I’ve just been hit with this thought. And bare with me because this is confusing.
Okay so the actress that plays Rosalind also played the villain in the show Timeless. She kind of had it out for the main girl character (ironically also named Lucy, I kid you not) and at the end of the show there’s a little fight and the main actress from timeless (Lucy) says to Anne Wersching’s character (Emma)
“What do you do, to the woman who has taken everything from you, my mother, my sister, what do you do” and honestly it’s a POWERFUL scene and Timeless Lucy is a boss, and she for once gets to have this battle out herself to the woman who has essentially been toying with her mentally. And I just need this to be repeated by Rookie Lucy and Rosalind.
I also need all my rookie moots to go binge Timeless on Hulu, I know my chenford moots would love it and the ship. It’s fully out and wrapped up! (Sadly, it was my favorite show)
Anyway, once you watch the scene I’m talking about with the full context you’ll be like “yes! This! We need this!” Or I’m assuming you will 😂

Please share some links to help understand roe v Wade better and also how it impacts the people
well roe v. wade was the 1973 supreme court decision that affirmed that a woman has a constitutionally protected right, to an extent, to terminate a pregnancy. the right stems from the penumbral theory of privacy rights, that all specifically enumerated rights in the bill of rights (right to be free of unreasonable searches/seizures, right not to have to let soldiers stay in your house lol) are undergirded by a concept of privacy so fundamental that it didn't need to be explicitly stated. roe v. wade established the trimester framework, in which the government interest in "protecting life"/regulating abortion increases the longer a pregnancy goes on.
roe v. wade was essentially chipped away at over the years, including, most significantly, planned parenthood v. casey, which was decided in 1992. casey held that states can enact all kinds of barriers to access to abortion, so long as it does not create an "undue burden".
basically, the undue burden standard was pretty toothless until the 2013 decision of whole women's health v. hellerstedt, finding that the texas scheme which was allegedly about requiring admittance privileges at hospitals for a doctor to hand out abortion pills in the first trimester, a scheme would essentially force all existing clinics to close, was an undue burden.
that was a big happy decision. then, 3 years later, trump elected, mitch mcconnell steals the seat that belonged to merrick garland, installs neil gorsuch. then a federalist society quid pro quo scheme to get anthony kennedy to retire and a promise that brett kavanaugh would fill his seat, then RBG dies (because she kind of arrogantly wanted HRC to fill her seat, but honestly mcconnell would have just stolen her seat had she retired during obama's second term anyway so), and barrett is rushed through the confirmation process - with like no fucking trial experience - while people are alreaDY VOTING in the 2020 election...
and then whole women's health v. jackson (the texas third party bounty law) and dobbs... and now states can outlaw abortion in its entirety and/or criminalize abortion. and any doctor still willing to help women who don't want to be pregnant, and any woman who tries to end her own pregnancy, can face criminal and civil charges in any state that chooses to enact such a statutory scheme.
i'd recommend people to the works of kate shaw, melissa murray, and leah litman, & their production, the strict scrutiny podcast for analysis. check out whole woman's health action page (here)
& the worlds most terrifying article: we're not going back to the time pre-roe. we're going somewhere worse.
Both abortion and miscarriage currently occur more than a million times each year in America, and the two events are often clinically indistinguishable. Because of this, prohibition states will have a profoundly invasive interest in differentiating between them. Some have already laid the groundwork for establishing government databases of pregnant women likely to seek abortions. Last year, Arkansas passed a law called the Every Mom Matters Act, which requires women considering abortion to call a state hotline and requires abortion providers to register all patients in a database with a unique I.D. Since then, six other states have implemented or proposed similar laws. The hotlines are provided by crisis pregnancy centers: typically Christian organizations, many of which masquerade as abortion clinics, provide no health care, and passionately counsel women against abortion. Crisis pregnancy centers are already three times as numerous as abortion clinics in the U.S., and, unlike hospitals, they are not required to protect the privacy of those who come to them. For years, conservative states have been redirecting money, often from funds earmarked for poor women and children, toward these organizations. The data that crisis pregnancy centers are capable of collecting—names, locations, family details, sexual and medical histories, non-diagnostic ultrasound images—can now be deployed against those who seek their help.
