LEAK WARNING ABOUT FURINA POTENTIAL STUFF
Final Leak Warning: This is story shit so if you don't want to know then click off pls
I HOPE FURINA IS NO LONGER THE ARCHON. Not because I want that to be the story bit they go with, though it could be interesting. Also not because I don't like her, in fact it's literally the opposite. I've had a bit going where I don't pull for archons because I am a Khaenri'ah apologist and to pull for a straight-up archon would be betraying that. I am so committed to this goofy bit that I did not pull for Nahida despite using Cyno literally all the time and Nahida being one of his two best teammates. The issue is...I REALLY LIKE FURINA! I REALLY DO! SHE IS THE FUCKING WORST AND A CLOWN AND I LOVE HER SO MUCH! THERE IS SOMETHING ABOUT A COCKY LITTLE SHIT WHO IS KINDA AWFUL THAT ENDEARS ME, ESPECIALLY IF I THINK THEY ARE ALSO CLEARLY INSECURE AND ARE FAILING CONSTANTLY AND ALSO HAVE A REALLY COOL DESIGN! And her kit looks good too. So while half the people who have seen the leaks are mourning for their fave losing her status as a god because they like her (I get it) and the other happy that Furina lost her godhood because they don't like her (I also get it), I am over here hoping that she loses her status as a god because I like her but even more than I like her I love this stupid bit I have going.

In the centuries since losing Rostam, shedding her humanity, and being turned on by the nation she once tried to protect, La Signora had given up any hope that happiness be had for her in the old world. No, any happiness for the Fair Lady would only come from helping the Tsaritsa realize her goal of bringing down the tyrannical gods of Celestia.
And then she met you.
A sweet and charming immortal being—a cursed Khaenri'ahn perhaps?—whom she had met during a diplomatic venture had somehow managed to snake her way into the heart she had long frozen. A pretty little thing, one who she just wanted to scoop up and bring back with her to Snezhnaya.
And that's exactly what she did!
In the 500 years since the Cataclysm, Teyvat had only become more dangerous, especially for someone as delicate as you. She had already lost one love of her life, she was not going to let any harm befall your precious head. That's what she had told you after shackling you in ice and taking you to the land of Cryo. Somehow, on the way, you had gotten free from your restraints. Puzzling, since you were literally by her side throughout the entirety of the trip. But no matter; you soon arrived with her at Zapolyarny Palace and were immediately sequestered into her quarters. You complained about being bored, but a bit of dullness was a rather small price to pay for your safety, wasn't it? Before she left to handle some affairs, she placed some Fatui agents outside your door to stand guard and gave them some "incentive" in the forms of ice shards to make sure they didn't let you out. But when she returned, she found the guards knocked out cold, the door to her quarters open, and you, nowhere to be seen. The seal her Cryo delusion had on her Pyro abilities was dangerously close to breaking until she heard your cheery voice right behind her. "Oh Signora, you're back!" You ran up to her, completely ignoring her look of bewilderment, and practically tackled her in a hug, going on about how you left the room to venture out and had to knock out the Fatui agents when they were being "difficult". Clearly Signora needed to make some adjustments, starting with replacing the incompetent guards. Now she had Electrohammer agents posted and even had chains placed on the doors for good measure. And yet, she would later return to see broken pieces of chain on the floor alongside battered Electrohammer agents, their hammers nothing more than shards of Electro crackling on the carpet.
That's it. Time for more "abnormal" measures.
Signora didn't like this. She detested it, hearing your pleas to be let out of your shared room as she not only locked you in there, but placed a rifthound outside to stand guard. She made sure to use the Geo variety, the rockfond rifthound, for resilence against any and all who would approach. As someone who had burned these Abyssal creatures to cinders when they invaded Mondstadt, Signora loathed having anything to do with them now. But for you, her precious jewel, it was worth lowering herself in such a manner to make sure you stayed safe. So confident was she in her latest attempt to make damn sure you stayed put, she ventured to the land of Anemo full of vigor. After returning to Snezhnaya with the Anemo Gnosis in her grasp, she contentedly made her way back to her quarters where you would be waiting ever so patiently for her. She was so eager to share the news of her victory that she didn't register the fact that the chains were no longer on her door when she opened it and the rifthound was nowhere in sight. But she certainly noticed you, her precious darling. Her sweet, adorable, frustratingly defiant darling. You were sitting on the couch reading a book, one of your favorite Inazuman mystery novels. And curled up behind you was that very same rifthound she had placed to guard the door. "Wha..." Signora could barely utter a word at this bizarre scene and did a double take between the door and at the couch where you were scratching the rifthound behind its jagged ear. When you noticed her, you were nothing but bright smiles. "Rosalyne, welcome back! Julius has been keeping me company!" "...Who in the Tsaritsa's name is 'Julius'?" "Him, of course!" You gestured to your newfound pet. "He's a bit of a handful, so come help me with him!"

