Pairing: Wally Darling x Male Reader

Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5 and Part 6

Summary: You are an adult, you even have a boyfriend but your life isn’t rainbows and sunshine. You have always watched the animated cartoon Welcome Home and a connection with its main character was established since you were little but what will he do when he sees the truth within your walls?

Illustrated Show Au and the warnings are in the tags but just in case: tw of abuse, injuries, near death mention and angst. M/n stands for male name and I'm sorry for all the people named Josh!

Wally has always being your best friend since you were a kid, M/n admit that it wasn't normal for the cartoon character to respond normally whenever he talked with him but it made him feel comforted which is why he still watches the cartoon to this day even though he is an adult. He even is married but it wasn't the healthiest marriage.

Josh was the man M/n married, he was a sweetheart, an artist. Very similar to Wally when it came to traits and personality but when he moved in everything changed but alas M/n turned a blind eye and would simply watch Welcome Home and talk with his best friend.

Another argument and screaming could be heard outside of the house. M/n could feel tears stinging in his eyes and he was starting to have a headache from how hard his jaw was clenched, he could actually feel some bile in the back of his throat. Through the argument at some point the Tv was turned on but it was muted and right there Welcome Home started and their sat Wally with a huge smile, ready to talk with M/n; he had been waiting for him to turn on the tv but his eyes were exposed with a shocking sight.

M/n was on the floor and they were crying while Josh kicked him over and over again, he was curled in a wall and shaking slightly. As soon as Josh ended his assault and left the house M/n was simply laying on the floor, numb and coughing some blood, the feeling of bile stayed on his throat and his headache worsen to the point where he could feel as if someone was pounding his heartbeat with a hammer.

"Neighbor... M/n?," Wally said softly but he was still muted but he saw how M/n weakly lifted his sight to Wally and gave him the most heartbreaking soft smile but as soon as he smile he felt another sharp pain followed with some blood being spitted out.

"Don't worry, he has done this before," said M/n in such a weak voice that Wally in a different scenario would have melted at hearing but he knew deep down that M/n was lying. He could tell by how weakly he was moving but as soon as he saw M/n eyes start rolling and his eyelids starting to shut his instincts took over and he started banging the screen until it broke.

Wally ran to M/n seeing how his skin was slowly turning paler by the minute and so he picked him up and took him with himself through the Tv screen. Wally kept in mind that he would need to give Josh a personal visit but for now it's more important making sure his best friend, his soulmate, didn't die because of someone like him.

Lately, I've been having a bit of inspiration for @sketchquill's "Corpse Puppet" Au. I've been able to get further along "White Tulips" and I've decided to make this prologue image, which is also the first time I ever drew Howdy Pillar before. This is a portrait Howdy and Stacy took twenty-two years after they got married. Their union brought about many a thing, including the birth of three children, the Pillar Family being saved from poverty, and the Flannigan Family gaining social standing. Howdy, despite his parents' protests, took to learning the art of business and became the new head of the Flannigan Mercantile empire. He still gained the title of Lord, but now he was able to earn back the family fortune.

Aside from raising three children (two sons and a daughter), Stacy became a patroness of the arts in memory of her dear friend and "first husband," Wally Darling. She was also the one who had to inform his father about his son's death, to which the Earl was grateful. She brought culture to the dreary town and even her daughter became one of the pioneering female artists of the age. (It was considered inappropriate for women to take up the arts in Stacy's youth.)

Both Howdy and Stacy brought other changes to the town including the ending of arranged marriages. When their parents' protested, the couple reminded them about the hoops they had to go through to get married and did not want that to happen to their children. This painting was made for their 22nd wedding anniversary. Just a few days before Stacy caught something that would shorten her lifespan by a significant margin.

Idea: He was deeply in love. Wally Darling, a handsome young man. Julie Joyful, a gorgeous young lady. It seemed as if they were the perfect pair, though love has blinded Wally from realizing that wasn't the case. In fact, he was so, so wrong.

