AITA for purposely ruining a woman's hair?

I (19f) am a licensed hairdresser fulltime. A bit of backstory My best friend (same age) got married this year to a man who is older than 28 but younger then 35. I tried to discourage her and explained that the age gap is fucked considering the guy is the same age as my mom (like if my mom dated someone my age it would be fucked and my friend said that but its fine because "we grew up with him" and i said that made it worse).

He actually was my neighbor for most of my life. He wasn't a bad person, always seemed good, but obviously I dont think highly of him now. We all went to similar events like festivals and saw each other, but we never hung out. He saw me and my best friend a lot together and when we became 17 he started talking to her. It was a whole "meetcute" story according to my friend. Neighbor who she saw and thought was cute for years happened to invite her over in the pouring rain because I got delayed and didn't meet her at my house in time and her parents had already dropped her off.

They started dating the day she turned 18 and got married soon after she was 19.

Mary, the mother of my neighbor and now my best friends MIL (turning 50f) has been vocal about not liking me for literally my whole life. I've been called trouble, a nuisance, trash, etc. Made slutshaming comments because I got a belly button ring, called me a exotic dancer to my face because I was dancing and shaking my hips and butt, and then a whore when I wore a tank top and shorts...just The stereotypical "Christian" white woman.

Mary is talking constantly to my friend, her son adding in, that I'm a bad influence and now my friend is pulling away.

Well long story short (too late i know sorry want to give background info but it turned out to be like a lot) Mary came into the shop. She asked for a cut and color and I was the only one available. She visibly sneered but agreed and made snide comments the entire time I tried to figure out what she wanted. She wanted red. A natural red. And I was going to do it, but then she said I needed to make sure I washed my hands so I didn't get her dirty and then when I glared at her and asked what she meant by dirty because my hands were clean she laughed and said "oh I didn't mean no offense sweetie".

So I went and brought out the book that has hair color samples and stsrt showing her reds. I asked her if she wanted E3 or 5A for example, those aren't at all but you get the idea. She said she wanted red, so I went "oh like 4A" which was FIRE HYDRANT red. I knew she wanted naturalish and NOT that but she verbalized yes yes that 4A.

So I did. It came out bright red and she started yelling and screaming. My coworkers heard her say which one she wanted and we pulled the book out and showed her thats what she had verbalized, so I'm off the hook.

But now im like...that was a bit mean? I mean she can redye it, and my work gave her a discount. I didnt chop her hair off or do anything out of what she asked, but I know damn well she didn't want that. My friend texted me really upset accusing me and I played dumb. She's already pulling away from me and now I feel its going to be worse because of this...aita?

making my own post on the "crazy together causing byler doubt" thing.

and i have advice: you ppl need to stop taking any symbolism or parallels or whatever too literally and seriously. like, actually look at the scenes and not just go "well they are certainly saying words".

we agreed that crazy = (romantic) love, and love makes you crazy. that is true. but its not that simple. all three instances of it, are in three completely different contexts and situations.

jonathan tries to get nancy to leave but attacks steve after he taunts him about his family and insults not only him but the ppl he loves. he’s not just defending nancy from being slutshamed.

"only love makes you that crazy, sweetheart" - the crazy = love thing is made all romantic because the series tries to put the focus on the fact jonathan has feelings for nancy. its a tool. but theres context for it, and that is the fact that jonathan went crazy because of his love for joyce, will, not only nancy. they are treated as side characters of sorts here, though, because the show focuses on the romantic implications of that scene and how it involves jonathan and nancy, plus a character with no knowledge of jonathan’s issues making assumptions. this particular line isnt about jonathans family.

