Period drama week 2023-
Lady Violet Crawley (Maggie Smith), the absolute queen of Downton Abbey. What more can be said?
Best line: I'm a woman Mary, I can be as contrary as I choose.
Day 6: Favourite characters.
William Buxton (Tom Hiddleston), Cranfords resident dog dad. Have to give a shout out to Sykes, Hiddles may have been my teenage crush but he will forever be my favourite actor RIP.
Best trait: Hopeless romantic.
Elizabeth Butler (Charlie Murphy) she has it all talent to sing, brains to train as a doctor, born into money yet has a heart for those "beneath" her. Truly embodies the spirit of Rebellion, I wish she was in the second series or at least had more than that one line mention.
Best feat: Joined the Easter rising faught and healed, all while looking stunning in her wedding dress.
This is in no particular order appart from definitely number 1.
Best line: Wouldn't dream of it *sassiest head wobble known to mankind*
Captain Declan Fraser (Frank Blake), Sanditon season twos real heartthrob. Them eyes you could swim in with the sarcastic smile, why did any of the ladies look at anyone else? Heroic, intelligent, dry sense of humour and sensitive to boot. Austinesque swoonwodthyness at its peak.
Abigail Hill (Emma Stone), so pure yet so evil, no wonder she is The Favourite. Amazing characterisation, still can't figure out if I love or loath her but I'm here for it.
Greatest feat: Changes the course of a war whilst holding the position of a maid.
Benadict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson). If Colin is the labrador of the family, Benadict is the cat. Appreciative of the finer things in life, values aesthetics, is willing to play by his own rules and is very loving to his family (I especially love his relationship with Eloise, he doesn't understand her struggles but he still wants to listen and share a cheeky cig).
Best line: Poetry is the art of revealing precious truth with words.

The day after Spooky Day, Violet came to the rescue of Velma's fun and social bars by throwing a party. For some reason, probably having to do with the hot tub, Violet's parties are generally successful and never include EA randos.
I'm not sure why slow-dancing was such a theme at this one, but both Violet and Velma were pretty into it.
Unlike Violet's Leisure Day party, the hot tub action was... maybe not what it could have been.

you know, the Horrible Histories "Victorian names were WEIRD!!!!" skit leaves out some important info on some of the names (assisted by Ancestry.com searches):
Lettice Berger: "Lettice" was an anglicization of the Roman name "Leticia." Berger is just a normal German surname. Yes, they had the word "lettuce," and I'm sure the similarities occurred to them. But nobody named their child "lettuce" like the vegetable.
O.K. Johnson: Probably just the kid's initials. "O.K." as a slang term was invented in 1830s Boston, but without any evidence of when little O.K. lived (they don't cite any sourced for these names, how convenient), it's impossible to tell whether it would have crossed the pond by the time he was born.
Never [they pronounce the surname Rookrook]: I found a LOT of Nevers in the UK with Indian surnames. So uh. There's that. And a lot of census records online seem to have notes written by the census-taker mislabeled as names- "never opens door" was one I noticed. Just saying. I also found multiple "NEVA Rook" census entries- which probably would have been pronounced "NEE-vah" but sounds like "Never" with a British accent if you tilt your head and squint.
Toilet: Surprisingly common modern misreading of "Violet" on 19th-century censuses with bad handwriting.
Baboon: Found one census where it's a misreading of "Barbara;" others were non-Anglo names like Baban, Babyon, Babboni, etc.
Susan Semolina-Thrower: That's just two unfortuate surnames, I'm guessing? I can't find their sources, again, but I do find a lot of records of "Semolina" as a surname in the UK during the 19th century. The poor parents had no control over that, did they?
Happy: ...yeah, it's a virtue name. And? How is that weirder than Faith, Hope, Grace, Patience, Prudence, etc?
Evil: Another census misreading- usually "Evie."
Minty Badger: "Minty" is short for Araminta/Aminta/Arminta. Still sounds like a Discworld character, but nothing would sound normal with "Badger" as a surname. Araminta Badger at least makes more sense to modern ears, though.
Freezer Breezer: Breezer was a real surname, and parents can be cruel. I don't doubt that- my dad went to school with an "Emily Memily." that being said...I did find a "Fred R. Breezer" born in 1873 in England; see above re: census misreadings. Just throwing that out there. I found it as a corruption/misspelling of "Fraser/Frasier" too.
Scary Looker: I actually found this one. It was a misreading of "Jeany" on a census- the girl's name was Jane Looker, born 1841 in Lancashire to John and Elizabeth Looker. Nice research there, team.
Farting Clack: Fasting Clack or Clark, born 1863 in London. Another lovely misreading from the census. True "Fasting Clark" is not NOT a weird name, but it's a lot less horrible than "Farting Clack" and it makes sense under the Hyper-Christian Parents category.
Princess Cheese was real, not a nickname, and not a misreading or misspelling. Princess May Cheese was born in 1896 in West Bromwich. She married one John T. Brookes in 1914- possibly eager to no longer be a Cheese?
Multiple people really have been christened Bovril, most notably one Bovril Simpson, married in West Ham in 1911.
Incredibly, Raspberry/Rasberry/Roseberry is a real given name, and Lemon a real surname. Most people named Raspberry seem to have been men.
So that's only three of their Wacky Victorian Names that are actually 100% real. Nice job, there, team. I love Ghosts, but get your collective act together!
(They did once have a skit insisting that Victorians called trousers "the southern necessity" when that's actually a phrase from the writings of famously terrible 19th-century author Amanda McKittrick Ros, whose work her contemporaries loved poking fun at. So I shouldn't be surprised)