I wanna throw in a quick Au idea here. I’m losing my mind as we speak. 4.2 didn’t need to break my body and soul, but it did.
(Kind of) spoilers for 4.2 ahead.
To start off, I make MANY AUs. I make them when theories I like get disproven, I make them for headcanons I like, I make them for the fun of it, etc.
Don’t get me wrong, I am absolutely in love in what the archon quest had to offer, but I was waiting for something khaenri’an-related too. And I know that’s not gonna happen immediately after Act 5, but you know me.
Where am I going with this? Simple;
What if Furina was originally a human of Khaenri’an ancestry? And like Dainsleif, what if she was also cursed with immortality?
Let’s say, in this Au, Egeria had Celestia’s permission to turn the oceanids into humans. Some of those humans were interested in Khaenri’ah, and visited the place way before the cataclysm. She would later consider them traitors.
Furina learnt about Fontaine from them, and she was particularly fascinated in their culture, and their archon, Egeria.
Then the catastrophe struck, and Furina watched her non-khaenri’an friends become monsters, their remaining humanity clouded by an ugly face and animalistic desires.
Upon learning Egeria’s involvement in the destruction of her nation, she felt betrayed. She felt angered. She felt a form of injustice.
So she sought her out; she took her limitless life to her advantage, and looked for the thing that called itself a ‘God of justice’.
For this Au, Egeria lived past the Cataclysm, though not for long.
Furina actively hunted her down. Searching high and low. Every inch of Fontaine.
Until she found her, at the Weeping Willow Of The Lake. Or at least, the island where the tree would then grow.
It started as a confrontation. Furina wanted to know why her nation was destroyed. It would have been a simple question, but Egeria became quickly defensive of her involvement.
Furina couldn’t keep her rage to herself. She began to yell at the hydro archon, demanding an apology.
And with the sword in her hand, she attacked Egeria. Without even a slight warning.
She repeatedly stabs her, each hit for her ‘deceased’ friends. Each stab for her pent-up anger, her pent-up sorrow, her sadness, her guilt, anything that may align with grief.
Before she processes what she had done, with Egeria struggling to keep her physical body up, the ‘dying’ archon muttered out a spell;
Furina, having been cursed with immortality, will also be cursed to hold the ‘title’ of an Archon. She will have to be seen as one, treated as one, thought of one, and so forth. Otherwise, Fontaine’s citizens will drown, and that will leave Furina in a lonely throne, miserable once more. What adds to the irony is that she’s khaenri’an. Thus, the beginning of the prophecy.
At first, she didn’t take the ‘curse’ seriously. But it became apparent sooner than expected that she is, in fact, an archon in place of Egeria now.
Not that she would complain much — the praise she got was euphoric.
The Weeping Willow is believed to have grown from the physical body of Egeria. It weeps out of rage, to have let a godless, inhumane thing get anywhere close to her.
I have so much to write for this, and I don’t even write often.
It’s late right now so yeah that’s all messy concepts and such but GOD.

stainedglassthreads said here: One reason I could see people disappointed is I saw a few people theorizing ‘royal blood’ was why certain Khaenri’ahn characters didn’t become monsters, so now we’re kinda back to square one on how Kaeya and Dain resisted the curse. XD but you raise a lot of good points I agree with.
But Dain isn’t royalty either? Or am I missing the point of the theory haha   Plus he IS cursed, just not turned into an abyssal creature fully!
Tbh I’m not very keen on theorizing when there’s this little info, but if I were to make a guess then I’d say there was a small area protected from the full effects of the curse, at least enough to retain human visage.
Perhaps it was Rhinedottir OR the last king (Irmin probably) OR the previous Dendro Archon who installed a barrier of sorts on the grounds of the royal palace, saving only a few of those who happened to be inside. Maybe not even on purpose to protect themselves, but as an epicenter of the Abyss’s outpour, eye of the storm kind of thing.
It would explain why so far every surviving Khaenriahn character is somehow connected to royalty, I think.
