Pound candied lemon and orange peels* in a mortar and pestle or process in spice/burr grinder to a medium-fine grain, then mix w caster sugar, set on a dish or board, and and rim coupe partially.
Rise coupe w 1 dropperful abinsthe verte
In a shaker with one large cube and one cracked cube,
1 oz or 30 ml Żubrówka Bison Grass Vodka
1 oz or 30 ml lemon juice
1 oz or 30 ml Cocchi Americano Bianco or Kina L'Aéro d'Or
1/2 oz or 30ml Dry Curaçao [Pierre Ferrand or Grand Marnier, preferably]
1/2 oz or 15 ml Becherovka or Jaegermeister
The quote was selected, as inspired by the notation in the earliest written record of this drink, Henry Craddock’s The Savoy Cocktail Book: “Four of these taken in swift succession will un-revive the corpse again.”
Based on Varian's relationship with the Sundrop, all coming back to the grief that drove him such desperation to undo what has been done; and he was determined to try something a lot stronger than this drink to revive that corpse. Varian’s alchemical work obviously would involve making infusions, tinctures, and distillates, so from simple macerations to complex herbal notes we explore flavors, subbing Polish Żubrówka for the gin, keeping the quininized Cocchi, and splitting the orange liqueur with a Kräuterlikör**. The darker spice and herbs and absinthe rinse evoke his deteriorating, dark mood as he seeks the Secrets of the Sundrop in his grieving, angry quest. But unlike our previous Sundrop drinks, there is no nectar, no water of life, within this libation.
A stern drink, stiff yet so easy to drink in confidence. Time to step to the bar, or to stand down, stay far, are you ready?
As I’ll ever be.
*discussion in my Sundrop Punch recipe, powdering the leftover peels adds a really interesting note and cuts down on food waste.
**Essentially a term for herbal, sometimes bitter, sweetened liqueurs from German and can also refer to other Central European liqueurs of that nature. Compare to Amaro from Italy, or Suze from France. Like Amaro, they can be used as aperitivo or digestif when sipped neat.

hi magz! I was wondering if you have any resources for free aac programs for android devices? even just an apk download would be fine, but my speech has been getting worse and worse due to seizures/neurological activity and I feel the need to be prepared. thank you so much (for everything you do!)
would recommend have more than 1 of try in case.

E-8 Au Stuff P1
Au ranting time for @g4v1nsgun ✨✨✨ (sorry i took a a while)
Also credits to @guardianofzing for one of the images i use here and credits to however else made the others cuz idk
So everyone knows both of these groups right, rotbtd and the futuristic four
Yeah we all know them
To my complete surprise there is little to no content with all eight of them, which is crazy cuz this being a crossover fandom i assumed people would go nuts for a team up
So i decided to do it myself, and i introduce them as: The Elite Eight (ft a mediocre edit)
The team dynamics would work the same way they would as in their regular settings, i.e.:
Hiccup and Penny are the voices of reason, Merida and Wilbur are the thrill seekers etc etc
Only difference is now that the group is basically 4 freshmen and 4 juniors we have the classic Mentor and Student dynamic
As for the world building, to sum it up rq. It’s a modern/futuristic with magic universe combining brave, tangled/tts, bh6, bolt, mtr, the incredibles(1-2) and elements of rotg and httyd (specifically race to the edge)
Things like dragons, wisps, and magic all exist, but in a percy jackson type fashion. Only specific people can see these things ykwim
The movies are all canon (not rotg, for reasons to be elaborated on later) but with a modern twist, to be explained below:
How To Train Your Dragon - 3 years pre-canon
Meet The Robinsons, Bolt - 2 years pre-canon
Big Hero Six - 1 year pre-canon
Brave, Tangled, Rise Of The Guardians - in the story
As for ROTG, the whole “guardians of childhood” thing isn’t in this au because i couldn’t make it work. So for a modern retelling of that, tldr Jack is basically a teen in the foster system with major amnesia. The guardians are as they were but they’re not “guardians”, more like Jacks new foster family that also happen to be a bunch of magical creatures and myths.
The guardians and their house are basically a fusion of professor xaviors mansion/school for mutants(X-Men), the house in The Grimm Sisters, the treehouse in The Last Kids On Earth and the camp in Percy Jackson.
As for the superhero aspect, Violet and Hiro are gonna get the Peter Parker treatment. They’re hiding things from everyone else, which is crazy because everyone in the group is hiding something and i think that’s super funny

