a happy accident

summary: spirits are high and patience is nonexistent during lantern rite, causing a certain adeptus to make a sudden appearance after someone falls from a balcony.

a/n: XIAOXIAO MY BELOVED- in this one reader doesn’t really know who xiao is, so.. yeye :) enjoy!

cw: probably ooc xiao, falling off a balcony, soft!xiao, messed around with time the tiniest bit so i’m very sorry if it’s confusing, lower case intentional!

you really didn’t mean to fall off the balcony.

- earlier in the evening.

it was a beautiful day, the sun casting its warm rays over the small crowds of people as it sank below the western horizon. you were enjoying lantern rite, trying as many different kinds of food as you could and dashing from stall to stall with your friends, playing games and solving puzzles.

and now you were closing the night off, resting at tables as the tea master liu su weaved a tale of the wrath of haishan. he seemed to be in a good mood, not closing off the story with needless cliffhangers and instead delivering the entirety.

during his narration, a person from a neighboring table called out loudly. “look! they’ve started the fireworks!”

there was a rush to the balcony, even if standing there and sitting at the tables made no huge difference, and you found yourself being pushed and jostled. people moved about behind you, and suddenly you were pressed against the fence.

you truly didn’t mind, either, because the way the lights danced in the sky entranced your vision. but you didn’t notice the people downstairs rushing up, eager for a glimpse as well. another push, another jostle, and suddenly the air was rushing around you, and you heard someone scream- was that you?

and then you were laying on the stone pathway, trembling slightly. someone kneeled beside you, a concerned expression on his face. he had piercing amber eyes framed by red eyeliner, a teardrop marking on his forehead, and dark and light green - or was it teal? you couldn’t tell anymore - hair. his lips were moving, and you felt his hands on your shoulders, shaking you.

“h-huh?” you asked, the ringing in your ears finally stopping. “were you saying something?”

he took a look over you, as if ensuring you were fine, before releasing your shoulders and moving back. “i.. my apologies. my emotions got the best of me,” he said, standing quickly and turning to leave. “be careful. you shouldn’t make a habit of falling off balconies.”

you tilted your head to the side, your mind still racing to catch up. “wait.. wait, i fell? from.. up there?” you asked, glancing up. if you really had fallen from that height, how were you uninjured?

he turned back slightly, eyeing you as you still laid on the floor. you felt your cheeks warm and hurriedly stood back up, dusting yourself off. “yes. there was a rush of people, and you ended up falling off.”

“then.. why didn’t i break anything?” you asked, looking at your limbs, brows furrowed. “there’s no way you caught me all the way down here, either.”

he looked at you curiously, as if he were confused. “you.. never mind. just be careful from now on,” he said, turning and walking away.

“wait!” you said, following after him. “could i at least know your name?”

he continued walking, pretending as if he couldn’t hear you, until; “none of your business.”

“maybe so, but i still want to know,” you said, walking alongside him. “i’ll just keep asking.”

his brows furrowed, like he either wanted to slap you or was just weighing his options. you kept your eyes on his hands, just in case it was the former.

“.. alatus,” he said softly, quiet enough you almost missed it.

“alatus?” you repeated, eyes coming back up to meet his. “that’s a pretty name.”

you pretended you didn’t see the way his cheeks reddened, instead sticking your hand out to shake his. “(y/n).”

he stared at your hand for a moment before shaking it tentatively, as if he was scared to hold it for even a moment. “.. nice name,” he said, looking away. you bit your lip to prevent a chuckle from escaping.

“thank you, alatus,” you said, smiling at him. “do you want to watch the fireworks with me?”

he looked back at you, surprised at your invitation. “.. as long as it’s not on a balcony,” he said, making you laugh softly.

“then why don’t you pick the spot?” you offered, glancing at the fireworks as you both walked through liyue.

he nodded, his gaze flitting over to you. “okay.. this way, then,” he said, leading you off into the night.

also! reasoning behind xiao giving his real name (alatus) instead of just xiao is because.. i don’t know :/ i just find it kinda cute cus he like saves someone but this someone is making him soft and then they ask for his name and he’s like o//~//o and just gives them his real name (i’m pretty sure it’s his real name i need to reread all his lore again) - i’m sorry i’m just so in love with this cutie !!!

