Making Your Own Correspondences for Plants
Disclaimer: This post is about magical and spiritual use, not medical, and medical use is mentioned only for historical examples. Don’t mess around with medicine unless you know what you’re doing, or consult someone who does. I’ve previously written about where the majority of magical plant correspondences tend to come from in modern pagan & witchcraft sites and books. If you decide to DIY some or all of your correspondences, how you do it will depend on what your beliefs and practices are. Some things to consider:
Do you believe the magical properties are already in the plants, are unchangeable, and need to be discovered? Or that they depend on your beliefs and associations?
Do you value individuality and personal significance, or having shared lore with your community and culture? Or both?
Do you value the process of relationship-building with a plant or spirit?
Do you value receiving lore through ancestry or lineage? Does it matter to you how old it is?
I’m going to delve deeper into 3 main sources: existing lore, physical characteristics and the plant itself.
===1. Building upon existing lore===
Learning the history and folklore of a plant, even if it doesn’t have existing magical uses, is likely to give you ideas and a deeper understanding. Some potential sources of lore: recorded folklore and common names, oral tradition, fairytales and nursery rhymes, etymology, flower meanings, appearances in mythology, appearances in well-known books or poems, pop culture and fiction.
Whether or not you want to think about it, the greater story of your practice includes the story of your lore and how it came to you. Oftentimes that story involves violence, theft, deception and ridicule. BIPOC have written at length about cultural appropriation [link, link, link, link] & cultural genocide as one of the ongoing harms of colonisation and racism. If you’re not part of a culture that traditionally stewards a certain plant or body of lore, listening to (whether literally hearing or by other means) and respecting those people’s voices is your ongoing responsibility when engaging with it. Navigating these issues as a member of an oppressing group often involves ambiguity and discomfort. This is also part of the path. Remember that we’re blessed to have the opportunity to listen to these voices today. Others did not survive.
Practical uses, both modern and historical often include medicine, but there’s much more, e.g. thorny plants’ association with protection - not only because the thorns protect the plant itself, but because thorny hedges have been grown in many times and places to deter large animals or trespassers from crossing a fence. More recently, I suspect the modern-day association of lemon with cleaning products has led to its current use in magical cleansing.  In any case plenty of common correspondences have arisen fairly recently from modern-day uses. Whether you place special value upon ancient or pre-modern lore is up to you.  The reasons behind old magical lore were often related to practical use, so I see it as a continued tradition.
===2. Looking at physical characteristics===
What you see depends on how you look (and think). Many plants have heart, star or crescent-shaped leaves. What do these things mean to you? A crescent usually reminds me of the moon but you could also see it as a claw or a smile, two things with very different connotations. Sympathetic magic (a phrase from anthropology) is the idea that things can magically affect each other based on their similarities. But beyond the obvious, there are also symbolic meanings. Many unrelated trees across the world happen to have dark red oozing sap, often earning them a name like "bloodwood". A straightforward use of sympathetic magic would mean it can affect blood, e.g. to stop bleeding. But symbolically, blood often means vitality, death, birth or rebirth, so that oozy tree could be thought to represent any of those things too. Learning observable facts about a plant can be a rich source of inspiration and understanding. Some things to consider: habitat, place of origin, endangered or invasive status, the wild form of a domesticated plant, gardening information, close relatives, lifecycle and seasonal cycle, and parts of interest (leaves, roots, flowers, seeds). For example, a plant well known for its flowers could have something interesting about its seeds which are usually overlooked. The internet is a bountiful source of information, as are books. Your local community likely includes many people who might be willing to pass on their knowledge, for example in local gardening or nature enthusiast clubs, nurseries, environmental groups, and cultural organisations.
You can apply a traditional method of Western astrology to make brand new correspondences to use for sympathetic magic, even with plants that have never been used this way before. This involves comparing the physical qualities of plants (shape, colour, smell, texture etc) with a list of qualities associated with each planetary energy. You might pick one or two features that stand out and concentrate on those. The planet it matches best is considered its ruling planet and will determine its magical application. It's possible for different parts of a plant to have different ruling planets, but not necessary. Common references for planetary qualities include Renaissance philosopher HC Agrippa and famous herbalist Nicholas Culpeper, but your associations may differ, or come from another system of astrology entirely. In any case, once the plant is connected to the planet, it’s also connected to everything else the planet represents. For example, if I determined that a herb in my garden had Venusian qualities, I’d consider it useful for any magic involving love, beauty, harmony or comfort. By a similar process you can assign herbs to a list of deities, zodiac signs, tarot cards, or whatever you want.
