Derry Girls AU where Paddy has pretended to be converted after his longstanding friendship with Aaron and his family is actually hilarious. I mean, with the more laissez-faire approach the show has to things like homophobia, I think it can also work in an AU that Paddy lives on the catholic sides, with the cath kids, known as a Presbyterian and everyone always sideeyes him and other trouble ensues.
But making him a shitty fake-catholic is even fucking better, especially when he has more of Joe's temper than his own.

soooo as you might've noticed I've watched ep 5 and 6 of hazbin hotel and i'm
SO HYPED ABOUT IT
and I have so much to say so I should do it here, obviously
with spoilers, obviously
Tumblr media
I just adore lucifer and his relationship with charlie and the way they are getting closer during the episode and how charlie is literally dad's daughter and their song is absolutely adorable
alastor and lucifer's duo is iconic as hell(haha)
Tumblr media
AND of course this little fun fact of alastor also being on someone's leash that's great and I love how there are more and more mysteries coming out
despite the fact that alastor's confrontation with lucifer about charlie's father figure is most likely manipulation from alastor I hope we see more, you know, human qualities of alastor and learn more about him
I mean we've got this man swore so I don't think it's a big deal now
and also we now know these are the ears, clap clap
Tumblr media
despite my sympathy for alastor though... PLEASE NOT HUSK damn alastor got him shaking, poor cat man:(
i love how after ep4 huskerdust are doing this little things like sharing popcorn and giving each other soft looks and stuff that's really good for them and I'm glad they're taking this slow
Tumblr media
AND EP 6 OMG
let's just say I'm happy to see that neither all demons or all angels are dicks
and YASSS I adore character development and the way hotel's crew become a family for each other
like the way they try to protect each other in ep5 during the attack or them just having nice time together, you know
also I loved this tiny detail that now, in ep6 angel now is able to openly tell about how hard was his day and have a rest not being afraid of looking weak/not always sexy as fuck AND omg these scene in a club where angel stands up against valen(pls die)tino and calls hotel's crew his friends got me emotional. boy made big progress
and as huskerdust fan I can't help but love the way husker helps angel make right delicious and supports him (these bitches gay, good for them)
Tumblr media
i'm excited about feb 2 and upcoming episodes

30 Charlie headcanons
Tumblr media
———————————————————
[Disclaimer!!]
I know Chaggie is canon but for the sakes of this post Charlie will be single. [Im a passionate chaggie shipper pls don’t kill me]
This post will contain: NSFW,Sfw, Fluff, Smut
It's also Genderless for the girls, gays and theys! You're a new resident at the Hotel in this scenario.
———————————————————
Let’s begin!
Her favorite nicknames for you are “Sunshine” and “Pumpkin”. And everything sweet in general.
She makes you breakfast every morning and gets excited when you do the same.
Loves morning cuddles. She’d stay in bed just enjoying the embrace and warmth of your body.
Would not really understand your interests but enjoys seeing you being happy. So she will engage and learn about your interests and hobbies. “So you’re into that? Sounds interesting, Sunshine!”
She is definitely an early sleeper. She wants to get the most out of a day as possible.
Listens to 2017 white girl music on a daily basis and you guys vibe all the time.
After she got to meet Rosie she always went to her for advice or help in general.
She gets very flustered and ashamed when people as about her sexual life and declines to talk about it openly.
She likes PDA a lot though. Showing off her perfect partner with kisses and hand holding? Fuck yeah!
She definitely confessed her love to you first. She gave you flowers and a love letter wich read “Please be mine and go on a date with me!”. With an adorable doodle next to it.
She’s more of a dog person but loves KeeKee with her whole heart.
She’s is surprisingly dominant in bed. She pins you down aggressively but afterwards asks you if you are okay with it.
She is very flexible so there are many poses you guys could try out.
She enjoys oral a bit more than anything else. Seeing you shutter under her control makes her feel very reassured.
She definitely goes into her demon form when she’s close. Her tail wrapping around her waist trying to keep her composer.
Great at aftercare. She makes sure you feel reassured and comfortable once you’re finished. Cuddles and kisses are a must.
“Are you comfortable pumpkin? Would you like a towel?” And also whispering reassurance to you is important. “You did great by the way… you look so cute!”. A total sweetheart.
She is great with all sorts of people. Even the ones who are really disrespectful to her. So sometimes you keep those people in place.
Won’t curse until she needs to. She isn’t really going hard on the curses when she does curse. A simple “Fuck you” or “Motherfucker” is enough for her.
She absolutely adores kids. She also wants at least two in the future.
Gets shy easily. When you compliment her hair or her big round eyes she gets flustered right away.
In her emo phase she definitely said “ITS NOT A PHASE!” and now she looks back on it and laughs every time.
Hopes she will see Emily again one day. They definitely had a great time together.
If you’re not able to sleep at night she’s singing you to sleep. With your head on her lap and her playing with your hair.
LOVED the Barbie movie and rewatched it twice. And cried at the ending.
She is an hardworking woman so she’s encouraging you to help her out a lot. Trying to make you feel included!
When she gets overwhelmed she locks herself in her room and cries herself to sleep.
“Hey Charlie…? Are you okay…?” You asked knowing she’s feeling down. “Y-yeah! I’m fine pumpkin… don’t worry!!” “You don’t have to pretend my love…”
She sighed as she opened her door. You see her puffed up eyes so you open your arms wide. “Come here…” she hugs you deeply. “Thank you…”
You kiss her forehead as she embraces the hug. “No need to thank me sweetheart.”
———————————————————
Yes I know no one asked for this but I love Charlie so you gotta listen to me rant about her. Give my girly more love and attention! So as always I’d love to get some requests for characters, I’ll try to do all of them but there’s so many! Thanks for reading my dear friends and have a lovely day/night!

