i know! you have to be truly desperate to pay that much money for them. it’s less likely to sell them if you’re gonna raise the price that high and most fans who actually want to get tickets might go for cheaper ones that might be a scam anyway. it’s just a lose-lose situation all around 😔

oh i’m glad you liked him! ngl i don’t use twitter much but he’s hilarious on ig. i remember when as it was was still no. 1 on the billboard hot 100 or something and there were rumors that james bay’s song was gonna top it he started pushing for james’ song and that made me laugh so hard. if you want any more songs i could totally recommend more, you can even tell me which vibe you liked more from the ones i sent and i could tell you which others are kinda the same.

okay let’s gooo

mind of mine-zayn: i’m gonna be honest, back when it came out i didn’t love it because it wasn’t my music style at all (still isn’t) but i knew it was good. like music can be good even if it’s not my style you know? but i had a few tracks i really loved a lot (for example, it’s you, she, intermission:flower, truth) that i loved a lot. but i have been relistening to the album for the last year and i think it’s really growing on me. but i still dislike pillowtalk, haven’t heard it since it came out, and probably never will again sorry i do not like it

hs1-h: when it came out i listened to it like 1 time, some songs i couldn’t finish, and i honestly don’t remember what they sound like (meet me in the hallway, carolina, only angel, kiwi, ever since new york, woman), the rest (sign of the times, two ghosts, sweet creature, from the dining table) i was like okay, maybe they’ll grow on me, so i listened to them for a while, maybe a month or two, still, they did not grow on me. some of the lyrics are quite sexist imo and make me uncomfortable. then i didn’t listen to them at all, apart for sott since it was played on radios etc. i heard hs1 one last time (not completely, only partly) around july 2018 because i watched a livestream of his last show? but i got bored halfway so didn’t watch it all. it was his only live show i’ve seen videos off. i’ve never heard those two unreleased songs he used to sing live ever (medecine, anna)

flicker-niall: i would like to send a kiss to mr niall james horan i love this album so much!! okay not all songs, but the majority make me feel so warm and i love them!! shout out to this town, seeing blind, paper houses, since we’re alone, flicker, and on my own. i don’t really like on the loose and slow hands, but not because they’re bad, i just can’t relate to them oops. also the orchestra version? amazing, probably the best decision niall has ever done his entire life!!! in conclusion, i love it, what a great opening for his career, iconic, i knew niall would deliver, but, it deserved better.

icarus falls-zayn: thank you king for all this good food i love it. no but really, zayn was like here’s 30 songs enjoy! like wow awesome. ok i don’t love the collabs on it, tbh i don’t listen to them. i like the vibe of the album, the story, the visual videos, etc a lot. it’s a very different feel from mind of mind, very refreshing, i love it a lot. although it’s thirty!!! songs, it leaves me at the edge of my seat asking for more, i can’t wait for his third album. my faves are definitely: let me, natural, common, stand still, flight of the stars, there you are, i don’t mind, satisfaction, entertainer, good years. it has a feel of a 3am drive with a friend, but you’re both not talking and you’re both going nowhere. that sad summer nostalgia. love it, makes me wanna cry.

lp1-liam: i honestly liked liam’s ep, and his singles, a lot better than his album. but he didnt write too many songs on them, it’s a bit weird because i can’t really judge liam’s music from it, since i don’t think it’s completely him. remember and heart meet break are probably my two faves from it.

fine line-h: thank God i have not heard any of those songs, and i hope i never will. i’ve read lyrics of it. very sexist i hate it thanks and can he stop singing about fruit? i like eating fruit he’s ruining it for me

heartbreak weather-niall: okay tbh the teasers were so cute and i was very excited for this album, the whole story concept etc, the colours etc. still to this day idk if i prefer flicker or HW because they’re both really good!! i think in terms of music, you can see a clear evolution from flicker to HW, he improved a lot. but still i love flicker because the songs make me wanna cry. some songs i can’t relate to at all: small talk, arms of a stranger, new angel, etc because niall is horny (which is valid but i’m asexual). but surprisingly i’m addicted to small talk from his live performance... makes me wanna scream i love it. my faves are heartbreak weather, dear patience, everywhere, still. i think still is the best song niall has ever written ever he can’t possibly outshine it it’s too good.