Reminder: Quick disclaimer, this fic will contain one-sided love and murder!! While canon to both Corpse Bride and Corpse Puppet AU, I know this stuff is not for everyone! Potential spoilers will be ahead as well for Corpse Bride!! You have been warned, viewer. >:)

Julie Joyful, how does one begin to describe her? Her beauty is simply just breathtaking. Pretty, beautiful, gorgeous.. no words can even describe how extravagant this young lady was. Always wore her precious jewels and pearls around her neck. Always kept her long, blonde hair up in a ponytail. Always wore her most delicate dresses, everything looked so good on her. People all around town can never get enough of her beauty. She knows this and takes pride in it. How many hearts she's stolen, how many men have fallen in love with her. It was too much to count. She could brag about it all day if she really wanted to.

However, just because they fall for her doesn't mean she falls for them, oh no no. Julie is rich and wealthy, she shows it so through her outfits and precious jewels she wears. She has very high standards, mind you, and not a single man or woman out there has swept her off her feet. It was getting tiring, actually. Always having looks at her, but never returns them simply because she doesn't see them that way.

But it's not like she needs the love, anyways.

She doesn't need it. What she needs is gold, lots of them. Diamonds if possible, she wants it all. Sure, she's rich, but what she has now isn't enough. She needs more. More of that wealth and luxury.

And fortunately for her, a poor soul just so happens to fall in love with her, and have the money.

It was quite simple, actually. As usual, Julie was headed out when a young man just so happens to walk to her the opposite direction. He stops and looks at her, and right then and there, is already falling in love. For a moment, she was about to wave and walk off, but what caught her attention was the satchel of gold he carried. Was he rich, too? It wasn't easy to tell, despite being wealthy herself. She reaches her hand out and plays along, pretending to be swept off her feet by him. He takes her hand and holds it softly. With a small bow, he introduces himself.

Wally Darling.

An interesting name to say the least.

But that doesn't matter now. His name means nothing to her. For now, however, she played with his feelings and sent him compliments purely to toy with his heart.

It was like a fun little game. Except Wally is the pawn and Julie is the player.

And of course, all games must come to an end.

And that ending will be his.

Weeks go by, and it all came down to this exact moment. It was cold out, the moon sat exactly in the middle of the dark skies as all could be seen were the moonlight and stars. Wally stood nearby at an oak tree, he was ready to go. All dressed up in a tuxedo, taken from his father. It was true, you really didn't need much when you were in love.

He held his satchel of gold close, smiling so brightly as he waited for his beloved Julie. He never questioned why she asked for his precious valuables. Perhaps it was to show them off? She shows her jewels off, so maybe she wants him to do the same? Yeah, that seems fair.

The waiting was starting to get to Wally. He became worried. Did she get lost? Oh goodness.. did she leave him alone? To sit in the darkness? He knew she knew about his father being against their wanted marriage. He couldn't cope with that alone, but he couldn't bear to think of the possible scenarios of where Julie could be.

As he stood alone, there stood Julie just at a fair distance away from him. She alone wasn't dressed up, just in one of her fancy dresses. She wasn't about to ruin a wedding dress for this quick stunt. She stared, closely examining his posture and keeping low Incase he were to turn around. With a twisted grin and ax in hand behind her back, Julie slowly approached Wally. A few steps in, she puts on her facade and coughs to get his attention.

"Wally, sweetheart?" She called out, just managing to force care into her voice.

Wally felt his heart flutter, his stomach filled with butterflies. He turned to his feet and faced Julie, sighing in relief when he saw she was okay.

"Julie, my pretty rose!"

Ew, she hated that name.. she forced a smile and took a few steps forward, sighing.

"Oh, Wally.. you have no idea how much I've been waiting for this moment."

..Poor Wally wasn't aware about what was coming to him. His heart was beating so loud, being filled with so much love for his precious darling. He loved her. Wally loves Julie. But she doesn't love him, not at all.

"There's no need to wait anymore. We can run away, be somewhere far away. We can have our future, just to ourselves. Oh, Julie, I'm so happy to marry you!"

The excitement in his voice, his unconditional love for her was showing through.

Too bad for him, that was about to be cut off.

"Oh, Wally.."

Julie paused for a moment. She broke the facade. A creepy smile crept on her lips as she took out the ax that she hid behind her back.

"I wish I could say the same."

What..? No, no no..

Wally was taken aback. He quickly took a few steps back as fear crept on him like an incoming tsunami. That tsunami crashed, all was visible was fear and terror on his look.

