------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The anger boiled up inside your chest as you stormed your way across the lobby. Hundreds of different Spider-Man variants were scattered across the area, some more injured than the others. It sickened you sometimes. How he had so many people under his grasp and just decided to throw some of them at the walls sometimes, not caring how hard they hit the floor because they were all just ammo to him. How despite his denials of it, that’s probably what your role was to him as well. Nothing more than a bullet in his massive machine gun.
You normally tried not to think about it, how his determination towards his goal sometimes meant lack of care for others. But this time he had just gone too far. You always had a soft spot for Miles, watching closely on him whenever Miguel would let you go though scanners of all the different variants. You admired his struggle, but eventual success to taking up the previous Peter’s mantle, and always hated how Miguel talked about him. You knew there was no way Miles could’ve asked for any of this. For the pressures and struggles of being a Spider-Man, for everything causing such a strained relationship with his parents, for the death of his uncle, and for what will be the eventual death of his father. You definitely didn’t.
Tumblr media
Ok lets do this one last time. Eh, whatever, there’s probably gonna be 50 other introductions after this one so it doesn’t really matter.
Being Earth-837’s Spider-Man has never been easy. Especially since you were bit when you were only 13 (another reason you sympathized with Miles and Gwen). Your life had followed the order of canon events to a perfect T, your older brother killed in a fight with a robber only two months after you were bit. You tried to overcome the burden of your powers by trying to live as normal of a teenage life as possible, but it was mostly in vain, having to give up multiple friendships and relationships in fear of those you love getting hurt. This was only elevated when your boyfriend Peter was murdered in the crossfire of an encounter with Doc Ock. You didn’t understand. You couldn’t. What you had done to deserve all of this. All you did was just be in the wrong place at the wrong time. You wonder sometimes what would happen if someone was in the same place you were when you got bit. If someone else went to the closed down area of that museum and ran into that spider. That stupid spider that ruined your life. Those thoughts slowly started to disappear for a bit. For a few years things were easy. Things seemed like they were finally going in your favor.
You were 25 when it happened. The last canon event. Ever since you were a little girl you hated your mother’s job. Losing nights of sleep over if she would come home or not. She always did though. She was good at her job. Too good though. Good enough to get promoted to police captain, which for who you were, was basically sealing her fate. She saved so many people that day. You were too busy fighting Venom to notice how much collateral damage you were causing in the process. Your mother’s job was to evacuate all the citizens away from the fight. She died shielding a child from incoming debris. A noble way to go. But god was it gruesome. You found her after the fight was over, two metal poles impaling her. One through her stomach and one straight through her face, pools of blood growing bigger below her as she was left there, all the paramedics busy trying to save the heavily injured. You froze when you finally recognized her, unable to at first due to how mutilated her face was from the pole. Suddenly, you were transported back to being a six year old, falling asleep outside the door to your mother’s bedroom so you would know exactly when she would come home. Purposefully falling asleep in her arms so that she couldn’t go anywhere.
When you used the key she had given you to get into her apartment that night, and you slept in her room, desperate to intake anything left of her before she was fully gone. You doused yourself in her perfume so it still felt like she was standing right behind you. You had always loved her smell. The smell of vanilla, curl product, and fancy perfume. They were attached to memories you had of her. Trying on her heels when you were a kid to try and be fancy like her. Smelling her hair in the morning before school to comfort you before she left for work. Despite all of this bringing you comfort, all it really did was cause further denial in your heart. That one day you were gonna hear the keys clacking in the keyhole to your apartment one more time. That’s all you really wanted. You would give everything up in a heartbeat just to hear her police scanner go off one last time. But it wasn’t going to. And it was your fault. Deep down you knew it was. You should’ve done a better job controlling the debris. You had always been a messy fighter, but you didn’t know it was going to mean anything until it was too late.
How you got up to the top of that building is still a blur to you to this day. But next thing you know, you were looking at the New York City skyline from the very top of the Empire State Building. And at the very edge too. You heard some sounds behind you, but you just decided it was the wind howling from how high up you were. You were just so tired. Everything and everyone you loved was cursed all because of you. And with your mother as the most recent victim, you decided you finally had enough. You took a deep breath, eyes overflowed with water, as you set your foot forward.
Your plummet was interrupted by a sudden contact you felt to your forearm. Shock filled your body as you turned around to look at what had stopped your attempt. The blue hand was massive, nearly wrapping back around onto itself as it held onto you for dear life. You finally looked up at face that the hand belonged to. The mask that covered the massive figure was a strange one. Blue with strange red silhouettes for the eyes. It kind of reminded you of…your own costume? That couldn’t be though there was no way. This must be the afterlife or something. You already jumped and that's why you didn’t remember your way up to the top. This was some kind of creature trying to stop you from jumping down to hell below. His breaths were heavy and loud, almost like he was desperate to stop you. This convinced you that this was real, which caused you to try to escape from his grip. He was stronger than you, and was putting up a huge fight. You were slick though. Once you were out of his hand, you closed your eyes and quickly made your jump. Everything flashed before your eyes. Your brother, Peter, your mom. You were hoping to see them soon. This was very quickly interrupted again when you suddenly stopped falling. Something had attached itself to your stomach. You opened your eyes. A web? This web was much different than yours though. It was glowing a bright, neon orange.
The man was holding onto the end of it tightly with both hands. His mask then disappeared to show his face. His was long, matching how big the rest of his body was, defined cheek bones sticking out. Brown wavy hair slicked back with a few loose strands flying out in the wind. The look of desperation on his face stook out most of all. Why did he care so much? He didn’t know you, and you definitely didn’t know him. “Let me pull you up. Please,” he said to you between shaky pants. You stared at him for a bit before nodding. He slowly pulled you up with the string of his web, each move more careful than the last. As soon as your feet were planted safely back on the roof of the building, he wrapped you up in his massive arms. You appreciated the gesture, but you didn’t return it, still very confused about why he was so concerned. He was so big around your body though, you couldn’t help but feel a little comforted, feeling his still shaky breaths against the hairs of your neck. Soon after, he clicked on some buttons on his neon orange watch and led you into a portal.
Tumblr media
The rest is history. You’re grateful he found you that day. It allowed you to meet so many people, Peter B., Jess, Gwen, Hobie, Ben, Pavitr, Margo. They all related to you and you felt like you could share things with them that you couldn’t do with anyone else. You had grown especially close to Peter and Jess, both of them having been in the game for a long time, just like you. They both knew how you felt, having lost so much and growing so tired after so many years. Peter even named you as Mayday’s godmother when she was born, a gesture that caused you to nearly kill him with your hug. Miguel though was different. He wasn’t nearly as social as the rest of your friends, but you found yourself having much more intimate moments with him (in more ways then one). You eventually found out why Miguel was so concerned for you the day you met. He had taken interest in your abilities early into looking for variants for his little “project”, but refrained from roping you into something so dangerous while you were still in your teens.
Once you were old enough though, he started paying more and more attention, hoping to catch you in a fight and recruit you then. But he was always pulled away with more important duties to attend to. That was until he witnessed your canon event. He had seen it happen so many times before through his scanners. It was going to happen. It had to in order for your universe to not collapse in on itself. But for some reason, yours hurt more than the rest to him. Especially how you coped with it. Seeing you wrap yourself up in her blankets and clothes broke his heart. He knew where this would lead to. That’s why he was there that day. To save you. He had to, or he wouldn’t be able to forgive himself. You got your own watch immediately, along with your own room in the Spider Society headquarters. He stayed close with you for the first month of you being a member of the team. When he wasn’t out on missions, he was with you. You didn’t really know what to label you two as, but whatever was going on, you liked it. And he did too.
That is until Miles came into the picture. Once Miles was bit, all hell broke loose for Miguel. He was always in some alternate dimension catching some Spider-Man villain who got out and rangled them back over here, falling back over to you more beat up and bruised than the last time. You couldn’t imagine how much stress he was under, the fate of the entire multiverse up to him. You had some ways of helping him relieve his stress, but you wish you could convince him that he wasn’t alone in this. But nothing ever got through to him. He had become distant, aloof even. You tried bringing it up to Jess every so often, but she would just brush it off.
“That’s how he’s always been.” Not to you he hasn’t. This week has been hell though. With Spot making it over to Miles, Miguel had been going into rages all week. You had put up with it for now, but that was all about to stop. Watching how harsh he was being on Miles, throwing so many Spider-Men at an innocent boy, risking all of their lives in the process. Disregarding everything Gwen and Peter were feeling and then throwing Gwen back into her broken world with nothing. He had gone too far. No one else was going to stand up to him about it, so you knew it had to be you. Maybe he would listen, maybe he wouldn’t. It didn’t really matter. He just needed to hear it.
“It’s not worth it you know.” The voice snapped you out of your thoughts, stopping you in your tracks. “You know how stubborn he gets over these things,” said Jess, trying to convince you to save your breath. “I don’t care. I have to at least try,” you responded, monotonically. “I just don’t understand how you can follow him so blindly and not see what he’s doing is wrong.” “Because he isn’t wrong. I don’t know about you, but I’m not just gonna stand by and let some kid’s stupid decisions destroy another Earth,” Jess argued. “He’s just trying to save his dad, I can’t understand how that makes him such a bad person,” you said, finally turning around to face her, shocked when she was closer to you than expected.
“You know exactly why. Don’t be so naive, y/n,” she shot back. “You can’t stop me,” you said staring straight into her. She shrugged. “Then I can’t help you.” She began to walk away. You did to, until you heard her say. “You don’t know how much he cares for you.” You turned around to face her again, but her back was still to you, her head tilted ever so slightly to look at you. “If you really do care for the kid, watch what you say to Miguel right now. Cause you might just give him the final push he needs to do what needs to be done.” You didn’t give her a response, and just simply kept walking. You felt Jess’ eyes on your back as you entered the elevator to get up to Miguel’s office.
The elevator ride up felt longer than it should’ve, as you tried to gather all of your thoughts and emotions together so even if he didn’t listen, your words would still stick with him in some way. You didn’t necessarily want to hurt him (though your fists were telling you otherwise), but you did want him to be aware of what he’s done. Once the doors finally opened, all of that work flew out the window as rage took over your body again, seeing Miguel up there looking at the scanners. The fact that he looked just as normal as he always does made you furious. It’s like nothing happened.
“You know, I could hear you coming in from the lobby,” he said, almost stopping you in your tracks. You hated when he did that. Claiming that he knew what your every move was going to be. Like you were under his control or something. “Yeah, well then you must’ve heard me talking to Jess, which means you know exactly what this is about,” you shot back, stopping to where you could see him perched up there. “Why don’t you just save me the conversation about morality and just come up here and kick my ass already. It’ll save both of us time,” he said, not even taking his eyes off the scanners to look down at you. This only added to your fury. “That’s not what I’m here for Miguel, so don’t you dare try to twist my words here. What you did to that kid was fucked up and you know it.” “Oh yeah, then why didn’t you try to do anything to stop me?” he questioned.
“Because I’m not stupid Miguel. I’m not gonna try to take down hundreds of Spider-Men at once.” “Oh, cause you’re so much better than that?” This wasn’t like him at all. That gentle, kind, and caring Miguel you once knew was gone, taken over by some sort of personal vendetta he had against Miles. “Listen, I don’t know what’s going on with you, but this all needs to stop before it gets taken too far. You’re getting into a fight you can’t win. That kid’s strong and so are his allies. And if you go any further into this, I won’t be here to help you.” He stayed still and only turned his head to look at you. “And what makes you think that you’re so important to my plan that it’ll fall apart if you leave? Have you really become that pretentious?”
Your body froze. Have I really? No no no, that’s exactly what he wants. If you begin to doubt yourself now, you’ll stay and nothing will change. You knew you were right. He was trying to crumble you down, but you wouldn’t let that happen. “And you really think that one kid is going to ruin something that you’ve been working for for years? How insecure you’ve become.” “You have no idea what you’re talking about,” he said, turning back away from you. You did the same, wiping off your face in anger. “I hate it when you do tha-,” you said as you turned back around, but were cut off to find Miguel standing there right in front of you. He was close. Too close to your liking, although in any other circumstance you would’ve found this attractive.
He tilted his head up, but his eyes were down staring daggers into yours. You hated how much he tried to make himself seem more superior to you. “You have no idea what you’re talking about,” he repeated, this time slower as if you were a child. “He’s just a kid Miguel,” you said in a low, quiet voice. “An anomaly. And a dangerous one at that.” “God Miguel, all he wants to do is protect his dad, do you know how insane you sound right now?” you said letting out a slight laugh when you finished. You backed away from him a little. “He doesn’t know how much damage he’ll do with this. Saving his father will only prolong the inevitable. His world will be gone within hours if he does this. All I’m trying to do is make him understand,” he tried to explain. “By trying to kill him.” “You always have to exaggerate the situation,” he said palming his face. “But that’s essentially what you’re trying to do isn’t it? Why not snuff out the problem entirely by taking him out!”
He signed and began to walk away while you were talking, bringing up your anger even more. “Yeah, use all the power you’ve accumulated over the years and just take out the small problem! Except this isn’t just a fly on the wall Miguel. This is a child! An innocent boy who didn’t ask for any of this to happen to him, just like how we didn’t. I get it, I’m sorry that this job is stressful, I really am. But that gives you zero right to act the way you are!” You were screaming at him at this point. You didn’t want to. You didn’t want your emotions to get the best of you. But he was being too stubborn. This was the only way you thought you could get to him. You might not have wanted to, but you needed to hurt him now. It was the only way.
“You can’t be so power blind that you refused to accept the fact that there could be a way around Captain Davis’ death. You said we saved Earth’s before, I’m sure we could do it again.” Your anger only kept rising when he kept walking away and didn’t respond. “This is a personal thing isn’t it?” you asked calmly. You knew it was working now when he stopped walking. “Yeah, it it. You won’t let Miles get his happy ending. Because why should he be pardoned of his burden while the rest of us have suffered so much. While you’ve suffered so much.” The answer to your question was confirmed when Miguel stayed silent. “Just because you didn’t get the life you wanted Miguel, doesn’t mean you have the right to stop other people from getting theirs.”
You knew you overstepped the line when Miguel turned around and started walking towards you, fury burning in his crimson eyes. “Yeah, so what! What if that is what this is all about! You should know better than anyone how much this job takes away from you!” he screamed at you, backing you up into a wall. “Why should he get to be let off so easily, while people like you and me have to suffer so much? Don’t try to turn me into the villain here when I know you’re thinking the exact same thing, y/n.” He wasn’t entirely wrong. You had wondered it at some points. “I won’t let you turn this onto me Miguel, this is about you,” you fired back. “Oh no, you’re not getting off that easily. I know you’re thinking it. And you’re right. Why should Miles get let off so easily when you’ve lost so much.” He held your hands in his, trying to connect to you. “And you have mi vida. You’ve had so much taken from you and it’s unfair. Why should he only have lost one person when you’ve had three taken from you. Your brother, Peter, your moth-.”
He was cut off by your hand striking against his face in a harsh blow. “If you’re smart, and I know you are, you’ll keep those three out of them. I won’t let you drag their names through the dirt for something as stupid as this.” You both stood there for a while, both of your eyes looking towards the ground, hoping it would open up to swallow you both as an escape from this god awful conversation. You never wanted it to come to this. In all honesty, you cared for Miguel. You might’ve even loved him, if you were even capable of doing such a thing. You hoped he felt the same way about you, but in a job like this, he always had at least one wall up around you. It just wasn’t worth it anymore. You were too tired to keep trying for something that was most likely going to fall apart in the end.
“You’re still going after him aren’t you?” you asked, finally breaking the silence. Miguel looked back up at you. “You can’t ask me not to. You know better than anyone why this is so important to me.” He moved his hand up to cup your cheek and kissed your forehead gently. You let it sit there for a minute out of habit before pushing it off your face. “And you must know why I can’t stay anymore then.” His shoulders dropped. “Whatever this thing between us is. It’s over. I can’t stay beside someone who can’t see what he’s doing is wrong.” Miguel’s dropped hand turned into a fist of anger. “Fine,” he spat in your face. “I don’t need someone like you in my way. You’re just a liability to this anyways.” He began to walk away from you back to his scanners. “Just don’t come crying back over to me when your little plan doesn’t work out, cause I won’t help you.” He used his webs to pull himself back up to the platform to keep looking for Miles. You stood there for a second, gathering yourself.
Five years. Out the door just like that. It bewildered you how easily a bond like you two had could be broken all because of one teenager. You began to make your way for the door before you said. “When this is all over…don’t try to find me.” He didn’t respond. Once the elevator doors opened, you rushed inside, desperate to get away from him. So many thoughts rushed through your head as the doors closed and you sunk down back to the lobby to leave. You didn’t have much of a plan. This could end up being a horrible idea. Your gut told you it was the right thing to do though. And that was enough for you. You walked out of the headquarters lobby with a new heart and a new mind, ready to take action for your new plan.
First though, you had to find Gwen.

