But what about the cure when the situation has reached al-manzilah (ie: this level)? ولكن كيف الدواء وقد وصلت الحال إلى هذه المنزلة The cure is that firstly, he remembers that love for Allah, The Most High, comes before everything else and he turns his heart to loving Allah. الدواء أن يذكر أولاً أن محبة الله تعالى فوق كل شيء ويصرف قلبه لمحبة الله And from the things which strengthen the love for Allah in the heart of the servant is continually remembering Allah, ومما يقوي محبة الله في قلب العبد دوام ذكر الله reciting (or reading) the Qurʾān a lot, وكثرة قراءة القرآن doing lots of al-aʿmāl al-ṣāliḥah (ie: good deeds), وكثرة الأعمال الصالحة and staying away from shahwāt al-nafs wa hawá al-nafs (ie: the cravings and desires of the soul). والإعراض عن شهوات النفس وهوى النفس Secondly, that he stays away somewhat from the one whom love for him in his heart reached such a level. He stays away from him somewhat and occupies himself with something else. ثانياً أن يبتعد بعض الشيء عن هذا الذي وقع في قلبه محبته إلى هذه المنزلة يبتعد عنه بعض الشيء ويتلهى بأمرٍ آخر If that does not help, then he stays away from him. فإن لم ينفع فليجتنبه Lastly, he cuts ties with him until this love calms down, this enthusiasm (of emotion) is removed and becomes tranquil, نهائياً يقطع الصلة بينه وبينه حتى يهدأ هذا الحب وتزول هذه الحرارة وتسكن and then his love returns to the normal love. ثم يعود إلى محبته المحبة العادية Because of numerous complaints about this, I wanted to bring attention to not letting love for the sake of Allah increase so that it turns into loving (someone ) along with Allah because this is a type of shirk in love. ومن أجل كثرة الشكوى من هذا أحببت أن أنبه عليه أن لا تكون المحبة في الله ترتقي إلى أن تكون محبةً مع الله لأن هذا نوعٌ من الشرك في المحبة. The sufīs hate ibn ‘abdulwahāb. They claim ‘he made takfīr of the muslims’ you know why? Because they direct worship to other than Allāh. they make du’ā, isti’āna, istigātha, isti’ādha and whatnot to other than Al-wāhid. they give Allāh’s rights to other than Him and so they find it strange when they hear whoever does those acts is a mushrīk!

It’s so sad how the laymen are upon misguidance because of ignorance. May Allāh guide and make the truth clear to them. May Allāh make us sincere.
