Before I got into the tag as per usual after watching the most recent episode: EP12!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just, WHAT!
It was a lot and I'll get to all the things I loved about it in a minute, but the funniest thing was Chisato complaining about the USB stick. And her and Fuki fighting under the desk. That was a bit surreal with everything else happening around them, but so fun!
And okay, the first half was a lot! "Sorry, I can't right now, I'm having an emotional breakdown" is how I explained it to my feline flatmate. I had my theories how it could turn out and what could possibly happen with Yoshimatsu and the heart, but I did not expect this! It makes sense in a way, with Yoshimatsu being the person he is and his strong views on how the world should work, but wow! And man, Takina, my sweet angel girl, I felt her SO MUCH! Her desperation and fierce determination, her anger!! She changed so much from the way she was at the beginning, it makes my heart bloom every time I see it or think about it. I simply love the way she loves Chisato so much (how Chisato says "I'm so glad I got to meet you" and Takina doesn't say anything, but her actions imply "Only meeting you is not enough, I want/need you to stay with me", I may need to lie down for a while and marinade in my feelings about them). There is so much life to her now!
Oh, and Kurumi taking down Robota was pretty funny as well. And how Mizuki is always there to keep it real with her complains, it was *chef's kiss*. I'm also still curious why people keep referring to Walnut as an old guy; is it because of the voice Kurumi uses, or is it because Walnut has been a presence for a long time? And also: I'm really curious about conspiracy theories within the world because while people seem to believe that everything shown on the news screens was indeed a publicity stunt, I don't think everyone would be like that.
Finally, the cliffhanger at the end was [screams into pillow for a bit]. I saw people in the comments call it ungodly, and I cackled a bit at that. Oh man, I can't believe it's only one episode to go and that it will drive me absolutely feral to wait for a week.

aoba johsai <3 lover
hi here’s some songs from taylor swift’s lover album that i think match each seijoh pairing :))
iwaoi <3 lover
i mean c’mon
it’s IWAOI ofc they get the title track
“and you’ll save all your dirtiest jokes for me / and at every table, i’ll save you a seat”
AHSJDJ it’s them !! they don’t even have to say anything, if there’s a chair open next to iwa/oiks, everyone automatically knows who it’s unofficially reserved for
“and i’m highly suspicious that everyone who sees you wants you”
^ i think this covers both oikawa’s natural jealousy as well as how iwaizumi’s watched time after time again as countless amounts of people crush on his tooru
just the term “lover” for them. i think it’s the word they’d use in the timeskip when describing their “secret relationship” during interviews, it reveals as little as possible about the “mystery person” while still properly communicating just how important they are :)
matsuhana <3 it’s nice to have a friend
makki and mattsun genuinely have no fucking clue how they got together, they just sorta slowly shifted from being friends and doing friend things to doing boyfriend things and being boyfriends
bc of this they just picked a random ass day as their anniversary and just rolled w it
matsuhana’s so interesting to me because they’re friends to lovers like iwaoi/kinkuni yet each of them is a different FLAVOR of friends to lovers that i can’t quite explain but i love em
“something gave you the nerve / to touch my hand”
THEY!! YES! doing all their coupley shit all the while saying “it’s nice to have a friend” even though they both realize it’s faded into something much more
“twenty questions, we tell the truth” idk they just seem like they’ve never lied to each other before bc they’ve never had any reason to hide what they’re feeling
kyouhaba <3 afterglow
*deep inhale* OKAY there’s a LOT !
it should be noted that literally so fucking many of the other songs fit them but i want something slightly kinda happy pls :’)
i really love this song and it’s portrayal of arguing w your loved one and then taking the time afterwards to apologize and take accountability
and there are so so many kyouhaba fics where they fight and then make amends (although i still think there should be even MORE)
i just love them having so many feelings and not enough ways to deal w them and the vulnerability when they own up to their mistakes and AAHHHHHHHH
“i don’t wanna do this to you / i don’t wanna lose this with you” and “hey, it’s all me, just don’t go”
(^ examples of them being VULNERABLE AND OPEN)
also “tell me that you’re still mine / tell me that we’ll be just fine / even when i lose my mind”
i am normal about them! (lie)
side note i like how when perusing the seijoh couples gallery you just see “childhood friends to lovers!”, “best friends to lovers!”, “pals to lovers!”, then you turn the corner and see the most aggressive, tension-fueled enemies(?) to lovers pairing you’ve ever seen for no goddamn rhyme or reason
kinkuni <3 paper rings
paper rings has a childlike whimsy that suits kindaichi & kunimi’s relationship perfectly
half of the lyrics seem like things kindaichi would say to kunimi w full earnesty too
“i’m with you even if it makes me blue” and “wrap your arms around me, baby boy” !!!
(kunimi calls it “corny”, kindaichi calls it “romantic”, both with dumbass, lovestruck smiles on their faces)
“i hate accidents except when we went from friends to this” is 100% kunimi though, he doesn’t like surprises and events that require him to exert extra effort, but for kindaichi? he’s more than okay with it
the whole song is just so sugary sweet and shamelessly adorable and at the end of the day that’s what kinkuni is! (at least behind closed doors, bc they get embarrassed sometimes)
and bc i can’t leave my boy out, it should be noted that watari shinji is a red man to his very CORE. you bet your ass on his twenty-second birthday he was blasting 22 like his life depends on it

Here’s some Shinji hcs I have made that I wanna share:
Shinjiro doesn’t know Jack shit about technology. Put him in front of a computer and turn your head for one second and the things making some cursed dial up sounds and definitely broken. He’d probably call remotes clickers. He just can’t keep up with these new fangled devices!
Hes autistic because get real like I’m gonna let him escape my grasp without making him autistic. But in particular hes the bad at eye contact kinda autistic, he’s often looking at his shoes when walking, off to the side when he’s being edgy, and in an upper corner when he’s nervous. And socially he is very much a cat he doesn’t wanna talk too much but he will just sit in the corner of the room while everyone else is talking. Hed definitely mask a lot and repress a lot of stims but one that always comes out is nail biting, he’s a big nail biter
Shinjiro just seems like he’d like to read and in particular hed read jane austin and he’d absolutely freak out if anyone found out lol. Like he hates school, it’s never clicked for him, but when he’s on his own I think he’d enjoy reading to pass time and idk he just gives strong jane austin energy
He sews he knows his fucking way with the needle your honor
Shinjiro was always secretly really jealous of Mitsuru cuz she has a motorcycle and he thinks it’s the coolest thing ever but he was always too afraid to ask if he could ride it. He will one day though don’t worry!
I really like nonbinary Shinji like he’s kinda insecure about his more feminine interests but the sees gang is pretty supportive so he eventually gets comfortable enough and he may wear nail polish or long skirts. He’s also definitely the type to have always been really defensive over his long hair like as a kid whenever his hair was cut he’d just be really upset over it and whenever someone comments on his hair being too long Akihiko is like 😤. And in general I think Shinji just doesn’t feel connected to gender hes just like get this thing away from me lol
If he doesn’t become a cook I like to imagine him becoming a vet
He has a really hard time saying no to the sees gang like if he’s one on one he can with great strength but if more than one of them are in the room absolutely not they all give the biggest puppy dog eyes and he thinks they’re adorable it creates lots of highjinks
When Ken talks about his favorite superheros and mangas Shinji tries to be supportive but he literally has no clue what this kid is talking about
Throwing in some akishinji teehee they both wanna be the strongest one in the relationship it creates lots of petty arguments but Akihiko definitely would pick up Shinji super dramatically bridal style and Shinji would hate it but secretly like it at the same time. He wants to be the strong one he wants to be the one to take care of Aki but also Aki is so strong 🫣
Throwing in some shinjifuuka too Shinji thinks Fuuka is the cutest person he’s ever met he just wants to scream but he can’t do that he can’t emote so he just sits there silently dying inside while Fuuka meows at the wall. I also think when he was on the streets and heard those people bragging about bullying Fuuka he kicked ass about it cuz yo fuck those people man they suck and Shinji wouldn’t put up with that, especially not once he actually meets Fuuka. Like I don’t think he’d try to pick fights as much after the coma and I don’t think he would if he was with Fuuka cuz she wouldn’t want him to fight people but before that yeah he’d definitely be pretty pissed. Also I think Fuuka is a knitter and Shinji is a sewer so they bond over that and make clothes for each other Fuuka makes Shinji a cutesy frog beanie and he’s like tch whatever 🥺 but definitely wears it and he’s really embarrassed its cute

shitting myself
part 2
This was a similar phenomenon that I had used to equate these feelings in elementary as well I suppose, there were a few classmates in my class who I thought I had a crush on due to these feelings of wanting to be like them, but it was something I cared way less about as a kid cause kids don't know what it is to fucking "like" someone. anyways as I entered middle school and became 11 years old, these romantic confusions became more prevalent. In 5th grade I had met a friend who I looked up to so much. He had moved to my school from Georgia, and quickly made friends. He had incredible confidence, smarts, talent, charisma, and had the kindness to become friends with my, which was something I found very difficult growing up. As me and this classmate entered middle school, and I got to know him in a bit more of a mature way, and just as I got to generally know him better, I had thought all these things I looked up to were romantic feelings. At some point in 7th grade, this friend had "asked me out" lol, as much as a 12 year old could I suppose. I think at this time this was something that made me happy, but now that I look back on it, it was not because I felt the giddiness of having someone you liked ask you out, but more so the adoration of someone you looked up to recognizing you in a special way. The friends I had at the time loved to want to make us hold hands and hug, but that was never really something we ever did, maybe he was shy, but I simply was just not interested, nor wanted to do something like that. Because of complicated traditional family reasons, my mom had found out I was "dating" this person, and had me "break up" with him in a text message, which my friend very obviously did not take kindly to. He was quite upset at the time. I was a bit upset by this turn of events as a kid, but it wasn't really too effecting on me. I think I was more upset when I thought I would lose his friendship when he was mad at me, rather than the "sadness" of us no longer being "together". This was because honestly, as soon as we went back to being friends I was perfectly fine, he even started dating my friend which probably would have bothered me if I really actually liked him, but honestly it made me happy at the time to see my friends happy together LOL. Anyways, how this translated to characters I looked up to during this time, I became obsessed with characters like Kaneki and Rin from blue exorcist. Kaneki to me, was a complicated character who overcame great odds as someone who hated himself so much, to creating happiness in his life, and as a kid growing up who had no idea how to overcome these feelings, it was something I looked up to greatly. Rin was confidant, expressive, able to stand up for his thoughts and ideals, with the strength to get what he wanted, which were also traits I loved and wished I could inherit. These two characters particularly were characters I loved greatly during that time. I again confused them for fictional crushes LOL but again now that I have the matured mindset it wasnt really like that at all. even physically I would say I found them attractive characters, but like first of all they arent real, and B I think I just wanted to look like them rather than he attracted to them in that sort of sense I guess... because I would cosplay them and stuff like that LMAO rather than like kid thirst or whatever lol, anyways this continued to carry through with an especially important character to me at 13, Shinji lol.

things i adored about eva rebuild 3+1
- rei learning how to live and how to be human and to be happy even when she knows it won’t last forever
- the themes of hope and survival through impossible odds and nature preservation all linked to kaji and his legacy
- (goodnight. good morning. hello. goodbye.)
- shaking hands as a means of making meaningful connections with people being kept as a motif through the movie (rei and the villager, rei passing it onto shinji, shinji and kaworu, shinji and misato, mari and shinji)
- everything mari. what a good fucking character. iscariot - as in betraying jesus - but mary - as in his first caretaker. i fucking love her.
- it’s a film about grief: shinji is immobilized by his grief for kaworu until rei dies and he realizes it will do him no good to fall apart; gendo’s grief over yui caused him to self-isolate and eventually destroy the world over and over again. misato’s grief and rage over kaji made her hyperfocus on her mission, neglecting both shinji (who she used as a scapegoat) and her son; even kaworu himself admitting that it was his grief over shinji constantly suffering that didn’t allow him to move on, creating the cycle of tragedy. even the staff of misato’s ship is consumed by their grief.
- misato my beloved. adult gang my beloved. everyone is my beloved.
- asuka just wanting to be held, loved, understood, but not in the same way as the original asuka. this one understood she only existed to fight, and gave it her all, when in truth she only wanted a little bit of comfort (that she finds in her former classmates adopting her when shinji fucks up).
- the animation was a fucking phenomenal clusterfuck of color and the score was gorgeous
- it’s also a film about moving on from grief and trauma to be happy and i think that was a much needed theme in evangelion. the rebuilds being the ones to break the cycle of tragedy 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
- god. shinji being aware of it all being a cycle
- the original asuka saving current asuka from the collar exploding her as she becomes an angel
- ASUKA BECOMING AN ANGEL JUST TO GIVE SHINJI MORE TIME
- shinji understanding that not only can he not beat gendo in a physical fight, he is mentally and emotionally stronger than his father by LIGHTYEARS.
- the direct parallels between gendo-yui and shinji-kaworu because shinji and kaworu really did love each other fuck yall
- KAWORU REALIZING HE CAN BE A PERSON WITHOUT SHINJI AND HIS HAPPINESS IS NOT LINKED TO SHINJI’S EVEN THOUGH HE IS ALLOWED TO LOVE HIM
- mari saving shinji from his self-imposed solitude to give him a new life too