"crazy together", is another instance, and again you cant take it too literally. jonathan went after steve because of his family not just nancy but the show is trying to make going crazy symbolize romantic love specifically. they make it about jonathan and nancy for sake of this. same with byler. its a scene between the two discussing their traumas. in this instance the things that make them go crazy arent romantic!! what makes will go crazy is literally UD visions come on. and mike’s issue is feeling he sees el etc. he is just a child going thru survivors guilt. mike constantly calling el and having hope she survived isnt him being in love and peak romance. just like, i remind you, mike being devoted to finding will isnt proof of him being romantically in love with him. remember lucas risking it all to find will? yh its a weak argument. the romantic thing about it all is them saying they’ll go crazy TOGETHER.

in short jonathan sorta went crazy over joyce and will too but the duffers went for making it about jancy and the family love thing is shoved in the bg in favor of presenting the romantic love makes you crazy thing.

will went crazy over ud visions, mike went crazy over the situation with el. but thats not the romantic parts. its them going crazy together.

and third - "they do say it makes you crazy" which again isnt meant to be taken 100% srsly as proof mike loves el or whatever. context, context, it matters. this is supposed to show us that oh crazy together wasnt so friendly, mike himself mentions love makes you crazy so —-

yeah. its all just incredibly simple. watch the show, toss the youtube scenepacks to the side. pls dont listen to reddit. genuinely dont. after s3 they tried to make us look silly for just thinking will is gay. they see the show thru a different lense.

just look at s4. practically every byler scene has el mentioned at one point. doesnt make byler less romantic, right? come on

Honestly I dont know if I’ll ever love Nesta. Sjm basically wrecked most of her characters trying to justify Nesta/ give her an arc and it didn’t work for me at all. Multiple characters watered down beyond belief just for Nesta to heal through constant training, sex and friendship bracelets. First Rhysand, I know what SJM was going for, seeing Rhysand not through Feyres rose colored glasses but she took it to the extreme with him lying to Feyre. Second Feyre herself losing her spark and fight and basically just being a doormat. Third Mor, “the dreamer of the night court” saying Nesta should be a Hewn City and still weirdly flirting with Cassian in front of Nesta. Just weird. And lastly Cassian, this strong dynamic character is nothing but a himbo now. What happened to The General of the night court? Because it is not acosf cassian.

And Nesta’s friends. Two girls who have never seen Nestas bad side, never been on the receiving end of her bitchyness are now her sisters? Is Emerie paying her bills? Would Gwyn stick around if Nesta called her a dog? NO. Feyre and Elain tried so hard for Nesta and nothing came of it. The ending was so cheap just to redeem Nesta and get her in the good graces of Rhys/Feyre. No real healing at all, and especially none with Elain who Nesta would supposedly whore/steal for. Yet she’s giggling so much with Emerie/Gwyn when if she just gave half of that love to her sisters everything would’ve been okay.

I seriously do not know what was going through SJM’s head while writing this and to me Nesta still isnt a good character. And it’s going to be very weird if in the next book she’s hanging out with the IC like nothing ever happened and they’re a great family

Especially the Emerie and Gwyn part. Like that part enrages me the most about that book. That and the obliteration of Cassian's character. But yes, if suddenly Nesta came to Gwyn and threw at her that she was responsible for Catrin's death, hwo would Gwyn react? Yet people feel that Elain totally overreacted when Nesta did that to her and accused her of basically killing their father. If Nesta made a comment about Emerie's sexuality, for example, would Emerie be like, oh, it's cool girl! Where as slutshaming Feyre in ACOTAR is somehow not a biggie.

The writing is such a mess.

Mor is actually a great example of how SJM just...doesn't think!??!!

If she is attempting to make Mor even less likable, I suppose she is succeeding. But Mor still hanging on Cassian, bashing his mate in front of him, telling Nesta that she ought to be in Hewn City...what the fuck?

I mean, maybe SJM is gearing up to make Mor evil? Because she certainly isn't doing anything to make her even remotely attractive.

And I get the idea of seeing the world through another person's eyes. but that's not how you do it. You have to juxtapose the perception with reality. There needs to be kind of a 'true reality' and then other people's opinions. But we, as readers, have to know that the opinion is in fact skewed. Nesta's views were skewed. But, at the same time, everything was written so badly, everyone comes out looking like shit--including Nesta, and the people that she supposedly hates.