Birthday Kisses
May 1st, 1771
The kitchen smelled wonderful, sweet and fresh and lemony. Jamie dropped his coat near the door, looking around for the source, stomach grumbling with hunger after a long day.
He spotted the cake right away, sitting cheerfully on the little table next to a bouquet of wildflowers- buttercups and silverbells with a spattering of bright purple violets.
"There you are," John spoke from the doorway, smile wide and warm, "I see you've found your surprise."
"Surprise?" Jamie asked, going to John and wrapping his arms around his love, "What's the occasion?"
"Your birthday of course," John said, leaning up to look at him.
"It's not my birthday…" Jamie began, realizing even as he spoke that he wasn't exactly sure what day it was, only that it was springtime.
"It certainly is," John laughed, running his fingers through the wild tangle of Jamie's hair, "You're fifty."
That couldn't be right, he didn't feel fifty. Fifty was older than his father had been when he'd died, and even then, Brian Fraser had always seemed much older than Jamie felt now. No, there was no possible way that he was fifty years old. He didn't like the number one bit.
"And because it is your birthday, that means I get to give you fifty kisses to celebrate," John continued, planting a soft peck on his cheek. "There's one…" Another on his neck. "There's two…" And his lips. "There's three…"
Well, Jamie thought as he relished each kiss, fifty wasn't such a bad number after all...

Outlander, The Hunger Games, and I have a WIP for OUAT. On my old wattpad I had some twilight, harry potter, and star wars fics I never finished.

I used to always leave at least a thank you on all of them but then that just seemed repetitive and I stopped writing as much so I’ve forgotten about comments sections to the fics I feel guilty about not updating in a while.

Definitely greensleeves

Those exist? Idk it probably would be Da mi diebus mille if I actually got to the ending part. But actually finished would maybe be roses love sunshine, violets love dew?

I haven’t interpreted anything as hate

Yes but more just the occasional thing thrown in a fic to attempt it and also because outlander is kind of a big area for smut in fic.

No except I wrote parodies on wattpad as a kid and the thirsty games had dora and the map and the animals from animal farm. Oh and detergent my divergent one had thomas the train in it

Everlark. Season 1 jamieclaire are close but also tainted by later seasons so

The Sassenach Faerie as in the sequels I planned out and have an outline for probably won’t be fleshed out but I’ll finish the first part

I’m good at illustrating things sometimes but also my vocabulary has deteriorated and deteriorated so. I also love coming up with different ideas and plots
17-What are your writing weaknesses?
Actually writing. Smut too and I feel like whenever I write relationships or characters they’re never realistic
18-Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I mean I could but it would feel out of place probably because I wouldn’t be naturally fluent like I could try spanish but it might be terrible. Also gàidhlig is hard to write too and I feel bad just using google translate sometimes

Star wars I think I wrote a fic where palpatine came back to life and tried to kill kid like but anakin saved him
