All in all, it’s been an alright year. Nothing spectacular, nothing horrible. More of a transitional year if anything. Things changed, I’ve changed, I’ve lost many things but I’ve also gained more than I’ve had before. So I can’t say I’m ungrateful.

I know I haven’t really been consistent with art since 2021, and for that, I apologize. I have my reasons which I’ll explain below.

Around mid 2021 I went back to in person school after being online for a year and a half due to the pandemic. Compared to online school, it took up a big chunk of my time, time I was used to spending in my art.

And well, I was getting burnt out. Almost everyday for a near year and a half I was working on drawings for Hazbin and Helluva Boss. It was practically the only hobby I had during that time and the only thing I drew. In retrospect, it wasn’t healthy, just drawing nonstop. It didn’t help I was losing interest in the fandoms either.

But over 2022 and 2023, I changed. I gained new friends, lost old ones, made mistakes, learned from those mistakes. I became healthier mentally and physically. I got into other hobbies like painting, sewing, writing, reading, etc. Hell I even got into a couple romantic relationships.

Things were simpler in 2020-2021, with my online friends and my art, but simple doesn’t always mean better.

As for this blog? I’m definitely keeping it, and I’ll try being active more. I can’t say I’ll post so much art as I used to, but Im looking forward to Hazbin’s release and getting that spark again.

This blog has a special place in my heart, all the memories and the friends I’ve made, they’re all special, even if some of them aren’t in my life anymore. Despite all the hard ships, rat mom never stopped loving you guys.

Thank you to my mutuals, my loyal rat children, my followers, for giving me so much support and love for the three years I’ve been here. I hope we can make more memories in 2024.

hii shamsi as you are my designated homestuck mutual i figured i’d tell you that i finished act 5!! and it slapped severely. HUGE fan of whatever terezi and vriska have going on, and the parts about the trolls were a lot of fun in general, i really liked the ancestor lore bits. oh and karkat was great!! i love characters who have never had a good day of their lives ever. in terms of the kids obviously jade is still the absolute love of my life, but rose fucking ruled this act. like yes girl submit yourself to the horrors!! attempt that suicide mission!! she has never done anything wrong ever. anyway i’ve told myself that i’ll wait until my exams end to start act 6 but i don’t know if i’m actually going to be able to wait that long cause they don’t finish til the end of june. and also if you don’t fancy me periodically rambling about homestuck in your inbox just let me know <3

OKAY OKAY so so so WHAT IF Jax's goal was to prevent abstractions, absolutely terrified when learning of them for the first time, SO SO WHAT IF SEE, JAX'S PURPOSE WAS TO PREVENT ABSTRACTIONS BY BEING AN ASSHOLE BECAUSE

WHAT time would you have to think about blehh exits and glitches when your MIDN is focused on JAX being an absolute jerkwad/?!?!!? HUHH!! LIKE WHAT IF Jax had keys to everyone's room to find more things to annoy them about but to also check up on them by being an asshole but also seeing if they're thinking about exits and going insane , LOOK JAX IS the HUMANITY that the characters are missing, Seeing eveyrthing as being too jolly and perfect can drive someone INSANE!! to balance this out, Jax basically is the imperfection and or the chaos to even out the perfection and ease of everything. Caine's games were not ENOUGh as we can see . Jax keeps a cool and calmheaded appearance to potentially mask something he's hiding?? NOW I do NOT know goose in any way nor glitch productions, but I can assume that making Jax the main villain all along would be TOO cheesy and a big cliche, Sure goose said we will not like some things Jax will do in the episodes but i can assure you he will NOT be the main villain, he may even be a twist like,,.. LIKE THE THEORY I STATED ABOVE!! (refer to tl;dr) idk just that Jax being the big bad is not something viewers would enjoy, right? Viewers might enjoy it more if zooble was the big bad or Pomni even!! (probably not but you get my point) And what is C&A HMM?!?!??! JAX is the chaos everyone needed in this unbalanced digital hell, Though even his distractions were not enough for the previous characters before him unfortunately, but they may have abstracted for reasons not even jax could distract them from!! Like , Kaufmo as they stated abstracted recently and when Pomni arrived maybe THAT distracted jax from distracting kaufmo into not abstracting?? oh mt gODD!! Jax is HIDING many things i can sense it, we can ALL sense it and nandndn,,,, ANYWYS ANYWAYS THANK YOU FOR READING!! HAVE A GREAT DAY!!

tl;dr: Jax prevents abstractions by distracting the gang from a potential exit and glitches in the circus by annoying them.

It takes a few hours for Buck to finally be able—allowed—to take Eddie home.

The drive isn't tense per se, but Eddie is still sour over being injured, which means he's not talking, intent on glaring at the buildings they pass by from the passenger seat.

Three fractured ribs, two bruised ones, and a hell of a bruise on his lower back. In the grand scheme of things and compared to the others, it's not too bad, but that doesn't mean he got away unscathed.