===3. Asking the plant itself===
What this looks like depends on your personal beliefs and practices. It might mean asking an individual plant or a spirit representing the whole species. It may involve trance or ritual, or be as simple as listening inwardly for an internal voice in your thoughts. Will you seek out a living plant, contact it through its dried leaves, invoke its spirit into your space or meet it in a non-physical plane? Additionally, not all communication is about sound and words. Among humans some languages are signed and some people communicate with picture boards. Images, emotion, gesture, touch, music and body language are things to consider.
In some belief systems listening to plants may be interpreted more metaphorically, involving intuition or imagination. Using intuition-enabling practices such as dream work or trance may help you to connect your accumulated knowledge to a spiritual or magical meaning. Imagination and roleplay is also a way of gaining a new perspective, such as the deep ecology practice of a psychodrama called the Council of All Beings (note that the original form was heavily influenced by misappropriated Native American practices and stereotypes).
“What [something/someone] is telling me” is a phrase that can be used literally or figuratively in English. In other languages, especially Indigenous ones, such a distinction may not exist. This use of grammar can reflect a way of thinking and relating that considers humans as one part of a whole. If you were raised in a colonial mindset, asking the plant about its correspondences (whatever form that takes) and considering the plant’s priorities can be a way of challenging that mindset by reframing the interaction as one between two beings, rather than a human acting on a passive object. To me this way of thinking invites respect and reciprocity. How you can act upon that is a topic for another post, or maybe another author.

What if Alastor had a s/o who was deaf? 🤔

You guys are gonna want to listen to that song, I don’t want to spoil it so!! Just trust me!! You’ll like it!! If you cant find the link down there.. HERE IT IS TOO~~!!  ENJOY!!!!!!! ))
((They/Them))
At first, he thought you were just ignoring him. You caught his eye standing pretty at the bar. A new resident? Oh, how exciting! He simply had to introduce himself to you. You were already quite attentive to him, falling into almost category of his type.
But when he approached and said, “Why, hello there!” And when you didn’t react, respond, or turn to face him, Alastor was a little shocked to be so blatantly ignored. His smile seemed more forced as another handful of seconds past by. That was until Husk chuckled from the other side of the bar, “You’re an idiot” he told the Radio Demon while cleaning a whiskey glass.
“Excuse me?” Alastor gave a wide eye blink with a never-fading smile. You had finally noticed someone standing behind you, only because you saw Husk’s lips move. You turned around and noticed the menacing presence of Alastor. It was hard to see, but you noticed the twitch of irritation at his brow. “They’re deaf, dumb ass.” Husk explained, seeing as he already knew you a little bit.
Ah. Well then. Alastor wasn’t sure how to respond so he just kept smiling while his eyes flicker between you and Husk. Lucky for you, you could read lips pretty well but for the most part, you depended on sign language as your preferred method of communication. You knew your voice sounded off, clumsy and slurred if you tried to speak, seeing as you couldn’t d hear yourself. You were very self-conscious about the way you sounded for a deaf person.
And yet this started the steady slow-building friendship between you and Alastor. He kept his distance for the longest time. You always felt his eyes on you though. He’d watch you sign to others. Husk knew a lot of sign language so you spent a large part of your time at the bar talking to him. Over time, as Alastor watched you from afar, he studied every hand motion, every sign and every little mannerism there was to know about you. You weren’t sure how to feel about him. The two of you never actually talked or communicated in any way shape or form. You couldn’t lie though, there was just something about him that you were drawn into, and it was hard to keep him out of your thoughts.
Weeks went by where you’d pass each other in the hallway and wave, smile, and sometimes Alastor would give you a nod of his head. He stilled watch you all the time, and he never hid it. You’d look at him from across the room and meet his gaze, then turn back and focus on whatever Charlie was saying. Five minutes would pass then you’d dash your gaze back over and see Alastor’s eyes still glued to you.