We shouldn't need interviews with the author to understand what she was trying to do/say.

Ugh. SJM assassinated every character in ACOSF and thinks that it's a great book!

I agree with you. I was debating posting this, because while I know little of their background, I do know they have been going through a tough time recently and I don’t really want to make them feel worse. However, I do feel this is a serious issue and I suspect it is a case of internalized misogyny, since anon does hint at knowing her statements won’t be regarded well. Maybe reading your post will make her realize some things for herself, because she is probably basing her own actions and live in general on her idea of how a woman should behave too. And that is not a great place to be in.

he tried blackmailing an old client for money

ian was helping others and was spreading awareness about lgbt with in the prison , and as him and jail scenes go , we can see people were listening to him and he was trying to make it safe sane and consensual

he didnt want to, we can see this, because he knew he would let down everyone, his family were the only ones to ever ground him and they knew it would be the best option for his own mental health

he wanted to, it’s obvious, but ian has his family and didnt want to abandon them again, i think part of him knew he would see mickey again because they always find eachother, he gave mickey all of his money and wanted mickey to have a good life

he never apologized for all the shit he put mickey and his family through, never apologized to mickey for cheating on him , never apologized for all the manic and depressive episodes mickey endured with him

now the bi thing , legit all i think is that he doesnt hate bisexual people its just that the man he really liked slept with a woman and never expressed any heterosexual attraction so it probably just suprised him and pissed him off because caleb did cheat on ian

banri day?? banri????? i dont have anything new but ill post a scene from wip that will never be finished where juza goes to camp for two weeks and banri experiences realizashuns

Banri rolled through morning practice like a derailed train.

“What the fuck,” he repeated for what may have been the twelfth time that day.

“Well,” Omi said while cocking his head and squinting at the screen. “I’m glad he’s making friends!”

“Since when did Hyodo have friends?” Banri asked.

“We’re his friends.”

“And that’s a fat fucking L on your part, but me? I’m built different.”

Omi frowned as he puzzled over Banri’s words. “I’m sorry. I do not know what most of that sentence means.”

“God Omi,” Banri said while sucking his teeth. “You’re so old.”

“I’m three years older than you.”

Banri furrowed his perfectly tweezed eyebrows as he considered that. “Nah, that’s fake.”

Azami, interested in the conversation for the first time, took one of his earbuds out. “I have theories,” he stated.

“About Hyodo?”

“Why would I––Nevermind. Anyways, I think Omi is evading tax fraud.” The way Azami stated it made it sound like he had put a lot of thought into this. It was a convincing argument.

“Hm…” Banri considered it.

“I’m a student…” Omi defended himself.

“Yeah, tell that to the government, Boomer.”

“I have an ID!”

“And I’m from a Yakuza family. I know that shit’s easy to fake, but whatever.” Azami gestured to his eyes signalling a I’m watching you warning.

Banri slapped Omi on the back of his freakishly broad shoulders. “Come on, you are kinda a whole ass mom. I don’t know what aged you up like that.”

Azami scratched at his head, also thinking about it. “Trauma?”

“Maybe?”

They both looked to Omi, who just shrugged in response.

“I mean, yeah, probably,” he agreed.

Mystery solved, Banri was more than ready to go back to the subject at hand.

“I wanna see!” Taichi made grabby hands towards the phone still in Omi’s hands. Omi tossed it to him, and Taichi, only fumbling a little, made a triumphant noise when he caught it. His eyes flew wide when he pulled up the screenshot of Kazunari’s post.

“She’s cute!” Taichi announced in a shocked voice.

“It’s insane!” The beginning of a tension headache was starting to form. Banri rubbed viciously at his temples, as if trying to drill into his skull and rip the migraine out of his head.

