions and nervous energy. It doesn’t add too well with the storm cloud that had been brewing for months with the apparent war for the fate of the Earth. She presses her hands over her stomach and her chest.

With every passing second, what she feels grows worse. Her veins singe like they’re burning, her heartrate is picking up. Before she can panic, a soft sense of comfort washes over her right as Bucky takes her hand. He tangles their fingers together, lifting hers to press a gentle kiss against the scars of her wrist.

Instantly, the tension eases from her shoulders. She watches as Bucky places a kiss to each of her knuckles, then he pulls her closer, softly pressing his lips over her eyebrow. Ana traces the lines of his left arm with the fingers he isn’t holding, grounding herself.

“Breathe, Annie Doll,” Bucky murmurs, lifting her chin with his metal fingers. His eyes are calm as he stares into hers; shifting like they do when he counts the gold speck. His irises the color of the unique rocks that surround the mineral spring; a cool grayish-blue. Almost as if his eyes sense the ominous clouds over them.

Nodding, she does as she’s told, inhaling and exhaling deeply. “Are you feeling alright?” She checks after a good two minutes.

Bucky narrows his eyes suspiciously. “I’m fine, darlin’. Don’t you dare think about changing anyone’s energy. Especially mine.”

He adds a good-natured poke to her nose just to make her scrunch it. She gently tugs his hair, a bit wavy now that it’s dried.

“Promise,” Ana smiles, pressing a fleeting kiss to his jaw.

“Do you just want to stay here until it’s time?” He questions somberly. Ana nods. “Here, sit down.”

“No, you sit,” Ana insists, guiding him over to one of the medical tables instead of her desk. “It’s more comfortable, and you’ll need the rest.”

“So do you,” Bucky grins, tugging her between his legs after he sits.

“I’m not an invalid, honey,” She teases.

“Not at all, just my best wife and best girl, who is-“

Ana gasps abruptly, a sense of chaotic energy pulling at her chest again. Bucky’s hands firmly hold her steady by her hips. The moment passes quickly. Twice within the spa of ten minutes.

“I’m okay,” She reassures once she sees the panic in his eyes.

“If you’re going to feel this the entire time, Ana,” Bucky begins reluctantly, “maybe you should stay in the apartment and-“

“No, absolutely not.”

“Annie-“

“James.” Ana snips, giving him a glare. Bucky’s mouths snaps shut, but the corners pull up just a tad. “You refuse to allow me to fight, even though you know I will be more protected than anyone with the rings. I won’t be on the battlefield, this is as close to you as I can get.”

“I just…I know you’re angry about it, but I can’t just let you go, not with this threat and with your-“

Ana cuts him off by sharply tugging his hair. He pouts.

“Worth a try?” He shrugs, offering her a sheepish grin. “Even with your stubbornness?”

“Whatever helps you sleep at night, Snowflake.”

Suddenly the teasing mood is gone as they continue to hold each other’s gazes. Ana carefully runs her fingers through Bucky’s soft hair, watches as his lashes flutter from her touch. He keeps his hands on her hips, fingers sneaking under her shirt to rub soothing circles over her navel and hipbones.

Neither of them knows how much time passes. A sense of urgency settles over the room, but they ignore it, or try to. Ana can feel the prickle of Bucky’s nerves beginning to break through; can practically hear his thoughts and worry. His fear, and she knows, it isn’t fear for himself. It’s fear of something reaching her in the Lab. All the surrounding voices fade into background noise as Ana inhales slowly.

She hugs Bucky close to her, his forehead pressed to her stomach, just between her ribs. His grip is tight, the only visible sign of anxiety coming from him. Internally, she feels different whirls of emotions with each passing second. Ana is almost sick to her stomach because she doesn’t have a good inkling about this. Between everyone in the room, the darkening threat, and Bucky trying to hold back but failing. She tightens her arm around his shoulders, the hand that was brushing his hair slips to the back of his head.

With a tiny defeated sigh Bucky releases, Ana finally gives in. She slowly morphs his energy around, hoping to at least find an ounce of courage and positivity in herself and convey it to her husband. The thing is, she is on the brink of her own anxiety attack because it just fully hit her.

Bucky is about to go off to fight another war. She knows how long he’s just wanted peace and happiness; after all the shit he has been through. He just wants to manage their little farm and play with the goats, Cat, the children, for the rest of his life, and now. Now it’s shattered. His peaceful, blissful life- their peaceful, blissful life- is shattered.

Bucky’s fingers dig into her hips as he shifts his head to peer up at her. His beautiful blue eyes narrow at her dubiously. She meets his glare, quirking an eyebrow. He straightens up, now level with her chest, snaking his hand from her hip up to her side, until his palm is resting directly over her heart.

“I told you not to do that, Annie,” Bucky murmurs, his breath causing goosebumps along her skin. “You shouldn’t be wasting your own energy.”

“Shhh, let me do this for you,” She whispers, moving her hands to cup his cheeks. “Please.”

