Michele Bullock to replace Lowe as RBA governor
Deputy Reserve Bank governor Michele Bullock will become Australia’s first female central bank governor. Ms Bullock, who was among the favourites to replace Philip Lowe, was anointed by cabinet on Friday morning.
Lowe has become a figure of public anger for the poor guidance the bank gave during the pandemic when it speculated the cash rate would stay at the record low of 0.1 per cent until 2024. It has increased 12 times since May last year
Ms Bullock is considered by current and former RBA officials and board members to have not put a foot wrong since becoming the first female deputy in the bank’s 62-year history. She is a seasoned economist with good communication and people skills.

THE PRINCE OF EGYPT 1998
But I was their enemy. I was the prince of Egypt, the son of the man who slaughtered... their children! You've chosen the wrong messenger! H-how can I even speak to these people?

Ok I am a really huge fan of the classic late 80s to 90s sitcom Full House and enjoy the new one as well but the original holds a special place in my heart ♥️
FULL HOUSE OC 🏡
Adrianna “Jordan” Katsopolis ~ She-Hulk 📋
Tumblr media
- Uncle Jesse and Pamela younger sister. She moved in with Jesse and Joey after Danny asked for them to come over and help raise his daughters.
- Nicknames —> Jory, Jo, Jodie, Adrian, She-Hulk, Anna, and etc
- Speaking of Joey, she’s is particularly his other half and with Jesse, they are a trio. They get into the craziest things and always doing something hilariously weird that you can’t help but join in. The fact that they haven’t ended up in jail for something stupid while paired up is a surprise to many but that doesn’t mean they’ve haven’t gotten caught in the act before.
- But when Danny is brought into the mix of their daily shenanigans originally, it’s a unstoppable force of 4 friends! They are such caregivers at heart with such different but similar personalities, the funny band of grown ups with humor of 14 year olds sometimes always cracking jokes, wanting the best for each other and so much more.
Tumblr media
- Jordan is clever, easygoing, gentle and can be resourceful! However sometimes she will play pranks and jokes, even jokingly manipulate one of the guys into doing something
- Aunt and Mother figure to the girls (DJ, Stephenie and Michelle) they are all her babies. She’s a true caregiver and tends to becomes very soft around her girls. Skipping out on work days, rejecting or leaving her dates, and staying at home a lot in general just to be with her 3 little angels! Especially the years when Michelle was a baby, she spent more time at home.
- Each one the girls had their special person come to for certain things, just having a type of relationship with the guys. But with Jordan, she is like their second mom, the girls coming to her for anything and everything especially if the guys couldn’t handle it.
- Braiding hair, picking out clothing, issues at school, boy trouble, advice on things, passions they have at the moment, hugs and kisses, taking care of them when they’re hurt or sick, just need someone to hear them out and etc, Jordan is there!
- And if asked, which one of those angels are her favorite? She has no favorite. Yeah she’ll joke if something happens and say, “Steph at the moment, you’re my favorite.” Causing the girls to laugh or smile proudly. Or she would’ve coo at toddler Michelle saying, “Who’s my pretty girl? You are!”
~~~~
- A bit of a grumpy Defense Lawyer when she doesn’t get her morning coffee or something sweet in her system by the middle of the day. Since she has a huge sweet tooth, most specifically cupcakes and donuts.
- She is single but goes on plenty of dates over the course of the show. (Ends up with Danny Tanner in the later seasons)
- Jordan is known for her witty comebacks, nerdy about music and movies jokester personality when she’s around loved ones. However she is a bit of a babbler mouth and knows a lot more than she leads on.
- Also has a bit of a temper, that is well under control if i may I add and for being kind hearted woman. But sometimes her She-Hulk tends to come out! The group calls her out on it then they all jokes about it once She-Hulk disappears and she back to calm Jordan.
- But when Jordan temper sent up volumes, you better make sure that your in the clear. Sometimes she will slip and yell out stuff like “I can and will sue you!”, “I oughta-let me at ‘em!”, “Excuse me?! Oh heck no.”, and the list goes on. Usually it’s fine but Kimmy Gibbler can piss her off or someone may just annoy her.
~~~~~
Sometimes there is some to hold her back and other times…
“Joey, grab her!” Jesse yells racing off after the woman into the living room, “Jory come back, I didn’t mean it.”
Joey stood up from the couch and caught her by the waist holding her down yelling, “Woah, woah, woah hold on road runner! What happened here?”
“Jess made me look what you would consider bad in front one of DJs teacher and proceeded to flirt with her in front of everyone.” Jordan explained, trying to get out of his grip.
Joey gave him a pointed look, “Jess.”
“What? I was far more interesting than her and the other teachers were more interested me in anyway.” Jesse tried to explain and even added, “Hey at least, it went well..for me at least!”
“Jess.”
“Joseph you should’ve seen it, I was killing it. And I got to speak with the history guy and-”
Jordan grew upset and Joey smirked at her. He let her go. They didn’t let Jesse finish as Joey shouted, “Get ‘em!” The pair chased Jesse around the house as his screams and yelps could be heard. Until they reached the backyard out of breath.
