Dec ✮ 12 ✮ 2024 – update
Part of me hates doing these mostly because it's a whole lotta nothing and me just repeating everything I said the last update (lol) but I do like doing it because I like keeping people updated, even if it's a non-update. I may sound like a broken record (pun not intended) but I know a lot of people don't catch my updates every time so it's nice to just keep people informed yk yk
✮ — Part 2 + rewrite
Fun fact: I had written an entire essay about my excitement for the rewrite and chapter 3 and beyond but it got too long!
It boiled down to me wondering why I'm so excited for this rewrite and realizing it's because I feel comfortable enough to approach it with complete creative freedom. I wrote the first iteration of the demo with the constant worries swimming in my head like "I hope people understand what I'm trying to say here" and "I hope this situation is being read the way I intended for it to be read." And I think I sort of had those thoughts tenfold while writing Part 2. If you paid attention, you can probably see where I was trying to shut down certain discussions in the narrative lmao
Recently I had a tiny epiphany and reminded myself that it's not always about what I intend to write, but what is being understood by each reader. And yes this is basic writing 101 but let me have this moment of clarity okay. Embracing that means I can proceed with Infamous without holding back and sticking to my guns in regards to what I want for this story aka I'm just going to write what I write and like....not worry about the rest you feel (while of course integrating the common critiques and suggestions and improving on the things Infamous falls short in—I am not Shakespeare lmao)
ANYWAY my point is that I'm excited to fix up the demo !!! and just go back to it with complete confidence in myself and write whatever the heck feels right to me (and write the rest of the story lolol) and return with a better story than I have now for everyone!!

planning what I'm going to improve and squeezing that in a reworked outline so it can flow much better narratively.
Outlining Chapter 3 and hopefully have the bare bones first draft drafted up which is mostly just be writing blocks of descriptions
I'm not sure I'll have anything substantial to justify looking for beta testers so soon yet but maybe!
work on my spice writing babey writing/reading spice makes me actually physically recoil but im determined to get better! which reminds me to finish the 6k follower gifts!
And also take a small breather because I am moving!

Apology Post (with extra info)
TW! Suicidal thoughts/Intrusive thoughts, poor grammar
(Note: Every hate message I receive referring to the post below will be posted here as well. Pin of shame, bastards!)
I edited this lightly to add some extra information and move the TLDR up here, and added a cut.
Now, with the explanation, things have calmed down a bit. However, due to poor conduct, asks are going to be turned off until Sunday (25/2) and anon asks will be on back at 1/3.
If it continues when I resume anon asks, everything will be off again.
TLDR: I felt guilty and my mental health deteriorated because of the war, so I blocked the Palestine tag and received heavy backlash.
So the post I am referring to is this one. (Note: Said post has now been deleted by yours truly.)
Here, I will detail why I made this post, the events leading up to it and the backlash.
Some background information: I am a 14–year-old girl with unmediated anxiety and depression.
I have always been concerned about human rights. Even when I was a child, I would ask my mom, “Why do we have wars? Why can’t everyone get along?”
I tried to write a letter to my principal asking for more extensive sex ed, but scrapped it once I remembered that I was in a catholic school.
And when the Ukrainian war came along - biggest incident since I got access to tumblr - I was a staunch supporter of Ukraine. When I wasn’t in uniform, I made a point to dress in blue and yellow. No one noticed, of course.
In the early days of the Palestinian Genocide, I was eager to reblog any and all information that crossed my dash, even though I knew I couldn’t do anything to help. If you scroll down deep enough, you can find my posts.
However, as time passed and the war went on, whenever I saw those posts, I started getting thoughts to off myself. Those included, though not limited to:
“Oh, wow, look at you scrolling tumblr while millions are dying. Good job you, why don’t you go and join Hitler in hell, you’re contributing to this mess.”
And it got so bad that I would have mini panic attacks whenever I saw some posts like that.
I blocked the tag last year.
At that time, I sent an anonymous ask to @justagingerwithredhair, one of two people I trusted decently with my mental issues.
I can’t find it anymore, but it went something like this:
“Ginger, I’m sorry but I had to block the Palestine tag, it’s detrimental to my mental health and I can’t deal with it anymore”
and it was received positively.
Yesterday (in my timezone), I posted the post seen in the photo. I had not enough brainpower to realise that it could be taken both ways.
I was blocked by at least one person and received the following anonymous ask.
You can see my response in my blog, but I will repeat it again.
I am not a terrorist, a genocidal maniac, an Islamophobic bitch or a Zionist.
I have spoken out against Israel. I watch videos of Islamophobic people with disgust. I was outraged when the Holocaust was not required teaching in my school. I believe the Israeli Government is in the wrong.
If you keep this up I will be the one hanging from buildings.
You have made me write a post about my life that’s longer than 90% of my fanfictions. Congratulations.

“Byeee, get home safe!” you called out to your friend, watching as she opened her car door and craned her neck back to look at you, giving you a small smile and a peace sign. You repeated her actions, waiting for her to get into her car, before you followed suit.
Once you got situated inside your own car, you unlocked your phone to set up a queue of songs for your drive home, almost throwing it onto the dash when you saw Wooyoung’s name pop on your screen. “Awesome,” you mumbled to yourself, bringing your thumb and index finger up to squeeze the bridge of your nose, sighing in dismay.
You sat there with your phone buzzing against your hand for a few seconds, ears zoning in on the sound of your heart racing inside your chest. “Fuck, okay.” You leaned your head back against the headrest and reluctantly answered his call, snapping, “Let me guess, you want me to come over, right? And you’re not going to take no for an answer, are you?”
“Mm, you’re already wound up all nice and tight for me, huh?” your ex returned in a low voice, unable to see the way you were gripping your thigh with your free hand. “I like that.”
You let out an ‘augh’ sound, as if you were disgusted, making an attempt to bring him down a peg or two. “Of course you would. Your life must be really sad if you get turned on just by the thought of arguing with me.”
“Yours must be even worse since you’re always willing to become an obedient little cumdump for me,” he replied swiftly, chuckling when he didn’t get a response, except for a small gasp on your end. “I’ll see you soon, y/n.”
Hearing Wooyoung simply hang up the call after what he had said should’ve made you mad, but it almost had the exact opposite effect on you — once again proving that the both of you were one and the same. Series Summary: The soldier is finally free but he has one big problem, he can't finish. Until he meets a man called Steve who apparently has the magic touch.