Dainsleif is a royal guard
Pierro ‘failed to earn the favor of the previous ruler’ and ‘failed to stop them from tearing away the veil of sin’ implying that he was nearby
Kaeya is an Alberich, a family line who became regents, so they must have been rather close to the throne too
Rhinedottir - no direct confirmation whether she worked for royalty or not, but it does seem likely since they both had ‘ambitions’ which led to Khaenri’ah’s fall
It’s a bit difficult to tell for sure right now though because there were at least 4 cataclysmic events at the same time: Celestia attacked, Dendro Archon died & Baal died (and gods’ deaths seem to be rather destructive), Abyss consumed everything and corrupted regular people, at least some of Rhinedottir’s monsters got out and attacked Teyvat. And I might be forgetting something. Either way, timeline and sequence of events are unclear at this time. The curse’s effects are also unexplained so far - they seem to be conditional immortality, some kind of abyssal taint and it seems to be hurting those it inflicted at the end of their ‘lives’. It’s fully probable that Kaeya’s also somewhat affected but since he’s young and born this long after the cataclysm it’s not as bad? Like always, we don’t know anything, but in this specific case I’m fine with that because it does seem to be more fitting for a later stage in the story.

Silence Starts to Overflow (Venti x Reader)
Barbatos’s voice, whispering gently in the wind, stirs you from the slumber you were about to give into. How cruel, that you would allow yourself to pass without saying farewell to him.
MASTERLIST
Death isn’t quite the right word for it.
It would be more fitting to say that you’re passing—because passing is something that precedes catching, catching is something that precedes continuing, and continuing is something that precedes life.
Though to say that this state you’re in can precede life is a lie at best.
Where are you?
Barbatos’s voice, whispering gently in the wind, stirs you from the slumber you were about to give into.
How cruel, that you would allow yourself to pass without saying farewell to him.
The final remnants of your strength—the strength you’d been saving for a final, devastating blow against Baal, the strength you never got to use because Rex Lapis ambushed you first with an cataclysmic meteor—fly out from your fingertips in a single beacon of light that pierces the clouds as it broadcasts your position to the world.
Instantly, you feel the wind turn.
A smile crosses your lips at that. Channeling your Lumino into the sky so freely is a risky move, especially given that every archon in the area now knows where you are. You can already sense the familiar pulse of Geo and Electro growing closer as Rex Lapis and Baal doubtlessly venture back to you to finish the job, but, of course, Barbatos is faster.
Geo is slow, after all.
Electro is marginally faster, given the right medium.
Nothing, however, can trump the speed of Anemo.
Nothing but Lumino, though you suppose that will cease to exist with your passing.
“You’re a fool,” Barbatos whispers in that breathy, exhilarated voice of his. “Someone could have seen,” he says. “You’re lucky I was so close.”
Ah. It appears that he hasn’t seen your wounds yet.
Well, that’s not so bad.
You allow yourself to relax as Barbatos gathers you in his arms at the speed of wind, holding you close against his chest as he rides a breeze of his own making into the sky.
“There are less than a hundred gods left, now. You and I can keep a low profile these next few days and wait for the numbers to dwindle, and then we can start working together to…”
You say nothing as Barbatos continues.
To die like this, in the arms of your lover, the sound of his laughter in his ear and the element of his soul surrounding you...would be a peaceful death.
A nice death.
As Barbatos eagerly tells you about his fight against Beleth, you press your head deeper into his chest. You take a deep breath of his scent, the scent of cecilias and happiness and youth and freedom, and you begin to let yourself drift away, the strength of Lumino finally fading from your gnosis and from this world, and…
How cruel.
You can’t bring yourself to part from your lover just yet.
Not without a proper goodbye, at least.
“Barbatos,” you whisper, just strong enough to lift your head off his chest. “Barbatos, please.”
It’s at this moment that Barbatos looks, properly looks, down at you, and you can see the adrenaline of his victory sap from his expression, beautiful blue eyes turning from overjoyed to mortified in a single second.
“No,” he mutters when he sees how the light has already begun to fade from your eyes, the natural waves of Lumino that used to radiate off you so naturally now turned dim with your impending death. “No. No, this can’t—no, no. No. Please. No. No.”
Within a second, he has your back lain against a cloud, as if the stoppage of movement can do anything with your elemental energy so far dwindled.
“Who—who did this—”
You smile gently.
“It doesn’t matter.”
