h2o so perfectly encapsulates teenage girlhood and all the good and bad that comes with it. like building the greatest friendships of your life but also losing friends you once thought were close. your parents divorcing but gaining a new parent. growing up to see the best in your parents and becoming closer to your family. getting boyfriends but knowing they come second to your girlfriends. drinking juices and shit talking and knowing you would swim to the ends of the earth for these people, because they get you in a way no one else ever will.

Some Swifties have been desperately try to seed the idea she was unhappy and locked up and overly stressed and 'unfree' and 'controled' and 'not herself' in the period she was with Joe Alwyn and I just don't see it. I've seen people come out of terribly toxic situations and look & be different almost overnight but I just don't see it. We maybe see her more and maybe she's more able to persue her career goals and maybe her new guy is giving her what she wants but her looking "unfree" and "stressed" and "not herself" didn't appear to be an issue with Joe Alwyn was around. Maybe I'm just missing a trick but I just don't see it. Maybe Taylor was playing a role well, but in my reading of the situation she never seemed unhappy in the situation until it was ending or on its last legs.

Some fans are desperate to make Joe Alwyn and the relationship something it was not and it's sad. Not every relationship which doesnt last forever needs to have a villian.

got both of these anons at the same time, clearly you guys are on the same wavelength! I agree — I'm sure there were both good and bad parts within the relationship and in other non-relationship parts of their lives over the years, and of course ultimately they weren't happy together, but I don't think we need to assume it was six years of hiding her true self and feeling stifled and miserable. personally I'd much rather take her at her word as she describes it in miss americana (that she was going through a horrible time but also she was really happy and that happiness came from falling in love and finding a quieter life)
