奥多摩 大菩薩ラインから甲州市へ 2022晩秋 To the Katunuma area popular for JAPAN WINE through the Yanagisawa Pass by the mountain driving from the Tokyo metropolitan area late autumn 2022

❝ i mean, i’ve met professional assassins before in class but, only one has ever decided to quit. i think... i’m stopping after this assignment ends, if i could back out now i would. ❞ they had just gotten finished sparring with each other after talking for a bit and getting nagisa to agree. he knew he’d hold up for a little bit but he couldn’t keep up with someone of killua’s stature. he was lucky that he won against karma on principle, he could have grabbed the knife but knew it wouldn’t be the right way to go. but killua, they weren’t the same kind of people, in killua’s world it would have been over right then and there for nagisa.
❝ have you ever regretted a mission ?? i mean... why did you decide to quit ?? ❞ he knows why he himself wants to stop, it felt wrong trying to kill their teacher when they knew the backstory now. how he was in love with their passed teacher, how the government and yanagisawa worked together and it made them fuming. he’d... rather find a way out of this.

his sight has been tainted is the only thing that had passed through his mind, he wasn’t using his tentacles well enough and he’d failed them, not the other way around. running from the initial fight he was in, the teen had his nails digging through white locks of hair to his scalp. trembling now, he took a knee while growling deep in his chest as the pain was beginning to become unmanageable. to both his knees now, the smaller’s hands pulled at his hair as if it it would rip away the damage settling into his brain matter.
he wasn’t thinking about how he just ran away from the class fight, or how he ran away from yanagisawa, the only thing that was emitting through him was pain. forehead now to the floor as he was beginning to foam at the mouth, twitching from the pain now shooting through his whole body. vision was getting blurry as he could feel the roots of the tentacles tensing up, and releasing, but tensing up again in the end as he got more and more stressed out.
not being able to hear footsteps coming up in front of him, tears were starting to form and threaten his waterline with overflowing. a fist pounding the ground trying to muster past it, attempting to get to his feet and stand, to go back to his fight and take what was rightfully his, the win. all he wanted was to win to not be in pain anymore, to—
pop. a clean disconnect from the root of his tentacles being ripped clean from his scalp as he was just getting back to his knees. vision was still blurry as he tried to get a good look at who was in front of him... it wasn’t yanagisawa, he’d just get taken out with tranquilizers and put back for more experiments. his heart... must have really wanted to be done with those tentacles deep down in order for them to release from him despite him feeling weaker now.
❝ why... did you do that, i could have gone back, gotten more upgrades... ❞

Shoutout to a baller au idea popping into my head randomly and then consuming my thoughts
To summarize: AU where Aguri is still a normal teacher and Korosensei is the (still human) assassin hired to kill her.
Koro’s hired by Yanagisawa to assassinate Aguri for whatever reason (probably just because he’s tired of her and/or wants a life insurance payout or something).  Koro’s said in the anime that he has the skills to pose as a teacher if need be, so that’s exactly what he does.  He graciously offers to help her teach the class, and uses the position to gather intel and find a proper opening.
Just by the merit of teaching at Kunugigaoka, especially with that principal breathing down everyone’s necks all the time, finding a good opening isn’t exactly easy.  He knows this mark is going to require a certain finesse, as well as observation and planning.
Ideally he would be able to do it outside of school, but he finds that Aguri really doesn’t go out much.  She’s either at home with Yanagisawa, at school, or in public places really not suited for assassination.  Even if she’s alone at home, he’s not about to try that because then his client would more than likely get accused.
During the observation period he interacts with her a lot, as well as the students.  Like in canon, she doesn’t really have anyone to talk to about things, at school or at home, so she’s stoked to have someone on the same level as her for once that she can truly connect with.  He’s used to forming small surface level relationships with his marks to earn their trust, but this time it’s a little different.
Spoiler warning he falls in love with her.  Where else were you expecting this to go.
As far as the au itself goes, it’s pretty slice-of-life-y interspersed with more dramatic points.  Most of it is Aguri and Korosensei getting to know each other, and Aguri passing on her teaching philosophies through their conversations (in this AU Reaper 2.0 isn’t a thing, but Koro’s teaching philosophy would remain the same regardless).  He slowly develops through getting to know her and getting to know the students.  While at first he wholeheartedly agreed with the Principal, he slowly finds himself less and less on that man’s side.
He doesn’t go full assassination classroom on these kids because that would be Worrying, but he does use his skills as an assassin to teach them certain things, just like canon Koro does.  They notice that he uses an interesting amount of killing metaphors and allegory but they think it’s just a weird quirk.
While Aguri’s trying to figure out this guy who’s friendly but oddly mysterious, he’s trying to weigh the pros and cons of killing her.  And while that may seem like an easy choice for any normal sane person, you have to understand why this is difficult for him.  He’s very much in love, that much is true, but he’s also the Reaper.  Assassination is all he knows; it’s all he’s ever known.  In giving up this mark (and presumably all marks after if he really wanted to get with her) he wouldn’t just be giving up a career, he’d be giving up his entire life and identity.  And if she ever found out his past… it wouldn’t go well.
Even still, he wonders if he can even build up the nerve to kill her.  To leave both her and the students behind.  As much as he hates to admit it, he’s grown fond of them.  The feeling is strange, but it’s nice.
There’s also the supporting conflicts of the Principal existing and Yanagisawa constantly wondering why Aguri isn’t dead yet, questions which Koro deflects any time he’s presented with them.  He’s a professional and he’s gathering intel.  These things take time.  He doesn’t actually care about these people, that would be ridiculous: he’s just keeping up the necessary illusion.  He wouldn’t expect you to understand.
When Aguri eventually does find out, she’s more upset at the fact that he was lying to her than the fact that he’s an assassin hired to kill her.  Like, yeah she’d probably be put off by the whole killing her part, but in canon she fell for Koro knowing full well he was a dangerous manipulative person who’d killed over a hundred people.  Clearly that’s something she’s willing to look past.
Like I said, she’d be more hung up on the illusion aspect.  She really connected with this person, and now she’s having to wonder if that entire connection was just an act.  Does he really enjoy their time together, or was he just being amiable because he had to?  God, how desperate is she that she falls in love with the first person who bats their stupidly long adorable eyelashes at her?
Though her brushing off the murder can be played for comedy it's still is a very real rough spot, and it’s not something Koro can easily recover from.  How do you tell someone “yeah I was lying before but I’m not lying this time I swear” without sounding like a total jackass?
That's all I really have for now but expect more in the future

Momo and Ryoma's friendship is one of the best in POT. Momoshiro literally dragged Ryoma to his date with Ann because he didn't want to go alone. And Ryoma went with him (even if he really didn't want to)!!
Also, this one time, Inui took over, with his job as the Seigaku's gossip club vice president and immediately assembled all its members + whoever they dragged with them.
(Momo is the club's president and first member, and Ryoma was the second, but they all decided to give Inui the job of the vice president because he's really into gathering any kind of data from tennis' skills to who is dating who and Ryoma is just there because he is entertaining his senpais, who couldn't and wouldn't be without their baby).
Inui called Eiji first, since he's the fourth member of the club and couldn't pass the opportunity to mess with Momo.
Then, he called Kawamura, who is soft and kind, but also really, really curious. Also, Echizen is his favorite kouhai, so Taka'll always tag along if it's something that involves him. From then on, Taka's considered the sixth member of the gossip club, because the fifth seat is already taken.
He called Tezuka to include him, but Tezuka thinks he's too cool for this (but, even if he thinks - or makes other people think - that he's above that, at the end of the day, he'll always know everything, and isn't that curious since he's someone that hates gossip? Tezuka thinks he fooled all of them, but the whole club knows he's one of the worst gossipers out there, so they accept him as the eighth member and he's always kept informed, even if he will never admit he enjoys it).
Oishi comes along for two reasons: to keep an eye on everything and make sure no one will get hurt, also because he's the unofficial fifth member. Once he was aware of the club, he approached them and demanded to be called every meeting, if only you ensure everyone's safety (no, not because he was curious at all, how dare they suggest that???)
