I have a feww questions if you’re comfortable with answering them (no worries if not) :D

I love hearing people’s music recommendations, so I was wondering if you listen to music whilst you draw and if there’s any songs in particular that make you think of the characters and/or the ship?

Also, I get a bit nervous posting about Charlastor because of some of the hate it gets in the fandom and because some of my irl classmates who follow me don’t like the ship (and don’t know I like it), so I was wondering what your general mindset is when you post your art online, but also what your mindset is like when posting Charlastor art, knowing what the fandom can be like?

Finallyy, I wanted to ask if you’ve read Under My Skin by whamagram on AO3 and if you have, what are your thoughts on it? It’s a mature slowburn Radiobelle fic and only has a few chapters out so far, but it’s updated pretty regularly and has become my new favourite at the moment! I highly highly recommend it because it’s super well-written, really witty, and really understands the characters. It’s all about Charlie nursing Alastor back to health after the final battle in season 1 and it’s just so well done!!

Again, just want to say that I really really love your work and thank you for sharing it! I especially love how you draw expressions and the way you draw characters and their emotions feels so real. Seeing your illustrations inspires me to keep practicing with my own art!

I am, in fact, the kind of person who looooves finding songs that fit certain characters or ships and make whole playlists over time if I find enough of them, so here's some that made me think of Charlastor (links are all spotify):

As for your next question...

This isn't my first rodeo in the unpopular non-canon het presenting ship club, so there's a few things I like to remind myself of when I feel that people pleaser anxiety sneaking up on me:

if people truly wanted to avoid content of the ship, they'd block the tags. Maybe kindly ask your friend to block the charlastor and radiobelle tags bc you want to post about them? This way they're not forced to see what they dislike and you get to have your harmless fun. If they're opposed to this, question why. It's not your job to curate *their* online experience, they do have all the necessary tools at their disposal.

I consider the source material like a toy box. You can play with the dolls in it like the packaging intended for you to, but there's no rules dictating that you can't play *your* way if that's more fun to you.

Canon is in my eyes the preferred suggestion, but not the law - don't we all just smush the heads of dolls together making kissy noises in our minds at the end of the day?

A lot of people sadly treat shipping like it's a battle for author validation, when in reality it was always just a way to playing with hypotheticals and exploring the world and characters canon offered us in new and interesting ways... I hate the attitude some people have about canonicity. Imo, as long as you're not acting like your non-canon ship should be canon and shit on other ships in the process, you're not doing any harm.

Now... Canon sexualities and having contrary headcanons are a tricky road to travel because there's so much emotional investment in the canon representation of often overlooked or mishandled minority groups, and this is the biggest anti argument I've seen get thrown around, since Charlastor as a ship not only splits up the canon lesbian pairing, but also alters Alastor's canon sexuality to make the ship work.

What's important here is that you handle it respectfully - i.e. don't be a dick and go around acting like your preferred ideas are better and should be canon or whatever. Attitude is important, respect canon for what it is and embrace the fact that your ship is not. It's not a detriment! It just means we have to make all of our own content lol.

I personally headcanon Alastor as demisexual/demiromantic not only because it still fits under the aspec umbrella, but also because I myself am both of those things and enjoy messing with the characters and narrative using a dynamic I have a lot of personal experience with! It's fun to hit someone as haughty and stubbornly emotionally detached as Alastor with a flurry of unexpected, unwanted feelings and struggling to navigate them.

Do I want that to be canon? Absolutely not! I'm just having fun with my imaginative toys in my own corner of the internet lol.

Also for the record, I think Chaggie is cute and they should absolutely stay together, I just don't find them interesting enough to explore further in the realm of fanfiction and art :'D

Ultimately I'm a strong believer of "I can post whatever I want forever", if anyone has an issue with it and the given tools at their disposal aren't enough to deal with it, they're free to unfollow and/or block me! I don't need anyone's approval to have harmless fun with my artistic and writing skills where I don't bother anyone, and that's imo always what should be at the core of creating just about anything.

the rest of the sorters include only what's on spotify, but with each new (old) addition to streaming, it's looking like making the jump to a more comprehensive sorter situation is going to be easier and easier!

SUMMARY: sharing songs in a hammock leads to a confession from you.

AUTHORS NOTE: I just finished writing this. It's just a little fic/blurb based on a song (I linked it in the fic if you want to listen), but I still don't know how to feel about it. Hope you like this, either way.