summary bulletpoint review of Shin Eva
[obligatory disclaimer that this is all, just, like, my opinion, man<3]
POSITIVE
Shinji's instrumentality scene with Gendo
Ryoji Kaji the Younger and Misato's development as an actual mother was great, deeply moving and deeply painful (as Eva should be.)
the entire first act of the film, honestly
more characterization for Asuka Shikinami and Ayanami/Rei 3, perhaps the best in all of the Rebuilds
it's a beautiful film, the animation in magnificent (even the CG, if you ask me), and the setpieces and action scenes all worked really well and didn't seem to have a disproportionate presence relative to other parts of the film
cannot emphasize enough how good the first act is. If the entire film had carried on that tone, atmosphere, and theming, I think my overall impression of it would have been much more favorable.
i liked the music, especially the callback to "The Passage of Emptiness" around 0:20:00 (I'm sure there are other score callbacks that I didn't catch, too)
many of my issues with / questions about 3.0/Q were resolved in a serious, focused way
the third act was nothing short of stunning visually and narratively, despite my thematic objections
I had fun with it. It was an enjoyable film, and still a cut above a lot of both recent anime and recent Western scifi blockbusters I've seen. For all my issues with the film, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it on both of my viewings so far, and I've no doubt I'll come back to it. I would unequivocally recommend Shin Eva to both fans and non-fans, despite....everything I'm about to say.
NEUTRAL / MIXED
everything about the Book of Life (whatever that is) and the non-resolution given to the question of whether or not the Rebuilds constitute a sequel or a separate continuity. It'll doubtless be a subject of debate for years to come.
by extension, everything to do with Kaworu, frankly. I thought he was great in Q, and because of that, my feelings on his presence in 3.0+1.0 amount to something along the lines of "he was great, insofar as he was there, but I wish we'd more of him."
the resolution of Gendo and Yui's relationship. I know it was pretty polarizing, and while I understand both the "perfect narrative resolution" and "misogynistic and deeply unsatisfying" takes, I'm not sure I'd entirely agree with either of them. It's well-executed for what it is, but still fundamentally unbalanced and not quite on par with the way it was handled in The End of Evangelion, imo.
the resolution of Shinji and Kaworu's relationship. I almost put this in the negative section, but to be frank, I never expected them to end up together, and as much as I love Kawoshin, I understand that that's not the direction the Rebuilds were ever going to take, nor is it a direction I think Shin Eva should've taken. Furthermore, I think the way the concept of the Time Loop was handled about as well as it could have been - an excellent balance between Nonetheless, I think the Kaworu section of the Instrumentality sequence was weak and overly dismissive towards the validity of Kaworu's feelings, his actions, and (if you'll pardon the irony) his humanity.
the balance of action / atmosphere / characterisation. It's not perfect, but it's better than any of the other Rebuilds, with (as previously stated) the first act carrying most of my favorite atmospheric/character moments, and the second act containing the best action sequences.
the general tone of the film. It started off very strong, with a feeling reminiscent to that which The End of Evangelion left me with, and maintained a suitably dark-yet-hopeful tone for most of the second act as well. However, it fell apart entirely for me in the third act, and especially in the final scene (which I'll comment on further later).
Rei 3 / Ayanami. I adored her. For exactly that reason, I think it's a damn shame she had to LCL-splode less than halfway through the film.
Ryoji Kaji the Elder. Everything we saw of him was magnificent! So I sure wish there was more of it! Given the scope of Shin Eva's content, I guess that's more of an objection to 3.0, but...I guess I just dearly hope we get more material covering the 14-year timeskip, WILLE's revolt, Kaji's sacrifice, and everything leading up to it. It feels like a missed opportunity (unique to the Rebuilds) for character development Kaji might've received. But on the whole, that's a minor quibble relative to how fond of his and Misato's relationship in the Rebuilds were handled in 3.0+1.0.
NEGATIVE
Mari / "Mary Iscariot". Enough has been said about Mari's "enigmatic" character, so I'll not harp on this too much, but....as someone who loved Mari's presence in 2.0 and was basically okay with her role in the Rebuilds as a whole, there was still a remarkable dearth of character development for her, which left me disappointed on the whole, especially considering...
...the final scene. That final scene. Oh man. I don't want to devalue the personal meaning it has for Anno, or the sense of satisfaction some of my fellow Eva fans got from it. But the more I think about it, the more it doesn't work for me. After the credits started rolling on my first viewing, I remember writing in my notes app - "How am I supposed to feel about this?". After my second viewing, I was left with.....exactly the same feeling. The scene is framed as unambiguously positive, and yet....it simply doesn't come across that way, upon further contemplation. Even setting aside my abiding love for KawoShin and AsuShin, I think even from a ship-neutral perspective the scene doesn't quite carry across the message of Hope what it seems to intend to.
The film's themes. For all its narrative and visual strengths, the film left me feeling confused, empty, and....fucking confused. And not in the same way EoTV or EoE did - my confusion was not to do with the actual events of the film, but with the emotional and psychosocial messages conveyed. I won't presume to know Anno (or his co-directors') intentions, but....it's hard for me to not feel like I'm being told to set aside the past and hope for a deus-ex-machina to fix my life. This is also something about which a lot of ink has already been spilled, so I'll keep my thoughts on this front short (especially since I can't tell if I'm giving the filmmakers too much credit, or not giving them enough), but....the plain fact that Shin Eva seems, at least superficially, to present itself as a thematic antithesis to The End of Evangelion is enough to leave me upset or at least unsettled. That's more of an emotional reaction on my part than an actual critique of the film, I know, but....I'd be remiss in not including it in my review.
Ritsuko - specifically, the fact that she was reduced to a side-character at best, with arguably less of a presence than even Fuyutsuki, and perhaps even comparable to the minor roles of the rest of the Bridge Crew. She was so very compelling in Neon Genesis Evangelion and even in her brief screentime in The End of Evangelion, and while I can hardly say I was expecting her to play a key role in Shin Eva after her diminished presence in the previous Rebuild installments, I can't say I wasn't hoping for that, either. Ritsuko deserved better, but like a few other things I've mentioned, that was more of an issue with Rebuild of Evangelion as a whole than it was an issue with Shin Eva.
Asuka Shikinami. She had her moments, but fell short of the intensity and depth of character Asuka Soryu was given. There's much more to be said here, but frankly it merits its own post, cos this one is getting long already.
And finally, I'll just say again that more than anything else this film left me confused. It left me questioning the value of the Rebuilds as a whole, the messages of NGE and EoE, and my own character as a person. Maybe that was the point. After my first viewing, I said out loud something to the effect of "So this must be what so many people felt after seeing The End of Evangelion. Now I get it!". Perhaps that speaks to the power of the film - it certainly speaks to Anno's enduring talent as a writer/director - but, for a film that was meant to be a spiritual successor to The End of Evangelion, it's impossible for me to say that it didn't fail to carry on that film's message of Hope despite everything, Hope in the face of despair, Hope against the hopelessness of the human condition, and the abiding power of the human person to persist beyond both the indignities it suffers at the hands of others and the indignities it inflicts upon others. It failed in that regard, to my view, and for all that I loved about Shin Eva, that's one failing I'm afraid I might never be able to get past.
TL;DR
I loved Shin Eva. I hated Shin Eva. I respect it for what it is, but I can't bring myself to put it on the level with Neon Genesis Evangelion or The End of Evangelion. Watch it. Definitely watch it, if you haven't already (and if you haven't, why are you reading this?!). The film leaves you with a closing sequence that demands that you draw your own conclusions, and ultimately, I think that's all you can do with a work that carries with it such personal weight (for both the creators and the viewers) and such heavy expectations.

How will the SEES members react if Koromaru had pups with another dog (let's she's a Shiba Inu)?
Mitsuru would be shocked. Usually she's so responsible and I imagine that after Koromaru was adopted, she would have thought to arrange him to be given appropriate vaccinations and consider getting him neutered. But with all of her responsibilities in SEES, it just sort of slipped through the cracks. And now...there are puppies running around the dormitory. One of them is very interested in her and keeps licking her hand, so she gingerly places it in her lap while she tries to work out arrangements to keep them in the dorm. It's a common sight to see her studying or reading in the lobby, with that one dog sleeping in her lap while the others sleep at her feet.
Junpei AND the puppies are running around the dormitory. He cannot get over how cute they are! They're all over him, giving kisses and cuddling all over him. He's got just as much energy as them, so they have the feeling he's just a really big puppy they can play with. And he loooves it. He also congratulates Koro for being such a "Romeo" and charming such a cute dog.
Fuuka and Yukari are fawning over both the puppies and Koromaru with his "girlfriend". Yukari wants to buy all sorts of shirts, bandanas, collars, and sweaters for all the little puppies! Fuuka thinks they're adorable, and she's one of the members that tries to make the dorm as puppy-safe as possible. She also moves all of her potentially toxic plants (to dogs, at least) out of the way in her room so the whole family can visit whenever they want!
Akihiko thinks the puppies are cute, but he also wonders if they could be potential Persona users. Is it likely to develop one if your parent has a Persona? Hmm, probably not...but he still wants to make sure that if they're gonna stay at the dorm with Koromaru and his mate, they grow up healthy. He takes Koro out for walks often as a morning exercise, so he'd want to walk the whole damn family whenever as some warm-up cardio. He has to go a little slower since these are pups and not full grown dogs, and it's hilarious seeing him with a whole family of dogs while he's jogging at sunrise. He also gets a sling to put on his stomach and back in case some of the puppies get too tired/overworked and he needs to carry them. That way he can work on his muscle strength too!
Ken is SO sorry he didn't notice this sooner and apologizes to Mitsuru and the others over and over. He knew that Koromaru was friendly with that female dog, always giving her kisses and enjoying walks/visits with her, but...PUPPIES? He had no idea! He scolds Koromaru for hiding it from him, but he wants to keep the whole family together in the dorm. He's grateful that the rest of the team isn't too upset, and that they also want Koro's family to live here too.
Aigis is fascinated by Koromaru's tiny offspring. She does wish that they weren't so keen on nibbling on her armor, but they aren't going to cause any substantial damage. They remind her of when she first awoke and had no idea of how the world works, so she tries to instruct them in her own way. She'll point out various things to them on walks and explain their function, even though they don't know what she's saying. They really enjoy laying on her body in summer since it's so cool, and the feeling she gets when they all cuddle on top of her makes her quite happy.
Minato is more chill about the whole thing. After all the things he's encountered at the dorm, it's nice to have a surprise be a family of puppies and not a monster trying to kill him and his friends. The puppies like to sleep in his room since he plays soft music for them, and they also keep trying to bat his hair away so they can see (and lick) his whole face. He also shows one to Elizabeth since she wants to see all sorts of things in the human world, and she ADORES it. ("So soft and fragile, but with so much potential to grow and change! Tiny little paws that can become mighty claws, teeth that barely chew that can become sharp fangs indeed...ah, it's licked me! It must agree with my assessment."
Minako fawns over them and spoils them rotten. She and Yukari buy the whole family a full fucking wardrobe of clothes and insist on a vote to name all the puppies. She always feels so sad leaving them to go to school, and she may or may not have tried sneaking one of them in her bookbag so "they wouldn't be lonely". Mitsuru immediately noticed and lectured her on how uncomfortable it would be for the puppy, and Minako finally caved and let them stay home. She also introduces one to Theodore, since he's always eager to see new things. She jokes that Theodore is like a puppy in his own way, and finds it adorable how Theodore attempts to ask the puppy questions and talk to it like a person.
(Also Shinji because fuck it, AU where everyone lives) He is very tsundere about the whole thing. SEES is too dangerous for animals like that, even if they can't enter the Midnight Hour. And what if something happens to Koromaru? He'd be leaving a wife--er, mate--and kids behind. The puppies like his long coat and keep settling inside the pockets whenever he sets it down, and he has many pictures of them on his phone of them sleeping inside. He and Akihiko will walk with them sometimes, and it helps them mend their friendship a bit; it's hard to get too upset or argue when there's a small army of puppies barking in tiny little voices at you. He also finds some recipes for homemade dog treats to make for them.

