What is magic really?

For time out of mind, monsters have been studying the nature of magic. Truly, all Soul Studies are simply a lens through which to study what comprises magic - love, hope, joy, and compassion. Though, as humans have shown them, that is not all that exists within a SOUL.

For as long as Mettaton can remember, those questions were purely the domain of those educated at the university. They were boring questions that he occasionally pondered when he had nothing better to do than stare at the ceiling.

Yet, the Surface is not the place of answered wishes that Mettaton, Alphys, Undyne, Papyrus, or any monster dreamed. Instead, it is filled with hostile humans, accidental miscommunications, and crushed dreams.

Though, maybe, there is still love to be found on the Surface in romance, adoption, or found family of all kinds. Who could ever hope to tell?

(Very Papyton and Alphyne heavy in regards to ships. All major characters make varying degrees of appearance. Seeing as this story takes place on the Surface, there are also some human OCs for flavor.)

I've seen your undertale fanchilds and I really love them!! Can you tell us how their parents reacted to their first child?? Oh and I know you have a lot lol, so maybe just Alphyne, Soriel and Papyton

OOOOOOOOOOOOoohohohohohohooo!!!

This'll be fun! (Also yeah, I admit I do, huh? hehe. I'm trying to narrow it down a bit. But I just love the kiddos I make too much! Am working on a definitive list though. Might make it a little easier.)

Let's start with Soriel, since Sari was the first fankid born! Sariel was a total accident. Sans and Tori didn't intend to have her at all (because like, they've got four kids already), so she came as quite the surprise. It was also a bit of an adjustment for the whole family for a multitude of reasons. (How the other DF kids reacted, it basically being Sans's first time being a dad, it being like, over a century since Toriel carried a child, etc)

For Alphyne, while I think Undyne and Alphys thought about having kids, they probably expected to adopt or at least thoroughly plan it out. ... Yeah Giko and Izuku were also accidents. ... Kinda. (Not exactly planned, but also they weren't really taking any preventative measures to stop it from happening). I'd say they definitely weren't expecting twins at the least. Undyne was very excited at the prospect of being a mom, Alphys was nervous but excited too.

Finally Papyton! Broadway was planned! (Deciding that now because I can't have them all be accidents.) Both Mettaton and Papyrus were ecstatic to be parents. Papyrus I've always seen as being excellent with kids, and Mettaton (even if it is selfish and vain) needs someone to take on his brand. (Though I'd hope he wouldn't force that upon any of his kids.) Paps and MTT actually kept Broadway a secret for a while before glee was born. Mettaton was looking for the perfect way to announce it. I feel he never really got that opportunity before it was too late. Like, imagine he had this whole baby announcement planned out that's taken him months, and then right as he's about to, Broadway starts to come. That's canon now, I'm keeping it.

Papyton Week Day 5: Boots

The young dude in the picture is Oliver. He's a 23 year old college kid that Papyrus and Mettaton sort of mentor? ... adopted? It's complicated. But, they're definitely the folks he considers his folks more than his biological parents. Sometimes he stays at their apartment when he's not with his girlfriend, and those days make the two of them super happy. That's about all you need to know about him.

(I feel like I'm fifteen again. XD)

I had hella fun drawing this. I drew it on bristol paper. So, the colors didn't quite catch on my camera the way they do in person. It looks a little over exposed for some reason? (Also, Mettaton is actually silver, so he sparkles.)

I don't draw all that often because I don't have a lot of time. I whipped this up in a couple of interrupted hours this evening.

So, if the shading and stuff looks rough, it is.

That said, I love how Papyrus turned out. I've tried drawing him a billion times and I feel like I can just never get him quite right.

And, my LORD, I feel like I finally have Mettaton in the correct balance between "hardcore punk" and "colorful popstar." The septum piercing is what he was missing. I still think I can play with his cheekbones and jawline a little. (I should have pulled up some reference pictures, but I didn't have time.)

Impact: ooooh horror? I’m not really too big on horror, but I’ve watched the Exorcist before in high school… sort of! *he shivers* I actually couldn’t finish it…

Calibri: Horror? Horror slaps! I’m a huge fan of slasher films, especially low budget ones that are absolute shit! But goddamn..I hate the blood… and the sounds… and the bone breaking… and the guts…

Trajan: I enjoy a good horror film, though it’s hard to find one that isn’t just constant shock horror. So much garbage out there these days. Unlike those two, I can stomach the gore and violence. My Personal favorite has to be “Possum”. Thank you for the question, anon.

Impact is too big of a ninny to watch horror films all the way through. The most he can stomach are those garbage horror tap-text apps. And even those leave his bones rattling.

Now, Calibri says he’s down with horror, but the boy’s a liar!!!! His ass is not watching!!! He can hardly stomach anything relating to gore.

Trajan is most used to horror, given where he’s from. I mean, that’s mostly all he ever got to watch- practically raised on slasher films.