walls-louis: ok i did them all in chronological order but left walls for the end because i just!!!! love it so much i will cry. there are only 2 artists for which i can not skip any songs at all and louis is one of them i’m not exaggerating. any other artists i like (even like, mika) have made some song-mistakes. louis no. never. never has and never will i know it in my heart. walls means so much to me but before i get into that can i just say i love the 4 pre walls songs???? they deserved better rest in peace 2017!lt1. ok so now walls. it is so personal, the lyrics are so so clever, the music is beautiful. my faves are kill my mind, don’t let it break your heart, two of us, we made it, too young, walls, habit, always you, fearless, perfect now, defenceless, only the brave, (and yes i am adding the japan bonus tracks because i am BITTER), just hold on, miss you. yes i did just list the whole album no i do not care you are not allowed to complain about that. this summer at work i was so bored i’d just sit in the sun and sing all of louis’ discography in my head on loop. and i’d listen to walls 1/2 on my way to work and 1/2 on my way back home. the album is so beautiful ceci sorry i am not making sense i am not eloquent at all but it means so much to me i can’t believe his album was delayed so long. i think because it was delayed, maybe the songs aren’t as coherent as in other albums. so let’s think about that for a second. if it’s a bit patchy and this good, what about lt2? it’s gonna be amazing so good he’s gonna kill it he’s just gonna get better and better and better i can’t wait to see it. i’m so thankful that we are allowed to experience louis as an artist, and louis growing as an artist over the years, because he will, and it’s gonna be so beautiful and i’m gonna cry a lot. my description did not do walls justice but know that i love it a lot okay

Louis wouldn't exactly call it a thing, his newfound fascination with the curly trail that starts below Harry's bellybutton and disappears into his skinny jeans. It's definitely not a thing. Autumn at My Window, by TheCellarDoor, 20.4k words (E). a lot of pining, Louis' addiction to Harry's scent, and a whole lot of sexual tension that might just snap loose when they decide to spend some time together all on their own. (this is one of those canon-compliant AUs where you’re meant to ignore A LOT, but it’s still a good lil story with a lot of pining)

Maybe I Miss You series, by 13ways, 26k words (E). Louis is on his way back to London after the Hits Live Birmingham concert. Harry is flying to New York for the Met Gala. They connect. (a newer series that does a good job of weaving in all kinds of real emotion for an ultimately happy ending)

Nothing You Can Do (But You Can Learn How to Be You in Time), by Teumessian, 28k words (E; needs ao3 account). Louis braids Harry’s hair. There are good times, bad times, fancy houses, supportive bandmates, secret boyfriends, small rebellions, bigger revolutions, some nail varnish, ribbons, cute clothing, and a Pinterest. (THE PINTEREST FIC!!!! and another admittedly canon-compliant semi-AU...but then again, most of them are, right?? idk, idk, i just know this one’s very visual and oh so soft)

(your heartbeat) rang true inside my bones, by flimsy, 32.9k words (E). Harry goes as Louis' date for a weekend wedding. He ends up taking the role a bit too seriously. (touch o angst, but it kind of is as it says)

Drifting, Weightless, by @dinosaursmate, 41k words (E). Harry and Louis are exes with benefits until they're not, and the Mediterranean Sea might just be the perfect place to work through some unresolved issues. (this is actually a really funny one, in addition to being emotional and hot, plus I for one would take a One Direction cruise when they get back together in 15 years, sob)

the dark and the dentist, by sunshiner, 66.2k words (E). An account of the events of November 2014. (there are actually a few really big monster fics/series that cover this particular time, but I occasionally skim this one because I like the flashes of random domesticity)

To the Ends of the Earth, by stylinsoncity, 68.4k words (E). During a yearlong hiatus, Louis visits Harry at his cabin in Idaho, where long-buried feelings ignite like the fire keeping them warm. (THE IDAHO CABIN FIC!! And if you haven’t read it in a while, check out the new epilogue from earlier this year...or buy the whole thing on Amazon! Another great one that’s emotional, angsty, soft, and hot, all in one snowball)

