"...the first cowboys lived in Mexico and the Caribbean, and most of them were Black. That’s the conclusion of a recent analysis of DNA from 400-year-old cow bones excavated on the island of Hispaniola and at sites in Mexico. The work, published in Scientific Reports, also provides evidence that African cattle made it to the Americas at least a century earlier than historians realized. The timing of these African imports—to the early 1600s—suggests the growth of cattle herds may have been connected to the slave trade, says study author Nicolas Delsol, an archaeozoologist at the Florida Museum of Natural History. “It changes the whole perspective on the mythical figure of the cowboy, which has been whitewashed over the 20th century.”

Rebel Faces: An 18th century painting containing the actual faces of rebels who participated in one of the most well documented revolts by black enslaved people.
“...The main figures in the revolt were the three brothers Wally, Mingo and       Baratham.”
“... Because of the shortage of women, many of the enslaved men had wives and children living on other nearby plantations and it had become custom for these men to visit their families during their free time.”
“...warden Westphaal was given the order to increase the yield and restore order and discipline. To effectuate this, one of the measures he took was bringing down the amount of free time from two days back to one.”

I was thinking about how in middle school I used to wear my natural hair in twists. It’s was back when my hair was really long. Everyday I’d have classmates coming up to me to tug on my hair and watch it bounce. Sometimes they’d ask first, most of the time they did not.
By high school I cut my hair and had an Afro. People would often touch it and usually mess up how I styled it that morning.
Now I’m in college and I constantly get questions asking me if my hair is real. People call my Ice Spice to my face and while laughing secretly, even tho I can still hear them. Mind you I look nothing like Ice Spice, we just happen to both have afros. I’m much darker than she is.
I guess my point is that most do not know how to be normal about black hair. Sometimes it’s balanced out from the amount of compliments I get on it. But it’s exhausting when the majority of people either see my hair as a toy to be played with or the butt of a joke.

In the world of bare-knuckle boxing, one name emerged as a symbol of resilience and skill: Peter Jackson. Born in Christiansted, St. Croix in the Caribbean in 1861, Jackson would go on to become one of the most formidable fighters of his time, leaving an indelible mark on the sport. Beyond his boxing career, Jackson left a lasting legacy as a pioneer for racial equality in the sport. His success in the face of adversity helped pave the way for future generations of fighters, breaking down barriers and challenging racial prejudices.

Also I’ll never understand why some non American black people have the audacity to say we have no culture when we clearly do and have even made our own practices while even being in slavery which was over 200 years ago
Just because we don’t know our exact roots due to SLAVERY doesn’t take away that we created our own practices as well as music, fashion, foods (as well as how we cook it),literature, art, language, hairstyles and etc. since being stolen and shipped to America
Also it’s funny that he decided to take this route when it all started because he was called out for acting ignorant in Jamaica. This man has rappers and comedians constantly on his platform who are African American and he’s known as the “get sturdy” guy. It’s funny to see him turn around and try to pull this when he built his platform off of black American culture

"A rich, well-written and well-researched book on a novel and important topic. African Musicians in the Atlantic World will make a major contribution to multiple fields, including music history, Atlantic studies, colonial Caribbean history and literature, as well as studies of transatlantic slavery, the African diaspora, and Black culture in the Americas. It is full of fascinating archival discoveries and insights."