oooo okay omg imagine lyla knows miguel likes you. he won’t admit it but he does. and she purposely downloads this ‘love meter software. and whenever miguel talks to you at hq, the meter goes like “warning: you have reached maximum love limit, love overflowing” and red lights start flashing and everybody starts panicking 😭😭😭
OMG this reminds of “operation: true love” on webtoon 🤭🤭!!
lyla is known to be silly and eccentric at times always knowing how to rile miguel up or use things she knows about him against him just for the fun of it. we know that lyla likes to take pictures of miguel with filters + recording him at his most embarrassing moments.
lyla is smart, obviously an AI, who you would think wouldn’t have a personality or feeling emotions but she does. she has a mind of her own. miguel had confided in her that he had a crush on you. “oh my god! no way miguel~ who knew you were capable of such feelings!” she said snickering while she had secretly recorded their conversation maybe to one day show you proof that miguel had also liked you back. lyla is the confidant of the both of you. she knows you like him but miguel doesn’t know that you like him back. so she had devised this plan in hopes miguel and you got the memo.
she had installed a software called “love meter” secretly behind miguel’s back. one day she wanted to do a test run on the software as you were present, chatting up with miguel in the control room. miles, gwen, pavitr, hobie, and margo were messing around in the background while letting you and miguel talk.
“warning: you have reached maximum love limit, love overflowing” it appeared on all the screens of the control room, which indicated miguel’s heart beat was rising by just being near you. the little love meter was at 100. the alarm then resounded throughout the HQ, as red flashing lights flickered throughout the entire multi-sectioned building.
everyone’s heads quickly turned towards miguel and you. miguel was about to speak but was soon got off by the gang’s comments and laughter. you couldn’t help but stare at miguel feeling your cheeks heat up feeling a tad bit shy. you were genuinely shocked by the turn of evidentes.
“i knew he had a crush on y/n!” gwen laughed while pointing a finger at miguel. hobie would definitely chime in as well, “who knew the big boss man is whipped for you,” directing his voice at you. miles and margo, laughed, literally everyone did while pav went up to miguel and you saying he had sensed the romantic tension from a mile away.
“LYLA! what did you do!?” miguel said embarrassed while he was BEET RED. he was really flustered. he was caught red handed and he wasn’t sure if you were about to reject him on the spot or not.
“sorry pal! i didn’t know it would do that…” lyla nervously giggled while she glanced at you then at miguel. you couldn’t help but laugh at the whole situation because of the way the other spider people came bustling in the control room thinking it was a problem. of course, it wasn’t it was just very hilarious to you that you found out that miguel has a crush on you TOO.
“guys-um, it isn’t an emergency—just go back to whatever you were doing.” he said as he stumbled over his words and told everyone to leave. he wasn’t necessarily mad but he was more so embarrassed. everyone was dismissed even your favorite teenagers had all
left but they respected your privacy. miguel would shake his head as he ran his hands through his hair directly his attention to you but not being able to hold eye contact. quickly, lyla vanished into thin air but she could still hear everything.
“i’m sorry about what lyla did.” he came close to you as he placed an apologetic hand on your shoulder with a gentle touch. you could tell he was blushing. you could tell he was into you in the way his eyes would casually go to you lips then to your eyes. he did it a couple times.
“it’s fine miguel,” you inches closer to him closing the distance between the two of you, “i wanted to tell you that i also like you too!” you giggled while you made it your effort to maintain eye contact with him. you were a very shy person but you weren’t one to stumble on your words. miguel was dumbfounded but at the same time very relief that you liked him back too.
“you like me too??” he gently stroked your cheek, “you like someone like me?” you heart aches a bit whenever he would put himself down like that as if he felt he was incapable of being loved. you gently placed a hand on top of the hand he was caressing your cheek with as you leaned into his touch.
“miguel, of course. you’re capable of being cared for, thought of, and loved.” you embraced him as you wrapped your arms around his waist. he was stunned a bit not knowing what to do since he hasn’t hugged someone in such a long time. but slowly and carefully he wrapped his arms around your upper shoulders as he placed his chin on top of your head. with one hand he carded your hair lovingly, “i promise to be the best man i can be for you, if you allow me to.”
“yes of course.” everyone in the HQ was so happy for you and they were also happy that miguel’s behavior improved drastically for the better, all thanks to you.

