#tloz#ocarina of time#oot#zelda#my handwriting is very very bad so i actually added alt text/image description#which i should already be doing with everything anyway. i wanna go thru and update some old stuff with that too#but yeah anyway. all the stuff this series presents about being Fated To Be Something or Fated To End Up Somewhere#even if that thing or place is ultimately Horrible and the consequences primarily occur off camera or post-canon after the Happy Ending#characters who end the story with pretty much nothing and also you find out later they inadvertently cause a far worse disaster#than even the one they gave up everything to prevent#oot zelda’s infinite number of issues and almost guaranteed lack of happiness or normality for the rest of her life#even after ‘fixing everything’ in literally the best possible way she could figure out how. given everything she knew#and then blaming herself for accidentally allowing everything to go wrong in the first place. by trying to fix it#and she was literally just a kid going insane from prophetic visions while simultaneously being disbelieved by everyone around her#except impa but she’s a whole other situation entirely. with a whole other set of baggage on the other end of the spectrum#i just rambled sos so much oops. anyway yea oot zelda#its fine. i throw up when i think about her. its fine

not gonna put this on the post itself bc that feels rude and i think this is maybe an unpopular opinion but actually i don’t feel like maddie’s ending was bad or wrong in any way! it felt like a happy ending for her, whether or not it was considered a happy ending for the audience.
the thing is, is maddie is the middle ground. she cares about felice and her feelings, and she agrees with some of felice’s criticisms about the school (verbally or through her actions), but she never truly goes all the way. she reassures stella and fredrika that if the school was going to close because of what felice said, it would have already, but she doesn’t reassure felice that she was allowed to say whatever she needed to say. in a lot of the conflicts between felice and stella and fredrika, maddie is a silent bystander or a mediator. she is just as hard for felice to be honest with as stella and fredrika. she doesn’t take a side. stella and fredrika want everything to remain as it was—they want to uphold the status quo and keep their traditions. felice sees the problems with this, and tells the truth, which brings the whole thing down. maddie sees the problems, but doesn’t actually seem to care about changing them in a significant way. and that’s why she doesn’t get to get her “happy ending” at the end of the season (although again i do think she was happy with her ending! this was happy for her!).
i love maddie! a lot! i think she’s certainly more likeable than stella and fredrika and much less classist. i would have liked to see her get more screen time, and if she had, that might have changed my position on her ending, but as it is, i think it feels like the right choice for her and her character. with the open-endedness, i think she and felice will remain friends in the future, and things might happen that we don’t get to see, but that doesn’t need to be shown on screen.
#ive been seeing that post go around a lot#and there’s nothing wrong with it!#i can see why people might be dissatisfied with her ending#but it made a lot of sense to me#she’s a good friend to felice! she genuinely cares about her!#but i cant see a better way to end her part of the story with the version we got#i’m sure felice texts her later and says she isn’t coming and im sure they’re still friends but that’s for us to decide on our own#we didn’t need to see it in the show#young royals#yr#yr s3 spoilers#madison mccoy#maddie yr

ive always wanted to make this post so. here
this is a boy who never says how he feels. he just pinches and hugs instead. (mostly featuring ruka and mikan)

Ohh okay it's just a theory. Thank god. The thought of "him dying prompted the continent to lift" straight up didn't even occur to me. I 100% assumed the implication was that it started happening as soon as the dungeon was destroyed, it just took a few days to reach the surface (and a few days more after that to fully re-emerge, as is stated in canon)
#asks#im gonna look like an idiot if ryoko kui confirms hes dead but i. genuinely dont think she would#not after the work she put in to establish mithrun's character arc#having been a dungeon master and getting your identity devoured shouldn't be a death sentence. like#the text comes out and says that.#it says that having people who love you to fill the void helps you move past it#and thistle DOES have people looking out for him. hell even strangers he tried to kill want him to live and be safe#dungeon meshi doesnt kill characters without a really good reason. and there is no reason thistle needs to die.#it adds nothing to the text. hell it even takes AWAY from what the story has built.#and isnt the joke with yaad like#they expect him to wither away but it looks like???? hes going to get to live out the rest of this body's life as if time had stopped??#all the kingdom people too#so why should only thistle be dead for a crime everyone WANTS to forgive#is eager to forgive#wants him to be cognizant enough so that he can recognize he is being forgiven

