2) Best Friend: Ends up being Carmina, they're abt the same age n everything (tho Cap is maybe 2 years older? Havent decided exactly yet)
3) Sexuality: Ace/Aro girlie doesn't care for it doesn't need it
4) Favorite Color: Purples and Yellows
5) Relationship status: single
6) Ideal mate: see number 3
7) Biggest turn ons: see #6
8) Favorite food: probably fish, tastes good and attached to good memories
9) Crushes:
10) Favorite Music: any song on Acoustic catches her easy but shes also in love with the few times she's heard a violin paired with a non classical genere (think Dirty Harry by Gorillaz-one shes heard or Are you Satisfied by Marina and the Diamonds-one she hasn't but would love)
11) Biggest Fear: Losing people she loves
12) Biggest fantasy: her mom and dad would describe the plots of Ghibli films to her while in the bunker when she was bored of her books and she's always wanted to live in a comfortable little village and eat bread. She wants a flying broom or to befriend wild animals (she loves Horatio with her whole heart btw)
13) Bad Habits: bites her nails and the skin around them (especially when stressed which is always)
14) Biggest Regret: Left to help with a highwaymen base while her dad was sick and was never able to say goodbye
15) Best Kept Secret: in the funnier side; found really old beer and drank it and believes Rush never found out (he did but never said anything- shes bad at secrets tbh)

17) Worst romantic experience: she read and heard a lot of people talking about romance (she's like 16 at this point) so she picks one person out thats her age and is like "idk what dating is like we should try" and the other person just was really weird abt how competent she was the entire time. And she was like "its probably normal to hate kissing" and eventually Rush was like "bud- no? Thats not- no????" And when she told the other dude they threw a hissy fit abt it and got into a fight with each other, eventually it was sorted but it was uncomfortable fr.
18) Biggest Insecurity: she's 5' even and everyone in her life is at least an inch taller than her and she hates it
19) Weapon of Choice: Saw Launcher and I've decided that she should get a stop sign like Maddness Combat instead of a shovel; ya know as a treat
20) Role Model: Thomas Rush, of course.

2, 6, 19, 22 for Lon, D'alia and Olivia teehee 🙈
nsft oc asks
ty amina!!
throwing these ones under a read more for length <:
2. are they a “the socks stay on during sex” kind of person?
lon: nope, he’s an everything off kind of guy! although if it’s a very rushed quickie, then like, only the necessary clothing gets removed, but it’s not a personal stipulation or anything.
d’alia: not for her either tbh. everything comes off, she doesn’t care that much.
olivia: not really, but she could be a ‘sexy stockings I wore as a turn on stay on’ kind of gal if she thinks her partner would be into it, too.
6. any place they absolutely would not have sex?
lon: his work, or like. a watercloset. he’s had some desperate quickies in the past (especially with ethan having to make do during wwi) but he has a little more standards about it now.
d’alia: answered here!
olivia: she’s a little shameless about a lot of places she would, but she wouldn’t have sex in like. a dirty alleyway. especially in gotham, no thanks. at least take her on a rooftop with a view.
19. when they “dress-up” for sex, what’s their go-to outfit? lingerie, suit, gown, etc?
lon: it’s more like dressing down LMAO undone suspenders and unbuttoned shirt, mussed up hair (and that tendril that always falls over his forehead left there), or like. those old timey men’s sock garters. you know what I mean
d’alia: answered here!
olivia: lingerie! she likes them silky or satin, often two piece sets, or teasingly revealing bodysuits and garters. however she’s also likely to wear a dress specifically meant to be a turn on to an event >:)
22. favorite thing/part about sex—intimacy, role-playing, etc?
lon: the intimacy, for sure. since it’s difficult to be able to have relationships with other men in that time, it weighs heavily that he can find that connection and exist in it, and it’s an important part of sex for him, even if it is something hurried.
d’alia: also the intimacy tbh. she isn’t easily about her feelings verbally, but she enjoys that she can express them through physicality and have that honesty with a partner through sex.
olivia: if she’s honest, the emotional rush of it, even if it’s for a moment. it doesn’t have to necessarily be an intimate connection, but the whirlwind of some level of vulnerability with someone, and finding out what makes each other tick, really.

Do you have any book recs / poems about unrequited love, failed crushes? I am in the dumps right now and I would love to read someone more articulate than me
Oh, I do. Also, for whatever it's worth, I have been there... and arguably will be there, in some way, for the rest of my life. (As Olivia Colman, as Queen Anne, unforgettably says in The Favourite: Some wounds do not close... One just walks around with them and sometimes one can feel them filling with blood.)
"One Art," Elizabeth Bishop, is a poem that can be recited between clenched teeth.
I Capture the Castle, Dodie Smith, is (among other things) an exquisite exploration of unrequited love and failed crushes. In my mid-30s, I find it difficult to reread because of its youthful optimism. But it is lovely.