I’ve talked about this before, but whenever people talk about heartstopper in regards to byler, and I can’t speak for everyone, but I think it has much less to do with the show itself and more to do with the attitudes surrounding heartstopper and how they view it in relation to other queer media.
I like heartstopper! I think it’s a cute show and I’m gonna watch season 2. But after the first season came out, I remember seeing tweets praising the show for creating a “wholesome” depiction of gay love that didn’t rely on sex and was very sweet, and thus placing it above it’s contemporaries which may be seen as more “gritty” and “depraved.”
And yes, a show about teenagers with very young actors doesn’t have to have sex in it and probably shouldn’t, and I don’t think it’s wierd for tweenage queers to find comfort in a show that isn’t centered around sex, but the problems with claiming that a show like heartstopper is better than other queer media because it is “wholesome” becomes a slippery slope of demonizing queer representation and media that does not fit into the happy and clean box that heartstopper does.
Sometimes when discussing byler, there seems to be a dissonance between how people want byler to be represented and what the show actually is. There seems to be a failure to consider that A) ST and heartstopper take place in different time periods and in different parts of the world and B) ST is a sci-fi/horror genre show while heartstopper is written as a romantic comedy with the romance plot being the central plot.
Which isn’t to say that romance and relationships isn’t still important to the show, but I’ve sometimes seen it expressed that there would be dissapointment if byler didn’t get together right away without much drama and/or didn’t get to have happy established couple moments that they are used to seeing with Nick and Charlie. They don’t seem open to the idea of a smoldering slow-burn with romance and sexuality interlinked with dark supernatural elements because they don’t see that as adequate of a portrayal of queerness as what heartstopper presents.
On top of and relating to that, there also seems to be a general lack of understanding that being gay in the 80s is different than being gay in the 2020s. There’s some overlap in experiences, but there is also seems to be a demand from fans that both Mike and Will be out and proud and express themselves openly and that the entire town know about their relationship in order to find byler satisfactory, which is not only unrealistic but also unsympathetic to the queer experience at that point in time.
Which isn’t to say that heartstopper doesn’t and shouldn’t have a place among contemporary queer media, but instead queer media should be diversified and shouldn’t have to worry about appealing to the exact same audience as heartstopper. There should be queer rep existing across different genres being presented in different ways without any one of them being considered the “correct” way.
So, all in all, I’m glad that heartstopper exists and it has it’s place in queer media. But byler has its own place too without having to be just like it.

