I had fun trying to come up with the worst family dynamic for this.

Hikage is Yoichi's biological child. AFO wanted to start over so he used Yoichi's DNA to try and make a new little brother to deal with his grief after his brother's death, but he tweaked it a bit so Yoichi wouldn't be as weak as he had been, but wasn't so strong AFO couldn't control him. The end result was Super Anxiety, er, Danger Sense.

Then as Hikage grows up, AFO decides he wants to be a father again. This lead to Banjo being born as AFOs biological child. He does have a mom since AFO didn't want to spend years in a lab again, but he doesn't know who she is or care. Hikage is the older brother by four years.

Their teenage years were a nightmare with Hikage refusing to give any affection to his father and Banjo constantly getting into trouble. He shaved his head after an argument with his dad and liked the look so much he decided to keep it. AFO almost died from a heart attack when he heard. Then again when he found out that Daigoro went behind his back and became a hero. And a third time when he heard that his little Hikage had a child... Despite the fact that he was 22 when that happened.

Thus, En joins the family. He may take after her in looks, but he has Hikage's personality. AFO adores his grandson and spoils him. As for En's mom, she got a job offer in Australia and took it, but they still face chat from time to time.

Now for the million-dollar question: What about OFA and criminal activity? His family doesn't know. As far as Banjo and Hikage know, their dad is just an ordinary business man and Garaki is a very unlikeable babysitter. And he's just a very young-looking grandpa to En. AFO plans to let them in on a few things once En turns 18 so they can talk it over like rational adults (he says, being the only irrational one)

En decides he wants to be a hero too. At 14 he looks for someone to secretly train him so he can get into one of the new hero schools that just started up. He doesn't tell his father since he doesn't want them to worry and he wants to try and do it without his uncle's help, and he knows his grandpa doesn't think he's capable. Then, he stumbles upon a much older Third who offers to train him if he accepts this quirk and the responsibility that comes with it. En thinks that taking down the villain AFO will be a great way to prove himself to his grandfather and says yes.

I believe the rest is best left to the imagination.

It's so hard to come up with something for this one 😅 most of the things I can think of are things I know I've mentioned before, at least on discord.

So I guess at risk of maybe repeating myself, a few little things: I played viola in orchestra all through middle and high school! I love daffodils, they are synonymous with happiness and sunshine and spring for me, especially since spring of 2021 when my year of full quarantine was starting to come to an end just as the daffodils were blooming. I have always wanted a cat, but my dad is allergic so it was never an option--I'm not willing to start taking care of another living creature until I can consistently and independently take care of myself, and it'll probably be a few years yet before I'm confident of that, but I hope one day I will have a furry friend or two.

🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

For my old novel wip that shall remain unnamed (i need to come up with a snappier way to refer to that), I once spent a really long amount of time researching bird speed/weight/anatomy, so I could estimate 1) the speed that messages could reasonably travel by magic-clockwork carrier bird, and 2) the flight capabilities of a human-sized fairy and if she'd need to have hollow bones. And then I threw all of that out and decided it was so much easier to just say It's Magic lolll

snapdragon: is your muse merciful? why or why not?

This is where Mercy's name choice is a bit ironic- she can be very compassionate and merciful at times when she feels it's warranted, but on the other hand she can be downright nasty when she doesn't think it's deserved. This is mainly something that comes into play with faction conflicts & bounty hunting- she'll take matters into her own hands if she feels like there isn't going to be an appropriate punishment for what was done. For example- she’d likely “lose” a bounty placed on someone for killing their spouse if she found out that spouse was abusive(and she’d likely be missing supplies, caps, etc). On the other hand, she’d turn in a bounty very dead if it was for someone with some sort of wealth or authority if she learned that they were responsible for harming or killing children. She doesn’t trust the NCR or any other government/legal organizations to actually hold people accountable when they’ve committed heinous acts, & especially if they have some sort of power or authority or if they’d have the ability to pay their way out.

Reed's somewhere in the middle but leaning more towards merciful. He's fine with emotionally removing himself from situations and following out orders he disagrees with, but he's also not inherently cruel and doesn't actually want to harm others. He’s the type that’ll usually go out of his way to either try and help or kill a severely injured animal or person, and he’s pretty careful with his aim to make sure whatever he’s aiming for has a very quick death rather than just injuring them.