Embers, Sándor Márai, is about love and loyalty and sorrow and how all of these can outlast and overcome betrayal. It's an absolutely gorgeous novel set at the end of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, not incidentally. Márai is really good on this sort of thing; I also recommend his Portraits of a Marriage and Casanova in Bolzano for exploring how disastrously, how redemptively, how irrevocably we love.
The End of the Affair, Graham Greene, may or may not be what you're looking for. But it is what its brilliant, bitter, disabled narrator calls "a chronicle of hate" and it is also a chronicle of what happens when the person you love more than anyone else in the world turns out to be, in some fundamental way, unknown to you, and chooses to distance themselves from you because of this unknown, unbearable strangeness. It is also, I think, a beautiful love story.
Kenilworth, Sir Walter Scott, is a strange and sprawling historical novel, but it is also a novel about how to live well when unhappy in love. And everyone is unhappy in love: foolish Amy, who married ambitiously and has found herself isolated; Elizabeth, who is queen and knows exactly what this means for her private passions; Tressilian, pale and thin and miserable with impossible love and determined to live a good life anyway (obviously, I love him.)
Cyrano de Bergerac, Edmond Rostand, is arguably the exploration of this, and personally, I read it as a remarkable assertion of Cyrano's indomitable sense of self, and sense of integrity, surviving the lifelong grief of love (Oui, vous m'arrachez tout, le laurier et la rose! / Arrachez! Il y a malgré vous quelque chose / Que j'emporte...).
I hope that some of these help things feel easier to you.

For a prompt During a case Spencer bonds with a baby they rescued while the team try to find the babys parents.
Thank you for the prompt :)
CW - slightly implied racism in regards to a case.
“This morning Mr. Laurier went to visit his neighbours. He found the house broken into and the family missing.” JJ began “The police have already connected the case to two others, the unsub targets mixed race couples with young children, the children have never been found, but the parent’s turn up dead 2 weeks after being taken.”
“The first family was the Estrada’s, 2 years ago. And the second was the Baldwin’s, 1 year ago.” Hotch said, “and now, the Nakano’s. They are an Asian-White mixed race family. The parents are Judith, and Dillon, and they have a 6 month old daughter, Lydia.”
*
2 days later the team searched the house of Liam Addaway, who they had managed to connect to each family.
“Clear” shouted Morgan.
“I have Adam Baldwin and Olivia Estrada.” Hotch shouted, shocked to find the 3 and 5 year old alive and mostly unharmed.
Spencer heard a small cry and followed the sound, opening a cupboard door and finding Lydia Nakano.
“I have Lydia,” he shouted. He picked the small baby up and held her against him, she immediately clung on and softly sniffled into his shirt.
*
The team had gone to check a cabin Liam had access to. Spencer had volunteered to stay back and look after Lydia, who didn’t have any other family to come pick her up.
JJ had laughed, nodding towards Lydia who was happily sitting in Spencer’s arms, and said “well, you better she’s already attached to you.”
Spencer rocked the baby, reciting some children’s books he had memorized from reading to Henry. Lydia eventually fell asleep, and as she slept Spencer stared at her, all he could think about was how badly he wanted children.
He imagined himself in another lifetime rocking his and Maeve’s baby. He wondered what their children would have looked like, how many they would have had?
Spencer was shaken out of his daydream by Lydia babbling and reaching for him.
“Hi, Lydie. You want to play peek-a-boo.” Spencer cooed at the baby.
Spencer laid Lydia in his lap and began to play with her.
“Peek-a-boo” Spencer said as Lydia giggled. Spencer’s heart melted at each laugh and he began softly tickling her tummy. She began happily wiggling around and laughing.
Spencer continued to play with Lydia until he was interrupted by his phone ringing.
“What is it JJ?” He answered his phone.
“We’re on our way back” JJ said, and as Spencer heard the next sentence he felt so much relief for Lydia “we found her parents alive.”
*
Mr. and Mrs. Nakano rushed into the room where Spencer and Lydia were.
“Lydia!” they cried out as they rushed towards her. Spencer handed Lydia to her parents as they thanked him for looking after her. Spencer watched on happily and with a slight pain, wishing for his own family, as they hugged each other.

Marlene and Charlene Ep. 1: Elites and Enemies
Marlene took another sip of her champagne, sending a grin at both Marge and Charlene, though she really only cared about the latter. Like usual, Marge was rambling on about some Olivia that she didn’t like, though she couldn’t bother to store it in the part of her brain solely devoted to gossip. Knowledge of the older lady’s newest petty enemy would get her nothing.
This was the third party Marlene had been to that week. Charlene had ducked out of one of them to plot the demise of her social rivals— or maybe just to read. But, this one was the most exciting by far, filled with crystal chandeliers, dancing, and gossip. White roses sat in every vase, jasmine perfume wafted through the flickering lights, and every guest was dressed to the nines. Perfect.