This is who he was before the soldier?
He doesn't even recognize himself. He's staring at his own face and he has no idea who that is.
This doesn't make any sense.
He knew Steve... Steve was his best friend? The soldier's head spins, it hurts. This is too much information, he can't process it all. But he keeps staring.
He stands in front of the display for a long time. He memorizes it, every word, then goes to the public library and reads more.
On the walk back, the soldier grows angry. How could Steve not tell him who he was? He's Bucky Barnes... who the fuck is that? More importantly, where was Steve when he was trapped with them for nearly a century?
He's furious by the time he gets back to his place, steps inside, and finds Steve sitting at the table.
The rage bubbles inside of him instantly. He slams the door shut and walks to the other side of the room.
"I hate you."
"What?" Steve leaps up from the chair looking like a heartbroken puppy.
"You lied to me."
"Buck, no—"
"You know who I am, you know me."
"I..." Steve hesitates. He's been caught red handed.
"Leave," the soldier demands.
"Bucky, please, let's talk about this," he pleads as he walks over.
The soldier throws a fist, the metal one, straight for Steve's face. Steve catches it in his hand but struggles to hold it. They're both strong from the serum but the metal is heavier than his flesh. Steve finally lets go and dodges the punch.
"Get out!" the soldier yells.
"Bucky, I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I was trying to take things slow."
"Slow? Fucking me five times a day taking it slow," the soldier barks back.
"I thought you wanted that — please tell me you wanted that. I would never—"
"I did. Fuck. Just get out. I hate you. I don't wanna see you ever again."
"No, Buck, please let me fix this. I can—"
"Get out!"
He starts pushing Steve to the door, physically shoving his chest backward until they make it across the room.
"I won't leave! I can't until—"
"Where were you!" Bucky screams.
He tears his hands off Steve and turns away. His eyes sting, his throat goes dry.
"What?" Steve's voice sounds small now.
"Where fucking you? A museum said you were my best friend. And you let them..." his voice cuts off then.
He steps further away, with his back still turned toward Steve but he assumes the blond man won't let it stay that way for long.
"I... I thought you were dead. I swear, I didn't know and then when I found out, we went to save you. I would've given anything to get you out of there." Steve's voice shakes. He might be crying but the soldier refuses to turn around. "I'm sorry, Buck. I blame myself, I do. I wish it was me. I never... please, Bucky. I'm sorry, I love you so much."
The soldier turns around, his eyes wide with shock.
"What?"
Steve nods, wiping tears from his eyes.
"I've always loved you. You probably don't remember. I'm sorry, I'm so sorry."
He falls to his knees and sobs. It surprises the soldier. He doesn't know what to do. He's never seen someone sob that wasn't begging for their life. Steve is... apologizing and confessing his love for him? The soldier is greatly confused by this.
Eventually, Steve's sobs calm down. He stares up at the soldier.
"You... love me?" the soldier repeats.
"Yes, Buck. Always have."
"And you still want me..."
Steve pushes himself up from his knees and stands.
"Of course, I always will."
The soldier's brows knit tightly together. It's hard to process. He doesn't know how to handle so many emotions. All he can think to say is something factual.
"You take care of me."
"I try," Steve says.
"I like that," the soldier admits.
It feels weak to say it out loud but it makes Steve smile.
"I want to. Would you let me keep doing that?"
The soldier presses his mouth tight, he looks at the mattress on his floor and thinks about sleeping there with Steve. Then he thinks about sleeping there without Steve. One feels much worse.
"Okay," the soldier agrees. "But on one condition."
"Anything."
"You tell me everything."
It's a lot for the soldier to process. Or maybe he should say Bucky. Since he knows who he is now.
It's odd trying to call himself by a name. He hasn't thought of himself that normally in a very long time. His name is Bucky, really James. Steve told him his entire life story. And Steve's own story.
Ends up, the reason Steve kept leaving is because he's an actual superhero. He works with a group called the Avengers to protect the world. Bucky would call it farfetched but he was a brainwashed assassin held captive for eighty years so he's not going to say that.
Steve gives him a lot of space after they talk. He tells Bucky to call him anytime.
The problem is, Bucky misses Steve the first day he's gone. He calls him later that day and lets Steve hold him for the first night. Just hold him. They eat breakfast together the next morning and more and more Bucky realizes how much he wants this. All these nice, small things. Steve's company, his care.
They're sitting in his place. Silent but together. Bucky is on the mattress, leaning against the wall while he writes in his journal. Steve is at the table reading the newspaper.
Bucky closes his journal, gets up from the mattress and walks over to him. Steve looks up, setting the paper down with a smile. Bucky kisses him right on the lips. It's the first kiss he remembers initiating in his lifetime. Steve looks surprised when they draw back.
"Can I kiss you back?" Steve asks, his voice is so hopeful.
Bucky nods and they end up making out, Bucky sitting on Steve's lap until he gets hard. The thing is, as much as Steve tries to give him space, what he doesn't know is Bucky feels like his body only just woke up a couple of weeks ago. The night Steve followed him home. And Bucky really doesn't want to give up how good his body can feel.
So they have sex. And it feels just as good as Bucky remembers. He allows Steve to make him come six times that day. Then that night, he rides him for a seventh.
When they're in bed, waiting for sleep to come, Bucky rolls over and looks at Steve.
"I forgive you," he says.
Steve blinks but doesn't say anything.
"I think you would've found me if you knew," Bucky explains.
Steve leans forward and kisses him.
"I'm still sorry," Steve whispers.
"I wanna stop talking about it now," Bucky says.
Steve nods and pulls Bucky into his chest, holding him tight. Bucky likes that the most when Steve holds him so tight it's like he's scared to let him go. Bucky falls asleep just like that.
The next morning, Bucky tries to eat eggs again and doesn't throw up. Steve celebrates like it's his fricken birthday. He hollers with his hands up, hugs Bucky, and spins him around. Bucky feels himself blush and kisses Steve on the cheek for it.
A few days later, they go out for their first meal. Bucky orders soup and breadsticks, Steve tells him to eat slowly but when they're finished, nothing comes back up. They celebrate that night on the mattress with their clothes off. That's Bucky's favorite way to celebrate things.
One morning, Steve's brushing his fingers through Bucky's hair. They're still in bed, Bucky wakes up slowly and feels Steve pepper his face with light kisses until he's fully awake.
"I was thinking," Steve says. "What if we moved into my place?"
Bucky keeps a vacant face, he's thinking. Steve knows this by now so he keeps explaining.
"Although I love what you've done with the place..." Steve jokes. Bucky can understand it's a joke now. "I have a few more things. A bed frame for one. I'm paying rent anyway and it'd be easier with all my stuff there."
Bucky looks up at the cracked ceiling above them. Feels how sheer the thin blanket is over them. Finally, he nods. Steve smiles and kisses him. Bucky gets ready for them to celebrate when Steve's phone goes off. He has to leave again. Since he's saving the world, Bucky decides it's okay.
They pack up Bucky's things, it isn't much. Steve drives them to his place. Steve drives a motorcycle. Bucky likes that because it means he has to hug Steve's body tightly the whole way.
Inside Steve's place, it's clean and spacious. The fridge is packed, there's a coffee machine and blender on the counter. In the living room, there's a couch, TV, and bookcase. Bucky instantly goes to read all the spines of every book. There are a lot of them but Steve waits until he's done. Then he leads him to the bedroom and opens two drawers in the dresser.
"You can put your stuff here or there's room in the closet," Steve tells him.
Bucky puts the few outfits he has in the drawers and hides his journals in between his shirts. He thinks he will show them to Steve one day, just not yet.
He writes a lot about Steve these days. Most pages are now full of things he likes that Steve does rather than memories or nightmares. It's nice because the pages were once full of all the awful things they did to him. He doesn't think about it as often now. Not with Steve.
There's an entire page about kissing Steve. He notes how often he's the one kissing Steve first. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it gives Bucky this great sense of freedom whenever he does it. He can choose when to show his affection, he can choose to do it whenever he wants. And it feels so good. Steve is a good kisser, he writes too... now that he knows what that means again. He really likes Steve's tongue.
Steve tells him, he'd like him to meet the team when he's ready. The idea doesn't scare Bucky. He's starting to like the idea of building a small circle of people.
He's building a new life now. He writes that in his journal and smiles. He likes how smiles feel on his face now. And he smiles a lot more these days.
Steve really likes that, he mentions it all the time. "I love when you smile. I love when you're happy."
It's cheesy but it makes Bucky smile and blush. He hasn't had much cheesiness in his life so he'll take all the sweet sappiness he can get. And Steve's good for that. It's good Steve likes his smile too because most of the time Bucky's smiling for him anyhow.
Even with all these changes, in a lot of ways Bucky's still the same. Most of the time, he's still quiet like he used to be. It still feels like the safest way when he's learning so much about the world around him, about himself.
But Steve helps him. He teaches him a lot of things. He tells him it's okay to ask questions. He tells Bucky all the time that he can share anything with him. He'd never judge him. Which is good because Bucky's been working up to say one thing and really mean it... I love you.

