Percy this. Percy that. It was always about Percy Jackson. All the fucking time.

It was always about the Hero of Olympus, the one who defeated Kronos and led the battle of Manhattan, the one who was offered immortality by the king of the gods himself, the one who restored glory to Rome by returning the golden eagle, the one who became praetor of the Roman camp in 2 weeks with limited training.

His Roman camp. Jason Grace's Roman camp.

Percy Jackson had pulled off everything in 2 weeks that Jason Grace wasn't able to accomplish despite dedicating his whole life for duty. 11 years of blood, sweat and tears, simply gone down the drain.

Jason had failed his camp. He had failed his home. Turns out, he wasn't as great as the people of Rome had once preached about him. It was obvious considering the less than warm welcome he had gotten from his so-called “home”.

He received no hugs, no cheers, no “we missed you jason!”, no “I was so worried about you!” or even a single pat on the arm by his “friend” Dakota. Dakota and Gwendolyn hadn't even spared a glance at him.

Nothing. Instead, this new Jackson boy was held up to worship like a god amongst the people who once considered Jason a “hero”.

Jason laughed bitterly. Was it selfish of him to be disappointed with Reyna? With a pang, he got to know that Reyna hadn't sent a single search party out to look for her “best friend”. Not like Annabeth did for Percy, not like Thalia did for Percy.

With a pang, he got to know that the whole camp basically deemed him as ‘dead’ and Reyna hadn't even set up a memorial of remembrance for him. The camp had simply moved on with their new hero. Without a single shred of thought for Jason Grace.

The forgotten Hero. The lost hero. Jason Grace.

These thoughts of doubt gnawed on Jason's mind, slowly eating him up ever since he'd first seen Percy Jackson in those damned praetor togas that once belonged to him.

He didn't dislike the boy, of course not, it wasn't Percy's fault that Hera wiped their memories or switched camps.

But it was hard for Jason to not resent him, or feel even the tiniest amount of envy, knowing that Reyna willingly replaced him with Jackson. Very quickly too, at that. He overheard Octavian blabbing to his lackeys about how Reyna “was head over heels for Percy almost immediately”

“I guess that's it. Maybe I am someone who is easy to replace.” Jason thought, his eyes pricking as he looked over from the flying ship, at the place he once used to call home.

Jason watched remorsefully as Thalia, Grover, Percy and Annabeth were all gathered at the table in camp half blood, cracking jokes about dam french fries or whatever that meant.

Thalia caught Jason's eyes, staring at all of them from a distance. She smiled softly, and gave him a tiny wave. He weaved his lips into something that was meant to look like a wry smile, but it came out as a slight grimace, as he waved back.

Thalia was so close to Jason, yet so far away.

He knew she loved him, but it felt different. And an annoying, nagging part of Jason had known that Thalia would never be as close to him as she was to Annabeth or Percy.

Ironic isn't it? Jason and Thalia were always connected since they came from the same womb, yet she was closer to Annabeth, a girl she'd found after she had run away from the same woman that had given Jason to the wolves. The same woman who had turned his life upside down by abandoning him.

Thalia had found Annabeth right after she thought she had lost Jason. In a strangely ironic way, Jason felt like he'd been replaced all over again.

Thalia had replaced Jason as a younger sibling with Annabeth without even realizing it, all of this took place mere months after a baby Jason was considered to be dead. This situation had strangely reminded him of Camp Jupiter, how he was replaced by Percy right after Jason was considered “dead” by Camp Jupiter.

This made Jason reach the possibility that if he were indeed “dead”, he wouldn't be missed. People wouldn't bat an eyelash. Since there was always someone better than him. Someone like Percy Jackson, who could easily fill the void Jason would leave behind.

His eyes watered, as he looked at how much fun his sister had with his friends. Knowing full well, that he'd never be able to do the same.

Jason felt ashamed that he had to ask Percy about Thalia’s likes and dislikes, he was thalia’s brother. He was supposed to know.

Jason watched as Thalia quickly hugged the trio, as she left their table to leave with the hunters, not even realizing that there was one person whom she forgot to hug.

Don't take it personally. Don't take it personally. She just forgot. She doesn't hate you. She just forgot. She doesn't prefer Percy over you. She's in a hurry. That's why she forgot. Jason repeated that like a mantra, the only person he was trying to convince was himself.

