you would not believe the job listings indeed.com is recommending to me. for $14 an hour....
#assistant manager of the bougie overpriced garden center#they want an outgoing people person who can think on their feet solve problems be likeable and manage disputes between workers.....for $14#be likeable is literally in the job listing 🤣#also a bunch of other stuff that sounds like a hassle. for $14.....#mcdonalds pays more than that be serious 😭#for $14 i will water plants i will not make management decisions and solve problems and mediate interpersonal conflicts AND be likeable#and drive into the city on top of that#but i do suspect that the job i applied for at their greenhouse 3 min from me does not exist and they will call back and offer me this one#and i rlly dont want to be turning down jobs#like i would take 14 an hour and the annoying job if i cant find anything better but the commute on top of that ugh#i kind of expected them to offer 14 for the job i actually want but its not a management job so i get that#but literally this job only requires high school or ged and i went to school for this so i would like to be paid more at least#anyway. my dad literally told me to ask for $20 an hour when i applied#he thinks they will offer the actual job i want for $17 but i am. doubtful lol#anyway i dont want to do the evil retail job i want to actually grow the plants in the greenhouse with my silly little degree#i would do it for less than $14 as long as be likeable isn't in the literal job description#anyway job searching is so bad#i found the garden center assistant manager position by searching indeed.com the most functional website for florist jobs#and it was the only result#but i wanted florist jobs at local grocery stores bc that actually is a not terrible job that pays all right if u can find it#not quite in my immediate field but i am qualified for it i have a floral design certificate and everything#but alas#looks like none of the grocery stores are hiring#this has been a shitpost#all the other garden center jobs are offering $16-22 but in a town i dont want to drive to lol#and im not in the middle of nowhere or anything#its a small town but it's right next to two of the biggest cities in the state#and the $14 an hour job is in one of those cities

its so silly but i just keep thinking abt being in norway and seeing for the first time kinda ever that like governments can do things to make peoples life better. for no other reason but just to improve things. like im sure norway has lots of problems i didnt see on a trip but i cannot stress how insane it was that the government had done things because it would be nice. to take care of people. ?????

Ok fuck it you know something I've never really quite understood about part of the Leftist vs Liberals debate on voting.
So so so many people act like its either-or. Like you're either dedicating your entire life to voting and promoting politicians and phone banking or whatever, or you're a True Rebel waiting for The Uprising to Come and Solve Everything.
But like. In my experience. Me voting is just me kinda go 'which person seems kinda good? Which one at least sucks the least? ok lemme go vote.' and then its anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour tops of my life. And I still have plenty of time to do Stuff and participate in Conversations about Other Important Things. And also you can admit and acknowledge and understand that the system As Is kinda sorta really sucks ass, but also still admit and acknowledge and understand that at this current point in time we are still living in the suckass system and do something to alleviate the suckass At Least A Little while also working to bolster/create/advocate for Other Systems.
I guess just like. it's not a black or white thing. Between 'top 500 volunteers for a specific politician/voting office/etc' and 'absolutely positively not voting at all' there is a gray area called 'vote and then just do other stuff'.

People will ask "why did lestat buy the Fairplay for louis? Does show!Louis not have his own money" as if 1: either Tom Anderson or the other one would sell it to him outright (they literally gave him horrific terms for a business deal in ep 1 because they wanted to take him down a peg) or 2: Lestat doesnt explicitly love spending money on Louis and what he wants

Vacay In The Outlands
Tumblr media
The start of Grandpa's vacation in the Outlands. (Just for the record, she hates this dress. I made her wear it though.) It took many attempts to traverse the fence to get on top of the checkpoint, fell off a bunch of times but we finally made it across the border.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Travel tip - Make sure you have plenty of eddies! Vehicle insurance is ridiculous out here!
Tumblr media
After the border checkpoint, we arrived at Langley in style and all V got as a souvenir was posing with this stupid giant coin.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Turns out that metaphorical void I kept talking about in my fic is actually real! Right underneath NC, who knew? Wonder where it goes. Wonder if it'll eventually just consume Night City.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Made it to the very scenic town of Yucca (where you start out as a nomad). Construction standards in this place are even worse than in the city.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grandpa went skinny dipping in Star Lake and Laguna Bend Reservoir. Refreshing but bring your decontamination gear. Got some really nice candid photos at Star Lake.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Saw many strange and alien sights in the Outlands. The work of aliens? Or perhaps the technonecromancers? Perhaps tyromancers with computers?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Climbed the crane across the canyon and got a bird's eye view where they filmed Hell Lake 3. After enjoying the view it was time to head out though.
Tumblr media
Said farewell to an old friend along the way.
Tumblr media
The fortress Grandpa stumbled across was not conquerable. She tried. The wall was too high to parkour over, even with a makeshift step stool.
Tumblr media
Is that how baby trucks are made???
Tumblr media
Grandpa trekked far and wide across the map and eventually made it to the Oil Fields.
Tumblr media
Also found out why the area has a million EPA violations.
Tumblr media
Grandpa took a moment to enjoy the view at the end of the road and the last peaceful moments of her weird vacation.
Tumblr media
Back to Night City! (To find some AC and change out of that stupid pink dress.)

I'm rereading the aliens arc and I think the funniest detail about reigen's driving inexperience is that he hasn't driven in ten years. he's 28. the legal driving age in japan is 18. which means he got his license, and then proceeded to never use it

#OH BOY#so i finally called grandma and told her i lost my job#i have been putting this off bc of the shame and once you tell one member of my italian side the entIRE FAMILY knows#But she managed to hit me back with even worse news#A family member has bone cancer and it sounds bad#Like my grandma callyerdogs off started refusing food at the very end of the cancer#And it sounds like he's starting to do that#Everybody is spending entire days in the hospital it sounds very much like with what was happening with grandpa#i dont want to go into details#Anyway on top of this my childhood bff is getting married in atlanta at the end of august#So i was going to visit grandma at the same time#And now she's being like no no no theres no need to come and im like GRANDMA PLEASE lol ;_;#And by lol i mean just for once could my family not be so fucking stubbornly self reliant im crying and begging over here#The tentative plan is to fly to pittsburgh after atlanta instead and stay with my dance buddy#and then i can be like look grandma im already here its a four hour drive i will see you in four hours#and stay for as long as they let me and then fly back from the burgh#But needless to say this is all a mess and i need to make actual plans SOON#:(#Im looking up flights the cheapest way would be to book a round trip ticket LA to atlanta and then a round trip atlanta to the burgh#Is this a bad idea? Does anyone else have experience doing this? Like for an extra 500$ i could do a three city ticket but that seems silly#I guess the problem would be if a flight got canceled or delayed but if i get travelers insurance for the flights#thats probably still less than the 500+ extra it would cost to do a three city trip#The other option is driving from georgia to the burgh which ive done once when going to florida with chezzy and family#So i know its a 13ish? Hour drive but i also know i can do it lol#I think the gas + car rental would cost more than the flight tbh#But i also love road trips