I always thought Dr. Amaou would have made a more compelling human villain to be Prowl’s human nemesis because she would have been closer to a heroic reason. s

She could have tied in interestingly to the Earth plotline opposing the Cybertronians due to personal, easy to understand trauma as the result of the invasion and things happening in Phase 1 and Optimus's actions. Her betraying and turning on her former "allies" and being given the role of hunting them down and wanting to get rid of them due to the death of her daughter is compelling and tragic. And would have, despite my opinions on some of the ending, been an excellent parallel to what they did with Unicron and Cybertronians dealing with the fallout they caused others in the war. She'd be an excellent foil for a lot of characters, especially if they let her be complex and driven by grief and a desire to prevent repeating tragedies.

I just think she would have been a lot more interesting than Spike, and maybe you could even bring in Glit (instead of like two panels in the background) or the other KP characters to act as parallels and maybe be working with her. And it would have been another interesting point of view as the Cybertronians, even the "good ones" (IDW did use a lot of gray for all characters) as being viewed as monsters and villains in other stories.

Sorry for the ramble. I have a more organized idea of this, but a bit rambly now.

Basically yes to all of this.

Dr Amaou has been namedropped in VoS, incidentally, but she didn't interact much with Ravage.

I might do a side story involving Marissa and Glit.

Mostly what I know about the KP charas in VOS are that Xiaoxiao, Melissa and Kasai Convoy (a different convoy) are a trine, Atari Hitotonari is an FTM, and Marissa and Melissa embarrass each other a lot. Melissa is about to start making Marissa's life miserable, though, now that she knows Marissa is robosexual.

Prowl vs Dr Amaou is your idea though and you should TOTALLY do that. They would be SO GOOD at spy vs spy cat and mouse games and I would read the shit out of that.

欢乐颂 ode to joy 3 first impressions

the reboot makes me feel old-old but at least we still have the balloons?

yes, we all miss the quintet that were shengmei, andy, xiaoxiao, yingying & guanguan but first, here’s a brief intro before my thoughts on the new tenants of the 22nd floor:

2201 again with the aloof mystery lady with an english name - lucy fang zhiheng

2202 has the three flatmates setup (a jiejie and two ducklings) as before - zhu zhe, nickname jiji; he minhong; and yu chuhui, nickname a'chu

2203 still houses the fuerdai of the bunch - ye zhenzhen

(watched the five fully subbed episodes on viki and as of last night, 18 out of 33 have already aired so halfway mark now)

jiji is as sensible as hotel managers go. she may not leave you with a strong sense of who she is at the start but she's been working the longest among these ladies and her breadwinner energy shows. the smol ones ought to let jiejie enjoy her drama fix before bed in peace.

naïve + nosy is how i'd describe minhong... guess that comes with her being a green writer. initially shown as someone who wants to impart her morals (chided by her supervisor right away for aspiring such) in the magazine column, she's bound to learn from conflicts she'll cause.

a'chu has the signature turbulent family woes. that said, grew up well and is striving to strike balance between escaping poverty and being true to herself – developing engineer patents even though neither her nor her peers get credit while teaching kids ballet on the side.

zhenzhen acted as the welcome wagon to the trio. yes, she's a scientist-to-be (biochemistry field if we're being exact) living one good deed a day. outside the lab's spent bonding with the other ladies of 22nd floor - treating them to expensive ice cream and just chilling around.

she and zhenzhen moved in the same time but rarely do we glimpse the two beauties mingling. by design since lucy's miss i-got-my-hands-full: keeping up her luxury appearances and keeping a semblance of normal when she should probably get therapy. she longs for their warm friendship from afar.

chemistry between the five is still wanting in organic interactions department, which is given. much has changed in the shanghai residential complex since the original series was on. years passed. 22nd floor corridor itself is laid different. our original 22nd floor jiejies may have moved on to hopefully better lives yet women in the workforce continue to struggle, maybe even more so with how reductive society has turned into. this otj reboot feels dated, though. at least, daylight entertainment's approach in these early episodes i have seen. the mansplainer of a narrator is gone, lemme just say that's a relief personally.