Okay sorry I was talking with my mother
1) I hate sir Pentious’s new character. Sure, he’s fun. But oh my gosh, I miss his old character. The way that’s he’s not at all remorseful and just purely wants destruction and to rule over the pentagram city. But now he’s too goody goody(I haven’t seen the new episode, pls don’t spoil it), and turned WAYYYY to easily over to Charlie’s anti-Christ ass, and wanting to be redeemed. He should have stayed a spy for longer and I would’ve loved to see his dynamic grow with the Vees(especially Vox) and how he worked for them as a spy. His rape scene wasp so uncomfortable and unnecessary, and speaking of that his and cherris relationship should of never of even been thought about. It’s such an awkward thing, as they’re rivals and Cherri has destroyed things that he’s made and insults him.
2) speaking of Cherri, she offered Angel drugs(which seems like it’s a normal thing for them as she’s so causal about it) when she knew he was there at the hotel that’s for redemption, but also she was so rude to Angel when he was trying to get Nifty out of the cleaning closet??? She’s a much better friend in the pilot and in the addict music video. She’s showing actual friendship and concern for Angel, nothing like she does now.
3) Alastor. Sure, I like his moments, but he’s so painfully edgy it’s not that good. His radio sound effects are good, I miss the old effects that he had in the pilot and his old voice actor, but of course viv is a “it’s my way or the high-way” gal and she dumped all of the previous cast. He’s nearly completely different now, claiming that Charlie is like his daughter(I swear to god he better be manipulative to her in that moment), when in the pilot he openly mocked her and what she was trying to do. He seems way to open about his emotions and wanting r help Charlie, using a TV(???) and playing along when what she wants to do. He also seems to much like an attention whore, which could be a good character trait if he wasn’t the way he is now. Also he’s too touchy touchy with everyone, especially Charlie.
4) Angel dust is not as interesting now as he was to me in the pilot. Now he’s just a porn star who gets raped and abused and is going to be redeemed. I’d love to see his old character traits(from before the pilot and during, such as mafia, insane, violent, ect), rather than just “oh he’s a gay sex spider who sometimes does violence but he’s such a good person now for finding love and refusing drugs!!!! :3”.
5) Husk’s new voice. I see the appeal of his new one, but his old voice actor just hit different. Make that skinny 1970s gambler man sound like he smokes 5 packs a day. Also I can’t stop thinking about the cat from Coraline.
6) almost everything about vaggie. Her design, her actions, and her backstory. It’s cool that she’s a fallen Angel but oh my gosh!! Don’t reveal that in the first season!! Slow burn that shit!! And why did she do quickly realize that he’s murdering ‘innocent souls’?? They’re in hell for a reason, she didn’t have to think that just because it was a kid it was innocent of any crimes it did. They revealed it too soon, it would have been a good twist for season 2.
7) vivziepop seemingly mocks Christianity and I had to look up how Saint Peter looked like, AND SHE WHITE-WASHED HIM SO BAD. HE LOOKS NOTHING LIKE HE SHOULD, AND HES SUCH A COMPLEX PEROSN FROM THE BIBLE AND AND SHORTENED HIS CHARACTER SO BADLY.
Anyways, my TED talk is over. Thank you
Thanks for your TED Talk, Anon. It was an excellent talk.