One day you were sitting by yourself at the bar. You were nose deep in a book that you couldn’t get enough off. Suddenly someone tapped on your shoulder. It took you by surprise so you let out a little and startled yelp. It was Alastor standing behind you with a smile that seemed too large for his face. His eyes had a low reddish glow to them and you could feel the static electricity wave off him in shallow pulses similar to a heartbeat. Your senses were heightened. He smelled like wild roses and what you could only assume was death. The air around him was freezing cold and extremely still.
Suddenly he gave you a formal bow. One of his hands laid across his chest while the other stretched behind him. He ducked his head down and stayed like that for a few seconds. Then he stood tall again and to your surprise, he signed “Hello,” and you watched his lips move as he said it too. Little did you know that he had kept his distance for so long because he was learning how to communicate with you. Over the weeks, he was drawn to you. The way you dressed, laughed, hummed and genuinely sought out redemption. You signed back “Hi,” while Alastor went on to say, “Our first introduction didn’t really go very well. I didn’t know you were deaf. So I’m sorry if I seemed rude,” His grin was forever wide and smeared across his face, lips moving to each word, though you couldn’t tell if he spoke them out loud or whispered them to himself. ((He was talking allowed, which caused Husk to grow irritated enough to leave the bar to restock it full of more liquor.
You signed back with a smile “I didn’t know you could use sign language,” You mouthed each word, but not a sound came from you until a soft little giggle escaped your lips. It made his dead heart twitch to life. It was almost enough to make HIM blush. The two of you instantly hit it of right there.
From that day on, Alastor was never far from you. He lingered here and near. You could always tell when he was around even if you couldn’t see him. Alastor gave off this very unique pulsing wave of electricity into the air, but not nearly enough people noticed this. When you asked Charlie if she’d ever felt it before, she had no idea what you were talking about. Angel said he felt something like that before but didn’t put it together that it may have been Alastor.
It became commonplace for Alastor to keep you company whenever he had a moment to spar. He’d ask you a lot of questions, things about yourself, your life and afterlife. He wanted to get to know you.
One day Alastor brought you into a large empty theater in the back of the Hotel. It was filled with rows and rows rotting tables with broken chairs. But a piano stood alone on the stage. He held his arm out and walk you between the rows of tables and chairs and down to the stage. You kept asking him what was going on or what he had planned, but he only smiled and told you to just wait and see.
The piano was sleek and clean. Alastor closed the lid of the grand piano and freed the keyboard from its cover. He didn’t ask or wait a second to lift you up from bridal style and place you on top of the piano. He signed, “You should lay on down for this, trust me.”
You did as told. You laid down on your back with your eyes fixed up at the rafters above the stage. While you did that, Alastor sat down in front of Piano and got ready to express himself in a way that he had not done in decades.
Suddenly you felt the vibrations of the key strings of the piano being struck at the rate of a thousand full. You’ve never felt anything like this before. You sat up enough to spin around and face Alastor. His quick fingers paused for a second or two. He wore a smile and his eyes were closed. You stared at him when suddenly his fingers smashed the keys and a loud thunderous wave of vibrations and static washed over you. The song he played was fast and you could feel every note course through your bones. There were so many emotions in this song and even though you couldn’t hear it, you could feel it.
You’ve never had the chance to experience music. It was something that always fell on dead ears. If you could have anything in the world, it would be the chance to just hear one song. It didn’t even have to be a good one. And somehow Alastor was making this possible in a way you never thought of. As he raced one, smashing key after key with such speed and aggression you couldn’t even focus on his hands. You could feel every high and low note, every note that was pressed with force or delicacy. Alastor finally started to slow down when his eyes flashed open but as soon as he did that he slammed down on the keys again and proved you wrong. He went faster and faster, staring at you the entire time with a glowing grin and flashing red eyes that somehow flicker their own light that matched the speed of his song.
The song had finally come to an end and you were moved in a way that made you emotional. Alastor leaned on an elbow while resting his cheek in his hand. You saw him mouth the word, “So?” He was asking what you thought about his little ‘surprise.’ It was amazing. It was something you had never experienced before, and that song... it was hypnotizing, intoxicating and a high you wanted to feel again if that was even possible. You first signed “That was amazing!” then signed “Thank you!” Over and over again. You felt little tears prick your eyes but they never fell.