Kamio and Shinji are the gossip club connections to Fudomine. Sometimes, all of them will meet and trade all the stories from their respective schools. Shinji's always mumbling and complaining around Echizen, but he is really fond of the kid (they can play doubles sometimes and look at them teaming up against Momo and Kamio) and Kamio tags along (only to keep Tachibana informed, he claims - but that doesn't fool anyone).
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Mizuki tried to be part of the club, but the Seigaku members immediately shot his request down (through Ryoma, who stared at him and said "no, not in this life time"), because Fuji was the club's seventh member, and would kill them all if they accepted it. But they did accept Yuuta (to Fuji's great joy) and Yanagisawa, because he seemed really idle (he took offense on that, but never missed a meeting).
Fuji's the club seventh member. No one but Ryoma knows that, but he's the biggest gossip of them all. If he wanted to, he could take the role of the club's president from Momo. Also, he enjoys to watch people embarrass themselves or suffer in anyway, really, so he'll always be there for any meeting. The first few meetings, when they didn't realize he wanted to be in the club, they didn't call him at first. But he was always there within a few minutes. His gossip net was so great that he always knew the subject of the meeting, even when he wasn't involved. After the third time they met during a meeting, he officially joined the club. He thinks it's a great way to get closer to his teammates, especially his most favorite kouhai, Ryoma, so the club could always count on him.
Kaidou's the ninth member. At first, he didn't join it. Mostly, it was because he wasn't aware of it and got the brunt of it (see Kaidou's bad day), he's also indecisive (he's a good boy, you see, so he's always weighting the I WANT TO KNOW and the IT'S NOT MY BUSINESS. But, since he always get involved anyway, he decided to always tag along and have fun).

ahaha,, what if,, i requested for angsty kayano hcs 😳😳 just kidding,, unless...?
Hmm...
Her dad was never in the picture…after her mom passed away, Aguri was the main guardian in her life, who raised her, taught her, loved her…Once Kayano was a little older, she was passed off to her manager and thrusted into the entertainment industry, while Aguri was sold to Yanagiswa. Kayano doesn’t even remember much of who her father is, just feels an overwhelming sense of rage and sadness at the thought of him.
After leaving the destroyed lab, Kayano went home...and just felt empty. The rage and grief, seeking revenge came later. That night, she did her routine as usual, and just lost it when she accidentally said “Night, Aguri.” And there was no response. She started sobbing, and didn’t stop until the early morning.
She never had any idea what the extent of Yanagisawa’s abuse was...otherwise she would’ve mauled him before he could touch Aguri again. She thought he was a sleazy asshole, but tried her best to trust Aguri’s word that it was okay. Once she found out, after Aguri’s death, she was so close to murdering the bastard. She forced herself to stay calm and focus on kiling Korosensei...that mattered more, getting rid of Aguri’s killer...then her abuser.
After revealing her identity to the class, Kayano pretends she’s okay, just out of habit. But the truth was, that she felt emptier and more confused than ever. It was so hard discerning where the line was between “Akari and Kayano” and which version she should show to the class. In the end, she picked Kayano since they were used to it, and she got attached to that persona.
She stays awake for nights, wondering if the class even accepts her, or they’re just pretending. She lied to them, faked her identity...that can’t be easily forgiven. She braces herself for the day where they reject her and want nothing more to do with her.
TW: implications of sexual abuse
The entertainment industry is an extremely dark place behind the scenes…Kayano considers herself one of the luckier ones, knowing what happens to most young girls.
It’s also that experience that makes her wary when interacting with adults a lot…she’s great at hiding it, but her skin crawls if a conversation is going too long or they start complimenting her.

I made a mistake in my Sakura Wars trivia video from a few months back. According to this tweet, Yoshiteru Tsujino (aka Torajirou Tsujino) confirmed that the original character designs featured in Sakura Wars’s pitch document were actually drawn by his wife Misa Yanagisawa (柳沢美佐). She is credited as one of the Sub Character Designers in the first game’s credits and is responsible for helping to design the villain characters. Yanagisawa also did a number of illustrations for the Tengai Makyou series, such as the image featured above, and worked on a number of other titles at Red Company. She sadly passed away in a tragic accident in 2011.

So in Koro Q (manga), Okajima becomes the target of Hayami's bug
This basically implies:
Hayami believes Okajima is an enemy
Hayami subconsciously believes Okajima is an enemy
We know Hayami has tried to pass stuff to people (Okajima, specifically) without inflicting damage, but apparently that doesn't work.
Tumblr media
... So I'm thinking that the bug itself has some sort of strange mind of its own that "helps" Hayami to determine who's an enemy. So despite whatever personal thoughts Hayami has towards Okajima, even if Hayami wanted to help Okajima at that moment, the bug would still be like "lol" and send stuff hurtling between Okajima's legs.
It's almost like the bug is conditioned to attack Okajima. I mean, Terasaka's been shown to be "accidentally" hit by Hayami's bug (Terasaka was manipulated by Shiro at one point), but the only one that's been hit in the vital spots is (to no one's surprise) Okajima.
I'm pretty sure this was set up as a running gag, referencing Hayami's shooting skills, Okajima's pervert self and the General Dislike Of Okajima As A Perv. Hence why the bug specifically targets Okajima's vital spots no matter what. And this spawns some headcanons:
Hayami uses it as a way to locate Okajima during missions
Similarly, when Hayami is separated from her group, she uses it to find them by following the path of whatever she throws
Everytime Kataoka gets mad at Okajima for doing something stupid, she uses Hayami's bug to threaten him
... At this point everyone just tells Hayami to throw something once in a while to remind Okajima to behave
When the group meets someone new, they tell Hayami to throw something to see if Hayami's bug sees them as an enemy or not
Shiro: *breathes*
Hayami: *yeets*
Shiro: *gets hit*
Class: guESS HE'S AN ENEMY NOW
Korosensei: guys wait I think he's Yanagisawa
... And that's how the plot advances in Koro Q.

I had made a next generation AC OC Fanfic, where Koro-sensei and Aguri had a child.
Okay, you heard it right.
So I have created a next generation Assassination Classroom fanfic that features Koro-sensei and Aguri's son, who I named 'Tsukiro Yukimura'. His name, Tsukiro, means 'son of the moon'.
He was created by Kotarou Yanagisawa through a spin-off research, by putting Koro-sensei's genes to Aguri's egg cells. He wanted to see if the antimatter genes and abilities can be passed to multiple generations, and it totally worked.
The fertilized egg was put in a perfect surrogate mother, considering the fact that Aguri had died a year ago. And was born 12 days before Koro-sensei died.

So like I've been scrolling through some of your Ass Class stuff because your posts are neat, and I kept seeing villain posts mixed with your 3-E posts, which made me think of a weird question: If we ignore the fact the villains did bad things to the Class E characters, like if we have an AU without Takaoka punching kids or Gakuhou enforcing unfair rules, who do you think each student would get along with most? You don't have to do all the students, just maybe a few of your favorites!
Aww, thank you Anon for this sweet message! And for your patience because I sure took my sweet time writing this. Also it’s going to be long. Be warned.
To be honest… I’m not sure how to tackle this question. If Gakuho don’t enforce unfair rules, then class E as it is can’t exist, ie no separate building, no ‘only one teacher for all of them’, no exclusion from club activities. Which means the story of AC can’t exist, as Korosensei’s presence would be found in like… three days. And without Korosensei around, you don’t have Shiro, Takaoka or Nidaime. Which is kinda a problem if we want them interacting.
So, for this, let’s just ignore all the reasons all those villains would or would not interact with class E students. They’re just… here, I suppose.
Now, let’s go on and define who do I include as villains. Of course, we have the main four, Gakuho, Yanagisawa ie Shiro, Takaoka, and 2nd gen God of Death aka Nidaime. But… should we include every antagonist? I’m sure you will agree that Gakushuu and the other Virtuosos, while big rivals, don’t really count as ‘villains’. Nagisa’s mother? She’s certainly a villain, and actually my current favorite of the lot, but also she doesn’t have enough development to really see how she would act without the abuse. The three hitmen? End up being friendly in a way, if you include then you must also include Irina, Itona and Kayano to the villain lists, so no, they’re antagonists. Then I guess there’s Houjo or that random soldier in the anime, but nobody care about them. You might as well talk about Kunudon instead. Is that your true goal, Anon. Make me talk about Kunudon. Right, I thought so. Let’s just talk about the main four instead.