Baal isn’t an especially dangerous woman: you know Barbatos can defeat her; but if she’s managed to obtain an alliance with Rex Lapis, God of War, then the last thing you want is for your lover to attempt to avenge you and get himself killed just like you. Not when Barbatos is already so strong. Not when he already has a chance at becoming one of the Final Seven.
“T-This isn’t a time for—”
“Shh,” you whisper, reaching for his hands. The touch calms him. You channel what little power you have left into his hands, praying that he can feel it. Feel you.
“Tell me,” Barbatos says, tears beginning to build in those mesmerizing eyes. It’s hardly the time to be thinking about it, but this form that he’s chosen is truly beautiful: skin like porcelain, perfect and fine and untouchable, stunning dark blue hair, thick and nearly-black at every inch, and eyes that hold your entire world in them, blue and green and Barbatos. “I—please, they might still be around here. I can defeat them and give you their gnosis, and—”
You force yourself past your limits to lift an arm up to Barbatos’s chin. It takes all your effort to press a single finger against his lips, a wordless seal on the conversation.
“You’re dying,” he whispers, the tears now spilling forth. “You’re—you’re—”
You press your finger against his lips again, silently asking him to speak not of your death, and the god breaks down next to you, sobbing loudly as he pulls you closer, now holding you in his arms instead of allowing you to remain flat on the ground.
It’s quite uncomfortable, actually.
Yet, you prefer the warmth of your lover’s arms to soft chill of the clouds, prefer the sensation of his salty tears spilling onto your hair, prefer the way you can savor the feeling of him a little bit longer this way.
“S-Sitri should be near here. I-if you can last just a little longer, he’ll be able to heal you and—”
Your heart falls. This must be karma.
“I killed Sitri this morning.”
The devastation in Barbatos’s eyes when you say that is more painful than the spreading darkness in your gut.
“Ph-Phenex might—”
“Sitri killed Phenex. He told me.”
The sound that spills past Barbatos’s lips at that is something between a wail and a whimper, a sob and a scream. It’s nothing like the beautiful music you’re used to hearing from his lips, and it hurts you to know that you’re the cause of this awful noise, this awful pain that will hurt him so much more than it can hurt you.
Though that’s the nature of this war, isn’t it? The very notion of thousands of gods, thousands of elements, all fighting against one another in an attempt to sit on one of the final seven seats in Celestia is something that can only occur with death, with sacrifice.
You and Barbatos were naive for ever thinking that both of you would be able to make it.
“Barbatos,” you say, cupping his cheek gently, admiring the silky softness of his skin because you know this is the last time you’ll be able to do so. “I want you to live.”
“Stop it,” Barbatos says. “Stop—stop talking like you’re going to—to—”
“To die,” you finish for him, and your hand falls from Barbatos’s cheek. You don’t have the strength to hold it up anymore. “But I don’t want you to die.”
“N-no, please, I—” Barbatos sobs, an ugly sound. “I don’t want to live in a world without you.”
“I want you to live,” you say, stubborn. “Live for me.”
“I don’t want to,” Barbatos whispers. “Not without you. S-so if you want me to live, please just try to—”
“I can’t.” Your smile is sad as you stare at him. “I can’t, Barbatos, but you can.”
“I don’t—”
“Take my gnosis.”
Your lover physically recoils at that, shock painted on his beautiful features before denial takes over.
“No,” he says, shaking his head furiously. “No, no, no. No. I won’t. I—you’ll only die faster without your—”
“Barbatos,” you say, wishing you had the strength to reach out and grab his hand. “Barbatos, for all purposes, I'm already dead.”
“No!” he shouts, and when he sees how you wince at that, he lowers the volume of his voice. “No, you’re—you’re not dead. You’re alive, you’re here, and you don’t have to—”
“I can’t control it if I die.” You turn your gaze from Barbatos to the sky, vaguely wondering what heavens are above the heavens. “But you can make sure you don't. Take my gnosis.”
“I don’t want it,” Barbatos whispers, and his eyes shimmer with tears he’s trying to hold back.
“Take it,” you say. “Take it and live. And remember me. And build a world where no one else needs to die like this.”
“I don’t care about anyone else,” Barbatos whispers, but his hand is on your heart, now. “I just want you. Please. Please don’t—”
“Take it.”
The power of Lumino comes to a peak as you allow the source of it to expose itself, raw elemental energy radiating off your body.
“Hurry,” you whisper. “Someone will come.”