Taichi wasn’t helping as he cried out in jealousy. “No fair! I want to talk to a girl who’s that cute!”

“She’s not that cute,” Banri mumbled.

“Yes, she is!” Taichi insisted. “Azami, what do you think?”

Azami yelped as Banri’s phone was shoved in his face. Reluctantly, he took a quick peak. “She has nice skin. It looks smooth and healthy. I think she needs a lighter moisturizer though. Juza better be wearing sunscreen out there.”

“See, even Azami said she was a total babe!” Taichi said, triumphantly.

“I didn’t say that!” Azami sputtered out.

“When did she become a babe?” Banri complained. “What happened to cute?”

With a serious expression, Taichi placed a hand on Banri’s shoulder. “Bro, you can be cute and a babe at the same time. Girls are versatile like that.”

He put a little too much force in slapping Taichi’s hand away. “Shut up. Anybody would look cute next to Hyodo’s busted up mug.”

Omi hummed in thought. “Do you think you might be a bit jealous, Banri?”

“Huh?” It was a ridiculous assumption, so ridiculous that it left Banri devoid of words and with his mouth hanging open in shock.

Jealous? Jealous of what? That Hyodo could talk to some girl that wasn’t even that cute?

Okay, maybe she was a bit cute in a tomboy-ish way, but “babe” was still going too far! She was just some girl. One with nice skin and a pretty smile who happened to be talking to Juza.

There was no reason for Banri to be jealous because Banri was perfectly capable of walking outside and finding a girl twice as attractive to chat up. There was nothing special about getting lucky that a chick could stand his presence for long enough to engage in what was probably a dry and awkward conversation.

“Banny? You in there?” Taichi’s voice broke through like a lighthouse through fog, snapping Banri out of his thoughts as he waved a hand in front of his face.

“Why would I be jealous of Hyodo?” Banri finally spit out. “I can pull girls way hotter than that.”

Omi chuckled awkwardly and turned away. “Not exactly what I meant, but sure.”

“It’s just a surprise is all! Since when did Hyodo talk to girls? Forreal, when has anybody ever seen him talk to any girl?”

“He talks to The Director!” Omi said.

“Yeah, and I’m pretty sure he hasn’t figured out that The Director’s a girl.”

And in a show of impeccable timing, that was the exact moment Izumi decided to enter the practice room with Sakyo trailing behind her.

“Come again?” Izumi asked.

“What the hell are any of you talking about?” Sakyo’s voice was practically a snarl.

“No, really. Come again?” Izumi repeated herself, a smile on her face as she cocked her head in a questioning manner.

Deciding that Sakyo was the less frightening of the two options to deal with, Banri held his phone up as he called out to him. “Furuichi! Hyodo’s being a whore on Instablam!”

A fascinating mixture of exhaustion, anger, regret, and even more exhaustion colored Sakyo’s expression. Knowing he didn’t want to hear an answer, but aware that there was no way to avoid it, Sakyo asked, “What?”

Omi tried to reign the conversation in as a voice of reason. “Banri’s just a bit worked up is all.” And then, in a stage-whisper that was completely useless, he said, “He’s jealous that Juza’s talking to a cute girl.”

“I’m not fucking jealous and she’s not fucking cute!” Banri yelled at a reasonable volume considering the circumstances.

“Christ on a fucking cracker,” Sakyo had reached the limits of his patience. “Everybody shut the hell up! Practice begins NOW!”

The small group of actors broke up, taking their cue to start setting up for practice, something they should’ve done fifteen minutes earlier.

“She is cute though! Director, you should see!” Taichi said as he tried to carry too many chairs at once to clear the floor.

“Banri’s just being mean,” Omi agreed as he took the majority of the chairs out from Taichi’s arm who had begun to tilt dangerously.

“No, this whole thing is just bullshit is all,” Banri argued. “That has to look bad for the company, right? Isn’t he supposed to be acting, not slutting it up in the woods.”