Charlene restrained herself from leaning against one of the elegantly draped tables. This party, though only the second of a long schedule this week, was already somehow boring and unnerving her. Marge, a thrice-widowed mistress with more money and champagne than sense, was going on about her assistant, Sara - no, Olivia. Sara was let go a few months ago for daring to wear her engagement ring, “upstaging” Marge.
“And then she said to me, ‘Ma’am - and first of all, no one calls me ma’am - ‘I need a week off for my wedding.’ A week! And to add to that….”
Charlene let her attention drift away and scanned the room for a conversational partner. Her eyes landed on Thomas Foreaut, an author who claimed to make his fortune from best-selling novels, but it was widely known that mostly came from his family.
Marlene tilted her head as Charlene darted off toward a man that she hadn’t bothered to learn the name of. For a moment, she almost thought the two would flirt, but they only engaged in seemingly polite conversation… though the man seemed to be a little nervous. Marlene almost wished she would flirt. The two ladies loved pulling the strings of their little corner of society, often together, but Marlene preferred… less subtle tactics.
“Pardon me, Marge.” Marlene patted the older woman with a gloved hand and set off toward Charlene and the man. “Well, hello, Charlene! And you, sir. I don’t think I’ve yet caught your name.”
The man cleared his throat, obviously nervous. “Thomas Foreaut. And, ah, you?”
“Marlene. But you can call me Ms. Laurier.”
Charlene tensed. Her grip on her barely-touched glass got a little tighter. Her eyes flicked between the two, hoping Marlene wouldn’t intervene in a possible social connection, or even enjoyable conversation.
“Ms. Laurier. Charmed.” Foreaut kissed Marlene’s hand and eyed her more-than-halfway-empty glass. “Would you care for a fresh glass?”
“Why, thank you, Mr. Foreaut, but I can get my own. I probably drink a bit too fast for you to keep up with.” Marlene smirked, glancing at Charlene. Her arrogant expression quickly faded when her best friend’s knuckles went nearly white on her wine glass. Quite alright? She half-mouthed, half whispered where Foreaut couldn’t hear it.
Charlene nodded almost imperceptibly, relaxing her fingers and smiling. “I think she’s had a bit much already,” she laughed lightly. “And it does take a certain man to drink with her. But thank you for the offer, Mr. Foreaut.”
“Call me Thomas,” he said to her, turning away from Marlene. “If I could be so bold, I’d like to offer you my hand. Just in dance, unfortunately.” His eyes glimmered with the self-centeredness that every lady in high society knew all too well. Charlene glanced over his shoulder.
“I am sorry, but I must speak with her.” She gestured vaguely at a circle of women and slipped away with Marlene.
Marlene giggled, shaking her head. “Well, he was a real gongoozler. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s in someone else’s bed by the end of the night.”
The two of them walked through the party, watching the mix of couples and nervous singles. “I wouldn’t be surprised if I was as well, but I’ll obviously stick around with you for a while longer. I don’t want to destroy these beautiful pin curls… God, I spent hours on these, and yours still look better.”
“Thank you. And, please, at least pick a gentleman this time. I’ve seen you with men more brash and drunk than Irish sailors.”
After a few more minutes of drinking and socializing had passed, the guests were called into the formal dining room for dinner. Charlene found her card, regrettably far from Marlene’s, and evaluated who was sitting near her. Mr. Foreaut - or Thomas, as he had asked her to call him - was sitting almost next to her.
Marlene slipped the silky cardigan off her shoulders, forcing laughter at a bland joke someone near her had told.
She noted that Charlene looked supremely uncomfortable, clearly avoiding conversation with the Foreaut man. It was a wonder anyone still let him into their parties.
A cry rang out from the other side of the table the moment Marlene looked away. Thomas Foreaut was facedown in his soup. Her immediate reaction was to burst into laughter, but Marlene repressed it for the sake of preserving the newly solemn atmosphere.
“Is he dead?” Marge, the woman from earlier, cried out. She hesitantly pulled Foreaut up by his shoulders, revealing his ashen, soup-drenched face. She screamed and dropped him with a splash. His lifeless non-expression disappeared into the lobster bisque. Drops of broth landed on a few guests, including the gloves Charlene had raised to shield her makeup.
“Dear God!” She gasped, horrified.
“No one touch any more of their food.” A large man with a deep voice stood. “It was probably poison.”
Everyone recoiled from their dishes.
“Somebody needs to call the police!” Marlene shouted as a few more began to panic. A nearby waitress ducked away with a nod.
She immediately made her way to Charlene, gritting her teeth. “I… don’t know what to say! Sure, that man was a little strange, but he didn’t seem bad enough to make enemies. That is, assuming that… it wasn’t an accident. A murder.”