____________________________________________
A heavy breath leaves your lungs; sitting on a piece of rubble, you stare at the anomaly being taken away by another spider back to HQ. On a mission like this one, an anomaly of this low stature wouldn’t make you sweat. But for some reason, you had a hard time defeating it.
Peter B comes up to you, lending you a hand. You gladly take it rising from your makeshift seat. After walking through the portal back to HQ, Peter puts his hand on your shoulder, stopping you.
“Are you feeling alright, Y/n?” Peter looked concerned about your tired complexion.
“I’m fine. I must not have slept well last night. But thanks for checking in and for your help with the mission.”
“No problem. Are you reporting back to Miguel?”
“Yeah. I should tell him about the mission getting out of hand. I’ll see you around.” You wave goodbye before making your way to Miguel’s office. When reporting missions that didn’t go exactly to plan, spiders asked you to report to Miguel.
Before you began dating him 6 months ago, you still had a close relationship with him. Ever since he recruited you, he’s had a soft spot for you, never once getting mad with you.
Walking into his “lair,” as most spiders called it, you tried to shoot up a web to him, but your web shooter malfunctioned.
Miguel jumped down from the platform, walking towards you. His gaze crossed your entire body, checking to see if you were hurt.
“I heard the mission went a bit south.” Miguel wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you against his chest. He lifted your chin and leaned down to kiss your lips lovingly. You wrapped your arms around his neck, lifting your toes to press deeper into the kiss. Breaking apart, you caress his cheek as he leans into your touch.
“Yeah, I needed to call backup. The anomaly was more to handle than I thought. I’m not sure why. I just don’t feel my best today.”
“How about we get some delicious empanadas near my apartment and watch a movie. How does that sound? We can leave right now if you want?” A smile graces his lips as he gazes at you with so much love waiting for your response. You smile back at him as your e/c meets his mahogany eyes. You were the only person to see his true eye color.
“That sounds perfect.”
Pressing a few buttons on his watch, Miguel opens the portal back to his universe. The two of you walk through, entering an ally a block away from Miguel’s place. Both of your suits dissolve underneath casual clothing hiding underneath.
The two of you walked into the little store that sold the best empanadas in all of Nueva York, as Miguel had told you multiple times.
“Miguel! Mi cliente favorito. Cómo te va?” An older woman walked around the counter, hugging Miguel, which he gladly accepted.
“Estoy bien. Y usted?” Miguel said as he led you fully into the store. You loved seeing this side of Miguel. He only revealed his true warm side when he was back in his world or alone with you on missions or at HQ.
“I’m doing good. Business is good. And who is this gorgeous woman by your side Miguel?” The woman looks at you with a bright smile. You look up at Miguel as he looks down at you with a smile.
“This is Y/n. My girlfriend.” Miguel’s response made the woman beam with joy as she hugged you.
“It’s so nice to meet you, Y/n. It’s so nice for Miguel to find such a nice woman as you. The usual order Miguel?” The woman returns behind the counter, grabs a box, and puts in empanadas.
“Sí, plus a few extra.”
“Of course!” She adds a few more before handing them to you. Miguel pays her before adding $500 to the tip jar. The woman looks astounded and takes the money out, trying to return it to him. He closes her hand, pushing gently back towards her.
“Miguel, this is too much.”
“Nonsense. You make the best empanadas in all of Nueva York.” The woman hugs Miguel again as tears brim her eyes.
“Thank you so much. You truly are a good man Miguel.”
“Until next time!” He waved goodbye before leading you out of the store.
Miguel opened the door, letting you go first before making your way to the kitchen, setting the empanadas down on the counter. Miguel places both arms at your sides, trapping you against the counter. You turn to face him, leaning back a bit against the counter. Hands run up his chest and wrap around his neck. You run your hands through his hair as he leans his back, enjoying the sensation of your hands through his hair.
He leaned down, lips centimeters from yours. His gaze goes to your lips, his eyes starving for your touch. You give him a quick kiss.
“Let’s choose something to watch.”
“Yeah.” Miguel calms down his breathing before letting you go. The two of you grab an empanada and head to the living room as you get comfy on the couch, putting a blanket over the both of you. You rest your head against him.
Almost halfway into the movie, your gaze is directed toward Miguel as he stares ahead. He shifts slightly, uncomfortable. Your gaze falls down to his lap, where a tent appears. Sliding a hand to his lap, you pull down his sweats, setting him free as you give him a handjob.
Miguel’s head leans back, a groan escaping his lips.
“Y/n” You continue your movements as you feel your hand getting covered in precum.
“You like that?” You lean towards him as you kiss his neck towards his lips, where he hungrily captures yours.
“I need more of you, mi vida.” He groaned before removing the blanket. He grabbed you by the waist, sitting you on his lap as he ripped your panties off, thrusting himself fully into your wet folds.
“Those were my favorite.” You moaned out. A pout was on your face before Miguel captured your lips.
“I’ll buy you all the new pairs you want,” Miguel whispered into your ear as he thrust his hips into you.
“Miggy!” Your moans grew louder as his pace quickened, sending you into euphoria.
You awake from your bed in a sweaty state, your breath uneven. Sitting up from your bed, you place your head against your knee as you calm your heart. Why that memory again? You’ve had that same memory plague your dreams for the past week.
Looking at your phone, it was 8 am. You get up from your bed and go to the room next to you. Opening the door, you walk up to the small race car bed. Leaning down, you brush the dark brown hair from your son’s face and press a kiss to his forehead.
You watch his eyes flutter open, his big brown eyes tiredly staring at you.
“Good morning.” You say, gazing at your five-year-old as he wakes up. He jumps into your arms as you pick him up.
“Are you excited for today? It’s your first day of kindergarten!”
“Yes!” His arms went up in excitement. You set him down as you grab the outfit you prepared for him today. After the both of you got dressed, you went to the kitchen to start breakfast.
“What would you like?”
“Pancakes! With chocolate chips!”
“How about pancakes with blueberries? Make it a bit healthier.” You suggest as you already begin making the batter.
“I love blueberries!” He cheered.
You place the small pancakes in front of him as you finish getting ready in your room. After you finish putting on your makeup, you see your son walk in with a face covered with syrup. You chuckle at the cute site as you get up and bring her to the bathroom to wipe her face and hands.
“Mommy, can you do my hair how I like it?”
“Of course!”
You set her on the bathroom counter as you brush his hair. You combed your fingers through his hair. You look at him through the mirror. Distinct brown hair and eyes. Warm honey-toned skin. He was the spitting image of his father.
It’s been almost six years since you last saw him. Ever since that fateful day, you wonder if you made the right decision. But he made it clear to you.
“Mommy?” You’re brought out of your thoughts.
“Sorry, sweetie.” You finish the combing his hair. You grab your purse and his brand-new fire truck backpack. Grabbing his hand, you walk out the door and towards the school.
Arriving at the school, you walk through the front doors to his classroom. You see the other 5-year-olds entering the classroom or clinging to their parents. Arriving at the door, you see the teacher come out.
“Hi! My name is Ms. Williams. And who might this be?”
“This is Mateo (L/n). Say hi, Mateo.” You say to your son, who clings to you. Hiding his face behind your leg.
“Hi.” Mateo slowly waves to the teacher. Ms. Williams holds out her hand toward Mateo. Mateo looks up to you as you smile.
“It’s ok, Mateo. Go make some friends. Mommy will be here to pick you up in a few hours.”
“Promise?” He holds his pinky out to you, which you hook with yours.
“Promise.” Mateo smiles at you before taking his teacher’s hand, walking him into the room. He turned to wave goodbye before disappearing into the room.
A tear escapes you as you wipe it away. You couldn’t believe he was already 5. It went by so fast.
After drying your tears, you make it back to your apartment. Sitting at your desk in your bedroom, you stare at the drafted article before you. Since you quit Spider Society, you got your job back as a journalist.
Your mind drifts off from the work before you.
Sitting on the edge of the toilet seat, you stare down at the small object in your hands.
Two lines. These two lines answer the question that was in the back of your mind all day.
You were pregnant. Your body jumps up when you hear someone walk into the bathroom. Unlocking the door to the stall, you quickly wash your hands and clean off the stick before hiding it in a secret pocket of your spider suit.
A beep from your watch tells you to go to Miguel’s office. Miguel… what would he think? You rush out of the bathroom and towards his office.
Ben Reilly and Jess are talking with Miguel about a mission. Standing next to Miguel as he continues talking. However, everything he said was unheard as your thoughts raced.
“Y/n?” You came back to reality as Miguel placed his hand on your shoulder.
“Yep! Understood.” You say, hoping he didn’t notice you drifting off into space. Miguel dismisses Ben and Jess as he turns to face you.
“Is everything ok?” His eyes grew concerned as you weren’t your usual happy self. You decided not to tell him yet. You were too nervous to tell him. Since movie night, Miguel has been nonstop busy and stressed from work. You didn’t feel you should stress him out more with your news.
And it’s only been 6 months since you started dating. You didn’t know if he wanted children, especially after what happened to his daughter.
“Yeah! I’m good. Just tired. So my mind is a bit off.”
“How about you go home and rest. I’ll do the mission with Jess and Ben.”
“It’s ok. I can still go on the mission.” You try to reason with him.
“No mi amor. Go home and rest. I don’t want you getting hurt on the mission if you’re tired.” You decided to listen to him as he would not change his mind.
“Ok, fine. See you later tonight.” You give him a kiss before saying goodbye.
“You’re 2 months pregnant.”
The doctor’s words shocked you. You didn’t think you were that far along. It’s only been two weeks since you found out you were pregnant.
After leaving the doctor’s office, you head back to HQ. Going to the doctor at HQ was free, but you knew word would get back to Miguel, as everyone knew you two were in a relationship.
Spider HQ felt off today as barely anyone was here. You go to Miguel’s office but find all the lights turned off except one of his monitors.
Miguel sat in his chair, his head resting in his hand. He looked so sad. You never had seen him this way before.
“Miguel?” You walk closer to him, resting a hand on his shoulder. You look at the monitor. It was a video of him and his daughter.
“Y/n? I thought you weren’t coming in today.”
“I wasn’t. But I’ve barely seen you for the past two weeks. I wanted to just check in on you.” He moved his chair to face you. As he opens his arms to you, you sit in his lap. Wrapping his arms tight around you, he nestled his head in your neck. You comb your fingers through his hair to help comfort him.
“Today’s her birthday.” He mumbled against your skin. His words clenched at your heart.
“Miguel…” You lifted his chin to look at you as you softly caressed his cheek. He leans into your hand, looking at you with red eyes. Not his normal ruby red, but red from tears.
“She would have been ten this year.” A tear slipped from his eye, trailing down his cheek, which you gently wiped away. You never have seen him in such a vulnerable state before. It made your heart break seeing him like this.
Would it be ok to tell him now about the pregnancy? To try and lift his spirits? Maybe it was too sudden. It was Gabriella’s birthday, after all.
“The thought of having another child is unbearable. I couldn’t handle the pain again if something happened.”
His words shattered you. He didn’t want to have more kids. You placed a hand on your stomach. It would be pointless to tell him. He didn’t want to be a father again.
His watch suddenly beeped, indicating that there was an anomaly he needed to deal with.
“Maybe you should let someone else do the mission.” You got up from his lap as he continued to sit in the chair.
“No, I’ll do it. He stands from his chair as he opens the portal. Before he leaves, you gently grab his arm.
“I can go with you.” He smiles at you as he brushes some of your hair behind your ear.
“I’m going to do this one myself, Hermosa.”
“Oh, ok. Be safe.” You say before he walks into the portal.
You gaze at the surroundings of HQ, seeing various spiders interacting with one another. Ever since Gabriella’s birthday, you’ve barely seen Miguel. He buried himself in work. You tried several times to see him, but he was so distant from you that you decided to stop visiting him.
That was a month ago. Now 3 months pregnant, you have a baby bump, so when you came into HQ today, you decided to wear casual clothes that hid your bump. For what you’re about to do. You didn’t want anyone to know, especially Miguel.
Anxiety blossomed at the bottom of your stomach as you walked to his office. Were you being selfish? Maybe you should wait until he’s better. But time would run out in 6 months, and you didn’t want to face the truth of him rejecting his child. You wouldn’t be able to bear it.
You reach his office, where he talks to Peter B. and Jess about past missions. The three turn when they notice your presence.
“Y/n! It’s been so long! You’ve barely been to HQ this past month!” Said Peter as he went to hug you. You quickly give him a side hug so he wouldn’t find out your little secret. Peter gave you a confused look at your gesture but decided to ignore it.
Your gaze shifts to Miguel as he looks back at you. He’s barely seen you this month. Longer even.
“Jess, Peter. Is it ok if I talk privately with Miguel for a few minutes?” Your serious tone makes the two briefly look at Miguel and back at you before leaving his office.
Miguel walks up to you and places his hands around your waist.
“Is everything alright, cariño?” His gaze turned serious when you didn’t wrap your arms around him like you used to. Bile felt like it was threatening to come out of your throat. Not from the pregnancy. But what you were dreading telling him the past few days.
“I’m quitting Spider Society.” His eyes widened slightly before worry and confusion replaced them.
“What for?”
“Other life commitments need my attention back in my universe.”
“Like what?” He pushed you to tell him.
“Just other things.” You can see hurt in his eyes by your answer.
“You don’t have to quit. You can take a break if you need it.” He suggested.
“No, I’m sure of my decision.”
“Fine. But we’ll talk about it later. I don’t think you should quit. You’re an amazing Spiderwoman. I’ll come over after work with some food.” He wasn’t happy about your answer, but he let it slide.
“Miguel…” His heart dropped when you moved out of his arms.
“I have loved every second we’ve spent together…”
“Y/n?” You held up your hand to stop him from talking to let you finish. Tears began to threaten to spill out.
“But our lives are starting to go in different directions. I think we should stop seeing each other.” Tears spilled down your cheeks as you saw how hurt he looked. You felt terrible.
“Mi amor…” He tries to caress your cheek, but you move your face away, breaking him further.
“It’s for the best, Miguel. I hope you find someone who brings you happiness and love.” You turn away from him. But he grabs you by the arm and pulls you into an embrace. He kisses gently up your neck.
“You brought me that. I’ve never been happier in my life when I’m with you. Please don’t leave me.”
You wanted to melt into his arms and forget everything you said. But you couldn’t let your guard down. Removing his arms from your waist, you walk away from him. You turn to look at him one more time.
“Goodbye, Miguel.”
Tears fall onto your computer as you relive those memories. Even after five years, the look in his eyes broke you. Your heart still aches for him. There were times when you thought of reaching out. But you remembered he never came to your universe to fight for you both. To say he wouldn’t accept you breaking up with him.
You knew you told him it was over. But you still hoped he would run after you. Looking at the time on your computer, you realize you need to pick up Mateo.
You wipe your tears before grabbing your wallet, phone, and keys. As you were about to open the door, you heard a knock. Your spider-sense was going off, which you didn’t know why.
Slowly you open the door. The air from your lungs briefly left you as you dropped everything in your hand.
“Miguel?”

Wake up. Do the mission. Go to school. Sleep. Repeat.

Wake up.