“What?” Izumi asked. “What does any of that even mean, Banri!”

Banri handed her his phone, pouting as he saw Sakyo take a half-interested peek over her shoulder.

“Aw, he’s making friends!” Izumi said with not even a hint of slutshaming.

“How is that allowed?” Banri asked. “And since when did he talk to girls? Come on, I can’t be the only one stumped by that!”

The others in the room made some vague mumbling noises.

“I mean, did he lie though?” Azami said.

“He’s allowed to make friends. That’s what camp is for! Do you think girls and boys can’t be friends, Banri?” Izumi’s voice was tactfully disappointed.

“Don’t try to trap me, I took a Women's Studies course last semester,” he said while crossing his arms. “I know chicks and dudes can hang, or whatever.”

“I–Chicks? Seriously, Banri?”

Banri blinked in confusion. “What? It’s not like I said bitc–”

Before he could finish his sentence, Sakyo smacked him in the back of the head. Hard.

“Watch yourself,” Sakyo warned him. He sighed as he watched Banri rub at the sore spot pouting. “What would you even want me to do? Give him the birds and the bees speech?”

Banri balked at the suggestion. “Gross… I can’t even imagine what that’d be like.”

“What?” Sakyo asked. “Do you need it explained too, Settsu?”

“It’s awful,” Azami spoke with blank eyes that had seen horror. “Don’t do it. Save yourself.”

“Juza and lady sitting in a tree,” Taichi sang out. “K-I-S-I-N-G!”

“Shut up!” Azami shoved at Taichi with a bright red blush. “That’s disgusting!”

“Agreed,” Sakyo said with an affirmative nod.

Omi mouthed the letters while ticking them off on his fingers, “I think you may have missed a letter, Taichi. There should be two S’s,”

“Huh? Are you sure? K-I-S-Ohhh!” The world’s smallest lightbulb sputtered on above his head.

“No, it’s S, Taichi. S,” Omi tried to correct him. “K-I-S-S-I-N-G.”

“Yeah, I got that!” Taichi said. “Juza and lady sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-”

“No!” Azami yelled.

“Huh?” Omi said while furrowing his eyebrows. “It’s definitely two S’s. K-I-S-”

“Stop talking about kissing!” Azami begged. He covered his ears, sinking to the floor in a horrified teenaged ball.

Meanwhile, Banri stood off to the side. Tired. Defeated. “Izumi?” he called for The Director weakly.

“Yes?” she asked with concern in her voice.

“I think I’m in hell.” He could barely speak above a hoarse whisper.

Izumi patted him on the back, gentle and caring. “It’ll be okay, Banri. Although we will need to circle back to that ‘bitches’ thing later, kay?”

The chonis are so annoying, they trash varchie, slutshamed both V and Arch. And yet they still think they are very popular among the fandom?

I understand their frustration. I really, really do. I sympathize and I do recognize that there is a problem. At first, I just thought they should be patient since I thought they would’ve been thrown a bone by now, but nope. And I do think that’s shitty; It’s SO shitty. I would be PISSED too.

HOWEVER – There is talking about representation and trying to fight the problem, and then there is lashing out and just being … um, assholes. I don’t understand the need to insult a ship that doesn’t interfere with theirs at all. I want to gif Choni more often, I want to make content (i posted one today), but the fact that their fandom is in the state that it is turns me off. And its not about the characters themselves, its about the fandom behind it.

I’ve been in this fandom since the beginning and if we want to compare screen time (as in how much time these two characters are together on screen), varchie aint leading that race. Sorry not sorry. They get anywhere from one to three scenes. So they aren’t ‘hogging up’ the screen time, so that argument is debunked. If that was the case, their anger would be directed at a different ship (if you know what i mean). they are throwing varchie under the bus cuz varchie FUCK. they have sex. they are affectionate. that’s why they throw varchie under the bus. The bughead fandom did the same fucking thing back in the day. And whether people like to admit it or not, it all comes down to envy.