"J-Julie?!"

No, he didn't have time to think. He needed to get out, and fast. Wally quickly turned on his feet to run, but he was stopped. Julie was quick to grab him by the arm, tightening her grip as she prepared to strike. Before Wally could think or process what was happening, there was a sudden sound that clapped through the air.

It was loud, causing Wally to flinch. He then felt excruciating pain somewhere in his arm. He looked down and screamed, seeing he was now missing an arm.

"PLEASE, STOP!" Wally managed to scream out in between his pained noises. Tears ran down his face, crying in so much pain. Julie took enjoyment in his cries, he should've stepped away when he had the chance back then.

With a sick, twisted laughter, Julie took the chance and shoved Wally down to the ground. He groaned in pain, trembling as fear and pain overwhelmed him. He was a sobbing mess, the veil covering his face as he looked up at Julie with heartbreak, fear, and betrayal. She stomped down on his leg, causing him to flinch and cry more in pain.

"Stay still. I'll make this as painless as possible for you." She spoke coldly. She made it very clear that she never loved him. She never loved him, and it now too Wally this exact moment for him to realize that.

"N-No, please.." He began to plead. Julie lifted her ax up in the air, staring down at Wally with a horrific grin.

"JULIE, PLEASE! DON'T DO THIS TO ME! I LOVED YOU, PLEASE! NO, NO!!" Wally was bawling his eyes out. His heart beat faster, but not out of love. It was out of fear and terror. Oh god, he was about to die. There was nothing he could do.

"NO!" Was all Wally could scream out as he saw Julie slam her ax down.

Then.. everything went black.

There was no pulse. No heartbeat.

Oh.. he was dead..

Wally was dead..

...

Why..?

Why him..?

It didn't feel real, he didn't want it to be real.

No, no.. he can't possibly be dead.

Somewhere, out there, he was there. It was pitch black. Was he in his mind? That would be far fetched, yet there he laid on the ground. Everything was pitch black. So much pain overwhelmed him, it was difficult to move. But eventually, the pain slowly began to subside.

Wally softly groaned as he slowly sat up. As he sat up, he noticed stitches on his arm that.. was chopped off.

His eyes widened. Tears flooded his eyes as he saw how horribly discolored his skin was. Once a cheery yellow, was now a dark blue that is cold. He looked down at himself, now noticing that all of his precious valuables were now missing.

Wally lost everything. Oh.. he really lost everything.

He couldn't handle this. Wally slowly began to sob as he stared at the ground in disbelief.

"N-No.. I can't be dead.. I can't.. be dead.. No.. please.. Julie, why..?"

Wally held his hands together tightly and held them against his chest as he sobbed uncontrollably. He felt like he couldn't breathe. His heart ached, his body was numb. What did he do to deserve this..?

He didn't understand. He didn't understand anything. Wally sighed with a shaky breath as he continued to sob. He slowly curled up in a ball. All he could do was cry and sob. He couldn't control his emotions. Tears kept pouring down until his head ached.

Wally loved Julie. She meant the whole world to him. She was the one who made his heart flutter. But now?

She was the one who made his heart stop beating.

Welcome Home AU Info & Masterlist

The At Dead of Night Au (or ADON AU for short)

This AU is based on the game At Dead of Night! The game and my AU have themes of Suicide, Child Neglect, Child Abuse, Child Death and Murder so please be cautious when reading/engaging with this AU! All posts I make about this AU will be labeled with appropriate warnings (based on the content of the post itself.

I’m do not have the energy to digitalize and color these yet so have my sketchbook sketches for now (color to be added later). I’ll draw better sketches later too.

Summary: The ADON AU follows Julie as she navigates an old and barely upkept hotel trying to free her friends (Eddie, Howdy and Frank) from locked hotel rooms. As she does so, she must help ghosts haunting the premises remember what happened to them, all while getting chased around by Wally (and the ghost possessing him)!

Wally Playfellow (Alive): Son of James Playfellow and Poppy Partridge (the latter by marriage). When he’s not possessed, he is a gentle and loving person. Although not very outgoing, he does love to preform on stage, preforming for children before bedtime and having a more adult themed show later in the evening. His stage name is Wally Darling.

