Now that Honkai part 1 is over, I really hope Mihoyo dubs it in more languages. I know that it’d be a lot of catch-up work, but it’s just a very text heavy game and it’s an absolute bitch to get through if you’re like me and have both adhd and eye tracking issues so I think it would make the game a lot more accessible

Inuvember 2023 Part 1
In honor of @inuvember InuKag Day, the Archive Mods have put together a 30 item InuKag recommendation list: one InuKag fic per prompt. Since this list is longer than our usual, we've split it into two parts. Enjoy!
Day 1 Inuyasha
I Hate That Fucking Well by @kstewdeux (M)
Post-manga. Inuyasha POV. Inuyasha's inner thoughts and monologues. Rated M for fucking language
Day 2 Kagome
Cinnamon Hearts by @fandomobsessions016 (M)
"So, you may be wondering, what’s this story about anyway? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s about how this queen, almost lost her crown, her throne, but worst of all… it’s about how this queen almost lost her king…
Hindsight, of course, has perfect vision, but at the time I did not. I was a girl becoming a woman who fought bitterly against change that was inevitable. I didn’t want to open my eyes. I didn’t want to see what was right in front of me.
What I wanted more than anything was to keep Inuyasha.
High school forced my eyes open, tested our “unshakable” bond and made me confront my biggest fear. All because…
I caught feelings for my best friend.
I like-liked my king."
Day 3 Sango
Forever Home by KittyKatz (M)
How long had he roamed the earth in a form that was not his? Beaten, dirty and caged, he finds one last bit of fortune when she comes to rescue him from this place. But his road to redemption will not be easy. And he will find, that no matter how the world has changed, his old enemy remains. And this time, they plan to destroy him once and for all.
Day 4 Miroku
Under the Northern Lights by @lostinfantasyworlds (E)
Kagome Higurashi has her dream job, working as a photographer for the internationally well-known Yugen magazine. Her career whisks her all around the world, leaving her feeling lonely sometimes but mostly just incredibly grateful to be doing what she loves. When she gets assigned to Alaska for a month to photograph a series of celestial events, she runs into Inuyasha, a half-demon who lives on his own in the middle of nowhere. A mutual attraction draws them to each other, but Kagome's time there is limited. Will giving in to their desire lead to love or heartbreak?
Day 5 Shippo
Oh, But You're Good To Me by @witchygirl99 (E)
It’s a terrible photo, really. The action figure takes up the entire bottom of the screen and part of both of their faces. Shippo’s giggling though, eyes shut and crinkled in his mirth while Inuyasha looks at him. His expression is clearly fond. It’s the softest Inuyasha has ever, ever seen himself.
This is fatherhood, he thinks a little wildly.
He sends the photo to Kagome.
Inuyasha is a single father. Shippo is his adopted son. Kagome isn't supposed to be in the picture, but somehow, she returns anyways. A story about family, love, and all of its obstacles.
Day 6 Sesshomaru
Whispers in the Wind by @ruddcatha (G)
It has been 500 years since Kagome jumped back down the well to be with Inuyasha. A messenger waits to see her family, and is joined by a surprising guest.
Day 7 Rin
My Life Before You by @len-barboza (E) -- based on a story by Mizune-mei
No English language summary provided.
Day 8 Kikyou
Stolen Soul by Kimberly-A (T)
COMPLETE Kikyo uses a spell to exchange bodies with Kagome, leaving Kagome stuck in the dead shell and Kikyo comfortably human. In the aftermath, Inu-Yasha faces difficult choices. InuKag, not very Kikyo-friendly.
Day 9 Koga
A New Moon, A New Start by @pinestripes (T)
Kouga visits the village near the Sacred Tree. On this particular evening, he finds that a certain half-demon is more on edge than usual.
Day 10 Kagura
The Portal Between Worlds by @neutronstarship (E)
Ten years ago, a portal transported Inuyasha from the demon realm to the human realm. Now a half-demon alone in a world he doesn't understand, he will do anything to get home. When Onigumo brings him a book with all the answers, Inuyasha pushes aside his misgivings and works with the man. He just wants to get home, after all.