but y'know what bugs me? how they've opted to tackle sexual harassment.

raising the discussion via media in itself is fine. such abuse of power imbalance shouldn't be swept under the rug, considering countless women on a daily basis are coerced into silence because of the indifference. too few real-life jiji/a'chu/zhenzhen who believes immediately. but one of the guys in the main cast, lucy's suitor, is very attached to this so-called theme exploration. spoiler alert: he's the son of the company superior who assaulted lucy. gonna spare y'all the grim details but, of course, she alone knows of the connection. left to process such trauma by herself while fending off his dogged pursuits - at the office, at the mma gym and later on, even at her hls apartment. what kind of plot?! from the closing credits, he's not bound to leave anytime soon.

my main worry is the narrative will prove her reluctance wrong, that he's a Good Guy, tied neat bow and all that jazz when that does absolutely NOTHING to address the shitty lot that would have been avoided if he wasn't related to this godforsaken dog bloodedness to begin with. if it's only an afterthought to the writer, i just wanna voice that when you've penned a franchise jumpstarting the trend of female-centric modern set cdramas and then you want to continue that brand today? maybe you should update your sensibilities first.

we embrace women's wrongs in this house, not when women are wronged.

quips won't make the cut with the audiences that easily anymore.

xiao hasn’t received many good things in his long life, even after being freed from the shackles that were placed upon him by his former master at the hand of rex lapis. but you… although he has yet to admit it out loud, you rekindled the lost flame of joy that he had all those centuries ago, once extinguished by the harsh winds of reality and fate. xiao swore to protect you, to keep you safe, to take care of you. if you even so much as whisper his name into the wind, he will hear you, and he will come to you no matter the cost. he always has.

just seeing you, spending time with you.. fills his chest with an indescribable amount of ecstasy and happiness, happiness he wasn’t sure he even deserved to receive from someone as pure and precious as you, but the feeling was so elating and euphoric that xiao found that he couldn’t care. you bring such peace, so much happiness into this world that there is barely anything left for him in this world after your departure, a fact he finds absolutely intolerable. xiao would rather give up everything in order to have you return home safely and to be able to see you again. it makes the pain and weight of his karmic debt more tolerable somehow, less unbearable, and he isn’t sure what else he can do but to hold onto hope for the future when hope feels like he has run out of oxygen.

when your smile brightens his world, it seems to illuminate everything around you, too; a warmth in his heart and soul, an almost magnetic pull towards you, something so intrinsic to the very essence of who he truly is that xiao doesn’t know how to describe it. it’s not fear that he feels whenever he sees you, though, because it’s so easy for him to forget the horrors of the past - you are still so young, yet so soft, so caring, so sweet. you’re like a beacon that shines throughout the darkest corner of his heart; like one of the brightest suns—no, the brightest sun. you burn so bright, but never had you once burned anyone.

xiao was not the moon, he was never even a star to begin with. but you, you were the sun. his sun. the light to his darkness. you are the only thing in this world worth fighting for. he has devoted the entirety of his existence to protecting you, from whatever might threaten you. he loves and cares for you so dearly that he could cry at the thought of ever hurting you, but he also wouldn’t stop fighting against himself if it meant protecting you without any repercussions. he is willing to fight for every single thing he holds dear, and he knows that you are worth it. you are worth his whole existence. he knows that now more than anyone else. he knows it with all his heart.

and you deserve the world. so much more than he could ever dream to provide. it’s okay that xiao didn’t deserve that, or even the possibility of having you in his presence; it’s okay that he has nothing. but you deserve love and affection; all of it. you deserve everything good in the world. you deserve everything good that xiao could offer you. so, so much. but most importantly, xiao thinks you deserve happiness. you deserve to be happy. he knows you don’t need him or the world or anyone to give you happiness. your own hands can provide it, but even then, xiao wants nothing more than to give it to you. he wants to take care of you. he wants the world to leave you alone and let you be happy.

he wishes the gods of celestia would be just a bit kinder to you.