My Opinions on Every GX Ship
There is an absolute fuck ton of ships from this show since it has a big cast and is one of the older shows and there are some characters I absolutely will not ship with anyone. So I’m going to be excluding some ships, including some potentially popular ones, to avoid repeating myself. Even after excluding quite a few however, there are a ton of ships so keep that in mind before you click read more. The ships I’ll be excluding are as follows:
-Any Asuka ship. I’m pretty dead set on her being ace/aro.
-Any teacher/student or just adult/minor ship. I don’t think I need to explain this one.
-Any Supreme King ship. Because I just can’t get into that. The Supreme King in my mind is Judai after having a severe mental breakdown, he’s not his own character.
-Any ships with a huge age gap. (Ie: most Rei ships)
-Any ships involving manga or Tag Force only characters because I’ve never read the manga or played Tag Force. I’ve only seen the anime.
-Any incestual ship. I’m just not giving them the time of day this time.
-Any beastiality ships. Because those exist apparently.
-Most Amon ships because my reasoning for disliking most of them is just “x character deserves better than this canon abuser.” so any ships where that is my only thing to say about it are disqualified for the sake of avoiding repeating myself.
I might also drop some lesser known or lesser talked about ships if I have nothing to say about them. Also, as usual, I am not attacking any shippers when I diss the ships in question. You are perfectly valid to ship any of these pairings for any reason as long as you’re not hurting anyone. So now, let's begin.
Absquatulateshipping (Franz x Pegasus)
Franz is the guy who stole Ra in that episode and he’s one of Pegasus’s employees so there would be a power imbalance. Plus that Ra episode was one of my least favourites so I can’t get into this one.
Acceptanceshipping (Saiou x Misawa)
Yeah, this one’s understandable. Power imbalance out the wazoo, of course, since for the bulk of these two knowing about each other, Misawa was a brainwashed member of Saiou’s cult but as an intentionally problematic ship, it’s valid.
Achievedshipping (Jim Cook x Ryo)
I can't really see the connection here. Nothing against it though.
Afflictionshipping (Ryo x Yusuke x Judai)
I really like both of them with Ryo but Judai doesn’t interact enough with or have an interesting enough dynamic with Yusuke for me to care for that combination specifically. Not a bad trio though.
Afraidshipping (Judai x Iwamaru)
Iwamaru is such a minor character I had to look up who he is so he clearly didn’t leave an impression on me. So I can’t really justify shipping Judai with him over his far more appealing ships.
Aiboushipping (Judai x Winged Kuriboh)
Okay, this is the first ship I have to say I actively dislike. Winged Kuriboh comes off way more like a pet to Judai than a romantic partner so this ship disgusts me.
Aidshipping (Judai x Johan x Edo)
I love all three of these characters and Judai’s bonds with them are pretty well established and interesting. Edo and Johan didn’t directly meet face to face in the series but they could post canon and I imagine they’d get along. Hell, they’d probably hit it off well since they both have deep connections with their decks. So this ship gets my seal of approval. Can’t believe I never thought of it before now honestly. I like it a lot.
Alloyshipping (Jim Cook x Edo)
I don’t recall these two ever meeting (Jim was dead before Edo’s involvement in the Supreme King arc) and I’m not really sure what they would have to talk about. So I don’t really care for it but I’m not against it.
Altershipping (Kenzan x Sorano)
Another minor character who only appears briefly in season 4 but he and Kenzan were implied to have been good friends so I understand it.
Amuletshipping (Fubuki x Judai x Sara)
Sara’s a one off character so this connection always seemed really flimsy to me so I could never get behind it. Maybe if Sara had appeared again and we saw what her connection with Fubuki was I could understand that pair but I cannot get behind her and Judai whatsoever since I headcanon Judai as gay.
Angelshipping (Manjome x Sho)
I think these two are a classic case of “these two fighting over girls was secretly just them trying to impress each other.” Or at least that would be more fun. So I enjoy this ship in that context. It’s not quite a favourite though.
Anikishipping (Judai x Sho)
I have only ever and can only ever see these two as brotherly since Sho canonically calls him “big bro.” So I can’t get into this at all.
Annoyingshipping (Manjome x Ojama Yellow)
Oh my god, this ship was beta Aiball all this time-
Except I love Ai and don’t like the Ojamas. I don’t hate them, they’re just… there for me. Also, the Ojamas all call Manjome “big bro” like Sho and Kenzan do to Judai so I see this as a more familial relationship. In fact, Manjome seeing the Ojamas as annoying little brother figures almost certainly feels implied to me.
Antidisestablishmentarianismshipping (Judai x Motegi)
Motegi seemed stoned the entire time he was on screen so a ship involving him having a crackhead ship name makes sense. Can’t say I care for the ship though since he’s so minor.
Antiheroshipping (Ryo x Edo x Judai)
Don’t really care for Ryo/Edo for reasons I’ll get to. As for the Judai ships, they could work. I can maybe like this as a vee but as a throuple, it’s not my thing at all.
Antiqueshipping (Chronos x Camula)
Nope. This one’s just creepy and not in an interesting way. Shoutout to this duel for being the first time Chronos was ever shown as something other than a nuisance though.
Aoishipping (Ryo x Fubuki x Manjome)
I don’t think I’ve ever considered Ryo/Manjome. I think from Fubuki’s point of view, this would work out really well since he’s close to both Ryo and Manjome, and they’d both bring different energies to the table in his relationships with them. So it’s a fun idea.

Okay so… I have some fanfics which can be considered to be an unofficial series where Judai is dating and travelling with both Johan and Yubel, leading to them inevitably interacting a bit. It’s mostly just in support of Judai but in the most recent addition to this unofficial series, Johan and Yubel have an admittedly fun dynamic and Judai is very chill with the idea of them being together, even teasing the idea.
So while the canon backing for this is awful and doesn’t work for me, I already have a narrative in which I can see it working: Judai dating both of them and Yubel going from begrudgingly tolerating Johan to having feelings for him. It’s not an idea I’ve written outside of Judai teasing it but it’s certainly an idea I’ve considered. So uh… I’ll get back to you on this one if I ever write that fanfic. For now, I’m conflicted on this ship.

I assumed she was supposed to be an adult woman and that her having feelings for high school boys was creepy but people in the fandom… don’t acknowledge that? Potential age gap aside though, this ship doesn’t work at all because Judai is so absurdly disinterested and immune to her flirting that it’s part of how he beat her. So this ship is a no.

It’s a decent idea. I'm just not sure how it would work in practice.

They’re also two very opposing personalities that can play off each other well and they both suffered traumatic losses in season 2. I grew to really love this ship during my recent GX rewatch, it might be my third favourite GX ship overall. It’s just really cute to me.

I like how Judai calls him “your majesty” the whole time yet simultaneously treats him way more casually than you probably should treat a royal. And yet that’s exactly what Abidos ended up needing and liking. It’s cute, I love their duel and it’s a fun idea. I just admittedly prefer other ships.

I considered Ryo/Edo really briefly when first watching GX but uh… there’s a lot of unaddressed baggage between them and they’re a little far apart in age and places in life so it never really stuck with me.

They both have daddy issues but it’s completely different breeds of daddy issues so I’m not sure how this would work.

