How am I still discovering new things in Arcane? 馃槀
So I was browsing through Pinterest and found this Arcane screenshot (I think it's a split second frame from when Sevika's walking through the Lanes, you know the scene that's showcasing Zaun under Silco's rule) of a large turtle like Vasteyan preaching to a crowd of Worshippers.
At first I assumed that these were worshippers of Janna (Zauns goddess and another League champion), and thought it was a nice nod in her direction. But then I looked closer and, ummmmmm...
And discovered....
A bit of....
A theme...
One, there are a lot of eyeballs in this shot 馃憖
Two, these aren't Janna's worshippers. These are the Eye of Zaun's worshippers.
Silco isn't just a kingpin, he's a figure of worship amongst quite a few in Zaun.
To the point that this preacher isn't just tattooing eyes on himself, but also carrying around eyeballs in jars as if they are tributes to his Messiah.
These people in the crowd are even holding up eyeballs as offerings...
This is simultaneously interesting and terrifying. Interesting because this is a detail that the animators didn't have to include. Terrifying in that we hadn't truly seen Silco's true influence in Zaun.

Ever watching, ever burning. Seeing death and dreams of yearning. A witness of a thousand lies. Unblinking beneath relentless skies.
Ever waiting, ever learning. Piercing fog as cogs are turning. A herald of a lasting dawn.
Here he comes. The Eye of Zaun.

A Brief Silco Character Design Analysis
Last night, I was watching The Fellowship of the Ring and thought of something about Silco (the brainrot is REAL and has no sign for fucking slowing down. Please pray for me) when the Eye of Sauron showed up.
I don't remember which Lord of the Rings film has this interview in its extra features, but some Tolkien expert talked about why JRR chose *an* eye to represent the Dark Lord - as oppose to the typical two eyes.
The singular eye in indicative of Sauron's inability to see anything beyond his own objectives, wants, and goals. Nothing else matters. He wants what he wants the way he wants it, and he will not 'see' other options or possibilities.
Bring in our favorite rat-man-crime-dad . . .
Obviously, Silco already has the moniker 'The Eye of Zaun' (again, singular: One Eye). And, yes, we could *just* apply a similar analysis to Silco as we did the Eye of Sauron. But I wanna take a couple steps further!!! Indulge me, won't you? (please be mindful of spoilers below)
In Act 1, Silco's mutated eye (which already looks like the artists may have taken some inspiration from the Eye of Sauron), while creepy, is much more similar to his healthy eye - in the sense that his pupil is round, and there are clearer lines of demarcation between the pupil, iris, and sclera.
In Act 1 episode 3, Silco offers Vander some semblance of forgiveness by suggesting that they could work together again to achieve Zaun's independence. He's willing to move past whatever happened between them and collaborate. He wants to, once again, share *their* vision of Zaun. Granted, he goes about it in a really cruel way (killing Benzo and Grayson, and beating Vander into submission), but still . . . there is a part of Silco that doesn't want to do this alone.
Vander declines, effectively abandoning Silco again.
In Acts 2 and 3, after the time skip, we see that Silco's Eye has mutated further. Now, the pupil is warped and the iris' edges fade into the sclera.
Firstly, yes, I do think this is also meant to show that his infection is worsening.
BUT I also think its meant to indicate that he is blinded by his goals for Zaun's independence, hate for Piltover, and inability to see or consider anything else beyond his own opinions, objectives, and experiences.
He cannot see past his own nose (wonderful though it may be).
I just adore the attention to detail Fortiche put into every pixel of this series. Nothing is without deeper meaning or nuance.
I have some additional thoughts about Silco and his Eye in terms of his character arc and how Fortiche chose to "film" him, but I'll save that for another day . . .
What do you think?

A commission for the Playground server and something I had planned for quite some time
The gator's name is Toothy, guess who named her. Jinx got Toothy for Silco after Singed healed him with Shimmer post-ep 9, so she'd protect him from 'monsters, y'know...and me...'m sorry.' - The AU in my head
I have Patreon and you can get rewards there!

When you remember that in Zaun people are giving fresh eyeballs to a giant turtle with Silco鈥檚 tattoo on it's hand, you realize the Inx aren't a huge leap in idol worshippers for next season. Frankly these Jinx stans are downright normal compared to whatever Silco's been encouraging. Sans the elaborate acts of vandalism, terrorism, and real estate theft, they're just well organized, creative, passionate young people that discovered they like pink, blue, crop tops, and fishnets.
The catharsis of revenge brought them together and the power of music/performance art holds them down. They also seem to throw amazing raves.
It's also fun to just think about the immediate ripple effect Jinx's actions have on the zeitgeist Zaun's youth. In Chadd's concept art for Convergence alone it's like the Council bombing changed the trajectory of his life, and Jinx didn't even do that in the game.
