19.09.2022 // i feel like i haven't posted something in ages, which is probably true. but so much happened in the past months. i finished the first semester of my master's and had to write a bunch of essays and lab reports so i didn't have any summer vacation which sucks. i also had to move out of my dorm room (bye bye beautiful view). but the most exciting part is, that i will move to Spain in less than a week!!! i will stay till February and do an internship at a school there. i will be teaching german as a language assistent and i will help with the chemistry lessons. i hope this is going to be fun and that i get to know new people. ok, that was my update ^^ i hope you're all doing well. remeber to treat yourself to a book (like i did when i finished my essays) and walk through the crisp autumn air.

obsessed with people who refuse to believe the "rumor" that the love hypothesis book is a published reylo fanfic as if finding the author's ao3 account isn't a few well-placed searches away

not to be an elitist bitch, but it does kind of grind my gears that the table at the strand bookstore where they used to have translated literature is now devoted to romance novels

What is a/b/o? 👀
OH 👀 you're in for a real treat with this one
a/b/o stands for alpha/beta/omega and it's a type of fanfiction of dominance hierarchy in humans which are divided into "alpha" (dominant), "beta" (neutral), and “omega” (submissive). writers tend to write the characters kind of like werewolfish i guess where the males can form a knot with their cocks which helps keep their cum from spilling out of the vagina so that their chances of having a kid are better basically
typically very smutty
if you've read bride by ali hazlewood (terrible book but represents a/b/o) you've read a/b/o before
my a/b/o's include:
Alpha Save Me (Azriel x reader)
Burrow (Cassian x reader)
Hear Me, See Me, Use Me (Cassian x reader)
What's Mine (Eris x Rhysand x Reader)
Sanctum (Azriel x Cassian x Rhysand x Reader)
and Pack Mentality (Azriel x Cassian x Rhysand x Reader)

breaking in for a second to say that a lot of the recent stuff going on for writers in particular boils down inherently to a lack of respect.
for one another.
for ourselves.
for our hobby.
from readers who passively just assume that a like is enough. that you don’t need to or want to engage meaningfully.
social media trained you all to be passive consumers and let a computer make decisions for you.
change that shit. reblog. comment. tell people you like their stuff. saying “I liked this” is better than a single fucking like on a post that is lost in the void.
and for those who write based on trends and find themselves constantly burning out: respect yourself and the characters you enjoy more. cherish them. stop chasing so much. this hobby isn’t about notes and being popular, it’s about the love (and sometimes the hate) for canon. not everyone is gonna be the next Cassy Claire or Ali Hazlewood or BNF, just be yourself and stop saying something flopped. maybe just make something you love and embrace happiness.
for those who get into the weird nonsense about ship politics and dark content and other shit: see above about changing behavior and stop engaging with shit you don’t want to see. change your filters. block tags. like you’re capable of using tools given to you instead of harassing people off the face of the internet and being a faceless bully.

Are you planning to read some contemporary romance this year ?
yes and no. so my tbr is actually full of fantasy romance books (and others) but I was thinking about reading the twisted love, hate, lies, games books (and I think they count as contemporary romance, right?).
I'm not 100% if I should read them, so if you have read them and want to tell me your opinion on them feel free to do so💛
maybe I will also give Ali Hazlewood another try, we will see.
I am always open for suggestions, as I don't read that much contemporary romance, so feel free to drop book suggestions in my inbox☺️💛

ok! i’ll do it by trope
enemies to lovers
it happened one summer - tessa bailey (grumpy x sunshine as well
twisted hate- ana huang (the whole series so good, i’m in love with twisted love which will be recommended as well) (grumpy x sunshine)
icebreaker- hannah grace (her book got a bit of hate on tiktok (they don’t like anastasia)but i loved it and it was really just smut with a bit of smut)
twisted love - ana huang (grumpy x sunshine, brothers best friend)
friends to lovers
practice makes perfect - sarah adam’s (there’s like a sexual tension and i think maybe one smut scene, but it’s grumpy x sunshine, fake dating. he’s her sisters’ bodyguard.
the cheat sheet - sarah adams. no smut but i like it!
powerless - elsie silver
teach me kinda?
beach read - emily henry (fake dating, two writers switch writing genres and take each other out on “dates” so they can write a book)
fake dating
better than the movies - lynn painter (fmc is a hopeless romantic like me fr)
love theoretically - ali hazlewood (women in stem)
the love hypothesis- ali hazelwood (women in stem)
dark romance
haunting adeline - h.d carlton (please read trigger warnings, stalker, cnc, r*pe and other really dark warnings, the second book is significantly darker than the first.)
the ritual - shantel tessier (i’m not a big fan of the smut but there’s a lot of it, the plot itself is really good though!)
honorable mentions
the nanny - lana ferguson (fmc used to do only fans, starts babysitting and the dad used to watch her streams and tip regularly)
happy place - emily henry (second chance romance, ex to lovers, fake dating)
heartless - elsie silver (grumpy x sunshine, he’s her boss)
THIS IS INCREDIBLE WTF!!!!!! I actually bought practice makes perfect recently!!!!! and I read icebreaker and personally LUVED it like it radiated fanfic vibes to me hahaha and I’ve obv heard of ali hazelwood and emily henry but haven’t picked any of their books up yet!!! but thank you SOOO SO MUCH you’re literally the best
im ngl these are all going on my tbr list but the nanny in particular………….that one is going straight to the top
THANK YOU AGAIN ILY