And again, before someone misinterprets and yells at me, I think there is a problem. Choni isn’t getting their fair share of development, I agree 100%. They should have gotten something by now but they barely get scraps and I would be pissed too. Vanessa said it herself, people are more wary about lgbt couples. And people should acknowledge this problem that occurs to representation — but i dont see what insulting another section of the fandom is accomplishing soo….yeah.

**also i have choni mutuals who are lovely and are talking about representation on social media and are fighting for choni. *miraculously* they don’t need to insult varchie to do that. shocker, i know

I've seen a lot of people be accused of saying that he raped her when they actually said "I don't think that's romantic" "it doesn't sound healthy to me" or "yikes he was in his 30's having sexual with a teenager" (while acknowledging it was legal). You guys can do what you want and I’m not gonna harass you for it. But I’ve seen people who don’t like it + say so be harassed too. Not liking or romanticizing the actual sexual relationship doesn’t mean you can’t be interested in the friendship as they got older or curious abt how they made sense of their relationship or even like the pics of them together. Carrisons don’t have a monopoly on liking HF + Carrie together (as friends), they just do it in a certain way not everyone is on board with

She really said he sexually assualted Carrie, but this person also posted Carrison shit on their blog and im not talking about the post affair, im talking about pictures that were probably taken at the time and GUSHING when news of the relationship broke, so I cannot in good conscience take her seriously. HOWEVER just as I understand the problematic aspects of Darkpilot and Damerey but ship it being ready to call out the aspects of it, I understand having an affair with Carrie who was young at the time can to the eye something cringe worthy. I personally like to ship Carrison in an happy universe where Harrison just got divorced during ANH and then they started this Bogart and Bacall thing and by the 2016 shitshow happened they had been married 40 years, but people can ship them how the fuck they want even if I dont agree with it. Back to relationship I believe at 19 years old we have the right to make our own decisions on who touches them and who they want to sleep with, and Carrie as it seemed was FULLY aware of what she was doing, and apparently I dont know if it was confirmed SHE was the one who broke it off when it became clear he wasn’t going to put a ring on it like Bogart did to Bacall. It had been clear in the Princess Diaries from the beginning that she did have a crush and want to fuck Harrison Ford.

I personally believe as I write this the reason why they don’t want to put any blame onto Carrie for it is because the tendency of people to Slutshame the woman which is also pretty understandable. I do not slutshame Carrie at all. At 19 years old I was willing to fuck Joe Flanigan who was 42 at the time and was also married with three kids.

Anyway I am critical of extreme anti Carrison retoric because, I believe Carrie words above all else. I dont think Carrie looked at her love for Harrison as a horrible thing. She made it clear she wasn’t ashamed of it, Carrie is [and I say IS cause shes immortal] an openly honest person. She would have straight out said it and I feel like these people are twisting words into a woman’s mouth who obviously wasn’t subtle about how she felt about Harrison, I mean the woman would retweet pics of Harrison himself and Carrison theories on her timeline. This was a woman who honestly showed she was in control of what she wanted.

And Harrison was also pretty classy about it as well. If Harrison was the demon they say he is then why did he respectfully not talk about the Affair out of respect for Carrie while Mark [who I love no matter what but like all humans he made mistakes] gushed about making out with her and straight up admitted he had a crush on her?

So yeah before I ramble anymore about this [seriously I should start my own blog after this] I am not against the idea of hating on Carrison, you have every right to hate Carrison just as I have every right to hate R/eylo and D/arkpilot or B/enwood or what ever name of that relationship Melissa has with that Mon Hell actor. I am against the idea of going against the truth because you don’t like the mentality of the shippers you know what I am saying.

Btw this has nothing to do with the topic but after the bitchy anons I got telling me I was annoying, a bitch, and racist, I want to thank you for being firm on your opinion but not being a total douchebag and being polite and kind about it! I These are the anons I perfer X3/
