do you- do you think that maybe, sometimes when Sally's feeling sad or overwhelmed she makes an offering and Poseidon sends rain to let her know she's not alone?

GUYS!!!! YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH IM FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW!!!! THE SCENE WITH POSEIDON AND SALLY IS SUCH A GREAT ADDITION TO THE TV SHOW FOR SOOO MANY REASONS, BUT MOSTLY BECAUSE IT SHOWS HOW MUCH HE LOVES HER AND PERCY!!!
Let me explain.
In episode 2 Luke gives the intro to burnt offerings, explaining that you burn what you’ll miss the most so the gods will listen.
In this episode (ep. 7) Sally burns something that’s not even hers, but the second she does, Poseidon is there to listen. And he even says that!
Poseidon can’t interact much with Sally, and it’s too dangerous for him to do so with Percy. The Olympian’s are constantly watching. You can even hear thunder in background after Sally asks if he wants to talk to Percy, a reminder from Zeus that if Poseidon talks to Percy, it will confirm he is Poseidon’s son.
POSEIDON LOVES THEM BOTH SOO MUCH, AND HE HAS TO STAY AWAY TO PROTECT THEM!!

Percy: I always talk about what my dad did badly but something he did really well was teaching me the concept of "you break it, you buy it". Percy: And he did this in a really simple way. Percy: By paying for my therapy. Percy: my mom made him.

Rain as symbolism for Poseidon is such a powerful and great detail. The first time we see Sally Jackson it's raining, and she's out in the fire scape because it reminds her of Poseidon. This we learn later on as it starts raining moments before he enters scene and we get our first look at him. And finally, it all ends with Percy and Sally ready to face a new year, while it rains outside, because we now know what it means and Poseidon is looking out for them.

The way the sally/poseidon scene was acted was so beautifully done. I actually can’t get over it. I have so many thoughts.
Poseidon couldn’t even bring himself to look at Sally. He’s so ashamed. Ashamed in himself for not helping (even if it’s forbidden), ashamed in himself for letting her and Percy for through this alone. Regretful for what he’s put her and Percy through. Because 10 years ago he was being selfish.
He met a woman he knew he couldn’t have, that he shouldn’t fall for. And fell anyway. He had a son with her. A forbidden child. And while he got to move on with his immortal life, sally had to fend for her and Percy alone. She’s had to make tough decisions and protect him from things from Poseidon’s world. Everything she’s been through is his fault.
The way he speaks softly to her, avoids eye contact, because he knows that as a person, she’s better than him in every way. She’s better than all of them. Here he is a powerful immortal god, and he’s timid in the presence of sally jackson, the woman who loves fiercely and would protect her loved ones with her life.

It actually pains him to know that the pain she’s in at this moment is because of him. He knows it and he constantly blames himself. But she didn’t call him here so that he could pity himself. And so he sits there and lets her vent. In a very familiar way too, as if he’s been there for her to listen many times before. But that’s all he can really do, listen and not act, so he’s gonna make sure he does this one thing right every single time.

If I see one more person draw a wrong parallel and go " Percy gave up immortality for Annabeth just like she gave up the chance to be a huntress....."
Those two things are so vastly greatly different that they can't be compared. They are derived from one another but they are nowhere near on the same level. Minorly enhanced physical prowess and the ability to be ageless has absolutely nothing on Godhood, unquestionably great power and the gift of immortality .
I don't understand why no one draws the parallel between Sally and Percy:
Sally Jacskon turned down the chance to be a queen, to be immortal [Poseidon would obviously grant her some semblance of immortality in order to live among Atlantis and to be unharmed] , a chance to have the literal personification of the Seas go against it's very nature of perpetuality to stop the tide for a mortal such as her, to have a God beg her to go with him? A God that she loves?
Everybody keeps saying Percy would never want immortality, but do you really not think that he must see the benefit of it? To be free from deadly quests, to exist outside the clutches of fate to a degree, to never be threatened with death ever again?
But both Percy and Sally are so uniquely good that they understand that despite all the endless power and stability this will bring, it will also rip apart their freedom? Their chance to be who they are without being dictated by another and also beacause their's a chance to do some good for the sake of the world.
Percy can only think of it that way because the woman who raised him has thought of it in the same way.
Annabeth represents all Percy's demigod life holds, so obviously, he looks at her at what she's come to represent in order to make the final choice. But Percy's answer should tell you how much thought he put into what he wanted instead, so yes to protect and better the lives of demigods was his first reason, not wanting to watch his mother or Annabeth and Grover die also played its part.
But I the biggest impact must have been that Sally Jackson, his mother, the one person Percy looks up to the most turned down immortality, and he has been aware of her reasons since he was 11. He had long a time to dwell on it himself. In the end, even Poseidon seems to see Sally's resolve in Percy. Like mother like son, and I don't think this gets enough credit as one of the main foundations of Percy's decision.

(I haven’t figured out gifs yet)
But do you see that face at the end? That look of fear, uneasiness, and relief? How long do you think she’s been holding that in? How long do you think it’s been since she let herself actually acknowledge that?
Because it’s very likely she’s never said those words before. Like ever. Because she knows the amount of danger she’ll immediately put Percy in the moment she says them. Because nobody can know. Because unlike the other gods and their affairs, Sally and Poseidon’s love is actually forbidden.
There’s a good chance she’s been too scared to even think about it for too long. Raising a neurodivergent kid isn’t easy, and it’s even harder as a single mother. But imagine how much harder it is, knowing that just the slightest slip up will put your child in imminent danger. Even the slightest hint of Percy’s parentage would get him killed.
Can you imagine holding that in for so long, with literally nobody to talk or relate to? Having to try and raise a neurodivergent, godly child while trying to balance normal life and an abusive piece of shit husband?
I definitely couldn’t do it. But Sally did.
That is a look of relief and fear, because she’s finally got it off her chest. She’s finally told someone. And in doing so, she’s put her son in so much danger.