In hazbin hotel, being Gay has no bearings on going to Hell or Heaven (the "vile and blasphemous" line was because Charlie is Lucifer's daughter) , so I don't think Vaggie would feel too weird about being attracted to women, especially once more openly gay, Trans etc people arrive.
For the first century and some of her life? Sure.
But I think she would be accepting of it in the last 80-90 years of her time in heaven, especially since the Sisterhood of the Exorcists is promoting a very violent mindset and killing sinners in secrets, it leave little room for interactions outside of the group, cue experimentations.
Also, considering how Agatha annoyed Lute for not being "proper" regarding the "out of wedlock baby" and single mom status, I think it would fuel her desire to accept Vaggie's gayness.
I can even see Lute appreciate how it can make Vaggie feel more like a part of the group on the more pragmatic side, or at least use it as an argument for people who are bothering her on it and that she won't just ignore or scare into silence.
I never really thought about that, but you do have a point. I think a lot of people assume Lute is homophobic (and maybe she is) because of her line about Charlie and Vaggie's relationship, and well as one of the comments about Angel in her solo during "You Didn't Know" but you could argue that, like you pointed out, her issue with Charlie and Vaggie dating could be more based on Charlie's status as a demon/Lucifer's daughter than them both being women. And the thing with Angel could just be a commentary on him being so willing to have what is implied to be casual sex in general, regardless of the gender of his partners. Obviously those are still not good views to have, but they are possibly alternatives.
I do think that Vaggie would still struggle a bit for a while, though part of it would be her just kind of making the wrong assumptions regarding why her mother was essentially judged behind her back? At least when she was young. Because she heard occasional whispers (and the one time she asked about her grandmother and why she'd never met her, Lute did explain that Agatha didn't like the fact that Lute wasn't married to Vaggie's father) where people would say pretty insulting things about her mother when Lute herself wasn't there to hear, regarding the fact that she wasn't even in an official relationship with, much less married to, Vaggie's father. And young Vaggie initially made the wrong assumption that the issue was more about the fact that her mother wasn't in relationship with a man, period, rather than the truth, which is that the issue was that Lute was an unwed single mother by choice.
But Vaggie did likely figure it out more as she got older and especially after officially joining the Exorcists....at least in part due to the reasons you pointed out. With how secretive the Exorcists are supposed to be, while it's probably not impossible that some of them have partners outside of the group who just are told cover stories for what they do for work and/or what they're doing when they're gone during Extermination Day, a lot of them likely just have relationships among each other to avoid any of that. And in my AU at least, while Charlie was Vaggie's first serious girlfriend, I will say her first kind of trying out a relationship with anyone was likely with another Exorcists, probably one who joined around the same time she did. She likely did still feel weird about it for a while, and didn't fully realize she was a lesbian until a fair bit later.
Lute likely was more accepting of Vaggie's sexuality than some might expect, partially out of spite regarding how hurt she was at how her own parents, especially her mother, who she had been very close to before Vaggie was born, basically cut her out of their lives for her decision to raise Vaggie on her own. So while she obviously couldn't be as accepting as she wanted to tell herself she would be - she does still find the relationship between Vaggie and Charlie shameful, sadly - she is fully accepting of her daughter being gay. Also helps that I might actually headcanon Lute as not actually being straight, but rather gray-ace or demi - she's pretty much only interested in Adam in regards to sex or romance (though the romance part even she's in denial about).

This shit with Kit Connor is bringing me back to the Love, Simon days, and I just gotta rant. Like first off, yeah the movie has some problems that didn’t really exist in the books, but so many people downplay the significance of that movie hitting the theaters. I’ll say, for myself, I was 18 and had just come out to my closest friends as bi a year before. It was genuinely the first romcom happy queer movie I had ever seen. I went home and cried my eyes out. And then I got online, and all I saw was people shitting all over it—calling the author of the book series, Becky Albertalli, a fetishist and saying the movie was “for the straights” because “all the actors were straight”.
Becky Albertalli was forced to come out as bisexual to defend herself. And then, what do you know? Like half the cast came out as queer in some compacity in the next few years following its release. It’s almost like they were literally barely out of their teenage years and were still figuring themselves out, or not ready to open up yet. Hell—Nick Robinson’s brother, who’s not that much younger than him, only came out to Nick as the movie was filming. Also one of the actors even stated that most of the production crew openly identified as queer, and the director was an openly gay man. But apparently that means fuck all, and these young actors should have their personal lives ripped into and either be called queerbaiters or be forced to out themselves.
For all the shit talking people did of Love, Simon to prop themselves up as some saviors to the purity of queer media, all they did was recreate the plot. A bunch of fucking Martins outing Simon. And of course it’s all happening again with the Heartstopper cast. They’re even younger too, which really breaks my heart. Coming out is never easy, but the fact that people are demanding it on a global stage from a bunch of teenagers? A bunch of teenagers on a show that stars Charlie, a kid who was forcibly outed? Talk about consuming media with zero critical thoughts.
And I know that these people never learn their lesson. I can only imagine the reaction from the general audience of Stranger Things next season with Mike and Will. The hate for Will’s character started immediately following the season, and Noah had to navigate all these questions about queerbaiting when the show isn’t even over. And I can only imagine what it’s going to be like for the actors following season five. Which, again, is ridiculous, because they don’t owe anyone an explanation.
Anyway, Simon said it best, “I'm supposed to be the one that decides when and how and who knows, and how I get to say it. That's supposed to be my thing, but you took it away from me.”