Your heart drops as the grip on your web slips, any remaining strength in your body dispersing despite your instinct to shoot another.
"Someone catch me," You breathe out, eyes fluttering shut as you brace yourself for impact. Just my luck, you think before passing out.
------
Murmurs. It's the first thing you pick on as you regain consciousness. Your eyelids feel heavy, and even the slightest movement sends a sharp pain throughout your spine. Ultimately, it is useless trying to move. The urge to groan is strong yet unattainable. You can't help but think of the long and agonizing recovery waiting for you.
"She's been punished enough," A harsh whisper echoes from a distance, "Just look at her."
Your brows twitch as you strain yourself to focus. Just where were you? And why did your body feel...? A jolt of panic forces your eyes to open, bright lights swarming your vision and making them squint. You take deep breaths as you assess your surroundings - The infirmary.
A scoff catches your attention from outside the door. Two shadows, Jessica and Miguel, were in a heated argument. Their words reach your ears, albeit in fragments.
"You should be glad I didn't kick her out altogether," Miguel argues quietly from the other end. "She knew what she signed up for the moment she joined."
"You and I both know this isn't what she signed up for," Jessica bristled.
There's a brief pause, and then Jessica enters the room with a small smile. Your eyes briefly meet Miguel's. The man stood there with an unsympathetic gaze, eyes slightly narrowing as they scanned you. Without so much acknowledgment, he leaves.
"Ignore him," Jessica hums. "How are you feeling?"
"Like I became one with the ground," You croak with a small laugh. "I guess no one caught me," You pout, more so grimace.
"Sorry about that, hun. By the time we noticed, you were already out of reach. Hobie somehow managed to brace your impact with his webs."
You nod. "Any serious damage?"
"None, other than a minor concussion and a sore body," Jessica replies, looking over your chart. "You need to rest." She eyes you sternly.
"Kind of hard when your boss has a vendetta against you," You grimace, sitting up.
"I'm aware he's out of line-"
"Is he?" You close your eyes, pushing yourself off the bed. "Somehow, the more I end up here, the less sympathy I have for myself," You remove the IV attached to your hand. "A couple of concussions doesn't even begin to make up for my mistake. If we can even call it that."
You change into your suit and begin to head out.
"Where are you going?" Jessica questions behind you.
You pull on your mask while opening a portal. "Part-time, remember. The last thing I need is someone else nagging me."
Arriving at your job, the lab director nods in your direction as you take place behind your station. With one headphone on, you immerse yourself in work. Somehow you manage to find solace and relaxation in the tasks at hand.
Your soft hums resonate throughout the room, time progressively passing, and your mind drifting. You reflect on the repetitive nature of your life — wake up, mission, school, sleep, repeat. How many more times were you going to push yourself to exhaustion? The last time your body gave out in a mission, you had risked endangering Gwen. Working for the team was becoming increasingly difficult. More so working for him.
Lately, it was like clockwork. Mission after mission, no matter how many you completed or how many reports you submitted, there would always be another. And another. And another. And well, you know how routines work.
You joined the organization being made fully aware of how things ran around HQ. And who ran things around HQ. Miguel hadn't been the one to recruit you; Hobie did. The anarchic spider had taken quite a liking toward you -- your abilities in particular. With one mischievous grin, Hobie brought you to Earth-928, handing you over to Jessica Drew like some new toy before leaving to do his 'own thing'.
Things were honestly going fine for you at HQ. More and more Spider-people continued to join, and you couldn't have asked for better mentors (and friends) while becoming part of this society. Everything had been so exciting, so liberating.
And then... and then your eighth mission happened. Earth-12131. Scorpion from Earth-1610 had appeared in that universe. Though difficult, the mission had been going according to plan; you and Gwen were in charge of capturing the anomaly while Pavitr aided and rescued endangered citizens. Between the three, you had webbed Scorpion against a wall, minimizing any attack they had planned.
What wasn't anticipated was the multiple shards of glass coming down from the roof to cut through the webbing. Scorpion's tail had quickly knocked you off your feet, its stinger immediately targeting your watch. Things progressively got worse after that.
A broken watch meant unstable atoms, unstable atoms meant unavoidable glitching, which you did -- badly. As Gwen and Pavitr handled the anomaly, you attempted to regain yourself, fingers working rapidly to repair the watch. That is until you glitched again, your very being reacting with the electromagnetism of the device. Any control you held over your abilities at that moment vanished, twisted hallucinations and sensory delusions falling prey to those unfortunate within proximity.
You had sensed everything, from the nightmarish visions that developed from people's fears to the suffocating darkness that overwhelmed them due to the oppressive void that robbed them of sight, sound, and touch.
Fifteen people died that day.
Gwen and Pavitr had barely managed to fight off the disorienting effect before coming to your rescue after capturing the anomaly. This mission marked you for the rest of your stay at HQ.
"Y/N?"
You physically jerk at the sound of your name, your body reacting to the sudden interruption. Upon realization, you address your boss, hands instinctively setting down the tools you'd been holding.
"You can leave now," They tilt their head toward the clock. "It's already past nine."
Your eyes slightly widen, "Right! Yeah - sorry, I'll be going now." You rush to say, hurriedly packing your belongings.
"Goodnight, Y/N."
"Goodnight, Professor!"
Exiting the building, you can't help but rub your tired eyes. You contemplate the choice of whether to head back to your shared dorm or your very own personal quarters at HQ.
You snort. "HQ for sure," You mutter, preparing to open a portal.
Just as you're about to, an incoming call from Lyla interrupts you. You answer with a tired smile. "Please don't tell me I have another mission waiting for me," You groan, energy already draining.
She laughs, pink shades sliding down to throw you a wink. "Nope!" She envelops you with a portal of her own. "Miguel wants to see you."
What? "What?" You voice out loud, already regretting your choices. "Lyla I don't think-"
"Be there tomorrow early morning!" She salutes you before disappearing.
You stand there, mouth slightly agape. Nothing about what Lyla said left you feeling at ease. If anything, you were positive another fainting episode was about to happen. Deep breaths, you remind yourself.
With a mixture of uncertainty and exhaustion, you head to your room for a few hours of sleep, hoping to be prepared for whatever awaits you when you meet Miguel in the morning. If Miguel wanted to see you, he would see you. Just not defenseless.
At least he won't kill you, right?... Right?

Part Two | Part Three |
[A/N] - Well... I hope that was alright. Please feel free to message me what you think so far, or comment!
I know it's kind of short but I want to gauge people's reactions first to see whether it's worth continuing. Anyways thx!

Headcanons to Miguel O'Hara x Spider-Woman Reader:
WARNINGS: Fluff, a few dirty jokes (if you're not 18+, please don't read this post), a few mentions of death, etc.
AUTHOR'S NOTE: Before everyone reads this, I just want to say that the timeline begins way before ATSV. Like, it starts around the same time as the Miguel O'Hara we see in the SATSV credit scene. Also yes, the dirty jokes might have been a little unnecessary but I couldn't help myself, it was literally right there! And I wanted to make this longer but I'll just continue it with a part II instead. :)
MASTERLIST: Feel free to check out my other works! :)
Tumblr media
On the day you had met Miguel O'Hara, you felt relieved and lucky to have another superhero alongside you. Not just because you are the clumsiest spider woman to probably ever live and needed some help before you get into an accident from slipping becuse of a banana or a bag or had fallen down multiple times during a fight for no reason at all. Seriously, it's not your fault. You either have bad luck or just have really bad balance but either way, meeting Miguel O'Hara for the first time had assured you that you weren't the only one going through everything you have endured as a superhero.
You were a loner practically because of your secret life. You were aware of the dangers that could happen to you and to those you tell your secrets to, so you decided to keep your mouth shut on it until Miguel came along.
Miguel was a little awkward but quite nice to you during your first meeting after he had helped you defeat a Doctor Octavius who was not from your dimension. Miguel explained to you about the multiverse and how people like the Doctor Octavius who came to your dimension are called anomalies and his plans to create a team of spider people to keep the universe in balance. You were a little reluctant to join at first because let's face it, you already have a lot of trouble keeping your own dimension's villain in place and you didn't want to burden Miguel either, but eventually, you agreed.
Miguel said so himself that he had only recently found a way to go to other dimensions but it's a little tricky and because of it, the team was still small and consisted only of a few members, including Miguel, you, another spider woman named Jessica Drew who's a total badass and a Peter Benjamin Parker who looks quire similar to your old college friend, Peter Parker but that's a story for another time.
In almost all of your missions, you were paired up with Miguel. You've went on a few missions with Peter and Jess too, but you worked mostly with Miguel and actually got bonded well with him. At first you two got along over your love for empanadas and although you were under the impression that Miguel might be a humourless, stoic guy, you were met with the complete opposite. Sure, he can be serious at times but he was also funny and casual and loves to joke with you in his own sarcastic way.
Miguel trained you as well. Whenever you made a mistake during training or during the missions, he would help teach you a move or two to help improve your skill and you've always appreciated that, especially when you noticed how he was using his free time to train you, outside of working hours, even when the sun was already setting.
Since the two of you are practically partners-in-crime at work or sometimes jokingly called work wife and work husband by Peter and Jess, you would be around each other most of the time. While Miguel would be busy finishing an invention in his lab, a watch that's supposed to bring you to any dimension you want and stops the person wearing them from glitching, you were busy watching for any anomalies that might pop up in the dimensions. Miguel insisted for you to do it near him, so that way he could glance at the screens every once in a while too when he stops momentarily for a break.
You were the one to always remind him to eat, either bringing him some homemade empanadas, which became his personal favourite ever since he took the first bite but he'll never admit it to you , for lunch or lasagna for dinner. It became a habit at that point and you end up bringing two homemade dishes instead of one to work. The first time you gave him some of your homemade food, Miguel was insistent to pay you back somehow, though it was hard for him to resist any of the food you give him. Either out of hunger or just because his tongue loves the way all the food you bring tastes. And technically, it's not the only thing his tongue loves to taste if you swing in the right direction and put enough courage to it. ;)
However, when you were secretly watching Miguel— yes, you're quite nosy — as he took over to check for any anomalies on the screens, you couldn't help but notice that he would always look to a particular dimension. You weren't sure which dimension it is, but you knew that the Miguel O'Hara in that dimension has a daughter named Gabriella. You caught him looking over to that dimension a couple more times but dismissed it to be nothing and decided to mind your own business on it.
You only began to become suspicious when Miguel didn't come to his missions or even come to Spider Society. Miguel had managed to recruit a lot more spider variants but it was very unlike him to not be present in the team. Out of everyone, Miguel was the one who insisted for Jess, Peter and you to work just as hard when the team was still little. And the times Miguel did come for missions or to make an invention, he would always be in a hurry, as if he had some other businese to attend to.
Miguel could also be a bit unfocus at times. One time, you noticed him staring at a file about a mission report and tried to ask him an absurd question. "Miguel?" "Hm?" "Is it alright if I redecorate the whole office and cover it with hot pink glitter and rainbows?" "Sure, as long as you think it's benefical for the mission."
You were of course a little very hurt by his frequent absence but you didn't want to immediately confront him about it. You knew how hard it was for Miguel to manage a whole team, especially one that's growing rapidly by the day, so you tried to be understanding and stayed quiet about it.
That was until one day, you had enough. Your patience could only go so far and that thin line broke when Miguel had suddenly left during an important mission. The mission was a success and you managed to take down the anomaly, but after the fight, you were left with a severely broken arm. When Miguel received news about your state, he quickly went over to the infirmary where you were being treated at. You were silent the whole time he was apologizing to you for abruptly leaving and began tending to your arm instead of the spider healer that had been assigned to you.
Miguel had stuck around, bringing in snacks and drinks to comfort you during your time in the infirmary until the sun went down. He used the excuse that he needed to do check the multiverse for any activities of an anomaly. However, you knew that wasn't the case and right after he left the infirmary, you soon followed after him, making sure to be careful and silent with your steps.
When Miguel had arrived to his office, you noticed him using his newest invention, the watch that allows anyone to go to another dimension, and witnessed firsthand as he disappeared into a portal. You managed to slip into the portal but since you weren't thinking things through, you had completely forgotten that the portals were often opened from the sky, and with that broken arm of yours, it's no wonder you might get more injuries from the fall. Thankfully though, your instincts kicked in and it was around night time as well, so you managed to stick your webs to the building before you hit the ground and without anyone noticing you.
After landing on the ground, you were eventually able to follow Miguel again but turned confused when you saw him going into a house that you were unfamiliar with. You had been to Miguel's universe before and knew what his home looked like in Nueva York, but you were not in Miguel's universe and the house he had went to looked less extravagant than the penthouse he had let you stayed in for the night, which you promised to yourself to never discuss it with anyone.
You observed from a far distance to ensure that Miguel wouldn't catch you and watched as he climbed into the window on the second floor of the house and you began to get doubtful of your suspicions, wonderinv if perhaps he was just on a secret mission you didn't know about. Miguel tends to be secretive at times.
An old lady soon stepped out of the house, seemingly a neighbour, but what shocked you was that when the house door opened for the old lady to go out, you saw a glimpse of Miguel with Gabriella.
You froze in your spot for some time, completely dumbstruck by the revelation. When you finally snapped out of your trance, you noticed Miguel and Gabriella watching a soccer match on the television, actively cheering for their favourite team with popcorn and sodas. You were amused slightly at the sight but not so much with the idea of what exactly was happening at that moment because as far as you know, Miguel never had a daughter to begin with in his own dimension.
So, to be sure, you went back to headquarters and checked the backgrounde of both Gabriella's and Miguel's universes. With Lyla's help, you found out that Gabriella's father, the Miguel O'Hara in her universe, had been killed several weeks ago— the exact same time your well, not your your Miguel became more absent in the Spider Society. It was a canon event and nothing could be done to prevent it or else it could have caused chaos. You became suspicious and after checking his watch's history, you discovered ghat Miguel had went to Gabriella's dimension during the important mission and he had also went there multiple times during his frequent absence at work.
You confronted Miguel about it after you had gathered all of the evidence to prove what he had been up to the past several weeks. You didn't want to be harsh but you knew you needed to be upfront about it, knowing how Miguel is like. It wasn't much of a confrontation but you had asked him for his side of the story. You wanted to hear his reasons.
Miguel explained to you that he wanted to raise Gabriella for the time being until he can find a suitable guardian for her since Gabriella's father was raising her by himself without her mother nor grandparents. Miguel didn't want Gabriella to know that her father had been killed either since it would distress her, so he had secretly been living as the Miguel O'Hara in that universe. You understood his reasons, of course, but you warned him that if he doesn't find a guardian for Gabriella soon, there will be consequences for both him and Gabriella's universe.
Even after you had warned him, Miguel still kept on going to Gabriella's universe, but he was a little more present at work as well. You avoided Miguel as much as you could at work, finding it to be ironic that the man who was dedicated to protecting the multiverse was also about to disrupt another universe's canon. However, you couldn't blame him either. Gabriella is his own child in another universe and having to go through a parent's death is already hard enough as it is, especially at a young age. Miguel was trying to protect her from that pain as long as he could until he was able to find a suitable guardian for her, which is really hard since before her father's death, Gabriella lived alone with her father and had no other family. From the universe's data, her mother had left after she had given birth to Gabriella and Gabriella's grandparents from Miguel's side had already died while Gabriella's mother's family wanted nothing to do with them.
Although you understood his reasons for continuing, you still feared of the consequences that might come to Miguel and Gabriella, so after your missions, you would go to Gabriella's dimension and watched over her from a distance to check if there were any glitches or potential dangers around her, even when Miguel was not around her. Miguel noticed it eventually, but instead of scolding or confronting you about it, he introduced you to Gabriella and told her that you're "Papa's good friend from work".
Gabriella was shy and quiet when you first met her, but after meeting her a few more times, she slowly opened up and revealed her curious side to you. Gabriella is quite adorable and would sometimes aske you questions about her father and how close the two of you are. You didn't find it odd, especially since Gabriella's father probably didn't bring any of his friends back home to meet Gabriella, and answered all of Gabriella's questions with enthusiasm.
At first, you only wanted to meet Gabriella a couple times just so that you knew what she is like, but you weren't able to say no when Gabriella had asked if you could go to her soccer match on Thursday with big, wide eyes. Okay, you admit you have a soft spot for children but how can anyone blame you for saying yes when an adorable kid asks you to go to their soccer match looking all excited?
You ended up going to Gabriella's soccer match and Miguel was a little smug that you came, especially since you didn't really want to get too attached to Gabriella, but Miguel didn't comment anything about it and just bought you some snacks for the soccer match while you two cheer for Gabriella. She was so excited when she realized that you came and hugged you tightly after she had won the match, though Gabriella turned a little sad when you had to leave. In order to cheer her up, you made a pinky promise to Gabriella that she will see you soon enough.