Kagome just wants to make an extra buck (and find demons), much to Kikyo’s chagrin. That is why she published Demons Among Us! after all. But strange things start happening when she puts the book online. As if people are using it to open the portals that it hypothesized… When Kagura and Sango join the fray, the stakes grow higher as they try to find the source of the portals.
When Inuyasha encounters Kagome, fate is not what it seems. Not one, but two realms are in danger for their survival. What happens when the final portal opens and an unknowable terror is unleashed? Can the Demon Hunters save the world?
Day 11 Naraku
You Rescued Me by @keizfanfiction (E)
Maybe it was fate that he decided to take the back way home that night, but whatever the reason, Inuyasha was grateful for arriving just in the nick of time to rescue a waif of a woman who had clearly been through hell. He never would have imagined that she would end up rescuing him, too.
Day 12 Band of Seven
Delicate by @akitokihojo (T)
To trust someone, to let them in, what an unsettling ordeal. Kagome is easy and safe, and Inuyasha is difficult and guarded. She can put him at ease with a smile, simultaneously setting him on edge. It was nothing until it was something, creating absolute chaos and uncertainty within the both of them.
Day 13 Jinenji/ Shiori
How Does Your Garden Grow? by @dawnrider (M)
An Ingary-esque AU: Kagome, the newest generation of caretakers of the Higurashi House, finally starts to feel like her garden and business is thriving with the help of her friend Jinenji. Their routine is thrown off by the arrival of an injured visitor who does not want to be found...
Day 14 Toga
Taisho School of Acting: A Quick Guide by @jeremymarsh (G)
“Excuse me, what?” Kagome looked at her best friend with eyes as big as saucers, lips parted, and her mind replaying what he had said a moment before – trying to find a sense but to no avail. “You heard me.” Inuyasha scowled, looking down, arms crossed and lips pouting, just like he did every time he didn’t like the topic at hand. The problem was he had started it this time. “Yeah, I did.” Kagome shook her head and inhaled deeply before she continued. “And that’s why I’m asking you to repeat yourself since I’m having problems believing that certain sentences left your mouth.” “I said,” Inuyasha started through clenched teeth, still not meeting her gaze, “come to my family Christmas dinner this Sunday.” He stopped, ran a hand through his silver mane, closed his eyes, murmured something unintelligible and then added: “As my girlfriend.”
Where Inuyasha tries to fool his parents and miserably fails.
Day 15 Izayoi
The Silence of Daisies by Fierywenchxo (T)
Inuyasha shares with Kagome one of the biggest secrets he's ever kept. One-shot.

Translated via google:
"I can imagine the marriage proposal: they just defeated LBD to get their daughter Bai He back, Sun Wukong thinks about proposing to Liu'er Mihou, only he says it out loud (I think he planned to ask for her hand a long time ago, but there was never an opportunity), it would be a change of scenery with everything that happened <3"
Its a really emotional proposal. After a pretty big intense battle like against LBD, everbody just winds down at the noodle shop for a bit.
Meanwhile; Sun Wukong and Macaque are lying on top of the apartment's roof, just relaxing and staring at the stars. Just so gotdang happy to have one another back for good.
Wukong, thinking outloud: "By buddha, I want you to marry me." Macaque, smiling, ears twitching: "Then do it coward." Wukong: *realises what he just said* "Ok I will! Will you, Liu'er Mihou, the love my immortal life, marry me?" Macaque, taken by surprise: "I...! I should have said this hundreds of years ago... Yes, I will!" Wukong and Macaque both: *loud, happy monkey hooting that echo throughout the street* MK, Mei, and Bai He: *sneakily watching from the fire escape* :D! :O! :3!
Princess Iron Fan is the next person to find out, and she Insists on planning the wedding, having been unable to do her own wedding justice back during the Celestial War. Lots of crying and hugging from sworn siblings.
Nezha: "Wait... I thought they were already married???" Tang: "It's too complicated to explain. Just smile and congratulate them."
Ceremony is held on Flower Fruit Mountain obvs.

