Fuck it. Some of my favourite Astérix trivia.
While it's typically associated with childhood today, Astérix was actually created because Goscinny and Uderzo wanted there to be a comedy BD series that wasn't exclusively for children. Jokes from it, while normal now, were considered pretentious at the time. x
Goscinny was a initially hesitant about including the "magic potion" in the story at all, fearing it would make all problems immediately solveable. x
Related: In the days when Astérix books were released half-and-half in Pilote, a magazine, they revealed the first half of The Big Fight - an album in which Panoramix (Getafix) is hit on the head with a menhir and cannot make the potion. Readers were so concerned that Goscinny and Uderzo received "an avalanche of alarmed letters". x
Uderzo wanted Astérix to be a tall, relatively muscular type who resembled Vergincétorix x, but Goscinny insisted he had to be the antithesis of what how a hero normally looks, to make it funnier. In return, Uderzo made Obélix tall and fat despite Goscinny not being crazy about the idea. x
Dogmatix's name, Idéfix, was a fan submission. x
Astérix and Obélix were put on trial by law students at Sciences Po, accused of rebellion against the state. They were acquitted. x
Obélix was made to fall in love with Falbala in Astérix the Legionary so it would not seem that they were glorifying war. x

It's been 20 years coming but I FINALLY GOT AN AUTISM DIAGNOSIS!!!!! Y'all I'm so excited I could throw a PARTY!!! I finally have the truth and the proof to back it up next time I have to deal with some idiot that thinks I'm normal just because I don't act like a stereotypical autistic kid!!!!!