darkly funny to me that lloyd “father issues” garmadon is the one who introduced jay to starfarer
#text✨#ninjago#having fic ideas….#i am a comic collector (bad hobby to pick up but very fun and intoxicating). have a story idea of jay and lloyd working together to#collect all of the OG starfarer run and they never fully do (are Children) (older comics are expensive) (starfarer as fictional x-men and#the OG run starting with the equivalent of giant-size x-men no.1 that is STUPID expensive and one of the most valuable comics ever)#and then years later after they’ve both had to grow up more. years later during like. the year long gap or smthn they jokingly start doing#it again. half their original collection is lost or damaged from various times they had to move or the bounty was destroyed but they have#a good start. lloyd’s finding other comic shops in ninjago city while jay finds them occasionally out in the smaller cities#and they find The issue. the big one. when jay remembers that itty little tidbit about the other person in his life that cared about starfar#yeah that’s right obligatory reveal angst baby. i am nothing if not consistent >:]

There is no reading of a text that is so boring as the overtechnical sort that leads to completely serious conclusions like, "Morgoth created rot and decay and hobbits love mushrooms, so hobbits ought to be dedicated to Morgoth." Like I hated reading comprehension tests in school same as everyone but some people really needed more.
DISCUSSION QUESTIONS:
Based on the author and characters' attitude towards what he describes as "rot and decay" and the author and characters' attitude towards mushrooms, do you think they classify mushrooms under the broader category of "rot and decay?" Why or why not?
(Research question) Mycology (the study of mushrooms) was considered a branch of botany until 1969. When was the book published? When was the author in school? When did he die?
Based on your answers to the previous two questions, do you believe that, in the fictional universe the story is set in, Morgoth is responsible for the existence of mushrooms?

the nature of being a johnny lawrence fan, is that it is often indistinguishable from being a johnny lawrence hater, and I don't think I have that with any other character. usually I'm very protective of my faves (including in cobra kai, daniel, sam, kreese, and tsilver), but johnny, I very much enjoy reading all the reasons people dislike his character, nodding along like "yeah what an inconsistent mess, you're so right, carmen pls u deserve better narrative to work with, terry silver was telling the truth when he mocked his fatherhood abilities, but alas the writing will never support it"
#johnny lawrence fans 🤝 johnny lawrence haters -- wtf is going on with johnny lawrence's character in s5????????#johnny lawrence#cobra kai#ck#i can write miles of text about the queercoding of johnny lawrence#and also about how terribly inconsistent the writing for him is due to a sexist notion that he must be a Badass#actually i think johnny lawrence is one of the most interesting case studies of this phenomenon#obvs most famously archetyped by dean winchester -- but i think jlaw is even More That#1. literal 80s character so all these people read him through a particular nostalgia lens#2. in a show that is possibly Thee most trope-filled nostalgia show i have ever seen be that way Accidentally#(riverdale was doing it on purpose -- stranger things... yeah maybe but i think cobra kai is even more on the nose actually)#3. played by quite a sensitive actor actually who deeply cares about the nuance of the character#which appears to be at constant war with the intentions of the narrative he has to appear in#4. and like. the writers Know about the queercoding because they've interacted with fans (nicely actually)#but they have literally no idea what to do with it but ALSO have lampshaded it occasionally#it's... it's fascinating....#they want so badly for him to win but they're going about it the wrong way -- the narrative continues to be circular/an inward spiral#nothing has changed except for the reactions of other characters#jlaw must remain static because of our nostalgia but also be important to the story somehow#the Tension of it all is personally delicious to me but man is it frustrating as well