Untangle Me, by suicxne, 100k words (E). The one where Harry and Louis finally get it right. (this is another one where you have to ignore A LOT, but it’s like reading a beautiful movie, jesus, I’m still so weak for this fic!! One of the first ones I read in this fandom, and I still randomly think of it every now and again)

Is yoongi your fave in bts? I just today stumbled over a video of bts and watched and now 100 videos later i really think i kinda like them and especially Yoongi. He is such a sweetheart. so as a fellow 1d stan now into bts i wanted to know if louis was your fave and if yoongi is in bts? Cause i find it quite interesting to know^^'

ok so i have some esoteric ramblings that go far beyond the yes or no question you asked me here lmao... i guess im just feeling very “in this essay i will-” rn because of how much i truly adore both of them. also this basically turned into a personal diary entry but also simultaneously a cultural studies essay on how we make meaning in celebrities so like..... 🤷🏼‍♀️

@gettingaphdinmomo can u believe this anon let me merge 1d and bts? im indebted to them tbh

so yeah yoongi is my bias in bts and louis was always my fave in 1d! (well zayn too but z isn’t a member of 1d - tho i think he relates to some of the points im going to make here as well) and coincidentally i’ve actually been doing like... some self-psychoanalysis recently just reflecting on what my affection for louis and yoongi says about me, says about them, etc... just been thinkin’ ya know?

and i just feel like yoongi and louis are 2 sides of the same coin and it’s a coin that i distinctly Relate to and i’ll explain why. both yoongi and louis have very distinct caricature-type reputations on the surface. both vis-a-vis their role in their respective groups and in relation to the personalities that we see/they show us.

and what i mean by that is that louis is known as loud, brash, exuberant (formerly camp and flamboyant as well, though im not even gonna try to get Into A Discussion of That rn); to most people that do not take the time to go far beyond the surface, that’s kind of louis’ whole deal, right? (again this isn’t a discussion of public opinion of louis and doesn’t account for how his various stories/stunts/‘relationships’ would impact people’s view of him)... yoongi is sort of in the same boat but on the opposite end of the spectrum if that makes sense? he’s the tsundere member. he’s seen as cold, distant, has dry humor, doesn’t like to show affection, etc. that’s what the caricature of min yoongi is.

but everyone who is a fan of either of them knows that neither of those caricatures are wholly accurate and that the caricatures belie an emotional depth and intelligence that both of them very clearly possess.

we can never know even a fraction of public figures’ personalities, but to the small extent that we do get glimpses, yoongi and louis are both individuals who clearly care very deeply about others. they are attentive to the emotions of those around them and they are supportive and nurturing in their own ways. but at the same time neither of them are overtly touchy-feely about it if that makes sense? their empathy is exhibited subtly but it runs deep. their demonstrations of caring and compassion are nuanced behind layers of something else.

for louis, i think there’s always a bit of humor layered on top of his emotional displays (i.e. giving liam a hard time about being a ‘lad’). and i see myself in that. i use humor as a defense mechanism and couch everything serious in my life in a joke, for better or worse. again, im not saying that that’s what louis is or does in real life, i’ll never know nor would i presume to, but i am saying that i see something of myself reflected in Louis Tomlinson™ and among a million other reasons to love him i think that is one of the reasons i’ve always been drawn to him. he’s so compassionate and caring but you have to make sure you��re not distracted by his bright loudness to miss it. in addition to seeing myself reflected in louis, i also admire so much about him that i am not but aspire to be more like. i wish i could be more extroverted like him and i wish i could be a bright presence for the people around me like i know he is. so with louis i see myself and i see traits that inspire me to go outside my comfort zone and push my own boundaries.