James Playfellow (Dead): Father of Wally Playfellow and deceased husband to the late Poppy. He was manipulative to Wally and often used him for personal gains. His tactics grew to be more violent overtime, which resulted in his death where he was killed by {REDACTED}. The image above shows his form when he was alive. His mother was a puppet and his father was half puppet, resulting in him having more human features such as skin and a nose while still retaining black eyes and blue hair, like his mother's. His hair, despite being naturally blue, does grey as a human's would.

Poppy Partridge (Dead): Poppy is the mother of Wally Playfellow and deceased wife of James Playfellow. Although not biologically related, she considers herself to be Wally’s only mother (his previous one passing on after birth). Wally sees her the same way. After the death of her husband, she struggles with major anxiety and depressive episodes that leave her staying inside the hotel most days. She has to hire the help of Harvey Home, who then goes on to be the proprietor of the hotel. She takes the free time she has to be a doting and devoted mother to Wally.

Dr. Barnaby Beagle (Dead): A therapy dog that was hired by Poppy when Wally was a teenager to help him after his violent outburst got too much for Poppy to handle alone. Barnaby is genuine in his attempts at helping Wally, though in the end is unsuccessful in changing Wally’s mannerisms.

Fun Fact: Barnaby is the only Ghost to be still have his legs! It’s his personal choice to appear as such.

Harvey Home (Dead): Mr. Home was hired by Poppy to run the hotel since she was unable to. He and Wally rarely get along. When Wally was younger, Harvey simply dealt with the disrespect. As he got older he started to tolerate it less and less. Although incredibly patient under normal circumstances, Wally seems to bring out the worst in him. After all his hard work, Home was appointed the proprietor by Poppy. He gets to enjoy his position very little since he dies soon after he is appointed.

Sally Starlet (Dead): Sally and her family were frequent patrons of the hotel since her father traveled for work and often brought his family with him. Sally was familiar with the hotel and Wally. They used to play well together in the stage area. This is how Wally learned to love the spotlight. After Wally’s behavior begins to change, Sally drifted apart from him and often preferred to play on her own.

Julie Joyful (Alive): she is set to meet her friends Frank, Eddie, and howdy at the hotel before they go on a trip. Julie is the last to check in with her friends. She sees Wally attack Frank and runs downstairs to make it called the cops. The phone doesn’t work. She finds a scrying mirror, a compass and ghost speaker. The adventure begins.

Frank Frankly, Howdy Pillar, Eddie Dear (Unknown): All three arrived before Julie and were attacked one by one after a gentle refusal to watch Wally’s show that evening. Just like the friends in the original game, they are only a background motivator for Julie, and make no significant contributions to the series of events.

NOTES: Not all of the back stories from the games will transfer over identically to this AU. While a lot of the themes and ways of dying do indeed transfer over, this AU is not identical. A handful of things mentioned in the original game are not themes I want to add to this AU for personal reasons.

Allegedly there was a muppet show from the 70s and It was about the main character Wally Darling and his neighbor's adventures.

Following Barnaby, Eddie, Frank, Julie, Howdy, Sally, and a new neighbor!

Unlike the rainbow characters, this neighbor was gothic, her style her house, yard, and pet.

This neighbor was called "Brienne Velvet."; this character was unknown for a long time.

All we knew about her was her sweet personality, wild side, unseen little sister, and pet spider "Nancy."

However, what was clear was that Wally and Brienne were close neighbors; who had feelings for each other.

She was known as Wally's "girlfriend." to the fans, who were mostly children.

Unfortunately, all was not what it seemed as the show would be canceled in 1974.

In the year 2023, it appears there is a group trying to bring back the long-forgotten show "Welcome Home."

On a website, but as usual, not all things are what they seem.

The website had disturbing imagery and glitches.

In this universe, evil lurks within this website, but it's not the house known as "Home".

Wally Darling was the evil entity, forcing Home under his control as he controlled his neighbors...bodies.

Wally attempts to manipulate you, but Brienne never allows it.

At first, she thought Wally was the "Good guy," but then she found out it was Home.

Wally was controlling her friends against their will.

Brienne felt betrayed, anger, sadness, and brokenhearted as the puppet she loved betrayed her trust and their friends.