Had Bella been openly bisexual from the start, how would this change things?
Thoughts on Bella's sexuality.
Well, it'd either change everything or nothing.
Everything
Canon never happens. Bella, being an open bisexual, is contemplating moving to a deep red county to go to an insanely small town where she's already the police chief's runaway bride.
Now she's the flaming gay runaway bride's daughter at a school where there's definitely no LGBQT+ community and the only thing they know about gay people is that Elton John exists somewhere in Britain.
While Bella loves Renee and really really really didn't want to go to Forks in canon but sacrificed her happiness for her mother, this could be the argument to have Bella say "no thank you, hick town" and feel terrible about her mother being miserable but, well, she really hates Forks.
Nothing
Two options to this, one, Bella steps back into the closet. It's 2005, she's in a town she hates, she already thinks these people are going to give her endless shit about Renee and Charlie having gotten divorced ages ago, I can easily see her deciding that no one needs to know because there's not any hot people in Forks anyway so she won't be dating anyone.
Joke's on her when the entire Cullen family is divinely hot, but it works out when she ends up dating one of the really hot ones, Edward, who is also the only single one and is also a man so nobody needs to know.
The other option is that Bella is out and it gets a little weird with the people at Forks as not only is Bella from Phoenix (!!!) but she's also gay (specifically, I imagine especially back then in Forks, I imagine bisexual would throw people for a loop as Mike wonders if this means he has a chance or not because Bella likes the ladies but...s he's also into dudes, right? Right?) Bella's even more contemptuous of her human peers than in canon, but since she didn't like them much in canon anyway, it's not a big change.
As for Edward, he doesn't really care what Bella thinks, and would think this is part of what makes her wonderfully unique compared to the other girls. He also seems like the type who'd be proud to show how progressive he is in accepting Bella's sexuality. So long as she's interested in him, canon proceeds unchanged except Edward might get even weirder about Rosalie as, "No, Bella, she's not hot. She is a vain shrew who is ugly on the inside" and briefly acknowledges the wonderful human future Bella could have without him might not involve marrying a dude (except that he's very much picturing her running off with Jacob and having a thousand babies).

That last post was just me frustrated by tumblr discourse after reading a review for the next season of IASIP. It implied the queerness of the later seasons came out of nowhere, something that got under my skin bad enough to turn me into Charlie on his conspiracy theorist kick.
Putting aside how often the show uses Mac and Dennis to parody the Will They, Won't They dynamic of main love interests in sitcoms, or how clearly "I AM NOT ALLOWED" still rings in my ears, and focusing instead on the canon of Mac being gay. He says, "I love you" to Dennis in season 3. Dennis theorises out loud that Mac is gay and in love with him (and Charlie) in season 4. Mac has a visible crush on a male celebrity in season 5. He is told by Carmen that he is gay and using his past relationship with her to not deal with his confusion in season 6. Etc, etc, etc.
I don't even agree that he's being played as a stereotype when he eventually does come out. I think it perfectly in character for the man who drove himself into a wall to commit to faking his death would commit 110% to being what he believes queerness entails. He'd hold on even tighter to that identity, too, when he's feeling the two most important relationships in his life slip through his fingers. Mac consistently barrels forward blindly once he's decided on something, and he's often wrong to do so (slamming himself into a wall as a result). Hence why it's also in character for him to openly be in love with Dennis as soon as he comes out. He's made the decision to be honest about who he is and what he wants and he commits to that decision. Unfortunately for him Dennis isn't there yet (and that would be the Mac slams himself into a wall moment).

I hope people don't take this as acephobic but Alastor being ace doesn't even make much sense to me? He was a serial killer in his previous life and most male serial killers were driven by misogyny and sexual sadism (moreso the latter for the gay ones). Like even his interactions with Charlie seem like he's trying to seduce her for his next kill or something. Let's not even get into the optics of making your one ace character be a mass-murdering psycho that represents the worst of cishet misogyny, it's just a weird pairing. Also his backstory kinda ruins the mistake of this random demon that was killing all the big bosses for power, and killing for power isn't exactly the motivation of most serial killers either? If they didn't have the serial killer part him being ace would work better I think, why not give that to Husk that only seems to care about booze or Cherri who's in a seemingly platonic relationship with Angel? Seems she just slapped it onto a random character based on a joke interaction. I really hope people don't take this the wrong way.
Eh, wouldn’t say Alastor was seducing Charlie, more of he was playing it safe and acting like he had no tricks up his sleeve while literally openly mocking her, but as for him being Ace, to me personally while I don’t have an issue with the concept (like as long as the show knows this dude is evil and doesn’t insinuate that ace people are bad, it’s fine in my book cause I’m all here for representation regardless if it’s a bad character or not) but my personal issue was like…it just didn’t feel like it needed to be there. Like…the only reason he’s ace is because he was described to be “obsessed with himself” and that doesn’t automatically mean you need to make a character ace. It felt like it wasn’t something Viv had planned out and only slapped that title on him at the last minute because…..why not more representation points, despite the fact that….let’s not forget the pilot itself never outright said he was ace either, which I find more suspicious.
Also I always immediately disregard the “but serial killers”- argument for Al because let’s be honest, Viv not only doesn’t do research but doesn’t think deep when creating certain characters. The only time I felt his serial killer title didn’t make sense was how he is introduced as this unapologetic evil murderer who does everything for laughs, and then suddenly has this forced moral compass about respecting those lower than him, like seriously wtf was Vivzie thinking when writing that?
Overall however, in my eyes, she wanted an edgy scary demon lord, and him being a serial killer felt more like a quick excuse to find a reason why he’s in hell, basically what I’m saying is…..Al doesn’t have that many layers to him, hence why I don’t think too much about these things, but I DO agree that someone like Husk or Cherri being ace would make more sense or just…be better, mainly Husk since he clearly isn’t looking for love and is dead inside, but we can’t have that cause Uwu Angel needs to flirt with him so—