for yoongi, the soft sweet infp that he is, i think his emotional displays are equally as subtle and layered behind a bit of stoicism and a bit of introversion and a bit of being very carefully selective about who he lets in. his displays of affection and caring are alway there but are not done to be viewed and given great attention (i.e. his hand holding). i don’t think yoongi much likes being the center of attention and would much rather have his members be that (lol @ jimin) but at the same time he has moments where his energy just bursts forth. these are moments where he’s clearly so comfortable with his surroundings and the people he’s with that he feels no need to be measured or restrained. again, this is all my interpretation of what i see and is thus filtered and distilled so many times that i’d never presume to state all of this as some factual evaluation of yoongi’s personality, but also again, i see myself in these observations and interpretations of yoongi. i find it very difficult to express my emotions (see the above point about couching everything in humor) but they are there and they are felt deeply and they show themselves in subtler ways. i find it difficult to display affection with even my closest friends and family but am also just a touch-starved bitch looking to hold someone’s hand like yoongi is always doing. i too sometimes begin to feel comfortable enough with those around me that my passion and excitement just bursts forth all at once, but only sometimes, otherwise im hyper conscious of myself and tend to self-police if i have not reached such a comfort level. i see a lot of that in Min Yoongi™. but like with louis i also see a lot in yoongi that i strive to be more like. i struggle with the weight of my own expectations for myself and i internalize A Lot, as yoongi seems to, but yoongi also demonstrates such a clarity of self when it comes to these things. i think he Knows himself quite well, which is something i’d like to be better at. i think his self awareness (something i think namjoon also has in spades) and his work ethic are admirable and inspire me greatly. he just seems so Lucid Perceptive and Insightful about his situation, and that encourages me to be more honest with myself about my own situation.

and like maybe this is all just a diatribe that could be applied by anyone to their fave celeb? there’s levels to abstraction to every celebrity and there’s always interpolation/projection our own traits, neuroses, insecurities, desires, etc. onto how we view our favorite celebs... but idk there seems to be something slightly different with celebs like yoongi and louis (and zayn and namjoon actually now that i think about it).

like let’s contrast it with other 1d and bts members: jin and hobi have carefully constructed the way they want to be seen and they don’t let people see much beyond that (and they’re So Valid for that). i actually think niall is quite a lot like this as well. the caricature is the whole picture that we get if that makes sense (though of course not even a fraction of the whole person which we are not nor should we be privy to) but its still a human picture, its still rooted in a sense and a feeling of authenticity; it just has its boundaries and is clear about those boundaries. thus the consumer public gets a discrete, self-contained persona whose likeability isn’t necessarily dependent on the consumer’s ability to relate or see themselves in the persona but rather is simply likeable!

then you have liam and jungkook who i see as quite similar in some ways for some reason (which im sure is gonna get me yelled at lmao). i dont mean that i think they’re similar people just that i think both of them are quite earnest and what you see is what you get with them. i don’t think either of them have it in them to pull a jin/hobi/harry (see below) and construct/be viligent about the boundaries of their persona. i think tae and jimin are mostly like this as well. they’re all just kind of unapologetically themselves (liam particularly after 1d ended, tho i know that, ironically, many feel he’s a bit of a poser nowadays)? i see these types of figures as similar to the type above just with less stable boundaries/less concern for those boundaries.

then you have harry whose caricature is constructed to be larger than life, to be almost non-human in its Celeb-ification. Harry Styles™ is not meant to allow for reflection of yourself in it. the consumer is not supposed to find parts of themselves relating to Harry Styles™, that defeats the purposes of the larger than lifeness of Harry Styles™. (i know this sounds bad and don’t get me wrong i do hate harry lol but i also don’t think this is an inherently Bad way to be a celebrity. it’s the david bowie, lady gaga [pre-joanne] school of celebrity and its fine, i just think it should be recognized for what it is and i think its very different from how bts and the other members of 1d operate [though i recognize that some people would view zayn in this light]).

personally i think yoongi and louis (and zayn and namjoon, to account for everyone in this analysis here) don’t fit into the above categories. clearly i dont think any of these four are in the Harry Styles™-type camp (duh). but i also don’t think they fit into the authentic-but-carefully-boundaried jin/hobi/niall camp nor the what-you-see-is-what-you-get liam/maknae line camp. i think these 4 occupy a limbo space between the two ‘categories.’

anyways, the long and the short of it is that we all make our own meaning in celebrities. for me, i find myself drawn to yoongi and louis because i see traits of my own reflected back at the same time and in the same person that i see aspirational traits. im inspired and im comforted by this duality that yoongi and louis provide for me. i love all the members of 1d and bts (except harry lolz) but yoongi and louis (and zayn and namjoon, who i’d say is my 2nd bias in bts if that wasn’t already clear) hold special places in my heart because of how they occupy my sort of nebulous fourth category of celebhood.

