they promoted me to team lead last week; it's a new kind of hell, but i'm jazzed abt the pay!

there's this moment that no one talks about and that cleo and etho BOTH cut out of their episodes, which is when all the green and yellow names are gathered around spawn looting the gear after plan bubblevate. cleo picks up a pair of diamond pants and holds onto them for a while trying to decide what to do with them, before eventually offering them to etho (even though pearl, her own ally, was also in iron). its such a subtle thing and it doesn't seem that important, really—it's just some discarded armor that she didn't even need herself. but like, someone who isn't even really your ally, that you've barely spent any time at all with together over the series, deliberately offering you an invaluable gift that would be much more useful to keep within their alliance as some kind of silent nod of understanding that, despite everything, you're looking out for each other.

and despite his general lack of sentimentality, etho remembered it as well and saw the gesture for exactly what it was, which was mercy. in a world where every exchange had a very What Can You Do For Me feel to it, cleo gave him those pants for no reason at all. later on when ren was trying to get the reds to go after cleo, etho said he doesn't want to hurt cleo, because she was nice to him and gave him diamond pants. they had barely any history together and were on pretty rocky terms up until that point (between etho betting for her death and stealing her brewing stand), but that moment was enough to cement the implicit understanding between them and turned cleo from someone etho barely knew to the only person he trusted to look out for him for the rest of the series. its just so. Whenever I see some statement about a hypothetical male (usually male character? I guess?) on this site I do a 'vibe check' of the post by replacing the gender on female and see if it still works. So like, if someone posted something sexual but kinda humiliating about a 'him' I try to imagine the same post about 'her' and if it is still a fair statement - it is an okay post! But if it suddenly became creepy after this change, I figure that I should not find it funny for a 'him' either and condemn the original post! Or if someone is gloating about how good it is that artists are ""fixing"" a canonically ugly male character, I try to imagine this statement about a female character... and, naturally, that leads to condemning the approach no matter what.

I honestly find it helpful, it is like keeping mind in shape against double standards! It is just kinda an easy trap in online spaces, where people will write and write about how "creepy" and "disrespectful" users can be towards fictional women, only to turn around and show the same attitude (often even worse) towards men. It is just... wrong. If someone wants to make a point about how certain feelings or statements are inherently vile, it should be applied to every person (well, character xd) equally, without distinction by gender! Like- if you can't "disrespect" a woman, you should not disrespect a man either. If you want to grossly objectify that male character, be okay if someone does the same with a female one! Like, whaaaaat, you think women are not important enough for their ""bad"" feelings, actions and words to 'count' as such? :p (I jest because sure they're only "bad" in very narrow near-puritan vision of how fandomry is done, but you see the point about how hypocritical this is!)

Ok so I had this idea for a klance Band!au and naturally…. I drew pidges character board first lmao.

So in this au the gang all goes to the same college and have diff majors but are all super into music and have cover bands. Lance, hunk and Pidge’s band is called Quintessence (makes my emo mind think of Evanescence) and Keith and Shiro are a lil band with no name (yet) and Lance hates them because they just get on the stage of the bar/lounge they preform at (called The Balmera) and shred on their guitar and bass and Lance is like you’re not even a real band, you don’t even sing! And then One day Lance preforms with his band and as he’s getting off stage with the crowd whistling he says to Keith “you and guitar only band beat that” and Keith goes out there and sings and plays and lance is in love.