Thank you @azfellco for explaining to me the situation
Tumblr media
Honestly, if you want my opinion? I think this whole thing is so stupid, because how is it that after all these months Kit STILL has queerbaiting allegations??
First of all, STOP. ASSUMING. KIT'S (OR ANYONE'S). SEXUALITY. PLEASE. How many more times must the poor guy say that he's comfortable with his own sexuality and just doesn't want to disclose it to the public for personal reasons for people to LEAVE HIM ALONE. Like my god, how can someone watch a show like heartstopper then immediately start contributing to this toxic culture of forcing people out of the closet for your own selfish reasons? There's literally a whole storyline of how badly affected Charlie Spring was after being outed, but that CLEARLY flew over their heads for some reason. It's ridiculous. We're not his friends. We're not his family. We. Are. Just. Fans. We are entitled to ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about his personal life.
Secondly, if for all those who are just so insistent that Kit just HAS to be straight because he held hands with someone of the opposite sex, and therefore should not be playing a queer character, do you even hear yourselves? I've already spoken in depth about my views on straight actors playing queer characters, my general message being that I think it's completely fine so long as they have been handling it respectfully and giving the community the respect it deserves, something I believe Kit has done wonderfully. But more than that, what's up with this weird assumption that someone is definitely heterosexual if they are in a heterosexual relationship??? There is more to sexuality than gay or straight. Take Maia for example. She is openly part of the LGBTQ community, so are y'all going to tell her she's straight and has been lying the whole time, simply because of that few second clip? I DIDN'T THINK SO. This is literally just promoting bi erasure, pan erasure, erasure of any sexuality that isn't simply attracted to the same sex (AND ON BISEXUAL VISIBILITY MONTH TOO???). Once again, how did you watch heartstopper, hear nick nelson say "I still like girls, but I like boys too." AND THEN GO AND DO THIS. I'm convinced some of these people just didn't watch the show and became fans through tiktok edits or something.
Finally, say that they are dating. So what? How does Kit and Maia's personal relationship affect Kit's job as an actor in heartstopper in any way shape or form? Were these people expecting Joe and Kit to get married or something? Or for neither of them to be in relationships with other people ever? I know that they're both the perfect portrayals of Nick and Charlie, but at the end of the day THESE ARE CHARACTERS THAT THEY ARE PLAYING. None of the relationships in shows or movies, romantic especially, need to be translated to real life for us to enjoy the work. If you're that type of person, then by that logic Kit and Maia are technically bringing on screen romance off screen, since they're starring in ACGGTTAT together. Seriously, you can't expect actors to bring every single romantic relationship they portray on screen into real life, that's entirely unrealistic. Also, while I understand the curiosity behind our faves' relationship statuses, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't guilty of that, at the end of the day it's really none of our business (going back to the point of how we are just fans and are owed nothing by public figures). If they're dating, that's great, I'm happy for them. If they're not? Also cool, we love to see a wholesome friendship. Speculate if you must, but don't go digging around the internet for evidence or god forbid, start harassing Kit or Maia about this. Just keep your theories to yourself or at most talk about it casually in a little chat with friends or something. Let's not blow this up into a huge thing and just let them be yeah?
So that's my two cents on this whole situation. Dating or not, I can't wait to see them both in ACGGTTAT, and ofc, I can't wait for season 2 of heartstopper <3

