like could you imagine the last time you see your son yk he’s got some cuts and scars but he doesn’t wear a shirt when he’s swimming maybe he wears a muscle tee on occasion maybe sometimes on hot summer days when the AC doesn’t work he doesn’t really wear a shirt at all bc he’s at home with his family and he’s a teenager who gives af

then he’s gone for like 7ish months and when he gets back suddenly everything’s different he’s always covered up never really wanting to show off and you don’t really understand until he’s sleeping on the couch and his shirts a little disheveled so you walk over to fix him up and put a blanket on him and maybe take a pic bc that’s your son and you notice smth pinky and puffy on his skin so you lift it up a little further and he has claw marks stab marks deep cuts everywhere

up until this point you leave everything up to him what he wants to tell you when he wants to tell you or even if he ever will tell you

he wakes up screaming having trouble breathing he sobs into your arms when you go to his room and even when he falls asleep at the dining room table while attempting to study he wakes up holding the closest pen to him like a sword

7 months of his life blipped away and this is how he comes back :( like that’s so sad

currently thinking about how the first time we see percy show signs of suicidal ideation was when he landed in the water beneath the gateway arch and stated that he wished he could drown himself. currently thinking about how his mom was the only person that kept him grounded throughout his childhood thus far, and, in turn, the chance of saving her being the only thing that kept him alive in his darkest moments.

GUYS!!!! YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH IM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!!!! THE SCENE WITH POSEIDON AND SALLY IS SUCH A GREAT ADDITION TO THE TV SHOW FOR SOOO MANY REASONS, BUT MOSTLY BECAUSE IT SHOWS HOW MUCH HE LOVES HER AND PERCY!!!

Let me explain.

In episode 2 Luke gives the intro to burnt offerings, explaining that you burn what you’ll miss the most so the gods will listen.

In this episode (ep. 7) Sally burns something that’s not even hers, but the second she does, Poseidon is there to listen. And he even says that!

Poseidon can’t interact much with Sally, and it’s too dangerous for him to do so with Percy. The Olympian’s are constantly watching. You can even hear thunder in background after Sally asks if he wants to talk to Percy, a reminder from Zeus that if Poseidon talks to Percy, it will confirm he is Poseidon’s son.

thoughts on episode 7 because yes :))

- i love that they kept crusty's but the whole scene felt so rushed (i still liked it tho, esp the 'dude! don't make me come back out there' from annabeth lmao)

- ALSO ^ i don't remember crusty being a son of poseidon in the books- like i was so confused lmao (i reread the first book like the week before the show came out)

- ANNABETH NOTICING GROVER SCRATCHING AT HIS HORNS AND GIVING HIM SMTH TO LIKE SQUEEZE AT INSTEAD WAS SO CUTE. (and a good way to like "introduce" the ball that's used to distract ceberus!?!?!)

- the underworld looked SO COOL but nothing like i imagined it??? same with hades' palace (and just hades tbh)^ like why was it upside down 😭😭

- ceberus was so cool (???) but such a jumpscare when it like jumped up at the wall

- i've said it b4 but i'm so not ready for ep 8 with luke's betrayal, like THE SHOES DRAGGING GROVER TO TARTURUS?? i've read the books sm times but i was still on edge lmao

- why was hades' palace upside down😭😭

- WHY WAS HADES' INTRODUCTION LOWKEY NICE???

- i loved his scenes, but i'm disappointed with hades (kind of??) because he doesn't look like hades at all (or at least not how i imagined him, imo) and he's too nice (for the rest of the plot with how he treated nico, etc.)

- young percy scenes omg 😭

- yes that's all i'm going to say ^

- i kinda shocked (and sad lmao) when sally yelled/got mad at percy, like book percy stated multiple times (i think) that sally never/hardly ever got mad or yelled at him

- poseidon talking to sally in the cafe ?!?!?!?!? eas not expecting that

- THE EPISODE 8 PREVIEW. OH MY GOD.

- THE SCENE IN THE PREVIEW WHERE LUKE IS TAKING PERCY INTO THE FOREST.

i just know the homesickness went CRAZY the first like month too they probably called once a week and it would always end in a teary “i love you”

it was probably so surreal for sally too after fighting so hard to let percy have any type of future and now he is

i wonder if she’d scare herself every so often too like randomly have this deep seeded fear after everytime he’s away from her he comes back different that this would be like that bc she’s not there to protect him in some type of way

or maybe she’d randomly be like “where’s percy” before remembering he’s not missing he’s at college and call him just to verify that he’s ok

Rain as symbolism for Poseidon is such a powerful and great detail. The first time we see Sally Jackson it's raining, and she's out in the fire scape because it reminds her of Poseidon. This we learn later on as it starts raining moments before he enters scene and we get our first look at him. And finally, it all ends with Percy and Sally ready to face a new year, while it rains outside, because we now know what it means and Poseidon is looking out for them.