Before we go into which student would have who of the four as a favourite, we need to understand how would they interact with them without punches, kidnappings and all that.
Gakuho is probably the easiest to imagine, from his flashback personality and his post-assassination attempt moments. A cordial man who have his students’ interests at heart, able to speak about many subjects (and might brag a little about that), but have a few tricks up his sleeve to get them to study (like how Ikeda had one daily chance to defeat him every day), or just casually insert learning opportunities in conversation (the way he suddenly ask Terasaka how much chances Korosensei had to win). Frankly, the only students who would have a problem with him are probably the Terasaka gang, as they aren’t fond of authority figures, and Takebayashi, who don’t dislike authority figures so much as would feel a lot of pressure in interacting properly and leaving a good impression. Strangely enough, I feel like Karma would get along very well with him, as Gakuho would probably take him seriously and try to find challenges to nurture his potential. Plus, Gakushuu would be so annoyed that those two get along, it would be hilarious.
Now, the whole “have plenty of talents and can probably talk about various subjects (and is proud of it)” is also something you will find in Nidaime, but as for interactions, he would have no interest in teaching the class E students, nor is he in a position above them (as far as they’re concerned), so it would be way more casual. I’m not sure he would actually care much about them, without the whole assassination thing- it would be more of a business relationship, and just him being cordial whenever they happen to pass by, as part of his persona of the kind neighbourhood florist. He might end up having discussions with them on the subject of flowers or plants in general, which would certainly interest Kurahashi and Kanzaki (a former Ikebana club member), and maybe money-related subject (how to save money, how to make people pay more…) which Isogai would be really invested in.
Now, on someone who actually wants to teach but of a completely different character, we have Takaoka. Even without the punching, kicking, and all the physical violence, he’s a very tactile guy. Pat on the shoulders, slap on the backs, pulling someone almost like an hug… He’s also a loud and very enthusiastic guy. This kind of overbearing personality can be really divisive, you either like it or hate it but it’s hard to stay indifferent. Mostly he will make the shyer, calmer ones a bit uneasy, while people like Sugino or Okano would probably really be into it? And also, he buys lot of sweets. Which is automatically an A+ for the sweet alliance club (aka Hara, Kurahashi, Fuwa and Kayano).Which leave us with Yanagisawa. Which is a really tough case, as I just don’t see him interacting with children or teenagers more than he have to, and even less than that. Too emotional, too stupid for him. Plus, Yanagisawa… even taking into account that the whole tentacle experiment must have been a really stressful/tiring time, and that he was in a superior hierarchical position to everyone else in the lab… in the flashbacks, he was kind of a jerk. And I see him as one that lack the self-awareness that he’s a jerk, which make it really troublesome to interact with him. Sure, he can be a pleasant person whenever he wants to (as Akari explains to her big sis, ‘he looks fine on the outside’)- but why would he want to be pleasant to a bunch of 14 year olds who don’t have anything to bring him? (Or at least in this AU- this is why Anon’s question is tricky, as in a Korosensei setting it might happen differently). However… despite this, I feel a few students could still approach him.Okuda, without a doubt, as her fascination with science surpass any apprehension she could have to any potential hostility. She is a girl that stepped out of her comfort zone plenty of times, and she doesn’t seems to care about past reputations, if we consider her friendship with Karma? So, surely, she would certainly find the courage to ask questions about Yanagisawa’s work, because it must be so interesting. Plus, for all the disdain he can have, I don’t feel like Yanagisawa would be one to mock a particular science subject (for example, physicists that downplay how hard chemistry is), as the whole tentacle thing touched on both physics, biology and probably chemistry? So, really, as long as Okuda don’t try to ask for an internship under him she would probably actually appreciate him.Takebayashi… would probably respect Yanagisawa’s achievements, but I don’t see him going out of his way to interact with him. Mostly, if he pass by and the conversation peek his interest, he might end up exchanging.
Then we have Yanagisawa’s other interests. We do see him do magic tricks, notably some with doves. He also play with a rat in some chapter that he absolutely did not eat, what the heck Matsui, that was so…. So there are chances Kurahashi might just coo at the birds and find a common subject to talk about, pet raising and maybe insects? I could see Yanagisawa appreciating entomology.Another thing he seems to like is mangas- or at least the WSJ he’s seen reading. So, of course Fuwa have ignored all her previous assessments of the man just so she could talk about the latest chapter of whatever is trending. And Yanagisawa is sure to have very different point of views from her, so it’s bound to be interesting! How many times do you bet he actually root for the antagonist and defend the villain’s side. Or point out how stupid a plot point is. Or how science don’t work that way.
So! With that in mind, here are a list of which student would get along best with which villain, in this strange AU where they’re just here and not doing anything villainous; an incomplete list, as I only put the cases I felt really sure about:
Karma would, surprisingly, be partial to Gakuho? Because he’s paying attention to his students and also one who would actually try to challenge Karma intellectually. Plus, he likes to brag about his own son, and that’s just free teasing material against Gakushuu. What’s not to love about this situation.
Isogai would probably like Nidaime more. All the good advices for money savings and how to get a good relation with one’s clients that he could reuse as a waiter.
Okano and Kimura, I’m replying for them together because it’s a similar reasoning. They’re both physical, simple people, which I feel would get along more easily with Takaoka.
Okuda’s favorite would probably be Yanagisawa, at the surprise of most in the class, because really, how interested in science is she to ignore his unpleasant attitude, but most of it goes over her head in the first place.
Kanzaki… probably Nidaime due to her club, as mentioned earlier? And then it is revealed that, among all prizes and titles the Chairman got, he also won some video game competition that just make Kanzaki wants to challenge him.
Kurahashi is the girl that get along with everyone because she’s just like that. Incredible.
Sugino’s easy, he’s an enthusiastic guy who get easily friendly with people and who put a lot of efforts toward his sport of predilection, so he would probably go along well with Takaoka.
Takebayashi could go either with Yanagisawa or Nidaime, which is funny since they’re not really alike, but then that’s often the case with Takeban, isn’t it? Model student, with a good understanding of science and a respect of high achievements (but that would probably feel too pressured talking with the Chairman of his school), but also one that want to trace his own path and might be more dangerous than one might think at first.
Nakamura likes to be silly and want to have fun, so it might seems she would be partial to Takaoka, but I’m not sure she wouldn’t appreciate Nidaime more? More… mischievous, I guess.
Maehara… oh god, wouldn’t that be really ironic if his favorite was Takaoka? I mean, Maehara’s a bright young guy that was in the soccer club, and also pulled some nice dance moves in Korotan D, wasn’t he? But then, being around someone like Nidaime would be a real lesson on how to seduce the ladies and gentlemen too
…As you can see, I’m missing a lot of people on the list because I’m not sure what to think of them. Terasaka’s gang, for example, would probably not get along with Gakuho because he’s a symbol of authority, and neither would they appreciate someone like Yanagisawa; but would they actually get along with Takaoka, who’s someone uncomplicated, and also a physical kind of guy, but at the same time one who ask people to be really invested in their activities? Even for Hazama I’m not sure; she does stay around the rest of the gang, so it’s not like she feels uncomfortable with those kind of people. Plus, the whole enthusiastic thing, as one can see with Kurahashi that it exaust Hazama (well, starve her from her darkness) but at the same time, ‘They say that darkness is drawn to the light… ‘
In fact, on the subject of Takaoka, as I said he’s really divisive, and on the ones not on the list, I feel he probably wouldn’t be a favorite of the less social ones like Chiba, Hayami or Sugaya. Given Mimura’s awkward face in some panels I would say he would have an hard time, too. And I don’t really see them get along with Yanagisawa, so really, it’s a matter of chosing between Gakuho and Nidaime, and I can’t really tell which one they would chose.
Hara, on the contrary, is one that’s ‘good at handling the boys’ and is part of the sweet alliance, but would that be enough for her to choose Takaoka over one of the other not-villains?