Whenever commie is no longer busy and have time (and ofc would want to write it), would you be willing to make a complete list of those who would kabedon; and the list of "who would and would not say the f/curse word"?
Oh man, you want a complete list? Well, ok, let’s go show by show here, I’m gonna get really lengthy with it. Like, I can’t go through every character in every show, but I’ll hit what I think are the major points.
Fair warning before you mash the read-more: I did, in fact, go through nearly every show I’ve seen. This post is long.
We will start with Kamen Rider.
Kamen Rider 1号: I want you to look me in the eyes and tell me you heard my grandpa say a cuss. Go on. I dare you.
Kuuga
Godai Yusuke: is capable of saying fuck, but does not, because he’s too polite. He might kabedon, but not for any romantic or sexual reasons, just because he likes to be close to people and he gets excited about stuff.
Ichijo Kaoru: says fuck on a regular basis. I think he would kabedon unironically but only in the heat of the moment.
Ra-Baruba-De: doesn’t cuss because it’s beneath her. She’d kabedon Ichijo, but would follow this up with an attempt to kill him.
Agito
Tsugami Shouichi: does not swear and cannot kabedon, although someone else might do it to him.
Hikawa Makoto: might say fuck in a moment of stress, but rarely swears otherwise. He could and would kabedon, but only in situations where doing so would get a comedic result related to his strength and clumsiness.
Ashihara Ryou, the sexiest man in the world: probably swears like a sailor and would absolutely kabedon. The very thought makes me go weak at the knees.
Kino Kaoru: definitely says “fuck,” but I don’t think he does fuck, and he certainly doesn’t kabedon.
Ozawa Sumiko, however: both says “fuck” and does it. She will kabedon, and she will stand on Omuro’s shoulders to get enough height for it.
Ryuki
Kido Shinji: always wants to swear, but doesn’t actually do it. He could kabedon, but only in anger; the thought of doing so in a romantic or sexual context would make him blush and stammer.
Akiyama Ren: can and will say “fuck” at a moment’s notice. You know he kabedons.
Kitaoka Shuichi: says “fuck” quietly, when no one can hear him except maybe Goro. He would kabedon gently and think himself very sexy.
Yura Goro: is a sweet, sweet man who neither swears nor kabedons.
Asakura Takeshi: is saying “fuck” at this very moment. He would only kabedon as a prelude to stabbing.
Tezuka Miyuki: is on this list because I love him, but he does not say “fuck” and could not be induced to. He could be kabedon’ed.
555 (we haven’t finished this one so I can’t guarantee that all characters will be included)
Inui Takumi: I’m pretty sure he could say “fuck” but I don’t think he’s actually inclined to. Kabedon’ing requires a level of investment in whatever situation that I don’t think he’d want to admit to.
Kusaka Masato: oh, absolutely.
Sonoda Mari: swears all the time. Doesn’t kabedon because she expects someone to do it to her.
Keitaro Kikuchi: is a very nice boy who does neither of these things.
Kiba Yuji: contains vast lakes of suppressed rage, and if he says “fuck” even once it might all come out. Does not kabedon for the same reason.
Osada Yuka: says “fuck,” but only in her heart. Does not kabedon.
Kaido Naoya: says “fuck,” but only when he can’t find a more ridiculous option. Absolutely kabedons at a moment’s notice.
Smart Lady: does not say “fuck.” Will definitely kabedon you, and moreover she’ll do it with her leg to make sure that the situation is just, uncomfortably sexual.
Blade
Kenzaki Kazuma: is breathtakingly earnest but nevertheless does, on occasion, say “fuck.” Doesn’t kabedon because he’s too sad.
Aikawa Hajime: has neither the inclination nor the desire to say “fuck” or to kabedon.
Tachibana Sakuya: can say “fuck,” but mostly doesn’t. Also too sad to kabedon.
Kamijou Mutsuki: would say “fuck” to get someone’s attention. He wishes he could kabedon.
Kurihara Amane: is in so much trouble with her mother for saying “fuck.”
Hibiki
Hibiki/Hidaka Hitoshi: is An Dad, and thus is theoretically capable of saying “fuck,” but if he does then it means the situation’s gotten pretty serious. (Or he’s hit his thumb with a hammer.) He can definitely kabedon, but we’ll never see him do it, because that means the situation’s gotten a different kind of serious.
Ibuki: has too much self-control and dignity to say “fuck,” but said it when he was younger. Doesn’t kabedon because it’s just...not the right vibe for him.
Todoroki: has considered saying “fuck,” but the prospect makes him blush. Cannot kabedon to save his life but desperately wishes that he could.
Zanki: comfortable with the word “fuck” but uses it sparingly. Doesn’t seem like a kabedon type.
The Children: Asumu, Kyosuke, and Akira can all definitely say “fuck” just by dint of being high schoolers brimming with all kinds of messy emotions. Kyosuke would definitely attempt to kabedon someone, although he might not do it well.
The Tachibana Sisters: anyone who runs a restaurant can say “fuck.”
Kabuki: like Miyuki, above, is included because I adore him, even though he’s a movie-exclusive character. Definitely says “fuck.” Might kabedon in the process of tricking someone, but wouldn’t do it seriously.
Kabuto
Tendou Souji: feels that saying “fuck” is beneath him. Wouldn’t kabedon so much as he’d very gently brace himself against the wall and lean in, which, let’s be real, is much sexier.
Tendou Juka: you know that comic that people have done all those redraws of? I think this one is the original? This is an accurate representation of what would happen to someone, possibly Kagami, if Juka said “fuck.”
Kagami Arata: is all the time saying “fuck,” at least in his head, but doesn’t often say it out loud because it would draw the wrong kind of attention. Would kabedon Souji, probably, who would be surprised and then quietly delighted.
Kusakabe Hiyori: unlikely to say “fuck,” and if she did I suspect Tendou would take it badly (see above entry for Juka). Might be kabedon’ed, but would definitely knee the perpetrator in the groin.
Kamishiro Tsurugi: my beautiful son does not know what the word “fuck” means, but would definitely kabedon because he’s excitable.
Yaguruma Sou and Kageyama Shun: get one line because they do things together--imagine, if you will, Yaguruma saying “fuck” and Kageyama echoing him quietly a moment later. They would also kabedon together.
Kazama Daisuke: would say “fuck” very quietly. Does not kabedon.
Den-O
Nogami Ryotaro: cannot say any swear words without suffering a potentially fatal nosebleed. May have kabedon’ed once in a dream, but the thought of him attempting it in real life is actually laughable.
Hana: says “fuck” as an adult. As a child, says it more. Does not kabedon, because why bother?
Naomi: can do whatever she likes and I will support her.
Momotaros: says “fuck” regularly and with gusto. Kabedons as a greeting.
Urataros: does not use any curse words because women find them off-putting--unless the woman he’s with swears, in which case he does too. Will kabedon if it is situationally appropriate for getting laid.
Ryuutaros: see, again, this comic, but this time the person doing the shocked face and then later the punching is me. He does not know what a kabedon is.
Kintaros: is probably asleep. Believes that excessive swearing is unmanly. Doesn’t see the point of kabedon.
Sieg: believes that excessive swearing is unfit for a prince, but will very occasionally say “fuck” if it’ll get every eye in the room on him. Unaware of kabedon.
Kiva
Kurenai Wataru: does not.
Kurenai Otoya: does both, vigorously.
Asou Megumi: says “fuck,” doesn’t kabedon. Would encourage someone else to kabedon her though.
Asou Yuri: absolutely says “fuck” all the time, might kabedon Otoya to shut him up.
Jirou: I actually don’t think he swears? Definitely kabedons though.
Nago Keisuke: says “fuck,” but feels bad about it afterwards. Might kabedon from anger, or if induced to by Megumi.
Nobori Taiga: is far too polite to say “fuck,” but occasionally thinks it. Does not kabedon.
Decade
Kadoya Tsukasa: there is no question that he says “fuck” all the time. Not the romantic kabedon type, much to Daiki’s disappointment. May kabedon in other situations, though.
Kaitou Daiki: says “fuck” only occasionally, but with feeling. Would like Tsukasa to kabedon him.
Hikari Natsumi: says “fuck” regularly and energetically. Will sit on Yuusuke’s shoulders to kabedon Tsukasa.
Onodera Yuusuke: does not say “fuck” at all. Cannot kabedon because he is too busy giving Natsumi a boost.
W
Hidari Shoutaro: believes that saying “fuck” is unbecoming of a true man, but still says it if he stubs his toe. Kabedons unintentionally and then blushes when he realizes what he’s done.
Philip: has said “fuck” a total of once and then went down a rabbit hole looking into its etymology. Kabedons intentionally and with forethought, and then completely loses the thread of things as soon as Shoutaro starts blushing.
Narumi Akiko: says “fuck” just to shock Shoutaro. Definitely kabedon’ed Terui at least once, which he was unspeakably charmed by.
Terui Ryuu: is not open to questions about whether or not he says “fuck.” Only kabedons out of frustration.
OOO
Hino Eiji: neither says “fuck” nor kabedons.
Ankh: both says “fuck” and kabedons, and both are generally directed at Eiji. In fact, since he is only a hand, kabedon is an important part of his physical vocabulary.
Izumi Hina: does not say “fuck.” Would break a wall if she kabedon’ed, and thus it’s fortunate that she isn’t inclined to anyway.
Gotou Shintarou: would blush terribly if he ever said “fuck,” or for that matter if he attempted to kabedon.
Satonaka Erika: considers the word “fuck” an important part of her vocabulary, to be used sparingly. Kabedons Gotou, and at least once Date.
Date Akira: says “fuck,” but not in, like, an aggressive way? Just as an expression of mild distress. It does not occur to him to kabedon.
Fourze
Kisaragi Gentarou: is not legally allowed to say rude words. Would kabedon out of an excess of enthusiasm and then be deeply confused if the recipient blushed.
Sakuta Ryuusei: says “fuck” sparingly and only when it’ll have an impact. Does not kabedon.
Utahoshi Kengo: says “fuck” frequently and with enthusiasm. Doesn’t see the point of kabedon.
Jojima Yuuki: like Gentarou, is not legally permitted to curse. Kabedon would not occur to her unless it could be some way related to space.
Kazashiro Miu: says “fuck” occasionally. Kabedons when appropriate, which is rarely.
Daimonji Shun: wishes he could say “fuck,” but can’t quite bring himself to.  Doesn’t kabedon anymore, but he used to.
JK: only says “fuck” deniably. Strictly a receiver of kabedon.
Nozama Tomoko: doesn’t use curse words, she uses curses. Doesn’t kabedon, but appreciates it when she sees others do it.
Wizard
Souma Haruto: definitely says “fuck” sometimes. Prefers a flirtatious lean against a convenient wall over kabedon.
Nitoh Kosuke: says "fuck," but only if his grandma can't hear him--unless there's a notable archeological discovery in the offing, in which case all bets are off. Thinks he's too slick to kabedon, but he's not.
Fueki Koyomi: no.
Nara Shunpei: absolutely not.
Daimon Rinko: has said "fuck" on occasion and would certainly do it again. I can't imagine a kabedon from her though.
Gaim
Kazuraba Kouta: seems like he secretly swears kind of a lot. Does not kabedon because he is, at base, a deeply non-aggressive individual.
Kumon Kaito: says "fuck" at least once a day. Absolutely kabedons, but mainly because he's annoyed and slapping a person seems tactically unsound.
Kureshima Mitsuzane (Micchi): says "fuck" to sound edgy. Would like to kabedon but no one would take it seriously.
Kureshima Takatora: will use the word "fuck" sparingly, and only to indicate that The Situation Has Gotten Bad Indeed. Does not know what kabedon is.
Sengoku Ryouma: says "fuck" occasionally, and with malicious good cheer. Does not kabedon, but if he would like to give it a shot, I am available.
Takatsukasa Mai: says "fuck" quietly but with frequency. Doesn't see a good reason to kabedon anyone.
Oren Pierre Alfonso: only swears in French. Dismisses kabedon as a thing for callow youths, but despite this he did once have a heated dream of doing it to Takatora.
Drive
Tomari Shinnosuke: says "fuck" if he's hit his leg on a table or something, but in more serious situations he does not curse. I cannot possibly imagine him trying to kabedon, it's impossible.
Shijima Kiriko: doesn't swear as much as one might think; "fuck" is for special occasions. Will use a kabedon to get someone's attention.
Shijima Gou: says "fuck" all the time. Would like to kabedon, but hasn't found the right person yet.
Chase: does not swear. Does not kabedon--he's interested in human behavior but that's just nonsense.
Sawagami Rinna: is a professional engineer and thus uses the word “fuck” as punctuation. Might kabedon, but it’s unlikely.
Mr. Belt/Krim Steinbelt: mutters “fuck” quietly when Shinnosuke isn’t paying attention. Does not have arms.
Heart: has said "fuck" experimentally but didn't like the mouthfeel. Delighted by the very concept of kabedon but hasn't done it yet.
Brain: believes that swearing is a sign that you have nothing constructive, intelligent, or amusing to say. Provided Heart with the comics from which they both learned about kabedon, and since then the thought of Heart doing it to him has occupied his every waking moment.
Medic: has thought about saying "fuck" but isn't sure that she really wants to. Stole those comics from Brain and now she, too, would like Heart to kabedon.
Ghost
Tenkuuji Takeru: the thought of saying “fuck” has genuinely never entered his head. More someone who is kabedon’ed than someone who does it himself.
Fukami Makoto: can theoretically say “fuck,” but mostly doesn’t. Would maybe kabedon if the moment seemed appropriate.
Alain: thinks saying “fuck” is sort of uncouth but does it anyway. Wants to know what kabedon is, please tell him about it.
Tsukimura Akari: does not get enough sleep or lab time for anyone to be able to stop her from saying “fuck.” Has kabedon’ed out of excitement, but never for romantic reasons.
Yamanouchi Onari: tries not to say “fuck” because he’s supposed to be setting a good example, but sometimes it just slips out. Definitely doesn’t kabedon, but that’s more out of cowardice than a sense of restraint.
Fukami Kanon: see the comic previously linked to for reference for what would happen if Makoto found out that someone had taught Kanon how to say “fuck.” Reads comics in which there is the occasional kabedon, kind of wishes Alain would do it.
Ex-Aid
Hojo Emu: doesn’t say “fuck” because he works with children. Doesn’t kabedon because it’s not his style.
Parad: absolutely says “fuck,” if only to see Emu drop something in surprise. Thinks kabedon looks fun.
Kagami Hiiro: is too uptight to say “fuck” and too shy to kabedon.
Kujou Kiriya: uses “fuck” as an expression of low-key dismay. Does his best flirting from across the room, but might kabedon if it seemed like the reaction would be entertaining.
Hanaya Taiga: barely even thinks of “fuck” as a word, it’s just a noise he makes when he’s annoyed. Kabedon’ing would require him to get much closer to people than he wants to.
Dan Kuroto: definitely says “fuck,” are you kidding? Even before he was a cackling supervillain he was, at least partially, a software engineer. Does not kabedon.
Poppy Pipopapo: no.
Saiba Nico: says “fuck” all the time as long as Taiga’s not looking. Will not admit to reading the kind of comics where a kabedon might occur, but definitely does.
Graphite: thinks all of this is human nonsense and yet is, despite himself, intrigued.
Build
Kiryuu Sento: probably says “fuck” more than any other main Rider. Yes, even Tsukasa. Is kabedon’ed.
Banjou Ryuuga: says “fuck” because MMA guys have foul mouths, although he did clean up his language a bit when Kasumi was still alive. Kabedons.
Isurugi Misora: if Misora says “fuck” then something terrible is about to happen. Would laugh at anyone who asked if she knew how to kabedon. Would knee anyone who tried it on her in the groin. Kazumi knows this well.
Takigawa Sawa: considers the word “fuck” an essential part of her vocabulary, to be used frequently and sometimes at a great volume. Knows how to kabedon due to spy training but does not use it in her personal life.
Sawatari Kazumi: says “fuck” all the time, unless Misora is paying attention to him. Thinks that kabedon is very sexy and that he’s very good at it; mileage may vary on whether this is actually true.
Himuro Gentoku: says “fuck” softly and solemnly when something really bad has happened. Maybe he kabedons, I’m genuinely not sure.
Evolt: probably does both, but I’m not getting close enough to check.
Zi-O
Tokiwa Sougo: doesn’t swear because it’s not kingly. Does not kabedon.
Myoukouin Geiz: surprisingly, does not tend to curse. Definitely kabedons, not always romantically.
Woz: doesn’t say “fuck,” because there are more roundabout ways to express his frustration. Kabedons, sometimes for romantic reasons and sometimes just to be weird about things.
Tsukuyomi: specifically uses the word “fuck” to indicate that things have gotten serious. If Geiz isn’t going to get around to kabedon’ing her, she’s going to do it to him.
Zero-One
Hiden Aruto: look obviously I can’t really comment on these characters because I haven’t watched that show yet but just from the clips I’ve seen I think Aruto would spontaneously combust if he said “fuck.”
Saber
Kamiyama Touma: says “fuck” sometimes, especially if he’s very tired. Thinks kabedon is kind of a tired plot device.
Sudou Mei: doesn’t think saying “fuck” is that big of a deal, uses it to express irritation. Agrees with Touma that kabedon is overused as a plot device, but likes it nonetheless.
Shindo Rintarou: oh my god no, definitely not.
Fukamiya Kento: uses the word “fuck” the way other people might use the word “moist”--it’s not a word he likes to say, but it has its place. Not generally aggressive enough to kabedon, but might if it seemed useful.
Akamichi Ren: is a teen edgelord and thus says “fuck” a lot. Talks a big game, but is secretly too shy for a successful kabedon.
Ogami Ryo: has tried to clean up his language since becoming a dad and been pretty successful with it. Doesn’t kabedon anymore, but did once.
Daishinji Tetsuo: says “fuck” when he’s working on things. Kabedon generally involves prolonged eye contact, so no.
Sophia: good heavens no, can you imagine?
Tassel: might be a divinity of some kind, can swear if he wants although he’d probably do it in French, but if he kabedons then I’m a walrus. I love Tassel.
All right, that’s Kamen Rider done! Now on to...
Super Sentai
AkaRed: if AkaRed ever said “fuck” I think something in the multiverse would be profoundly damaged--oh, hell, this is how Zenkaiger happens, isn’t it?
Dairanger
Ryo of the Heavenly Fire Star: doesn’t say “fuck,” but you might when you taste his gyoza. They’re the best in the world, you know. It has never occurred to him to kabedon.
Daigo of the Heavenly Illusion Star: is too gentle to say “fuck,” or for that matter to kabedon. (Besides, anyone who tries to kabedon Kujaku is going to be in for some difficulty.)
Bullet Shoji, Warrior of Love: used to say “fuck,” because he used to be in a gang, but doesn’t anymore. Doesn’t kabedon because he tries not to intimidate people.
Kazu of the Heavenly Time Star: doesn’t say “fuck,” he just kinda makes a hiss noise if he’s irritated. Doesn’t object to kabedon in theory but not interested in doing it himself.
Rin of the Heavenly Wind Star: does sometimes say “fuck,” much to her uncle’s dismay. Does not kabedon.
Kou of the Howling New Star: is a horrible child and says “fuck” regularly. Too immature to be allowed to kabedon.
Kakuranger
Tsuruhime: does not say “fuck,” because if she’s mad she can just smack someone. She is fairly sure that people don’t actually kabedon in real life.
Sasuke: has said “fuck” once or twice but mostly tries not to. Too friendly to kabedon.
Saizou and Seikai: get one line because they’re attached at the hip. They are too goofy to say “fuck,” and would only ever manage to kabedon each other.
Jiraiya: not only does he say “fuck,” he will actually be saying “fuck” and not a Japanese equivalent, because he is more comfortable speaking English. I cannot imagine this man attempting to kabedon.
Ninjaman: is tremendously excited to learn about modern cursing, but never actually uses the words he’s learned because his teachers would be mad at him. Naturally too large to practice safe kabedon.
Hurricaneger
Please know that I’m not very far into this series yet, so this is based on fairly early impressions.
Shiina Yousuke: does not say “fuck” but often wants to. Doesn’t kabedon because it seems really aggressive, especially if you’re trying to kiss someone.
Nono Nanami: sometimes thinks the word “fuck” but doesn’t say it. While she’s read a few comics which contain kabedon, the thought of putting the concept into practice has never occurred to her.
Bitou Kouta: would never say “fuck” because children might hear him. Doesn’t kabedon because he’s a gentle soul.
Kasumi Ikkou and Kasumi Isshu: I just met these boys last night but I know in my heart that they both say “fuck,” and moreover they mean it. They also definitely kabedon.
Furabijo and Wendinu: can call me, please, I’m apocalyptically in love with you both.
Gekiranger
Same as Hurricaneger--I’m not that far in, we don’t even have the extra guys yet, but I sure do have some thoughts about the folks we’ve got so far.
Kando Jan: doesn’t even know the word “fuck,” probably has some cute repetitive term for sex that he uses instead. Doesn’t know what a kabedon is either.
Uzaki Ran: may say “fuck” very occasionally if she sustains an injury during training. Not inclined to kabedon.
Fukami Retsu: will pretend that he’s too in control of himself to swear, but does on occasion say “fuck.” Sees no reason to kabedon.
Mele: says “fuck,” but never when Leo can hear her. Doesn’t kabedon, would like someone else (*coughcoughLeocoughcough*) to do so though.
Leo: says “fuck” like he’s chewing on something and spitting it out. Definitely kabedons, but has no idea that this might have romantic or sexual implications.
Shinkenger
Shiba Takeru: does not say “fuck” anymore, because once he said it in front of Jii, who lost his mind. Could kabedon, he’s capable of it, but he’s a little too wound up in himself.
Ikenami Ryunosuke: would never say “fuck.” Not a kabedon type because it seems rude.
Shiraishi Mako: used to work with children, and thus didn’t say “fuck” for years, but now does occasionally--mainly while cooking. Doesn’t kabedon because she has other ways of getting in your face.
Tani Chiaki: is a Gamer and thus definitely says “fuck.” Nonetheless, respects women too much to kabedon them and the only men he might kabedon he is slightly afraid of.
Hanaori Kotoha: is a sweet, precious girl, very dear to my heart, who certainly does not swear or kabedon.
Umemori Genta: only says “fuck” if he cuts himself while preparing fish, or while arguing with fish vendors. Might kabedon to be goofy, but never seriously.
Kusakabe Hikoma/Jii: definitely had kind of a wild youth. Takeru once heard him say “fuck” to a kuroko while working on the clan accounts and has never recovered from the shock. Doesn’t kabedon anymore, but he did once.
Shiba Kaoru: doesn’t actually know the word “fuck” or anything about kabedon, and isn’t going to learn if Tanba has anything to say about it.
Gokaiger--one of the ones I’m sure you’ve all been waiting for
Captain Marvelous: I think we all know that the answer is yes on both counts.
Joe Gibken: says “fuck” quietly in serious situations, and loudly if Marvelous is deliberately getting on his nerves. Does not typically kabedon.
Luka Millfy: uses “fuck” as a general intensifier. Likes guys she can intimidate a little, so she does kabedon, but she mainly does it to Doc and Gai.
Don Dogoier/Doc: if you hear Doc say “fuck” it’s probably the middle of the night and he’s repairing an engine problem. Certainly does not kabedon.
Ahim de Famille: cursing is unladylike--not that she always tries to be ladylike, but she just doesn’t see the point there. Doesn’t kabedon.
Ikari Gai: probably uses some sort of goofy minced oath like “fudge” unless in the actual throes of passion. Doesn’t really have the poise to kabedon.
Basco ta Jolokia: only says “fuck” when no one is listening, because otherwise he might seem less than poised. Would kabedon Marvelous to get a rise out of him.
Go-Busters
Sakurada Hiromu: seems like he’d probably drop the occasional “fuck.” I’m of two minds on the kabedon thing; I think that he could, but I’m not sure that he would.
Iwasaki Ryuji: says “fuck” if he’s working late on some problem. Doesn’t kabedon because he doesn’t want to scare people.