Gonna actually be interpreting this as Judai and Yubel’s past lives. I don’t know if that’s actually what it is but a lot of these ship names don’t seem to be used nowadays and I’m using them more for organisation purposes at this point. Plus I just want to talk about Judai and Yubel’s past lives. We don’t know much about them, as we only see the one flashback but in that flashback, Yubel is willing to endure a horrific looking process and take on the form of a monster just to protect Judai. Meanwhile, Judai didn’t want them to hurt themself to protect him but after the fact, vows to love them forever. That’s just the right amount of touching and tragic for me and I really wish we saw more of these past lives. Maybe if the whole season had Judai having flashbacks to this past life and that scene in the season 3 finale was actually just the reveal that the person he was seeing the whole time was Yubel? I think that would’ve solved the problem people have of that decision of Judai’s being rushed. I never had a problem with it personally but this would have been better I admit. Anyways, I dig this ship.

Sacrificeshipping (Amon x Echo)
This is a plotpoint: Echo repeatedly says how much she loves him, it’s pretty much her whole motivation, and Amon at the very least claims he loves her, because sacrificing a person he loves was the requirement to control Exodia. That being said, they are also very much intended to be an abusive relationship. Amon is intended to be selfishly using Echo’s love to benefit himself. It’s twisted and horrible and exactly why I like Amon as a villain: he’s irredeemably selfish and borderline sociopathic and all of that leads to a very interesting villain to root against. I think the way he plays off and contrasts with Yubel in their duel is especially fascinating and makes Yubel almost seem sympathetic by comparison, which is definitely important to set up. So I like this pairing’s inclusion in GX. I think it makes the story and Amon’s character stronger because of the fact that it is a toxic relationship. I would never genuinely ship it but I’m glad it was included in the series.

I may just be the biggest defender of this pairing and plot point on the planet. It’s definitely canon from Yubel’s end in the sub and at first, yeah, it seems extremely fucked up. Yubel seems almost delusional for the vast majority of season 3. The moment where it’s shown that they were in love in their past lives however made it click for me. Suddenly everything made sense to me and Yubel’s actions, which were also at least somewhat influenced by the Light of Destruction, were put into a different, more understandable light. It made sense to me. Reincarnation is something I genuinely believe in. This wasn’t some fantasy justification for Judai suddenly returning Yubel’s love, it felt real and genuine. Of course Judai has feelings for Yubel after memories of his past life returned to him: he isn’t just learning something he had no knowledge of. The way I saw it, all of those feelings and experiences from his past life were rushing back and hitting him all at once in that scene so it made perfect sense to me that he would choose to fuse their souls together. Yubel sacrificed something for him in their past lives and Judai loved them so much that he wanted to do the same to help them. Yubel was being tormented by the light of destruction. The strength of Judai’s feelings as expressed by his past life convinces me that he would absolutely want to put an end to Yubel’s torment, no matter what happened to him, just as Yubel did in their past lives. I get that to some people it feels rushed, I really do, and more could have been done to build it up without giving away this twist. However, the narrative gave me just enough for me to believe that Judai and Yubel’s love was genuine and powerful. It’s a beautiful scene to me. It shows love in its most powerful, most painful form and shows Judai’s growth excellently. I love this pairing and I always will, no matter what anyone says.

The first time I watched GX and saw Misawa adamantly refusing the idea of romantic love, my first reaction was to headcanon him as aromantic. So… you can imagine my disappointment when he started randomly falling for Tania the more she flirted with him. Now, obviously, headcanons like that for me aren’t that serious, especially the aromantic ones. I headcanoned both GX Ryo and Zexal Rio as ace/aro for a while before going back on the aromantic part, likely because I’m not aro myself. Believe me, my problem with this ship isn’t a short-lived headcanon being debunked: it’s the fact that the first time I saw GX, I assumed she was way older than him. She looks like she’s in her 30s and Misawa is irrefutably a minor. Tania is a huge creep if she actually is that old. The fandom seems to disagree with me on that though and assume Tania is younger since this is a fairly popular ship. And I don’t think Tania’s age is ever mentioned so if that’s how you interpret it, that’s fine. I just can’t agree.

So I've been re-reading ORV recently, and I've been paying attention to the whole 'allegory for trauma' thing you mentioned that one time, which is SUPER well supported by the text. I was wondering, though... were you referring specifically to Kdj? Because I think that Yjh's regressions are an important part of the whole allegory. WoS still happens in the timeline- he cannot change the past, but he tries to do so with his regressions. There's more to it, but the char. limit :(
No, you're absolutely correct, and I was in fact referring to ORV as a whole being one big allegory for trauma (of various kinds). AND recovery! It is very important to me to emphasize that it is both.
Of course, Kim Dokja being the POV and main character means that most of this allegory is delivered through and/or tied to him; especially since he is not just an allegory for trauma but is A Traumatized Character. This means I talk about his part in the allegory a lot. Even Yoo Joonghyuk's regression itself originates from Kim Dokja. It's all connected. However, pretty much every aspect of ORV can be analyzed from this angle, not just Kim Dokja as an individual. In my mind it's less that "this is one possible angle of analyzing/reading ORV" and more that "this is the intended motif of ORV."
Of course it is not the ONLY possible reading of ORV, nor is trauma the only major allegory and motif that ORV has to offer, but I do think that any reading that doesn't take this allegory into account is missing the quintessential thing that makes ORV the story that it is.
I've talked about this allegory of trauma and recovery a lot; you can probably find multiple posts mentioning it by just casually scrolling through my #orv and #mine tags. I oftentimes repeat myself about the points that stick out to me most. Here's some more (summarized) thoughts of mine about what I am calling The Cycle Break Reading of ORV:
Obviously, the upfront and non-allegorical forms of trauma presented in the novel itself: familial, societal, childhood, economic, violent, sexual, etc.
The seemingly cyclical yet inversed nature of the novel's beginning and ending. Trauma and recovery.
Adding to that, the fact that Samsara - the literal cycle of Samsara - is such a huge and recurring thing in ORV which Kim Dokja pointedly defies or breaks at every opportunity (even when it is not directly referenced as Samsara, like with Biyoo). I feel like this one is a bat to the head with how blunt it is, though admittedly I don't know enough about the intricacies of Buddhism to provide anything deeper than that.
The similarly blunt takeaway about how money and the systems surrounding it can be majorly traumatizing, divisive, and dehumanizing to us all.
The differences between reading a story, playing out a story, and writing a story and how they function as different methods of handling one's trauma.
The aspect of who is and isn't a character, and who becomes a character or escapes from being a character, and how these each tie to and/or affect Kim Dokja are crucial to the trauma allegory.
Stories (and scenarios) overall often being delivered as a very direct allegory for a cycle of trauma that one is stuck in and cannot escape from.
Only being able to break out of these cycles when multiple people are involved in the effort. Finding new meaning when reading it again, together. Healing through interconnection.
Regression being much of the same, and the significance of Yoo Joonghyuk choosing to shift away from that and adopting a new stigma. Again, trauma progressing to recovery. (NOTE: there is another major angle to Regression in ORV, which I will get to in one of the later points).
The Outer Gods (and Avatars as well) being a metaphor for parts of ourselves that - consciously or no - we deny rather than embrace as a form of self-defense, and how this can end up harming us overall.
Outer Gods also representing not only aspects of individual trauma, but all those affected by societal trauma. Those who are forgotten and abused and failed by our biased societal systems. Those who are cut out to maintain a status quo.
The 4th Wall, Avatars, and Kim Dokja's face censorship all coming across as various forms/aspects of dissociation.
Maybe it's just me, but I think Avatars are one of the most poignantly pointed representations of DID I have ever seen. You could view them as a representation of non-dissociative compartmentalization of trauma but like. Why.
Kim Dokja's reaction to The Oldest Dream being reflective of the harsh criticism and blame that trauma victims often hold for their past selves.
On the flipside fot hat point: the uncovering of truth within ourselves being a tipping point in the process of potential recovery.
The raw fact that Kim Dokja is a suicidal person. Present tense. His multiple deaths throughout the series are reflective of this continued suicidality. Like everything else, these deaths are also occuring within the dream of The Oldest Dream. On multiple levels, this is Kim Dokja committing suicide in a perpetual cycle.
However, it is crucial that we acknowledge the flipside of this suicidality: Kim Dokja's stigma is what made Yoo Joonghyuk into a regressor. Yoo Joonghyuk - who is both literally and figuratively an ideal version of a person for Kim Dokja to project onto as a self-defense mechanism - is someone who cannot die. He is someone who must live.
Continued from that: In the end, Kim Dokja himself chooses to live. We do not have to see him beyond those hospital doors to know this is true. In fact, I think not seeing him is proof that he escaped his own "story" of trauma. He is no longer bound to the pages. We don't need to see him anymore. He's okay. We're okay.
The act of choosing each other being vital to mutual healing, and how this plays an especially strong role in the epilogues.