The Anomaly: 2
Tumblr media
Prologue Chapter 1
Pairing: Miguel O’Hara x f!Original Character Rating: Mature Length: 1.4K Summary: Nobody gets the upper hand on Spider-Man 2099. Nobody, until a strange anomaly slipped from his grasp. Now, he’ll stop at nothing until he finds her. Warnings: enemies to lovers, eventual smut, cannon typical violence, graphic depictions of violence, Miguel is a bitch but so is she, cursing, angst, etc. trauma
The scent of cold rain flooded the basement as Miguel opened a portal back to Nueva York. The faint moonlight outside leaked through the thin windows that looked out at the streets above, illuminating the anomaly’s face. Miguel approached the bleeding figure on the ground, finally getting a closer look at her face. She had to be a little younger than he was, with skin so pale it looked like she’d never seen the sun before. Constellations of freckles cascaded from her cheeks to her neck, creating patterns that matched the soft curves of her face.
Retracting his claws, Miguel pushed a stray curl of red wine colored hair from her complexion, exposing more of her appearance. As much as he denied it, upon first glance, she was painstakingly beautiful. But, her beauty meant nothing to him. Pulling out a pair of electro-charged handcuffs, Miguel restrained her wrists before lifting her bridal style and carrying her through the portal.
He had half a mind to snap her day pass, being as she managed to disable the tracking device. Even still, the idea of punishing her with glitching was inhumane, even for him. But, the minute he stepped into his office in HQ, he swapped her jailbroken day pass for another, tracking device intact. She wouldn’t slip through his fingers again.
It bothered Miguel that he didn’t know what it was about her that made her such a challenge. Once he caught her unsuspecting, he was able to overpower her easily. But, what she lacked in comparison when it came to brawn, she made up for in quick thinking and agility. That made her dangerous.
Miguel nonchalantly placed her on a chair in his office, pushing her limp head to the side as he examined the bite marks he left on her neck. They weren’t healing like he assumed they would. Over the time he’s run the HQ, he encountered hundreds of thousands of spider-people. One thing they all shared was quick rehabilitation. He’s left bite marks on dozens of unruly variants, but they always closed up and healed within minutes. Most of the time, at least. But the anomaly’s neck was still bleeding, even when he held a cloth to the marks to stop it. Her blood stained his suit blending with the red accents he wore. Eventually, he gave up on trying and used gauze to tape onto the wound before lying her on the floor, removing the cuffs, and encasing her in a red prison.
“Miguel,” Lyla said, her form hovering over his wrist. “We have no way to run a diagnostic on her unless we get her down to Spider-Byte.”
“The venom should be wearing off soon anyway. I’ll figure it out,” he grunted, moving to remove Lyla’s hologram. Her voice stopped him.
“Did you really have to bite her?” she asked, raising an accusatory brow.
“Yes.”
“Who’d he bite this time,” sighed Jess, catching sight of the maskless girl on the floor. “Oo, is this the girl who finally bested you? I wanna thank her for the shot to your ego.”
“I don’t appreciate your quips, Drew,” snapped Miguel with a glare. “And clearly she didn’t best me because I’m not the one unconscious on the floor at the moment.”
“What did she even do?”
There was a beat of silence before Lyla confirmed what Jess was thinking. “We don’t know yet.”
“Yes, we do,” Miguel snapped. “She is an anomaly. Somehow, she managed to hitch a ride here, steal a watch and hack a day pass. She’s been universe-hopping ever since, until I put a stop to it.” His eyes trailed down to the limp figure on the floor, his mind flooding with unanswered questions.
“I mean, if she was able to get away from you on all those occasions, then maybe that would make her a valuable asset to the league,” offered Jess with a shrug.
Miguel’s crimson eyes widened in disbelief. “There’s no way this anomaly is coming anywhere near the league. She’s nothing but trouble. Not to mention, we don’t know anything about her.”
“Then ask.”
“No.” He approached Jess, his tone dropping whatever kindness there was as he towered over her. “I don’t remember giving you permission to make decisions. You answer to me, Jessica.” She didn’t argue it any further after that.
*~*
The drumming in Madelynn’s head was a steady pulse. Although it hurt to move, she slowly realized that she regained control over her muscles again, first twitching her fingers, then rolling her feet. Her already ruined suit was again crunchy with dried blood, the metallic scent piercing her nose with a foul sting. Her shaking hand shot to her neck, feeling around to find the bite marks 2099 left on her neck. Her fingers graced the reddened gauze over the wound, grasping at the edges to peel it up.
“I wouldn’t take that off, if I were you,” someone droned behind her, but she didn’t drop her hand. 2099. She began to sit up, taking in the situation around her as she opened her eyes. The room wasn’t bright by any means, but the strain on her pupils sent a shockwave of pain to her head. What hurt the most was the glow of the red prison she was encased in. Turning around, she saw 2099’s touring figure looming over orange holograms, his broad shoulders blocking the majority of the displays. He didn’t even bother to look back at her.
“You know, usually when I’m pinned to the wall and bitten, I appreciate being taken out to dinner first,” she grumbled, stretching out her aching joints. “There’s always next time though. I don’t need anything fancy, but it’s the thought that counts.”
“There won’t be a next time,” 2099 snapped, running a hand through his disheveled hair. “You’re not getting away this time.”
“I wouldn’t be so certain about that,” Madelynn said emptily. To be transparent, she had no idea what her next move was. She had been able to avoid 2099 through sheer luck and nimble skills, but now she has nowhere to run.
2099 turned around sharply, stepping off the platform with the holograms and swiftly stomping towards her prison on the floor. His stature was painfully impressive, looming over her like a wild animal stalking its prey. “If you run, I will catch you. If you hide, I will find you. No matter what universe you flee too, what corner you think is safe, I will be there. Nowhere is safe from me. So escape if you want, but I strongly advise against it.” His voice was nothing more than a low growl, only slightly louder than the humming of the electric prison he put her in.
“So why am I not with the other anomalies?” she asked, staring up at 2099. “I don’t trust this.”
“Good thing I never cared about whether you trust me or not.” 2099 crouched down to meet her level on the ground. “Besides, I have a few questions for you.” Her gazes met, and in his eyes, all Madelynn saw was rage that boiled in his blood-red pupils. But she knew his type. She knew a Spider-man like him before. Now, she knew how to get out.
“Ask away.”
“What is your universe of origin?” 2099 interrogated, standing and walking back towards his set up.
“That’s classified.”
“What’s your name?”
“Classified,” she responded again, watching 2099’s muscles tense through his suit.
“When were you bitt-”
“Also classified, sorry.”
2099 grabbed a computer monitor and hurled it across the room, and Madelynn grinned to herself as the plastic pieces shattered, spreading across the floor like a sick confetti. Now was her time to strike. Feeling around the waistband of her suit, Madelynn grasped at the needle stored in her utility belt. 2099 clearly wasn’t smart enough to check her for weapons. He stormed over to her prison on the floor, ripping through the red forcefield as if it was paper. His clawed hands wrapped around her neck, cutting off her airways. This was a long shot, but it had to work. If she was wrong, then there was no way out.
“Miguel,” she choked out, and immediately, his face shifted from that of rage to confusion. “Miguel, please,” she pleaded. His grip loosened slightly, his crimson eyes burning through her’s.
“What did you just call me?” he seethed, unsteadiness leaking into his strong voice. Madelynn gripped the needle in her hand, uncapping the end slowly before whipping her arm up and around, plunging the shining metal into 2099’s neck.
“A sucker,” she grinned as his hands dropped from her neck, crimson eyes fluttering shut as his body slammed to the ground with a massive thud. Slipping through the opening he left in the red prison, Madelynn ran, ignoring the pain coursing through her veins.

Being the Bubbly new Spider-Hero
You’re a new spider-hero at the Spider Society who was recruited by Jess Drew and you easily caught Miguel’s eye . . . but for the wrong reasons. You were quite bubbly and excited, enjoying being a spider-hero and to work at the Spider Society. This was quite a contrast to Miguel’s nature, as he almost didn’t enjoy being a hero. He liked helping people, but with the events that led to it which included losing his daughter . . . It was difficult for him. You were difficult for him.
When you messed up on a mission, Miguel got his chance to unleash his ever-building frustration as he dug into you. He was harsher than he should’ve been, bringing up your flaws and ripping into you. He was so harsh that he brought tears to your eyes. You were ashamed and unhappy.
Miguel knew the instant you left that he had gone too far. His brooding nature that kept him from doing anything at first. He sat by himself for a while and for once, LYLA stopped being snarky with him and tried to help. She really liked you.
He got his opportunity when you were hospitalized at another mission gone wrong. When you woke up to see him by your side, you thought he was going to critique you again and you began to apologize. Much to your confusion, he was quick to shush you, saying he was here to be with you and see how you were. You were bewildered and caught off guard. He began to apologize for his behavior and opened up about his past in a way that he never had before. Something about you made him feel safe to be vulnerable around.
You were still a little wary (as you had every right to be), but you wanted to hear him out. It was going to be a slow process to fully forgive him, but you wanted to try. There was just something alluring about him . . .

The Lady of Moonlight Garden
☾description: (Miguel O’hara x F. Reader) Gwen and Miles find a mystery famous portrait in Miguel’s Office
☾a/n: I was watching Hotel transylvania as one does AND I GOT MEGA INSPIRATION for this…NOT EDITED
☾song inspiration: el muchacho de los ojos tristes
☾warning: umm mentions of fire and death
Tumblr media
“Woah what is this place?” Miles swung down as he shockingly took in interior. A room fitted with cozy furniture surrounded him along with stacks of unorganized mission reports. Everything seemed to homey to be part of the high tech building.
“I think this is boss man’s office.” Gwen answered back, she quietly walked across the room to see what was behind the cluttered desk.
Serval gadgets laid exposed on the table with wires peaking out or dented metal fractures. Pens were left bent and ink less leaving only faded little scribbles on the corner of the pieces of paper. Folders upon folders laid stacked up on one another all with different years and made up scientific words.
“Gwen,” Miles called out to her, in front of him hung a giant portrait of a woman. Her smile was permanently frozen in time, savoring the moment of true happiness. Her arms were halfway raised, yet what she was holding was blocked out by an old, red fabric.
“She looks familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it.” Gwen squinted her eyes trying to see if any memories of the beautiful woman popped up.
“I think I remember her,” Miles stated as he took off his mask. “The Lady of Moonlight Garden, there was a memorial site for her.” He leaned in closer to take in her features. The smoothness of her skin and the faint hue of pink staining her cheeks lured him back into his memories.
“I remember the story now.” Gwen mumbled out in shock as the flashbacks of her school field trip came rushing towards her in heavy blows.
“I don’t really recall how went,” Miles scratched his neck as he suddenly regretted not paying attention to his teacher during the lecture.
“The Lady of Moonlight Garden, the story goes that a lonely hero met her by chance, and they say that no two souls were ever more meant for each other.” Gwen took off her mask, she remembered how the story made her tear up at the end.
“Eventually they settled down in the Moonlight Gardens, and had a child. But then, a horrible tragedy happened.” Miles turned to face Gwen, noticing how her eyes seemed glossy and how she began to sniffle lightly.
“A fire started mysterious one night, and it killed all of them.” Gwen quickly wiped away a fallen tear before continuing. “When I was at the memorial site at the garden I could still feel their love for one another. My teacher said it’s as if a soul is still trapped in the ruins themselves.” Miles was about to comfort Gwen when an unexpected voice commented.
“The story is wrong.” Both Gwen and Miles turned around to see tall man appear out of the shadows. His cold exterior dropped into one that relinquished high tension.
Slowly Miguel walked over to the portrait in large strides. Gwen and Miles parted ways, allowing the once intimated man to pass, not wanting to cause anymore damage then needed.
He reached out to grab the dusty fabric, his claws breaking through leaving five holes for him to stitch up later. “It was only the wife and child that died.” He whispered, forcefully pulling down the fabric causing dust to fill the air.
Both teenagers began coughing trying to swish away the dirt particles, only to be left wide eye at the seen in front of them. There stood the smiling woman holding a happy baby girl, but that wasn’t what shocked them the most. It was the person towards the right of the photo that caused them to shiver in guilt. There stood Miguel - a happier Miguel who didn’t hold the rigid personality and seriousness that current him had.
“I’m so sorry-“ Miles tried to say before getting cut off.
“It wasn’t an accident that caused the fire.” Miguel stated, never once turning back to face them. He didn’t even know why he was admitting this to them. “They were murdered in the dead of night, holding one another as the fire killed them alive.”
“We are very sorry-“ Gwen tried to apologize, but Miles just placed a hand on her shoulder shaking his head down. They should have never came here. They should have never even looked at the portrait.
Tension filled the room to the brim making it seem almost impossible to breath. After a couple of minutes, the moment of silence was finally broken.
“Leave.” Miguel whispered angrily, “LEAVE!” He turned around screaming at the kids. His eyes turned red and his fanged pierced with venom.
Both teens ran out of the room muttering finale apologizes, before leaving the once again lonely hero to himself.