…And I still have no idea for Kataoka. Neither for Fuwa- I evoked earlier she had a common ground to speak to Yanagisawa but that just mean I don’t exclude him, so I have even less of an idea what she would do. I absolutely don’t know about Okajima either- Gakuho probably knows about photography because he knows about everything, but he would probably be jugemental of Okajima’s other hobbies. Well, I guess Nidaime would be great at photography too that’s a basic spy/recon skill, gotta have that blackmail material. And Yada? I feel like she would appreciate Nidaime more but I don’t really have a basis for it?
Akari-Kayano, too, she could go a lot of ways- except one because her ex-brother-in-law is totally her unfavorite, for reasons that might all not be all that objective.
…Who’s Nagisa. Now you’re just inventing students.

1, 8, 9 and 10 for the salty thingy?
1. What OTPs in your fandom(s) do you just not get?
This is the part where I’d say J.oshn.eku, but I’d get anon hate. True story.
Uhhhh I’m not too particularly big on Ed/Winry, Asano/Ren, Homura/Madoka (Bite me) or Kazuma/Bishamon, all of which I know are fairly popular. But I wouldn’t say I “don’t get” any of them. I’m just not super big on them for. Differing reasons.
8. Have you received anon hate? What about?
You want the beans about the J.oshne.ku thing? I’ll SPILL THE BEANS about the fucking J.oshn.eku thing.
I’m gonna put this below the cut (Haha. Below the cut. That’s part of the story) because it’s LONG
Back in the day in the TWEWY fandom, I was a part of the RP community. Mostly a great place! But I... Was 14. I’m not exactly going to call myself a saint, ‘cause I was a total passive aggressive brat, but I was just a kid.
Enter Not-Neku-Kin and Not-Joshua-Kin.
As you can imagine, Not-Neku-Kin and Not-Joshua-Kin roleplay Neku and Joshua. They are borderline kindating. Let’s be real here.
For the most part, I get along with these two! I don’t like their ship, and make some admittedly VERY IMMATURE comments about not liking their ship, but remember: I was a literal middle schooler. They were over 17 at this point. They were well aware I was 14.
(*As a note here there were some other borderline ableist comments I made here, but they were never once directed at real people, but rather fictional headcanons. I don’t want to go into explicit detail because this involves extreme trauma for me, but it was about a mental illness I have, and never once left the realm of “Ahaha I’m not really comfortable with that headcanon”)
So they have every right to be annoyed by me, but maybe not to make claims of being “traumatized” by me?
Enter the porn.
This is back in the days of yore and Tumblr not being a functioning website. Tumblr did not have a “below the cut” feature!
Not-Neku-Kin starts roleplaying porn. Fetish porn. (With a fifteen year old character, mind you, but that’s besides the point, uwu) Me and my best friend are deeply uncomfortable with this. Not-Neku-Kin does not put any of this below the cut because “Wah! I’m stuck on mobile!” Despite the fact that they KNEW they had a large amount of minors following them.
This is the part where if they were a mature ass person, they probably would have decided to move their porn to something private like Skype (Once again: This was before Discord. If that puts into perspective how long ago this was), or perhaps passed up roleplaying porn at all until they could properly hide and tag it. Nope! Explicit NSFW on our dashes!
My best friend sent a polite anon something along the lines of “Unfollowing because of the porn. Sorry! ^-^” I don’t remember if it was any more aggressive/passive aggressive than that, because it very well could have been genuinely sort of rude: But remember: Putting uncut porn on the dashboard of a bunch of middle schoolers.
Sometime or another I unfollowed them for a different reason and told them in the public TWEWY roleplay community skype server. They and Not-Joshua-Kin FLIPPED THEIR SHITS. Best friend admitted she sent the anon. They flipped their shits on the both of us and left the server.
We thought that was the last of it.
No, lmao.
Two or three years later, I make a post ON MY MAINBLOG that’s like “Considering coming back to the TWEWY roleplay community. How active is it?”
Not-Joshua-Kin sends me an anon saying something along the lines of “The TWEWY community doesn’t want you”
OOOOKAY, then.
Around this time one of them (I don’t remember who) also got in contact with a friend of mine (Who can back this up, for the record,) and sent him a VERY passive aggressive anon along the lines of “I like your content, but I’m gonna have to unfollow :/ You reblog from an ableist abuser” (REMEMBER. ONE OF THE REASONS THEY FLIPPED OUT ON US US AN ANON ABOUT UNFOLLOWING)
Obviously when said friend asked they specify he was told it was me (And once again I’m deeply uncomfortable with their willingness to namedrop me like this, alongside seemingly stalking my blog). He got in contact with me and I told him the full story. He was like “Oh, okay.” And that was the end of it.
Two more years later. Now I’m a Senior. This drama went down when I was in 8th grade. These people are like 21 now. The TWEWY remix comes out. The fandom is blooming!
Not-Joshua-Kin makes a fandom discord.
Quite frankly I don’t even realize it’s them. I join. Insta-kicked without any information or contact given as to why. I get in contact with them, realize who they are, and we decide to maturely talk about it like adults.
I write an extremely long apology, both detailing how immature my behavior was at the time, and disclosing some of my very personal trauma behind my actions. I also express worries that they’re smearing my name in the fandom by barring me from spaces like that.
They reply and say that A) They would never smear my name in the fandom, and would never spread gossip, even if they don’t like me. B) They’re still not sure if they and Not-Neku-Kin are comfortable inviting me in, but they’ll keep me updated.
Radio silence.
They don’t even have the balls to tell me directly “No, I’m not sure I’m comfortable with that.” They downright block me. Okay! That’s comfortable, considering all I just shared with you!
Annoying, but I’ll survive.
Few months later, I learn from ANOTHER friend they HAVE been gossiping about me. And not “some person.” “Sack.” They’re namedropping me in the TWEWY roleplay community, directly calling me annoying and ableist out of context. This is stuff they’re bringing up completely unprompted, too. So alongside being a liar and a gossip, they’re dragging my name across the mud and effectively exiling me from a fandom because I...
A) Didn’t like a ship
B) Didn’t like their one (1) autistic headcanon
C) Am closely associated with someone who told their S/O to stop putting creepy fetish porn on my dashboard in MIDDLE SCHOOL.
That’s EXTREMELY comfortable considering, once again, I really genuinely opened up to this person about my trauma and was 100% willing to try and make a new start with them. But now for all I know they’re STILL actively gossiping about me and sharing my trauma.
De-lightful!
And THAT’S the story of how I got my first anon hate.
9. Most disliked character(s)? Why?
Kazuma can eat my fucking boots.
Additionally I’m not fond of any of the bad guys in Assclass (In particular Yanagisawa, Takaoka, Gakuho, and Hiromi make me VERY uncomfortable), Homura PMMM (Eat shit bitch), or Lusamine Pokemon (Abusers Die Challenge)
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
I don’t think it’s bad persay but the entire mood of the current arc of Noragami makes me so deeply uncomfortable I’m literally having to take a break from reading it. It’s very well written, but seeing the characters take such steps backwards in their arcs makes me feel a little sick.
As for Assclass I... Don’t think the 2.0 arc is excellent. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Irina and Karasuma’s developments during it, but 2.0 is just suchhhh a bad villain. He’s too OP to the point of bending my suspension of disbelief. It ends up not being fun, and instead just downright FUNNY to read. “How did he do that? Oh my god! DID HE JUST DO SHADOW JUJITSU?” It totally takes you out of it.

How did it go | Orpheus | Chapter 5 | Trial | RE: Ryuunosuke, ATTN: Atsuko, everyone again
Writing down all new evidence and alibis in his notebook, Orpheus opted to remain quiet for the time being - sans when Kimiko came over to check his e-handbook. The exchange was short, but afterwards, the corners of his mouth cracked upwards for a second, before they returned to its original state.
When Ryuunosuke and Sandwich addressed him, the blonde man merely nodded, but ultimately didn’t say anything in return yet. Instead, he paid attention to the trials ongoings--
Which now led them to Sandwich being accused of murder.
Orpheus could barely keep himself from heaving a sigh, but he did allow himself to take his glasses off and clean them a bit. Once that was done, he placed them back on his face, before taking the word once more after Atsuko was done with her part.