“xiaoxiao!! can we go stargazing together?” you had suddenly asked him, and with the pure, genuine spark of excitement in your eyes, how in the name of rex lapis could he even have the cruel heart to refuse? he was so weak for you… so, so weak. but he didn’t have it in him to say no, so he agreed with a small smile gracing his features so now here he was, allowing himself be led by you into the night sky of the moonless night. ‘it has been a while since I last went stargazing with them.’ he thought to himself.

as they took their spot at the side of a very pretty clearing. you took a seat next to him, legs crossed as you admired the stars with your own pair of soft [eye color] eyes that had been filled with longing ever since you were born; you couldn’t help it. xiao liked the way the stars seemed to shine brighter and brighter when you looked at them with such fondness. as his golden eyes looked over at you, the starlight reflected beautifully off his gorgeous dark green and teal locks.

the two of you were content just sitting quietly beside each other under a canopy of stars, enjoying the other's company. it was all quiet for several minutes until you finally decided to break the silence, pointing at different constellations of which that piqued your interest. the more you pointed at the bright, shining stars, the wider the grin became on your lips until you reached to point out two specific stars that were not there before, causing xiao to look over at you with curiousity. you explained the names of these two stars to him patiently and gently as if the stars were something precious, even though both you and he knew they weren’t exactly rare, or precious… but they were special either way.

you had always been like this with everything that caught your eye.

xiao listened intently to every word you said. it was true that he wasn't good with words, especially things that could possibly relate back to the topic at hand (like astrology), but there was something about hearing what you had to say that made it all feel so much more meaningful than if he were enjoying the texture of almond tofu. your tone was so soothing, it made the entire time seem worth every second of every minute spent listening to you. after all, xiao was well aware that you were someone who enjoyed spending time by themself as well; maybe it was because you were such a sweet person that it rubbed off on others… and you were so kindhearted too. (and not to mention, rather persistent.)

he never wanted to take away the joy in your face from him (especially since you had an adorable, lovable smile). so, whenever he could manage to make you happy he tried his best, and the result seemed to be the same, whether it was a big gesture or a subtle touch, it always did.

“i told you to call my name, did i not? why did you not call my name?” xiao questioned, eyes fixated on treating the wounds on your knees. he’s already so scared for you, that something would happen to you without his knowledge. he doesn’t want to lose you, even if it means losing himself as well. xiao has always been rather protective of you, hovering over you like a helicopter parent. he always tries not to get attached to people too quickly — it ends up hurting more when it inevitably does. but xiao has grown accustomed to the feeling of loneliness that comes with losing someone, and it has hurt him terribly.

and despite that, despite how much he’s tried to suppress it, the pain of losing you would hurt so much more. you opened your mouth to refute, but xiao beat you to it. “yes, i know ganyu was with you. but even still, you should have called. me being busy shouldn’t stop you from doing so, especially when you were in danger.”

a few hours earlier, when you were spending time with ganyu, the two of you had been ambushed by several geovishap hatchlings. she was strong, of course, but her fighting style was long-ranged, while theirs was close-ranged. those vishap hatchlings never roll in a straight line. therefore, when you trying to dodge one of its attacks, you ended up tripping over the roots of a nearby tree, landing unceremoniously on the ground. ganyu cloaked herself in frost and dashed forward, leaving behind an ice lotus in her place, before it eventually exploded and killed the vishaps. which then led to this conversation.

“sorry.” you said quietly, turning your face away. you looked so dejected that xiao felt his heart shatter into a million pieces. you weren’t supposed to look like this; it wasn’t fair. “i didn’t mean to worry you.” that just made xiao’s heart break even more. his gaze softened and he gently brushed some stray strands of hair out of your face. “it’s fine, just please call me next time, okay?” his heart filled with a mixture of emotions, mostly guilt. even if he wasn’t the cause for your injuries.