ATTENTION EVERYONE!!!
Whoever ship some fucked up OTPs, you need psych evaluations. Seriously, when I was adding related tags in my upcoming posts I saw something I wish it never exists.
What kind of sick people who ships an adult with a minor?
I don’t care if you, the degenerates, the creeps, the p*dos, use the “They’re fictional characters” excuse. That reflects your screwed up desires! Nobody on this site wants to see that mess and you’re all holding responsible for posting such content.
Those tags better die soon before any damages are widespread.

Miguel O’Hara x spidey!reader
| fluff reader tends to Miguel’s wounds after they get back from fighting crime|
Y’all I’m so sorry if this is bad it’s my first time writing😭 pls leave feedback tell me what I should do or fix🙏🏼
Miguel was fighting crime like he always did making sure the city was safe and protected and y/n was there right by his side making a great partner. After a long night of fighting crime you were left to clean up his wound because who would? While tending to him he looked at you while you were carefully treating him standing between his legs he sees how beautiful your eyes were and how soft and plumps your lips are. Miguel takes your hands into his “what is it?” You asked Miguel just couldn’t hold back he craved to have this moment with you for a long go time now. he brought his hand up to the back of your neck and his other to the side of your face. You looked at him and wandering what was gonna happen next you scanned his face from his eyes then to his lips he leaned I. And connected his lips your yours, wrapping your arms around his neck and one of your hands made it’s way to his hair tugging it lightly which made Miguel moan “Dios, no sabes cuánto tiempo quise esto... te quise“(god you don't know how long i wanted this...wanted you) he started at you with love and hunger in his eyes and he couldn’t wait to mark you as his and let everyone know that your his.

✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
how you met miguel was the fact that he miraculously stumbled upon your dimension when he began to travel through the multiverse. you were the first spider-woman he had encountered and it was love at first sight for miguel. he had fallen for you first then you fell in love with him over the course of being by his side during inter-dimensional travels. miguel confessed his love for you and you reciprocated his feelings, and sooner rather than later you both tied the knot—it was a small but a very pretty ceremony. together, you and miguel founded the spider society.
miguel made you his wife and his partner in missions always having you by his side…he never wanted anything bad to happen to you. he felt more at ease that as his wife you could be with him 24/7 and keep an eye out for you. miguel is completely enamored by your strength, skill, and fierce nature, admiring your abilities as a complete badass. he idolizes and worships the ground you walk on, always agreeing with you and standing by your side, completely whipped for you. you were his girl and his darling, of course he would never want to lose you. he’d do anything to make you happy.
“i love you so much, sweetheart.”
“i love you more, miguel.”
it would be moments like those were you both exchanges words of love for one another during missions or when you both work along side each other at the spider society. he’s captivated by your fluid movements, your strategic thinking, and the sheer power you exude. he feels an overwhelming surge of pride and love as he witnesses the intense battles that you fearlessly dive into.
miguel never misses an opportunity to support you and ensure your safety during these missions. he’ll have your back without hesitation, utilizing his own unique abilities to provide cover or diversion, always placing you well-being as his top priority.
as you fight side by side, miguel can't help but feel a mix of emotions: admiration for your strength, pride in your accomplishments, and an overpowering love that permeates every aspect of your partnership. he considers himself blessed to share his life and collaborate with someone as capable and extraordinary as his wife.
your shared experiences and your unwavering dedication to one another have forged a bond that surpasses any obstacle in your path. it’s a connection built on trust, respect, and an unbreakable love that miguel cherishes deeply.
in the dynamic between the two of you, miguel’s admiration for you as his wife is boundless, extending beyond just your fighting skills. he views you as his equal, his partner, and his inspiration. he respects your opinions and values your thoughts, often finding himself agreeing with your perspective because he has complete faith in your better judgment.
your relationship is a balance of intense passion, unwavering support, and a profound love that shapes your every interaction. together, you both navigate the intricacies of your missions, driven by a shared purpose and an unbreakable bond that allows both of you to face any challenge that comes their way.
miguel’s love for you as his wife knows no bounds, and he takes every opportunity to express it in his actions, his words, and the way he reveres you as you both embark on their joint journey within the spider society. miguel and you are unstoppable and nobody will threaten to come between the two of you.