“While you are bringing up valid points, Ainara-san, it would be unwise to focus on Yanagisawa-san alone. After all, there are others here who wear red clothing articles as well. We should check everyone who fits the description, before aiming for more specific people of interest.”
Tumblr media
“Speaking of the red cloth, has anyone from group A took a picture of said evidence? Or brought it along with them? If not, then someone who has actually gotten to feel it should check everyone for their red clothes.”
While he was discussing checks, he might as well address Ryuunosuke now - rather belated, but at least it happened, didn’t it?
“In regards to the check you proposed, I see no reason to not go through with it. While Yanagisawa-san did mention that the culprit could have used something to protect their hand from injury - like the burnt red clothing, for example -, it wouldn’t hurt to cover as much ground as we can. On that note--”
With two swift moves, both of his gloves came off his hands. Showing them to the others, they would note that they were completely free of any marks or injuries. Once he deemed that enough time had passed, he put his gloves back on - but not without continuing to talk.
“Also, with the note being handwritten, we might consider a handwriting check as well. Before you say anything, I know that either the note itself has already forged writing on it or whoever would be writing now could simply fake it, but as I said already - no harm to do more checks that could potentionally uncover something than to leave it be, hm?”
Tumblr media
“Which is why I still think that a scent check should be conducted regardless. After all, the culprit could have used perfume or something akin to that to get rid of any damning scent that lingers on their person. If no one else is up for it, I... suppose I can do it.”
While his words say that he looks willing to do the task, his face didn’t quite match it. Instead, he wanted to talk about something else, so he simply went for it!
“... As for the cause of death, I do believe that the fishing line’s incineration was ultimately responsible for Mr. Bruckhard’s death. After all, inhaling too much toxic gas stemming from burnt plastic could be fatal for one’s health - especially for an extended amount of time while you are unconscious.”
It’s theory time!
“Just think about it - a contraption was made to make Mr. Bruckhard trip. While he was taken by surprise, the culprit came behind him with some of the fishing line in hand and strangled him until he was unconscious. As for why he didn’t simply finish the job with that... that is anyone’s guess, really.”
Tumblr media
“Now, with his victim rendered helpless, they dragged him back to the Bodyguard laboratory. They could have done some of the mess prior or after their deed, but nonetheless, they would leave the place after setting the fishing line on fire; leaving Mr. Bruckhard in this airtight space to suffocate to death for... maybe an hour or two? Once they returned, the culprit stabbed the victim then... Though of course, they could have also stabbed him shortly after setting the fishing line on fire, so they wouldn’t need to return to the crime scene altogether... and maybe, they were also hoping to obscure the cause of death with that course of action?”
A shrug.
Tumblr media
“Either way, I do think it is high time to conduct all the checks we have presented thus far - which would be hands, scent, clothes and maybe handwriting. As for writing utensils, I am willing to spare some of my notebook’s papers with that endeavour.”

Sachiko’s Moustache (Part I)
In the morning light, the low, lamenting sound of a cello reberbates.
She listens to the calm melody of Bach’s Cello Suite No. 1 Prelude - as Mrs. Hatano had told her informed her it was called - and yet, Wato cannot understand the finer points of its beautiful sound. It just makes her think it would go perfectly with coffee. For a moment, she stands in front of the closed door, drinking in the music. The last note echoes before fading. And finally silence reigns. Holding a long tray in her hands, she pushes the door - so tall it reaches the ceiling - with her backside and opens it.
She enters the chaotic room and brightly announces, “Breakfast!”
“Don’t want any,” is the immediate reply.
Still holding her cello, Sherlock glances at Wato, at the tray in her hands and the food on it - the steaming white rice, golden dashimaki tamago, daikon-flavored miso soup, and crispy grilled fish - she says this. Wato stands frozen in place. As she watches Sherlock gently put the instrument away, she smiles sweetly.
“You don’t want it?”
“Just coffee is fine. Make some coffee.”
“It’s supposed to be a sort of thank you for letting me stay here.”
A sort of thank you to the person who had offered a has-been doctor with no job or house a place to sleep. Even if that person was an exceptional weirdo. She had cooked the rice in an earthenware pot. She had woken up at 5 am to buy the fish at the marketplace. With Hatano’s help (more like Hatano making everything but the dashimaki tamago), she had cooked this breakfast with love.
“You still don’t want it?”
“Read this.”
Wato shrinks away from the sheet of paper suddenly thrust under her nose. She puts the tray on a low table nearby and snatches the note fluttering in front of her face.
“What? Rules for cohabitation. ‘Don’t make breakfast without being requested to do so.’ ‘Coffee is made with water  heated to 82 degrees.’ ‘Clean up. Don’t tidy up.’ ‘Don’t speak or make noise above 50 decibels.’...Hey, hey, hey, how many of these are there? They’re too many!”
“If you don’t like it, get out.”
She points outside through the window with an empty coffee mug in her hand. No, wait a minute. Is she telling me to live the rest of my life quieter than an air conditioning unit? And does she want me to leave through the window? Wato stares at Sherlock, who still stands with her arm outstretched, for a moment before sighing.
“Hey, can’t we try having a conversation like normal peo-”
“Sherlock? Sherlock, I’m coming in.”
As soon as she says this, Mrs. Hatano, the landlord of 221B, peeks inside from behind the door. She smiles warmly at Wato before quickly turning to Sherlock.
“So, remember the friend I mentioned yesterday? She’s already arrived. I’m sorry, but could she come in once you’re finished with breakfast?”
“Show her in right now.”
An immediate response.
Good grief. Time to eat two portions of breakfast, Wato laments and moves the tray from the table to the sideboard.
Hatano tilts her head to the side and replies, “Oh, really? Give me a second, then. She’s in the corridor right now, so let me tell her to come in.” Hatano raises her voice. “Mrs. Maibara! Mrs. Maibara!”
After a short moment, an old lady with a cane walks in. Maibara looks around the room before facing Sherlock and smiling at her.
“Are you Sherlock?”
Judging by her clothing, demeanor, and relaxed way of speaking, it seems like Maibara was quite wealthy. Seemingly picking up on more details about her than Wato, Sherlock smiles boldly at her. She motions her to a chair and gives her a brief reply.
“Correct.”
“You’re even prettier than what I was told.”
“Her personality is like the devil, though,” Wato mutters quietly. She is unable to dodge an elbow aimed at her and staggers in place. Acting as if nothing happened, Sherlock perches herself on a chair and listens to Maibara.
“Do you know an artist by the name of Saneatsu Kishida?”
“He was a western-style artist who was active from the Taishou era to the beginnings of the Shouwa era.”
“As expected of you,” replies Maibara, and Wato also feels impressed. This Sherlock...she doesn’t know things that everyone else knows, but she knows things other don’t to the point that Wato wonders how far her knowledge extends. Even if her attitude when sharing her knowledge could be a little infuriating. Maibara nods suddenly and places a photograph on the table. It shows a painting of a woman wearing a kimono.
“This is Sachiko, painted by Saneatsu in his final years. My husband gave it to me as an anniversary gift for our silver wedding 20 years ago.”
“Mrs. Maibara’s husband was an antiques dealer and found it by chance while cleaning out a customer’s warehouse,” Hatano cuts in.
“What a lovely anniversary gift!” Wato exclaims without thinking.
“Ha! Lovely indeed. This painting was the first and last gift I got from my husband. Probably because it was so unlike him, he passed away not long after that.”
Maibara laughs hollowly, but there is a hint of courage in her voice. Sherlock nods calmly, asking her to continue.
“I’ve treasured it for 20 years. I’ve received requests from many exhibitions, but I turned them all down. But the curator from The Gables Museum of Art begged me to let him borrow it to be the centerpiece of a temporary exhibition.”
“So you loaned it for the very first time.”
“Yes. They placed it in the most prominent spot of the exhibition room. But...but - two days ago, there was an incident.”
Maibara falls silent. Her body begins to quiver, and even Wato leans in.
“What happened?”
A man came just before closing time and he - he drew a moustache. A moustache, on Sachiko. With a permanent marker.”
“Moustache?” Wato and Hatano exclaim at the same time. Ignoring their shocked voices, Sherlock takes over the conversation.
“Where were the employees when this was happening?”