“I-I don’t—”
Barbatos lets his hand grip the gnosis, but he can’t seem to bring himself to take it out from you. Doubtless, it’s because he knows that this gnosis is the only thing allowing you to cling to life—but for him to be able to absorb its power, he has to take it from you when you’re still alive. You need him to take it now. If you want to make sure he has the strength to become one of the Final Seven, this push is the only thing you can offer him.
“I love you.”
The words fall from your lips naturally, and the power of saying them—a power that inevitably rises because those three words, that declaration of your heart’s true sentiments, are the reason you’re able to get up every day, a power that gives and gives and gives and is the sole reason for which you live—sends you a final boost of strength.
You thrust your hand onto Barbatos’s and hold it.
With the gentleness that only the shadow death can bring, you lift his hand, still closed around your gnosis, from your body.
The second your gnosis is off of you, it binds to Barbatos.
You can see the power travel into his body: the power that manifested as Lumino in you being absorbed into his body as the tips of his braids turn bright at the edges, a beautiful blue as bright as the sky where the edge of Barbatos's hair was once nearly black. You can feel, then, as the gnosis amplifies his power: it happens in a shockwave that jolts your body, a shockwave that shakes you to the core with the original source of your power now gone.
“You…”
Barbatos stares down at you with wide and teary eyes. Where you seem mesmerized by his transformation, it seems that he’s horrified at yours. No doubt, just as the light entered him, it must be equally visible that it’s left you.
A chilling breeze draws towards you. You shiver under it.
“Cold,” you mutter, and Barbatos instantly pulls his cape off to wrap you in it. Somehow, it does nothing to warm you up. The cold, it seems, originates from within.
“Stay with me,” Barbatos says, cradling you in his arms. He presses his lips to your forehead. “Stay with me, love. Stay with me. You can live through this, I know it, just stay…”
Ah.
It’s so cold.
The chill that begins from deep inside you spreads, branching towards your fingertips and your toes and up your neck. With it comes a darkness, one that your power has always protected you from. Now, though, Lumino is weak. It stands no chance at being one of the Final Seven elements. You failed it as an archon.
“...with me. Please. Please don’t go. Stay. Please. Please…”
You want to respond to him. You’ve never heard Barbatos sound so miserable, so broken. You stare up at him, trying to make your lips form the shape to words that will comfort him.
You can’t seem to move your lips.
You can’t seem to move your eyes, either.
Numb, you stare up at Barbatos, unblinking and unmoving. Your gaze is fixed on him, a darkness creeping in at the edges.
No, you think. No, stop. I want to look at him longer.
The darkness doesn’t oblige. It creeps closer and closer, and a desperate fear begins to overtake you. Is this the last time you’ll see your lover? Why? How? How can that be? That can’t be right. You and Barbatos were supposed to win this war. You and Barbatos were supposed to survive this war. You and Barbatos were supposed to rule a nation together and save the world together and build a life together and—
Why is it all going away?
Stripped of the power of light that had always protected you, the darkness you’d always feared crawls closer.
Stop, you think. Stop it. Don’t take him away. I want to stay. I want to stay with him. I don’t—
Despite the chilling cold that’s wrapped around all your body, you feel a tear fall.
I don’t want to die.
You hear something that sounds like a scream, but it’s so distant. It’s like a howl: monstrous and enraged and furious and terrifying, yet...familiar. Suddenly, you can’t figure out who this wailing reminds you of, but the thought of the person sends a strange sense of warmth to you.
It’s nice, you think.
You can’t be quite sure what’s happening anymore. All you know is that it’s cold and dark, so horribly cold and dark.
The howling sound grows louder. Vaguely, you feel something grip you, shake you, cling to you.
Something about you is instinctively soothed by the touch. Amidst all this cold and all this darkness, you think you can find comfort in this sensation. You know you shouldn’t like it—that the feeling of your body being shaken and clung to and howled and wailed at isn’t something you should like—but there’s peace in it.
It’s a nice feeling.
It’s a nice feeling.

So I have some thoughts after this story quest that I just want to write out, if you haven’t played the new story quest yet please don’t read this post as it will contain some spoilers.
This chapter act confirmed quite a few fan theories that have been circling around since launch:
For one, we now have confirmation that the twins did arrive in Teyvat during the fall of Khaenriah. We also have confirmation that the abyss is comprised of the people of Khaenriah, cursed to live as monsters. However, we know that not all of its people were turned into monsters due to Kaeya and Dain still retaining their human form. Kaeya does speak hilichurlian though...