Do you have Free Will?
Pure speculation, but if we take the fan theory that there are actually multiple cucuruchos, all of which are former (or current!) islanders, and the cucurucho appearance is due to a suit rather than their actual features — likely with some kind of speaker/externalised TTS (or even STS/voice changer) system to ensure anonymity and dehumanisation — could it be possible that whenever cucurucho says things like “classified” or “I hope you enjoy the island” or even the classic “hahaha” those are pre-established phrases that hide or “speak over” what the person inside is actually saying.
For instance, thinking of how Tubbo was able to get the most answers out of cucurucho than anyone else, but asking directly about “why was I frozen in ice” was “classified” and “who has the authority to override that classification” was also “classified.”
Could it be that cucurucho did actually answer him, but all Tubbo could hear was the Federation’s suppressed response through a filter — or alternatively the cucurucho only has access to a soundboard through which to speak, hence the need for books to communicate more complex answers (answers that are importantly not policed by anyone but cucurucho, a way of communicating outside the federation’s control) — and that the federation has invested considerable time and energy in removing anything individual or independent about their favourite messengers that could possibly endanger the status quo?

Kpop Reddit seems to hate IVE's new EP? Wild. It's so much better than their debut album! I Am and Kitsch may be stronger tracks than Baddie and other tts, but overall I'VE MINE is a much more satisfying album to me. I actually only didn't really like Holy Moly and everyone was calling it the best song. Of the bsides, I liked OTT the most. I think it's a super solid EP. Every song stands out and it's a lot more diverse and colorful than I'VE IVE.
My personal ranking of the songs:
Off the Record - really love this song, especially the beginning. I wish they'd done more with the classical sample.
Baddie - it's actually pretty catchy, but obviously nowhere near the level of their previous tts. It's more comparable to Kitsch. The chorus is the highlight. It really needed a proper bridge though.
Either Way - I like the song quite a bit, but it's missing something. Liz sings the last pre-chorus the same way as the second and it's too soft and ruins the buildup..
OTT - it's a solid bside, but it lacks a bridge, as always.
Payback - it's pretty comparable to OTT. It's bright and sweet, so it's an easy listen.
Holy Moly - I don't like the beginning of the song. The song is original and the instrumental stands out, but the execution isn't the best? I think it's a grower anyway. I already like it more than the first time I listened to it.