“They were apparently busy dealing with a phone call, so there weren’t many people around. Honestly!”
“How did this man run away after defacing Sachiko?”
“Well -” Maibara stumbles over her words. Sherlock crosses her legs and urges her on gently.
“Tell me.”
“He was run over. When he ran outside, a car hit him.”
“Run over?!” Wato exclaims without thinking. Sherlock scowls angrily at her, so she lowers her voice. “Did he die?”
“He was taken to a police hospital, and he is unconscious  and in a serious condition.”
“Who in the world was this culprit?”
“They don’t even know his name. He didn’t have a license, wallet or phone on him. Just why would he deface that painting? I thought perhaps you would be able to solve this mystery.”
Three pairs of eyes fall on Sherlock. The woman in question just joins her fingers together and looks into the distance. Finally she opens her mouth and declares plainly, “There is one thing I can say for certain: this man was only the perpetrator. There is a true culprit behind this.”
“Huh?”
Wato leans in. Sherlock turns to the open-mouthed Maibara and continues.
“Picasso, Delacroix, Mark Rothko. Their historic paintings have also been vandalized in the past. Most of them by self-proclaimed artists trying to make themselves known. They feel like, by leaving their signature or a message on a masterpiece, they can make a mark in the history of art and be remembered. But the man who drew a moustache on Sachiko didn’t have a license or a cell phone, probably to hide his identity if he were to be caught, so he is not a person trying to make himself known. Therefore, there is someone else who ordered him to do this.”
“Oh…” Maibara lets out a long sigh.
Wato grasps the back of Sherlock’s chair, peers down at her face, and asks, “Then...who is behind all of this?”
In spite of it being a weekday, the entrance of the Gables Museum of Art is considerably crowded.
Most of the people had surely come to see the temporary exhibition. Many of them look dismayed at the posters hung by the ticket counters that read “Saneatsu Kishida’s Sachiko has been momentarily removed.” Shooting that entrance a sidelong glance, Wato, Sherlock, and Maibara wielding her cane follow a museum employee who shows them to the back of the building. He guides them through a staff entrance and down into the building’s basement. Inside, and standing in front of a storeroom, a man in his 50s bows his head deeply when he sees Maibara.
“Mrs. Maibara! How could you forgive me? You will of course be compensated for everything that happened.”
The name tag hanging from the man’s neck on a lanyard reads, “Gables Museum of Art Curator - Satoru Yamashita.” He does not raise his head.
“I don’t care about a compensation.” Maibara replies calmly, “I just want to understand what happened. Ah, and I asked a detective to solve this mystery. I hope that’s alright.”
Maibara’s mouth curls into a smile as she glances at Sherlock and Wato. Yamashita looks puzzled, but still nods politely at them before opening the gallery’s heavy door.
“This way, if you please.”
The room is jam-packed with packaged pieces of art and shelves and feels quite cramped. Abandoning Wato to gingerly maneuver the room to avoid knocking over paintings or picture frames, Sherlock goes directly to the workbench at the center of the room. She sees the object placed on the table - and what is drawn on it - and laughs happily.
It is the painting on the photograph they had seen, Sachiko. Indeed, on the woman in the painting’s face, just as Wato had imagined - no, even more impressive than what she had imagined - a handlebar moustache has been drawn.
“What do you think?”
“This is a magnificent moustache,” Sherlock replies to Maibara and continues without taking her eyes off the painting. “Did anything unusual happen recently?”
“I don’t know if I could consider it unusual, but three days ago, this man came to visit me.”
Maibara shows them a business card. Sherlock looks at the name and hands it to Wato as if saying look at this. Wato reads the words out loud.
“Gallery Gelder. Keisuke Yanagisawa?”
“He said he wanted to buy this painting.”
“Sachiko?”
“That he would pay any price I asked of him.”
“Any price?! So, no matter how much it cost?”
Wato’s eyes widen. Maibara shakes her head calmly and continues.
“Of course, I turned him down. I want this painting to stay with me.”
“And the very next day someone drew a moustache on it...”
As if to interrupt Sherlock, the sound of the door opening rings out. A man peers in, and seeing there is already someone in the room, draws his body back, disconcerted.
“Ah, forgive me. I’ll come back later...”
“Ah, Mr. Kuwabata, good timing. Please, come in. This is the owner, Mrs. Maibara,” Yamashita calls out to the man and beckons him inside. The man he had called Kuwabata walks in bowing his head and stops near the workbench.
“Mrs. Maibara, this is the art restorer, Mr. Kuwabata.”
Finishing his introduction, Kuwabata bows his head once again. He looks somehow sickly, or maybe introspective, or perhaps has the air of an artist, thinks Wato absentmindedly. Sherlock observes the man in silence.
“This is a very important painting to me. Please, restore it to how it was before.”
“He is very skillful, so there is no need to worry.”
At this words of high expectations meant to allay Maibara apprehension, Kuwabata blushes slightly.
Glancing at Sachiko, he says reassuringly, “I’ll do my very best.”
A transportation employee who had followed him inside begins carefully packaging Sachiko following Kuwabata’s instructions. Unable to move in the even more cramped space, Wato blankly observes the brisk activity taking place. Sherlock inconspicuously takes a sheet of paper and puts it in her pocket, and Wato pretends not to notice.
“...His condition hasn’t changed since yesterday.”
The head surgeon looks at the prone man through the glass and shakes his head slightly.
Sherlock and Wato had walked to the police hospital were their perpetrator now was - name and identity unknown. They are in the process of conducting an “interview” with the Moustache Man. Naturally unable to enter the ICU, they can only observe him from ways away. Thanks to the gauze covering most of his face they can hardly even identify his features. Only a dark red ear conspicuously stands out against the white gauze.
“...Why would he draw a moustache? And was Sachiko vandalized by coincidence or was it targeted on purpose..?” Wato quietly murmurs.
Sherlock turns her gaze at the surgeon and asks, “I was told he had no personal belongings on him, but what about accessories?”
“Accessories? No, I didn’t hear anything in particular,” The surgeon replies, bemused. Other than that, Sherlock makes no other questions, and only continues staring at the unconscious man.
After the pair leave the police hospital on foot they walk into a Japanese sweets shop. What we’re looking for we’ll find on foot. Walking around, we’ll get hungry. If you get hungry, you must eat sweets. A new secret life lesson for Wato. From next to her, a spoon creeps towards her elegant bowl and in a flash, scoops out a large shiratama from it.
“Hey!”
Sherlock nonchalantly puts the spoon in her mouth and chews absentmindedly. Wato looks at the anko remains sadly, before thinking twice about what just happened and glaring at Sherlock, who sits by her side. The table in front of her is so full of freshly made Japanese sweets there is no space for any more.
“Hey! You ordered this much, so eat your own food!”
“5-3.”
“Huh?” Wato says puzzled at hearing the abruptly uttered numbers.
Sherlock points at the back of her hand and continues, “The nurse wiped it off, so it was very faint, but 5-3 was most definitely written on the back of that man’s hand. Exhibition room 5, work 3, which corresponds to Sachiko.”
Sherlock pulls a sheet of paper seemingly out of nowhere and places it among her sweets. It is a list of the works on exhibition. It looks like the one she stole from the museum’s storage room.
“The perpetrator wrote that on his hand so he wouldn’t mistake his mark for another painting. In other words, defacing any painting would not do. The mastermind purposefully targeted Sachiko.”
“So it was on purpose...I didn’t notice the numbers on his hand at all.”
Wato hums, impressed. Sherlock is definitely clever. Her ability to find a clue from such a trivial detail is certainly something worthy of respect.
“That is because you see, but you do not observe,” she replies, laughing scornfully. Wato takes it back. Her observation skills are outstanding, but her personality is the worst. Keeping her bowl away from the hands now encroaching her anmitsu, Wato scowls.
“That art dealer who wanted to buy the painting…” Sherlock continues. “Let’s go talk to Yanagizawa. He might know something.”
“...Sorry. I’m going to counseling today. It’s recommended by the medical corps.”
Wato looks away. Of course she wants to tag along, and she’s very interested in the case at hand, but she has to be responsible. She understands that the most important thing is that she stays healthy.