____________________________________________
The orange and white monitors flickered between worlds as red irises scanned the various universes. His eyes calm down to his normal mahogany brown as he gazes at the various photos and videos of you and him.
Almost six years since he last held you in his arms. Last time he heard your sweet voice. How your laughter filled a room. When he pleasured you, your moaning was music to his ears.
His tired gaze stared at a video of you and him when the both of you went to the beach. You held the phone as it faced the two of you, sitting between his legs, resting against his chest. His lips twitched upwards into a small smile as he watched you change the filters from bunny ears to kitty ears on both of you. He rolled his eyes in the video at your cute antics as he held you in his arms, giving you a loving kiss on the cheek before the video ended.
Every moment he thinks of you reminds him of how much he messed up. Why did he distance himself from you? If he only opened up to you like you tried to do multiple times. He pushed you further away until he couldn’t shatter your heart into smaller pieces.
He wished he had run after you. He wished he had gone to your earth and pleaded for you to stay with him. But after you ended things, he broke down and drowned himself in work.
“Miguel?” Jess walked in.
“What?” He lightly snapped, not wanting to be disturbed.
“I’m taking Gwen on her first mission. I was just checking in to see if her watch is ready.” Jess swung up to his platform to grab the watch.
“Make sure she doesn’t break it again.” Miguel tossed it to her, which she caught with ease. Jess glanced at the monitor of you and him. A sigh escaped her lips.
“I’ll make sure she doesn’t. How about you come on this mission with us? Show Gwen some of your skills.”
“I’m busy monitoring the multiverse. I can’t be bothered with menial missions just to teach a rookie a few tricks.” He rolled his eyes.
“I thought you would be interested in going on this specific mission because we’ll be going to y/n’s Earth.” Jess jumped down as she began to walk out.
“What did you say?” Miguel snapped as he turned around and jumped down, walking right up to her.
“I just thought you could use this excuse to finally see her.” Miguel glared down at her before finally giving in as he sighed.
“It’s been almost six years Jess. She probably has moved on by now. Why would she want to see me after all these years?”
“It wouldn’t hurt to try. Just come on the mission and make up your mind there.” Miguel pondered what Jess said. His heart yearned to see you again. But his mind was making him panic. What if she doesn’t want to see me?
“I’ll go.”
The mission was very simple as only a random person appeared and needed to be sent back. He would have stayed back at HQ if this wasn’t your world.
“I’ll see you back at HQ. Go get her back.” Jess said as she looked over at Miguel, who huffed as he swung away from her and Gwen.
“What’s he doing?” Asked Gwen.
“He’s going to see an old friend.” Jess looked at the direction Miguel went off to before heading back to HQ.
It only took minutes to get to for him to get to your apartment. However, time felt like it was moving in slow motion as he walked into your apartment complex and up the elevator to your floor.
33B, your apartment number. He dissolved his suit to appear in his casual clothing. His chest hurt as he felt his heart pound against it. Taking a second to calm his breathing, he knocked on your door.
In seconds the door opened wide as he was met with your surprised gaze. Even after almost six years, you still looked the same. The same gorgeous woman he fell for when he first laid his eyes on you. He wished he could wrap you in his arms and hold you. Capture your sweet soft lips with his.
“Miguel?” Hearing your soft voice again melted his cold heart.
“What are you doing here?” You ask as you stare up at him. Butterflies came to life in your stomach by seeing him again in person. He looked the same, except for his frame. He was a lot bigger the last time you saw him. After the breakup, he must have begun working out even more. Your heart dropped when you thought that he might be seeing someone new. Cheeks dusted pink as you move your gaze briefly away before looking back at those brown eyes you fell in love with years ago.
“There was an anomaly reported on your earth.” His response made you frown as you hoped he would come here to see you.
“Oh, do you need help with it? I’ve been pretty busy lately, so I haven’t been Spiderwoman in a bit.”
“Jess and I have already finished the mission. It wasn’t that bad.”
“Oh, I see. Then why are you here?” You ask again for his reason. Miguel’s gaze darted to different parts of your living room, having difficulty gazing at you without kissing you. You can see he was nervous as you could see his chest rise and fall faster than normal.
Suddenly, his gaze moved to you as he took your hand, rubbing his thumb over your knuckles. A shiver went up your spine as his hand swallowed yours. You felt like a schoolgirl again by him only holding your hand.
“I want to talk. I missed you, Y/n.” You felt the butterflies in your stomach become wild. He missed you like you missed him. But why did it take him so long to come see you? Why did he wait so long? You were suddenly reminded why you were heading out. You remove your hand from him as you pick up the things you dropped.
“I-I have to go.” You move out into the hallway with him as you close and lock the door. Moving past him, Miguel gently grabbed your arm.
“Y/n, please don’t ignore me. I really want to talk.” His voice was stern, yet his gaze looked desperate.
“I-I do want to talk, but I have to go.” You sigh as you remove your arm from his grasp. Pressing the elevator button, you walk in as it opens. Before it closed, Miguel pushed it back, walking in.
“Can’t we talk on your way?” He stood in front of you as you backed yourself against the wall. He walked closer, inches apart from each other. His gaze moved from your eyes to your lips, then back. Before, you would have a quick make-out session if no one walked in. He would have pinned you against the wall, arms wrapped around each other and tongues down each other’s throats.
“Fine.” You sighed as you turned your gaze from him. You could see in his eyes how he recalled your heated sessions in this same elevator years back. Walking out of the elevator with Miguel by your side, your nerves began to skyrocket.
You were on your way to pick up Mateo. Miguel’s son, that he didn’t know about. Checking the time on your phone you had 10 minutes to get there. Luckily, Mateo’s school was only a 5-minute walk away from your apartment.
“I wanted to say I’m sorry for distancing myself from you back then. For becoming cold towards you when you only tried to help me.” His words brought you out of your thoughts as you looked at him.
“I know that time of the year is really hard on you. But you didn’t have to shut me out. I was your girlfriend.” He looks back at you before looking ahead.
“I know. I wish I could take it back.”
“I’m sorry too. You were going through a dark time. I should have stayed by your side. But I didn’t have that much time to wait for you back then.” You stopped now in front of Mateo’s school.
“What do you mean by that?” Miguel’s brows furrowed, followed by a frown, confused by your last words. You take a deep breath as you look up at him.
“I’ll be back in a few minutes. Please wait here.” You say as you turn from him and walk into the school doors. You walk down the hall and see other parents picking up their kids. You see Mateo blabbering to another kid as you get to the room before he notices you.
“Mommy!” Mateo runs up to you as you lift him up into your arms.
“Hi baby, how was your first day?” You wave to his teacher before walking back down the hall.
“It was amazing! We drew our favorite animals, and we got to play games all day!” You smiled as he told you about his day.
“I can’t wait to hear more about it. Someone is waiting for us outside.” You tell him. Your last words perked his interest as he gave you a surprised look.
“Who is it?!”
“You’ll see in a second.” You set him on the ground and hold his hand as you walk out the front doors. You sigh in relief as Miguel is still waiting, but it is soon replaced with worry as you see Miguel’s eyes widen as he doesn’t move his gaze from Mateo.
You walk up to Miguel, and his gaze finally meets you again before returning to Mateo, who hides behind your leg. You knew it would only take him seconds to figure it out by how much he looks like him.
“How old is he?” Miguel breaks the silence.
“5 years and 6 months.” You answer him. Your gaze looks at your surroundings as other parents obviously glance over. “Is it possible if we can continue this back at the apartment? People are sort of staring.” Miguel nods his head before you walk back to the apartment.
Unlocking the door, Mateo runs in, throwing his bag in the living room. You turn to face Miguel, who is still standing at the entrance.
“You can come in. I won’t bite.” You smile at him. He chuckles at your response as he walks fully into the living room.
“He’s mine?” He asked as a question even though he knew the answer. You bite your lip as you nod your head. Your affirmation made his heart race again. He had a son. The same boy walked back into the living room, hiding his face in your leg.
“Can I?” Miguel looked at Mateo.
“Hey, Mateo. This is Miguel. Your father.” You tell your son as you comb your fingers through his hair to make him feel more comfortable. Mateo looks up at you before looking at Miguel.
Miguel kneels to the ground as Mateo slowly moves from your leg. You gently guide him to Miguel.
“Hi.” Mateo shyly speaks.
“Hi, Mateo.”
“Can I call you Dad?” Your eyes widened slightly at Mateo’s sudden question. A large smile appears on Miguel’s face.
“Of course, you can.” Air comes back to your lungs as if you were holding your breath. You can see Mateo’s face beam as he hugs Miguel. At first, surprised, Miguel hugs him back as he stands back up, holding him in his arms. Tears brim the corner of your eyes. You never thought this day would happen.
“Wow! You’re so big! You’re way taller than Mommy.”
“That is true, Papi.” Miguel chuckled as he looked over to you. You walk over to Mateo and lightly pinch his cheek before kissing him on the same spot, which makes him giggle.
Miguel looked at you and his son with so much love. He had a family again. He was going to do everything he could to win you back.
“Are you married to Mommy?” Mateo’s sudden question surprised both of you. Your cheeks redden as you look away from Miguel, who turns his head to hide his small blush.
“How about you go and play with your toys in your room? Hmm?” You tell Mateo.
“Aww, but I want to stay here.” Mateo pouts as he crosses his arms.
“You should listen to your mama, Mateo.” Miguel set him to the ground. You had yo admit, having another person back you up when your son was acting stubborn was nice.
“Can I show him my room first?” He pleads with you.
“Alright. But as soon as you do, you’ll let us talk?”
“Yay!” Mateo grabs Miguel’s hand and pulls him to his room. His hands felt so small and delicate in his large hands.
You lean on the doorframe as you smile at the sight before you. Mateo showed Miguel his favorite stuffed animals and toys as the two conversed about race cars and other things that came from your five-year-old’s mind. After a few minutes, you gently brush your hand against Miguel’s shoulder. Turning to you, he stood back to his full height.
“Ok Mateo. Your papa and I have to go talk now.”
“Aw, ok.” Mateo pouts as he sits on his race track carpet with a few of his stuffed animals in hand.
“If you’re good and don’t bother us. I’ll let us get pizza for dinner tonight.” At the mention of pizza Mateo jumps up and down in joy before going back to play with his toys.
Both you and Miguel leave his room. You walk to your bedroom, letting him in before closing the door.
“I didn’t think I could get you to the bedroom this quick, cariño.” Miguel chuckled.
“I did it so we can talk in private. But still, be close to him just in case.” You roll your eyes playfully, trying to hide your smile from his comment.
The silence grew in the room before Miguel had enough and broke it.
“Did you end things because you were pregnant?”
“Yes.” You looked away from his gaze as you felt guilty.
“Why didn’t you tell me?” His voice lowered barely above a whisper. You still heard as you closed your eyes, taking a deep breath before exhaling. You had some speculation that if Miguel ever came to find you, you would have this conversation.
“I tried telling you. But you were so distant from me. I couldn’t find the right time to tell you. I stopped trying after you said you didn’t want to have any more kids anymore after…after Gabriella. I was afraid that you wouldn’t want to be a father again if I told you.” Tears pricked the corners of your eyes as you tried so hard to hold them in. You look back at Miguel as he tries to remember what he said back then. His eyes suddenly widen slightly before he looks back at you with regret. He walks slowly over to you.
“Did that happen on Gabi’s birthday?” Miguel forced the question out. Even as years go by, his heart still aches at the reminder of his daughter.
“Yes. You said, ‘The thought of having another child is unbearable. I couldn’t handle the pain again if something happened.’” You remembered his words exactly, as they stayed engraved into your mind all these years. You couldn’t stop the tears from running down your cheeks.
“I-I didn’t mean to say I never wanted children again. I was so grief-stricken back then. I wasn’t thinking about what I was saying. If only I didn’t say those words. I would have been there with you. Seeing Mateo grow up.” Miguel sat on your bed, hands covering his face as he drowned in regret. You sit next to him as you move his hands from his face and guided his chin to look at you.
The tears continued to come out as you saw his eyes become glossy. “I’m so sorry you weren’t there for Mateo’s first five years. If you want, you can still see him grow up.”
“Of course I want to watch him grow up. I want to be in his life. But I want to be in your life too.” His last words caught you off guard. Miguel leaned in to kiss you, but you covered his lips with your hand. He pulled back, a frown evident on his face.
“Do you not want me back, amor?
“I do, Miguel. But I can’t rush right back into it. It’s been almost six years. And we only were together for six months before. Plus, let’s have Mateo get used to you being around first before putting our relationship on him too.”
“Alright. I’ll be patient but not that patient.”
“Let’s just see how the first week goes.” You put your hand out for him to shake in agreement. He gave you a deadpan look before taking your hand. However, instead of shaking it, he brought it to his lips and gently kissed the bottom of your wrist.
“Miguel…” You playfully roll your eyes. He kisses your wrist one more time before smirking.
“Alright, alright. I’ll play nice. For now.” You playfully hit his chest, which makes him chuckle as you both leave your bedroom and walk into the living room. Since Mateo didn’t disrupt your conversation, you decided to order a pizza.
“Do you still like pepperoni?” You ask Miguel as you sit next to him on the couch.
“Sí.” He replied as he scooched closer to you on the couch. You noticed but ignored it as you continued ordering the pizza online.
“Momma!” Mateo said as he ran to the living room.
“Yes, sweetie?”
“Can I watch my cartoons?”
“Of course.” Mateo sits on the floor in front of the tv as you grab the remote to turn it to the right channel.
As the cartoons played, Mateo would explain the characters to Miguel whenever a new one appeared on the screen. You didn’t realize how close on the couch Miguel had gotten, arm resting behind you on the sofa, until you heard your phone buzz.
Picking it up, your eyes widen when you see a text from a certain person.
“Whose that?” Asked Miguel.
“Just someone.” Miguel frowned at your vague answer, understanding why.
“Who is he?”
“Just a guy from when I was at a mommy and me group.”
“Are you seeing him?” You can hear the jealousy come out in his voice.
“Well, no. There were only two dates.”
“What does the text say?”
“He was just asking how Mateo’s first day was.” You said, “and asking for a third date.” You quickly added, which widened Miguel’s eyes as he turned to look at you, slightly upset.
“Well, you should tell him you’re not single anymore.”
“Miguel…” your tone turns serious with his response.
“It’s eventually going to happen, amor. So why string this man along when he can’t have you?” You roll your eyes at him. You decide to ignore the texts until you know what to say.
Thankfully the doorbell rang, indicating the pizza was here. Miguel got up from the sofa and opened the door. Grabbing the pizza and thanking the delivery man before closing the door.
Miguel brings it to the kitchen as you follow, grabbing two plates and then a plastic one for Mateo. After getting slices onto the plates, you go back to the living room. You hand Mateo his plate, which he cheers and says thank you in excitement before chomping down.
“I forgot your earth has the best pizza,” Miguel said as he took a bite.
“It really does. You remember that mission we went on that had that awful pizza with lobster and strawberries as toppings?” You cringe at the memory of you and Miguel stopping to grab food after fighting an anomaly and being horrified by what the locals called a delicacy.
“I do remember that. I’ve never tasted more disgusting food in my life.” He cringes at the memory alongside you. “Do you ever think about HQ?” He glanced over at you.
“Yeah, I do. I miss it a lot, actually. Seeing everyone and going on missions. Everyone came to me begging me to report their mission to you if it went bad.” You laugh at the last part.
“Everyone still misses you. A lot has changed since you were last there. There are more spider recruits, so the halls are always busy. Peter B remarried MJ, and they have a baby now. Jess and her husband are expecting one too. Some new teenage spiders annoy the hell out of me daily. Specifically, a guy named Hobie. He never listens and loves to get on my nerves.” Miguel’s fangs come out, annoyed by the thought of the rebellious spiders. Thankfully Mateo was facing away from him to not see the fangs.
“It would be nice to see everyone again. And to meet new faces.” You smile at Miguel’s reaction.
“Come with me tomorrow. After dropping Mateo off at school.” He looks at you, waiting for a response.
“I would love that, actually.” You say, which brings a huge smile to Miguel’s face.
“Sounds like a date.”
“It’s not.”
“I’m only kidding.” He holds his hands up in defense.
After finishing the pizza and watching more cartoons, you realize it’s way past Mateo’s bedtime. Looking over at your son, you see him dozed off on the floor. You go to pick him up, but Miguel places his hand on your arm as he picks up Mateo easily.
You both walk to his room as Miguel tucks him into bed as Mateo already is wearing his PJs.
“Buenas noches mi hijo.” Miguel whispered to Mateo before placing a kiss on his head. After he stands up, you brush some of Mateo’s hair out of his face as you kiss his forehead.
“Sweet dreams.” You say before getting up and turning off the light before closing his door.
After Miguel finishes cleaning the dishes, he walks into your bedroom, where he is handed a pillow and blanket.
“What is this for?” His eyebrows furrowed in confusion as he looked back at you.
“For you.” You say.
“Y/n, don’t make me sleep on the couch. I would be much more comfortable sleeping in here with you.” Miguel pouts as he sets it on your desk.
“Miguel. We are not together.” You remind him.
“But we will be. So why not start slowly by letting me sleep with you. Plus, I’ll hurt my neck by sleeping on the sofa.” You pondered his words. He was right. He was too big to sleep comfortably on the couch. A sigh escaped your lips.
“Ok, fine. You can sleep with me. But only sleeping! Any funny business, and you’re heading straight to the living room.”
After getting ready for bed, you slip underneath the covers. You watch as Miguel takes off his shirt showing his chiseled body. You hide your face in your pillow so he wouldn’t see your red face.
You feel the bed dip as Miguel gets under the covers lying beside you. The lights were off, only the moonlight lighting up the room. Your gaze meets his. You start to fall into a trance as the moonlight reflects perfectly off of him, staring straight into his mix of brown and red eyes.
You didn’t realize he had wrapped his arm around your waist, bringing you closer. Your bodies now only centimeters apart. He cupped your cheek with his other hand as he leaned down before capturing your lips with his.
You missed feeling his lips on yours. The kiss lasts a few more seconds before your lips sadly part. Moving your gaze from his lips to his eyes, you see them cloud into a lustful gaze.
You are suddenly brought back to reality as you lightly glare at him.
“Go to the couch. Now.”