EXPERIENCE: At the very least 20 years of experience in role playing. Back in the chatrooms of american online, or myspace. Am I showing my age yet ? I know, it's such cringe. I want to say my first three characters I ever role played was Rufus Shinra from Final Fantasy VII and two oc characters, one VtM relative , the other Werewolf. I'm wanting to say my character had been Tremere clan. Can't remember my generation I had him under, though. My werewolf was from the tribe Silver Fangs. An Ahroun if I can remember correctly.
PREFERRED ROLEPLAY TYPE: Well... absolutely everything! Dark, torturous gritty, gore-infested, action, combat, drama, comedy, angst, fast paced, slow paced, smut, fluff, one shots. I enjoy them all ! Hit me with all the above !
PET PEEVES & DEALBREAKERS: I don't have many, but the few I do hold -- are more toward general respect for your partners. Don't be a dick.
God moding/meta-ing the RP. Don't use any info your character wouldn't have the slightest clue on. Unless it was discussed on how they may have acquired it prior , or planned through other threads. What remains in a thought collective, stays in the mind. Unless your muse holds telepathy in some aspect. Then it's a different story.
Judgement of writing style. My writing is far from perfect, and I often have one hell of a time judging myself. I don't need others on top of that, adding to my horrendous insecurities. I like detailing things, from the environment, to facial expressions, or even course of actions. I sometimes hyper focus on one thing and become brief with another. I don't understand it myself, nor always catch myself doing it. I hold horrible habit of having issue with repeating a certain word when writing my own posts, and I do sometimes get carried away over different synonyms to these said words. To the point that not every definition becomes so literal. How, or when I developed this habit, I do not know. It's a tick that only happens on my own writing, never on any of my partners. I judge myself too harshly in everything, not just writing. However, if I flood you with a lot of paragraphs -- that usually just means you struck my muse in a massive way and I wish to shower you with love. That I want to engage with you at what my brain considers my best. No body ever has to match whatever length I spew out. Please remember that. Also note, that even if my muse is struck so highly for your muse. My brain can still muck it up. It's a fickle beast. But that is adhd in a nutshell.
Judgement over ships/shipping. ... This one, the more I think on it, is a big one. I have been judged on ships in the past. On several accounts, actually.. some more recent. That it has gotten me reluctant to approach anyone to ask " hey lets try to smoosh these two together ! ?" Judging someone's ship is a disgusting form of shaming someone because they didn't conform to your ideals of said characters. Judgement with narcissistic attempts to push stuff a certain way -- yeah, no. Don't do it. Also, don't try to force ships . I support McReid, but if a Reid does not ? You back the fuck off the suggestion. It's really that simple. Respect. Your. Partners. Not everything revolves around romance anyways. Plenty of other relationships they can aim for. Friendships are a beautiful thing too. I mean -- platonic is also a thing as well, you know. It can bloom just as heavenly.
Constructive feedback though is more than welcome.
PLOTS OR MEMES: Yes ! I enjoy everything you're willing to throw at me, and will happily plan entire story lines to multiple connectives we can later link if that's what you'd like.
LONG REPLIES OR SHORT REPLIES: The in-betweeners. I love doing long replies when muse hits like a freight train, but if my muse isn't as strong -- or if my brain struggles to focus. Which it does, trust me. It'll be between that short and long range, or sometimes drop short all together. I don't ever expect you to match length if you don't wish to. That is not a requirement with me. As long as you can provide me with a paragraph to work with , I'm more than game.
BEST TIME TO WRITE: This is .. .. a tricky one for me. Cause my adhd makes it hard for me to write when everyone else is up in this household. So it would be somewhere between late night and early morn, for me. Eastern time.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSES: I'm honestly not sure if it's the we have similarities, or if my constant processing of what can be done to improve role play, suddenly bleeds into my own characteristics on a daily basis. Taking a bit of my characters with me every time. I'm a little withdrawn, keep a lot of my emotions on the inside, sometimes quick to become surly with forced authority types, described grumpy often , can be witty with the usual sarcastic bites -- if that accounts to anything.

Asami snapped awake as her heart thundered in her chest. He was trying to kill them! Poisoning them, forcing it all down her throat with his fingers. She and her mom had to get out of here while they still had the chance. While he was gone. Raw fear coursed through Asami’s veins, the hot adrenaline giving her strength even as the toxins still made her dizzy and weak. Her head throbbed. She could do this though. She had to.
“Mom!” Asami’s voice came out a cracked whisper. She grasped the warm shape wrapped around her under the blankets and shook it. “Mom, come on, we have to go.”
Her mother lifted her head. “Asami?”
Asami screamed. The lump that had once been her mother was him! She yanked herself out of his arms and onto the cold stone floor where he’d kept them for weeks. No! No no no no no! There was no sign of her mother now at all.
“Asami, what’s wrong? What’s hurting?” General Iroh sat up and reached for her. Firelight gleamed off his pale skin. Asami snatched her hand quickly out of his grasp. The dark room spun around her. Spirits, she was so lightheaded. Her stomach roiled. Her mouth was dust. Her vision started to waver.
“Get away from me!” she hissed, desperate. “I won’t eat it! I won’t eat any more! Just let us go!”
General Iroh reached for her again, his face full of mock concern. “Asami, calm down. Please. You must have had a nightmare—”
“Don’t touch me!” She scrambled backwards, her hands scraping against the bare stone. “What did you do with Mom? I need her!” Asami looked frantically around the cave for any sign of another person. The fire had burned down to embers but there was enough pale red light to see it was empty. She was alone. She had always been alone.
“Asami. Look at me.” Her eyes snapped back to him. The general’s voice had a hardness to it now she’d never heard before. But his tone seemed to cut through some of the fog as well. “Asami,” he repeated, slowly, his lips forming every syllable. “Do you know who I am?” And oddly enough, she did. His bearded face slowly lost its monstrous quality. Instead he only looked dirty and haggard, his bare chest covered with scrapes. General Iroh. Iroh. She knew him. He was here. He was here because she was… they were… cold? Something terrible flickered in her memory.
“Iroh?” she ventured. “Iroh, what’s happening?”
“Asami, listen to me,” he said. “You’re very sick, Asami. You’ve been delirious. I’m not sure what you see, or saw, but I’m here to help. I promise.” His hollow eyes flicked to the cave entrance, then back to her. “It’s very cold out, and dark. You have to stay here. I won’t swear not to chase you, but it will be very hard for me. I might hurt myself. So might you. I need you to stay.”
The pieces started falling into place. The cave. Akta Chat. Stranded, oh spirits she hadn’t been kidnapped, she was stranded here, they were stranded together in the middle of nowhere and he’d broken his leg and she was sick, she felt so sick.
“Asami,” said Iroh firmly, “I think you should lie down again. You need to rest. Will you do that for me?”
Asami nodded. Suddenly she felt more tired than she ever had in her life. She crawled back onto a big fur rug she had no idea how they’d gotten and lay down. Iroh pulled a big red coat over top of her. It was still warm.
“I can go sleep by the entrance, if you’d like,” he said. “I’ll give you space, but I can’t have you wandering off. Okay?”
“Do you have a… a…” Asami somehow couldn’t find the word. She ran her hands over the soft bed beneath her. “A fuzz? For you?”
“We’re not worried about me tonight,” he said softly. “Go back to sleep, Asami. I’m not going to let anything happen to you.”