You nearly fell off the piano while throwing your arms around Alastor. He stiffened the second you touch him, but relaxed and let you hug him. As you lingered there you did your best to pass air through your lungs and voice out, “Thank you, Al,” So that’s what your voice sounded like? There was no stopping it now. He simply adored it while finding himself liking you more and more. Alastor returned your hug and found himself getting lost in it, and not wanting to let go.

The Importance of the Past
Fandom: Legend of Zelda
Pairing:  (BOTW) Link x reader
Warnings: None I think
Genres: Barely Angst, Fluff
Summary: Link and Reader talking about what little he knows of his past, specifically Mipha. Reader offers him some much needed comfort and words of wisdom. Here are some character HC this time around. -The reader is still learning how to fight. Link is mute. The reader knows Hylian sign language, though they still have some learning to do.
Word Count: 1313
Y/N had been traveling with Link for a month or so, having lost count of the days a little after a week of adventuring. Day tracking had proved to be a complicated and, for that matter, unnecessary task. Now they focused on much more useful habits such as cooking and slightly fawning over Link whenever Y/N could. Speaking of…
Link appeared over the edge of the hill, meat in one hand and sword in the other, chopping at any vines that seemed to stand in his way. Y/N smiled and waved at him, having been left to keep an eye on the fire and let their ankle rest. Link smiled in return, sheathing his sword to take out one of his shields and use it as a resting place for the meat. He sat down on the grown beside them, glad to be off his feet for the moment.
‘How is your ankle doing?’ His hands easily formed the words, slowly his usual pace to help them read along.
“It’s doing great. And stop slowing down on my account. I need to practice. If anything I should accommodate you, not the other way around.” Y/N smiled, moving their hands along with their own speech, finding it helped them memorize the signs easier.
‘Oh, please. If I signed and my normal pace, you would never understand me. This is more me accommodating for myself so that I don’t have to repeat myself.’ He smirked lightly, laughing when Y/N thumped his arm with their fist.
“You know, you’re being a bit sassy today. What’s gotten into you, huh? Picking on me.” Y/N grinned before grabbing the meat along with a collection of seasonings and vegetables to start cooking. At this point, they were still getting used to watching him sign while doing other tasks, but they were luckily good at multitasking.
‘What can I say? You bring the sass out of me. Plus, you’re cute when you’re angry.’ Despite the confidence in his expression, his ears and cheeks still turned a light pink at his minor confession.
At this point they had already established their attraction to each other, though nothing was technically considered official just yet. With the threat of Calamity-Gannon and the unsureness behind even having a tomorrow, they were both apprehensive about how far things should be taken. This did not stop them from enjoying each other’s company and flirting.
“Cute? I’ll have you know I’m a vicious warrior with a long history of violence and other...warrior...things.” Their eyebrows furrowed together while they tried to piece together their sentence, but a smile stayed just as clear on their face as it always seemed to do when dealing with him.
‘Ah yes, warrior things. I know them well. Forgive me, oh great warrior.’
“Okay, haha, laugh it up. You know, you just wait till I’m the one saving you. Then we will see if you can keep that sarcastic face.” Y/N grinned as they flipped the meat in the pan before sitting fully back down.
‘Alright, I’ll stop teasing you for an hour. How about that?’
“Well, that is the least you can do. So where are we headed in the morning?”
‘The Zora domain. I need to get a weapon of mine fixed…’ As he signed his expression turned into one that held despondent, though towards what was still a mystery to Y/N.
“Link...You know...you can tell me anything…” Y/N’s soft expression and gentle touch to Link’s arm was meant to show comfort. They had genuine concern, noticing his change in demanor whenever the Zora would first come up. Granted the full conversations about the land and the people weren’t laced with sadness, positive memories involving his friend Sidon and fighting Lynels usually bringing him some joy. Still, that flicker of sadness was clearly there in his eyes, something that Y/N could not ignore.
