I was in Indiana and they opened a tourist attraction called “The Washington Monument but better” which was just a replica of the Washington monument inside a water vortex.

"Impeach," "Kill Nixon," view from the Washington Monument, 1974.
For those of us old enough to remember, the mood 50 years ago in the winter of 1974 was eerily similar to that in winter 2024. In 1974 the White House was occupied by the morally defective and criminally complicit Richard Milhouse (tricky dIcky) Nixon. The Watergate investigations were in progress. There was serious fear for the future of the nation as a democracy, there was anger and revulsion throughout the land, and more than a few were lobbying Congress for tricky dicky's impeachment and removal from office. Many of us worried that tricky dicky would stage a coup d'etat and claim permanent power.
For all his innumerable faults, however, tricky dicky was not a nut job nor was he senile. And in August he resigned the presidency allowing American democracy, as flawed as it is, to continue for another half century.