4. What’s your current NOTP? Idk, if I don’t like something I don’t think about.

6. How do you feel about love triangles? I do not like them unless they are a poly triad, okay. Why suffer the angst of a love triangle when everyone can be in love and having sex.

8. Have you ever shipped yourself with a character? No, not really.

9. Do you have ships that never got together at all? Okay, veering away from RPF, I guess. Wayyyy back in the day, I shipped Kristina and Ethan on General Hospital even though I knew the writers wouldn’t let it happen.

11. Talk about your favorite first kiss. I have always had a THING for the gay soap opera couples. Luke and Noah on As the World Turns, Kyle and Oliver (FAVES) on One Life to Live, Will and Sonny on Days of Our Lives and a few others that never stuck. I think Luke and Noah’s first kiss is still my favorite. 12. Have you ever been disappointed when your ship finally got together? Before I saw the Joey/Pacey light with Dawson’s Creek, I rooted hard for Dawson/Joey during the first season and I HATED them in season 2. 13. Has a ship ever broken your heart? DENNY/IZZIE ON GREY’S ANATOMY. Whyyyyy Shonda, whyyyy???

14. How do you feel about will they/won’t they? It’s so fucking boring. I don’t watch much tv these days cause honestly, fic has always done better by me and the will they/won’t they is tedious as fuck. 15. Have you ever “shipped at first sight”? Yep, Fred and George Weasley.

16. Talk about a ship you initially disliked. In bandom, back in the day, I disliked Brendon/Ryan (the MAIN Panic ship), only because I didn’t get it. And then I got it.

17. Talk about a pairing you’ve stopped shipping romantically. I used to ship Jensen/Jared pretty steadily but they’re both head over heels in love with their wives and have beautiful families so I lost interest. The fic is still good though.

18. Talk about a moment which made you question an entire ship. All of Supernatural fandom.

19. Have you ever shipped something despite yourself? I don’t really understand the question. I don’t waste time feeling guilty/badly over liking something. And once you’ve written underage porn about real life brothers, you just stop thinking too hard about the shit you’re into.

20. Talk about a ship you feel alone in shipping. Niam, man. 2013 Take Me Home tour was PRIME Niam and boy was that a lonely time.

21. Is there a ship you just don’t get, but have nothing against? Thankfully, I peaced out of Supernatural and SPN fandom before Dean/Castiel took over because I think I could have grown to hate the pairing but I don’t, I just don’t get it.

22. Which of your ships have the best chemistry? Logan/Veronica on Veronica Mars.

23. Which of your ships deserve better writing? Danny/Steve on Hawaii Five-0. In a better world, Steve and Danny would give into the seven years of flirting they’ve done, move in together and get married. But because this is a trash world, we can’t have nice things.

24. Do you mostly ship canon pairings? NOPE.

25. Have you ever shipped a pairing before you even started watching the show/movie simply because of gifs and graphics or similar? CASHTON.

26. Have you noticed a pattern in your shipping? Is there a romantic dynamic you’re more drawn to? Yes, I’ve always been super into pairings that don’t make sense on paper, really into the “opposites attract” trope.

27. Is there a ship you’ve shipped for most of your life? Yes, actually. Before I knew that it was shipping, sixteen year old me LOVED Backstreet Boys Nick/Kevin. Turns out, 20 years later, I still do. Kevin posted a picture to Instagram a few weeks ago of his family and Nick’s family on a boat together, just them. I was happy. 28. Does shipping come easily to you? Yes

29. Do you need to ship something to really enjoy a movie/book/tv show/comic? I’ve never really thought about it but no, I don’t think so. Psych is my favorite tv show and it’s not at all about shipping for me.