We now know that the fall of Khaenriah was the result of divine intervention, and not quite the great cataclysm, though it could’ve easily have been both. And we also have reason to believe that the archons played a role, even if that role was turning a blind eye, in the destruction of Khaenriah. Zhongli and Venti a little sus...
We also know from Venti in the prologue that the Tsaritsa changed as a person 500 years ago....when the destruction of Khaenriah took place, so there’s obviously a connection there. We know she is planning a rebellion against Celestia and it’s very possible whatever the archons had to do during the fall of Khaenriah made the Tsaritsa turn against Celestia, and even her fellow archons. And whatever her reasoning for collecting the other Gnosis, it was enough to convince Zhongli to barter for his. We also know the archon of Sumeru died around this time so it’s possible their death is also linked to Khaenriah’s demise.
Then there’s the other sibling, who’s speaking in riddles and making claims about a war with destiny, engulfing the thrones, and having all the time in the world. Please no time loops mihoyo I beg you. 😭
There are obviously many pieces missing from the puzzle to try to make sense of it all just yet. Some things I do find interesting/important:
* The BP story. It speaks of a princess and who set out to find the Genesis Pearl but was ultimately corrupted and turned evil. Her brother, the prince, is now on the search of the Genesis Pearl and the game makes a point to say it’s “your” journey, alluding to the player. This story is very reminiscent of Aether and Lumine’s situation coming to Teyvat to look for “something” and one of them ultimately becoming “corrupted,” although it does omit the whole part of them traveling together through worlds and being stopped by the Unknown God. At what point does this story change from fact to myth?
* We still don’t know what exactly the archons we’ve met are hiding from us, or what the other archons are like. I don’t think it’s fair to immediately antagonize them just yet, but they definitely know more than they are letting on.
* Paimon. Paimon is sus as hell. While I don’t necessarily believe she’s the unknown god or the god of time or anything like that she’s definitely important. There’s a reason she’s the mascot. There’s a reason she meets aether/Lumine in the beginning and agrees to travel with them. Whether she’s malicious and knows more than she says, or is truly oblivious there’s something special about her either way. Albedo even pointed out in 1.2 event that she’s different from anything he’s seen in the world of Teyvat. My theory for now is that she is from Celestia. Whether she’s a spy of some sort or an actual god I’m not sure, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a big reveal or plot twist regarding Paimon later on. She’s definitely more than just a travel companion (and emergency food.)
* Finally, Dainslief. There’s still a lot of mystery that shrouds him but we know from the story preview trailer that he will most likely be (one of) the final bosses. I don’t think he’s necessarily evil, just that his motives might eventually clash with our own. He’s a very interesting character. He does not respect the gods enough to worship them but respects them enough not to fuck with them. I’m curious to see what else we learn about him as the story progresses.
I’m excited to see how this story plays out, there’s a lot of potential here and I love learning more about the lore of Teyvat. Please miHoYo give the main character more voicelines! I think it’s fair to say they are their own character at this point and any future meetings with their sibling will be awkward as hell if they don’t fucking talk. Also, I know this is probably inevitable given the already existing connections to the god of time and that miHoYo has relied on time loops in previous games but...time travel/time loops are so overdone and cliche and I really hope this story doesn’t end right where we started. I want there to be resolution. I want the twins to be truly reunited and finally leave Teyvat. I need for there to be a definitive ending.

@voiceofduality has spoken:
❛ how long have you been standing there ? ❜ from zhongli (@hiidroculus )
Tsaritsa knows that her presence can be oppressive to others, especially after the Cataclysm. She knows she’s taken the role of the ice empress, drowning her love beneath the snow and frost, turning it into nothing but shattered pieces scattered within her soul. Silver gaze remains steady as she looks at Morax, there is no sense of superiority but also no sense of being below him. Many would be intimidated to stand before Rex Lapis of Liyue, but she is not. There is nothing to be worried about as they are no enemies and it brings no satisfaction to her to see him fall. He will be the memory of the past while she’ll lead her people towards the future, even if it means turning them against her in the end. Such is the price she must pay for dethroning of Celestia’s divine gaze.