2023 Revival to host first ever all-synthetic fuel race at Goodwood as full schedule confirmed
In what is already a seminal year for motorsport at Goodwood as we celebrate 75 years of the Motor Circuit, 30 years of the Festival of Speed and 25 years of the Revival, we are delighted to announce that this year’s Revival will host an all-synthetic fuel race - the first of its kind.
Taking place over the weekend, the Fordwater Trophy will see a grid of 30 pre-66 Porsche 911s take to the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit - for the first ever all-synthetic fuel race in its 75-year history.
The Revival race list is completed by a further 14 races for everything from pre-war Grand Prix cars to sportscars of the early 1960s; the races join the previously-announced Carroll Shelby Centenary and 75 years of Lotus celebrations.
Fordwater Trophy - Porsche 911s
Continuing our celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the legendary Porsche 911 from the 80th Members’ Meeting, Revival will see a race for 30 of the racing classics. New for this year, each car will run wholly on synthetic fuel as we see a spectacular on-track battle for the trophy.
Rudge Whitworth Cup - Celebrating the centenary of Le Mans 24 Hours
New for 2023, the Rudge Whitworth Cup will pay homage to the Le Mans 24 Hours, which celebrates its centenary in 2023. With a grid full of Bentleys, Alfa Romeos, Bugattis and more from the world’s greatest test of endurance, this two-driver race will feature sportscars from the very first years of Le Mans.
Freddie March Memorial Trophy - The Goodwood Nine Hour Icons!
The Freddie March Memorial Trophy has been a mainstay of the Goodwood Revival for many years with its mixture of stunning sports cars from the days of the Goodwood Nine Hours. As 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the 1953 event, the Freddie March Memorial Trophy will run as our two-driver sunset race on Friday evening. Expect to see the likes of the mighty Jaguar C-Type, Aston Martin DB3S, Jaguar XK120, Frazer Nash and Austin Healey go head-to-head.
Goodwood Trophy - Grand Prix and Voiturette cars from the 30s and 40s
A firm-favourite amongst spectators, the Goodwood Trophy will host an impressive collection of Grand Prix and Voiturette cars from the 1930s and 40s. The Revival’s oldest race will again see the cars that raced at Goodwood when the Circuit first opened do battle on the track. Expect to see cars from ERA, Maserati, Alta and many more.
Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy - Grand Prix motorcycles from the 1960s
Probably the most nail biting of all the races at Revival, the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy will host a battle of 1960s Grand Prix motorcycles. Expect riding legends from the world of British Superbikes, MotoGP and the Isle of Man TT to race in this pair of two-rider tussles.
St Mary's Trophy - Saloon 1950s cars
Bringing the touring car battle to the Revival, the St Mary’s Trophy will host everything from Austin A40s to Jaguar MkIs and Alfa Romeo Giuliettas. Similar to the Barry Sheene Memorial Trophy, the St. Mary’s Trophy switches decade each year, meaning that in 2023 it will be a collection of 1950s saloon cars taking the track by storm.
Glover Trophy - 1.5-litre Grand Prix cars from 1961-1965
The Revival’s most up-to-date Formula 1 race must be one of the most anticipated tests of the historic motorsport season. Today, the Glover Trophy celebrates legendary racers including Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark and Graham Hill, with the kinds of cars they raced at the time: Lotus 25, BRM P261, Ferrari 1512.
Lavant Cup - Ferrari GTs of 1960-1966
Paying homage to 60 years since Graham Hill won the RAC TT at Goodwood behind the wheel of a Ferrari 250 GTO, the Lavant Cup will welcome an entire grid of 1960s Ferrari GTs to the 2023 race schedule. Expect eye-wateringly beautiful GTOs to go up against the likes of 250 SWBs and 250 LMs in what may very well be the last time some of these cars race competitively.
Chichester Cup - Formula Junior cars from 1960-1963
These tiny, yet agile racing machines will put on a magnificent battle as the likes of Lotus and Cooper go head to head. Formula Junior cars play an important part in motorsport history - the cars on track will mimic those driven by the racing stars of the 1960s and 1970s.
Richmond & Gordon Trophies - 2.5-litre Grand Prix cars from 1952-1960
A race from the era that changed Formula 1 forever and the larger-engined Grand Prix cars of the later 1950s. This was the period where front-engined and rear-engined cars shared a grid, as Cooper’s backward innovation began to change the face of single-seater racing forever. The Richmond & Gordon Trophies will feature both front and rear-engined Formula 1 cars as they battle much like they did back in the 20th century.
RAC TT Celebration - closed-cockpit GT and prototype cars from 1960 to 1964
Celebrating the period where flagship RAC TT racing was held at Goodwood, the RAC TT Celebration is at the very centre of historic motorsport for Goodwood. Heading into battle will be lightweight Jaguar E-Types, Cobras, Corvette Sting Rays, Porsche 904s, and more alongside a host of VIP stars.
Whitsun Trophy - Sports-prototypes from 1960-1966
The fastest race of the Goodwood Revival weekend returns again with a mixture of Can-Am cars, Ford GT40s and other big-engined racers from the end of Goodwood’s active period. Together they look - and sound - incredible as they dice on the sweeping confines of the Goodwood Motor Circuit.
Sussex Trophy - World Championship sports cars from 1955-1960
Filled with the likes of the beautiful Ferrari 246S Dino, Lister Knobblys and Lotus 15s, the Sussex Trophy never fails to entertain, with recent races going right down to the drag out of the Chicane to decide the winner. As the sun begins to set on the Revival’s weekend these beauties of sports car racing’s early heyday will keep everyone from leaving early heyday will keep everyone from leaving early, making it the perfect curtain closer on a brilliant three days of motorsport.

