Who had their gay Sexual Awakening watching the music video for Summer Son by Texas??? Where's my people at? It was released in 1999. I was ten years old, I literally kept re-watching the music video in secret and being so confused why I liked watching Sharleen Spiteri writhe around on the bed so much.

It always blows my mind how mokmoklen is able to make us mourn for a character we will never know.
Hikaru is presented as this guy who brings happiness to others. He was popular among classmates and girls , he was selfless and caring , he took care of Yoshiki when his parents fought and even in his final moments he thought about Yoshiki’s happiness instead of his own salvation.
But he was also a liar , he sometimes manipulated others to get his way out of things , and this makes you realize just how much we don’t know of the real Hikaru and how it’s actually okay if it stays like that.
We will never know him apart from Yoshiki’s idolized version of him , or from how “Hikaru” decides to portray the individual that he now occupies the body of.
Even the higher ups in the village were more preoccupied about the ritual getting carried out than actually wondering what might’ve happened to the Hikaru that they presume is still alive.
It’s as if Hikaru has been objectified to a point by the people in the story that what we end up knowing is the perception others have of him , rather than him as an individual and I feel like this makes this sense of longing and grief deepen to an even greater extent
PS: it makes it even sadder to me because it solidifies this idea that he truly was just an ends to a mean. As soon as he was born his duty was to carry out the ritual , it actually didn’t matter what he thought about it and people cares even less about that.