and
If you become pregnant, your phone generally knows before many of your friends do. The entire Internet economy is built on meticulous user tracking of purchases and search terms. Laws modelled on Texas’s S.B. 8, which encourages private citizens to file lawsuits against anyone who facilitates an abortion, will proliferate, giving self-appointed vigilantes no shortage of tools to track and identify suspects. (The National Right to Life Committee recently published policy recommendations for anti-abortion states that included criminal penalties for anyone who provides information about self-managed abortion “over the telephone, the internet, or any other medium of communication.”) A reporter for Vice recently spent a mere hundred and sixty dollars to purchase a data set on visits to more than six hundred Planned Parenthood clinics. Brokers sell data that make it possible to track journeys to and from any location—say, an abortion clinic in another state. In Missouri, this year, a lawmaker proposed a measure that would allow private citizens to sue anyone who helps a resident of the state get an abortion elsewhere; as with S.B. 8, the law would reward successful plaintiffs with ten thousand dollars. The closest analogue to this kind of legislation is the Fugitive Slave Act of 1793
and
Pregnancy is more than thirty times more dangerous than abortion. One study estimates that a nationwide ban would lead to a twenty-one-per-cent rise in pregnancy-related deaths. Some of the women who will die from abortion bans are pregnant right now. Their deaths will come not from back-alley procedures but from a silent denial of care: interventions delayed, desires disregarded. They will die of infections, of preëclampsia, of hemorrhage, as they are forced to submit their bodies to pregnancies that they never wanted to carry, and it will not be hard for the anti-abortion movement to accept these deaths as a tragic, even noble, consequence of womanhood itself.
and
In the meantime, abortion bans will hurt, disable, and endanger many people who want to carry their pregnancies to term but who encounter medical difficulties. Physicians in prohibition states have already begun declining to treat women who are in the midst of miscarriages, for fear that the treatment could be classified as abortion. One woman in Texas was told that she had to drive fifteen hours to New Mexico to have her ectopic pregnancy—which is nonviable, by definition, and always dangerous to the mother—removed. Misoprostol, one of the abortion pills, is routinely prescribed for miscarriage management, because it causes the uterus to expel any remaining tissue. Pharmacists in Texas, fearing legal liability, have already refused to prescribe it. If a miscarriage is not managed to a safe completion, women risk—among other things, and taking the emotional damage for granted—uterine perforation, organ failure, infection, infertility, and death.
and
In Texas, already, children aged nine, ten, and eleven, who don’t yet understand what sex and abuse are, face forced pregnancy and childbirth after being raped. Women sitting in emergency rooms in the midst of miscarriages are being denied treatment for sepsis because their fetuses’ hearts haven’t yet stopped. People you’ll never hear of will spend the rest of their lives trying and failing, agonizingly, in this punitive country, to provide stability for a first or fifth child they knew they weren’t equipped to care for.
so yeah.

I only watched like 6 episodes of Season 4 and almost gave up on The Rookie all together. But Mr. Eric Winter says that Tim developed feelings for Lucy through season 4 so I wanted to see how that played out and see the other storylines and see if I can get through it after enjoying where the whole show ends up in Season 5.
So here are Random observances for those that care to read after rewatching Season 4 episode 5 A.C.H:
I miss BA Lucy often. That was one of the reasons I first binged the show in the first place. This character's intelligence and wisdom were and will always be appealing to watch. Melissa O Neil is a joy
Tamera and Lucy this season=top tier. This apartment drama was and still is interesting to watch. I'd love to see more Angela and Lucy scenes too
Narratively, There are SO MANY mentions about Lucy's fertility, inability to find a partner, and loneliness in general. I can see now her getting all of these things is the focus. And the conversation with Tim about his aspirations sadly sets it up for him to be looking for someone to fulfill that unmet dream ( aka Ashley :( ) If you didn't know about Chenford, you'd never know it was with the other by just watching this episode ( but that was a major flaw with 90% of Season 4)
They foreshadowed Metro!! I never noticed that before. Tim and Nolan talk about Metro and it's brief but enough
Angela-love her, love her
BONES alum siting!