‘...I don’t want to worry you with my past. Not that I even remember all of it…It’s just I lost someone.’ He tried to give them a reassuring smile which was met with a shake of Y/N’s head.
“Why don’t you tell me about them?”
‘Y/n...Um...I was...with them I don’t wan-’
Y/n grabbed his hands lightly to stop him, a smile on their face before they let go to continue their own thought.
“I figured. Don’t worry, I’m not the type of person that gets jealous over the past. I’m sure they were an amazing person and, no matter how many years pass, they will be an important part of your life...and I want to know about your life...all of it if I can.” Their smile was sheepish as their small rambling came to an end.
Link smiled and moved a hand to cup their face, a thumb rubbing over the skin there lightly. For a moment they just enjoyed each other’s quiet company, eyes focused on one another. Link slowly pulled his hands away, not wanting to let go but also wanting to communicate his thoughts.
‘Thank you...That means a lot...Her name was M.I.P.H.A. She was a princess...and was kind. Ever since I was a child she was healing my wounds and doing all she could for her people. I couldn’t save her...I couldn’t really save anyone...She um...she designed my Zora armor...The women in their line do that for the people they plan on marrying...We were close.’
“She sounds wonderful. I’m sorry things turned out the way they did. You can’t blame yourself for the loss though. No matter what, it was the fault of Gannon...not you.”
‘I know, but…still...When I took on the divine beast, Vah Ruta, I managed to free her spirit...That’s how, when I fall in battle, I can get back up so quickly...But I can’t help but think of how alone she was all those years...and the fact I can only remember somethings of our past. The feelings are there, but...all these gaps.’
“Are also things you couldn’t have helped. When you freed her...what did she tell you?”
‘She thanked me...and told me she would support me in my fight.’
“Funny...None of that sounds like her blaming you, Link.”
‘Well she is kind...I don’t think she would say that even if-’
“Don’t live your life on what if’s and re-imagining the past, Link. That will only bring more heartache and pain.” Y/n turned to the pan on the fire, checking on the meat and vegetables before turning their attention back to Link.
“Link, you’re a good man. You and the champions knew the danger and still risked it all. None of you failed. If you all failed, then we wouldn’t be working towards saving the world right now.”
‘Thank you, Y/N...Hey, when did you get so wise?’
“Well, as a child I slipped down some stairs and hit my head. I think that’s when.” Y/N joked, a wide smile on their face as they finally took the food out of the pot, handing link a plate before plating their own half.
The food was eaten in silence, both Link and Y/N lost in their own thoughts at the conversation they just had. When the food was finished and they sat it aside, Link tapped their arm to get their attention. When Y/N turned their head, they were met with chapped lips covering their own and a sense of bliss filling their mind.
Hands moved to bring them closer, one around their neck while the other rested gently on their side. Y/N returned the affection, wrapping their arms around the champion tightly. The kiss did not need to be deepened in order for either of them to get their emotions through to each other. The stopping of the world around them and the love that warmed their chest was proof enough of the love they felt. Link pulled away and rested his forehead against Y/N who happened to be grinning from ear to ear.

Quarantine Tech Tip: How to Stream Movies/Shows/Videos with Friends and Family Online (no matter how far apart you are!)
Hi, all! Coronavirus continues to sweep the world. One way to keep socializing with your friends and family is to stream content together online.
There’s a lot of different programs that allow you to watch things together in perfect synchronization, and to use text/voice chat while viewing. Some of the basic options include:
https://www.watch2gether.com/ - where you can enjoy Youtube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, and Dailymotion content together, or shop together on Amazon using an integrated chat room. It creates an instant chat/viewing room without registration.
https://www.mycircle.tv/ - where you can watch things like YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, and possibly even twitch.tv together. It creates an instant chat/viewing room without registration. You can create a whole playlist of videos to watch.
https://www.netflixparty.com/ - an extension ONLY for Chrome, which allows you to sync up your Netflix viewing with others and message together while watching. The only downside is that you must have Netflix yourself for it to work, even if you’re just the one viewing. Another issue is that you have to create a new session for each episode you watch.
https://picarto.tv/ - where you can watch artists streaming as they screenshare and work on their projects. This is not optimized for viewing shows/movies together, but I wanted to add it because it’s fun to watch people draw and interact with artists!