He nods in submission, bringing his hands up to catch hers and thumbing over the rings. “Turns these on the second I leave.”

Ana goes to respond, but the same feeling she’s been getting shoots through her chest and up her spine again. It’s stronger this time. As if her body can feel them getting closer. Her stomach rolls, her body tenses, Bucky pulls her tighter to him.

“You can feel them.” Bucky states quietly.

Ana shuts her eyes, and nods.

“Buck,” Steve’s voice breaks their little bubble. “It’s time.”

They both glance over at him, a hint of guilt gleaming in Steve’s eyes. Bucky nods as Ana bites her lip. When they meet each other’s gazes once more, a split moment passes before Ana dips her head down the same time Bucky leans up. Their lips connect firmly, her fingers gripping the roots of his hair. It tastes like a goodbye and she loathes it. It feels final, and despite knowing how dangerous this fight is going to be, she refuses to see it as a farewell.

Abruptly, Bucky slides off the table, standing to his full height, never breaking their kiss. Ana just follows his lips, her hands dropping to hug around his shoulders. He presses his thumbs into the sides of her stomach as his hands pull her even closer. A soft, gentle tongue swipes across her bottom lip, opening her mouth slightly to taste him, before they break apart.

“Is this what going off to war feels like?” Ana mutters shakily against his lips. Her heart clenches.

She hears Bucky’s breath stutters in his chest. His hand comes up to cup her jaw. “This feels worse.” There’s a short pause. “Real?”

Ana huffs. “Yes. You are. Unfortunately, this situation is too.”

“I just feel you, Annie.”

The tenderness of Bucky’s voice makes tears sting in her eyes. She swallows the thickening lump forming in her throat. She squeezes his shoulders, hoping he can carry the weight of her fingers with him.

“Always feel you,” Ana murmurs back.

“Guys, I’m so sorry, but we gotta get moving,” A reluctant Steve urges.

“One more minute,” Bucky replies, keeping his eyes locked on Ana’s.

She sees them shift back and forth, and she know he’s counting the dots again. Ana moves her hands, holding his face between them.

“You be careful, Snowflake,” She commands lowly. “I mean, it. Run if you need to. I’m safe here, don’t get distracted,” She kisses him briefly. “You come back to me. Got it?”

“I swear to you,” Bucky tells her with such conviction, she has no doubt. “I love you.”

Ana blinks, her vision beginning to blur with tears. “I love you, Bucky.”

They share another tender kiss, then Bucky steps away from her; his eyes look like it pains him to do so. His fingers trail down her jaw, her neck, over her pounding heart, down her stomach and hip. He takes her hand, squeezes three times, and then he’s turning, walking towards the landing dock.

Ana turns her back, not being able to watch him go; because she can’t. She’s ready to help Shuri with Vision in any way she can, but Steve is standing in her way. She opens her mouth to say something, but the gentle yet amused look in his eye halts her. She frowns, until he nods his head up.

Before she can fully turn, strong arms wrap around her, and a searing kiss is pressed firmly against her mouth. Bucky dips her back, fully supporting her weight in his strong arms. Ana can’t help but smile at his dramatics, though it makes her heart flutter and her stomach curl with heat. She grips his shoulders, fingers digging into flesh and metal and cloth.

“You’re ridiculous,” She chuckles against his mouth.

Bucky hums, slowly straightening them again. “For you, doll face. Always for you.”

Then he’s leaving again, but he’s throwing a wink over his shoulder. Ana smiles brightly until he turns his face forward, then her smile drops, as does her heart. She really doesn’t have a good feeling, and with each passing minute, the energy surrounding them grows worse.

She feels a firm, comforting hand squeezing her shoulder. It’s a brief gesture, a silent goodbye as Steve moves to walk past her. Suddenly, she jerks her hand out, grabbing his hand and halting his steps. Her eyes are still on Bucky’s retreating back.

“Steve,” Ana whispers, trying to tamper the quiver in her voice. Her eyes slide over to his stoic face. “Bring my husband back to me.”

Steve faces her, gripping her hand tight. “I swear to you, I will.”

Then he pulls her into a hug, and she hasn’t had someone who has felt like a brother in so long, but Steve has become just that. Her brother. And it’s not just her husband that’s walking off to fight against these aliens, to save the world. It’s her entire family.

It’s Steve who had became her rock for ten, long lonely and heartbreaking months. It’s Sam and Natasha. It’s Bruce who she hasn’t seen in nearly two years. It’s T’Challa and Okoye and M’Baku, people who have accepted her and Bucky into their humble home. It’s Wanda, who was forced to grow up so fast, and is now still fighting to protect the one she loves.

It’s Vision willingness to sacrifice himself if the time comes. It’s Shuri who is doing everything in her power to help him. It’s Tony, who she hasn’t heard from, but she knows. Part of the feeling she has, is because he’s out there putting his life on the line.

They all are.

“Stay safe, Steve,” Ana tells him against the patch with the missing star on his suit.

“You too,” He responds lowly.