I have 67k of this fic, so it took me awhile to figure out what snippet I wanted to share! This is another slightly long one, so the rest is under the cut.

For the uninitiated, Yann Surefire is Caleb reborn and he is not aware of that fact - his memories are disjointed. Essek is going under the pseudonym of Imbros Vrinn and wears a Ring of Alter Self to maintain his disguise. Fiona is Jester's granddaughter and a lot of trouble, as any Lavorre would be. This whole futurefic is blatantly self-indulgent and I will not apologize.

This fic is approximately 45% done, and I’m attempting to finish it completely before I start posting it - but I might change my mind and start posting some of the earlier chapters like I’m doing for 2 Tusk 2 Love. I guess we’ll see!

“Yann!” Fiona exclaimed as their visitor appeared in the doorway. “Esse—IMBROS. You didn’t tell me he was here!”

Essek shrugged. At that point, he wondered if he should just start going by his actual name, if Fiona was going to shout fragments of it every time she was caught off guard.

“Vrinn invited me for dinner,” Surefire said, glancing down at the pot in front of him. “You’re making soup? Can I help?”

Fiona’s eyes were way too amused – and way too bright – as she glanced over at Essek. “You cook?” she asked Yann delightedly. “Of course you can help!” She pulled a knife out of a block and handed it to Surefire handle-first. “Can you chop those vegetables? Imbros is just going to watch anyway.”

That was just uncalled for. “I offered to help you cook earlier,” Essek grumbled.

Fiona beamed over at him. “Do you want to help Yann chop vegetables?” she asked, batting her eyelashes. Essek realized abruptly that this had all been a plot against him, and Fiona Lavorre knew him entirely too well. “You can show him how to do it properly.”

He ignored the obvious innuendo in her statement and fetched a second knife from the block. Surefire had already produced a cutting board from somewhere – had he been in this kitchen before? – and was getting to chopping up an onion. The kitchen was not the largest, and Essek found the only remaining counter space was right next to Surefire; he gritted his teeth and searched for another board to cut on.

“This is the only one,” Surefire said apologetically, sliding the unused end of his own board towards Essek. “We can share. If you like?”

There was still something subdued about his expression; Essek didn’t like it. Perhaps that was what possessed him to accept Surefire’s offer and begin to slice a tomato on the opposite end of the board, standing so close that their arms brushed as they worked.

Surefire had a nice scent, one that Essek tried desperately not to breathe in as they quietly chopped vegetables next to one another. Even Fiona was quiet, chopping herbs on the opposite side of the stove.

“We had visitors today,” Surefire said suddenly. His voice was soft, barely loud enough to be heard by the two of them. Essek glanced to the side, but Surefire wasn’t watching him, staring instead at his own careful chopping. “Elves from Wildemount.”

Essek’s knife slipped, nicking the side of his finger. He hissed and stuck his finger in his mouth, a terrible habit he’d picked up from Caleb after years of cooking together.

Surefire finally looked over at him, concerned. “Are you okay?”

“I cut myself,” Essek said crossly, casting about for a rag – he located one hanging from a hook near the sink and wrapped it carefully around his finger, pressing on it firmly to staunch the bleeding.

“Let me see that,” said Surefire, pulling Essek to him; they would have been standing nose to nose if Essek had been Surefire’s height. Not seeming to register their closeness, Surefire gently took Essek’s hand in his own, sliding the rag away and running his fingertips along the cut on the side of Essek’s finger. His touch was soft, and warm, and Essek felt a spike of heat run through him.

Surefire whispered a vocal component of some sort and green healing magic briefly enveloped Essek’s finger. When the light faded, his altered flesh was as good as new, unmarred by any cut.

“Better?” Surefire murmured, watching Essek with the hint of a smile at the corner of his mouth. He continued to hold Essek’s hand in his own, absently running his fingers along the rings that decorated his fingers. “It can be useful, having a druid around.”

Essek’s brain was slightly addled from the combination of Surefire’s touch and his amused gaze. “Ah. Yes. Thank you?”

Behind them, Fiona poorly stifled a giggle. Surefire released Essek’s hand immediately, turning back to his chopping with a flush high on his cheeks.