“And he rejected immortality!- oh you should've seen Zeus' face!” Annabeth exclaimed to Hazel excitedly, as Percy was blushing at the compliment fountain being poured at him by Hazel and Annabeth.

Jason had always been fascinated by that story, the almighty Percy Jackson getting offered to become a god, by Zeus.

His father. Jason's father, Zeus.

Jason felt stupid and guilty for getting envious, it's not the fact that Percy had been offered immortality, no. Jason couldn't care less about being immortal. It was the person who offered Percy invincibility that bothered Jason so much.

Jason knew that even if he went to the ends of the world to accomplish something, his father wouldn't be able to praise him or even talk to him for a long time.

Zeus and Jason could never be like Hades and Nico, or Poseidon and Percy. That's just how it is.

Reyna had come to camp half blood for a fun visit. Jason would've been ecstatic in other circumstances, but in this case, he wanted to be as far away from her as possible. Because currently, Reyna seemed to be looking at everyone, but refused to meet Jason's eyes. She seemed to keep her distance as she laughed at something Percy and Piper were saying.

She may as well have just stabbed him, it would've hurt a lot less.

He had truly been naive to believe that he could make amends with Reyna. Now he knew, it would never be possible. There was too much pain mixed with bitterness on both ends. But seeing her get along with Percy reminded him of the old times of friendship he and Reyna had shared. Keyword: had.

Once again, the fates had shown him that Percy Jackson would always be better.

As Jason Grace lay on the cold floor, coughing out blood. He realized he was alone, he was dying, but he was alone.

Like always. The sickly voice of Gaia, that had once haunted his nightmares, boomed in his head. Jason knew he was hallucinating as a result of blood loss, Gaia is in deep slumber. But that did not stop the voice in his head that was invented by his insecurities. Even in the end, you've been forgotten, Jason Grace. Because that's what you will always be. The second best. The leftover. The pawn who is discarded, after his purpose has been fulfilled. Percy Jackson would always be better in everyone's eyes.

To the Romans, you are simply the one who betrayed his lineage. But Percy is the one who restored glory. He did your job for you.

To the Greeks, you are simply a burden, one whom they were forced to welcome.

To your father, you are merely one of his many sons.

To your sister, you are a stranger.

Jason's resolve to live had weakened, hot tears were streaming down his face as he closed his eyes in defeat, he had come to the painful conclusion that nobody is going to come find his body. Nobody is going to mourn him.

“Oh I will always be much better than you at this! Bring it on, dude!” Percy laughed as he striked his play sword lightsaber at Jason's. They clashed.

“You wish, Jackson!” Jason shot back jokingly, as they sparred playfully with toy lightsabers.

“Jackson, you jerk. You were right after all, you will always be much better than me” Jason laughed bitterly, as he recalled that memory of his sparring session with Percy.

Suddenly everything went black. The life had successfully ebbed out of him.

Little did Jason know, was that someone had indeed come to look for him. Tempest, his Pegasus had come to retrieve his body, but Jason was long gone. People had indeed mourned him. His friends were, indeed, anguished. His sister was, indeed, heartbroken.

Jason's soul parted this world, with the knowledge that he'd always be The forgotten Hero.

The lost hero. Jason Grace.

Ooooo yesss thx for asking I have sooooo many ok let’s start

First, Reyna has the longest and THICKEST hair known to mankind Thalia love playing with her hair so soon enough she starts watching tutorials and then Reyna just walks around with the MOST intricate hairstyles ever.

Second, Thalia’s hair starts to grow out and it get in her face and when she’s fighting that’s going to be bad so Reyna takes matters into her own hands and decides to let Thalia pick a haircut and Reyna would cut her hair because she used to work for Circe and can do hair really well so when Thalia’s hair starts getting too long she tells Reyna what she wants and Reyna cuts her hair for her.

Third, one night Thalia wakes up in a cold sweat from a nightmare and so Reyna starts stirring and wakes up she finally gets Thalia to relax and tries to get her to sleep again Reyna having grew up near sirens cuz she was working for Circe softly sang Thalia back to bed and when the same thing happens to Reyna Thalia does the same thing so when one of them wakes up from a nightmare the other calms them down and sings them to sleep.

Lastly, Reyna’s love language is food so when Thalia is upset or just really tired Reyna just whips up the BEST tasting food in the entire universe and Thalia wonders how she got so lucky to have Reyna.