HUG -
Because Willie did want Alex. They wanted his snarky jokes and warm hugs, his incredible drumming and soft kisses, his nervous pacing and gentle caresses. But was that love? Because if he didn’t truly love Alex, he should let the drummer find someone who would. Alex deserved every good thing the world had to offer, and there was no way Willie could give him even half of that. Not if they couldn’t even tell if they truly loved him. He couldn’t just keep Alex to himself if he didn’t even know if they wanted all of Alex or just the parts that made Willie feel nice and fluttery inside.

WARM -
“Alex?”
Willie’s voice cuts through Alex’s thoughts. He looks down to find his boyfriend staring up at him, looking confused and a bit concerned.
“You okay?” Willie asks. “You’ve been standing there for like a full minute.”
Alex feels his cheeks warm and he quickly sits down on the rug. “Yeah, I’m fine, sorry,” he answers, hoping it sounds convincing.
Willie doesn’t buy it. Of course they don’t. He’s incredible and can read Alex like a sudoku puzzle. Mixed around and taking some time to puzzle out, but logical and clear.
Alex isn’t sure he’ll ever have the words to describe Willie or how he feels about them. He just knows that it’s deep and real, and that he sinks a little deeper into it every time Willie laughs. Or smiles. Or does just about anything.

RED -
“You’re Bobby, right? I really did not want to start this year off by bowling you over with Chewie.”
Wait, if he knows Bobby’s name, then… “Reggie?” he guesses.
“Yeah, hi,” Reggie responds sheepishly. His cheeks are turning red, making his freckles stand out. Not that Bobby is paying attention. “Sorry again, I assumed I would beat you here so I didn’t look before I tossed him in here.”
“It’s fine,” Bobby repeats, though he finds he actually means it this time. Reggie seems nice. At least he apologized for almost killing Bobby with a life-sized stuffed animal. “I was a mess getting my stuff up here too.” Then he glances around at the scattered boxes and gives a wry chuckle. “I guess I still am a mess.”

DOG -
“Marina, come on in,” Ray greeted her, stepping back to let her into the living room.
“Thank you so much for taking them,” Marina said as moved slowly into the living room. “You know I’d take them myself, but I just got a new dog and there’s no way he would leave them alone.”
She glanced around the room, taking in the safety precautions and the lack of anything breakable. “So they’re going to be in here then?” she clarified. “I thought you usually had them out in a garage or something.”
“The studio is a bit of a mess at the moment,” Ray explained quickly. “We couldn’t get it cleaned up fast enough, and there’s plenty of space in the house.”

He stuck the last book into a box, taped it closed, and set it beside the others. Willie cheered and downed the last of their lemonade. Alex glanced out the open door, then leaned in to press a quick peck to their lips, tasting lemons and vanilla chapstick.
“I hope you know you owe me some real kisses when we get home,” Willie teased, poking him in the shoulder when he pulled back. “I’m doing a lot of work here, I deserve a reward.”
“Awww, am I not enough of a reward for you, Sunshine?” Alex snarked.
“Nah, I’m entitled to extra compensation for my efforts,” Willie said, smirking.
“That can be arranged,” Alex chuckled, tucking a stray hair behind their ear. “We gotta get these boxes out to the car first though.”

SUN -
Alex takes a deep breath, in through the nose and out through the mouth like Willie taught him. It helps a bit. The thought of Willie and his friends does too. He’s going to get back to them. He isn’t sure how yet, but he will. He has to. Now that he’s had a taste of the sun, of real work and friends and love, he doesn’t think he can live without it anymore.
How is he supposed to go on reading the same books and playing his drums and drawing the same view out the windows now that he knows the rush of adrenaline that comes from beating Bobby at chess? How can he rest easy on his own now that he knows how much fun it is to read stories to Carlos before bed? What is he supposed to do with his hands now that they have been taught how to weave Flynn’s long, dark hair into rows of braids?
What’s the point in singing alone now that he’s heard the way his tone mixes with Julie’s and Luke’s and Reggie’s and Bobby’s to the sound of the piano in the Molina’s sitting room? Why bother trying to make his hair presentable when Reggie isn’t there to mess it up? Who needs wisecracks when there’s no one to laugh at them?

A couple of hours in, Alex’s mom came to the door. “Hey, you boys need some snacks or lemonade?” she offered, smiling.
Alex glanced up from where he was seated on the floor, fitting books into a cardboard box. He could see the cold shield behind her eyes. The one he’d known from the time he was six years old. The one that meant, “It doesn’t exist if I ignore it and don’t you dare question that.” Alex felt like the little rainbow bracelet that had lived on his wrist since high school was burning into his skin under the icy burn of her gaze.
“Some lemonade actually sounds great, Mrs. Mercer,” Willie responded, giving her a smile she didn’t deserve.
“Of course, coming right up,” she answered brightly. “I’m so glad Alex has a friend like you to help him out with these sorts of things.”

So, this may be cheesy but it needs to be said. You are not a fake fan if you didn’t/don’t get a dimension 20 mini. And maybe that might seem obvious, but it bears repeating because it can feel like it. Obviously the show means a lot to many people, myself included and this is no hate towards people who have one, but at the end of the day it’s just a small thing to sit on a shelf. I personally can hardly afford the starting bid. I just don’t have that type of money, my dropout subscription is a treat for myself. Because the show makes me so happy. I’ve been watch it since 2018/2019 and the amount of joy it gives me is unreal. And that’s what matters. Of course I wanted a mini, but I need to remind myself that the show is always gonna be there and to be honest I’d probably lose the mini anyways. Who cares if you don’t have the item. Plenty of people don’t. As long as you love the show, you’re a real fan! And that’s worth celebrating.