For your ask game. What do you see happening in a world where the Fourth OFA User unlocks the ability to speak to the vestiges? He's the guy who explicitly trained the quirk to increase its power for future users and thus the most likely to unlock its secrets. Within a month of getting the quirk, the guy's meditating under a waterfall and now he's in a discord call with the boys, and so will the future users.

I love this concept!

This happened before Hikage met Banjo, so he was really lonely and missed his predecessors. He didn't see the point in meditating under a waterfall, but he remembered how every manga Yoichi liked had a scene like that, so he decided to try it out to honor him. The cool water and white noise were actually really comforting since it also happened to be summer, and next thing you know, he fell asleep and ended up in the void. He thought he was dreaming at first, especially because he was only there for a few seconds before he woke up. Except it kept happening and he realized that OFA must stockpile not only strength, but memories. Eventually, he was able to stay there for a full 8 hours, but no matter how hard he tried, it could only happen when he was asleep. He died in his sleep, so when his body finally gave out, it felt as if he never had to wake up from a wonderful dream. (It was a little less wonderful when the first three got all lovey-dovey and he had to fourth wheel)

Banjo didn't really believe that Hikage could see his predecessors. He just thought that was a product of imagination from his loneliness (in fact, that was part of why he wanted to be his friend so badly in the first place, because he was worried about his mental stability). Imagine his surprise when he falls asleep the night after Hikage dies and sees his friend again. He's so freaked out he wakes up. Then he remembers what Hikage told him and decides to try and go to sleep again. It works, and for up to 10 hours, he had to deal with Hikage going "I told you so!". But even so, he was happy to see him and meet the three he talked about so much. And when he died, Hikage was so happy that he would no longer have to fourth wheel.

En, unfortunately, did not get to live long. He had fun talking to Banjo and meeting that weird forest guy he always talked about, but just a few months after getting OFA, he was killed. He was only able to extend the dream time to 11 hours, but his successor would reach new heights.

Nana got a longer run and along with seeing them in her dreams, could hear their voices in her head. Not always since they had to choose to speak to her and if she tried to hear them when they weren't speaking, all she would hear was static. At first, it was nice to be able to speak to her predecessors, but the unsolicited advice got annoying real quick. When the unsolicited parenting advice started, she went to the void the next night and slapped them. They shut up after that. But when she was considering putting Kotaro in foster care there was a big argument over it. In the end, she still did it, but they convinced her to let Torino and Toshinori check up on him.

Poor Toshinori. At first, it was cool meeting his predecessors and being able to see Nana again, but like with her, the voices in his head got annoying. And after a little while, they could even appear in the real world, though they were more ghostlike and no one else could see them, so he never got a break. At least Nana was able to watch Kotaro grow up after Torino decided to adopt him and Hana and Tenko lived decent lives. Kotaro was still really tough but not as bad as he could have been. And AFO stayed away realizing that with Torino and All Might, Kotarou won't be easily swayed.

And now, Izuku. Honestly, part of the reason Toshinori picked him was that he thought they would bother a kid more often. Oh, and he had heroic spirit and all that. There was certainly arguing over whether a kid should get that power but he argued with "well, I got that power as a high schooler and look at me now." "You're a skeleton." "Only because of AFO and he's dead." "Ugh, fine." (AFO is not dead but only Yoichi knows. He could sense it through twin bond but didn't want to ruin everyone else's celebration). Because they can all communicate Izuku gets better instruction and makes it through the exam with fractures in his legs and a single broken arm. After that he later gets a lecture from Hikage and goes "Oh, I need to let it spread through my body instead of one sole place" "Yeah exactly-" "Like a microwave!" "..." So, he reaches that a lot quicker and doesn't have to break a finger on the first day of school. It all goes well until the USJ happens. The vestiges were out of the void, wanting to observe the training, but no one but Izuku could see them. Then Kurogiri comes in with the nomu and the vestiges are so startled they become visible to everyone. And 7 ghosts appearing around one green haired boy startles everyone else so much they all freeze and stare. AFO (who was watching at home) sees his brother and orders Kurogiri to take everyone back and leave.

I'll stop there for now since I don't want to rewrite all of Mha. But yes, there is no substitute for Tomura since I couldn't think of anyone to take his place.