Jesse put his hands up, “Hey, hey wait! I’m sorry I messed up.”
“And?” Jordan glared as Joey stood behind her, “You made me look like the uninteresting aunt!”
“Again, I’m sorry. I knew she wouldn’t care about us the second she started to talk, so I joked and flirted to lighten the mood. And I got something in return..”
Joey spoke, “Uh Jess, a gift from the school store isn’t gonna fix anything.”
“On the contrary my friend, DJ’s teacher gave me the opportunity to speak with the History teacher…”
“Yeah so?”
“We get to go bowling together next Friday…”
Jordan rolled her eyes having enough of this and about to walk inside when she heard her brother speak again. “And I got his number! He wants to go on a date with a certain someone.” Said Jesse holding up a post-it note causing Jordan to spin back around grinning.
“Really?” Jordan asked with a dazzling grin and raised eyebrows.
Joey chuckled, “Wait you got her a date with Mr Hunter? I’ve been friends with him for months, I could’ve helped!”
It turned out fine for everyone!
~~~~
- Becky is her gal! The two became friends quickly and fitted very nicely together, always coming to each other for advice, helping one another out. Girls Day Out on the streets of San Francisco, gossip about anything and everyone, the list goes on.
Tumblr media
- AND when Jesse finally dated Becky, Jordan was more excited that her best friends, this girl was over the moon! Of course that meant she was stuck in the middle of their crazy couple shenanigans, having to root for them, and pushing one or the other to make a decision on something. Most of the time it was hilarious seeing the funniest stories take place in front of her, roasting them, Jordan set them up on a few dates and dragged on double dates with them.
—-
And that’s what I got so far! There is so much more Full House lore I could say but I’ll be here all day. I hope you enjoyed it 🖇
(Archive) Animated movie of the day: The Prince of Egypt (1998)
Originally posted: January 6th, 2022 No, I'm not a man of faith. In fact, I can be very critical of it. So I can't say in all honesty that I agree in the slightest with the theological and moral views or the historical descriptions in the Old Testament. However, I can find artistic merit in a well told story, which is very much the case of this film.
This early Dreamworks production is by no means the only cinema retelling of the story of Moses and the captivity of Israel in the land of Egypt (one of Hollywood's biggest epics is The Ten Commandments (1956) after all). What this version of the story does that others don't, however, is bring a human layer to a part of the story that simply wasn't there before. The aforementioned epic and even the Biblical recounting seem to mostly skim over this part, but Moses and the Pharaoh(who wasn't specified as Ramses in the Book of Exodus yet is referred as such in this and other films) used to be brothers. Adoptive of course, but this means the antagonistic relationship they're put through given the conflict should've meant more to them than just making demands to each other or spouting lines about which God is the true one.
That's the one true strength of the film. I don't agree with God's approach in this tale, but the movie's very compelling drama puts in perspective why people would. You can empathise with Moses here, seeing his plight as an israelite that can't turn a blind eye to the suffering of "just slaves" anymore. You can also empathise with Ramses, always craving for the respect of his father but never feeling earning of it, and being torn between his former brother and his duty as the ruler of the land.
It surpasses one of Hollywood's biggest classics not because of a bigger scope, but rather a smaller one, that also manages to be more accurate to the Biblical accounts with fewer liberties. It should be telling of it's quality that even as an atheist I still earnestly recommend this film.
Year of Lists
March Films
more awards-related stuff and then FREEDOM (what I chose to do with it is another thing but one thing I cannot be judged for is there are a LOT of movies this month, and that is positive)
must-watches in bold (these are in relation to other movies watched, and the time, not necessarily must-watches of all time)
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always (2023) *6ish, I guess? - does this count? It's nostalgia in an hour's worth. it's every bit as bad as you would hope. Great stuff.
American Fiction (2023) *7.5 - hell yeah. Finally, something important done in a pleasant, human, enjoyable way (see how much I sobbed during this awards season: so.many.super.sad movies - or if not sad, just.so.much, overall). Performances are out of this world; it has everything: humour, nuance, a bit of romance, a bit of sadness; it was so damn good to watch.
The Zone of Interest (2023) *6 - how do you rate this? that six is not representative of the movie at all, but here we are. Everything you've heard about this is true: it's masterful, definitely a gut punch, Sandra Hüller is having a great year; the sound(track) is out of this world. It says so much with so little. Yes, it's a movie about the Holocaust, but it's also, really, a movie about how we stand by and allow atrocities to happen. It's a movie about humanity's cruellest side: indifference - right now, and then, and always. There is much to be said here, a lot of conversation was around how Schindler's List worked as a movie, therefore, romanticised, by the movie lens, the Holocaust. I can see how The Zone of Interest tried really hard not to do that, and I can confidently say it's done so much for exposing how useless we can be in the face of tragedy, but with every day that passes, I keep thinking more and more that it hasn't escaped that movie lens. However, it does really well at asking the question of whether we can portray atrocities of this kind, and does it really make a difference when we try?
