Link Marlowe, The Hero of Death's Mercy
Why is that his hero title? Y'all will have to wait and see, hehehe.
Link is a farmer in a community set among the hills, although he's had plenty of other jobs in the past. He is happily married to his wife Sephea and has three children, Mason, Eden, and Raven.
His life is perfect, or so he would claim, for a simple life and a good home and family are all he's ever desired.
But a fatal mistake sets off a chain of events that leads to Hyrule falling into grave danger once again and drags yet another hero of courage down with it.
But Link is no hero... right?

Link is 40 at the start of his adventure
He and Sephea were married when they were 24 and 22 respectively
Mason is 11 at the start of Link's adventure, Eden is 9, and Raven is 2 years old
Link was drafted temporarily into the military along with other men in his village when he was 34, but the conflict only lasted a year, and he had no major involvement outside of being a foot-soldier
Link's personality is essentially "kill them with kindness." And if that doesn't work then you can throw hands
He is incredibly friendly but hard to get to know because of how open he seems. He deflects personal questions with stories or other questions or round-about answers
His first adventure ended up spanning over 8 years, lots of that time spent in hiding or trying to fix other people's mistakes (and time shenanigans because whats a hero of courage without time shenanigans), with a minor secondary one lasting only a few months happening only 4 years later

Erlang and Wukong's rivalry runs very deep. There was this ancient poem that said if those two teamed up, they could achieve anything.
Also, there was this old version (I think the first?), of Lotus lantern, where Chenxiang had to fight against them. In this version, he manages to defeat both of them. it's the only record where someone manages to beat Wukong and Erlang although as I said, it's an old version, and it depends how people want to see it. I don't quite remember if it was mentioned if Chexiang merged with the lantern in this version or if the lantern appears in that old version. I believe that one of the reasons why Chenxiang can defeat Erlang is because the lantern is a creation of Nuwa. Then there were more versions of Lotus Lantern and Wukong became Chenxiang's mentor.
By the way, I would give you the link to where I saw the fsyy movie, but I literally had to refresh the page all the time to be able to see it, so I don't think you'll want it.

Funny thing is that you’ll find various different sources saying different things and we can’t revive Wu Cheng’en to ask him what his canon would be. Like the fact that in FSYY (from what I’ve read thus far) Yang Jian is the son of a Prime Minister rather than the Jade Emperor or how in other myths his names range from Li Erlang to Li Bing or Zhao Yu. The most popular version being Yang Jian though.
I remember reading that Chenxiang was taught by SWK, I never heard of the version where he defeats Wukong so that’s interesting. I thought his mother made the lamp too? Super interestingnckdnxk I love learning about myths and other iterations. Was the poem about Erlang and SWK working together from JTTW or some variant like that? Or was it its own poem :0?

I like the idea of having my oc Mercy stay in the Commonwealth long-term rather than leave after the Institute’s handled, so I played around with some ideas of where she’d be living at. In the scenario where she’d be staying, she establishes herself as a ghoul-centric doctor and later offers specialized care like medical implants, vaccines, rare chems, unique syringer darts, and potentially induced mutations if her research gets to that point.

Terrovania dorm rules
Masterlist
I do HC NRC has it's rules no matter how rowdy students get, you can get expelled (like how Ace and Deuce almost got in the beginning) but Terrovania has it's own rules with Crowley's allowance
— Familiars/Pets are allowed, unlike rest of NRC Terrovania let's pets in especially cats
— Dorm uniform is customizable but has to have orange, belts and a mask somewhere: rest is just up to creativity.
— Speaking of masks,don't take them off during the annual Halloween tradition
— Don't smash any pumpkins, no matter if it's Halloween or not
— Terrovania has curfew, everyone in their rooms after midnight when all of the jack'o lanterns go out. No exceptions besides who gets to do nighywatch that week.
— Don't blow the Jack'o Lantern's out before midnight either
— Be careful with the doors and stairs, who knows where they lead sometimes

The men of Dunland were amazed; for Saruman had told them that the men of Rohan were cruel and burned their captives alive.
A few things:
- it is wrong to send an army to go kill a bunch of people, obviously.
- Saruman lied to the men of Dunland, was not a trustworthy ally, and did not have their best interests at heart. Following him? Bad choice.
- Nevertheless the men of Dunland probably have not forgotten Gondor's "gift" of land to Rohan for a reason. Was that their land?? Sure seems like it might've been.
- Their relief that Rohan isn't going to torture the survivors should not be taken as evidence that there is no legitimate grievance or that Rohan has done no wrong to these people at all.
- I'm side eyeing the hell out of 'we pardon you for attacking us but you must swear an oath never to cross the river in arms again' in the same breath as telling them they may return "free" to their land. Yes, it would be great if no one ever marched anywhere in arms but what right does Rohan have to demand this oath? It's a means of protecting their people, great, but what Right have they and Why do they make no similar pledge? I'd sure like to know what the political situation is between these two because the fact is I don't, and this story doesn't focus on it, but the picture it's painting makes me feel icky.
On Commentary:
- the purpose of pointing out potentially colonialist narratives in fiction is not to fling accusations or win social awareness points. The way we interact with fiction is entwined with the way we act irl towards real people, and the goal here is to collectively root out gross frameworks of thought that are baked into us by the powers that be that profit from injustice. Team work makes the dream work
- it is because I enjoy lotr so much that I devote thought to being critical of it. (Hell, this is barely even criticism.) This is learning, not mudslinging. "Bad person for enjoying media" is not a game we play in my house.
-Characters behaving badly is not evidence that the author is ignorant or malicious, or that he isn't, and in fact authorial intent is entirely beside my point at the moment. The text must be able to stand on its own. Deciding which people are Good (aware) and Bad (ignorant) is silly, unhelpful, and a distraction. No one is immune to bias, and no one is incapable of change.