Wrong.
You were incredibly wrong.
Leaping off the platform, you swiftly evade the heavy metal desk Miguel throws at you, instinctively shooting a web to use the object as a makeshift barrier while catching your breath.
"Lyla!" You call out, your spider senses on high alert. "This is not what was mentioned last night!"
Immediately the bubbly AI appears by your side, a sheepish smile on her face. "I was instructed not to reveal too much," she offers, somewhat apologetic -- Not.
Frustration surges through you as you struggle to comprehend the situation -- Why must everything be difficult with him?
Without warning, you feel yourself lifted from the ground. No hesitation, you kick Miguel in the stomach, sending the desk crashing into him.
"Can't we just talk?" You urge, hands on your hips. "The way I was led to believe," you add, bitterness seeping into your voice.
A dry laugh escapes Miguel's lips, body preparing for his next attack. "Oh, yeah, sure, let's talk," he mocks, lunging at you, claws aiming at your upper body.
With an apathetic gaze, he surveys your trapped form, chest rising and falling from the altercation. In an instant, he ensnares you within a forcefield, the very ones used to sustain anomalies.
"You must be joking," You shake your head in disbelief, agitation causing you to pace back and forth. "Can you ever approach things rationally without letting your anger consume you?" You glare, frustration evident.
Miguel's gaze sharpens as he locks eyes with you. He strides over to retrieve the cuffs he had initially asked you to wear -- the very ones you had profoundly refused and had tossed aside without thinking; Not the best decision you could have made, obviously.
"If you wanted me rational, you shouldn’t have thrown that little tantrum you did," He turns to you, arms crossed.
You narrow your brows; Tantrum? Tantrum. Not wanting to be treated like a criminal was now considered a tantrum?
"If you had you just listened-"
You scoff, turning your back to him and lowering yourself to the ground; You were done listening.
With a mere concentration, you form a barrier, gradually filtering Miguel's voice from reaching you; External sounds soon become muffled, only a faint ringing penetrating your ears. Turning your attention inward, you firmly plant your palms on the ground, focusing on the subtle vibrations that Miguel's voice carries.
As the vibrations intensify, you brace yourself for what comes next. Before you know it, Miguel lifts you off the ground, fangs bared inches from your face. You maintain a neutral expression despite the harsh grip on your forearm.
Miguel studies your reaction, searching for any sign of submission. Frustrated, he releases his grip and steps back, pinching his nose as if trying to calm himself. Muttering something under his breath, he looks at you with outstretched hands -- ‘Let’s talk’.
Though reluctant, you nod, allowing sound to seep in again. "I'm listening," you respond, your tone grim.
Exasperated, Miguel moves to the computer system, multiple images displaying on the holographic screen. You instantly recognize the people -- all fifteen of them -- and a sense of defeat washes over you.
"I thought we had moved past this," You whisper, realizing the gravity of what he was showing you.
Miguel's gaze remains fixed on the screen as he responds, "We were never past this. This is why you're here." He points to an additional image, "Two weeks ago, unusual glitching was detected in Earth-12131."
You shake your head. "That's not possible. You said nothing was disrupted."
"Nothing was disrupted, and now nothing is. I had Peter B take care of it," He mutters, pushing the screens aside.
"Why are you telling me this?"
"Because your mistake," Miguel's voice raises, "could have led to the destruction of an entire universe. And your recent errors are not making it any better." He approaches you, hands extending expectantly. "I want your watch," he demands.
What.
Your body freezes. "What? No," you protest, taking a step back.
"Don't make this any more difficult than it has to be. After today, your services are no longer needed here."
Suffocated. You feel suffocated as Miguel draws near you, his eyes narrowed with a single objective. Your hands twitch, the rhythmic pounding of your heart echoing loudly in your ears -- Why? Just why? You were beginning to feel disoriented, your very name reduced to mere echoes. Swiftly, you sidestep, concealing your right hand behind your back.
"That's not fair," You reason. "You know what happened. Hell, you saw what happened!" You manage to evade his grasp once again. "And as for my recent errors, we both know who's causing them," You huff out.
Miguel sighs, hands clenching at his sides, attempting to repress any rising irritation. "Could you please just stay still?" He warns.
"Por dios, O'Hara!" You evade him once more. "How can you possibly be such a hypocrite when you're the one who actually caused the annihilation of an entire universe?"
Silence.
Profound silence falls between the two of you, you just registering the weight of the words that had left you. You glance up to meet Miguel's intense stare, red eyes piercing into you.
"Verga," You rush out before being knocked to the ground. You choke out a gasp, breath increasingly strained as Miguel's grip tightens around your throat. What was wrong with you? Did you seriously want to die?
"Try to calm down," You struggle to word out, desperately attempting to free yourself.
"Don't tell me what I have to do," He snarls beside your ear, hands squeezing tighter.
Clawing at his hands, you take notice of the black spots that cloud your vision; Just what were you doing? You could easily overthrow Miguel and give yourself a chance to escape, yet you were surrendering instead. Succumbing to a guilt you knew you had no control over. God, this was all tiring. Like a revelation, you allow your body to relax, eyes gaining a clear focus on your next move.
"Enough." Your hand swiftly reaches behind Miguel's neck, fingers grasping firmly. "If you're going to insist on burdening me with guilt for the rest of my time here, then maybe you should experience the guilt I've been carrying."
Soon, Miguel's hold on you weakens, his body staggering and collapsing to the ground. A ripple of emotions engulfs him -- Fear, pain, and confusion -- They all flood his mind, mirroring the overwhelming tragedies felt by those who had died. The same emotions you had experienced when you regretfully took their lives. The same emotions you can never forget. But you don't stop there; you make him see. You make him see all the nightmares and illusions that plagued their minds, exposing him to the relentless darkness that claimed them.
You stagger forward, blood trickling from your nose as the pressure of your abilities takes a toll on your body. "Believe me when I say I don't need you reminding me of what I did," You take a deep breath, voice filled with resignation. "Just as you don't need people reminding you of what you did."
With a hint of remorse, you make him see her. Make him hear her. Feel her.
"Papá?" Gabriela's small voice echoes in his head.
Mind unable to process what was happening, Miguel stills. His previously crouched body now cradling his daughter's non-existent one, hand caressing her cheek as if she were truly there.
"Papá, I'm scared," His little girl whimpers, her non-existing hand clutching onto his.
Miguel gazes downward, eyes fixated on his daughter's empty embrace. The weight of her presence so tangible to him but invisible to everyone else. It all becomes unbearable. The sound of your labored breaths is what jolts him back to reality. His body slumps with heavy sorrow, face contorting with anguish and grief.
"Just... stop," He whispers, voice vulnerable, on the verge of breaking.
Overwhelmed, you collapse to the ground. Your vision blurs and your senses distort while becoming hazy. It's difficult for you to regain control, especially as you struggle to restore balance to your overtaxed senses.
"I never wanted to do that," You mutter, head remaining low. "But I'm done. If you want me gone, I'll leave by tomorrow." With unsteady steps, you stand up.
Quietly, you turn to leave, casting one final glance at headquarters' formidable leader.
Miguel remains on his knees, gaze lost in contemplation. Just utterly broken.
Without another word, you're gone.
------
"So... are you planning to remain silent?"
Gwen hangs upside down, a single brow raised inquisitively.
"Not entirely," You reply as you walk around her. "And could you please get down from there? It’s making me dizzy," You groan, rubbing your forehead.
Your mind was still reeling from the day's earlier events, the pressure of it all causing a soft, persistent ache in your head; You felt like utter trash. Just like that, your life had managed to be disrupted. As you glanced around, you couldn’t help the small smile that formed -- This was home, your home -- and now it was slipping away from you; A dry laugh escaped your lips.
"Your neck’s bruising."
"Huh?"
Gwen lands beside you, her fingers lightly brushing over your injuries. Despite your best efforts, you can't help but flinch at her touch, your face contorting with discomfort as she examines the wounds. You shoot the teenager a slightly irritated glance, hands pushing hers away and adjusting your suit to conceal any visible bruises. Well, at least the ones on your body; the state of your face was still up for debate.
"And what villain of the week did those?" She asks, now signaling at your dry bloodstained nose.
You ignore her, opting to wave at the spider people who greet you, your smile faltering as you enter your room. Crashing onto the sofa, you shield your face with your arm -- Finally, some quiet.
"Well?"
You groan, arm lifting to glance at the smirking teenager. "Five seconds, Gwen. That's all I ask," You state tiredly, closing your eyes once more.
Never did you expect your time in the Spiderverse-Society to end so abruptly; It's been what, about six months, and now everything is-
"Times up!" Gwen calls out, taking a seat across from you.
This time, you can't help but glare at her, forcing yourself to sit up. "You know Gwendolyn, you can be quite the little pest sometimes." You mutter, words lacking any malice.
"I've been told worse," She shrugs off before looking at you expectantly.
You grumble softly, rolling your eyes as you indulge her. "If you must know, nosy," You side-eye her, "Our beloved boss is the culprit for all this."
Gwen studies your face. "Miguel did that?" She questions, astonished.
"Yep," You confirm with a nod. "O'Hara did that and more."
"What do you mean?
"I mean," You shrug, attempting to appear unfazed, "Guess who's been kicked out of the spider society," You sing-song, trying to lighten the mood.
Gwen's frown deepens, her once content attitude now simmering. Startled, you watch as she stands up, eyes following her as she heads toward the door. Reacting quickly, you shoot out a web, giving her a stern warning look. With a subtle tug on her hand, you silently urge her to sit.
"And what do you think you're about to do?" You ask with a bored expression.
She scoffs. "Miguel can't just kick you out-".
"Yes, he can."
"But not without a proper-"
"Reason? Yeah, I agree with you on that."
"Would you stop-"
"Interrupting you?"
"Y/N!"
You sigh, leaning your head back before addressing her seriously. "Just let it go, Gwen."
Observing the torn look on her face and the hesitant movement of her feet, a soft laugh escapes you -- She reminded you so much of her. The same persistence and equally annoying smartness that you once bonded over. Had things turned out differently, she would have turned seventeen this year -- your Gwen, that is. It never ceased to amaze you how every Spider's canon intertwined in one way or another. Pushing aside the waves of nostalgia, you refocus your thoughts.
"I'm slowly coming to terms with it," You try to reassure her, "I just want to be alone."
Gwen hesitates, mouth opening as if to say something, before nodding. You watch her leave, exhaling a breath as the door closes behind her. Like fragile glass, the facade you had been putting up shatters, and the tears that stung your eyes finally fall.
To feel or not to feel; that was the ultimate question.
You lay back once more on the comfort of your sofa -- Pain somehow soothed you better.
------
Body jolting, an involuntary gasp escapes you. You wince as the abrupt noise from your mouth sends a sharp ache down your throat. Shaking your head to clear the drowsiness, you sit up, feeling your bones crack as you carefully stretch your stiff muscles.
What time was it?
It was dark, and as you glance outside your window, the sight of an empty headquarters suggested that most of the spider people had returned to their respective universe. The stillness of the place contrasts with the earlier bustling morning, and you can't help but feel a sense of solitude in the quiet atmosphere.
"You overslept!" A chirpy voice pops up in front of you.
You cross your arms, eyeing the flashy AI. "Not in the mood, Lyla."
Making your way toward the bedroom, you retrieve a duffle bag, somberly packing all your items away. Clothing, gadgets, even the occasional assignments, you ensure nothing is left behind. While doing so, you can't help but notice the glitching A.I. take seat mid-air.
"You can't stay mad at me," She states.
Exhaling with frustration, you release the clothing you had been clutching in your hand "Sure, I can," You retort sharply. "I can choose to stay mad at you, just like you chose to keep me in the dark about the purpose of the meeting."
Her head tilted. "I was simply following orders."
"And when have you ever refrained from defying those orders?" You counter, irritation seeping through.
"Look,” Lyla persisted. "I just came to give you a heads up that Miguel is on his way to see you."
"He's what?" You see her disappear. "Lyla!" You shout in frustration -- Must she always do that?
Hastily you shove whatever else you can into your bag before rushing to the door. As the automatic doors open, you come to an abrupt halt.
"Leaving already?"
Instinctively, you step back, Miguel practically barging into your room. It seemed nothing was going your way today, not even your promised departure.
"Just as you requested," You react, a forced smile on your face.
His gaze subtly fixates on the duffle bag clutched in your hands. "I thought you said tomorrow," He remarks, sauntering further in as the doors behind him close.
You click your tongue, annoyance brimming within by his probing and sudden intrusion. "You seriously have some nerve coming here and-"
"You're reinstated." He interjects.
"Come again?"
Grumbling under his breath, he places his hands on his hips and clarifies, "I said, you're reinstated."
You stand there, mind processing his words before directing a glare toward him. "Is this some kind of joke to you?" You drop your bag in disbelief. "You practically threaten my life in the morning, and now you barge in here without even offering an apology and expect everything to be resolved with a simple phrase."
Not giving him a chance to respond, you swiftly snatch your bag and move to leave, or at least attempt to. To your surprise, and his own, Miguel latches onto your wrist. With a wary gaze, you pull your hand free from his grip. As he remains silent, you scoff, unsure what to make of the situation.
"No lo puedo creer, a pesar de joder mi paciencia tu-"
"Dios, cállate,” He snaps. “This is what started things in the morning-"
"Right, so it’s my fault now."
"Y/N."
"O’Hara," You defy, refusing to call him by his first name.
In the dimly lit room, the both of you huff in exasperation, the tense atmosphere enveloping you. A weariness settles within, and the decision to abandon the situation seems ever more tempting. Gosh, he was frustrating.
Unexpectedly, he positions himself in front of you, his imposing height putting you at a disadvantage. Intense gaze fixed upon you, he lowers his voice, his words resolute and unmistakable. "As I was saying," he begins, tone unwavering. "You're reinstated."
With a dismissive gesture, he brushes his shoulder against yours as he exits. "Tomorrow you work with me."
In a moment of disbelief, you find yourself pinching your arm. The sharp pain that shoots up serves as a stark reminder that you were not imagining things. Muttering a curse under your breath, you drop your bag to the side.
Fuck him, you thought. Whatever he had planned for tomorrow, you would make sure not to break this time.