I just finished the last season of Young Royals, which I adored. Truly one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. It also… kind of made me think of something. I’m sure people have brought this up before but I’ve never really seen this take anywhere, and if you can recommend anyone who wrote about it better than I’m about to I’d be eternally grateful, because it’s something that I find truly fascinating and I’m sure I won’t be able to fully explain what I mean.
What I was thinking is that… openly queer storytelling in mainstream media has never gone through, and will never go through the kind of archetypal, sometimes naïve storytelling that straight love stories often went through up until six or seven decades ago, simply because today’s audiences do not understand archetypes and look for twists and turns that simply don’t belong in traditional cinematic fairy tales.
I recently completed a rewatch of the whole Disney canon and maybe it’s the combination of a modern fairy tale like Young Royals and the recent memory of all those Disney classics that made me really think about this, because what I mean is that something that is as archetypal (maybe naïve) in its storytelling as, say, the original 1937 Snow White has never been made and will never be made about a gay couple.
Of course we’ve had queer comedies and fairy tales. But even without bringing up something like Young Royals, which was always intended to have mature themes and adult situations, you have things like Heartstopper or Red White and Royal Blue which, while generally more lighthearted and romanticized, also don’t shy away from more or less complex psychological themes.
Which is a GOOD THING, because writing something as straightforward and rooted in archetypal tradition as Snow White would not make sense nowadays, unless it’s experimental. I’m thoroughly convinced that each era has its own distinctive storytelling requirements that make sense in the cultural context in which they were developed, even though they can still be appreciated by new generations when understood within that cultural context.
At the same time… I find it really sad that queer stories will never experience that kind of storytelling simply because when that storytelling made actual cultural sense, our stories simply were not allowed to be told.
I’m not saying that that kind of storytelling is better than what we have now, it had its problems both by an artistic and an ethical point of view, even though I think there’s a conversation to be had about how modern audiences seem not to have a grasp on the concept of archetypes and contextualization and seem not to understand that not everything needs to be analysed through the lenses of modern sensibilities.
But at the same time… straight love stories get to have that history. Gay love stories don’t. I don’t want a gay Snow White in the style of the 1937 animated movie to be made now, but I wish such a story could have been allowed to exist back when it was actually culturally relevant, so that we could also have that kind of history behind our modern stories.
I love Wille and Simon. I love Charlie and Nick. I love exploring the complications, turmoil and realistic emotions of their love stories. I wish I could have had those stories when I was a teen. But I also wish that gay people could have been allowed to believe in true love’s first kiss.

Never heard the term soft out but I actually kinda love it especially in relation to celebrities because people talk abt glass closets and I'm kinda :/ abt that because there do not be no closets sometimes people just be being gay and heteronormativity have people in chains and expecting a press release before they stop being weird and constantly joking about it. It just seems more respectful than going "hehe closets made of glass when are they gonna come out" like baby relax it's not a secret they're queer
Oh “soft out” is just such a good way to describe anyone that is clearly LGBT but doesn’t feel the need to do a big press release coming out, and it describes so many celebs of this generation, like no one doubts that Sebastian Croft and Joe Locke were (and now Bash and Charlie Besso are) in a relationship but there was never hard confirmation either but all of us have eyes, you know?
And obviously there are different levels of soft out that range from Richard Madden very obviously dating Froy Gutierrez but saying nothing about it publicly to Zane Phillips not publicly stating his sexuality but also kissing his boyfriend Froy Gutierrez in public and bringing him up unprompted in interviews, but I think it’s best to just leave the idea of Openly Gay Actors in the era of Hollywood where it was genuinely important to announce yourself that way.