Charlene stood, looking troubled yet somehow not wrinkling a single muscle. “Who could have done it? Someone with whom he was in business? He was an author.” She scanned the room. It was in absolute chaos, the elegant facade dropped at a moment’s notice.
“I’d put my money on romantic troubles. I’ve had a lot of those of my own, and flirting with you may have been his attempt to recover…” Marlene glanced around, frowning. “You obviously know more about him than me. I had no idea of his name, much less his occupation. Do you know of any connections of his? Friends? More specifically, anyone here tonight?”
“I know his brother’s here. Leonard Foreaut. He’s a doctor who works in the sanitorium business. He got quite a bump in fame and salary when he started working with the Kellogg brothers.”
Marlene grinned. “You clearly know your onions. I’ll be off to talk to some others… servers, maybe?”
Charlene nodded and turned toward Leonard, who was up against a wall, staring at his brother with glazed eyes.
“Mr. Foreaut? She asked gently. He jumped, and turned to her. “I’m so sorry, Mr. Foreaut.” Charlene held out a placating hand. “For startling you, and for your brother. I didn’t know him well, but we spoke at parties, and…” She shook her head. “It’s just all so awful. If you need anything, please don’t hesitate to call.”
“Thank you, Ms. Alleman,” he replied, voice precariously even. “But I don’t think I’ll need anything except a quick funeral and a good lawyer,” he spat. Charlene would have taken a step back if she hadn’t stopped herself.
“You… did not care for your brother?”
“I know what you’re thinking. You think I killed the bastard.” Charlene had barely a second to look horrified before he continued. “I didn’t, but I wish I did. The dotties man stole my wife.”
Marlene found the kitchen quite quickly, startling the few staff to members hanging around.
“Ah, hello to all of you! D’ya know who killed him? Foreaut, I mean? Or, um, who prepared the soup?” It was becoming increasingly harder and harder to ignore the fact that she had been drinking. The staff turned to her and looked between each other, inquisitive and unsure as to what to do with this drunk woman.
“Uhh…we don’t know who killed him, ma’am, no. And the cooks switch positions frequently in the kitchen, so… I’ll ask them.”
He rushed off, and the rest looked longingly after him.
Marlene giggled, shaking her head. “Alright, I get it. You want me to leave… but I’m trying to figure this out. There are rumors about me and my family, around, you know. About how we don’t deserve our fortune and my mom abandoned me… was hoping that this would fix that.” The staff continued to stare with a mixture of confusion and… maybe pity. Marlene couldn’t tell. “What about… besides his brother… who did Foreaut know?”
One of the chefs tilted her head. “I don’t know if any of us can really help you, um… Ms. Laurier. All we did was prepare the food before the event. Herbert should be up at the front. He’s got a seating chart, then you’d be able to see the guest list.”
Marlene nodded, mumbled a thanks, and ducked out of the room.
Herbert was indeed out front, and he was standing at a desk with papers scattered across it, muttering frantic sentence fragments under his breath, starting to move a paper and then leaving it hovering over the desk.
“Why, hello, sir. Herbert, right?” Marlene made sure that her already low-cut dress was slipping off her shoulders on one side. “It’s been an awfully tense night, and I… needed a little help.” Though there might be a simpler way, men were stubborn, meaning that there wasn’t a faster one. It took him a moment for him to realize someone was there, but when he did turn around, he was as captivated with her as he was with his papers.
“With what can I help you, ma’am?” His voice still shook from the startle, and from seeing a woman as beautiful as Marlene showing such a generous amount of skin.
Marlene leaned her elbows onto the desk, slowly pulling her gloves off. “Maybe I could help you instead. You know… tonight?” She tilted her head, smiling an entirely fake smile. “But I need the seating chart. Please, Herbert.”
He gaped for a moment, then shook his head and turned to the papers.
“Yes, yes. The seating chart… the seating chart…” Herbert pulled a piece from the bottom of the stack, taking a few others to the floor. “Here you are. About tonight, uh… the Goldmont Hotel? I know the manager; he can get me a room like that.” He snapped his fingers and immediately looked regretful.
“Why, of course. Handsome and well-connected. I liked you even more than when I walked in.” She winked, before taking the paper and sidling out of the room. “I’ll be at the penthouse suite at midnight. Assuming that you’ll be able to book that.” Marlene immediately headed toward Charlene, grinning with the elation of both the seating chart and her new fling.
Charlene, meanwhile, had managed to pry herself away from Leonard Foreaut before he could go on too long about his dead brother who had been “dead to him long before whatever lucky devil got to the wife-bandit.” She sidestepped and “excuse me”’d her way through the crowd to reach Marlene.
“What did you find?” She asked, glancing at the paper in Marlene’s hand.
Marlene grinned, passing her the paper. “Not quite found, more acquired. The seating chart. And you? What did you get from that brother of Thomas’s?”