Honkai’s Treatment of Fu Hua
What i’ve been seeing in the last couple of chapters - ever since the ending of Elysium Everlasting - has been bothering me, especially in terms of their treatment of Fu Hua, hence the title.
The thing that bothers me the most relating to that is how no one seems to react to anything anymore. When Mei inherits the will of the Flamechasers and returns from the destruction of the Elysian Realm, which included the descending of the Current Era Herrscher of Corruption, by the way, everyone just kind of… brushes it off. Kiana and Bronya don’t react, Theresa seems not to care, and Durandal just doesn’t give a fuck?
I know there’re “more important things” going on, but really? REALLY? Raiden Mei met the warriors at the forefront of the fight against Honkai of the Previous Era, she met PE-thought process Kevin, who is their current Big Enemy, and no one even asked her about it? Kiana and Bronya went “oh cool you spoke to the most powerful warriors of the PE and the Herrscher of Origin? okay anyways” and moved on!
Which leads me to their treatment of Fu Hua. Because no one, not even Mei, who knows about Fu Hua’s memory purge, thought to tell her about the Flamechasers. Even if she didn’t realise the ER was a thing, she knew the Flamechasers. She had relationships with them, and so she’d want to know. She’d have a bigger reaction. All of that buildup where Mei skirts around telling sim Hua about future her and then nothing comes out of it? Seriously?
And i’m not saying HYV should have done this specifically for a reaction, because that’s not good writing either, but it completely brushes off that part of her history like it never happened. She knows and remembers Kevin, Su and Aponia, so by that logic, she should remember everyone else. So why not let her know?
Even on the Moon Base, if they didn’t want it in the Main Story, Klein is on the base. Do you mean to tell me Fu Hua never even asked or wondered why Mobius’s assistant was there?
The thing that pisses me off the most is the fact that this seems to suggest the fact that Hua doesn't deserve to or get the right to know that some of her closest friends just disappeared from reality for the rest of time. As if they never existed.
This doesn’t just apply to the Flamechasers. No one tells her anything! They don’t tell her Finality is running a time loop, or that MEI had no faith in Project Ember. Not only does it make Hua take even more Ls it reduces her character to a pitiable mess who doesn’t and has never been treated well and has only ever been seen as a utility by everyone but Kiana. She doesn’t get anything! She was told a lie and suffered for thousands of years because of that lie, and now that she has the chance to know the truth, they blindside and lie to her again?
Her memory purge at this point is just a plot device to not have to wrap up any loose ends and to not give her any characterisation at all. Like you could take the entire Shattered Samsara arc out and nothing would change because the only thing that it served to do was teach Kiana Edge of Taixuan.
And on that note, WHERE IS GARUDA FU HUA HYV??? offscreen 3 minute Garuda reveal. Where is Garuda Hua battlesuit huh?

MORTAL KOMBAT 1 Thoughts Pt1.
[❌❌contains SPOILERS❌❌]
I've been waiting for this for such a long time and we finally got it. Now with MK1 being practically a full reboot, A LOT of changes are to follow. So here are my current thoughts in order how the story went:
Chapter 1
Kung Lao and Raiden being practically brothers is my fave thing in the world.
Half of the MK1 boys are full on babygirl and honestly? I love that for them. Except for Shang Tsung because that feels very much illegal.
That last scene with Madam Bo felt like a fcking fever dream.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN KUAI LIANG IS SCORPION? WHAT THE FCK DO YOU MEAN?? WHERE IS HANZO?? That feels very wrong. Only Hanzo is allowed to say "gET OVER HERE" that is HIS iconic line. I'm not sure if I like this change.
I KNEW the boys were pulling their punches. I KNEW IT. The entire fight felt so awkward and staged. For a short moment I legit thought NRS pushed down on their fighting animation.
Chapter 2
Sooo...Johnny is a failed Actor now? What happened to the glamour? That's not very Cage behavior.
Okay but I love love LOVED Liu Kang literally showing up in front at Johnny's Door all serious, and Johnny being Johnny.