two ramble posts in a row, im sorry. again, block the tag if it annoys you. this post is going to be long, sorry
anyways, i am going to introduce a new code name. while Reidar is the guy i have this weird friendship/dating situation thing with and Halfdan is my good friend, i am introducing a non norwegian now. he is from central europe so i will call him Manfred. just as for the other two, not his real name
anyways, Manfred is my coworker. his desk is next to mine. he does not speak any norwegian and is not very comfortable in speaking english, so as i speak german he speaks (according to my boss) more with me than he had in the previous 4 years of working there. (his german is also very unclear, so that even i have to often ask him to repeat himself)
anyways, he is this typical guy who does not go out, only goes from his home to work and back. he has no friends in norway outside of work, and even there he never joins when we go out (we are a very social group and meet up almost every weekend).
he is this kind of guy who thinks not giving a shit about how he looks makes him cool, he has always top everything you say or mame snarky comments. criticising womrns makeup, how people dress or behave, while himself wearing old af shoes, washe dout jeans and a black shirt every day, despite having the money to buy anything he wants. nothing wrong with that but hypocritical. he also complains about norwegian women on tinder, that they expect so much, while looking like sjit. he also thinks it is cool that he does not work out and eats frozen pizza.
he also is older than most of us and even older than my boss (he is 35 she is 32) and thinks this means he is therefore better and treats the rest of us like children in a condescending way, and always says that im such a child even though i am 27 and have my life more in order than he has.
oh wait no, wrong. he does not treat all of us like that. just the women.
he treats us as if we dont know what we are doing (we all have a masters degree in the same field, and i took less than half the time for it than he did), he does not take us for full and acts as if he is the only adult in the room. he also makes fun of us women because we are all pretty short and he is tall. wow such adult. so mature.
then comes the part that only i get to suffer because i speak german.
maybe people who have suffered through my ramblings a bit have noticed, i am a talkative person. i am shy at first, but after a time im friendly and like small talk. so as i started during covid and he was the only other person also coming to the office (i could not be in homeoffice as i literally did not have any furniture in my apartment because i moved for the job) we started talking. he went to the same uni as i, we knew the same people and professors, so of course there was much topic
anyways, he started to make more and more weird comments. like he uses the german word "Schatz" at me, which literally means treasure and is a term you would usually use for your romantic partner. he only does this with me.
then e.g. i dont want kids. i am even one of those people who actively dislikes kids, and does not want to be around them. i am a spoonie. i never want to have children and even if i would never curse them with my fucked genes.
when this came up he just laughs and is like "yea yea you will change your mind", "yea call me when you are pregnant" (mind you i am single). he does not know me or my life, so it is so inappropriate for him to say stuff like that. i also find it highly disrespectful tbh. i am also very easy to startle, and flinch with every loud noise. he constantly says how cute it is. yea.. not something to say to a coworker imo
but i am nice i dont want trouble, i keep it to myself.
but now, in september i was on a work trip in the alps, and he was with me. i met an old colleague there but other than that i knew no one, so he was the only one to talk to outside of the meetings for the week. we also added two days in a nearby city after the work trip because there were no direct flights back home.
during that time the comments just grew more and more inappropriate.
he knows my ex, who studied with him. he said "we should go back and pretend that there is something going on between us just to bother him"
first of all, no. weird. second of all. no. that is so cruel, the thing with my ex is still quite complicated. i told him no.
then again, a few days later, because apparently my boss told my male coworkers not to hit on me when i would start my job.
"we should pretend in front of your boss that there is something going on between us, that would be fun" (she is not his boss, he has a different boss, but his boss is also my second boss.. it is a bit confusing i know but we are still working in the same group)
no it would not. that is weird..stop suggesting that.
he also made a comment like "we're not married yet, Schatz" when i joked that he could finish my food at a restaurant. again, weird.
after the trip i was super sick of him. but now suddenly he joins all the outings with work people where he usually would not even bother. im so sick of him. and now those outings are annoying because i try to keep away from him but he always goes so he walks next to me and then throws in side comments or german comments
im trying to ignore him and sometimes i think he notices but he still tries to engage so i just pretend i am super busy and stressed. then he constantly looks over the small wall dividing our desks to look at my work and makes comments. usually that is not a problem and i dont mind, we work together and it can be useful but i am so sick of him that every breath he takes annoys me
so, yea.. now idk what to do. i told some of my coworker friends that i am creeped out by him, but they dont know what to do either.
should i tell my boss? she is italian and very direct. idk i dont want stress. i should add he cannot be fired because of this i think, but it would make things weird. i can also not change desks. my second boss who is his boss is also very non confrontational so idk if telling her would do anything.
his contract would run out this month but he got an extension, so my hope to be rid of him is sadly not going to happen. idk.. this is sjit

As the finale approaches and still being uncertain of whether I’ll manage to watch today, there’s a tumultuous mix of feelings inside me I want to attempt to put into words.
I’ve said it before, but I truly mean it from the bottom of my heart and soul when I say this show has given me so much. It’s kept me going through the tough times I’ve had to endure lately. It’s kept me from spiraling into a dark hole and prevented me from spending endless time wallowing in self-pity or having a catastrophic panic attack. Because I had something I genuinely loved and wanted to watch. To rewatch. That’s not something that happens to me very often, so the moment I realized I craved to watch episodes again, I realized I was down good. And in the best way possible, of course.
This show has made me laugh, cry, scream, cringe and pause the video to take a walk in embarrassment for the idiot making a fool of himself in front of my very eyes. It’s made me smile just thinking about it. It’s made me fall in love with life again, with knowing that even when I’m at my worst, art will always be there for me me. One way or another. This show has me rooting for otherwise despicable, unfathomable characters to take a break and TALK.
It’s got me rooting for my absolute man with a brain Tankhun to get a hold of everyone and smash them with a tray a couple of times until their senses come back to them.
It’s got me wanting to shove Kinn and Porsche into a basement, lock them inside and throw the key until they have a long talk.
It’s got me still furious at Big’s treatment.
It’s got me rooting for Pete to overpower Vegas and handle him around but also show him love because he’s my weak spot.
It’s go me crying out loud for Vegas to leave town, travel to a cottage and get in touch with his feelings to understand he’s more than just his father’s son. I want him to love himself a little and not based on his torturing abilities.
It’s got me wanting to end the fathers myself. Mainly Vegas’ dad. Oh, that man is going to get some shit coming his way.
It’s got me putting on a black list everyone who even slightly annoys Chay. Yes, that has Kim at the too of the list. His name repeats down the list a couple of times, yes.
It’s got me hoping for all these fucked up magia men to find happiness, however that may look for all of them. (Not the dads, fuck them).
Yes, the characters are all fucked up in some way. There’s no denying that. But to me, personally, they’ve all meant so much because I have managed to connect with each of them at least in one aspect. Doesn’t matter what it is or how terrible it may look from the outside. These characters all have layers, they aren’t just a psycho who likes to torture people for fun or a ball on sunshine who can do no harm. They have depth. So I believe it’s normal to connect to them at some point or another throughout the show. I know I have, and that’s that.
The production value. I– I just don’t have words. Every shot is so well made. The lightning, the angles, the colors, who’s in and who’s out, the way the camera moves… everything is so perfectly planned it is a viewing pleasure for our eyes. An orgasm for the eyes if you will. This team is an absolute dream.
This show has sparked something. I’ve blogged most if not all the episodes as I’ve watched them, writing thoughts but also some posts resembling meta. So I wanna thank everyone who’s engaged with those, your tags and responses sparked more thoughts and laughter. And that is truly something I need to be forced upon in this terrible world. I’ve also read incredible meta from others, and I am personally so thankful for them sharing it with us because it’s made me enjoy the show that much more. It’s helped me see depth in scenes I missed, or has helped me understand my own thoughts on something when I lacked coherent words to even understand how i felt about what I had just seen. And that’s so enriching for us all to have. We are so privileged to have them.
And the gifmakers? You guys have kept me alive throughout the weeks between episodes. We’ve revisited laughter and pain through those creations and I am endlessly grateful for them. We’ve seen parallels unravel and grow. And the crack edits and text post memes; god knows I am mad about those. You guys are geniuses. A kiss on the head for all of you.
These are the things that make this site the superior site for anything and everything.
How could I, also, not revisit every other post I’ve made and every other thought I’ve had about the incredible set of actors? I promise I love every single character and how each of them has made them come to life, but VegasPete, Tankhun, and KinnPorsche… I don’t know whether I hate that I love them so much, or love that I hate that I love them too much.
But Vegas. God, Bible really went ahead and said, if we are making this, we are making this as vivid, painful, and overflowing with emotion as we can. And by we I mean Bible himself. Vegas is, in my humble opinion, the most complex and hardest character to portray in this show, and we’ve seen that as the finale approaches. I could write books on how much I love Vegas and Bible’s mesmerizing work. I am sure plenty of people have told him, and I desperately hope he knows, but just to add to the obvious, I truly hope Bible knows he’s brought so much depth to a character to could’ve easily been written off as a manic psycho, that’s made almost everyone in this fandom fall in love with him one way or another. I hope he’ll get nothing but love, praise, and the recognition he rightfully deserves. I hope he’ll be drowning in job offers forever.
I am not sure how I’m going to feel and how I will approach the end of the show. That’s a lie. There is one thing I know for sure: my restless finger-crossing-wish-upon-a-star-pray-to-whoever-is-listening belief that we’ll get another season. As someone who hasn’t read the books and has no interest in doing so because I believe they’d be far too triggering for me, I do chose to believe there’re so many more stories to tell about these characters.
It’s been my upmost pleasure watching this show, engaging with the community, having endless thoughts about what had happened and what could come next once the credits for each episode rolled, rewatching to keep my soul alive, screaming on rooftops for everyone to watch, making meta and gifs of my own…
This experience has been the best fandom experience I’ve ever had.
Thank you to everyone involved with the fandom here on tumblr. To the actors for doing such outstanding jobs. To all the crew that’s made this story come to life and reach our devices.
I am so eternally grateful the stars aligned perfectly to give us this show. I hope they will align again. I’ll be here. Waiting. Hoping. Praying.