Steve releases her then, sharing one last look before he follows after Bucky.

Ana inhales deeply, pressing her hand to chest as if she can feel Bucky’s heartbeat within her. Then, she turns to assist Shuri, ignoring the prickling of energy warning her.

Q&A #85

Got a truly large embarrassment of riches in terms of number of reports. Thanks for all of them and I’m working on a hotfix now which is also going to including enough extra content that it probably counts as a mini-update in its own right.

Now for the questions that need a more specific answer than ‘thanks for letting me know, and I’ll get right on that’.

ultrastrangefoxcollection: Many moons ago, I was the guy who reported that slavers being brought up from slaver training weren't being counted properly, and the game was telling me that I have to keep a whole bunch of slavers in camp. That seems to be happening again, although the count on the toolbar for slaves/slavers is correct. At the moment, I've got 14 slavers (10 former slaves, 4 never trained) and 8 slaves, and it's making me keep 5 slavers at home.

Will take another look at this. If anyone ever sees the bottom status bar reflecting the incorrect numbers and you can see what caused it specifically then I’d definitely appreciate reports on that.

Anonymous: Has Biomancy been reworked recently? I distinctly recall being able to muck about with PC proportions from the get-go (provided you took the ability ofc). In the present version (v803) self-biomancy attempts return an invalid selection error - something about "you should be more intelligent and not do highly dangerous things in the wilderness." Not certain if this is intended. Perhaps I'm just blind and didn't read the more recent changelogs.

That’s never been a thing to my knowledge or at least it wasn’t intentionally. Don’t remember anyone mentioning being able to do that before so no idea how you were able to do that.

You can however get a slaver with biomancy to use it on you now as of the last couple of version, though if they don’t really respect you they might not have your best interests in mind.

To also answer a related question while I’m on the topic:

itsbbbooobbb-blog: is it actually impossible to do the hardest biomancies right now?

Self-biomancy has always been planned to be held back for a specific assignment chain that would also unlock the nearly impossible options.

Anonymous: Just wanted to say that the new submissive flavor text is faaantastic. Unrelated question: I've been allowing my slaves to escape on purpose so that I can send my slavers out to recapture them and break their will. Do slaves stop trying to escape once they get recaptured, or does submissiveness just make it less likely for them to try?

That’s awesome. If you’ve got any particularly favourite bits then I’d love to hear about them.

Ahah a catch and release programme. There’s a bunch of factors including other traits and level of bondage, but submissive does make them less likely to run, and obedient ones won’t ever try to leave.

Anonymous: Found a bug - crit successes on "Whores for the Whore Makers" will not sell the slave. You get the payout, xp, rep gain, etc, but the slave is not removed. Instead, RAGS prints "Slave" and a number - which I assume is the object's position in its storage array - on a new line. Also, as an aside, is there a maximum number of aspects a PC or NPC can have? Wondering if I made a bad call picking up a random aspect on levelup for a caster. Or if my PC can get aspects at all.

The max number for the PC and NPC was changed from 3 to 5 aspects in the last update.

itsbbbooobbb-blog: the quick as you like solo quest seems to ignore leaving plans for your slavers

as a side note, I remember a long time ago you mentioned the idea of making clumsy affect biomancy/corruption...did that get added?

That one is intentional. It’s mainly for reasons of gameplay flow and immersion, but I guess you can look at it as your slavers deciding that if you go on that race then all previous plans can be ignored as you’re hardly going to be able to complain when you get back.

On checking I did do that for corruption... and completely forgot about biomancy. Added that now for the hotfix and thanks for the reminder.

Anonymous: I'm sure you get lots of questions about races, but I've been wondering why we can't play as a lizardman yet? Particularly since we can already have one as a unique second-in-command. Is it just a lot easier to make them an npc instead of a playable character? Or do you have plans to make them playable at some point? Thanks for all your work by the way, I've played this game way more then I expected to.

Just haven't got round to it yet really. I think one time with the commission polls I had the choice for a Lizardman piece that would have also been used as a playable start though I’ve not including that choice recently. Saying that soon I want to have every race* to have a playable start to account for losing your encampment to your second-in-command.

(*Not including races with an alien mindset in Wisps and Legion, and races not predisposed to taking command like Driders and Zharr Dwarves.)

Seamstress and Smiths without a faith can make profane gear without needing to be depraved themselves.

It’s only a common relatively straightforward assignment. For (Exc) especially you’re looking at a rare one’s reward level and a much higher risk.

Anonymous: What exactly are the triggers for losing the Innocent trait?

Penetrative sex and any training above basic obedience if I remember right.

joyfullyunadulteratedruins: Did something change with the end of the day drinking check? I've gotten so many hungover slavers there's got to be something going on. And this is without Bond With Your Slavers enabled. I suppose I may just have so many supplies and they're so happy they can't help themselves, but it's pretty annoying.

Are you playing on Hardcore? I did make those end of day activities to counteract morale loss more intense on that difficulty awhile back.