The cool late afternoon breeze hits my skin, soothing the heat from the first part of the day. Soothing the heat from where his skin touches mine, so absentmindedly.

Spending time laying in John B’s hammock with JJ quickly became my favorite thing to do on summer days. We talked about anything that came to mind, or we didn’t talk at all, just enjoying each other’s company. Being around him was calming, even with his unending energy and hotheadedness. So, yes, I always looked forwards to our hammock days.

Today we decided sharing songs from our playlists would be the hammock activity, as he decided to call. As his song was finishing, I looked for one from my playlist -which is mainly made up of Taylor Swift’s and 5 Seconds of Summer’s songs.

“Your turn,” JJ reminded me, “but enough with the Taylor Swift. You’re not showing me your playlist, you’re showing me her discography.” He said with his eyes closed, but a lightheartedly judging facial expression.

“You’re one to talk, I’ve been listening to Chase Atlantic all day.” I pointed out, still scrolling through my playlists, searching for something different. He muttered some incoherent defeat phrase that I didn’t bother to pay attention to. “Ok, I think I found just the one. This song is from my birthplace, different enough for you, right?” JJ opened his ocean eyes, even more beautiful now in the fading sunlight. Having him look at me, his attention undivided, felt like a blessing.

I was so head over hills for the blonde man in front of me, for as long as I can remember. But, as cliché as it sounds, I was afraid of saying something and that leading to our falling apart. And I’d rather have him as a friend for the rest of my life, than not having him at all. There were times I almost told him about my feelings, but something, or someone -whose name started with a J and ended with N-, always interrupted the moment.

“What are you waiting for? Hit me with it.” Right, the song sharing.

“This song is called ‘Sol Loiro’ by Armandinho”

As the song went on, I couldn’t help but hum to the calm rhythm, all the while looking at JJ for his reaction. It was stupid of me to feel a need of approval for this song. But it reminded me of him and the way I felt for him. It was important to me and I hoped, someday, it could be important for him too.

“Nice rhythm, it’s calming. I’m curious: what’s this song about?” there. He asked the question I was hoping he wouldn’t. Why couldn’t he just say he liked it and move on? I know I would talk with my heart about this song, and I’m not sure if I’m ready for this just yet. Or maybe, just maybe, like in the song, this is fate. “It’s a love song.” I said simply. The last simple thing I’d be saying for the next minutes. It seems to have caught his attention enough that he stopped caressing my calf, looking at me with slightly tilted head.

“He’s singing about how he needs to be close to his other half, says they’re his island, like a safe place in the storm that life is. He realizes he’s made mistakes in the past, and tries to right his wrongs. Says that everything that’s ever happened lead to them being together, that they’re meant to be. That they’re his fate. But most importantly, he calls their partner the source of light and joy of his life. That’s why it’s called ‘Sol Loiro’, it means Blonde Sun.” I ended, nervously fidgeting with my fingers. I don’t remember moving in the middle of explaining, but now we were sitting criss cross, closer than before, like we just gravitated towards each other.

“It reminds me of you.”

Silence. I glanced up just for a second to read his face, and decided to come all out to him because right now, looking into his soft eyes, it simply felt right.

“JJ,” I grabbed his hand in mine. I needed to feel his touch, just in case it was the last time. “You’re my Blonde Sun. You bring light to me even on the darkest of my days. It’s you I see lighting the path. When I look at you, at your eternal blue ocean eyes, I feel like you’re the final destination, like you’re it. My fate. And I love you, JJ Maybank. I love you even if you don’t feel the same.” I felt my eyes tearing up, so I blink the tears away so I can see him clearly. His ocean eyes were teary as well.

JJ’s lips opened and closed a dozen of times. His warm hand gripping mine, as if he let go, I’d vanish into nothingness. Looking down at our hands intertwined, I began to worry. And when his hands left mine, I felt frozen in place, until he cradled my face and kissed me.

His lips captured mine in a sweet kiss, an action that spoke the words he couldn’t say. And this kiss was everything I have ever dreamed of.

Han/Leia Appreciation Week is an event originally hosted at @han-leia-solo between 2016-2019. Last year, and with their permission, we decided to host it at @hanleiacelebration!