My Charles De Gaulle reading so far:
The Army of the Future, an essay/exhortation on the future defense and army of France published in 1934, is a surprisingly engaging read as a historical document. I am relatively surprised that it was so easy to get through because "military strategy" is definitely a topic I have never had a particular interest in.
General information I had found about this book elsewhere ended up being surprisingly accurate. De Gaulle hammers on and on about the importance of armored divisions, the weakness of the north-east border of France compared to the east border where the Maginot line was, the need of a professional army because of mechanization, that France could no longer rely on numbers for its battles, etc, etc.
As I commented on the tags of another post, it shows how false the notion that the nazis conceived the "genius idea" of blitzkrieg; the concept was already clear to De Gaulle at the time, and in his war memoris he mentions a wole list of authors that had been talking about tanks and their key relevance to warfare moving forward since 1917.
I've been very slowly making my way through the war memoirs, partly because this is a busy time of year, but partly because the grief, frustration, and tragedy of the YEARS of events that led to France's surrender in June 1940 and how De Gaulle is still feeling about them 15 years later are more emotionally taxing than I expected them to be.
But I've been having two recurring thoughts connected to them:
One, how Tolkien detested the readings of LotR as allegory, yes, but also, honestly, how easy it is to find their applicability in narratives such as these. De Gaulle presents government, high command, and French people at that point (the 1930s) as mentally aged and tired, traumatized by the Great War into a denial of their situation, desperately holding onto old strategies and violently refusing to consider new views that meant accepting the real danger of Nazi fascism and Hitler, even if it came with the strong hope that it could be met and repelled.
There's an intense tragic sadness every time he tells an event or decision taken, and repeats some formulation of 'this made things worse, but there was still hope'. This I found a particularly poignant example:
"Sadly, during the course of the Battle of France, this 14 kilometers deep stretch of land was the only one that was reconquered... by May 30th, the battle is virtually lost. On the evening of the day before that, the king and army of Belgium have capitulated. at Dunkirk, the British Army begins its re-embarkation. What remains of the French troops in the north tries to do the same; a retreat, by force, disastrous. Soon the enemy will start south on the second phase of their offensive, against an adversary reduced into a third of its strength, and more than ever lacking the means to answer to the German mechanized forces.
At my encampment in Picardy, I have no illusions; but I am determined to keep my hope... we have the Empire, that offers us its resources; we have the navy, that can cover it; we have the people, who, having to suffer the invasion anyways, can be incited by the Republic into resistance, a terrific occasion for unity; there's the world, that can help us with armament, and later on, by joining us. It all depends on this question: will the public powers, at all costs, protect the State, preserve our independence and save the future, or will they abandon everything in the midst of the panic of the collapse?"
(Translation mine from the Spanish translation I'm reading; I sadly do not speak any French myself). I'm not going to say, in a trite way THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE THEODEN FIRST AND THEN DENETHOR, but I think you can see the similarities in the narrative and perspective.
This one is a bit sillier, but the brain does what the brain does. I kept remembering that episode of The Simpsons (S15E21) where they escape Alcatraz and are rescued by a French ship, which captain tells them "we hate America too! Come to France, and we will mock the country that saved us twice from the Germans". On this site it is common to clown on edgy shows like Family Guy, but I was thinking how this "hey, it's a comedy, which means we stereotype, and make gross generalizations and are in general irreverent" can hide under the mask of progressive irreverence some rather startling thoughts on the opposite direction (that the French are cowards and idiots and inferior to brave and good Americans who joined both wars just to heroically save the incompetent behinds of everybody else) The irony that the whole plot of the episode hinges on Bart disrespecting the American flag does not escape me. I don't deny you can argue that the whole point is revealing the target audience's hipocrisy, but while The Simpsons were a generally smart show once, I don't think it ever was that deep).

I am not a hater of your blog nor do I think you’re a hater of Jack, I like your blog since there aren’t too many discursive accounts dedicated towards Jack. I’ve read your posts because they come up in the #jackharlow tag. I’m just wondering as there are a lot of (valid) criticisms from you and your followers/asks, and I’m confused as to why you stay. I know it’s none of my business and I suppose if you like him, that’s all that matters. I do partly think he deserves a tad bit of slack because, and like you said, his team are probably lacking or fans don’t know what goes on behind closed doors with his management.
I agree with what you said about his privacy: celebrities are of course, allowed to be as private as they want, but when it’s the same stories over & over from him - it doesn’t come across as him being private, it’s just recycled anecdotes masked as enigma. I don’t think the repetitiveness of Jack’s interviews are always actively INTENDED by him to look “mysterious”, I don’t think he does it on purpose, I think it just happens naturally and it’s how he is on screen - perhaps due to media training or he’s holding himself back, or maybe he thinks his fans aren’t going to watch every single interview (newflash, Jack - we do!). It does feel like Jack has so many sides to him that we don’t see. The flirty white rapper with repetitive stories, or a private writer who is tired of the industry (as we saw in Jackman). Perhaps that is what makes him interesting.

as i said before, i am a fan, and i can like a person and also not be satisfied with how some things go.
i am not sure what answer you want from me, but matter of fact is i have a blog dedicated to him. simple as that.
i wanted to be part of jack harlow tumblr and since i am not a writer i had to come up with something different. i also saw other people who wanted to get invloved, but didn't feel comfortable doing so, since cliques were established, and i thought i would give people the space to make conversation with others and talk.
as for me, talking + talking about things people really want to talk about = this blog, and it works.
jack harlow tumblr has a very strong denial mentality against all things "bad" and honestly that shit should be studied! i have never seen this anywhere else. the whole eco system of the fandom is … fascinating!
i saw what was lacking and gave people what they wanted and now they have a safe place to share their opinions and discuss their thoughts instead of being seen as haters or as someone who is trying to start drama for having a different opinion to others and not thinking that everything he does is the best thing since sliced bread.
is that really such a bad thing to offer to people?
second of all, i don't tag the "controversial" stuff, so others never see it unless they make the effort to find it, and that's on them!