Charlene rolled her eyes. “He made it very clear he held no love for his brother. Apparently Thomas stole Leonard’s wife, and he wishes he’d killed him. And what about the seating chart?”
“We… we can figure out who else he knew, who was sitting around him…” Marlene trailed off, noticing Charlene’s intensely focused expression. “What? What is it?”
Charlene’s impeccably colored lips parted ever so slightly.
“Marge…” She whispered.
“Pardon?” Marlene leaned in. “What about Marge?”
“She was sitting where Thomas was.” Charlene looked up and met Marlene’s eyes. “Marge was supposed to die.”
Marlene reached for someone’s discarded glass of champagne, frowning. “And how do you… know that? Thomas’s got some enemies, right, because he was with his brother’s wife! Leonard said he wanted to kill the sap.” She paused, leaning against a table. “Wait… one of the chefs… mentioned that they prepare the food in advance! So whoever poisoned Thomas must have intended it for Marge! You were right, Char, of course! I never should have doubted you.” Marlene finally came to her own drunken realization.
Charlene stood with eyes wide, shocked at two things. One: Thomas was never intended to be poisoned, Marge was. Two: that Marlene could think so straightly and so coherently while so intoxicated.
“Do you think it was one of the chefs?” She whispered.
“I’m… not sure. Certainly plausible, but I suppose it could have been anyone who was stealthy enough to slip the poison in. Who… who would want to kill Marge?” Marlene murmured, downing the rest of the glass.
“Maybe you shouldn’t still be drinking,” Charlene suggested. “What with a killer possibly in the room who prefers poison.”
Marlene rolled her eyes. “Oh, so what if I want to tip a few? If the killer got the wrong person, I doubt that they’ve got the wits to get me.”
Charlene couldn’t argue with that. And she really didn’t want to. “Maybe we ought to find out what kind of poison was used. The police will be able to figure it out, but who knows when they’ll be here?” She looked over Marlene’s shoulder at Thomas, who hadn’t been touched so as to preserve the crime scene. “How are we going to get to his dish?”
“Hmm… I’ve already promised a man that I’ll be with him tonight, and I don’t want to… ask you to do that.” Marlene sat down on top of one of the gaudy tables, drawing the eye of a few other patrons. “Seeing that he was such a delight, we could ask… what was his name, Leonard? To help us out. Pretend to pay his respects, maybe, and get us a sample. I could bake him some cookies as payment!” She giggled, both excited for an excuse to bake and proud of her own haphazard plan.
Charlene pressed her lips together. “Lovely. You go ask him, and I’ll distract those standing guard.” Smoothing her dress more out of habit than necessity, Charlene bade Marlene good luck and clipped to the combination of staff and guests on each side of Thomas’ chair.
“Mrs. Eminglad? I haven’t seen you in ages!” Charlene remarked, sidling her way to the woman with green feathers in her curly, bunned hair. “How is your son, Henry?”
Mrs. Eminglad, whose lips and jaw were usually tighter than a bribed cop’s, relaxed at the sight of her friend. “He’s doing lovely, my dear, thank you. He just applied to Yale. We’re so hoping he can go. Oh, his father would be ecstatic….”
And so she droned. The entire time Charlene cast miniscule glances across the room, and every once in a while she would rope in another guard. All the while she kept one eye on Marlene.
Marlene herself was nervously conversing with Leonard Foreaut, who made no attempts to conceal his distaste for his brother. Given how much she knew the man had rambled on to Charlene, he would certainly take any opportunity to complain.
“Yes, of course, Mr. Foreaut. I certainly agree that Thomas was… well, not an amazing person. The sap tried to pick up my best friend right in front of me.” Her attempt to appeal to his vengeful side was clearly working. “So, I was wondering… if you could help me out. From one Thomas-despiser to another, I just need a bit of his soup. Would you be willing to do that for me? Maybe under the pretense of… paying your respects, however little he deserves? If that’s not enough on its own, I make a great cookie, and pineapple upside-down cake.”
When Charlene saw Leonard making his way toward the opening she had created, she was able to smile a little more earnestly at Mrs. Eminglad’s news that her husband was staying an extra day with his parents.
************
The two heiresses stood against a window, Marlene holding the teacup of soup in between them.
“Do you have any idea how to figure this out without it poisoning us ourselves?” Charlene whispered. “Could we smell it?”
Marlene shrugged. “I’ve done worse and been fine. Might as well.” They both leaned in, before immediately jerking away. “Oh, dear. That’s pungent. Smells like… floor cleaner.”
“Floor cleaner… that doesn’t make sense. No one here would bother to get floor cleaner, they would use something more sophisticated, something intended to kill...” Charlene slowly looked up from the poisoned soup. “Marlene… are you too drunk to be thinking what I’m thinking?”