Tumblr media
“ Long enough, ” she crosses her arms under her chest, switching her weight from her right leg to her left. It doesn’t matter how long she’s been here, it was all enough to hear him speak and watch his behavior. Beleth doesn’t have an ounce of bad will against Morax as long as he operates peacefully with her; just like he is - she is a warrior. Warfare is her bread and butter alongside new unique strategies that have been developed over the last decades, region of Snezhnaya pushing forward with technology and even creation of Adventurers’ Guild. Tsaritsa sighs as she shakes her head, eyes closed before they open again to gaze at the Geo Archon, her old friend. “ Have you lost your senses, Morax? Or do you prefer being called Rex Lapis? Or even your mortal name as of now - Zhongli? ”
Why is she here? A question like that would be understandable as she hasn’t announced her approach or her presence here. The woman who is slowly taking Teyvat under her reign, taking away Gnosis of others to have enough power to bring the heaven’s down. It makes the woman doubt he’ll fully side with her, but they are all arrogant. All of them as Archons. All of them have contributed to Khaenri’ah’s demise. There is no possibility of washing their hands off blood that they shed all those years ago. He’s bound by contract to not speak of it, Tsaritsa knows. Her love has been shattered after the fall.
“ Are you unhappy with my presence? It has been quite a while since we’ve last seen each other face-to-face like this. ” His wisdom is respected but he is just like her - on equal footing, a person whom she will not attack or agitate without a big enough reason to poke the sleeping dragon. Even without his Gnosis, he would still be a person worthy of her respect. “ You have not changed. Unshakable as always. ” She almost feels envy, almost.

Alrighty, not sure when the next season is going to start, but I do know that this bunch of pony is ending with the two-parter “School Raze”.  I… may have been one of those kids who wouldn’t have been sad to see their school razed.
* Cozy Glow is being helpful.  Supposedly. I wouldn’t really be sure all of the dropped letters were for the school.  Or that there wasn’t more.
* That kid’s got more of a rainbow mane than Rainbow Dash.
* Girl’s gunning for Spike’s job.
* I feel ya Yona. Except for the falling through a cloud bit.  Can’t say I’ve come that close to death from heights.
* And this is why you should keep your feet/hooves on the ground!
* Spontaneous magic failure is a good enough reason for a crying fit.  Gonna be a pain to touch up her makeup afterward though without it.
* It seems like jumping the gun to blame Tirek.  I mean, Chrysalis had that throne made of magic-nullifying stone.  Oh sure, her last plan did not impress, but she is still out there.  Or for the same kind of source it could easily be Maud.  Or a new threat.  But it’s probably Tirek, as he’s the one mentioned.
* OK, Spike almost chocking on a letter is kinda horrifying.  Also, if you’re having magic problems, don’t send messages by magic. Lucky that got through at all. Though maybe Celestia sent a pegasus as well just in case.
* See, Starswirl knows to just use a mundane messenger.
* I dunno, it doesn’t really match Tirek’s MO.  I mean, he’d mug one pony at a time, or grab groups, but it was still very targeted. If he could pull this kind of a generalized drain I think he would have.  Unless he just figured it out or something.
* When was Twilight ever in Tartarus?  She was the only princess not to get sent there.  …Oh right, walking Cerberus back to his post.  Never mind, forgot the offscreen occurrence for a second there.
* Eh, Twilight’s justified in a little freak out away from the troops her friends.
* Yeah, Cozy totally just made a power grab here.  I do have to wonder what she did to Starlight after she stayed behind rather than adventuring.
* Smolder was raised in a culture of struggle and dominance.  She’s knows Cozy’s story stinks like the restrooms after a class trip to Taco Bellflower.
* Bug repellent spells would probably be the one of the best things about magic.  Anyway, has Rarity considered using her tail as a flyswatter?
* And the show says that 2 seconds later.  It’s nice when they remember they’re equines.
* “I think we have all the magic we need right here.”  Cue Rainbow’s cloud holding ability failing in 3… 2… 1…
* Nice door to the pits of Hell.  Er, Tartarus.
* How many doors has Pinkie gotten in that way?  Also, not having a key seems like a lack of foresight when you know the normal way of opening the lock is failing.
* It can magically open any door… and just so happens to perfectly match the indentation of this one.
* Alternatively, imagine the “key of unfettered access” looking like a keyblade, because of course that’s what comes to mind when mentioning a magical key that can open any lock these days.
* On one hand, yes, it’s sad that all of these creatures have lost abilities inherit to them.  In the wild that could cause a huge problem for survival.  However, I would remind Spike that they are in Tartarus for a reason.  I mean, assuming that they don’t want to lock up every creature from a species that would strongly imply that these are the dangerous, feral pony-killers.
* Chancellor Neighsay has a point about a foal being left in charge.  Except she wasn’t, but Cozy’s not about to admit that.