Since Beth Revis' "The Princess and the Scoundrel" was released on August 16th, 2022, we thought it'd be fun to mark the date as the anniversary of Han and Leia's wedding 🥰 And since this year is also the 40th anniversary of "Return of the Jedi", you'll see prompts related to both of those things!

💗 How does the Han/Leia Appreciation Week work?

The event will run from August 13th to August 19th, and there will be two different prompts each day that creators can fulfill with: fanfic, fanart, gifsets, graphics, fanvids, headcanons, crafts, playlists, rec lists. You’re encouraged to tag your posts with #hanleiaweek2023 so we can reblog them! After the week is over, we'll also share a masterlist with links to the works.

synopsis: certain songs remind you of the past you shared with seungmin.

warnings: none.

wc: 1.6k words.

notes: was hit with inspiration on the bus! all of these songs are actually taken from a playlist an ex made for me LOL.

It was almost silent — the only sound filling the air between you and Seungmin being the soft whir of his broken air conditioner — in his car when he told you about the playlist he made for you for the first time. It was full of songs he thought you’d like, songs that reminded him of you, and songs that he loved for no reason in particular.

It was after your third date — a short hike to a local lookout where he had planned for you to watch the sunset together despite a cloudy weather forecast — that he told you about the playlist. He had parked in a space near the entrance to your apartment building like he did after each of your dates so far. Every time, you would sit for almost an hour after the date was over, talking and talking, because neither of you wanted your time together to end.

It was a simple love — one in which you always felt content simply being with Seungmin. The playlist reflected that somehow, which is how you knew Seungmin saw your relationship the same way you did — as a source of comfort, of safety, of home.

“Pull out your phone,” Seungmin had said as you were about to get out of his car after an hour of debriefing post-hike. “I want to send you something.”

You nodded and watched Seungmin send you the link to the Spotify playlist.

“What is this?” You asked.

“You said you’ve always wanted someone to make you a playlist, right?” You nodded. “So I made one for you.”

With that, you almost melted — your heart fluttered in a way that it never had before and you cast your gaze on the boy you were pretty sure you were beginning to love. His eyes crinkled as he smiled at your reaction, the glisten in his eyes making him seem all the more endearing to you.

“Listen to it when you get back,” he said and you nodded excitedly, “and think about me while you do.”

“I always think about you,” you said instinctively, and you thought you should be embarrassed for confessing something like that so fearlessly, but Seungmin’s smile and nod in understanding ensured you that you had nothing to be scared of with him. “I’ll go now.”

“I love you,” Seungmin said softly, but suddenly.

“I love you too,” you said naturally, and he wrapped his arms around you in a tight hug before you left his car and walked up to the front door of your apartment, ready to listen to the playlist for the very first time.

The playlist sounds different now when you listen to it. You and Seungmin had broken up nine months ago, for reasons you still don’t really understand.

Each of the songs that he included in his playlist — a tangible representation of the love he had for you — remind you of him in some way: a flashback of a memory together, a weird depiction of some facet of his body or his personality, a false hope for the love you thought would last forever.

“I just don’t feel a spark with you anymore,” he had said, sitting with you in his car parked in the parking space in front of your apartment after what you realized was your final date.

“I don’t understand,” you replied. “I thought things were going well.”

“I think we’d be really good friends,” Seungmin said. “And you’re great, and someone will love you one day. But I don’t think I’m that person.”

“You said you loved me before,” you responded in a frantic attempt to understand what exactly had shifted in your boyfriend’s mind. “What changed?”

“I should go,” he said sternly. “I’m really sorry.”

When Haewon texted you that she ran into Seungmin with a new girl at the grocery store two weeks ago, it felt natural for you to listen to the playlist again. When Jisung called you after seeing Seungmin and the new girl walking his dog around your shared neighborhood, the playlist was the first thing you turned to. As you saw Seungmin tangibly move on with his life without you, the playlist served as the sole thing that proved to you the love you had shared with him was real.

You see Seungmin and his new girlfriend today on the bus. He looks good and happy in a way that he looked with you. It hurts, especially seeing how beautiful and content his girlfriend appears. You hate that you feel jealous of her — jealous that she’s the sole receiver of Seungmin’s love now, that she will probably never feel the heartache you feel right now as you watch them.

They slide into a pair of seats near the front of the bus, close to the front doors. They don’t see you, you don’t think, too enamored with each other to notice anything around them. They don’t notice you pull out your phone and open Spotify. They don’t notice you plug your AirPods in and press play.