What made NRS choose to paint Kenshi as a former Yakuza?? I mean the idea isn't too bad, because it would make sense for him to be searching for Sento to free his family. But I still prefer his revenge timeline more. Hell, even him being a cocky arse warrior trying to fight anyone and everyone made more sense.
Chapter 3
Idk why but I half expected Kano to show up in this chapter. The trailers made it look like he was at the Wu Shi academy
Liu Kang practically pathed the way for human Raiden to be champion and it shows. I'd like to think it's out of respect for former God Raiden from before, who practically raised Liu Kang and was a father figure to him.
General Shao is so fine, I can't. He was hot before, but now he's so....so..... y'know?
Liu Kang really wanted to give Kitana the loving Fam she deserved qwq
Everyone is so mean to Li Mei :(( I feel so bad for her
Reiko tho😳😳😳
Raiden has a cruuush~ Raiden has a cruuush~ unexpected but cute. I wonder what Liu Kang thinks about this.
Chapter 4
Johnny and Sonya are forever iconic...but Johnny and Kenshi? I didn't know I needed it until I had it. Their bickering is GOLD. They're so married.
Wealthy merchant Baraka???
Props to Quan Chis new look. He looks like a clown escaped asylum. Very uncanny.
Are they...are they trying to redeem Shang Tsung? No,that would be way too obvious. Plus that intro scene with Krusty Kronika makes it super sus.
Called it.
Chapter 5
KENSHIS BLINDFOLD WAS PART OF JOHNNYS ARMOR. Y'all NRS knew what they were doing. I am eating this up
I adore Reptiles human form. Very baby girl, very cute.
So if Tarkat is transmitted via physical contact, wouldn't that mean that the guys would have it too when they fought the prisoners in this chapter? You even see Johnny react in Chapter 4 to that fact when Baraka told them. Could it be that it's not infectious since they're clones/experiments?
So help me out here... Baraka is strong enough to rip the cages open that seem to be made of the same metal as their cell door, but failed to open that? Plot, I know, but c'mon.
REPTILE IS EVEN MORE BABY OMGGGGG. Pls let me hold him,, poor baby boy,, his sadness is literally tugging at my heart strings.
I love how honorable Baraka is. This is great character improvement. For a beast (visually) to be showing mercy. It's like he accepts who he is now but still holds onto that human (edenian) side of him.
Stopping here for tonight, but will continue tomorrow. So far it's going great but I have a hard time remembering which of some stories in this timeline are kept the same as from the previous timeline.
I'm still pleasantly overwhelmed by the amount if babygirls.

About the 7s visual novel's characters and their symbolism
Taking a break from fanfiction to infodump about my favorite thing ever, which is symbolism in etymology! Sit down because this is going to be a long one... and if you read the whole thing I applaud you and also would love to talk about your thoughts!
Lin Zhaoyu
The origin of her name is actually stated in game itself, coming from the Book of Odes- a Chinese poetry book. Meaning literally, "morning rain," it is taken from the following poem. The letters that make up her name are bolded.
蝃蝀在東、莫之敢指。
女子有行、遠兄弟父母。
朝隮于西、崇朝其雨。
女子有行、遠兄弟父母。
乃如之人也、懷昏姻也。
大無信也、不知命也。
Here is the translation of the poem:
Tumblr media
The part about her being untrue to herself in marriage rings very true.
Li Sushang
The symbolism of Sushang's name is connected to that of multiple other characters, despite the literal meaning of it sounding quite simple on the outside. You might see her name via MTL written as "plain clothes," but it's a stark oversimplification of something that's partially lost in translation.
素 (Su) refers to plain silk which has not been dyed, or white silk.
裳 (Shang) is a dress.
The first letter of her name is shared with her mother. Between Sushang, Suyi, Lingshuang, and Su Mei, there is a correlating theme of clothing that I will touch on in each of their sections.
Qin Suyi
As she had amnesia, Suyi does not remember her birth name and was gifted a new one by Fu Hua. Following the trend of how she named Su Mei, her name was also taken from the book of odes. The word Suyi appears in two different poems- again, I've bolded it as written in both.