Dune: Part Two (2024) *7.5 - umm, this is so long I need to rewatch it to even have a formed opinion. In lieu of a rewatch, here are my current thoughts: it wouldn't have been half the movie it is without the soundtrack. Also currently my favourite soundtrack of all time. I could rave and rave about it. The performances were great all round. I really love that Villeneuve doesn't try to constantly capture people like the mega starts they are: see Timmy's double chin, constipated face, present in both movies, and at a close-up at that. Some scenes were visually and emotionally breathtaking but I'm not sure if this was the case because of the anticipation of seeing something loved in a book portrayed on screen. It felt busy and a bit disjointed, especially in comparison to Part 1. I so wish they'd done the romance differently. I was constantly thinking of The Bear and how well that worked there. I wish they'd let Paul and Chani's connection breathe and mature, taken us along for the ride.
Alice, Darling (2022) *6 - this gave How to Have Sex vibes. I love when a movie addresses difficult subjects (in this case, abuse) in a slice-of-life, uber real, awkward way. It dexterously looks at the outward indicators of abuse, the responsibility of friendship - some mild body horror for both symbolic and literal purposes.
The Sixth Sense (1999) *7.5 - they don't make them like this anymore. Boy, do I envy anyone who hasn't watched this and doesn't know anything about it. If you know that person, please, make them known, I want to sit them down and pop this in the cassette player (Netflix or Prime or whatever, but you know). It's only the second time I watched this because I thought there wasn't much reason to, apart from nostalgia. Surely, it's just so worthy because of the set-up. Yeah, yeah, I was wrong. I had to pause a couple of times to allow myself to digest the mastery of what this movie is when YOU DO KNOW.
Scarface (1983) *7 - what can I say? Yup, it's great. Colours are a highlight, as is Michelle Pfeiffer.
A Time to Kill (1996) *6 - disclaimer: I am going through legal dramas, I love 'em. This was fun, much more timely than I expected. Samuel L Jackson has a beautiful, beautiful speech. A man fancies a woman that is not his wife, and she is pretty, and young, and smart, and she ignites a spark in him, and she believes in what he's doing in all the ways his wife doesn't, and yet, said man doesn't cheat on said wife. Woohoo. I'm all for complexity and non-monogamy (when both, or more parties, agree to it) but it is just so beautiful to see a good marriage challenged and withstand the challenge. Bonus points for young Matthew McConaughey and infant Sandy Bullock. It's serious, it's legal fun, a bit naïve; the nineties in a two and a half hour ride.
Rush Hour; Rush Hour 2; Rush Hour 3 (1998) (2001) (2007) *6 *6 *5 - WAR UGH ... SO MUCH FUN. Yeah, they shouldn't be bunched together, yeah, a lot of it reads problematic, yeah, I wish I'd been watching them all my life. Great stuff. Don't look away at all the racist jokes, both ways, and any other way you can imagine. This is a superb example of looking at what we made for fun: there's so much to digest, learn from, appreciate. I LOVE JACKIE CHAN. When I was a kid, it was considered embarrassing to appreciate his work. I had a stupid-ass, DUH, moment of realisation watching this: oh, that 'martial arts movies are sub-par' idea? Yeah, blatant racism. It feels so good to come to this now. Side-note: Zhang Ziyi showing up in 2, what a treat. I'm not one for recycling material but can we have Rush Hour 4 please, please, please?
Blow Out (1981) *6 - another Brian de Palma, another good movie with its merits. Some of it was delicious in a movie buff way, but I was bored nonetheless. If you're into your legal, crime, journalistic slow-burners, go for it.
Decision to Leave (2022) *9 - triple bold. This is my favourite movie. It has been since I saw it in the cinema and cried in the toilets after. It is a masterpiece, Park Chan-Wook might well be my favourite director. There are not enough good things or good enough words I could say. Here's the best I can do rn: noir at its best, romance at its most complex, human nature at its barest, lyricism, depth, story for days, really unapologetic storytelling, no infantilising the audience here, crime at its most beautiful, and potentially the best ending scene cinema has ever seen. Watch this, watch The Handmaiden, watch Stoker, watch Oldboy (when I watch more of his movies, they'll be added to this). They're all in my great movies of all time (fictional) list. Side-note: WE ARE SLEEPING ON KOREAN CINEMA. We're getting there, but we're not even close. Still underrated.
Joy Ride (2023) *6 - does what it says on the tin. Also SO MUCH FUN.
IDC who you are, what your religious beliefs are, what your social standing is, gender, sex, preference whatever. You should watch The Prince of Egypt 1998
It is such a beautiful movie, with an amazing story, gorgeous animation, and a killer soundtrack along with a cast that honestly I wouldn't have expected. IDK I'm watching it again, I grew up with this movie, I got my agnostic partner to watch and fall in love with it, I don't follow any religion now but it doesn't matter, because it's such a powerful movie I really believe anyone can enjoy it.
And okay because I'm sure people will bring up the extremely valid point that the casting isn't the most accurate to race, I understand, I really truly do and I don't dismiss those points being made. I will say though, that this movie is from the late 90s, and unfortunately those things were a lot more common, and it doesn't diminish how beautiful this film is. I truly feel people who appreciate a good story, animation, and or music will be able to take something out of it. Religious or not.
I mean, if you still don't believe me check out the Plague scene