But what about being able to sync up over content available on Netflix, Hulu, or even videos on your own computer desktop?
Over the last couple of days, some friends and I have been testing some of the more agile programs that allow you to have greater control over the websites you can share and the ways you can interact. Those programs include:
Kast: https://kast.gg/
TwoSeven: https://twoseven.xyz/
To stream content, both of these programs require that you 1) sign up with a free account, and 2) that you use certain technology to ensure it functions:
KAST
Kast is the new version of the old Rabbit app, available at: https://kast.gg/. You can watch movies with 100+ friends online while chatting through voice/video or text. There doesn’t appear to be a limit in terms of what you can watch through this. You can share:
Your entire screen
Any application window (website tabs, desktop programs, you name it--including Netflix and other streaming services that your viewers may not have while you do)
Your webcam
Other advantages:
Kast has several personalization features and supports a lot of languages.
You can invite people by sharing a link to your party room.
Your party room is automatically private, unless you change settings to make it fully public.
You can create multiple parties to enjoy things with different people.
You can add moderators, or kick/ban/block people.
You can access a list of other people’s public parties and search by tags to find content you want.
You can use emoji reactions in chat.
You have a lot of control over how to send or receive sound.
Their privacy policy is pretty expansive with lots of ways for you to contact them.
Kast has a help desk/troubleshooting site if you need it: https://kast.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
Kast is very quick to show content (very little loading/buffering time)
Its app is optimized for either Windows or Mac.
You can download the app here (recommended): https://kast.gg/download.html
Or if you just want to view someone else’s stream, you can use the web version through a Chrome browser. If you are joining a stream, you may have to sit through a brief advertisement to gain access to the streaming room.
Kast caveats:
You have to be 13 years of age to sign up and use the app, according to Terms of Service: https://kast.gg/legal/Kast_Terms_of_Service.htm
Kast retains the right to use any of your posted content for its own self-promotion opportunities, according to its Terms of Service.
Kast screens/monitors content according to its Terms of Service, to ensure legal compliance.
Kast technical disadvantages:
You have to download the app to actively stream content. The web version does not support voice/video streaming—it just allows you to join other streams.
It might not be the most optimized for mobile use. (In testing, my friends and I struggled to get audio to work.)
You may experience some lag at random times. But in general, we had a very smooth, in-sync stream while watching most of a movie. It glitched only once and that was because the movie file itself had a glitch.
To get movie audio to play for others, your own audio settings as a streamer MUST be set to Computer Audio. So this means if you get pings on Discord, others can hear it. Ideally, you’d also want to use the text-chat function instead of voice while viewing, to avoid feedback issues.
Depending on your tech, you might experience a black-screen when trying to share something. This didn’t happen during our test while using the app and VLC Player/Youtube/Netflix, but Kast does have a troubleshooting section on their site: https://kast.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/sections/360006131691-Video-issues
TwoSeven
Another free streaming service is TwoSeven (or, 27), available at: https://twoseven.xyz.
TwoSeven is another very impressive service that is entirely based online (no app needed to stream). Once you sign up for a free account, you can easily create a room and stream content from a variety of places, including:
Youtube
Netflix
Amazon
HBO
VIMEO
Personal (files on your desktop)
Web
TwoSeven advantages:
Intuitive, simple interface that exists fully online (no downloadable app required)
Audio/text function works while viewing video content.
You can share your webcam.
Videos stream with high-quality picture.
You can toggle who is able to adjust video controls.
People who receive the link to your stream room do not need to sign up to use the interface.
TwoSeven caveats:
Minors (people under the age of 18) are prohibited in the Terms of Service from using this website.
The service reserves the right to use any of Your Content, according to the Terms and Conditions: https://twoseven.xyz/help/terms-and-conditions.html. I would assume most likely for promotion, but it’s silent on its purposes.
The website reserves the right to kick you for not complying with its rules, but it oddly doesn’t say how it would know. Odds are, it engages in some kind of monitoring/recording of content as well.
TwoSeven disadvantages:
You need to download an extension to get the website to work well with sharing online content outside of YouTube. Otherwise, you may be left in a permanent buffering purgatory.