And the translation:
Tumblr media
The second poem:
庶見素冠兮、棘人欒欒兮、勞心慱慱
兮。
庶見素衣兮、我心傷悲兮、聊與子同歸兮。
庶見素韡兮、我心蘊結兮、聊與子如一兮。
And the translation:
Tumblr media
From the second poem, you can see the references to grief in regard to clothing. While Suyi and Sushang both have the same literal translation of their names, "plain clothes," Suyi's name also carries an additional symbolism. The second letter of her name, 衣 (Yi), refers to a robe instead of a dress, so her name refers to "a robe of colorless silk." This specific term is used in certain contexts to refer to mourning garments, as it is customary to wear white while mourning in some parts of Chinese culture.
This theme of dye is continued in other contexts, where Suyi is known among the Seven Swords as "The Blade of Ink-Dyed Incense." Additionally, her Xuanyuan sword, while known in English as Ebonstyle, is also referred to in Chinese as "Ink-Dyed Incense"- but the word for ink used is different between the two. (It is not letting me copy/paste Chinese words right now so, source: trust me bro)
To delve into my personal thoughts, I think it's so clever that Sushang is "a dress yet to be dyed," while Suyi is a mourning garment, since Sushang still has a long life ahead of her, and Suyi has passed on. Anyways please hit me with a car.
((fun fact: the last letter of Suyi's name, Yi, is shared with Raiden Mei (Yayi), hence why her name comes through MTL as "bud clothes" sometimes 😭😭))
Su Mei
We actually do not know Su Mei's birth name either! She was given a new first name by Fu Hua, and was going to be given Zhaoyu's last name (Lin), but chose to take her mother's surname instead. The reason as to why she chose (or was recommended by Fu Hua) to change her name while still remembering her birth name is unclear.
At Zhaoyu's recommendation, her name also comes from the following poem of the Book of Odes:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is not letting me highlight the text :,) so the part of the poem that is her name is "margin of the water." Mei specifically refers to where the bank of a river meets the water.
Fun fact: Her surname Su is shared with the MANTIS Su! It is said in legend to also be the surname of Xuanyuan's descendants.
At a time where Filial Piety was of the utmost importance, her changing her surname to take her mother's surname is significant. To change your surname from your father's name could be seen the same as disowning him. At the time, women did not change their names to that of their husband when getting married, hence QIN Suyi vs LI Shen or LIN Zhaoyu vs MA Feima.
While not significant to her name itself, she continues Sushang and Suyi's clothing theme. Her ability revolves around being able to see the threads of fate and predict things that may happen. Hence, it is said about her that anything she says will come true. It's never mentioned in the text, but if you zoom in up close to this art of her, you can actually see her threads surrounding her.
Tumblr media
From the threads plus her hair color, it makes me think of the legend of "The Red String of Fate," which is ironic being that she says she does not love anyone.
Cheng Lingshuang
Yes, she does share a surname with Cheng Lixue, but no, they are not related. Lixue was named by Fu Hua, and her surname comes from the philosopher Cheng Yi, and a saying about his disciples waiting for him in the snow, hence Lixue- Snow. Their names are so similarily themed that it's likely not a coincidence on Hua's behalf, but it's more of a homage than them actually being related.
Lingshuang means ice frost. It does not come from the Book of Odes.
To continue the talk on Filial Piety, Lingshuang is the only character to not go by her surname, either in character or on her actual dialogue name tag. She's only referred to as her full name twice, once when she is introduced as a baby, and twice when Senti is beefing with Sushang and low-key throwing shade on her master's name. Lingshuang is a character who ignores societal rules, and Filial Piety is no exception- she has no reason to care about her family or her father, so she disregards her name.
Any instance of her name being translated as "Ling Shuang" is a following mistake on HYV's localization team. (I did personally email them and they fixed it 😭😭😭) It was because the translators did not receive the context that she doesn't use her surname, so they assumed how her name was separated by first and last, as Chinese names don't have spaces between the two. If you spell her name with a space in the middle I will show up at your house at 3am.
The theme of clothes continues from her kid's as she has a loom in her house which she uses to make silk. She says that honing her fingers in such a way is also a way to hone her martial arts.
