I saw this theory on reddit and it completely blew my mind. It also makes me happy to think about Kris actually kinda liking the player and work as a team, ngl. Makes my heart cozzy

I think an often overlooked aspect of secret boss criteria is the fact that they at one point tried to go against their given fate in the world.
Spamton was at the beginning just a spam email which apart from often being ignored, also often fail at scamming majority of people since most people know how to spot scammy emails. Spamtons desire to be a big shot is an attempt to go against this predetermined fate that ultimately failed.
Jevil was just a jokers card which in most games of cards is not used in a typical game. While a weaker case than spamton, jevil did want to be free so that he could play with others in his own sadistic way which you could say is analogous to wanting to be part of the game of cards which his role as a joker did not allow.
Going against fate or the uselessness of going against fate is a theme present deltarune, such as how Toby said Deltarune would only have one ending regardless of the choices you make. The entire point of the game is that the fun gang are fulfilling the prophecy. The narrative is drilling in our heads that our choices don’t matter which is a theme I think will carry on to the secret bosses.

Recently I've been thinking the Knight might not be so malevolent a force as we think. Each Dark World reflects the will of its fountain, which presumably follows that of the creator. And yet every Dark World seems almost perfectly designed to help the lightners work through their issues and come out changed. The unused classroom helped Susie learn to let down the cold armor of aggression and intimidation she uses and open up to people a little more. The computer lab helped Noelle try to reconnect with Kris, learn to stand up to her mother, and start to talk to Susie. Also she overcame her fear of mice.
If the Knight really wanted to end the world, they could just... do it. They could create a dark fountain, leave the dark world, and then create another one. Heck, they don't even have to leave the dark world, apparently! They can just stab the ground twice! I feel like they have some other goal in mind.
This does also lend credence to the "Papyrus is the Knight" theory, if you want.

old meme theory i made a while ago. i dont agree with rouxls being the first knight anymore (bc i think the knight has to be a lightner) but i still think that theres gonna be a different knight for each chapter/dark fountain and that kris only learned they could make a fountain after seeing berdly attempt to make one. i also still think berdly opened the second fountain bc he was already in the room, and how would he have already known how to open one at the end of chapter two?? he wasnt there when queen told the knights story with the hologram stuff about how the knight specifically "coursed its will into its blade and stabbed the earth" yet this is what berdly repeats when he tries to open a fountain at the end, and we dont see him watch the video of the second fountain being opened. i dont think hes some kind of evil mastermind, maybe he was tricked, or opened it by accident and only realized what he did when he woke up in the cyber world. honestly it seems like berdly acts like he got sucked into a video game and thinks hes the protagonist, which makes me think what if he was playing computer games instead of studying and rage quit and somehow accidentally stabbed the ground and made a fountain?? idk - anyone feel free to add to this theory.

Deltarune Thoughts - Chapter 5 and the Roaring Knight
So, if you're any amount into major Deltarune theorization, you probably know about the chess theory. The chess theory states that the antagonist of each chapter of Deltarune corresponds with a chess piece, in descending order of power - Chapter 1 begins with the King, Chapter 2 with the Queen, and so on. I personally believe this theory to hold some weight, considering various things. The Spade King and Queen definitely match the movement style of a King and Queen in Chess, there's importance to the theme of Pawns in Deltarune, the Knight is a whole thing - so on and so forth. It seems like a strong and intentional guideline for future chapters.
Now, here's something I realized. I recently read @vgfm's wonderful, well thought-out, long-ass theory on Father Alvin and the Roaring Knight. I implore you to take the time to read enough to at least get the gist of it - it's their pinned post, and quite the read. Ever since Chess Theory was first formed, there's been a looming question with no apparent answer - why would the Knight be Chapter 5's focus? Why not Chapter 7? The Knight seems to be the primary antagonist of Deltarune, shrouded in mystery - and, by their "Roaring" title, it seems their appearance would be associated with more...finality, to say the least.
Here's what I think. As you may know from reading through, or not - VGFM's theory states that Father Alvin is the Knight, trying to live up to his father - Gerson Boom's - image. They state their points much better than I could recap them here for you, so I implore you, again, read this theory. There have been several fun theories for Knight candidates, several very possible ones, but none hold a light to how much sense this one would make. It really feels like the missing piece.
My point here is that, with VGFM's theory, we have our answer. Chapter 4, the antecedent to the reveal of the Roaring Knight - aligns with the Bishop. This would imply that Chapter 4 will likely have religious theming, which would make sense - Father Alvin speaks to Kris about coming to church, Rudy mentions it, and (for reasons I frankly can't exactly remember) it would appear Chapter 4 would take place on a Sunday. With our Knight theory, Chapter 5 begins to make more sense.
This is what I see happening next:
In Chapter 3, who knows what the hell happens. From what we can see now, this isn't exactly relevant to our theory here - or we at least don't know how it will be yet. Correct me if I'm wrong.
In Chapter 4, our Dark World will likely be in Father Alvin's church. We get to the end of the chapter and have some sort of encounter with Alvin. Whether we fight him or otherwise, we reveal his true identity as the Knight.
In Chapter 5, the mystery of the Roaring Knight reaches it climax. I don't know what will happen, but it will likely directly follow the events of Chapter 4. A possible scenario could be Alvin causing the Roaring.
All of this information has been subtly, quietly laid out to us by Toby. This was all here, in the game, for us to figure out. It seems he's still keeping some secrets though, because now? We really don't know what Chapters 6 and 7 will hold. Chapter 6, according to the Chess Theory, will have the Pawn as the main antagonist. This will likely focus on Kris, but for now, who's to say? Especially on Chapter 7, which we know even less about. There's still a lot to figure out, but I really think we're getting some solid ground here. Tell me what you think.

One thing I am not looking forward to in Chapter 3, and that is Susie's reaction to finding out that Kris is Chapter 3's Knight. Because we've seen Spade King's and Queen's devotion to their Knight(s). I would imagine Tenna's (or whoever is the ruler in TV Land) reaction to the Knight will be much the same. And we've seen the Shadow Crystal that shows Susie looking at Kris coldly.
Will this destroy their friendship now that it's just beginning?
