So, I haven't gotten much sleep but wanted to make this real quick, it's just about the shipping really.

I'll be blunt, even if Velvette wasn't Val or Vox's adopted daughter, I still don't get why people ship her with them. She has never shown any romantic interest towards them. She's just more focused on Vox and Val being together. I would've just shipped Velvette with Cherri. Both love chaos and fighting so they'd be perfect together. Get Velvette AWAY from Val. Vox could've seen Velvette as almost like a daughter since she tries to help him out a lot and he seems to care about her a lot more than Val.

Vox and Pentious could've been a thing. Vox is desperate for attention and Pentious has been trying to get his attention for YEARS, why would they suddenly cut that?? They made him more pathetic than the pilot version. Pentious loves building stuff, Vox loves building stuff, both have hypno powers, that should've been a thing.

Val will probably die by Vox since there's blue bug zapper lanterns seen behind him. I'm hoping that I'm wrong about Val living and he just gets shocked by Vox.

I don't care for Husk and Anthony, I honestly think Husk should've been aroace instead of Alastor. I don't mind if he's ace but it's weird to call him aromantic just because he loves himself more than other people, or whatever. Something about him being aroace because he's narcissistic?? I could be wrong and probably read that from someone else but I wouldn't be surprised if it was true since she didn't even want to mention he's aromantic since she "Doesn't want to ruin the fun". I remember there being a video about that...

I don't really care for Alastor since Charlie doesn't even need his help and he's also just there because he's bored and Charlie should've been keeping an eye out for him in case he started causing trouble for her and her GF.

Charlie is absolutely annoying and Vaggie needs a better GF than her. The pilot version of Charlie seems better.

okay i think my least favorite thing about umbrella academy is how they portrayed working in an orchestra in season one. the way helen talked to viktor in episode 3 (or episode 2? i'm pretty sure it's episode 3) is wildly inaccurate.

(1) usually everyone knows everyone within their section. you work together for years and have to communicate. if the principal of a section (the first chair) decides to go with a certain fingering or bowing in a passage that's not what was previously established, then they have to share it with the assistant principal, who then helps pass it down the line. you'll figure out everyone's names eventually.

(2) helen saying that practice doesn't matter in the end and you have to have something "special"? that's literally just bullshit. if you're in an orchestra, it's assumed that you put in an absurd amount of hours practicing. it usually includes practicing technique exercises, etudes, solo repertoire, any chamber (small ensemble, like trios, quartets, etc) repertoire the musician is working on, and orchestral excerpts. even if the musician isn't actively participating in a performance of a symphony, they're usually practicing excerpts from symphonies. all that work and effort definitely exceeds raw talent.

(3) viktor solely playing a movement from a bach partita and getting first chair is not how orchestral auditions go. the principal bass seat in the philadelphia orchestra recently opened up and, in order for them to audition for the spot, they had to have forty-three excerpts prepared. that includes some of the most technically difficult excerpts for double bass that there are. they also had to prepare two movements from any bach cello suite and two movements from a solo concerto. and then there were several rounds of auditions, the final of which happened a few weeks ago. the results still haven't come out. it is an intense and thorough process that cannot happen within a single day.

(4) the fact that viktor told allison "i have to rehearse" when talking about having to practice individually just irked me. rehearsal is in reference to practicing a piece with someone else, whether it be with a piano accompanist, a quartet, or a full orchestra.

VERY IMPORTANT a dam in the Netherlands, the weerdsluis lock, is directly on a migratory path for spawning fish. They have a worker stationed there to open the door for the fish, but they can take a while to open it. So to keep the fish from getting preyed on by birds they installed a doorbell. Only, the fish don't have hands to ring the doorbell. If you go to their website, they have a LIVE CAMERA AND A DOORBELL that YOU RING FOR THE FISH when they're waiting, and then the dam worker opens the door for them! I can't express how obsessed I am with this. look at this shit. oh my god.