“Late Night Talking” reminds you of when you first started dating Seungmin. You’d lie in your bed every night and text Seungmin until the sun came up. You’d discuss everything — your days, your most irrational fears, your astrology charts, your favorite animals and foods and colors, your dreams. You never felt tired. Eventually, your late night texting became late night phone conversations, which became late night FaceTimes. Your favorite calls would be the ones where you’d fall asleep on the line, and you’d wake up the next morning to a sleeping Seungmin on your phone screen, the FaceTime 10 hours in. His fluffy hair would be rumpled and sticking up from a night of tossing and turning in his bed with his phone on all night. You thought he looked the cutest when he’d wake up and smile at you. You imagined the days when you’d wake up to each other without screens between you two.

“Cruel Summer” reminds you of one of your favorite dates with Seungmin. You took a long drive one night, driving up and down the highways surrounding your city with no cares in the world. Seungmin didn’t know a ton of Taylor Swift songs, but this one was always his favorite and he never let you forget it, especially as he belted it with you on this particular drive. His voice was loud and clear, harmonizing so perfectly with yours as your voices filled the car on the drive. You lowered the window of the passenger seat, letting the crisp air blow through the car. Seungmin had reminded you to bring a jacket when he picked you up from your apartment earlier that night, knowing that you get cold easily. Of course, you had forgotten your jacket, and the cold air bit against your skin. Your cheeks were turning red from the sharp wind, to which Seungmin tsked, shrugging off his hoodie at the next stoplight and passing it to you. You had never felt so warm.

“Vintage” reminds you of the little things that comprised your first love. You remember every good morning text and the specific emoji Seungmin would use to sign each one. You remember the way Seungmin’s arms felt wrapped around your body when you watched movies late at night, the way he’d pat your head endearingly when you smiled at him so brightly, the way his lips felt against your forehead, your nose, your neck. You remember how happy your friends said you looked when you were with him, how sad your friends said you looked when you were apart. You reminisce about him when you listen to this song — in a way, you wonder if its inclusion in the playlist signaled the beginning of the end.

Your bus stop approaches suddenly. You pull on the yellow string laced around the bus, signaling to the driver that you need to get off at this stop. The bus pulls over slowly, and you stand from your seat to move towards the front of the bus to leave. You weave your way through the bus’s skinny center aisle, your arms accidentally brushing the sides of people sitting in seats on either side of the bus. You apologize softly yet profusely as you move forward.

“Sorry,” you say quickly as you brush past Seungmin and his girlfriend to depart the bus as quickly as possible.

“Y/N?” You hear him say, and you step out of the bus, knowing that if you look back at him, you don’t know if you’ll be able to leave him again.

“Who was that?” Seungmin’s girlfriend asks, leaning her head on his shoulder as the bus resumes motion.

“No one,” he answers. “Rest, babe.”

She closes her eyes, head growing heavier on Seungmin’s shoulder as she falls asleep. Seungmin leans his head back, remembering how your head would feel on his chest when you’d fall asleep in your bed together.

He pulls out his phone and opens Spotify. He reaches into his pocket for his wired earbuds, plugs them in and presses play on the only playlist he’s ever made for someone else — the playlist he made for his first love.

He listens, and he remembers.

hi, pooh, is everything alright with you? i hope it's a yes! so, i'm sorry if you already answered something like this, but i just started to follow you right now (because i found your blog really interesting), saw this post of yours and was thinking: do you have tips about "losing our musing while roleplaying"? i see a lot of friends losing their muses, sometimes i do lose mine (which is sad, because we do have affection towards our chars), and i think some tips would help a lot and you seem to have the good ones. i would really appreciate if you could share them with us! the biggest thank you already and have a good, good day!

hi there! well, i'm sick again but other than that i'm fine, thanks. no worries, if questions are asked multiple times i tend to link them to the original answer. but it's one thing i haven't talked about yet, so you're good.

unfortunately, there is no definitive answer that will definitely help but there are some things i've either done myself or have heard about that are supposed to work, so i've compiled a list of all the tips that would help when you've lost your muse.