“Depends on what you’re thinking. Honestly, I’m… thinking about Herbert. Do you know him? Probably not… it doesn’t really matter, anyway.” Marlene tilted her head, before blushing and clearing her throat. “No, I’m not thinking what you’re thinking. What are you thinking?”
“I’m thinking it was someone of a lower status than Marge, who had a vendetta against her and easy access to cleaning materials.” She paused. “Olivia.”
Marlene gaped. “Olivia! Holy hell, you’re right. What… do we do now?”
“I suppose we'll tell the police, but… they can’t know we found out. If it ever got out that two high-society women were involved in murder, even solving, it would throw dirt on our names. That man you owe… a favor, Leonard. Could he tell them for us?”
“You’re right. My reputation’s precarious enough, with all the rumours flying about…” Marlene frowned. “I don’t want to owe that guy anything else, but. Herbert! I’ll be seeing him tonight, and he’s already infatuated with me enough that I’m sure it’ll be easy.”
Charlene breathed a sigh of relief. “Thank you, Marlene. And,” she smirked, a rare expression on her face. “Be gentle.”
************
Marlene giggled, petting her dog-- Lambchop, a 13-year old miniature poodle who had more dignity than most of Marlene and Charlene’s peers. “Did you see the article? Herbert’s Newport’s hero of the week! And Olivia’s awaiting trial.”
“I’m hardly surprised. After all, he was such a strong presence at the scene. A beacon of strength to us all.” Charlene raised her cup to her lips and her eyes to Marlene. “There’s nothing in there about either of us?”
“Both fortunately and unfortunately, yes. I’d love the attention, but you were right. We’d probably be ruined if this were associated with us,” Marlene smiled softly as Lambchop began to doze in her arms. As much as the little dog loved her (and practically nobody else), the furry darling would certainly bite her if Marlene tried to move her during a dream. “We were actually amazing at that. Seeing that the local police are incompetent enough to believe that Herbert solved a murder, maybe we should try our hand at crime solving again.”
Charlene folded the newspaper and tossed it into the wastebasket.  “Well, it’s not like they knew him. And he was probably pretty confident and on a bit of a high after the night you two had. Though I never want crime to hit Newport again, when it does… maybe we will try our hand.”

Where the NDP could win:
…and hence where you should absolutely vote NDP and not fear ‘vote splitting’ or ‘handing the election to the Conservatives.’ Ridings where the NDP are incumbent but behind have to be considered at least plausible.
(working from this great breakdown from @Historian_Matt on twitter, using projections (not polls) from 338 and riding history from wikipedia)
Newfoundland & Labrador - swept by LPC, time to take it back. St. John’s East: won by Jack Harris in ‘08 &’11, Harris is running again. Two way race between NDP & LPC on 338. St. John’s South—Mount Pearl: won by Ryan Cleary in ‘11, 338 doesn’t like the odds. Nova Scotia - Some lost territory to regain, CPC not a huge factor. Dartmouth–Cole Harbour: won by Robert Chisholm in ‘11, Emma Norton is an ‘Our Time’ endorsed environmental activist.    Halifax: won by the excellent Megan Leslie in’08 and ‘11, previously won by former leader Alexa McDonough, this is a two-way race and this should be an NDP riding. Sackville—Preston—Chezzetcook: won by (the now-disgraced) Peter Stoffer in six consecutive elections, currently a three-way race.  New Brunswick - Acadians rise up. Acadie—Bathurst: won by Yvon Godin six times between ‘97 and ‘15, two-way race against incumbent LPC Serge Cormier. Quebec - NDP not looking good, but the CPC is even lower most places. Abitibi—Baie-James—Nunavik—Eeyou: Enormous Northern riding held by the retiring Romeo Saganash. 338 has this split between the Bloc and LPC, but with the NDP not far behind. The Tories are a non-factor.