It appeared he didn't feel their love was real as she did...

He manipulated, mistreated, and controlled her.

....

So...she fled.

She ran far, far, far away for years until You appeared.

With You's help, she dared to go against Wally's control.

Soon enough, Brienne became a leader of a rebellion against Wally and to free her friends.

You were her second in command, You looked up to Brienne; to them, she was the shining light within the darkness.

You never gave in or gave up because of her and now their mission was to free the neighborhood and stop Wally at ANY cost.

Honestly, for those wondering what happened to Brienne’s eye.

Wally ripped her eye out when she tried to escape, he torture, mmaipulate and for her to be a housewife.

She found out he wasn't who he said he was, she was forced into a marriage with him.

rambling time:

alright I knew I wanted my percy to be inspired by raggedy Ann dolls specifically the hairstyle and the overalls, I gave him a scarf 🧣 to represent “a scarf for Percy” episode and of course they’re little hat with the sodor mail logo and her mailbag with their whistle and lucky bell as keychains (I forgot to to draw them but say it’s behind her back) 🔔 I was gotta decorate her boots more but I it slipped out my mind and I was originally gotta make them red. Of course they have their pins on their bag a bear pin for “wooly bear” a butterfly 🦋 for aeg (I know I know people still don’t like it please don’t come after me) and their gender-fluid and pan pride pin.

Patrick or Harry was the easiest to be honest like nearly all of my cfr designs was mainly inspired by glowynviator except I added some minor changes like an orange scarf 🧣 his boots and pants color change and design and he got classy pristine gloves and earrings and of course a pompadour which is fitting for his nature (I know it’s looks like wally darling xD that’s the idea 💡)

Andreas I was originally searching up Argentinan fashion for him cause he’s afro Argentinan in my human au cause his basis was sent there but it was formal dress wear so I went with that along with fancy British style cause my Andreas comes from old money an wealthy family and he totally shows off like Gordon he’s also got a cape jacket like him but I couldn’t decide which one cause I did so many of them I’ll post them later and maybe do a poll on it even though knowing me I’ll use all of them haha

(Gordon 🤝 Andreas they r besties they gossip have coffee and Gordon was the first standard guage driver to visit Andreas in the hospital 🏥 after the accident this does apply for Alfred as well but he’s was a prick and he and Andreas got into arguments) and also like Gordon has his own fair share of toxic dysfunctional relationships ridiculously high standards and the pressure to be perfect though unlike Gordon Andreas was originally engaged through an arranged marriage by his family mainly his abuelo which secretly stressed about it for he had no feelings for her and if he was honest never felt attracted towards girls even though he was well liked and known and popular and that his stomach often churns at the thought the same goes with more intimate activities that he doesn’t really wish to have children at least not yet and gosh-

Like y’all (his main inspiration was Encanto Isabela and her family I guess you can say he’s a genderbent version as despite his own emotions thoughts and fears he was determined to not frightened of disappointing his family and being the golden child and the oldest (he’s meant to be a foil to Gordon and Alfred who are meant to be parallels to one another’s it’s complicated) he’s very grateful he managed to convince his abuelo to let him have the opportunity to work on sodor under the excuse it would be good to have more connections the railway needs assistance and this would be great experience in an effort to put the marriage on hold among o th her things (cause he did fight in the war with his engine but his family mainly his abuelo was too worried of losing him and practically begged him to return back home even giving money 💰 to Andreas superiors and Andreas ends up returning early like less than a few months athough the marriage was cancelled after his family found out after his accident later on still wondering if some of his family members move to sodor which Andreas deliberately put off and revelations are revealed which leads to huge arguments and Andreas is no longer welcomed into the family not officially disowned but it’s was more of a like until he got his act together to him and it stung cause they couldn’t tell it to his face yet at the same so relieve cause he felt like he couldn’t handle so many people in the room overall it’s extremely messy but he still feels thankful that he got a support system on sodor and he got out of a rather toxic and kinda forced heteronormative environment