“Counseling is a waste of time. It’s not as if a counselor will give you a solution to your problems,” Sherlock declares, and pulls Wato’s anmitsu to herself without any hesitation. She fishes a chestnut out of the syrup and puts it into her mouth without missing a beat.
“Ah! Wait a - ! Not that, not that, wait - the chestnut...I wanted to eat that...”
Sherlock’s face breaks into a smile as she savors the chestnut. This devil. Food related grudges run deep, you know, Wato thinks, looking sadly at her bowl, where there is only kanten left.
“A suicide caused by his debts, huh.”
A corner in Ginza. Two police officers, Reimon and Shibata, exit the building and look back at Gallery Gelder’s polished display window. All their customers are well-dressed. So this is a place where people and money gather, huh, thinks Shibata, shrugging his shoulders. He turns to his superior and continues.
“The art market price was dropping rapidly. And the owner also had debts. This was a suicide.”
“...Let’s go back then.”
With that vague reply, he turns his eyes straight ahead. He sees a shape walking in a straight line towards them and calls out, voice hoarse, “Sherlock! Why are you here?”
“I could ask you the same thing. What happened?”
The two police officers look at each other. Before Shibata can say the insult that is on the tip of his tongue, Reimon intervenes nimbly and takes over the conversation with his usual tone of voice.
“Yesterday night, the body of this place’s owner was found. He fell to his death.”
“Keisuke Yanagisawa?”
“Why the hell do you know that?” Shibata exclaims.
Sherlock shrugs and gives him an impish smile.
The white building is oppressively tall compared to its surroundings, and beyond the glass entrance there is a door that closes automatically. There are multiple luxury cars parked there, but no people are visible. Sherlock stands on a staircase in front of the entrance and looks up at the towering building. Windows line the building’s walls. There doesn’t appear to be any balconies on this side. She glances at the railing on the roof.
“Yanagisawa’s body was here. I’ll send you the pictures.”
From a few steps away, Reimon taps at his smartphone. Sherlock looks at the pictures as soon as she receives them. A dead body lying facedown. Parts of his back are stained white and his head is split open.
Reimon starts pacing aimlessly and calls out to his subordinate, “Shibata, continue.”
“...Last night at 22:32 a man talking on the phone by the building’s entrance a man sees him fall from above without warning. After reporting the incident, the man stayed close to the entrance and says that during that time he didn’t see anyone come in or out of the building. After the police arrived, they inspected every single room of the building from the parking lot to the roof, but didn’t find any suspicious individuals.”
Sherlock takes a traffic cone from the parking lot and drops it heavily where the body had been. Shibata, looking as if he wanted to kick it away, sighs,“Are you even listening to me?”
After finishing their examination of the entrance, the three of them walk into the building and  enter Yanagisawa’s office. Various works of art that seemed to have been collected through the years clutter the room as decoration in a fashion that can only be described as tasteless. There is a big window on the wall corresponding to the entrance of the building and bright light from the outside streams in through it.
“The room was locked; key left on top of the desk. The window was wide open. There were traces of sleeping pills on the shelf, which were also found in the body,” Reimon says to Sherlock, who is walking around the room, while pointing at the window.
“According to the gallery attendant, Yanagisawa was dealing with quite a considerable debt,” Shibata continues. “His mental state was probably unstable enough that he had to take sleeping pills regularly, and ultimately he decided to jump to his death. Therefore, this is not a job for the First Investigative Division.”
And thus finishing his explanation, Shibata’s chest swells proudly. He looks at Sherlock as if saying there you go, but the consulting detective continues looking around without even blinking and pays him no mind. Shibata puffs out his cheeks and looks at his superior.
Reimon chuckles cheerfully and says, “Sherlock? What is it?”
Sherlock grabs the keychain from the desk and stares at it intently. With an expression that says why would you be interested in that thing, Shibata grumbles, “That’s the key to this room, okay? Put it back.”
“No, it isn’t. The door has a PR Cylinder type lock, but this key is for a U9 Cylinder type. They look alike, but they’re not the same. Come on, try fitting the key in the lock.”
Sherlock carelessly tosses the keys to Shibata and cocks an eyebrow. Shibata looks as if he wants to retort something, but instead clenches his jaw and exits the room briskly. The door clicks close. The doorknob clatters noisily for a while. Finally, Shibata walks back in with a grimace and says dejectedly, “It doesn’t fit.”
Sherlock laughs triumphantly. Reimon stares at his subordinate gnash his teeth and cuts in, “The culprit left a fake key inside the room and used the real one to close the door behind him. To make it look like a locked room, seems like. If that’s right, then it is possible than the culprit made Yanagisawa take the sleeping pills.”
Sherlock hums and turns her eyes back to the desk. On top of the tidy desk there is a only book titled Stradivari: Life and Works that someone has begun to leaf through.
The building’s roof. Braced against the strong winds, Sherlock leans over the railing and peers straight down. Shibata grasps the hem of her coat and exclaims as if in reprimand, “Hey! You’re gonna fall!”
“Haha! Yanagisawa’s office is right below us. And beyond that, the spot where he fell.”
“We get it, get down from there already...hey.”
Shibata speaks as if to coax a child back to safety, but Sherlock ignores him. She jumps off the railing and touches the ground with her hand. She stretches her arm to the scaffolding beyond the railing and rubs at it with a finger. A sort of white coloring sticks to her fingertip.
Reimon looks at her absentmindedly and suddenly says, “Indeed, it is possible that he was pushed from up here.”
Sherlock does not reply and once again looks intently at the ground. An amber glint catches her eye and she finds a tiny fragment of a rock, which she picks up with a pair of tweezers. She puts it carefully into a container.
Shibata exchanges glances with Reimon, spreads his hands and exclaims, “But if he has truly pushed to his death, it could’ve been done from his office. Why would someone specifically choose to do so from here? And besides, at the time of the incident, there was no one on the roof.”
Sherlock looks at the container in her hands. Turning her eyes back to the space beyond the railings once again, she addresses Reimon.
“Inspector. There’s something I want to ask of you.”
“Whatever you need.”
“Have you heard about the case of the painting defaced by a moustache?”
“The culprit was hospitalized after being in an accident.”
“I saw him at the hospital, and he had a pierced earlobe, torn. But there were no earrings among his belongings. It is possible it fell off from the impact of the crash. I want you to find it.”
“What the hell?! Why would the Inspector -”
Sherlock mercilessly covers Shibata’s mouth and says sharply, “The two cases are connected - Yanagisawa’s death and the defaced painting.”
“Got it. Shibata. Go to check out the scene immediately. I’ll ask for reinforcements.”
“Eh? Me...”
Shibata tilts his head in confusion and points at himself. Why are you saying this to me, his face says.
“What about you, Inspector?”
“I have a physical examination. You can’t do your job properly if you’re not healthy. You should also go to checkups regularly, too.”
“Y-yes, sir.”
Reimon turns his back to his dumbfounded subordinate. He takes a deep breath and says.
“Well then, Sherlock. Is there anything else we can do?”
“Tell me everything you know about what Yanagisawa was currently working on.”
“Very well. Shibata, look into that.”
Sherlock walks away and Reimon follows her soon after. Shibata is left standing there slack-jawed, watching them leave.
A room with an off white color scheme. Soft illumination. Swaying birds as the decoration’s motif. Sitting in a chair that seems to envelop her body, Wato is filled by a curious feeling. Mariko Irikawa smiles calmly.  Gently and politely, she says, “Are you sleeping properly?”
“Yes. When I had just gotten back I had a hard time falling asleep and woke up in the middle of the night, too, but lately I’ve been sleeping a lot better.”
As a doctor, and even just as a person, Wato is impressed by the counselor Irikawa’s capabilities. Her attentive questions. Her demeanor that does not betray the hard edge of counseling. As she answers her questions promptly, Wato begins to think it is okay to be completely honest with her. Trusting her is the first step to receive proper treatment.
“That’s good. After being in a conflict zone, many people have trouble sleeping. Ms. Tachibana, now that you’re back in Japan, it’ll be easier for you to relax.”
“Relax...Well, because of my living environment stress keeps piling up, though.”
“Stress?”