Abitibi—Témiscamingue: Currently held by retiring Christine Moore, another tight one between LPC/BQ/NDP.  Beloeil—Chambly: Currently held by Matthew Dubé, the last-standing member of the McGill 5. 338 has him well behind the LPC and BQ. Berthier—Maskinongé: Currently held by Ruth Ellen Brosseau (the notorious REB) and one of the few Quebec ridings that the NDP can be said to be leading in. It would be ludicrous to vote Liberal here, it’s REB or the Bloc. Drummond: Currently held by Francois Choquette, 338′s breakdown somehow puts him 4th. Hochelaga: Currently held by retiring Marjolaine Boutin-Sweet, now allegedly a LPC/Bloc battleground. Fuck ‘em both, vote NDP. Jonquière: Currently held by Karine Trudel, who, like Choquette in Drummond, is improbably in 4th.                  Laurier—Sainte-Marie: The site of the retiring Hélène Laverdière defeating Bloc leader Gilles Duceppe, and a Quebec riding where the NDP are second to the LPC. Rimouski-Neigette—Témiscouata—Les Basques: Leadership candidate Guy Caron’s riding, which he won in ‘11 and ‘15. 338 has him behind the Bloc and LPC. Sucks to that. Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie: NDP Deputy Leader Alexandre Boulerice isn’t going anywhere. Currently ahead.   Saint-Hyacinthe—Bagot: Currently held by Brigitte Sansoucy. Salaberry—Suroît: Held by the retiring Anne Minh-Thu Quach. Sherbrooke: Pierre-Luc Dusseault is now 28 years old after two full terms in office, unfortunately Sherbrooke is yet another Quebec riding now being contested between the Bloc and LPC. Trois-Rivières: Another of the 2011 pickups that weathered 2015, incumbent Robert Aubin being given a disrespectful 8.9% on 338. Ontario - Big yikes of a province, but traditional ridings could hold. Algoma—Manitoulin—Kapuskasing: Carol Hughes has represented this rural riding since 2008, currently polling well. Brampton East: Raj Grewal left the LPC amid a particularly spicy investigation into his gambling debts. Canada’s only majority South Asian riding, its provincial analogue is held by Jagmeet’s brother. 338 lists it as safe LPC even so. Beaches—East York: NDP has been a strong performer in this riding and held it in the past, it’s a two-way race between them and LPC. Davenport: Won by Andrew Cash in 2011, he’s back and trailing slightly. Essex: Tracey Ramsey won this riding in 2015, this is a rare NDP/CPC race and Tracey’s leading but she needs your vote. Hamilton Centre: The retiring David Christopherson is the only MP this riding has known (created in 2004,) Our Time is endorsing his replacement, Matthew Green. He’s leading, according to 338. Hamilton East—Stoney Creek: Previously held by Wayne Marston from ‘06 to ‘15, and a race between the LPC and NDP. Hamilton Mountain: Historically always a LPC/NDP battleground, currently an orange seat for Scott Duvall. London—Fanshawe: I don’t generally approve of dynastic politics, but the retiring Irene Mathyssen’s daughter Lindsay is vying to replace her in London and is currently ahead of the LPC. Niagara Centre: Malcolm Allen won this riding in ‘08 and ‘11 and is trying to avenge his 2015 defeat in what now looks like a three-way race. Nickel Belt: Traded between LPC and NDP for decades, singer-songwriter Stef Paquette is in yet another close race. Oshawa: Not sure I agree with the detective work on this one. Yes, Ed Broadbent used to rep Oshawa. Literally thirty years ago. Candidate seems like a good one though. Ottawa Centre: Also repped by Ed and the late, great Paul Dewar. Currently held by the duplicitous Catherine McKenna, the NDP are polling 2nd in this used-to-be stronghold. Parkdale—High Park: Once the riding of powerhouse Peggy Nash, another two-way race. Check out Paul Taylor’s specs.   Sault Ste. Marie: Strong NDP results historically, held by Tony Martin among others. NDP candidate Sara McCleary really laid it all out when she was nominated. Scarborough North: Previously held by Rathika Sitsabaiesan in 2011, NDP currently polling 3rd.  Scarborough Southwest: Strong LPC district, though Dan Harris won this riding in 2011. Whoever you vote for here, maybe don’t vote for Bill fucking Blair. Spadina—Fort York: downtown Toronto, previously the riding of Olivia Chow. Climate activist Diana Yoon in tough against incumbent Adam Vaughn. CPC a non-factor.      Sudbury: LPC/NDP battleground, with the Liberals on top pretty solidly in the polls. Thunder Bay—Rainy River: Close race between incumbent LPC and the NDP. The late John Rafferty represented the riding between 2008-2015. Thunder Bay—Superior North: Contest is a three-way between aisle-crossing GPC Bruce Hyer, incumbent LPC Patty Hadju and the NDP’s Anna Betty Achneepinsekum, former Deputy Grand Chief of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation.    