No matter what Eddie says. Well, Buck knows that Eddie knows he's hurt and in pain, but nothing short of a bullet wound will make him admit that. He's come so far when it comes to sharing his emotions, but it still takes a lot for him to ask for help driving or putting a shirt on.

He's still a proud man who doesn't want to be a burden. Buck gets it, he really does, but that doesn't mean that he likes it.

When he pulls up to Eddie's house, it's to a muttered complaint beside him. Buck ignores him, although he quickly rounds the Jeep to open Eddie's door.

"I can open my damn door, Buck," Eddie grumbles.

"Then why didn't you?"

"Can't a guy take his time?"

Buck tries his hardest not to roll his eyes. "No, because I want to get inside and take a shower to really get this dust off of me."

"Then go, I'll join you."

"In the shower?"

Eddie glares at him. "Haha, funny. Just go, man."

"Not a chance. Come on."

With less resistance than expected, he helps Eddie out of the car, and then into the house. Every pained sound that manages to escape Eddie's gritted teeth grates Buck's ears, makes him wish he could wrap Eddie in a blanket or bubble wrap so he doesn't get hurt again.

Well, if he had any say in it, he'd do that to all of his team, but right now, Eddie is the only one who is his problem. Eddie is the only one who's leaning on him as they make it to the living room, the only one Buck has to see simultaneously wince in pain and sigh in relief as he's lowered onto the couch.

"Here you go," Buck says, rubbing Eddie's shoulder, glad when Eddie lets him.

"Thanks."

"Yeah, no worries."

Reaching into his pockets, Buck hands Eddie his phone, as well as the remote on the coffee table. Eddie takes both without a word, face stuck like the grumpy cat Buck likes to compare him with mostly because it get Eddie more annoyed.

He keeps it to himself today, but he feels his chest expand with fondness all the same, especially when Eddie wastes no time texting Chris.

"Okay," Buck says, clapping his hands together. "I'm gonna go shower for real, do you need anything?"

Eddie shrugs. "Just gonna need a blanket and some water, but I'll go get—"

"Nuh-uh, no way," Buck is quick to say, hands once again pushing down Eddie's shoulder when the idiot tries to get up. "I'll do it, wait right here."

"Buck," Eddie sighs, but the fight in him is disappearing already.

"Don't move. I got this."

He does, too, running to grab pillows and blankets from the hallway closet—the same ones he uses when he's sleeping on the couch—and then pulling two water bottles out of the fridge, as well as some snacks just in case.

Eddie watches him through all of it, something soft and slightly disbelieving that makes Buck wish he still had blood covering his face.

"Okay, should be everything," he says, making sure Eddie is comfortably laid back against the pillow and that eveyrthing else is within reach.

"Buck," Eddie says. He rolls his eyes, but he doesn't sound annoyed for the first time today. "Unless your shower takes a whole day, I'm gonna be fine."

"What if I need to take a day long shower?"

"Then you'll have some bills to pay."

"You know, you're so generous with your guests, Eddie, it's a wonder you don't have more of those."

"Oh my god, go away," Eddie says, and it's not really what it sounds like.

Buck takes a step back with a mock salute before heading towards the bathroom, only to stop where the living room meets the hallway. He claps the doorframe, turns to Eddie.

"I'll be right back."

Through the pain, Eddie's smile is genuine. "I know. You always are."

I haven’t gotten into it on this blog, but I’ve been super into The Lunar Chronicles since September 2022. Anyway, below are my late night ramblings that nobody cares about on why Angel with a Shotgun is Jacin Clay’s song. I’m making this list at 1:45 in the morning while I’m supposed to be packing for a trip, so this isn’t gonna be neatly organized or coherent lol.

Spoilers below for Cress and Winter btw

Alright, so we’re properly introduced to Jacin during Cress. He’s made a couple cameos in Cinder iirc (at least one) but it’s during the third book we finally learn his name, personality etc.

A crucial part of his character is of course, his Princess Winter, aka childhood best friend/crush. Typically around others he’s serious, sarcastic, cold. But with her it’s like….I mean look he keeps his face and mind blank around others as a place guard of Queen Levana’s would but whenever it comes to Winter it’s just….his face visibly changes ok this doesn’t make much sense now that I’m reading it but onwards.

Onto the analysis of Angel with a Shotgun and how it relates to Jacin Clay

““And they say before you start a war, you better know what you’re fighting for. Well baby you are all that I adore, if love is what you need a soldier I will be.” -He stays as a puppet of Levana so he could stay and protect Winter the best he can, he doesn’t want to leave her alone. He knows Levana despises Winter and would take any chance to hurt her/kill her (as shown when she inflicted her scars and when she gave her letumosis.) -”I’ll throw away my faith babe just to keep you safe, don’t you know you’re eveyrthing I have.” -He’s not loyal to Levana whatsoever (“I serve my princess, no one else.”)he’s loyal only to Princess Winter. He risked their lives and kills Ryu in order to fake her death and help her escape. -”“Sometimes to win, you have to sin.” As I said above, betrayed Rampion crew and killed Ryu for Winter.