Leo stood in front of his burnt house in despair. He spent months building it and now it's in complete ashes. There was nothing left - he checked - because of the stupid Chimera attack. He could try to rebuild it but that would take more time, more energy on a house he's wanted since forever. Another few years collecting the money for the same materials as before to rebuild it. Another few years... Hasn't he waited enough? Hasn't he worked hard enough?

Isn't it obvious? Haven't you learned by now? You'll never be enough. Everything and everyone you love will always leave. He sobbed, not bothering to stop himself. It felt pointless to try again. He worked so hard for nothing. Everything he does always amounts to nothing if he's not sacrificing himself. It only works if it's for someone else.

He fell to his knees crying into his hands. He thought of telling someone but remembered he had no one. He ran away after everything. Calypso broke up with him, Jason was dead, everyone else ignored him completely or didn't know how to handle him. He wanted to start a new life. He knew he was better off alone, that Nemesis was right. He was alone and he always will be. No matter how much he missed Piper. And Hazel. And Frank and Nico and Annabeth and Percy and Reyna and Jo and Emmi... But reminded himself of what Nemesis said every time he feels that way.

When he stopped crying the moon was out and, remembering his bed was gone, just fell asleep right there.

"Leo?" Thalia asked and the boy groaned.

"Oh my Gods, it is you!" She yelled and he sat up rubbing his eyes. When his vision cleared he groaned again, this time in exasperation. Of course.

"What the hell?! Where have you been?! We've been looking everywhere for you!" She yelled pointing and accusatory finger at him. He just pushed it away and glared.

"Obviously not, since it took you this long to find me." He said and she scoffed. "Gods, I forgot how selfish you were. You run off without telling anyone, and when we find you your only thinking about your dam self!"

"Maybe I'm not and you only think that because you're mad at me. For some reason, I don't know why you even care. Piper, Hazel, Nico, and the rest understandable, but you? We were never close."

"Doesn't mean I don't care." Leo laughed out loud.

"Yeah, right. I was weird back then, your attitude back then was understandable, I don't care if you like me or not." Thalia sighed her expression softening.

"Leo, if anyone understands being a runaway, it's me. Whether you ran away because you were scared, or because you felt alone, or thought you didn't belong there, we looked because we care. Even if you don't believe it." Leo sat there pondering her words. Then he glared.

"CPS says the same thing. 'We wanna help' and they never do." He said. He took a breath. "You shouldn't be worried. I'm fine. I'm an adult, I can take care of myself."

"You're 19."

"Legally, an adult. I have a job, looking for a house-"

"Yeah, sleeping on grass by a giant pile of ash is totally normal for a house."

"I'm not trying to convince you to come back. I joined The Huntress' for a reason, but just... visit? Piper really misses you."

"And as soon as she sees me again, I'm dead."

Thalia snickered. "Probably." Leo smiled at the thought.

"Just... think about it? At least?" She asked and he didn't answer before she left. He looked back at the pile of ash that was his house and sighed.

Riordanverse head canons

—Percy runs up to people and just shows them pictures of fish and tells them the fishy’s name and their accent (most common accent is french for some reason)

—Leo loves Rubik’s cubes

—Thalia had an odd aversion to pine trees

—Nico calls Will “wheel” because in Italian they don’t have that soft I therefor, he has an inability to pronounce his name (more of an observation but whatever)

—the seven + Reyna and Nico have a discord server where they call for hours almost every night

—if you ask Nico for the definition of any sexuality or gender, he will give you a fucking dictionary definition that he has memorized and knows by heart

—Leo had a crush on Jason but was too scared to tell him and Jason had a crush on Leo but was scared that he wouldn’t like him back cause Leo flirts with literally every dam(n) person he meets

—CHB has their own pride parade and everyone attends no matter their sexuality or gender identity

—the iris cabin hands our skittles during pride month just because they can (Nico gets extra skittles because if his traumatic coming out story)

—Thalia has pet rats

—Leo almost exclusively reads comic books and his favorite is dog man for some reason, he also loves Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau, he also cried when the bakery was set on fire :(

—every once in a while, Nico gets Hazel a happy meal from McDonald’s and they eat it in a new spot each time

—Hazel entered an art contest and surprised herself by getting first place, Frank was so proud of her

Lost Trio/ Hunger Games Victors au

Details under the cut for y’all that wanna hear my ironic and parallel backstories and how they won [TRIGGER WARNING]:

Leo: He's from District 2 [Masonry and Weapons manufacturing] and his arena in the Hunger Games was an active volcano sight. The cornucopia was really just the ring of the volcano. He paired up with a girl called Hazel from District 12 [Mining and coal] for a little while until she was buried underground after an earthquake. Leo's shoulder was burned badly from the first eruption and he lost all hearing in his left ear. The other Tribute from District 2 was a career named Nyssa, who was stabbed in the back by Silena [District 1, Luxury].