Pete and Nolan is delightful this episode. Peter Davidson allows the real Nathan Fillion to shine as Nolan in my opinion. Still not sold on Bailey, I forgot this whole season emphasized them and her
Side Note: while writing this it went into the next episode and Jerry's comments to Tim about him being proud of him and acknowledging his pain..ughh this (Tim) childhood trauma survivor didn't stand a chance not getting closer to Jerry, therefore Ashley. I will always be impressed with Eric Winter's ability to act down to his fingertips and he's believable as a childhood trauma survivor from his facial expressions, body language and reactions. *chefs kiss*

The balance of power in the US Supreme Court was tilted heavily in favor of conservatism in the wake of Justice Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the court. However, some recent events have raised the eyebrows of the political ideologists about the paradigm shift in the US Supreme Court. Despite the pervasiveness of the conservative justices, the court is certainly is not as conservative as it was supposed to be. In times when the court is dominated by conservatism, some decisions in favor of liberalism are making the leftists happy. Seeing this, the Biden administration is more than satisfied, since if he succeeds in expanding the Supreme Court, the balance will be tilted further in their favor, increasing the liberalism in the US Supreme Court. [caption id="attachment_7417" align="aligncenter" width="2048"] Chief Justice John G. Roberts, who was supposed to be the right-hand man of Donald Trump, yet he drifted away from conservatism.[/caption] Chief Justice John Roberts: A Conservative yet the Advocate of Liberalism in the US Supreme Court: Chief Justice John Roberts was supposed to be one of the most conservative justice and a right-hand man of Donald Trump in the US Supreme Court. Having him as the chief justice meant death to liberalism in the US Supreme Court. However, shockingly, when he gave ruling in Trump’s most sought-after financial records last summer, it was a drift from the conservatism ideology. Many assumed that he has moved to the liberal faction, or to the center, to say the least. According to the justice pairing data by Adam Feldman for SCOUTSBlog, Chief Justice John Roberts aligned more with Justice Elena Kagan, who is a liberal, than with other conservative justices. Chief Justice Roberts also backed liberals’ stance in some high-profile cases, but most of them were limited in scope. However, despite having a soft corner for liberalism, he still has a tendency toward conservatism. Melissa Murray, a law professor at New York University, also summed up this assumption that Chief Justice John Roberts is moving toward the center. She feels it should be viewed differently, i.e., the court itself is moving towards the right. So, the Chief Justice must move in the middle to keep the balance, and this is what he is doing right now, instead of promoting liberalism in the US Supreme Court. It is next to impossible to deduce the inclination of the whole court by seeing the voting pattern of the Chief Justice as being the head of the court; he is likely to practice different ideologies based on the circumstances. [caption id="attachment_5499" align="aligncenter" width="2021"] Former President Donald Trump whose financial record's case was the beginning of the US Supreme Court drifting away from conservatism.[/caption] Trump’s Tax Return: A Case which Encouraged Liberals Last summer, the Supreme Court ruled against former President Donald Trump’s claim regarding presidential immunity on any legal order to release his financial details. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in a 7-2 majority verdict that granting such immunity to Trump is against the 200-years-old precedent. The Chief Justice joined four liberal judges along with two other conservatives in this ruling. Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh were the other two conservative justices who went against Donald Trump. This was the moment when hopes were raised about the paradigm shift in the US Supreme Court, as it was seen as the increasing liberalism in the US Supreme Court. However, the court also denied immediate access to the president’s documents by the House of Representatives.  Then came the landmark ruling of the DACA program, which also suggested the rise of liberalism in the US Supreme Court. Upholding the Obama-era program was never expected of the Supreme Court, and which is why this decision surprised many. Conservative Court Protecting LGBTQ and Abortion Rights: Not a Normal Day at the Office
The verdict of the Supreme Court on the LGBTQ rights and abortion cases was also seen as a victory for progressives.  In the Bostock and Harris Funeral Homes case, the decision given by Conservative Judge Neil Gorsuch in a 6-3 decision held that the state ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional.  The June Medical Services decision was hailed as a victory of abortion rights advocates, which would never be possible had the Supreme Court practiced rigid conservatism. In this case, the court ruled with a 5-4 majority that the restriction on abortion was a violation of the Constitution.   Supreme Court on Religion: A Final Nail in The Coffin Religion has been primarily a litmus test for scrutinizing the political ideologies of the US Supreme Court justices. The court’s opinion on religion could be extracted through three cases from last year; Little Sisters of the Poor, Our Lady of Guadalupe School, and Espinoza v. Montana. The Little Sisters case was globally followed as it referred to contraception and the Affordable Care Act of the Obama Administration. In this case, the court endorsed that the Trump Administration had granted a much broader exception for some people belonging to a particular religious group to be exploited by the employers.  The majority opinion gave the idea that the government should respect the religious beliefs of marginalized groups, which also signifies the increasing liberalism in the US Supreme Court. Respecting the marginalized community was also seen as a move towards liberalism in the US Supreme Court.   Final Thoughts The final nail in the coffin seems to be the US Supreme Court’s decision in the Texas lawsuit in the aftermath of Trump’s claim of voter fraud. Having decisions along the liberal grounds despite having a dominant majority in the US Supreme Court is not normal. The nomination of Justice Amy Coney Barrett was seen by many as the win for conservatism, and it indeed was, but it has not unfolded as Donald Trump and the company envisioned it. Now, when the Biden administration is looking for the expansion of the Supreme Court to put more liberal justices in it, the conservatives have much to worry about as it can be the ultimate hack of the liberals to win the US Supreme Court.   Video Summary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7tYLU86HvU

An Interview with Joseph Mallozi, Creator of Dark Matter
An Interview with Joseph Mallozi, Creator of Dark Matter
I had the opportunity to talk with the creator of one of my favorite shows, Dark Matter, Joseph Mallozzi about the show and its cancellation after the third season.  Here’s what he had to say about that. How did you come up with the idea for Dark Matter? I’ve always been a big fan of bad guys and the notion of redemption, so I built a series around these narrative elements. I wanted to take a…
