I just had the realization that a week ago when we saw the qsmp admin skins constantly changing to different players was done to get the pictures for the quiz
We really thought they were out here cooking up some juicy, angsty lore but in reality they were having a nice day taking silly photos together and frolicking around the island and stuff 💀

I was meeting a client at a famous museum’s lounge for lunch (fancy, I know) and had an hour to kill afterwards so I joined the first random docent tour I could find. The woman who took us around was a great-grandmother from the Bronx “back when that was nothing to brag about” and she was doing a talk on alternative mediums within art.
What I thought that meant: telling us about unique sculpture materials and paint mixtures.
What that actually meant: an 84yo woman gingerly holding a beautifully beaded and embroidered dress (apparently from Ukraine and at least 200 years old) and, with tears in her eyes, showing how each individual thread was spun by hand and weaved into place on a cottage floor loom, with bright blue silk embroidery thread and hand-blown beads intricately piercing the work of other labor for days upon days, as the labor of a dozen talented people came together to make something so beautiful for a village girl’s wedding day.
What it also meant: in 1948, a young girl lived in a cramped tenement-like third floor apartment in Manhattan, with a father who had just joined them after not having been allowed to escape through Poland with his pregnant wife nine years earlier. She sits in her father’s lap and watches with wide, quiet eyes as her mother’s deft hands fly across fabric with bright blue silk thread (echoing hands from over a century years earlier). Thread that her mother had salvaged from white embroidery scraps at the tailor’s shop where she worked and spent the last few days carefully dying in the kitchen sink and drying on the roof.
The dress is in the traditional Hungarian fashion and is folded across her mother’s lap: her mother doesn’t had a pattern, but she doesn’t need one to make her daughter’s dress for the fifth grade dance. The dress would end up differing significantly from the pure white, petticoated first communion dresses worn by her daughter’s majority-Catholic classmates, but the young girl would love it all the more for its uniqueness and bright blue thread.
And now, that same young girl (and maybe also the villager from 19th century Ukraine) stands in front of us, trying not to clutch the old fabric too hard as her voice shakes with the emotion of all the love and humanity that is poured into the labor of art. The village girl and the girl in the Bronx were very different people: different centuries, different religions, different ages, and different continents. But the love in the stitches and beads on their dresses was the same. And she tells us that when we look at the labor of art, we don’t just see the work to create that piece - we see the labor of our own creations and the creations of others for us, and the value in something so seemingly frivolous.
But, maybe more importantly, she says that we only admire this piece in a museum because it happened to survive the love of the wearer and those who owned it afterwards, but there have been quite literally billions of small, quiet works of art in billions of small, quiet homes all over the world, for millennia. That your grandmother’s quilt is used as a picnic blanket just as Van Gogh’s works hung in his poor friends’ hallways. That your father’s hand-painted model plane sets are displayed in your parents’ livingroom as Grecian vases are displayed in museums. That your older sister’s engineering drawings in a steady, fine-lined hand are akin to Da Vinci’s scribbles of flying machines.
I don’t think there’s any dramatic conclusions to be drawn from these thoughts - they’ve been echoed by thousands of other people across the centuries. However, if you ever feel bad for spending all of your time sewing, knitting, drawing, building lego sets, or whatever else - especially if you feel like you have to somehow monetize or show off your work online to justify your labor - please know that there’s an 84yo museum docent in the Bronx who would cry simply at the thought of you spending so much effort to quietly create something that’s beautiful to you.

Boy we don’t treat chronic pain patients well, huh. I had a patient tonight who was adamant that the hospitalist I paged wasn’t going to order an extra dose of oxycodone to address the acute pain they were having on top of their chronic pain. They were so convinced that at one point I found myself saying, “the doc ordered it! We got it! Here it is! The thing you are saying is impossible and unattainable is in my hand as we speak!” I had to interrupt them mid-sentence to say this. I had to wiggle the med cup at the patient until they processed it. I’ve never had to work so hard to convince someone of the existence of ten milligrams of oxycodone.

Demon Twins AU but Damian meets Ellie first
So! We have the classic Demon Twins AU, where Danny is the Twin brother of Damian. He was left for dead after a mission gone wrong in a snowy wasteland, with lethal wounds that would kill him within an hour. Damian rightfully assumed that he was dead.
Then one day, at a Gala his father was hosting, he seems somebody who looks exactly like Danyal. They have the same eyes, bone structure, many of the same Mannerisms, and all signs point to this being Danyal. He even takes some DNA and runs a test on it after the Gala. It comes up as a 50% Match to his own, the perfect percentage for a Fraternal Twin (which Danny was, they weren't identical)
He realizes that Danyal must have somehow survived his injuries and found his way to a new family, as improbableas it sounds. But there is one small deviation from the Danyal he knew.
The person at the Gala was a Girl.
In Public Record, she is listed as Danielle "Ellie" Masters, the daughter of reclusive Millionare Vladimir Masters. Which was confusing since Vlad claimed to have had a Son before her first Public appearance.
So he comes to the conclusion that Danyal must be Trans, and went through a Transition. He fully supports his new sister, but he does kind of need to contact her to see if she is safe from the League.
Unbeknownst to him, Ellie is a Clone of Danny made by Vlad back during his whole "Supervillain Phase". After he chilled out and became a good guy, she finally accepted him as a parent and let him claim her as a daughter. (They went to a frankly absurd amount of family therapy to reconcile)
Danny is just living his best life back in Amity Park, when Vlad tells him that some Heroes have been sniffing around his Estate and looking into Ellie's past. He just hopes the Fake Identity he made for her will hold up to scrutiny, it's been years since he made one.

is it ok if i ask what fallahi and madani are i googled them and got results about dialects i guess they are specific communities in Palestine?
of course its ok. so yes dialects do have something to do with it but fellahi means "peasantry" and medani means "city-folk". these are i *guess* "different" communities in palestine but it has to do with the way of life of palestinians within different regions.
medani, like my dad's family, live in cities and are considered "richer" (though after the nakba this is relative to within Palestinian communities). they work in tijarah — which the english word escapes me but i think its trade — and culture. glassmaking is famous from my dad's hometown which is Al-Khalil/Hebron. medani also do a lot of textile arts (think of hirbawi which is in Al-Khalil).
now this isn't to say that fellahi aren't major contributors to culture, i'd argue that fellahi are the biggest contributors to tatreez/embroidery. but they make the most of their *income* from farming. women make *their* unique income (which was especially useful for widows) from embroidery/dressmaking, though.
there's also bedouin which are nomadic but a lot of bedouin in palestine settled in one place after the nakba. i cant say i know too much about bedouin unfortunately but if bedouin followers want to provide more input.
now regarding accents: my mom for example is fellahi and she has a different accent (she says the "k" sound as "ch" when talking to her family) and my dad has more of like.... a "standard" palestinian accent (as in something people categorize as "palestinian" when hearing it). but khalaelah (which is what we call people from alkhalil) have a unique accent that people describe as "singsongy." my cousins tease me sometimes because apparently i have a soft accent despite my dad not speaking it and my grandfather getting rid of it after a while.
but yeah this is just a quick overview of the difference between medani and fellahi.

One of my favorite parts of the headcanon of Snotlout and Hiccup being cousins in the series is thinking about how crazy Haddock-Jorgenson family dinners must've gone in the pre-httyd1 era (by crazy I mean one-sided awkwardness and insanely passive aggressive comments.)

honestly I think alhaitham would be over the moon if kaveh proposed to him because then he could brag how the light of kshahrewar asked him, a feeble scholar, to marry.