* Yeah, I don’t think you can just walk into a facility and declare yourself to be in charge now. Even Cozy has made the pretense of being put into her position temporarily under extreme circumstances by the people entitled to make that decision.
* Yeah, uh, pretty sure Cerberus doesn’t need magic to do his job.
* OK, I did not need to see Tirek do that thing with his tongue.
* Magic goes missing and so Neighsay thinks Twilight is wasting her time trying to fix the problem rather than stomping on other races while she is at her weakest.  Wow. This guy is officially pants-on-head duuuuuuuuumb.
* Further proof this guy has drunk far too much Trump-aid is he actually buys Sandbar’s sudden yet inevitable betrayal of his friends.
* I’m not sure the CMC can actually help here.  They ain’t got power either.  Of course they’re only supposed to cause a distraction, but still.
* So Cozy Glow learned how to drain magic from Tirek, because she bothered to write and ask and he was bored.  You know… I’ll buy it.  Guy’s still probably plotting an escape, and at least he could be assured of revenge by proxy.
* “Empress of Friendship”? Girl… no.  Just, no.  That name is stupid.  So, so stupid.
EPISODE 25 OVER!  EPISODE 26 NOW!
 * Did Twilight just suggest draining the monsters of their remaining magic to power her own for an escape? Don’t turn into a Blood Mage Twilight!  Stay good!  Stay good!
* If all of Equestria’s magic is being sucked up to where Starlight is being held, I wonder what that’ll do to her after this is all fixed.  I mean, I know you shouldn’t consume an energy field larger than yourself, but if there was ever a time to have a bite…
* Yeah, not to disagree with Sandbar, but… I gotta disagree with Sandbar.  There’s no way that idiot wouldn’t think this was just some trick by the monsters.
* “The reign of Princess Twilight is over?”  Yeah, look forward to a long stay in Tartarus after this for an attempted coup.
* Yeah, that was a pathetically short stint as headstallion.  Dude was barely a road bump to Cozy, and all she had to do was point out what a complete failure and traitor he was.  If only it was that easy in real life…
* Shoulda kept charging, Yona.  Impressive that she can pick a lock with a horn that size though.  Wonder where she learned it?  Probably Pinkie’s class.
* Tirek was kinda short-sighted here.  He had no plan beyond getting rid of magic.  Which screws him too, as he’s left frail and powerless.  Unless he has a way of drawing upon the Ether he hasn’t mentioned.
* Fluttershy is about to attempt an Epic Druid feat.  Pinkie meanwhile attempts an Epic Troll feat.
* So, yank out a single artifact and cause the Cataclysm.  Got it, thanks for the safety tip Ocellus.  Guessing this means they have to pull them all out at the same time.
* You know, if there was ever an opportunity to have Twilight undergo a second ascension, that was it.  Also, kinda weird that draining the magic from those creatures made them normal, separate animals.
* Nothing like the stupidity of an angry mob.  Seriously, so many idiots in this finale.
* The Tree just said “no”,
* Well, points to Cozy for trying to salvage the situation with the wrath of an angry alicorn before her.
* Make that 3 angry alicorns, an angry mob of students, the Elemental Harmony squad, the Elemental Harmony Jr. Division, and a whole lot of angry guards.  Oh, and a braindead bigot who happens to have a powerful artifact.
* And so a little girl was shut behind bars in the deepest pit of Tartarus forever.  But chances are that she’s a complete uncurable sociopath anyway?
And that’s the end of the season.  For the finale itself, eh, it was alright, but Neighsay if still aggravating and Cozy only got as far as she did because most ponies apparently love to eat lead paint chips as a snack.  But the actual threat was certainly menacing enough.  I am a little disappointed Neighsay didn’t have to pay for all the crap he’s pulled.  Seriously, dude should have at least lost his job several times over during this season.
And as for the season itself, there were some interesting world building and character episodes in there. But honestly the whole Friendship School idea still hasn’t sold itself to me.  And considering they had an entire season to do that in with the opening and finale focusing on the place and its students, that’s not good. Bringing students together from a wide area and different species?  Sure, sounds interesting.  Having the teachers help out their students with friendship problems and demonstrate how it and teamwork can help you out in an academic setting and outside it as well? Great!  But having an entire school dedicated to friendship is still just the most eye-rolling thing.  They really shouldn’t have tried to push it that far.  It just doesn’t work.  But overall while this hasn’t been my favorite season I still enjoy the show overall and am looking forward to more… whenever they get around to that.
