Hypothetical titles for season seven of 88

Down below. Part one. Six months after the previous season’s finale. Findlay is bored with being dead and asks Devon to help her return home. Guest starring Bernard Curry as Devon Christensen

Middle ground. Part two. In the land of the living. Sidney’s mourning period is interrupted by a brewing gangland war between Staten Island brownies and Central Park fairies.

Up top. Part three. Devon manages to get in contact with Lucia who convinces their father to help with Findlay’s plan. But it comes with a steep cost. Guest starring Eric Bana as Godfrey Christensen.

Back to normal. Part four. The family is overjoyed that Findlay’s back. But Drummond notices that something isn’t quite right.

It’s not about you. Drummond’s suspicions deepen when Findlay loses her temper at a perp linked to a high school students horrific suicide

Family meeting. Drummond confesses his theory to Sidney who has a rather unfortunate, yet understandable, reaction.

Disbarred. Findlay, Jacob and Lucia have a field day when they find out that Phaedra Wilkins, returning guest star Hilary Duff, was fired from her firm for espousing transphobic views to her transgender boss. First appearance of Laverne Cox as Maybelle Archer, Ming Na Wen as Constance Bradley and Jennifer Coolidge as Aida Cambridge; the founding name partners of ABC&Associates

Grandfather clause. Findlay relishes the opportunity to create a profile without seeing the crime scene in person when there’s a murder at a gentleman’s billiards club where women aren’t allowed inside

Do you want the truth? Part one. What little patience Findlay retains disappears when Phaedra Wilkins demands to know what Findlay truly thinks of her.

Lying liar who lies. Part two. Jacob creates his own criminal profile to clear Findlay’s name after she’s blamed for Phaedra’s apparent attempted suicide

Fleabagging it. Findlay and Sidney indulge in some parental investigation when Drummond starts going to a Cabal owned church led by a very magnetic Cupid. Guest starring Hayden Christensen as Reverend Logan Hearst.

Cousin. Midseason finale. Part one. Chambers (Brad Pitt) returns to the shocking reveal that he has a daughter that he never knew about. Guest starring Elle Fanning as Kit Jenkins

Exsanguinated. Midseason premier. Part two. Following Kit’s attack on Chambers and subsequent suicide. Findlay asks her uncle for the full story. Features Dakota Fanning’s return as Arlene Jenkins and a special appearance by Michelle Pfeiffer as Arlene and Kit’s deceased mother Phyllis.

Lack of tact. To appease her father, Findlay willingly goes through an internal affairs investigation and a medical examination to find out why she’s been “off” since she came back from the dead. Featuring the return of Dan Stevens as Alec Moynihan and the first appearance of Audra McDonald as Dr. Corinna Corsica.

Ain’t karma a bitch? Findlay bonds with the child of a family who were burgled as Phaedra begins her community service sentence.

A special request. President Guilroy (Stockard Channing) summons Findlay, Sidney, Drummond, Thornton, Jacob and Lucia to Washington to workshop a secret project she’s planning. Features the return of Jeremy Shada as Robbie Guilroy and the first appearance of Greg Sulkin as Thornton’s brother, Alabaster.

Avast ye swabs. While Thornton, Findlay and Sidney are in Washington. Conrad Rhys (recurring guest star Paul Rudd) has to team up with his ex, Maybelle Archer to protect the rights of a LARPing group in Central Park.

The nanny, the detective and the profiler. Skipper gets very smug when he finds out that Findlay and Sydney might have hooked up with Coleman Tarbh (returning guest star Paul Telfer) after they hired him as the twins nanny

Burn baby burn. A gas explosion at the Changeling home gives Lucia the chance to help Sidney and Findlay add another notch to their bedpost after she realises their thing for the NYFD’s chief of department. Guest starring Robbie Amell as NYFD Chief Solaris Burnett and Idina Menzel.

He belongs to us. Drummond has to rescue Findlay after she’s abducted by his revenge driven biological uncle. Final appearance of Jim Parsons as disgraced Pastor Elmer Carothers.

London calling. Part one. Coronation. The five families are invited to the coronation of the new king of England. Guest starring Meera Syal as Nadine Burton the queen mother, Dev Patel as the soon to be king Reuben Burton and Naomi Scott as Reuben’s wife, Chantelle Burton.

London calling. Part two. Windsor. Findlay butts heads with the prime minister as soon as the families get settled into the castle. Guest starring Gemma Chan as prime minister Eliza Moorcroft.

London calling. Part three. Balmoral. Worried for the heirs life, Findlay succeeds in getting the royal family relocated for the ceremony but Eliza tries to block her at every turn.

London calling. Part four. Coup. Season finale. The coronation finally arrives but Eliza has one final trick up her sleeve that Findlay doesn’t see coming.

Phyllis Barry (born Gertrude Phyllis Hillyard, 7 December 1908 – 1 July 1954) was an English film actress. Born in Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, England, to Seth Henry and Bertha (née Giles) Hillyard, Barry appeared in over 40 films between 1925 and 1947.