look at your muses' source material. this mostly applies to canon muses, but depending on the kind of oc, it might work for them as well. the idea behind it is to potentially watch a few episodes ( maybe ones that heavily feature or develop your character ) of the show your muse is from if you're writing a tv show character; reread the book / certain passages if you have a book muse, or just generally interact in any kind of way with the source material. even if you're canon divergent it might help ignite your muse again when you "see them in action" so to speak.

listening to music. if you're into music, you can probably make a playlist for your character including songs that either remind you of them or are something you think your character would listen to in their own free time. now whenever you're listening to that playlist it can help you inspire your muse.

read fanfics. if you're like me and spend an ungodly amount of time reading fanfics, it's something that can help you get inspiration for your muse. again that mostly only applies to canon muses but seeing the way others write your muse and the different scenarios they can be thrown into, might help with your own muse ( and especially plot ideas / au ideas ) that you can talk about either on the dash, to a friend or someone you'd think could be a great writing partner.

create your own stuff outside of rp for your muse. it kinda ties in into the playlist tip, but there are other ways to "channel" your muse outside of rp. do you enjoy drawing? draw your muse. do you like making mood / aesthetic boards? make one for your muse. there are so many different things you can do for your muse outside of roleplaying / writing that can help you get your muse back. even if it's just by doing other stuff.

talk to your friends. if you have friends or certain writing partners you talk to a lot, it can help to just talk to them about your muse(s). you don't even have to spew plot ideas or discuss things that have to do with roleplay but maybe just some casual talk about specific topics ( or if it's a canon muse, you could talk about their source material and what you like / dislike ).

dream up scenarios. if you're someone with an imaginative mind, one thing that can help is dream up certain scenarios that involve your muse. perhaps certain things that could happen to them and how they'd react, or interactions with other people or just random day-to-day stuff ― just put yourself in their shoes and think about them. ( potentially you'll even have some great plot or verse ideas this way. )

last, but not least, take a step back from roleplaying your muse. i know that this is probably the one people will dislike the most but sometimes the best thing you can do when you've lost your muse is to take a step back from it. if you're forcing yourself to write because you think it's what you're supposed to do, it's pretty much bound to frustrate you and therefore make you lose your muse. we all love our characters and the things we've created for them, but sometimes we have to let go. of course it doesn't have to be a permanent thing, maybe someday you'll get your muse for that character back and make a return to it, but sometimes you'll realize that you can't get your muse back and that is okay.

occasionally, people connect to characters that speak to them during specific times of their life and if these change, it can change the muse for that character because you don't feel as connected to them anymore. you can still cherish that time and love that character but as i said above, if you're forcing yourself to do anything, it's bound to be bad.

Sad Playlist and Music Analysis Interpreting Selected Songs as They Pertain to My Personal Good Omens Brain Rot

After watching Good Omens season 2 I needed a sad playlist about it.

I collected some songs that made me think of Them or what happened, but I just sat on it for a while. One day my brain demanded I assemble them. Some were thrown out and a few added after the fact. I spent a completely normal amount of time curating the choices and their position on the playlist. Linked and listed at the bottom of this post.

Most of the songs were chosen to represent a point of view or set of feelings that either Aziraphale OR Crowley might be experiencing in a moment of the audience experiencing them, but some were chosen as more a duet. To represent what both might be feeling either together or about one another. If you are keen to guess which songs represent which character before reading any analysis, I’d be interested to see what people think!

I will link each listed song to its own separate analysis. I will mostly analyze them in order and with no particular timeline. They are all done! When I analyze, I intend for everything to be assumed that it’s all “in my opinion” or “to me” or “the way I interpret it for this purpose” so I will avoid using these phrases to keep things succinct. The intention of the writer is mostly irrelevant unless specifically stated, especially since I don’t know what their intentions were and these interpretations are applied specifically to how I view them through my Good Omens addled brain.

I will also use specific words to mean specific things. Capitalized and trademarked Good™ and Evil™, and the word right/righteous. They will specifically mean the exalted “Good” of heaven, the damned “Evil” of Hell, and what has been meditated upon and judged as the right thing to do regardless of Goodness™ or Evilness™. Furthermore, I am TERRIBLE about citing sources so I probably won’t do it unless I think it’s REALLY important. But I also won’t state something as fact I’m not 100% sure about unless I qualify it.

And please remember, music is personal. Some of these songs may mean something to you that they don’t mean to me. This was my own personal therapy, and I am just putting it into the ether because I want to articulate it for myself and I think others like me might find it interesting.