30. Name a couple of fandoms in which you have no ships. Psych is the only one that comes to mind.

31. Talk about one of your favorite headcanons for a ship you love. Currently, I’m entertaining a tinhatty headcanon that Calum and Ashton are livining out an actual friends-to-lovers 200k epic and are on their way to realizing they’re in love.

1. dizzy - waterparks & gloom boys - waterparks // not only do these songs just sound hella fucking good and listening to them makes me go hard as hECK, i just really love the lyrics? to both of them! i’m so amazingly happy that this band is relevant in my life and that i got to see them live which is what made me fall in love even more

2. she had the world - panic! at the disco // i get so happy singing along to this even though i’m borderline tone deaf...... this song makes me feel so calm and content and i think the lyrics are very cute and clever

3. if i believe you - the 1975 // ok so putting into words how amazing i think this song is will be very hard, but i think it’s lyrically genius and also extremely beautiful and i’m not sure why but it means a lot to me and it’s just a quality song my pals

4. 12 feet deep - the front bottoms // you know those songs that when you listen to them you just wanna be in the car, you and your friends are driving around aimlessly at night, and you just wanna play the song and you’re all singing your hearts out and you feel so happy and content and it’s as though in that moment every problem in your life is irrelevant because this song is playing and you’re all having such a good time? that’s this song

5. missing you - all time low // so atl has been my favorite band since i was 15 idk why i just love all the members and i always have a good time listening to their music like i don’t think there’s one song by them that i really don’t like. but this song means so god damn much to me. i love the lyrics and what it’s talking about. i like to listen to it when im feeling very low and sometimes i’m trying to sing along but i’m sobbing so it sounds awful, but the song normally makes me feel less alone with what i feel and i guess it feels personal? idk it just means a lot to me and i remember hearing it for the first time and how instantly i fell in love. i’m pretty sure atl will always have a special place in my heart

6. seeing blind - niall horan // this song is very cute and i love the whole vibe and tone of it and and it might just be my favorite song on niall’s album and also its cheesy and i think about my gf whenever i listen to it and i just ... ugh i love this whole entire album so got damn much tbh

7. hayloft - mother mother & oblivion - grimes // my gf showed me these songs and i rly rly like it bc 1. i think they sound super cool and 2. i cant help but to think of vas every time i hear them and i love listening to the music she likes bc i feel more connected to her somehow? i think the music a person likes tells u a lot about them and ya im gay

8. your graduation - modern baseball // i would hear about modern baseball everywhere and so one day i decided to listen to them and i started with the most popular on spotify and this song was #1 and when i heard it i fell in love? and i enjoyed the others but this one just stuck out to me (probs why it’s #1 lmao) but then i got out of a relationship and and this was a go to song to listen to if i wanted to get into my feels and even though it had that negative connotation to it, it really doesnt give me that vibe anymore and i still rly love the song

9. every song by blackpink // they only have 5 rn but uhhh blackpink is the reason i got into kpop bc before my brother showed me them i had this annoying grudge against the genre and maybe it was because of the songs he would play? or maybe the stigma idk bc i still am not a fan of the songs he likes the most.... but blackpink is the one and only kpop group that i pay attention to and that i would consider myself a fan of? like i definitely enjoy other songs by other groups and solo artists but i don’t think i “stan” them like i do blackpink. i love those ladies a whole lot!!!!

10. i wanted to put a one direction song on this list but it’s very hard to figure out which one is my current favorite bc every time i think i’ve decided on one i’m like wait..... what about that one? and then i thought i’d put my favorite from each album but i can’t even do that so just one direction in general but that probably came as no surprise heh

i definitely struggled to not put “this song has me feelin some type of way” for every single song and/or artist i’ve listed above kassfklasjfdsf but it’s the truth and that’s why these are my current favorites bc of the way they make me feel. i really love music and how much emotion it can show and how much it can make you think and feel (also i definitely cheated bc there’s way more than 10 things so oops)
