Admit it, there is a very real and somewhat hidden part of you that wants to do what all of your favorite Instagram and Tiktok accounts you follow do...Find JUST the right spot in a well traveled city park or a small sidewalk table on a quaint little main street in the nearest bohemian type town, setup a tiny portable typewriter and just start writing. Maybe folks stop and ask questions, maybe they commission some words, or maybe you just get to enjoy the creative process set against a beautiful and interesting backdrop that can provide as much peace and solitude as it can opportunity for meaningful social interaction. But alas, the dream is just that...absent a fantastic ultra portable writing machine that's as clean and well kept as it is lightweight and reliable you feel resigned to watching the creative world through a handheld window.
But then you remember about another account that you follow, and you chance a look at their website to find something new and there is it! A nearly new-in-box, freshly serviced robins egg blue 1983 Brother Charger Ultra Portable Typewriter....
Want more details? You gotta check out the listing on my website or Etsy shop (links in bio)....Your friendly neighborhood companion in revolution,

Bonus Day
Finally, finally, finally the sun came out!
I think we were all thrilled to be at practice without being cold, wet, or both. The Head Coach gave the team a quick talk about the upcoming end of the regular season, Coach T got the music on over the loudspeakers, and we all got to work.
The sprinters took a couple block starts for practice, and then they did timed 30m dashes out of the blocks- three each- and that was that. They either stretched and went home or, if they’re multi-event athletes, went to train a bit more on their jumps or throws. They were cheering on the distance runners, who were doing 200m repeats, as well, and it’s good to see that team camaraderie.
A few members of the local police force- and The Police Chief- showed up because they’re sending two guys to the academy and they need to be able to run a mile and a half in a certain amount of time. One of the officers who was timing is a former student, so it was fun to chat with him for a bit, and with the chief, too. He and I might not see eye to eye on everything (ie- ALICE training), but he’s a good man.
Even though it’s spring break, I’m doing some professional development- the WriteNow Conference- so I checked my school email early this afternoon to double-check the details, and found two overdue book papers (I graded one, sent the other back for lacking citations) and an email The Principal had sent to notify us that one of our custodians had passed away. He was assigned to my floor for years, and used to chat with me if I was grading or something when he came in to clean my classroom. He wasn’t in good health, so it’s not a total surprise, but it still sucks. I’m still processing it, really.
I did eventually read the email I’d intended to read, and checked the time for part one of WriteNow: a two-hour writing workshop with Tom Romano. I just got home from that, and my brain is still buzzing. I mean, I was sitting in a room with fellow teachers from all over New England, and Tom was giving us prompts, and we were writing and sharing... It was so awesome. I loved it. Tomorrow’s the actual conference, so expect more writing (and tweeting, if you’re one of my Twitter followers) then!

Ahoy authors, PulpCult welcomes you to take part in a grand literary experiment with SUPERSTORIES – our upcoming anthology of Superpowered stories! (Expected release: March/April 2023). The final date for submission is February 05, 2023. Superheroes have almost exclusively been the staple of comic books and motion pictures. Can a superhero solely exist in the dimension of the written word too? Why not? We invite authors to roll up your sleeves and create a brand new superhero and craft a superstory around them! Your superhero could be a manipulator of sound waves, gravity, matter itself or even time. Maybe they have the power to interact with plants, animals or the human memories that lay in our deep subsconscious. Perhaps your superhero can shapeshift at will, or possess the power to create personal dimensions where they can hide away anything from a love letter to a supervillain. Your plot may be a classic origin story with or without the tragic death of a close one. It could showcase the return of an aged superhero and their final bow during an invasion of the undead! Maybe your superhero saves the city from a natural disaster, or a man-made one, or something nefariously plotted by a scheming supervillain in a nail biting thriller. Perhaps your hero teams up with a gang of fellow superhumans to combat an intergalactic threat in a hardcore sci fi adventure! Check out the complete set of submission guidelines at: https://culturecult.co.in/pulpcult-submissions/ . . . . #scifi #CallforSubmissions #SubmissionCalls #anthologysubmissions #callforsubmission #authorsupportingauthors #authorscommunity #authorssupportingauthors #writersofinstagram #writerscommunity #writersnetwork #writingcommunity #writingprompts #writinginspiration #writingtip #writenow #culturecult #stanlee #superhero #superheroes #superpowers #neilgaiman #marvel #dccomics #marvelcomics https://www.instagram.com/p/Cni8i2bJ4sG/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Meet the cast!
We were so lucky to add more VA's to our cast than ever before for our upcoming season 2! It was a real honour to get these marvellous voice-actors in to do justice to some of our most challenging scripts to date. You'll hear them alongside the core cast of voices in season 2 of Folxlore, launching on March 5th 2023!
Want to meet them?! 🥳👀

We are also joined by Katalina Watt! Katalina’s writing was Longlisted for Penguin WriteNow 2020 and is represented by Underline Literary. They received a 2021 Ladies of Horror Fiction Writers Grant and were 2022 Ignyte award-winning founding Audio Director for speculative magazine khōréō. We were so happy to recruit Katalina for a very specific role that I (Bibi) wrote. Katalina has the honour of being the only voice on Folxlore that only voices one character! (And you'll find out why in season 2 👀)

Also joining us is Michelle Kelly! Michelle Kelly is an actor and voice actor based in Yorkshire. You can hear her as Niyathi in The Secret of St Kilda @thekilda and Charlotte in @TwoFlatEarthers. Leaving this here because someone might be interested! I'll copy paste what it's about:
WriteNow is Penguin's award-winning programme designed to give writers from under-represented backgrounds in publishing the tools, information, and access needed to navigate the industry and launch their career as a successful author.
This year we are looking exclusively for books that fall within the science fiction, fantasy, and horror genres.
The application window will open on Wednesday 24 April and run until Sunday 16 June 2024.
We're looking for books for children and adults (specifically middle grade fiction, YA fiction, and adult fiction).
All info on the link above. The writers have to be residents of the UK and Ireland, among other requisites.
