Wincest is truly love taken to the extreme. Devotion to the point of it being a religion all of its own. Closeness that can only be rivalled with splitting one open sternum to groin and reaching inside — touching something private and sensitive and painful. Something that is so far beyond codependency it doesn’t even have a proper name, overwhelming in its entirety.

There is truly not a love story as equally beautiful and sickening as Sam and Dean’s because it isn’t just love. It’s indifference, it’s hero worship, it’s something both sacred and deeply rooted within the world. Those boys love each other so much and so fiercely it’s a disservice to pretend that they don’t.

Unpopular opinion

I don't think Dean would ever call Sam "Baby". That's what he calls his car. But Dean 100% does have a pet name for Sam that means what fans seem to mean when they use the term baby in regards to Sam... Sammy.

When Dean says Sammy, he is referring to his baby brother.

There is nothing worse than having to lift up the cushions of a childhood couch to find the remote, not knowing what disgusting horrors lie dormant amongst the crumbs and candy wrappers. I avoided sitting where my dad does on the sofa because, for all I love him, the man devours snacks like a wood chipper and I don’t want to even know how crumby those seams are.

One has to imagine that Gallifrey's version of Buzzfeed has, at some point, published a "Would you fuck a regeneration of yourself" article. Although quickly banned by the High Council for heresy, it still circulated so widely on Gallifrey that there isn't a single Time Lord who hasn't covertly read and considered it at least once per regeneration. Each regeneration, naturally, has a different response to the central premise. It used to be a joke among the more irreverent young Time Lords that Rassilon invented time travel because he was so on-board with regeneration-fucking that he had to find a way to meet himself somehow. The joke is erroneous solely because Rassilon didn't actually invent Gallifreyan time travel. He's absolutely used it for those purposes though.

Sam: Hey, you said the Soul Eater made you see things. Plural. So… what else did you see? Dean: I saw you. Dead on the floor. Sam: Hmm. Dean: What? Sam: How messed up are our lives that you seeing a vision of dead me is actually kind of comforting? Dean: Yeah.

Because Sam is comforted by the reassurance that he is part of Dean's soul. That what the Soul Eater showed Dean to put him in a state of distress was Sam dead on the floor, not anyone or anything else, Sam.

This calls back to what I said about Love Hurts (11x13) and how weird that last scene of that episode hits. Because it really felt like Sam was bothered that the Qareen appeared to Dean as Amara and not... I don't know, him? And now he is relieved that the Soul Eater at least verified his place as Most Important to Dean.