It’s not optimized for sharing your computer screen; the Personal option requires that you upload a video to share, and the buffering for that can take several minutes.
It requires all users to have accounts on the streaming service that they're using. So if you want to watch Netflix together, each viewer will need an account (or a Netflix profile if your account supports multiple profiles).
It cannot bypass regional restrictions for video content.
We experienced an issue where audio was out of sync with visuals on longer files.
Some people experienced audio issues depending on their headset.
There is no option to make your streaming public. So you’d have to post the link in a public place to drive traffic to it.
It is not connected to any other streams, so you’re unable to join other streaming communities through TwoSeven.
Conclusion
There are always advantages or disadvantages to any service you use. I wanted to share all this to bring awareness to the possibilities, as well as their capabilities and limitations. Nothing’s ever perfect, lol. But I hope this information can help you all find the best streaming service for your interests/needs, and that streaming can help you stay connected with friends and family!
(Note: This post was made based off of personal experiences using the Kast and TwoSeven systems and others. I’m not under any incentive to market these programs, and I welcome anyone to correct or add to my suggestions. Some regions of the world may be unable to access these programs.)
Special thanks to @lunar-magnolia and @weebleswrites for helping me test and @crystal-rebellion for alerting me to the existence of TwoSeven.

uh, hi! I saw your headcanon post about deaf/hoh wizards and I really liked it! Is it ok if you did a headcanon post for autistic wizards? If you need any help with the research I’d be happy to help!
hell yeah hell yeah (my lowkey self diagnosed ass loves this ask, and it was done mostly without research bc I love interacting w/ the actually autistic community on tumblr, if only through liking posts and learning more!) (link to mentioned post about deaf/hoh wizards!)
Lots of autistic wizards pick elemental schools or balance!!! If they choose one of the spiritual schools, they tend to take a secondary in an elemental!
Nolan Stormgate is autistic, and as I’ve said, can get this hc from my cold dead hands, etc,
If you think they don’t randomly exhibit echolalia while trying to remember spell names you’re wrong! Staring at like, a flash card or a deck of spell cards and muttering the names/a syllable of the name happens often.
Some pets can be trained as service animals!!! My autistic oc morae has a pet orthrus that’s trained to help her, and I’d imagine a lot of other pets can be trained as well!!
They organize their spell decks Their Way and honestly why would you ever mess with it unless you wanted to face Wrath or Tears. (I personally would go by color, because I’m Like That.)
Many autistic wizards from Earth find that the other worlds in the Spiral are much easier to exist in!! Less loud noises and bright, flashing lights, less constant societal pressure. (Unless your world happens to be under attack by magical forces, but what can you do, y’know?)
Stimming with magic so totally happens!! Flappy hands resulting in pretty little sparks of magic in their school/favorite colors! Specialized amulets that are spelled to help calm people down when chewed on, specifically for that kind of stimming!
They do the ‘idle animation’ action much more often than the average wizard to be honest.
I have headcanoned the multiple sign languages in the Spiral, and here it is again, because nonverbal autistic people exist!! hello!!
Hyperfixations on a school of magic!! On a specific spell and how it works, or on these brand new worlds and their forgotten histories!! This is all there and awesome!! Maybe they find an obscure branch of magic that saves the Spiral’s collective butt one day just because their brain grabbed onto like, ancient runes, and refused to let it go for four months.
Older autistic students will help younger ones adjust if they’re unfamiliar with Ravenwood!! They have a lil club/charity for funding resources for autistic students!!
Magic becomes another sense, and it can become too much as well! Sensory overload can happen when too many spells are cast at once, because it connects to a wizard’s magic, and that can be draining to experience too much at once, and could cause a meltdown.
Same with too little sensory experience at once!! They will idly cast less damaging spells, maybe even keeping the creature around, just to feel magic, like when you make sounds just to hear something, or when you move your fingers just to feel something different, y’know!
They can be your heroes!! They can quest and fight with the best of them!! Autism is just something they have, they are not their neurodivergence, they are a person as well!! They could come in a multitude of genders, sexualities, races, ethnicities, sizes, shapes, whatever!!! They are all not to be underestimated, and being autistic could be their strength one day, but it is never a weakness!