Ma... Yanqing, Feima
Ma Feima means "the horse is not a horse." He changed his name to this after getting married because he hated his past identity. It comes from "Bai Ma Fei Ma," a Chinese grammatical paradox that does not make sense in English. Don't ask me to explain it because I can't, but it means "the white horse is not a horse."
Ma means horse, and is also the most common surname within the Chinese Muslim community (specifically the Hui people.) It is used often in reference to the prophet Muhammad.
Yan means swallow, continuing Hua's bird theme.
A lot of his names and titles relate to horses. He really likes horses. A lot.
Jiang Wanxi & Wanru
These two get the smallest part because they aren't developed enough for me to GAF (I'm sorry 😭) basically their names come from a poem in the Book of Odes, which is funny since Hua isn't even the one that named them.
Tumblr media
I hope if you read this that you enjoyed this session of Fun Facts With Mel and please tell me your thoughts. I also definitely forgot something so I might go back later and add things. Thank you for reading!

several parallels in tgcf that i think are interesting!
obvious but still worth mentioning: crown prince of wuyong & crown prince of xianle (fall from grace, loss of innocence, and being tormented by the people they failed)
mei nianqing & fangxin guoshi (mentor figures who tried to protect their disciples only for everything to end in tragedy)
feng xin & qi rong (unexpected fatherhood)
hong hong'er, ban yue, & lang qianqiu (greatly impacted by xie lian's presence in their childhood)
mu qing & qi rong (never wanted or trusted by the people around them)
shi wudu & he xuan (chose to swap fates for their own selfish reasons)
wu ming & pei su (forced to see their loved ones experience eternal suffering, which caused them to disguise themselves and forfeit their morals in order to take on their burdens)
xie lian & yin yu (left alone without a purpose after losing their godhood; the appearance of hua cheng at their lowest points unknowingly changed their fates)
quan yizhen & bai jing (eternally devoted to the people they loved to the point where it harmed them)
yushi huang & shi qingxuan (suffered immensely but still maintained their compassionate natures after everything they went through)

I've been really negative about Honkai recently and I'm sorry about that but with everything that's wrong it gets you thinking about how they could have done it better.
So now I'm wondering what ideas people have for Mei's (gestures at her) everything. Instead of just telling us everything Mei is supposed to be and show us Mei growing as a person.
I do want to see what other people think up because by no means is my idea the only good one.
DISCLAIMER: I'm only throwing ideas out, I'm not claiming to be an actual good writer. I'd be a pretentious asshole to think that if I wrote this in a story format rather than an outline that it'd be any good. It'd be worse than what we got. I'm also not blaming the writers for being crunched so bad. It's just a lot of unfortunate circumstances.
Personally I'd go nuts with the beta Crown of Thorns + the ideas introduced in ch 1-2 of Elysian Realm and the story beforehand (Elysia is "perfect" but acts mean).
Tumblr media
Elysia considers herself the perfect human when there's no humanity in her having let the end come because "it's their own fault". As if Mei let Kiana die to her own foolish self sacrificial habits. Her love is a detached one, like she doesn't truly understand what it is to love nor does she understand what she is loving. Humanity is more like a cute plaything than the collection of all people and their hopes and sorrows and hatred and love and everything in between.
The point of the Previous Era was that they were so coldly logical that they lost. They had no love, just look at what happened to RIN, murdered in cold blood and only became a Herrscher because of it. And that basically ALL we knew about the PE for the longest time, the coldblooded murder of a young woman just because she might've been a threat and how Sakura was able to reach RIN and get her to stop killing in the end with love.
Take the examples of love from the PE and crush them under that cold logic. Su being a doctor forced to continually sacrifice the few for the many, going against all he stands for. Griseo growing up in a world so apathetic towards new life. Hua hating Kevin for being Dr. Mei's pawn and killing HIMEKO. Expanding on the throwaway line where she was ostracized for being so close to somebody who became a Herrscher. Eden being so depressed at the loss of art and so much life. Sakura trying to do good by her sister but killing for a living to make it so. I think they really nailed Pardo the first time around. And very importantly, make it clear that MOTH/Dr. Mei's rationality is what caused so much suffering. Despite this, have her thaw out and be understanding even for their worst qualities. As the sims open up, so does she, becoming more like a person again rather than angst with a vague goal.