Sugar - Secret (Single) and Sweet Lips (album)
Honestly they started off really well! Secret was nice, and the first three songs on the album were great, and then Sweet Day brought it all down and it never really went back up. Man of Man was definitely the standout, I really really enjoyed it. If their group has a dedicated rapper then I feel bad for her, she only got raps in like three or four songs. Like, Mr. Unnamed Rapper had as many rap lines as she did! I feel like they put all the creativity into the first songs and then just shoved all the rest into the end of the album. The guitar lines were great throughout though, whoever the producer is knows how to use guitar. Average score of 6.7 which is lower than M.I.L.K, but the songs that I enjoyed most from this album were better than my favorites from M.I.L.K
Secret
Apparently this song 1) has a MV and 2) won a MAMA which is pretty cool, that’s why I’m even watching it in the first place
The MV was nothing special by modern sensibilities, but the choreo looked fun
Styling was pretty girl crush
As usual, the intro for some reason is way better than the rest of the song
Still, the song was alright, I vibed, and this could definitely get stuck in my head

Groovy
Whatever happened to this type of synth sound anyway? Did music just collectively decide to “grow out of” fun synths?
“Did you enjoy that?” Yeah, I did actually, this is fun
r&b tendencies, with that ridiculous synth in the background
Oooh this guitar is actually really good. This is a good song.

This is the only one on the album with an MV, so I guess it’s the TT
Wait why do they look like they’re in a laundry machine and why are they so sad
I love the guitar
I’m torn between enjoying this song and not enjoying this song
The dance scenes are pretty cool
The vocals feel kind of anime outro to me, but the guitar is super classical

They do love their clean guitar plucks though

And as usual with slow jams, I have no comments, because I just do not find this style of music very interesting

A purely instrumental bridge with vocalizations in the background? I guess that’s cool
And the synth continues into this verse, nice
6/10, mid, I want something creative and interesting to catch my attention. I just listened to Kiss of Life’s new album earlier today and every song was super distinct and had its own identity. I guess that’s easier for an EP to do though, to be fair.

Nothing about the instrumentation sticks out to me though. The bass exists, the strings exist, the background exists, I guess it feels prism-y but it’s not doing anything special for me.

Phantom
Today in the new series I’TS MY OPINION I will talk about what I think about Wayv’s comeback title track. I am tagging @muselin cause she is kind enough to wanna know what goes inside my dirty little mind.
ANyay I am very new stan to Wayv and I has ben waiting AGES to witness a CB and when it does... I am in the middle of family holidays so I could not see it until way, way later and then Monsta x also had a CB and eclipsed everything.
Anyays, I have liked the mayority of Wayv’s songs and all the tt, so it is not a surpsrise that I reallly like this song. It is a bop, I love the low voices, the mix of rap and song, Xiaojun’s high notes. The song is very intense, with a very strong beat and then it changes into the pre-chorus and when it changes again to the main chorus, OMG, it’s so satisfying. There’s some classic note to it and it is somehow spooky and sexy and I love it.
The visuals are just my jam. I love jewellery and masks and the outfits and the colours, leathers and frills, that deep red? ooooofffff
I love the choreo, and Ten moves like nobody he is so fluid, the just effortlessly dances like falling snow, I love when a man can move like that (I DO NOT like that mullet, but I will survive) They all look incredibly attractive, even WinWin and Yangyang, whose looks are just not for me.
the effect are really cool, my favorite is Hendery’s eyes, like a panther’s and I just love that. then the locations, the theather, the underground, really reminds me to the phantom of the opera, and vampires, I just love it!!!

Greetings Joseph!
One of your diy followers made me a jelabs 6SL7 phono preamp; batt biased. Nice tone but unit hums. Noticeably loud thru headphones (80% of my listening inside Apt). Speakers are less audible. Hum is driving me crazy.
Have repositioned it various places away from my TT; Shindo pre; Shindo monaurial amps without success. Iso transformer didn’t solve hum either. I’m thinking magnetic field from transformers inside monos. Just read about your “tube shields” post. I can’t find any to try. That all said, any tips or tricks for me to try? Thanks kindly.
AFAIK, there were no official tube shields manufactured for octal and loctal tubes. The tube shields I blogged about were for pre-WWII 5 and 6 pin tubes (76, 6C6, WE310A, etc.). You'll occasionally see them pop up on eBay but they're usually found at radio shows and hamfests.
However, tube shields, potted power transformers and chokes only reduce hum induction, but won't solve ground loops caused by faulty wiring practices.
Back in the early 90s, I almost gave up on my "octal RCA phono" project because it had hum issues very similar to your description. I only solved it by implementing a bus ground scheme AND building an external power supply.
Since I'm classical musician and not a trained engineer, I can't really explain how that's done in simple terms. But here's a link to a pdf file about grounding I highly recommend you study.
Quiet phono preamps are much harder to DIY compared to line stage preamps and SE power amps. Hopefully, with patience and persistence you should be able to solve the hum issue with the guidance of that Valve Wizard pdf file I linked.