Drawing My Reads 2024
I'm still debating on whether or not I want to continue the challenge I started last year. I very much do want to, however, I've been dealing with extreme art block. I'm also planning on changing my self appointed rules a bit.
I have started a few sketches and then scrapped them because I hated them. SO here is a comprehensive list of my 2024 reads. Which will link to the drawings. At some point. When I no longer hate them, I guess.
As usual, books that are sequels will have an asterisk followed by the first book in parenthesis. Links will take you to the completed art for that book (I don't draw for every book). A ~ indicates that it was an audiobook.

Hey
You answered my ask so thank you loads for that...
I was in a very bad phase of life and you gave me hope to come out of it ❤️...
Just wanted to ask you a question
Do you read fantasy?
Is there a book you've read that changed your mind/perspective over things?
Any favourite authors you want to suggest?
Hello Friend!
You are very welcome. I am glad I could help you in some way. You deserve to be happy and healthy🤍
I don't read fantasy.
I think one of the books that really changed my life was What I Know For Sure by Oprah. Her journey is really inspiring!
I'd suggest reading Elif Shafak, Lara Love Hardin, Ali Hazlewood, Jane Austen (all time favourite), Michelle Obama, Brianna Wiest, Donna Ashworth, Nikita Gill. I'm more into poetry. I also have some Wattpad suggestions if you'd like, just DM me or send me an ask.

Love on the Brain
Ali Hazlewood
Overall Rating:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Smutty Peppers:🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Thoughts:
Cute nerds boning!
Socially awkward guy meets girl who thinks he hates her, plot twist they love each other.
Good enemies to lovers content complete with forced proximity and a shared goal.
Their banter is cute and the one miscommunication part actually fit into the story and wasn’t drawn out to hell and back.
The end drama was unexpected and honestly had me clutching my pearls while I read 😂

the main problem with booktok is that the known creators aren't people that actually enjoy reading but usually people that only like smut. it's the haunting adelines and ana huang and penelope douglas trashy books that always get hyped up like they're masterpieces when they're just smut books with no plot and often times not even just dark but truly abusive (and not tagged as such which is what gets me) and like sometimes im in the mood for those type of books but the main problem is that some people talk about them like they're well written and thought out which i'm sorry to say but of the "spicy books" i've read none is actually good besides some interesting smut (not even because ao3 has way better stuff tbh) so if you go into booktok actually liking to read different things and wanting to reach for something a little better you're going to have to fight through the million of shitty book recs to get to it. honestly i still think that's how acotar and like the cruel prince got so popular because they're not amazing compared to the hunger games or poppy war but they're better than the brainless smut books and so many people only read those unfortunately
again im not the best person to say this because i will literally read ao3 smut after jane austen, there's a mood for everything but some people should really broaden their tastes especially if they want to act as critics on tiktok. there's also the problem with diversity but that's a whole other issue
i'm not going to lie i do like penelope douglas but i think ana huang and haunting adeline are horrible lol, idk what it is tho. but yes, poorly written fr (which is why im convinced i can also write a book lol). but also like...they're not that spicy? like i know im mad desensitized from all the fic ive read online its wild sometimes to see people frothing over this stuff because i'm like...whaat? and with the whole ali hazlewood Bride book...here i am thinking a/b/o is a known thing haha but that's totally on me. the book was shit btw, Rabid was such a better a/b/o book imo
i totally get people wanting to hype books up and stuff and i really do try to just read for pleasure but sometimes it's like what am i looking at was that even a coherent sentence? i can judge all day long but i should not haha