He disassembled the mines where the Tributes start and skirted around planting them in peoples hideouts while they fought each other. He also rolled them down the side of the volcano onto the Careers pack led by Octavian, who killed the girl from his district, Gwen, less than a day into the Games. Leo blew up fifteen people and a guy called Beckendorf, who saw the trap and stayed by the bomb anyway until Leo set them all off and won The Hunger Games.

Jason [+Thalia]: He is part of the only family to have two Victors.

Thalia Grace won her games years before by leading the careers pack. Her Games became famous as the last eight Tributes were all female. This is because she and the female careers killed most of the male Tributes. The boy she came with, Luke, stepped off his platform before the Games started in protest towards the Capitol. Her arena flooded after a dam burst and she climbed a pine tree to escape. There were electric eels in the water that killed her ally, Percy [District 4]. Percy had killed a girl from District 12, Bianca, and his death left Thalia the soul survivor.

Jason is a Tribute from District 5 [power and electricity] who was dragged into the Careers pack until it fell apart a day into the Games. This was because his Arena was a desert without food or water that pushed Tributes back into the centre using electric storms and rabid animals. He allied with a boy called Frank, and Reyna, who was from his District, until she was impaled by one of the cacti that burst from the ground spontaneously. There were riots in District 5 when she died. Jason and Frank buried her in the sand. The boys were driven to caves in the dunes by a lightning storm that wiped out a lot of Tributes, including Dakota, who went made halfway through the Games.

Mutts cornered them in the cave. Frank got rabies from a bear hybrid and Jason got it from him after Frank chewed off his arm. He killed Frank and the rest of the wolf mutts. He then ripped apart three other Tributes and lost half his other arm. He was eventually knocked out by a brick thrown by Hylla, who came with Reyna. Hylla died of blood loss, as Jason had bitten her throat. He fell into a coma and was awoken as Victor four hours later.

Jason sustained permanent amnesia and remembered nothing.

Piper: Piper is from District 1 [Luxury]. She is a Career and it was rumoured that her father, who was in a position of power in the Capitol at that time, rigged the Reaping. No enquiries were made, and Piper went through to the Games.

She was part of a quarter quell.

All of the Tributes had had a sibling die in another Game.

This changed the one boy one girl rule. Piper and Drew went in together, as Silena had been attacked by a Mutt snake the year before in an arena based of the Capitol city. Before they got into the Arena, Piper allied with a boy from District 12 called Nico and Clarisse from District 2.

There was a reference to each dead sibling in the Arena, which meant random terrain, a lot unhinged animals, and freakish natural disasters. If a sibling had been killed by another Tribute, it was still worked into the Arena.

A boy called Harley was blown up by a landmine, as well as Connor. His brother Travis was dragged into a pit by a flock of birds that latched onto his feet. He didn't come back out. Castor ran through a lightning storm until he reached the Cornucopia, where Piper had set up base after Drew was dissolved in a lake of acid that Piper had pushed her into. More Tributes gathered at the Cornucopia as ally's. Nico had stabbed a blind boy called Tyson with a trident that he'd been sent into the Arena holding, and then Clarisse was taken down by a pack of mutts with rabies. She killed six of them with her bare hands until the GameMakers had to send more in and one of the mutt snakes got her in the heart.

Piper filled up everyone's water bottles with the acid.

She killed seven of them that way.

Piper slit Annabeth's throat herself, with a jagged bone sword that Annabeth had been sent up with. Her brother Malcom's bones had been torn out by Will, the victor of those games, who was sent in again for the quarter quell with a Trident matching Nico's. Will drank the acid on purpose.

Finally Nico requested to be buried in the dirt after he asked to be killed with the trident. He wanted to die like both of his sisters. There were riots in District 12 after Piper obliged. All three of the mayors children had died in the games.

Piper won her games and went to the capitol afterwards, where she had a string of fancy lovers.
