NEW PET AVENGERS BOOK (ok it’s not called pet avengers but just look at it)
Team stalwarts Throg and Lockjaw return, naturally. Redwing is on the team, like in the original Pet Avengers (which isn’t technically canon to 616, but elements of it, such as Throg’s whole existence, have been incorporated into 616 continuity without explanation.) Bats is on the team, as he was from that one splash page from a Thor issue that led to an entirely off-panel adventure.
Lucky and Chewie are natural choices, and will probably have a character dynamic similar to Hairball and Ms. Lion from the aforementioned original Pet Avengers comics.
The absence of Jeff the Land Shark may seem like a snub, but honestly, he wouldn’t add anything to the character dynamic because you can’t really give him a personality beyond “cute mischievous friendly animal.”
Also, it’s the debut of a new character known as D-Dog, who I assume has super-strength (because it would be weird to have two non-powered dogs on the team) and wears D-Man’s mask.

AU where Throg turns back into a human but continues wielding his frog-sized hammer
Like, he’ll look ridiculous twirling it around on one finger, and keeping it as a keychain when not in use, but it’ll still pack a significant punch

Professor toad
Erik: Get this. Puddlegulp really DOES know Thor
Toad: That explains so fucking much.
Magik: but the best part is that we can keep our mascot!
Toad: is that official?
Toad: Why I can't I ever meet Thor? (It would probably be under very bad circumstances, Toad, you know that.)

Since Throg used to be black back when he was human, is he an example of the “black superhero has lightning powers” cliché?