Nick, Gorisaki, and Usada: no, definitely not.
Masato Jin: says “fuck” with the casual manner of a man who has definitely not just dropped a wrench on his foot. Doesn’t kabedon, but has joked about doing so.
Beet J. Stag (the “J” stands for “Jueki”): says “fuck,” but doesn’t know what it means. Who would he even kabedon?
Enter: only swears in French. Would kabedon with one of his creepy tentacles.
Kyouryuger
Kiryuu Daigo “King”: is a ludicrously perfect shoujo manga love interest, and thus does not say “fuck” but does kabedon in a sexy way.
Ian Yorkland: says “fuck” on dig sites but not in polite company. Might kabedon if it’d make the girl in question smile, does not kabedon men.

Rippukan Souji: is too uptight to do either.
Amy Yuzuki: doesn’t say “fuck,” just makes irritated noises. Might kabedon if it would get someone to stop screwing around and pay attention to her.

Candelira and Luckyuro: my beautiful wife and her adorable son have no knowledge of these things.
ToQger

Nijino Akira: doesn’t know the word “fuck,” but if he did he’d use it. Doesn’t know about kabedon either, and wouldn’t use it if he did, because that involves getting way too close to people.
Wagon: much like Smart Lady, would kabedon with her leg, but in her case she’s trying to be cute and fun, not creepy. Does not say “fuck.”
Emperor Zett: can in theory say “fuck,” but hasn’t found an occasion to do so. Would kabedon to intimidate, I think he’d kinda puff up like a little angry wren.
Jyuohger
Kazakiri Yamato: will only say “fuck” if he’s just been bitten by an animal he’s taking care of, and even then only if it really hurts. Doesn’t kabedon.
Sera: doesn’t say “fuck” because there’s always something more cutting available. Would bite anyone who kabedon’ed her.
Leo: says “fuck” as long as there are no girls listening. Has been bitten by Sera at least once as punishment for kabedon crimes.
Tusk: says “fuck” about paper cuts, but nothing else. Doesn’t kabedon.

Spada: only says “fuck” in the kitchen, where he can say whatever he pleases, grazie. Could be kabedon’ed.
Balance: says “fuck” if he’s panicking, but only then. Might kabedon for fun.
Naaga Rei: doesn’t do either, and would be terribly puzzled if someone kabedon’ed him.
Shou Ronpou: said “fuck” once when he got his finger caught in the Kyuulette. Isn’t familiar with kabedon, but thinks it looks fun.
Kotaro: is ten years old.
Ootori Tsurugi: doesn’t say “fuck” because it’s not grandiose enough. Definitely kabedons, we see him do it at least once in the show.
LupinRanger Vs. PatRanger
Asaka Keiichiro:  might say “fuck” if he’s really angry, but would feel bad about it. Would blush if he kabedon’ed Kairi, but would still do it.

Myoujin Tsukasa: could potentially say “fuck,” but chooses not to. Not a kabedon type.

Takao Noël: only swears in French, but does so in extensive and exacting detail. Kabedons, but in a chill way.
Zamigo Delma: thinks the word “fuck” is extremely funny. Would kabedon Kairi to make him uncomfortable, but if Kairi’s unavailable then he’s welcome to look me up.
Ryusoulger
Koh: has never said a swear in his entire life. Doesn’t kabedon.
Melto: says “fuck” often, but quietly, so that the others don’t hear him. Seems kabedon’able to me.
Asuna: doesn’t actually know the word “fuck.” Wouldn’t kabedon, like, on purpose? But she’d definitely do it unintentionally, please see this comic for reference.
Towa: will say “fuck” sometimes if his brother won’t catch him at it. Overconfident enough to kabedon, but I don’t think it’d occur to him.
Banba: says “fuck” if things have gotten very bad. Kabedons only rarely, when he needs to be very serious about something. Yes, sometimes that something is “I think about kissing you with such frequency that it’s interfering with my ability to focus.”
Canalo: doesn’t say “fuck” because Mosa Rex would be disappointed in him. Would never kabedon, if he even knows what that is, due to his overpowering Respect for Women. (It has never occurred to him that one might kabedon anyone but a woman.)
Oto: might say “fuck,” and if she did then Canalo would specifically blame Melto.
Nada: uses “fuck” as an expression of dismay, like, “well, fuck.” Not into the whole kabedon thing.
Tatsui Ui: might have said “fuck” once, but then was so embarrassed that she got a case of hysterical giggles. Absolutely does not kabedon.
Super Sentai is done! That was exhausting! Wow! On to...
Ultra Series
I have seen very few Ultra shows, so this section’s gonna be short.
Orb
Kurenai Gai: doesn’t say “fuck,” does curse in some kind of alien language. Doesn’t kabedon, I bet it’d make him blush, although mostly he doesn’t seem like the blushing type either.
Jugglus Juggler: says “fuck” regularly and with relish. Was once described by someone very wise as having “big kabedon energy,” which is to say, of course he does.
Yumeno Naomi: definitely says “fuck” and doesn’t care who hears her. Will kabedon Gai and Juggler simultaneously, one with each hand, and they will both be impressed and maybe a little turned on.
Hayami Jetta: says “fuck” sometimes, but not as frequently as he’d like people to think. Might try to kabedon, although he wouldn’t necessarily succeed at it.
Matsudo Shin: does neither of these things, as they have no relevance to science.
Geed
I can’t really say much about Geed, since we’re not even ten episodes in, but what I can say for certain is:
Asakura Riku: is too nice a boy to say “fuck” and not intense enough to kabedon.
Toba Laiha: definitely says “fuck” on occasion. Would kabedon with her sword.
Pega: is a child.
Igaguri Leito: does neither of these things, he is a sweet man. And I think Zero would disapprove.
Fukuide Kei: says “fuck” with frequency. I think he would, theoretically, kabedon, but there’s no one on Earth he’d do it to.
Belial: I haven’t actually, like, met Belial, but I’m fairly sure his existence is a concentrated dose of the word “fuck,” in the sense of, “oh, fuck, it’s Belial.” If he kabedon’ed he could destroy the planet, please do not let him.
R/B
I’m even less far into R/B, since I’m watching it by myself.
Minato Katsumi and Minato Isami: they do not.
Aizen Makoto: is too weird to do either of these things.
All right, we’re done with the brief foray into the Ultras. Now, last but very much not least, we have...
Garo
Of which I have only watched the original continuity, none of the Ryuuga stuff yet, so it’s a slightly limited take. However, I love all of these characters dearly, so here we go!
Saejima Kouga: is way too upright (and uptight) to say “fuck.” Doesn’t know what kabedon is, wouldn’t do it if he did.
Suzumura Rei: is a man who swears colorfully and at length and uses “fuck” to add a little bit of pep to things. Definitely kabedons, with varying levels of success depending on who he’s trying it on.
Fudou Leo: is a soft-spoken man, but nevertheless does occasionally mutter “fuck” quietly when he’s working on a Madou device. Blushes and stammers at the very suggestion of kabedon.
Mitsuki Kaoru: might say “fuck,” but only in the absolute heights of fury, which are rare for her. Not inclined to kabedon, but even if she was, who could she even do it to? The shortest person she might kabedon is Rei, who is seven inches taller than her, and it only gets worse from there. She’d need a boost to reach, and my dude Gonza’s back is not good enough for that.
Jabi: believes too strongly in the value of language well-used to say “fuck” except when absolutely necessary. Could kabedon with her leg, probably, and would if she thought it’d be useful.
Rekka: says “fuck” sometimes, mostly to express irritation. Most likely to kabedon with a knife or something.
Saejima Raiga, Mayuri, and Crow: I only barely know these kids but I adore them. None of them are allowed to do any cursing. They do not kabedon.
Madou Ring Zaruba: is a ring, so obviously he can’t kabedon, but he can say “fuck,” and I think sometimes he does.
The Moral Of This Story Is: never ask me for a comprehensive list of anything, because I cannot be trusted to do anything but go completely overboard.