hi. i feel like enough time has passed and i have separated myself from the fandom enough to make this statement. anyways here’s my super duper controversial statement.
nick and charlie are poorly written characters and they’re relationship is entirely too codependent. as a queer person (assigned male at birth) who has been interested in guys, i hate how they’re relationship is depicted. i really just have a huge issue with women writing men-loving-men relationships, i never think they do it right. and YES i am aware that alice oseman is queer/gender-queer but she is a femme-presenting/woman-aligned person who is also aroace. she has never lived that experience and i do not think that her telling of that experience is accurate. i think it’s extremely cishet-washed and honestly i feel like it’s pandering to straight people and people who are newly out, if that makes any sense. i personally feel that they’re story lacks nuance. it embodies the worst aspects of ya fiction.
firstly, my main issue i have is with charlie and how he is depicted as a queer man. i find issue with the way he is depicted; timid, awkward, clumsy, and in need of saving. i HATE that fucking trope. i hate that everyone’s idea of a gay couple is of this femboy, who was probably abused or bullied, being saved/rescued/“really-loved” by a larger, more masculine, jock.
i have personally gone through many of charlie’s experiences. i was r@ped/sa’d as a young person, i have struggled with anorexia, and i have and still do struggle with self-harm/cvtting. i have also stayed in a mental health facility! sounds familiar, right? that’s because all of that shit also happened to charlie spring. but we don’t get to see any of his healing process. we don’t see him in therapy. we don’t see his time in the hospital. all we see is how it affects nick and how nick gives him the strength to recover. blah blah blah gag me with a spoon.
anyways, having said all of this. i have read the entire updated comics, and i have seen the show. i plan on reading the final installment of the comics and watching the remainder of the series. i do think queer people need and fucking deserve more representation and more media depicting our normal domestic lives. there are so many shitty straight shows that are just pure fluff and entertainment and queer people fucking deserve that.
i also am extremely interested to see if/how alice incorporates darcy‘s actor kizzy edgall’s transmasculinity into darcy’s character. i would have a totally new respect for her to ACTUALLY WRITE a complicated subplot that is nuanced and depicts how queer people’s labels change and how their understanding of their gender and queerness grow with them. how does tara react? does she amicably break up with darcy to respect their identity? or does she come to the conclusion that, “fuck it. i love darcy. who cares if we aren’t technically in a lesbian/sapphic relationship. i am still valid.” THAT WOULD FUCKING ROCK
anyways best character is elle. hehehehehe.
sincerely,
an openly queer, semi-closeted transfeminine person. *equips sunglasses*

i'm sorry im obsessed with older shelby headcanons, like geriatric Eva being a firm Diana stan, slighting Cowmilla and just the monarchy in general.
Or just like how there family is immortalized and percieved through history. Where their company may be now. Shelby descendants dominating every industry.
A funny meta thing where a dramatization of the Shelby family origins shoots and people look at the historical figures and are like "damnnnnnnn that's a zaddy right there"
or like Eva and Thomas just not getting with the times and modern technology, "you can't just kill people like you use to these days"
I hope you enjoy 😉

Eva would be wondering why these two ladies are fighting over Charles the Turd when they could just find better men or better yet get together.
She would be at each women's weddings(and Camilla's it would be a sympathies greeting card cuz she's dead by then) be like, seriously? This guy is who you want? Take my grandson, Tom Jr, he's a much better guy, smaller ears too.
Tommy lives well into his 90s because Eva doesn't want him to die way earlier than her
He still remains a very private person and goes full cryptid once he retires from politics
Charlie grows up to be a very liberal politician with a personal feud with Margaret Thatcher, outlives her so he can piss on her grave
He's also Winston Churchill's son in law by his daughter, Mary (who contrary to irl mary Churchill doesn't become a conservative)
Has an I love my gay sister(Diane who is bi) t shirt the moment they come into the market
Diane ends up a singer-actress-buisnesswoman-philanthropist who does a little bit of everything and yet no one is really sure what she does.
Diane also lives very modestly for someone with a lot of money
Also is openly bi but no one believes her
She marries Tom Bennett from World on Fire and has two or three kids
Her eldest son, Thomas Jr, is Eva's favorite grandkid
Gabe becomes a spy/assassin and eventually marries Luca’s only daughter and pretends to be working for the company abroad when really no one knows where he is
Some speculate he died as a teenager as no records or photographs exist of him past 16
They all show up at Arrow House on every major holiday come hell or high water
Eva wrote her memoirs but marketed it as fiction
Everyone has theories about what's true and what's not
Florence marries Andrew Roberts JR (son of Billy Kimber’s accountant) who she's callee her boyfriend since they were six
Florence may or may not have had a romantic relationship with Princess Margaret on the side as both were playmates and the same age
There are several adaptations of Eva's memoirs and what little they have on The Shelbys
There are Sucession style series, documentaries and docu-series and a fuck ton of tell all books about them done the second they die (Tommy in the late 1980s and Eva in 2000 at the age of 104)
Eva is nearly always played by Salma Hayek or Penelope Cruz
Tommy is played by Jason Statham or Leonardo Dicaprio
Eva is also a Catholic Saint who gets decanonized once it is known she was an aetheist