“Yes. Because of a situation I ended up living with this person, and it’s been so troublesome...well, it’s been quite lively, so I guess it’s okay. But I don’t know if I should call it lively or just plain hectic? In any case, it hasn’t been boring.”
“That’s wonderful. That sounds like quite an interesting roommate, I’d say.”
Irikawa’s eyes crinkle at Wato’s aimless explanations. Her smile is as lovely as a flower. Even though she had said she just turned 50, she has a certain air of youthfulness that make her age seem much lower that that. Wato laughs with her.
Irikawa nods her head in agreement and says with a flowing voice, “Is talking about your worries -  is showing what you hold inside to someone else embarrassing?
“Yes, it is.”
“But I won’t repeat what you say here to anyone, so it’s okay to just let yourself say things.”
“...Right.”
“For example, ‘this and that happened yesterday’. Or ‘I’m thinking about this right now.’ Don’t think about counseling as something too serious. Please, make use of it without any hesitation. Ms. Tachibana, hm? You’re a very good speaker.”
Irikawa laughs, so Wato ends up laughing too. Having someone listen to anything I feel like saying is important, Wato thinks, and feels as if something inside her heart melts at that thought.
Wato steps out into the sunset streets and pulls out her phone from her bag. When she turns it back on, she notices she has quite a number of notifications. Sherlock. Sherlock. Sherlock. Sherlock...Right...the only person who would contact me right now is you, Wato mutters to herself as she moves to the side of the road and calls her back. She picks up immediately and without wasting a single second, she says, “Keisuke Yanagisawa is dead.”
“What?!” Wato exclaims. Another dead body. Was there a chance that Sherlock attracted dead bodies?
“It was a murder arranged to look like a suicide. Yanagisawa never had any interest in the world of art or its works to begin with. More than an arts dealer, he was a broker. If he can resale an artwork and gain any profit from it, he’ll try to acquire it by any means possible. And using any means possible would mean...?”
“...What?”
Wato frowns. Through the phone’s speakers, she hears Sherlock’s merciless voice, “Many people would end up holding grudges against him. It’s elementary.”
“That’s...”
“Furthermore, someone had Yanagisawa go to Mrs. Maibara and buy Sachiko from her.”
“Someone? Who?”
“The CEO of Takakura Resort Development, Hirotsugu Takakura. The locals organized a lawsuit against his aggressive developments - and I got an appointment with him. Come at once.”
“...I heard from the police. About Mr. Yanagisawa. Suicide...I can’t believe it.”
After being summoned by Sherlock, Wato had hurried to Shinagawa and met with her in front of Takakura Resort Development’s building. She said she had gotten an appointment, but how she had done so was a mystery to Wato. They’d quickly slipped into the unwelcoming building and stopped in front of the elevator, and then were guided to the CEO’s office, which was so closely guarded that it seemed that if someone tried to break in, they’d shoot them on sight. And just now that they stand in front of Hirotsugu Takakura, they are informed that his agenda for appointments is completely booked for the next five years. As always, Sherlock’s relationships - or connections, more like - are shrouded in mystery. Takakura has a refined air around him, but there is a ruthless glint in his eyes. Even so, the furnishing in his office is quite subdued, in a way that feels fastidiously planned and arranged.
“Why did you want to purchase Sachiko?” Sherlock asks before Takakura even stands up. His expression looks slightly strained.
“What do you mean?”
“Did you want it as an investment?”
“I’m not like the people who participate in the money game dealing with paintings. The most important thing to me is if I love a painting or not. When I saw Sachiko in the flesh for the first time at the Gables Museum of Art, my whole body trembled.”
“And so, you had Yanagisawa find out who the owner was and pay Mrs. Maibara a visit.”
“You are well informed. Of course, she turned him down. There was nothing I could do.”
“That’s unexpected.”
“What is?”
“You are a distinguished art collector in Japan. Is it truly okay to give up so easily?”
“Art should be owned by someone who loves it. It was just that Mrs. Maibara’s love for Sachiko surpassed my own.”
“...This painting is also very pretty! I can see its owner’s love for it,” Wato interjects, standing in front of a painting sitting on top of the mantelpiece. It had drawn her eyes from the moment they had stepped into the room. A dancer dressed in white gazes charmingly at her spectators. Takakura’s hard face melts and he approaches Wato and the painting.
“Thank you very much. It was made in the 18th century, more than 300 years ago.”
“300 years ago! How much was it, by the way?”
“That, is a secret.”
Takakura puts his finger against his lips and Wato pulls away from him.
Sherlock relentlessly cuts in, “Where were you on the night of Yanagisawa’s death?”
“At the company’s anniversary party. The 200 employees who attended can vouch for me.”
Takakura falls silent and turns their back to them as if to say, it’s about time for you to leave. Sherlock makes no other questions. She stands next to Wato and looks intently at the dancing girl in the painting.
Notes
‘the steaming white rice, golden dashimaki tamago, daikon-flavored miso soup, and crispy grilled fish’: A traditional Japanese breakfast. The dashimaki tamago that Wato lovingly made without Mrs. Hatano’s help is very similar to tamagoyaki (rolled omelette). Daikon is a radish native to Southeast Asia.
Taishou era and Shouwa era: Japan divides its years into eras, post-1889, it only changes when a new emperor takes the throne (more on that and pre-1889 here). The Taishou era was from 1912-1926 and the Shouwa era from 1926-1989. We are currently in the Heisei era.
Gables Museum of Art: The museum is named after a Sherlock Holmes short story, The Adventure of the Three Gables.
Gallery Gelder: Another nod to a short story - The Adventure of the Six Napoleons.
Anmitsu, shiratama, anko, and kanten: I suffered a lot because for the life of me I could not figure out what was what until I found this image and its explanations.

Yukimura Aguri’s Graduation Album Character Profile
She didn’t get much screen-time, but she managed to cement a spot as one of my favorites in the series, so I’m happy to finally post her profile! A good half of this page is about her clothes, though…
Kunugigaoka Middle School Class 3-E’s Former Homeroom Teacher – Yukimura Aguri
Section 1: The novice teacher who overflows with enthusiasm
3-E’s former homeroom teacher. Brimming with enthusiasm toward education, she introduced each of her lessons with zeal in order to restore the self-confidence of her students, who were branded as dropouts. She would thoughtfully interact with her students, connecting with them as fellow human beings. That attitude she held as a teacher was passed along to Korosensei.
Section 2: Photo captions
She was subjected to high-handed treatment from her fiancé, Yanagisawa. He had also pressured her to quit teaching.
She was a company president’s daughter and she had excellent grades. However, she never put on any airs.
Just before her death, she entrusted the futures of Class E’s students to the God of Death. She was an educator up to the very end.
Section 3: Yukimura Aguri’s Hidden Side!!
With educational zeal, vitality, and more, her abilities as an educator were enough to evoke great expectations from even the Chairman.
Section 4: Fashion Brand “Rotten Manten” Collection
Its popularity is on the rise with a sect of enthusiasts! Here’s an introduction to this up-and-coming brand!!
¥4,800 – The v-neck creates an average ambience of prettiness  [TN: The word printed on the shirt, 平均, means “average”]
¥4,800 – The figure of this mysterious creature makes you even cuter!
¥7,800 – A new arrival in our feminine line of items!
¥3,500 -  This ogre tube top is a sexy style for Setsubun!*
¥5,800 – A striped item everyone wants every year! [TN: The word printed on her shirt, 満員御礼, means “Thanks for the full house”. Sumo tournaments, concerts, and other entertainment hubs are known to fly banners with this phrase when their seats are all filled.]
¥4,800 – This eight-tenths design emphasizes self-control!  [TN: The word printed on her shirt, 八分目, means “eight-tenths”]
Other Notes:
*Setsubun marks the last day of winter in the traditional Japanese calendar (usually February 3 or 4), and a big part of that is the mamemaki, a bean scattering ceremony where you throw beans either outside or at a family member wearing an ogre mask. I wonder if it was Setsubun the day she showed Korosensei her tank top?
I never understood the point of that eight-tenths shirt, but based on the blurb, I guess it’s supposed to encourage you against overeating. Why eat 8/10ths when you can eat 10/10ths, though :D
My favorite of Aguri’s shirts is the “mysterious creature” because it looks like Sudowoodo