Barry trained as a dancer in a John Tiller troupe. In August 1923, when she was 12, her mother brought her to Australia, where she was known as Phyllis du Barry.[1] By September, she was the lead dancer in a cabaret troupe at the Wentworth Cafe, until May 1925, when she made her first film, Painted Daughters. Engagements followed with the Frances Scully Pony Ballet and as a dancer at the Ambassadors' Club. In July 1926, she joined the Fuller Brothers, touring with Chefalo and Palmer, the Moon and Morris Revue Company and the Zig Zag Revue Company. Her second film, Sunrise, was made in 1926. In 1927, she appeared as a specialty dancer in the musicals No, No, Nanette and Gershwin's Lady Be Good, both starring Elsie Prince. She then joined the Jim Gerald Revue Company.

Her mother was an accomplished dress designer, both for the Empire Theatre in Sydney and on her own account, under the name "Madame du Barry." In February 1928, her mother married Jim Gerald's brother, Lance Vane. In March, Phyllis accompanied her newly acquired uncle and aunt, Jim Gerald and Essie Jennings, on an extensive tour of America, returning in November. On her return, Phyllis remained with Jim Gerald's company, then other Fullers' companies, until April 1929, when she joined the cast of Rio Rita, starring Gladys Moncrieff, as a dancer. In March 1930, Phyllis went to America and under the name of Phyllis du Barry, touring the coast with the Fanchon and Marco Company, finally appearing in Hollywood where she was given a film part when director King Vidor selected Barry to co-star as "the other woman" in the 1932 Samuel Goldwyn film Cynara opposite Ronald Coleman and Kay Francis. In 1933, she starred alongside Buster Keaton and Jimmy Durante in the comedy What! No Beer? for MGM. Her career did not include other major productions.

Modern viewers will remember Barry for her role as a foreign spy who seduces Curly Howard in the Three Stooges short subject Three Little Sew and Sews. Other films include The Prince and the Pauper, One Rainy Afternoon, Blind Adventure, and Laurel and Hardy's Bonnie Scotland.

Barry married the vaudevillian Abner Nordlund in March 1932, divorcing him in April 1934, then shortly after married the painter/decorator Gilbert M. Caldwell, living in West Hollywood. Her mother had joined her in America in July 1930, and lived with the couple.

Barry died of barbiturate poisoning caused by the ingestion of phenobarbital on 1 July 1954.

APRIL FOOLS!!

An assembly of fools for April Fools Day from a 1982 printing of The Shyp of Fooles by Sebastian Brandt, translated by Alexander Barclay, edited by Phyllis C. Robinson, and printed in an edition of 200 copies in 16 pt. Blado on Gutenberg paper by Tom Coleman and Karen MacDonald at August Heckscher’s Printing Office at High Loft in Seal Harbor, Maine.

This compendium of fools and foibles was originally written in German and first published in Basel as Das Narrenschiff by Johann Bergmann von Olpe in 1494. A popular narrative, it was translated into Latin and several European languages, including several English translations. This edition uses Alexander Barclay’s 1509 version, originally printed by Richard Pynson. The illustrations are derived from John T. Reid’s 1874 recutting of Albrecht Dürer’s woodcuts for Bergmann von Olpe’s 1497 Latin edition.

We include “The Assemblinge of Unprofytable Bookes” for our foolish colleagues, and “Them that be Diseasyd & are Impacient & Inobedyent to the Phesycyan” as a warning in these sober times of the coronavirus. Still, “The Longer They Live the More They are Given to Foly.”

Yet, we suppose we are all on that “Unyversall Shyp Wherein They Rowe that yet Hath Had No Ore or Place.” Our copy of The Shyp of Fooles is yet another donation from our friend and benefactor Jerry Buff.

RIP James Lipton

1926-2020

James Louis Lipton was an American writer, producer, host, actor and dean emeritus of the Actors Studio Drama School at Pace University in New York City. He was the executive producer, writer and host of the cable television series “Inside the Actors Studio” which debuted in 1994. He retired from the show in 2018.

His production company James Lipton Productions produced the 1978 television special “Happy Birthday, Bob” celebrating the 75th Birthday of Bob Hope at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Among the many stars that paid tribute to Hope, was Lucille Ball, who reminisced about their four films together.

LUCY: “They were all fun, frantic, and foolish.”

Lipton also was Executive Producer (and one of the writers) of “Bob Hope’s High-Flying Birthday Extravaganza” on May 25, 1987. On the deck of an aircraft carrier, Bob Hope salutes the US Air Force’s 40th anniversary. Lucy and Bob sing “I Remember It Well” by Lerner and Loewe. Other guests included Kirk Cameron, Phyllis Diller, Don Johnson, Emmanuel Lewis, and Glen Campbell.

In 1988, Bob Hope was again the center of a celebration produced by Lipton: “Happy Birthday Bob! 50 Stars Salute Your 50 Years With NBC”. Naturally, Lucille Ball was one of those 50 stars. Lipton also wrote lyrics for the program with Cy Coleman as composer, including Lucille Ball’s “Comedy Ain’t No Joke.” Lipton and Coleman were nominated for an Emmy for this work. This is officially Lucille Ball’s final “performance” (but not appearance) before her death.

For his own show, “Inside The Actors Studio”, he was nominated for 20 Emmy Awards, winning once in 2014. He died on March 2, 2020 at age 93.