Little thoughts on Keiko’s impressions on various characters (not specific to any portrayals, ofc) because I’ve been talking about it with Cryptic on Discord:
Yuuji: would die for him and also kill for him. Yeah she thinks he’s stupid and weird for eating a cursed object but (eventually) she’s out here working with a curse for revenge and probable murder so what room does she have to judge??? thinks he’s sweet anyway even if she makes fun of him. Megumi: he intimidates her but she thinks he’s cool. wants to pet and hold all the shikigami. also looks up to him and admires him but you didn’t hear that from her. Nobara: keiko adores her and that is all there is to it! maybe she has a lil bit of a thing for her but it’s keiko so she herself probably doesn’t get that. stans nobara though. she’s a queen. Gojou: neither likes nor dislikes him?? respects him though. he’s just a little too loud for her liking, please spare her. also she’s scared of him the most when it comes to her binding vow/working w a curse.  Yaga: he’s like a dad/uncle kind of figure and she really likes his cursed corpses. wants to hold one. Nanami: absolute respect but he intimidates her too  Maki: also stans. but she’s kind of like megumi in that she intimidates keiko but she really admires her! would like to spend more time with her Toge: one that she isn’t so secretive about admiring/looking up to. wants to be like him! friends? tiny crush?? i don’t know but keiko has the social skills of a dead rat so good luck to her ig Panda: big and soft and warm. she actually opens up to him pretty easily. Yuuta: she’d probably be into him if she met him before he went abroad and she’s definitely curious about him from the way megumi and the second-years talk about him. would have been a little baby crush maybe??? but now with recent developments it’s more ‘you scare me but also fuck you i’m gonna throw hands if you come for yuuji’. and since she’s already been declared a curse user lined up for execution anyway, what’s the harm in doing exactly that??? Mai: keiko vc: stupid pretty zenin,,,, kinda wants to deck her for what she said about yuuji on their first meeting but is working on opening up to her again Todo: actually isn’t scared of him?? somehow??? but that’s probably first out of pure spite for their first meeting and then because yuuji said ‘oh he’s cool’ so she let it go Noritoshi: this one scares her! you’d actually for once see her visibly nervous and fidget-y around him Miwa: thinks she’s sweet and adorable, would probably be friends with her if given the chance Momo: also thinks she’s adorable but her attitude rubs keiko the wrong way so presently she’s kinda indifferent to her Kokichi: would also probably be friends w him if given the chance, and is admittedly curious about him Getou: keiko vc: fuck you and all the things you stand for, give my mother back Mahito: the literal worst she hates him the most Nanako & Mimiko: would love them and kinda hates that they’re running with Getou
Bonus under a cut bc OCs are canon in my fuckin house:
Kitiara / @needlxd: thinks she’s a badass, kindred spirits, wants to visit kyoto tech almost solely for her Hibiki / @muekura: parent unit. hitomi and shinji simply do not exist. Emiko / @yuugxn: kinda wants to kick her ass, but also tell her that she doesn’t have to hold herself to family standards bc look at all that got the hyodo family. stop limiting yourself woman keiko only wants to help Yasu / @yuugxn: literally the last bit of actual blood-related family she has but she doesn’t even know it until she’s already slated for execution??? keiko vc: bitch why didn’t you tell me sooner maybe i wouldn’t have started a murder campaign against what turned out to be my mother??? but also i love you  Tomeika / @eyescrsd: hates them, and then cares a lot about them, firmly believes they ruined her life in more ways than one but in the end at least she did her job??? would actually die for them by choice now though Getsumei / @anathxma: wants nothing more than to see him dead for all he’s done and is livid she didn’t get to do it personally. somehow only hates him slightly less than mahito, despite everything. it’s still hate with every fiber of her being though, and boy did she have a manic laughing fit when iyu dropped in to kill him herself.

Keita, Izumi, Haruka, and Tadakatsu!
Thank you, P! I’ll do Keita first and then put the rest in a Read More, since these posts got a bit longer than I expected. And since I love all four of these babs, I’m sure it won’t be any shorter.
Keita Iijima
How I feel about this character
Considering he’s my url... I think he’s a good lil bean.  We don’t really know THAT much about him in canon, other than the fact he likes coke (the drink), he’s a coward and he actually has enough trust in Shinji and Yutaka to reach out to them during the Program, even continuing to approach them when Shinji has a gun and Keita doesn’t have a way of defending himself. Because even though he’s a coward, he had to take a chance on the people he considers to be his friends, to accept him and invite him along. He was scared and desperate and he just didn’t want to be alone anymore. Well, we all know how that ended, ey. A LOT of my Keita feels are pure crack and I HC him as an annoying dumbass who makes lots of mistakes but ultimately never has bad intentions. But I also have these real Keita feels about how he died feeling lonely and rejected and confused, turned away by the people he thought he could trust and who he didn’t know didn’t trust him in return.
Short summary: I love Keita.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Keita/Shinji
I won’t be taking any questions at this time... Ok, look, Shinji/Keita has always been a bit of a crack ship for me. Mostly based on the fact that I HC Keita as being a big Shinji fanboy who just follows him around and is totally oblivious to the fact that Shinji is not that into it. I think he, someone obviously not that cool (no offence, Keita), would admire Shinji’s coolness and confidence and all his abilities in sports and tech etc. Shinji on the other hand, especially after what happened that day they went to the movies + comic book store, would just constantly will Keita to go away. I think Shinji’s bitterness and grudge about what happened is also so out of proportion, he even tells himself he knows Keita is a coward and shouldn’t expect his help, but he still gets all cold and pushes him away after. You totally know he would ghost his ass compeltely if they didn’t have mutual friends. And Keita is just in his own little “Lala Shinji is awesome”-world and doesn’t even notice. There’s something about how I HC their dynamic and a one-sided crush from Keita that I just love.
Keita/Yuka
This one is purely fan-based due to the dynamic they developed in an old RP, but which I could see working in canon as well, thanks to both of them (at least how I see Keita) are pretty upbeat and positive and kinda dumbasses. I can’t see them get super serious but I think they could be tons of fun and get up to some weird and annoying pranks.
Keita/Yumiko Back in 2004, when I was 12, I read BR for the first time and I drew my own little manga centered around Keita in the Program. In my cartoon, Yumiko was his ex, and he was looking for her. I don’t know why. I don’t know how. I stand by it. That’s all.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Keita/Yutaka The little nerds of the Neutral Boys group. I think they both joke around a lot and don’t get serious until things are really fucking serious. In the novel, Yutaka was shocked that Shinji didn’t trust Keita and refused to let him join them, and after Shinji kills Keita, it’s when Yutaka starts to question everything about Shinji’s motivations with him too. Not knowing the history with Shinji/Keita, Yutaka himself had obviously considered Keita someone trustworthy, and a good friend. And where as in the novel, Yutaka kinda questions why someone as cool as Shinji would hang out with him, you know he would never have to question this with Keita... Who isn’t cool at all, lets be real.
·         My unpopular opinion about this character
I’ve seen a lot of people villainising Keita and I just don’t get it. Not necessarily disagreeing with whether or not Shinji was right to shoot him, because I can see where in a matter of life and death, Shinji would have just not be able to risk it (not only his life, but Yutaka’s too). But in the end, Shinji even knows he made a mistake when they find no other weapon on Keita, so I think it’s weird when the fanbase paint Keita as this asshole. Yeah Keita was wrong not to get help for Shinji and he was possibly even more wrong for lying about it after, but you know what… He’s a coward. He chooses the easy way out, that lazy bastard. Good for him. I still think if Shinji was that bothered by the whole situation, then he should have talked to him about it instead of pretending everything was fine only to shoot him straight in the heart.
So I guess my unpopular opinion is… I know Keita is a dumb coward but I love him anyway and Shinji could have handled it better too.
·         One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
Again, not dying would be great. I would love it if Shinji had heard him out and actually let him prove that he didn’t have any other weapon. Though I’m sure if Shinji had let him join them, Keita would have found some great way to fuck up the plan later anyway, bless.
. Izumi Kanai
How I feel about this character
My other baby. Izumi has zero lines and all we know about her is told to us by others, and to be honest, it was Yutaka who first made me fall in love with her, with his depiction of what “made her so great,” as Shinji asked. I love that she’s rich and from a good family but still not stuck up. I love that she easily cries when fucking up, like at the relay, because same. I love how she laughs until she cries when listening to Yuka’s jokes, showing she has a great sense of humour and isn’t afraid of showing her own emotions in public (whether it’s laughing or crying). Finally,  although I had been a fan of Izumi for 10 + years by the time Angel’s Border was released, she really dug her nails deeper into my heart by being one of the two girls who went to Chisato’s brother’s funeral. It says even more about her considering Chisato’s brother was suspected of taking part in a rebel group and this is why he killed himself, while Izumi’s father is the town official and would probably definitely disapprove of her support of that. So she’s clearly also a caring and supportive friend.
I guess I kinda like the mystery of us never seeing anything from her POV, where we have to put together the pieces of information from the others. It also leaves for a lot of blanks to be filled by headcanons and personal interpretations. Which I love.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Izumi/Mitsuru
Who doesn’t love a bad boy/good girl? I know I do. Mitsuru finding Izumi’s body and being so startled by It (in the Norwegian translation he kinda stutteres “S-She, Kanai…”, and it’s adorable), as he notes to himself how she was kind of cute but he would never be stupid enough to develop a crush on her, considering their different backgrounds… Aah. To me it always sounded like he already HAD been “stupid enough” to develop a crush on her. And considering Izumi, despite being rich, is also described as being down to earth, I don’t think she would find it stupid at all. We know Mitsuru is also described by Yumiko as not being that bad of a guy and always being kind to girls, so I just picture him holding doors open and helping girls carry things around if needed, like a gentleman. How could Izumi not fall for that? The bad boy with a heart of gold is just irresistible.
Izumi/Toshinori
Another pairing that’s developed in the fandom and is probably more of an in-joke, but they are the two rich kids in the class ( don’t count Kiriyama as a person, sorry), and whilst Toshinori is super judgemental and dismissive of all his “vulgar classmates”, I really like the idea of Izumi’s class and family being factors in how he can’t judge her the same way, but then her kindness also touches something in his cold heart, opening up the possibility that he could love something other than his violin and salt… And it would literally be like The Princess and the Frog. That’s just too good.
Izumi/Yutaka
I think there was a point in my life where I actually shipped this harder than Izumi/Mitsuru, so I still want to pay my respects to it. Like mentioned, Yutaka’s speech about Izumi is what made me first fall in love  with her too. He is so committed to her, her death is what leaves him with no doubt that he wants to give his all and fight against Sakimochi and the government, despite the very high probability that he would die in the process. The way he talks about her is so touching, and like Shinji said, he could probably be a poet rather than a comedian. Again, quoting Shinji, I think Izumi would really appreciate knowing someone cared for her as much as Yutaka did. He’s so sweet and they’d definitely be super cute together
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Izumi/Yukie+Chisato+Yuka
I could probably have just said Izumi and the Neutral girls, but these are the three I consider she would be the closest to.I kinda HC Izumi/Yukie as having a similar background, where as Yukie isn’t mentioned as being rich in the same way, her father still works for the government. Yukie clearly presses back against what her father/the government are doing, and I think down-to-earth Izumi would have similar problems with it. I think these two + Chisato are the girliest ones of the group and would enjoy shopping trips and late night sleepovers, where they gossip all night (Yuka can join for this, you know that girl loves the tea!!) Chisato is also the one girl who mentions Izumi’s death (thanks girl, you’re a real G), and the whole thing about Izumi going to her brother’s funeral to support her, that I’ve already talked about. As for Yuka, she clearly knows how to make Izumi laugh, and that’s one of the most important parts of a friendship. I think they could be very silly and cute together.  I also think  (I base this a little bit on the manga and some of the lines there), that these four girls are the most “boy-crazy”  and could bond together over rating boy’s butts.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I know she has zero lines and she’s still my favourite female character. So…  That in itself is probably “unpopular” in the sense that it’s not exactly embraced by the fandom.
I guess I don’t like when Izumi is portrayed in some fanfics as being very snooty, despite one of the five things or so we know about her is that she’s NOT stuck up
.I also don’t like the movie having her as a “bad girl” or the manga totally dismissing her and having damn Fumiyo be Yutaka’s crush instead. The other mediums did her dirty.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I think every AU I have In my head, involves Mitsuru finding Izumi alive and teaming up with her, giving them a chance to really get to know each other and you know… Fall more in love and express their feelings. And survive idk that’d be good too
.And any mention by the neutral girls in the novel that “Our friend Izumi died first, that’s sad, huh”, would have been welcome. Thanks Chisato for doing a little justice in AB.
I’m also still hopeful for like a BR prequel novel or manga focusing on all the different groups that could give Izumi some lines. I know it’s been 21 years since the novel was released, but AB was released 14 years later, so there’s still hope.
Haruka Tanizawa
How I feel about this character
Haruka has always been one of my favourite characters (in BR I love so many of the kids, so “favourite” means top 15). Her bravery and loyalty is really admirable and she really is part of keeping the team together in the Lighthouse. Despite being a little tough and clearly a little dis-trusting of boys, Haruka is still kind and caring, as she checks on Yuko in the lighthouse and tries to reassure her about the whole Shuya situation. She’s clearly a great friend who will always stick up for those she’s close to. AB adds another dimension to her character with her realizing recently she’s a lesbian and in love with her best friend which is just… Ouch. My heart.
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Haruka/Yukie I mentioned in my Yukie-post that I have a hard time seeing Yukie as bi/gay, but I still heavily ship this. I guess I just want Haruka to be happy, right? Even before AB was released, I always read Haruka as a lesbian in love with Yukie, which I know a lot of the fandom did.  Falling in love with your best friend is such a lesbian stereotype in media, but I’m here for it every time. The fact that Haruka really finds herself disgusting because of how she feels about Yukie now, is just heartbreaking. She mentions trying to pull away and avoid physical touches etc, but it’s clearly hard for her to pull away at all, as the girls have been best friends since Elementary school. In AB, Haruka also mentions how she could never live if it means Yukie has to be the one to die. Her love for Yukie, both romantically and platonically, Is just so strong.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Haruka/Yukie See everything I wrote about them already except remove the romantic elements, I guess? They make a great team, both on the volleyball court and off. Even their platonic love for each other (Yukie’s love for Haruka, I guess) is so strong and they find strength in each other, going back to the school together to gather their friends, despite the risks. They’re both very brave and even braver together. Strength in numbers and all that.
Haruka/Chisato I just imagine them looking so cute together when they’re cooking, described as looking as a couple because of Haru being so tall with short hair and Chisato being so short with long hair. Because of how much physically bigger and probably stronger Haruka is than her, I totally see her as overprotective of her smaller friend. I can see her just listening to Chisato go on about her crush on Shinji and be horrified that their innocent friend would risk getting hurt by a player like this. I guess I in general picture Haruka as protective of all her friends.
My unpopular opinion about this character
I’m not sure if this is unpopular but I don’t see it mentioned that much, but I HC Haruka as having experienced some sort of assault/abuse by a boy/man in the past. Possibly because of the manga stating that Haruka “knows boys do bad things”.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
I obviously (this is gonna come as a shock I KNOW) wish she and Yukie would have succeeded in calming down Satomi and Chisato before the whole thing escalated like it did. I’d be so happy if the girls made it out of the lighthouse with Shuya to meet up with Noriko and Shogo, even if the happiness probably wouldn’t laugh.
And I’d like for her to have told Yukie just how she feels about her. I know Yukie would have been completely supportive and loved her no matter what, and I wish Haruka got that confirmation that she’s not abnormal or disgusting, and that it doesn’t change anything in their friendship.
Tadakatsu Hatagami
How I feel about this character
I love suspicious, grumpy, level-headed (until he gets horny) Katsu. He’s another one of my favourites. I like how he has friends from so many different group, like he’s a jock so he hangs out with Niida and Oki, but he’s also childhood friends with Yuka, and he’s still friends with his Elementary school friend, little nerd Yuichiro…  It means he must be pretty versatile to get along with such different groups of people. And I find it a little hilarious how he let his strict mom keep him from being friends with Shuya after he started playing rock music. What a loser.
I find it really sweet how Katsu and Yuichiro sat down and decided to find other people and try to find a plan on how to escape once they met up in the Program (but failed to find any plan because they’re both just not that creative I guess??), but it’s admirable that despite being a suspicious person (“misanthropic” as Yuichiro described him), he still wanted to trust people enough so that they could help each other out of the situation. He seems all grumpy and hard when Mitsuko joins them but that’s because he doesn’t trust her (wonder why) but he’s still a nice guy with good intentions and a protective friend!
All the people I ship romantically with this character
Tadakatsu/Yuka Yes, I jumped on this bandwagon immediately after reading AB. Yuka referring to him with his nickname “Katsu” and being in tears because the girls just let him run off alone, since they decided not to let any boys join their group… Seeing Yuka, happy-go-lucky, positive, jokster Yuka, cry like that because she had to let her neighbour/childhood friend go off alone, is just heartbreaking. And then knowing she had to hear about his death later… I wish we had gotten more of her reaction to that. Since I see Tadakatsu as pretty serious and kinda a grump, it makes this pairing even more appealing to me, as they’re so different.
My non-romantic OTP for this character
Tadakatsu/Yuichiro Again, this is another case of the “opposites attract”, with Tadakatsu being a grumpy jock, and Yuichiro being a naïve, good-hearted otaku. Where Tadakatsu is suspicious and judgemental, Yuichiro is open-minded and wants to see the good in everyone, even someone with a bad reputation like Mitsuko. What makes me really like their friendship is that even though one might think Tadakatsu would be the domineering one, he actually lets Yuichiro call a lot of the shots, like letting Mitsuko join them in the first place, convincing Tadakatsu Mitsuko must trust them, and then also going along with it when Yuichiro freed her hands from the restraints later. Yuichiro clearly helps him keep calm in the stressful situation, and they have such trust in each other. It makes Yuichiro’s death by his hand so tragic, too.
My unpopular opinion about this character
He should have shot that bitch when he had the chance.
One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon.
He should have shot that bitch when he had the chance.
Honestly, he did so well, he had a healthy amount of suspicion, he was RIGHT to be suspicious... And then Mitsuko lifts her skirt up a little and he’s like “Oh, yeah, actually, let me just drop my gun and go get laid! Wohoo!”. I’m so annoyed with him! Dumbass! I get he’s a horny teenage boy but did his brain just completly turn off when the rest of him got turned on?! So yeah, I wish. 1) He would have shot Mitsuko right away. 2) If not, at least don’t let her SEDUCE YOU. 3) When given the chance to shoot her again, I wish he had succeeded, instead of Yuichiro being the sweetheart he is and taking the bullet. Oh and I guess I would have liked to see him re-unite with Yuka, or at least see her outside the school or... Something.