-”“And I wanna live not just survive.”

He wants to be a fuckingh doctor ok he doesn’t wanna be a palace guard he wants to be a doctor. He wants to live.

Anyway, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk, I love Jacin Clay and this essay isn’t structured properly but I stand by every word goodnight.

Oh dear, I've finally caught up on your posts! I'm sure you're ready to jump off the John Silver dialog train, I promise I am not here to defend him. I'm sorry the end turned out to be such a difficult time for you, I worried how you'd take it knowing your strong feelings. I personally love an ambiguous ending that leaves room for interpretation, and I love messy characters, but it's not for everyone.

But there is something I'd really like to add that I think is important when considering character preferences - I think when most people say they like a character, this very rarely means they approve of or condone or support or even like that character as a person. Or that they think the character is GOOD. For me, it means I like the CHARACTER. I'm interested in / invested in / fascinated by them.

Ie, when I say "Snape is my favorite character in Harry Potter" I completely recognize what a horrible toxic person he is. I don't like him as a person. I don't excuse or condone any of his awful abusive behavior, I don't think he's a "hero" or that it was all for true love (a young love that turned into bitter obsession, maybe). He's as dark gray as they come. He isn't my favorite because I think he is redeemed (despite his sacrifice playing a pivotal role in defeating evil, I don't think he is redeemed), he is my favorite character because he makes me THINK and FEEL the most. About mistakes, about redemption, about abuse, about paths not taken, about atonement, about it being too late to change.

John Silver is not my favorite character (Flint stan for life) but I hope you can understand how, I think for a lot of us who like Silver as a character, it doesn't mean we agree with him, think he's a good person, or condone his behavior.

What he ultimately did was unforgivable to me, but his character has stuck with me very strongly since my first watch. Because like with Snape (and Eleanor too, actually) I THINK and FEEL the most about him, and that's the messy crunchiness I love in fictional characters - his self preservation, his relationship with Flint, with Madi, what it meant to both of them, him understanding the power of likability, why he did the things he did, his betrayal, what his past might have been to inform such decisions, Flint's curse upon him that follows him the rest of his life, the final story he tells to Madi, everything. The horror of his choices in not only ruining it all for Flint and Madi but ultimately for himself as well. The tragic inevitability of it all.

At the end of the day, a preference is a preference and stories speak to us all differently and that's one of my favorite things about Black Sails. Thank you for taking the time to share all your thoughts so honestly!

Ok first of all - Thank you for this ask. Does it come off at all how honored I feel that people are writing me these heartfelt explanations and essays about their feelings for the show? Me? The most ranty ravy anti-silver person here? I hope it does.

Second - and I go on and off worrying about this - I think you and the other long essay I got makes me think that I'm crossing a line I don't want to cross, in terms of making people who don't hate John Silver in an unalloyed way like I do feel attacked by me, for not sharing my feelings. That's not what I want but I often have that effect, because there's a bite to how I put things and I speak in conclusions. If the abrasive prickliness swiped you as you were going about your tumblr business, I do apologize. Genuinely.

It might surprise you but Snape is also my favorite Harry Potter character, for the exact reasons you say. I don't think he was redeemed either, and he fascinates me anyway, and I go between shaking my head at the abuse he meted out on the younger generation and feeling sad for him for his loneliness and eveyrthing in between. I like thinking about Snape. I understand people who like thinking about Silver in the same way. I just can't, is all. Very personally specific to me - who I am, my life experiences, right down to how I got introduced to the show.

Also - because this show is excellent, and presents all the people in the show in a fully realized fashion, none of them could actually pass muster if I apply the level of hate infused scrutiny I'm giving Silver. Any one of them could be pilloried at any time. Eleanor is HIGHLY problematic. So is Vane, actually. Miranda too, and Thomas, even! (No cow too sacred!) And Billy! And Flint! (I can go OFF about Flint's flaws and errors and may well do so soon!) But I mourn their mistakes and their flaws, and they help me look at myself and those around me with consideration, a useful fictional distance, to come to a better understanding of myself and others.

Silver was designed to specifically set ME off in particular, and I respect everyone else who doesn't feel so absolute about him. As I've been saying - but it's not coming through - I'm sad and annoyed that I'm so intensely allergic, because the people who can turn Silver over in their minds and play with him as a character in the fandom are bringing a lot of creativity and beauty and energy into it, all things I love about fandom, and I am missing out.

I'm still off loading all my thoughts on Silver, so I welcome any and all input people want to give me about him. Just today I was thinking... OK but WHY this much hatred? And it has to do with what happened with my former friend who got me into this show, which I think brings that added bite that people are feeling in my anti-silver posts. I will probably spend today working through that and making a post about it, because that's how I deal with deep hurts - by writing it out.