“okay!”

xiao knew that this day would come eventually, when he would be forced to part ways with you. but he didn’t think it would come so soon… he has never had such deep-rooted hatred for the flames of destruction as he did this very moment. but even then, he knew, that he didn’t have anyone but himself to blame. he wasn’t there for you when you needed him the most, he was weak and useless when you needed protection and help the most. he wasn’t there when you needed him most. he was angry and bitter at himself for being so.. useless. he felt worthless. xiao wanted to die, just like the others. if he had arrived on time, maybe he could have saved your life instead of allowing you to get wrecked and buried into the burning debris that was once the place you and he called home.

he wished he could go back in time to change his failure. but he can’t. and that really, truly hurts. he would make up for those failures one way or another. but he couldn’t do that with you. and that’s what xiao regrets the most. he wishes he had taken better care of you. maybe the two of you would have stayed together longer. maybe you would have stayed happy. maybe the two of you would have survived and lived happily together, living amongst a group of friends and family and never being alone ever again. but there was no use wishing for what could have been. all that was that left were the memories that xiao could never go back to.

and as he lost his footing and fell to the ground, still holding onto his spear, xiao supposes that even nature was mourning your loss from the way that rain began to pour, soaking his hair, skin and clothes, but most importantly, extinguishing the flames that took you along with it. for the first time in over a millenia, he allowed himself to cry, to grieve, to weep, for he has lost the only blessing in his life to his own incompetence.

in the end, this whole ordeal was worse than any loss he could possibly bear. he would trade his entire life, his whole existence, if it meant you were safe and happy. xiao would give anything to live with you once more. xiao would sacrifice everything just for you to smile once more. but, he supposes, he cannot ask for such things. he cannot ask for your life back, even in exchange for his own. he will never be able to forgive himself. he will never forgive himself for letting you down. he wasn’t sure if he’ll be able to ever even recover from this terrible loss. archons, how he hated this.

he lost you.

he lost his sun.

and he felt a very familiar darkness swallow him whole, and his heart had become vacant and numb once more.

Summary: When Macaque was killed, he expected his soul to be taken to the Diyu. Instead, he finds himself stuck to Wukong- the very man who ended his life. When Soul collectors come to see what the hold up is, they inform him that as the two had been tethered in life, so too are they in death. Macaque will only ever be free when Wukong has found peace and moves on. This goes on for a long time, yet when Macaque feels the tether start to loosen, he panics and realizes- he doesn't want Wukong to let him go.

Together they live there until the child is born. 5 years later, Wukong's Journey To the West is done. Returning home to no mate or child, he is desperate to track them down and bring them home. A certain Bull King and Iron Fan stand in his way.

Summary: Based on Taken once more, but with the twist that instead of taking MK to the human world, Nezha took MK with him to the celestial Realm. From there he raised MK himself as his apprentice. Hiding him with a glamor and instilling a misguided loyalty to the Jade Emperor. The Jade Emperor is insistent one of the twins must still die, but agrees to keep MK around, hoping to find a chance to kill the other twin instead and keep the loyal MK as his own bodyguard.

Taken Reverse/Swapped

Summary: Another Taken Au. XiaoXiao and MK are born, but instead of MK being taken Xiaoxiao is instead. He would be Xiaohua in this one. Xiaohua, who is abandoned at an orphanage, winds up being taken in by the Spider Queen when he shows promise as a thief. Xiaohua is iving the life of crime, while in return MK (Xiaotian) is being raised to follow in his Father's footsteps as a hero. The two eventually meet and clash.

Parent Trap

Summary: Based on Taken once more. Isn't quite like the normal LMK lore. When MK and his twin brother Xiaohua were babies, their parents separated, each taking one of the infants with them. MK went with Wukong, and Xiaohua with Macaque. When the two get older, they manage to miraculously meet at a Summer Camp and discover the truth. Now these two working on a plan to reunite their parents.

Strange title I Know, but it’s the best way to describe this section

-The Day the World Eclipsed (the Original Plot)

-most may know this, but I changed the plot of the Story within the first few chapters. When Wukong left to head to the City, intent on finding a new home for his son… he was originally intended to go through with that.

I have Many MANY chapters of this unfolding- of Wukong actually going through with abandoning MK.

It was farrrr different than what the story has changed to now. And I love the direction the story is now going, but I had a lot of angst planned for the original :)

One day I might even post what originally was intended to happen.