if you want an excuse to talk about eva: touch-starved shinji gives me life. like imagine-on the way to kaworu’s room shinji works up the courage to grab his hand and while they’re walking he starts to reflect on how good the contact feels and how badly he wants to be closer. he literally can’t remember the last time someone touched him gently and he wants it to last. this poor fucking guy, just thinking about it tears me up
Oh!!!! That’s adorable! And he’d probably really just,, want to be held but he would be way too afraid to initiate or ask for any sort of affection. He’s always tried his best to just disappear and stay out of the way or simply do as he’s told. And Kaworu would be the last person he’d want to mess up with so he would have terrible anxiety about every little thing he did around him.
Shinji would be stuck thinking about Kaworu all the time though-- like even just thinking about every time their hands happened to brush together and things like that. And he’d desperately want to initiate more contact but would be way too scared.
But when he finally did muster up the courage to grab Kaworu’s hand everything would turn out to be great!! Because that would, of course, make Kaworu immeasurably happy. And then Kaworu would end up being way more affectionate with Shinji as a result because he would see that he wasn’t making Shinji uncomfortable. Also Kaworu would probably be able to pick up the fact that Shinji was incredibly touch-starved? Especially after knowing him multiple times. So he would just keep getting more and more affectionate as a way of assuring Shinji that it was ok and Shinji wasn’t going to scare him off or anything.
So imagine Shinji doing something really small like awkwardly taking Kaworu’s hand and Kaworu getting really excited and wanting to encourage that behavior so he responds by just,, turning around to wrap his arms around Shinji and hug him really close. And Shinji gets super flustered but also super happy.

I was tagged by @justanotherboredadult. I hate you for doing this to me. (Not seriously, I love tag games. It’s just that this one is going to be really hard.)
Rules: Name ten favorite characters from ten different things (books, tv, film, etc.) then tag ten people.
I can’t possibly choose my top ten favorites, so I’ll just name ten in whatever order I like and call it good.
1. Sherlock Holmes (Sherlock Holmes, et al)
Tumblr media
The legendary detective himself! Ah, if ever there comes a day where I claim to no longer like him, you can take me to a hospital because I’m clearly gravely ill. The original stories are my preference, but there are lots of wonderful adaptations out there as well! The picture above is of Jeremy Brett, whose portrayal of Holmes is widely considered to be one of, if not the best of all time; a moniker which I imagine he would be at least a little bit pleased to have earned.
2. Data (Star Trek: The Next Generation)
Tumblr media
God, I adore Data. His struggles with understanding how others express themselves emotionally, attempts to understand his own feelings, and his inability to connect to the world around him in the same way everyone else did, and the resulting difficulties... as an autistic person, Data’s a character who’s been really important to me for a really long time. He was one of the first characters I was able to really understand and connect with, because I so often had those struggles myself! It’s been years since I first saw him, but it doesn’t matter. Data will always hold a special place in my heart.
Also, uh...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I mean... just look...
3. Root (Person of Interest)
Tumblr media
Let me tell you, it was almost impossible to choose just one POI character! I love all of the main team so much, but I think in the end Root is the one who’s got the top spot. Sure, she might start out on the wrong side, but I think that’s one of the reasons she’s so compelling. Her switch from antagonist to protagonist is really fun to watch and honestly, in general, she is just fun to watch. And look at that smile...
4. Lemy Abelard (Evillious Chronicles)
Tumblr media
Yes, yes, it’s time to get my weeb on. Anyway. This is my clown son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Et cetera. The best clown in the world, in my humble opinion. There’s not much competition to be had :) He’s just a good boy who loves his mother very much... the Pierrot novel’s finally started to get translated and I’m even more ready to die for him than I was before. He’s a precious child. I adore him.
5. Asuka Langley Soryu (Neon Genesis Evangelion)
Tumblr media
Asuka, Asuka, Asuka. What am I supposed to do with you except love and cherish you, huh? I know some people think she’s a bitch, and I guess she kind of is one, but do I give a damn? No. No, I do not. Her drive to succeed and prove herself is very compelling, and her backstory hurts like hell, and honestly I just want to give her a hug and tell her that she is the best EVA pilot in the world and no one can take that away from her.
Also, after what Shinji did to her in that goddamn kitchen scene, I just... Man, I’ve been there. How could I begrudge her anything after that?
6. Akemi Homura (Puella Magi Madoka Magica)
Tumblr media
You want to try and tell me this girl isn’t amazing? Go ahead, I dare you. She’s incredible. The amount she’s gone through would make anybody crack, but she held herself together so long, and I think that’s really amazing and admirable. Oh, Homura... I hope you get your happy ending.
Also, uh, she’s just cool. Have you seen the stuff she’s capable of? It’s awesome. And look at that hair!
7. L Lawliet (Death Note)
Tumblr media
I’m autistic so shut the fuck up--okay, in all seriousness, this frog detective is pretty fucking great. I’m such a sucker for the genius detective archetype, particularly the ‘odd’ ones; it’s been that way for a very, very long time, and I doubt it’s going to stop any time soon.
He’s not that great a person, but I love him anyway. Honestly, I think that’s what makes him interesting! In a series like Death Note, there’s not a lot of room for ‘good’ and ‘evil’ designations, and he falls comfortably into the gray. And he’s just fun to watch!
8. Edogawa Ranpo (Bungou Stray Dogs)
Tumblr media
I’ve already told you I’m a sucker for his archetype, but really... Ranpo is so much like a kid, but he’s so smart! He doesn’t even have a special ability, but he’s the core of the Armed Detective Agency; he doesn’t need an ability, he’s a natural genius! He’s fun and kinda relatable and I love seeing him in action. You just can’t change my mind on this one!
Also, he’s autistic too. Fight me.
9. Flandre Scarlet (Touhou Project)
Tumblr media
I’m not ashamed to admit it--I love Flandre! She’s actually what got me into Touhou in the first place. Just look at her wings--shiny and colorful crystals--and I love shinies so is it really that hard to see why I’d like her? Plus, her theme song is fun, and she’s got a bunch of Agatha Christie references packed into one tiny little vampire, and I love Agatha Christie so... Flandre just came for my soul.
10. Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter)
Tumblr media
It was a hard choice between him and Killua, but in the end, Kurapika won out. What can I say? Well, honestly, nothing, since I don’t fully understand it myself. I guess he’s just an interesting character.
Also, can you say ‘trans icon’? Because I can. Kurapika = trans icon. Thanks for your time.
Let’s see, I have to tag people now, don’t I... Very well.
@shadows-in-the-light-of-day @eveillious @eyeciclez @chatoyqnt @nakaharahs @krpk @adhdleorio @chuuya-nyakahara @ryuuwunosuke @omoidori if you guys don’t mind, of course ^-^ feel free to ignore this, all i request is that you not eat me for tagging you :0