Timmins–James Bay: Say what you will about Charlie Angus, the wannabe-Pat Martin is not in any particular danger of losing this race. Toronto—Danforth: As matter of principle the NDP should not have lost Jack’s riding in 2015, and as this is essentially a two-way race between them and the LPC, documentarian Min Sook Lee should absolutely have your vote. Windsor—Tecumseh: Big NDP riding, incumbent Cheryl Hardcastle should be able to hold a riding the party has held all millennium. Windsor West: Similarly, Brian Masse has represented Windsor West since 2002. It’s his to lose. Toronto Centre: I mean, imagine unseating Bill Morneau. Liberals have a big lead here, the CPC are a non-factor and Brian Chang is an excellent candidate. University—Rosedale: Still unhappy that Jennifer Hollett lost out to Capitalism with a Human Face Chrystia Freeland, and further unhappy that Freeland seems a shoe-in for re-election. NDP are second, for what it’s worth. York South—Weston: Won by the NDP’s Mike Sullivan in ‘11, something of an LPC stronghold otherwise. Again, NDP are second in a very Liberal riding. Manitoba - well, it’s not all bad news.  Churchill—Keewatinook Aski: Yeah, Niki Ashton’s sticking around. It was close in 2015, but this is her 4th rodeo. Elmwood—Transcona: aka, the Blaikie dynasty riding. Again, I don’t care for that sort of thing but I do hope Daniel Blaikie holds on here. Currently 2nd behind the CPC. Winnipeg Centre: I feel like the good people of Winnipeg, who dumped Pat Martin for the Liberals in 2015, should be real disappointed with Ouellette. 338 has this one pretty tight with the NDP, and Leah Gazan is an incredible candidate. Winnipeg North: Historically a strong NDP riding despite disappointing results this decade.  Saskatchewan - The LPC is almost completely absent, the NDP trail the CPC everywhere. Desnethé—Missinippi—Churchill River: Currently held by Georgina Jolibois, tight race with the CPC here. Saskatoon West: Currently held by deputy NDP leader Sheri Benson, and apparently another tight one.  Regina—Lewvan: Oy. Currently held by former-NDP Erin Weir, who is thankfully not running. Seems like a loss incoming, CPC leading the NDP. Saskatoon—Grasswood: Safe CPC territory but with decent NDP numbers. Saskatoon—University: Oh gods, Brad Trost’s riding. The NDP are the second choice overwhelmingly here, but the Trostlodyte seems entrenched. Alberta - Let’s keep this short. Edmonton Strathcona: Linda Duncan, who won this seat in 2011, is retiring. Her would-be replacement Heather McPherson has a real uphill battle against… Alberta, conceptually. BC - The Greens are beginning to become a problem. Burnaby North—Seymour: Svend Robinson is back. Despicable CPC candidate Heather Leung has been removed (but remains on the ballot.) LPC incumbent Terry Beech has made wild claims about the necessity of defeating the Conservatives. I wanna bet on Svend but it seems like a hard one, especially with a strong Green 3rd place.  Burnaby South: If the NDP lose this riding we’ve learned a very important and painful lesson. CPC Jay Shin has disturbingly high numbers. Cowichan—Malahat—Langford: Alistair McGregor won this riding in 2015 and looks ahead of the pack in the rare 4-way race. Courtenay—Alberni: close CPC/NDP race with incumbent NDP Gord Johns looking okay but not exactly strong. Greens in a close third place. Esquimalt—Saanich—Sooke: On the island, NDP incumbents like Randall Garrison are in real danger of being run-over by the Greens – he’s currently polling third, behind the GPC and CPC.   Kootenay—Columbia: NDP incumbent Wayne Stetski is in a close race with the CPC, they’re the only two parties relevant in this interior battle. Nanaimo—Ladysmith: Paul Manly won a spring by-election for the Greens, taking the riding from the NDP. Every expectation is they’ll hold it, and the NDP seem to be fighting the Conservatives for 2nd.   New Westminster—Burnaby: Peter Julian has represented the NDP from a variation of this riding since 2004, his biggest rival here is the LPC. North Island—Powell River: Incumbent NDPer Rachel Blaney barely leads the pack of 4, edging out the CPC. Needs your help, for sure. Port Moody—Coquitlam: part-man part-shark Fin Donnelly, having finally realized his legislative goals of banning shark-fins, is retiring. The NDP are thus in tough against the CPC for the fate of Po-Mo-Co, with the LPC not super far behind. Skeena—Bulkley Valley: Everyone’s favourite NDP MP Nathan Cullen is retiring and this enormous riding is sadly thus in play, a race between the NDP and CPC. South Okanagan—West Kootenay: Incumbent NDP Dick Cannings, avian biologist extraordinaire, is in a rare Interior three-way with retired tennis pro Helena Konanz and an unusually strong LPC in third. Surrey Centre: LPC seem likely to hold, the NDP are well-back in 2nd. NDP have a history of doing well in North Surrey. Surrey—Newton: I don’t think the recent scandal involving former MP Jinny Sims is going to help the NDP in this riding, but they are the 2nd choice to the incumbent LPC. Vancouver East: Never in doubt. The NDP have repped East Van consistently since they were the CCF, going all the way back to the thirties. Two brief interruptions in the 70s and 90s, otherwise 75 of the last 84 years this fortress of leftism has held. Vancouver Kingsway: My riding. Don Davies has done well by us for more than a decade. The Liberals attempting to gain this riding by parachuting in TV presenter Tamara Taggart kinda makes my blood boil. I’m good with Don. He’s got a healthy lead but it’ll be closer than I’d like. Northwest Territory At-Large: Three way race, could be a vote splitter. Nunavut At-Large: Three way race, could be a vote splitter. Sure would like to see them dump Leona. Mumilaq Qaqqaq is a fascinating candidate for the NDP.
