hello everyone and welcome to the March 2024 edition of emily's fic recs! If you saw my post this weekend you know that I bookmarked 57 fics this month... yeah idk how that happened but just know that this is gonna be a bit of a long one.

this month's list contains Jegulus, Wolfstar, and Drarry for a total of 28 fics. there are some all-time faves in this list (march was a good month) so I hope you enjoy!

I LOVED THIS FIC!!! there is so much angst but it is so worth it because these two are meant to find each other every time

I want to take every 8th year fic in hold them close in my arms because these boys are so sad and fucked up but they keep finding each other and making it work. one of my faves!

Sourdough by academicdisaster (17k, rated M)

Draco writes romance novels and doesn't leave his apartment much. Harry bakes bread and sells it to Draco. Draco is quite weird. Harry might like that.

read tags before reading!!! contains some off screen heavy angst but sooo good. Again, you will always catch me at the scene of a weird little draco fic

Convinced by Hermione to get a new pet, Harry goes to Magical Menagerie and finds it's now owned by Draco Malfoy who has changed since the war… in a good way, a really good way.

A botched love potion makes it so that everyone in Harry's vicinity is madly in love with him—everyone except Draco, that is.

I love their banter/flirting in this one so much!!!

Harry Potter Gets a Job [ART] by dustmouth (106 pages, rated M)

Harry returns home from Romania to find Arthur Weasley has a new apprentice, and there's an extra place set for dinner.

I love this art style and the story is just so perfect, def suggest checking out more by dustmouth if you enjoy this

“Don’t…” Regulus mutters, scrunching his fingers on the duvet, “Don’t toy with me.”

James tilts his head, “I’m not.” He sits up a little straighter, reaching out to gently place his hand on his shoulder. Regulus shrugs him off. “Hey, just talk to me, yeah?”

“Merlin above, Potter, I like you,” Regulus whispers harshly into the darkness, turning his face away completely. “Do you get it, now?”

James pauses. Is that all?

And a moment later, he thinks, Oh, that’s sweet. Of course, he knows that Regulus considers him a friend but this is the first time he’s ever actually acknowledged it out loud. It’s nice to be reminded that their fondness for one another is not one-sided. A verbal confirmation of their friendship.

James smiles brightly. “I like you, too,” he replies easily.

Regulus, bless him, actually looks surprised as he turns back. “You do?”

He nods, watching as the younger boy seems to short-circuit. He opens and closes his mouth, his usual eloquence vanishing just because of a simple declaration of friendship. James considers it sort of endearing; and this time when he reaches out, Regulus leans into his touch instead.

“Now that we’ve got that settled,” he says, pulling on his arm gently, “will you come back to bed? I’m knackered.”

Regulus stares at him. He looks so shocked and so, so hopeful. James wonders which asshole turned down being Regulus’ mate to make him so openly awed by someone accepting him. He supposes it doesn’t matter anymore, James will make sure Regulus never feels lonely again.

It just feels right when Regulus curls back into his arms.

This is the first time Sirius saw Remus and they way it’s described is just so beautiful

Please go read this

Because, holy shit, this new stranger is gorgeous. He’s tall; Sirius can tell even as he’s hunched over and trying to collect himself. His skin, slightly shining with sweat, is a beautiful golden brown, and his tawny hair is just a beautiful mess that Sirius wants to run his fingers through.

Acabo de leer la última actualización de my almost lover by @alarainai y he decido que el curso de acción más apropiado es divagar sobre mi amor por Regulus específicamente en esta historia…

A continuación spoilers del capítulo final de my almost lover

Llegué a la conclusión de que amo cuando puedo verme a misma en Regulus y su dramatismo y es incluso mejor cuando este personaje ficticio acaba tomando mejores decisiones que yo.

Tomando como referencia el capítulo número 7 (y final) de este fic en específico y los momentos que me hicieron decir “si soy”:

- Esconderse del mundo

- Tener una actitud descrita por otros como “enterrar mis sentimientos y pretender que nada puede afectarme”

- Salir de clases para llorar en el baño por sentirte abrumado

- El hecho de sentirte avergonzado es peor que la tristeza, el miedo o la ansiedad

- Llenarte la cabeza con escenarios catastróficos

- Molestarte porque no te dejan ser dramáticamente miserable

Ahora, lo que realmente me encanta es que Regulus se permitió escuchar (en este caso a Sirius), se permitió tener esperanza y, por sobre todo, decidió volver a intentar.

No, no estoy sobre pensando este fanfic. . . . .