In Regards to Aiko
A short series of ficlets from Ichigo’s point of view on Aiko, his little sister in all but blood, and how her death affected him.
For @aikouo || suffer, bitch. uvu
As much as he’d like to deny it, there was a small splinter of jealousy in his heart when it came to Aiko and her relationship with his father—their father. It was stupid. Petty almost. Being jealous of this girl he considered a sister in all but blood. This girl who had almost nothing. Yet it was there.
Isshin was so loving, doting, and goofy with her—just like he was with Yuzu and Karin. Watching them had always warmed Ichigo’s heart, glad that his family had accepted her so easily into their fold.
Yet there was still that splinter—aching in his heart.
A feeling of not belonging. Isshin would not cease harping affection on this girl who he’d only known for such a short time, yet would hardly spare his firstborn son a second glance. An ounce of affection. All the praises and adoration for his daughters: Karin, Yuzu, and Aiko, but what for his son? A swift series of blows meant to be parried and a brief rant about Ichigo’s bristly demeanor. Nothing more, nothing less.
But that wasn’t her fault.
She had a tough life and deserved nothing less than every ounce of love the Kurosaki family could pour out for her. Ichigo would never fault her for that.
Besides, he was pretty sure if he asked Isshin about it, Isshin wouldn’t hesitate, and that was really all he needed… He didn’t need to take any attention away from his sisters. The mental assurance that his father did indeed love him in his own weird way was enough.
☀    ☀    ☀
After her death, guilt consumed him.
Why couldn’t he protect her?
It had been by her own hand, he knew, and that tore him up inside. Why didn’t he do more? Why hadn’t he been around that night? Why did he let his own goddamn problems take up so much of his time that he didn’t realize that she wasn’t alright? That she needed him?
Ichigo wasn’t so arrogant to believe it was only his own inattention that led her to it. Of course not. Things like this were too complex and messy to say it was entirely his fault. He knew that much from his own musings on the riverbank when he was nine. It wasn’t just because his mother was gone. It was also the confusion and pain and guilt all on top of not really knowing what happened that night. It was the despair in his sisters’ eyes. It was Isshin not looking him in the eyes for weeks.
That knowledge wasn’t enough to assuage the guilt in his heart though. It wasn’t enough to stop the image of her lifeless body from haunting him. It certainly wasn’t enough to blot out her cries begging him not to send her to the afterlife from ringing in his ears.
“I’ll find you, I promise Aiko. I promise.”
“Don’t do it! Don’t do it, I’ll never forgive you!”
A roar pierced the night.  Ichigo’s blood ran cold.
“You’re not safe here. I have to. They’ll devour you like this.”
“Don’t.”
“I’m sorry.”
“I hate you.”
☀    ☀    ☀
He didn’t remember the funeral. He wasn’t quite sure he even went. In fact, he wasn’t sure he remembered much of anything from the weeks following her death. He only knew he existed during that time because of how he screamed himself raw demanding that the Shinigami allow him into Rukon. He begged everyone from the Soutaichou to Rukia to Urahara to let him go look for her only to be denied by everyone he turned to.
“The Arrancar are coming. We need you here.”
“She can manage on her own for a few weeks in Rukon. In the meantime the Arrancar take priority.”
“We’ll send squad members out to look for her. Right now, focus on the Arrancar.”
It was like a broken record. Excuses. Arrancar. Lies. Arrancar. Broken promises. Arrancar.
Didn’t they understand that his sister needed him?
☀    ☀    ☀
Grief made him stupid. It made him more vulnerable to his own hollow.
When he finally turned to the Vizards for help, he was already a wreck. Guilt, anger, sorrow, and grief made him more volatile than usual, but also more prone to the Hollow’s whims. The mask could form at the drop of a hat, and Ichigo often found himself paralyzed for no reason other than the hollow’s sick amusement.
“Daydreaming about that dead girl again? You fool. You should be more worried about me! Any day now I’ll be close enough to devour you whole!”
“Leave me alone goddammit!”
☀    ☀    ☀
Shinji was the first person to notice that he wasn’t always all there when it came to training. Probably because he was the only one who’d known Ichigo—no matter how briefly—before Aiko’s death.
Sometimes he was so caught up with the task at hand, they could hardly get him to stop or settle down for food or rest. Other times, he seemed so overcome with melancholy he could hardly move. Still others, he seemed akin to an animal in a cage, just itching to burst free and leave everything behind.
After a couple weeks, Shinji had enough of Ichigo’s mood swings.
When he confronted the substitute about it, Ichigo could do nothing more than break down. Whatever Shinji had expected, the teen guessed it probably wasn’t this.
Then again, who would expect they’d end up with a sobbing 15-year-old in their arms for their trouble?
☀    ☀    ☀
The good thing about Shinji was that he didn’t have any expectations of Ichigo. None of the Vizards did, not really. He wasn’t a weapon or a soldier or a tool to them. He wasn’t a hero either. He was just a standoffish kid going through something they’d all already been through before. It wasn’t that they liked him or anything. They simply understood. And fuck if that wasn’t exactly what he needed right now.
However, Shinji was…different.
He cared.
For all his annoying quirks and dramatics, he could be surprisingly serious. In a way, he reminded Ichigo a bit of his own dad… Like if Isshin had ever bothered with any semblance of dignity at least.
Unlike his dad though, Shinji didn’t shirk around affectionate gestures. A pat on the head or shoulders. A one armed embrace. Hell, he even went as far as to ask about how Ichigo was doing and feeling every now and again.
It was foreign.
It was nice.
☀    ☀    ☀
After he lost his powers, he was numb.
He didn’t want to die… not really… He just wasn’t quite sure how to live… how to move on.
Some nights he would find himself sitting at the riverbank, staring down at the water. He didn’t know how to live without the dead being such a prominent presence in his life… And she was there… waiting for him on the other side…
Those thoughts that haunted him back when his mother died never really left, but they were background thoughts. Intrusive and unwanted and ultimately fleeting for the most part. Now though, they didn’t seem to want to leave. They itched at the forefront of his brain.
‘You promised her. You promised her. Just do it. There’s no other way to get to her now. Just do it.’
‘You wanna do it anyways. Why don’t you.’
‘You’re useless at being a person. You weren’t meant to be alive. You never even made any plans for growing up. What’s holding you back?’
What was holding him back? Only the same things that held him back 8 years ago. Yuzu. Karin. Tatsuki. Now there was Chad to think about too. Uryu and Orihime… Mizuiro and Keigo as well… Sure… Chad, Uryu, and Orihime hadn’t been around much lately… but that was his own fault.
Aiko would understand, right?
Him living for Yuzu and Karin?
As much as he loved her, as much as he wanted to be with her and make sure she was okay… Yuzu and Karin were his sisters too, and he couldn’t make them worry and more than they already did. Couldn’t hurt them more than he already had.
He had to go on living. For them. He had to do his best…
Besides… Rukia promised she’d look for her for him… She wouldn’t break her promise… right?
☀    ☀    ☀
Living was hard.
He resolved to live and he refused to be swayed from that---Zangetsu would never forgive him should he allow his resolve to crumble---but that did not change the fact that living was hard.
Some days he had too much energy. Some days, too little.
When restlessness bubbled inside him, he’d wander the streets until he found himself in places that made his heart ache. The library near the train station where he and Aiko went to study sometimes. A bakery that sold numerous treats---strawberry milk, chocolate cakes, and milk bread amongst them---that he’d taken her to multiple times. Several times he found himself standing at the spot he found her and his blood ran cold every time.
Ichigo could never get away from that spot fast enough. He’d turn around and sprint away as fast as he could, paying absolutely no mind to where he was going. As long as he could get away.
Once he found himself at the Vizards’ warehouse. Once.
He even went so far as to go in, breaking his rule of not going near his connections to his old double life. It was one thing to avoid Urahara Shoten like the plague. It was another to not even say ‘hi’ to the people who helped him get stronger and kept him from going insane when he’d already practically run-up to their doorstep, right? Besides, he owed them a thank you at the very least.
Finding the place abandoned was a little unexpected. But it wasn’t at all upsetting. Not at all. That was the lie he told himself on the way home at least.
From then on, Ichigo made sure to steer far from the now-abandoned warehouse.
Other days, those when he had no energy whatsoever, Ichigo found himself weighed down with grief and exhaustion and a heaviness he had no name for. He didn’t even have the energy to get out of bed.
Yet no matter how much he wished to sleep away the day, he rarely let himself give in. He was supposed to be living, dammit. Loathsome though it may be, he would force himself upright and out of bed with every ounce of willpower he could muster.
Rare was it that he made it to school on those days, but at least he was not wasting away in bed, he resolved. Instead, he often found himself at the cemetery where his mother was buried. Longing for the company of the dead wasn’t exactly living, but it wasn’t dying. If nothing else, it wasn’t dying or contemplating his own death, and that was something.
Lighting incense and praying for his mother and Aiko was… cathartic in a way. Atheist in that he believed in no higher power, having seen the injustice of the afterlife first hand, he was not above the Shinto practices he grew up with. It was strange how much he took comfort in such things as praying and lighting incense at the family shrine, but it was nice nonetheless.
Aiko wasn’t buried there. He never actually found out where she was buried, but he knew it wasn’t there. His dad mentioned something about her “father” claiming the right to bury (maybe that’s why he couldn’t remember the funeral? Her father didn’t let them go?) or something along those lines. That didn’t deter his family in the slightest from adding Aiko to the family shrine. They put a grave marker for her right next to Masaki’s with the inscription, “Aiko, beloved daughter and sister, a true Kurosaki in every regard”.
“I can’t… I can’t look for you now… but I will. As soon as I can, I will… I really hope Rukia found you… Or at least… at least that wherever you are… you’re okay, Aiko.”

I know, but for the benefit of those who may not be into tokusatsu and follow your blog, tell us about some of your favorite toku cuties!
oh boy, i could go on about this all day. which i will. hope you don’t mind that they’ll mostly be guys, as tokusatsu in general tends to be a sausagefest. i’ll try to avoid spoilers for the aforementioned non-toku devotees.
let’s get the obvious one out of the way first!
Tumblr media
black woz from kamen rider zi-o
he came from 50 years in the future to give a high school boy a magic belt that would enable him to become an evil king with ultimate dominion over space-time
catchphrase: “REJOICE!” followed by super hammed up dramatic speeches whenever said high school boy gains a cool new power
user of the thoth stand
he basically worships this high school boy and tries to encourage him to become the despot who shaped the dystopian hellscape woz came from
he has a doppelganger we call white woz whose goals are completely counter to his, and you know what? the woz who stans the evil king is the good one
he likes natto and mustard on his rice
he can actually be surprisingly sassy if you push his buttons enough
woz’s actor, keisuke watanabe, is the prettiest human being in this universe
Tumblr media
shinji kido from kamen rider ryuki
REJOICE! he’s also in zi-o!
he transforms into kamen rider ryuki, with dragon powers and a mask like a sports car grille
catchphrase is “oi, ren!” which was changed for me forever after watching the end of the rider time ryuki special
he is my son! i want to adopt him!
dumb as fuck, heart of gold, will let you peg
he works as a reporter at a not very reputable newspaper which seems to mostly publish investigations of weird rumors and urban legends
he also works as a waiter at this cute teahouse
he still has no money because his friend yui broke a window
in the world of ryuki, kamen riders must duke it out in a battle royale by transforming into their super alter egos and entering the monster-infested world on the other side of reflective surfaces
shinji doesn’t want to fight anyone though, he just wants to keep the monsters from hurting people!
he’s such a sweet cute idiot. i’d protect him with my life.
Tumblr media
akira nijino from ressha sentai toQger
transforms into toQ 6gou, the the orange toQger
catchphrase: “this is the place where i will die…” (and variations on that)
reformed monster turned magical railroad worker turned hero
his introductory arc will tug at your heartstrings
his face turn happened after he saw a rainbow for the first time, and henceforth dedicated his life to protecting rainbows
his guilt complex hangs over him in the form of a literal rain cloud
he’s normally taciturn but gets super cheerful and giggly in the presence of cute baby animals, especially kittens
he loves public baths so much he uses the word “aishiteru”
he often makes his dramatic entrance while playing a mournful tune on his harmonica
he’s got a lot of internal conflict going on but he’s such a good guy
his monster form has the softest fluffiest ears and a bitchin cowboy outfit
seriously sets off my gaydar for some reason?
Tumblr media
noel takao from kaitou sentai lupinranger VS keisatsu sentai patranger
transforms into both the silver lupin X AND the golden patren X
catchphrase is “oh la la!” which he says when surprised/excited/intrigued
he’s both a phantom thief and an elite international police officer. it just works…somehow.
uses his mecha train to travel between japan and france in no time flat
older than he looks
does unnecessary acrobatic stunts for the hell of it (which his actor, seiya motoki, really does!)
wants the phantom thieves and police officers to be friends and work together instead of fighting
lowkey shipper on deck
(accidentally typed “lowkey shipper on dick”)
is he japanese? is he french? well that is just his own sweet and sexy secret
owns a shiny silver and gold kimono equally as awesome as akira’s in the gif above
Tumblr media
tsukasa kadoya from kamen rider decade
he’s kamen rider decade
catchphrase is “i’m just a kamen rider passing through…remember that!”
his show is so weird and confusing but that’s okay because he’s cute and has an adorably bad attitude
always trying to take photos with the camera he carries. they always turn out looking shitty. he says it’s because the world is rejecting him, and not because he’s shitty at taking photos.
so he’s supposed to hop universes destroying worlds but he seems to just keep saving them instead
said worlds are extremely strange AUs of the first nine heisei kamen rider shows
anyway, back to tsukasa. he has a weird and sexy way of sitting which he did in front of black woz once which made him start doing it
actually his interactions with black woz in zi-o are memorably hilarious for both characters
every time tsukasa enters a new world, he automatically has a job that helps him fit in. in the kiva world, he’s a concert violinist–and boy, can he play. in the blade world, he’s the head chef of a cafeteria, and comes up with some great (if a little underhanded) methods of making money.
what the fuck is he even doing?
will i have the answer to that by the time i finish watching decade or nah?
regardless, he’s incredibly charming, and pleasant to watch
ma…zhen…TA.
Tumblr media
umika hayami from kaitou sentai lupinranger VS keisatsu sentai patranger
umika is secretly the super cute phantom thief lupin yellow!
she’s super cute and acts cheery but she’s got some intense sadness going on deep down which remains a secret to most people
waits tables at bistro jurer (the front for the lupinrangers)
i started watching lupat because she’s cute, even though i did not think i’d really get into super sentai
(i did)
fellow lupinranger and bistro staff kairi pinches her nose just like how his older brother used to pinch his nose
…when umika turns it around and pinches kairi’s nose…when that happens you will want to cry, just sayin
one of the patrangers gets a big dumb crush on her, unaware that she’s actually a lupinranger (can you blame him?)
she loves fashion and has a delightful sense of style
her favorite pair of earrings look like cherries and they’re soooooo cute, eat your heart out noriaki kakyoin
Tumblr media
sougo tokiwa from kamen rider zi-o
he’s the high school boy black woz is obsessed with
he’s kamen rider zi-o, kamen rider zi-o ii, kamen rider oma zi-o, part of the fusion kamen rider zi-o trinity, and has a fuckton of various forms
in the tradition of shinji kido he is cute, dumb, sweet, and bleaches his hair
can you believe this widdle bitty cutie pie grows up to become a megalomaniacal overlord subjecting humanity to a dark timeline of misery and woe??
at least, he might. he’d rather not. the time travelers from 2068 inform him that it’s a definite possibility.
good at history, bad at math
has been convinced since childhood that he will become a king after graduating high school, and because of that, he has no other career aspirations and no friends…wah wah waaaaaaaah
a plucky orphan much like myself
possesses latent psychic time manipulation powers that are a little scary if you think about them too hard
Tumblr media
haru “tokatti” tokashiki from ressha sentai toQger
blue hero toQ 2gou
during roll call he always bows and says something
adorkableness incarnate
this boy is a nervous wreck
he adjusts the train track visor on his sentai mask like it’s his glasses
massive crush on his childhood friend mio, aka toQ 3gou and the mom friend of the group (she is also a toku cutie i love to bits) (i ship it hard)
becomes particularly close friends with akira, which is interesting to see since their personalities (and suit colors) contrast so much
even when anxious and easily discouraged, tokatti is always brave and strong for his friends when in a pinch
thinks of his big brother ryo as a cool superhero
the glasses nerf just how handsome he is
i have a lot of other tokusatsu cuties i adore but these are some of the ones who’ve been on my mind the most lately! hopefully you readers enjoy this small sampling of tokusatsu dorks 💖

