All Around Me || Drepa
Pepa was on her lunch break. Félix was not on his lunch break, which was fine. Their lunches did not always line up, which was also fine. Yes, Pepa enjoyed lunches with her husband, but sometimes she also enjoyed sitting in the park with a romance novel and eating her tamale. She only had a few more months of good weather, anyway, and depending on the book she could get so emotional that it started raining, so she liked to do most of her reading outside.
She was just getting to the good part of the book when she heard a loud noise. She furrowed her brows and looked up. She wasn’t sure where the noise had come from, but in front of her she saw a man. A man who looked somewhat familiar, but she couldn’t tell from what. One of Isabela’s friends? Or Dolores’s? Someone she knew through Félix ?
“Do I know you?” Pepa called out, cupping her hand around her mouth. “Also — what was that noise?”