Duncan has so many outfits and hairstyles that I’m drawing out cause my guy goes through the wringer he’s got so much character development going on but I went with one of a more healing style he wearing something’s that’s causal yet comfortable (of course I drew him with a guitar he finds comfort in music and yeah he’s in his pride colors) he’s not pretending to be this overly happy guy in an effort to please others as his way to cope with the situation but ge wrote his red outfit I’m leaning towards boilersuit/jumpsuit (which he ends up burning and throwing away cause well it’s kindave stained while he was doing his hardest to recuse Andreas like he accidentally injured himself in the attempt to free Andreas think suletta and her hands but he was freaking out in full panic not thinking and now every time he looks at it looks st himself his stomach turns to kits he stays seating he’s shaking cause it reminded him so much of what was Andreas when he was recused and how he was almost…killed… BY HIM…he was severely injured and barely alive but still somehow breathing

First time you see him he’s got a Mohawk, it’s messy but cool looking but to others on a outsiders views he appears not to care about appearance which does rub (mostly Andreas who’s obsessed with making perfect appearances and self-importance) leads to them butting heads a lot like it’s kinda an isa and Mira situation where they’re both envious of one another where Duncan is jealous over how between the two numbers 6’s here it’s appears that a majority of folks prefers Andreas while Andreas even though he’s in an environment where he can express more freedom and won’t be punished for it he still can’t downright be more vocal towards authority (at least till the hours of the incident where he argued with the supervisor but it was more on the lines of safety and not recklessness) treatment or say everything on his mind with vulgar languages and he is a bit impressed on that but wishes Duncan had common sense and not just complain about everything and anything

So yeah they rubbed one another all the wrong ways and Duncan calls him “mister perfect” Andreas retorts to him being a hypocrite yet didn’t hesitate to put his life on the line and recuse him and Duncan just felt excruciating amount of guilt and also reeling from that situation since it’s also traumatic for him like he was right there when Andreas getting crushed and unfortunately the first actually see how bad lead injuries were on Andrea’s and it ran and it wasn’t a pretty sight and I will let you guys fill in the head. It’s but for Duncan, his mental health was taking a toll on him

A majority of his colleagues (the msr the ones who knew Andreas was he longest they held him responsible some even right blaming him (like I wrote that Andreas family were gotta sue him as well as the railway but that was stoped by Andreas but that didn’t do well for Duncan emotionally) for everything others not speaking or or even acknowledging him like he’s existence leave it like glares they’re grieving they’re dealing with this situation and it doesn’t excuse their actions or their treatment of Duncan but it explains it it’s still not right but it’s like all sadnes all around. Even though Duncan has the support and comfort of the Skr members he still feels like he’s responsible and begins to overwork himself like bag eyes despite his smiling attitude like his hair outgrew the passing couple of months and he’s putting it in a braid or ponytail he’s wearing less red (I got an idea on his that looks like) yet he neglecting his own health then he comes back after his run in with the scientists where he was knocked unconscious and he’s wearing yellow like he dyed his hair he subconsciously changes to match Andreas ponytail and a more fitting attire and ugh my heart

IN THE MEANTIME!!!

This is puppet Dolly’s updated character sheet for the marriage AU!

What’s the marriage AU, you ask? What a great transition!

Dolores and Wallace Dorelaine married in 1973 after meeting and subsequently working on the Welcome Home Puppet Show, created by Wallace’s Brother Ronald. Wallace puppeteered for the main character Wally Darling, while Dolores helped to produce the show. Welcome Home was suddenly cancelled due to a studio fire that completely burnt the Playfellow Workshop along with the disappearance of Wallace and Ronald in the fire. No bodies were ever recovered of the two men.

Nearly a decade later Dolores settled into a quiet life where she never remarried, and believed Wallace and Ronald were still alive out there somewhere. Traumatized by the event her nights are filled with restless, vivid and nearly prophetic dreams, until one fateful day where she receives a phone call urging her to sell the lot that housed the rotting structure of the old playfellow workshop. After revisiting she is transported into the neighborhood of Welcome Home where she is transformed into a puppet and treated as though she has always been a neighbor. It’s a race against the clock to return to her world as her concept of time and her memories slowly fade. She must find a way to escape the technicolor neighborhood, as well as discover the truth of her missing husband.

It’s honestly been so crazy seeing how my grasp on clowns style has improved from before and also just how my art has changed and grown since I got into this fandom!

Because she’s sooooo eepy I wanted to make her main outfit pjs!