sorry this is a lot but I enjoy your opinions. G, P, U, W, X, Z
G - Have you ever had an OTP? If so, do you remember your first one? Who was in it?
Nah. I’m aggressively boring and uninvested in general in most romances so I usually just go with whatever’s canon and call it a day.
The closest thing I got to ever shipping in the past was being mildly surprised that people saw Link and Zelda as an item in Twilight Princess because they don’t really talk much in that game (they have maybe two conversations? Three if we count any presumed dialogue they might’ve had during the last boss battle when they’re on a horse together). I wouldn’t say I’m actually invested in it one way or another though. Link didn’t really have much of a personality until Wind Waker came along.
P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas).
FFXV AU where Noctis asks literally any questions at all about anything and interacts with the plot as an active participant in it instead of a copypasted emotional beat from FFX and thus doesn’t die at the end due to lazy writer caveat. (spoilers i guess)
I am so so so so tempted to write this and the urge has been growing stronger over the last few weeks. I imagine fans of XV wouldn’t be too thrilled I’m writing fanfic specifically because I hate everything about XV, but y’all keep circulating posts about how writing fanfic to fix canon is totally valid!!! so I fully expect everyone to walk the walk after talking the talk.
On another note, AU where Cloud never actually makes it to Midgar after Zack gets filled with lead, thus never meeting Tifa at and least screwing his head on semi-straight, and just wanders around in the wilderness as a weird amnesiac murderhobo in a perpetual fugue state. Hijinks ensue I guess.
Shit, I should write that.
And now I have 48 fics queued. Look at what you’ve done. Are you proud of yourself?
U - Three favorite characters from three different fandoms, and why they’re your favorites.
alright let’s get the obvious one out of the way
Cloud because I used to fucking despise him and over time he really grew on me after I was exposed to his genuinely moving character arc and narrative that actively trampled every expectation I had about what it would be. Dumb asshole that unabashedly loves his friends, which is something that you rarely if ever see in other protagonists of his mould which is why it infurates me as much as it does when people (Square or the fanbase, it’s annoying either way) try to downplay it. That was one of the things that made him unique and compelling in the first place and you’re actively discarding it? Fuck you.
It’s genuinely refreshing to see someone try as hard as they can and fail catastrophically in every possible respect, and then that’s just the result and he has to come terms with that pain as something shaping who he was instead of just learning a lesson and then getting over it. There are a lot of matter-of-fact moments like that with regards to loss and pain in VII but Cloud’s arc actually took one of said moments and made it extremely cathartic.
I have a lot of fukken feelings about Cloud, man. That character analysis essay is officially four years old and the ETA on it is “whenever I guess”.
Azula from ATLA. I mean, I adore basically everyone in that series so I don’t even know which one I’d call my favourite, but I do think I ought to highlight Azula since a lot of who she is kinda gets overlooked. She’s like a family-friendly Eva character.
It’s genuinely fascinating to watch her break down, and on a second rewatch you can sort of tell which beats fell into place where. Ironically, she considers Zuko the “favoured child”, and part of the reasons she utterly despises/loves/despises him as much as she does is because she tries to earn his approval in her own weird, sociopathic way. Then, when he inevitably bails, he not only rejects her, he goes and shacks up with even more people that consciously chose to love him, and for all her talent, after all her hard work, all she has is Ozai, who’s probably never loved anything in his life. The unfairness of it all.
The breakdown she has at the end isn’t even anything new, really. It’s just the first time other people get to see it.
Speaking of Eva, Shinji. DISCLAIMER: YES SHINJI MASTURBATED TO COMPLETION OVER ASUKA’S COMATOSE BODY IN A BLATANT DISPLAY OF NOT ONLY HIS GENERAL DISLIKE AND FEAR OF WOMEN BUT IN AN EXPRESSION OF HIS REFUSAL TO PROJECT AFFECTION ONTO PEOPLE BECAUSE PEOPLE CAN REJECT HIM, PREFERRING TO SEE ASUKA AS A PERSON-SHAPED OBJECT INSTEAD. THERE I HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEMATIQUE ™ BIT NOW. CAN I LIKE THIS CHARACTER YET?
Shinji and Cloud have a lot of the same character arc, as I’ve mentioned probably more than a few times because I repeat myself a lot. Where Cloud is a more optimistic take on defining oneself on one’s own terms and as a result accepting that they can be someone worthy of love, Shinji’s side of that concept is waaaaaaaaaaay more cynical, in that Shinji kind of… doesn’t learn to do that in the end. Refuses to, in fact, to the point where it gets everyone killed. Also Kaworu is Zack if Zack actually had character development and if C//la/ck was actually canon. Where Cloud overcomes his fear of rejection by learning he is deserving of existence on his own merits, otherwise why would he have people that care about him in the first place, Shinji is crippled by it and spends most of the series screaming at anything that remotely resembles responsibility. For a guy that repeatedly tells himself “I mustn’t run away” his reaction to everything is almost exclusively to run away.
Now, I’m not necessarily implying that if things had gone worse, Cloud might have masturbated to completion over Tifa’s comatose body, but like… I’m just saying.
(Though Aeris and Tifa were admittedly a lot more stable than poor Asuka or Rei ever were, as low of a bar as that may be.)
In case it wasn’t obvious, I clearly have a Type. And that type is a maladjusted child soldier screaming VALIDATE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE from the top of the lightpole they climbed up to avoid their feelings, and they all deserve a good hug and a firm shove down a flight of stairs or two, in either order.
W - A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.
Love triangles. If I wanted to see a bunch of assholes do a bunch of petty bickering fueled by hormones and poor communication and pitting two people against one another for extremely asinine reasons, I’d lurk outside a high school.
X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.
Apart from the aforementioned Type ™ I have, people getting overwhelmed by gestures of basic human decency and the implications of that.
Z - Just ramble about something fan-related, go go go! (Prompts optional but encouraged.)
God they did poor Luna so dirty. You could have replaced her with another fucking crystal or something and it would affect the plot about as much. Man, didn’t the selling point for FF used to be its rich, inventive storytelling?
Come the fuck on, Square, you had female characters figured out in fucking 1992. This isn’t hard.

Why I think Darling In The Franxx is better than Evangelion.
...
Look, I won’t insult you by saying that this is a purely objective post nor am I going to say that Darling In The Franxx is gonna always be this good. However, considering my unbashed loathing of Evangelion and my very high adoration of Darling In The Franxx combined with the latter taking so much from the former I feel as though I need to explain why I prefer Franxx over Evangelion, both from a subjective and (as much as I can) objective point of view.
First off, the characters. My issue with Evangelion’s character was that I either loathed the characters when I was suppose to like them or even loath them for different reasons. My examples for this include Misato who I loath for being an adult who could have stopped so much pain and suffering if she talked to Shinji for more than five minutes or at least stopped hitting on him and SEELE who I hated for being boring and pretentious, essentially wasting my time.  Or I feel wholly unattached to them, the examples being the Brudge Bunnies for having little to no personality between them, Dr. Akagi because I have no idea who you really are and Rei, who resets partway but even then I found her so boring I never cared.  Or I do like them...and I’m punished for it by the show, prime example being Shinji Ikari getting fucked over by forces out of his control. Simply put: Everything about the characters in Evangelion prevent me from getting invested in them thus I cannot care about them (Hell, I laughed when Mistao got shot.)
But with Darling In The Franxx, that isn't the case. I can care about Hiro trying to keep up his relationship with Zero Two without worrying too much about it going to shit. I can care about Ichigo trying to help Hiro be happy as well as being the squad leader without worrying about her dying or something. I can care about Zero Two trying to fight against the Klauxosaurs and becoming human. I can also enjoy them just for who they are with how they act and how they interact. The children all have distinct and virbrant personalities that make them a treat to watch on their own. Even Hiro is enjpyable to watch because he can act as the straight man to anyone in the show and thus give the audience someone to relate to, especially with Zero Two. And even with characters I’m suppose to hate, I hate in an enjoyable sense. I hate Dr. Franxx for fucking with Zero two at such a young age but I know I’m suppose to hate him and his actions bring Hiro and Zero Two together. I can care about these characters and the others because they were built better: They have better personalities, better interactions, better places in the story and more emotional connections with me
Speaking of interactions, one of my BIGGEST compliants with Evangelion was that it was full on willing to show how terrible human relationships are...but when it came to actually showing the GOOD, it apparently suffers from short term memory loss. Shinji and Asuka, Shinji and Rei. Asuka and Kanji, Mistao and SHinji, Misato and Kanji, Gendo and Yui, Gendo and Akagi- NONE of the relationships in Evangelion should EVER have happened, both romantic and platonic. This is because the show displays these relationships as fundamentally toxic and hurts EVERYONE involved. Why should I care about humanity when it shows humanity itself is basically self destructive? Just as well, relationships with other people is a key part of being human and character relationships are a key part of writing. SO when I see nothing but toxic relationships, I end up being numb towards the whole show and  thus I don't care about anything.
On the opposite end, Darling in The Franxx shows the characters in HEALTHY relationships. The pistils and stamen, in all but one case, actually function properly. I can see these characters getting along and being happy with one another and get invested in them. When they get in danger, I not only worry for that character but for the others as well because of how that one person’s death could affect them. And when things are slow, I can enjoy the hijinks and the emotional moments between the parastites. The best example of this is the main couple of Hiro and Zero Two. Yeah, they both have issues and the relationship can be shaky at times but overall the two really feed into one another: Hiro helps Zero Two be grounded and relate to the audience as well as be held back when needed and Zero Two makes Hiro more emotional and less of a blank slate. Essentially: they are Shinji and Asuka done right.
Moving away from characters, both series drop the mecha aspect of their show latter on in their life spans but Darling In The Franxx drop it a LOT sooner so the show can focus more on the characters. This gives the show time to set up the world more, give the side characters some focus in order to endear them to us and foreshadow events to come whereas Evangelion dropped it suddenly, left many of it’s side characters in need of development to have any sort of impact but there was no time and a lot of stuff just seems to come out of nowhere.
The pacing of Darling in the Franxx is better as well. Evangelion spent a great chunk of it’s runtime pulling a “monster of the week” mecha show which makes the sudden change to the more psychological aspects of latter run more jarring as well as certain plot points to either be forgotten or rushed. WIth Darling in the Franxx, the show stops the whole Monster Of The Week shtick at episode 6 and uses this time to slow down and take it’s time developing it’s characters before paying off latter down the line, thus making the show more easy to digest than before.
The monsters themselves are a bit of a weird case. While the Angels in EVangelion are more unique and stylized in design, which makes thigs more fun to watch as they are battled against...considering we’re not suppose to be cheering for the Angels, that ends up biting the show in the ass. I like the Angels more than the Klauxsaurs...but that makes them dying less heroic and more tragic, especially with the implication there is only one like them. And considering how horrible most  of the humans are, I was more likely to cheer for the Angels (AKA the VILLAINS) than the heroes whereas in Darling In The franxx, I see the Klauxsaurs as animals that need to be put down before they can hurt the heroes or cause destruction, thus THEIR defeat feels more heroic and satisfying.
The mechas are pretty cut and dry for me. Yeah, the Eva units are neat and all...but they’re too flesh-like to marvel at the ingenuity of humanity and too machine like for me to be interested in them. Not only that, despite actually being cyborgs, the Eva Units don’t really have their own identities aside from Eva Uni 01 and I fucking hate that waste of flesh and metal. But with the Franxx, they have enough human attributes and distinct looks to feel invested in them and their humanoid faces serve to express what the characters are feeling without being taken out of the action. But they do look mechanical enough that you can watch in awe at a man-made machine doing such complex movements and manuvers as well as triumphing over impossible odds that makes you feel awesome for just being human.
The story sure as hell is a lot more enjoyable in Darling In The Franxx. Evangelion not only dropped the ball taking soo much time with the Monster of The Week set up that the actual story is too compacted to be engaging as well as the fact that it went off into pseudo-existential crisis so much that it became dull and pretentious. Darling In The Franxx gives it’s true story time to breath and settle in, especially since it has been established and shown since episode 1. I can enjoy and digest and comprehend Darling In The Franxx more easily, allowing me to search for more nuances and little aspects more whereas with Evangelion, I’m too busy trying to figure out what the fuck is going and what message I’m suppose to get to see anything little and rewarding.
And finally, the tone of both series or rather, how Darling in the Franxx did it better. Evangelion up to the very end went with a very bleak, very dark, very hopeless tone. Now the tone itself is not a problem, you can do this kind of tine very well, the best example being Berserk and the way it used the inner darkness and hopelessness of the world to paint an almost oppressive, gripping tale. However, that was because Berserk fully embraced that and choose a story that worked with it. Evangelion however decided thatit could still be hopeful and choose a story that simply didn’t mesh well with it, meaning it tried to tell a story of a boy finally opening up to the world while conditioning the audience to believe he’ll get punished unfair and disproportionately for it. The show tries having hopeful moments but the audience is conditioned to know it won’t last. The show tries to end happy but the tone says otherwise. WIth Darling in The Franxx, the tone is still dark but not COMPLETELY. There can be hope in the show because it has worked in the past. There can be a chance for a better time because it worked in the past. There is more investment and hope and love for the story because the tone conditioned the audience right. This being especially prevelant in Episode 13 where in the previous episode there was hope that things would work out alright and in that very same episode, that idea was fed and nutured until it blossomed at the end.
And I could go on and on and on but I’ll stop here for now. Why Darling In The Franxx works better is a bit complicated but still easy to understand. Evangelion didn’t have very many positive sources to draw from because it was among the first shows to do this breed of show. Thus it screwed up due to there being no chance for positivity in the show, However, Gainax’s NEXT anime actually serves as the best show to taken inspiration from WITH Evangelion: FLCL. FLCL managed to cover up a lot of the flaws with Evangelion form having a lighter tone, wackier moments, better relationships and more positive payoff. FLCL itself has a number issues with not taking itself seriously, being a bit too happy, glossing over the bad aspects of relationships as so on. Which is why shows that borrow from both tend to work the best. Prime example being Gurren Lagann with a middle of the road tone that allowed for any number of messages as well as striking close to home with characters that worked both positively and negatively with a story that struck the right balance between the two.
Essentailly, Darling In The Franxx took the best of both shows and thus had a lot more potential in the beginning than the others. Gurren Lagann did the same and it became the Magnum Opus of Studio Gainax, becoming the true successor to their first work. And I believe Franxx is on the road to being a true successor to Evangelion.