Contrast all of this with the love Mei has felt through her life. Her few interactions with her father that left a mark on her. Seeing how Hua has changed from the past into the present, finding people that she can openly love and care for. Theresa and Himeko giving her unconditional love and teaching her so much as parental figures. Even the tough love like Himeko slapping her across for face for suggesting everyone else would be better off if Mei killed herself. Kiana and Bronya relying on her and supporting her, her happiest moments being when she was at St. Freya with her family. Even during her short time at Anti-Entropy, Tesla was very kind to her. See the few examples of love that appeared in the Previous Era and realize THAT'S what they're fighting for in the real world.
I forget where it was stated, but I think it was Otto who said that the Current Era has come to a better understanding of what it means to be human and I really like that idea. Herrschers are more capable of being human than some people. That being human and defeating the Honkai isn't based on plans that kill nearly everyone on Earth or making decisions for the people of the future. It's not "PURGE THE HONKAI" as the PE was so fond of saying, it's "Fight for everything beautiful in the world."
With Elysia as the antagonist it doesn't even necessarily need to end in a boss fight against her or anything. But make Mei decide for herself that what she is going to fight for, she isn't "perfect" like Elysia but her love is genuine and she has a deeper understanding than Elysia ever could. She can carry on the memories of the Previous Era, not of all the fighting and plans but of the love people tried to show each other. A rejection of what everything the Previous Era stood for.
Have Mei leave the Realm and World Serpent, not because Kevin said "okay you can go now" but to abandon them to be with the people she truly cares about and believes in because that is what is important now. Maybe have her come to their aid when it's explicitly against WS's interests.
THEN Mei can take Elysia's place as Herrscher of Human/Origin because she truly understands what it means to love people unlike Elysia. How Kiana's arc is learning to accept love and loving herself, have Mei's arc be learning to love the world again.
Also do none of the retconning in chapter 34. Make everything they are doing in the Current Era their own decisions, their own plans. They are supposed to be overcoming Project Stigma through their own determination and knowledge, not because this was the real purpose of Project EMBER. Also just let the Will of the Honkai be something the Previous Era inflicted on the Current Era while tampering with it, not "we were making it easier for the CE the whole time". The Current Era's victory over the Honkai has to be their own.
I'll be first to admit, I haven't thought much into how it's play out and definitely should have more to do with Elysia, the realm is named for her and it's her big secret at the center of it all. You could still pull this off with making Elysia suffer so much for having so much genuine love for everyone in a loveless world or a million other ways. Just not, Elysia decided the future for the Herrschers and everything the CE is doing is actually a PE plan.

The reason why Su-Won chose to kill Il on Yona’s birthday
Dunno if I made a similar post before (I’ll check) but if we’re going by the whole notion that Su-Won wasn’t going to “put up Yona’s box” aka prioritize her, then I am guessing that he chose her birthday as it was the only day that guaranteed to kill Il for whatever reason. Like perhaps it was the most efficient way to go about it… and regardless of that day being Yona’s birthday, he didn’t prioritize that.
BECAUSE MY DUDE WAS BLOODTHIRSTY ABOVE ALL ELSE
Honestly this is still for vengeance over everything. Like in ch 197, if you recall, Su-Won tells Yon-Hi:
Tumblr media
He could have literally made Il step down without killing him. Dude wanted to personally stab him that night and carelessly left the door open thinking Yona wouldn’t walk in, and he was wrong and then he had to chase her and Hak which risked his entire reign……..
His reasoning is so dumb tho too. He’s like “I cannot prioritize Yona, must make efficient decisions or else country ruined”
Tumblr media
But what he really fails to realize is how his biases towards his dad were already coloring his view - he couldn’t fathom that NOT killing Il might have been a lot more efficient than getting revenge… seriously think about it. Killing Il antagonized his friends and allies, whereas forcing him to step down without making enemies (ex: Hak who wants him dead 💀 and the Wind Tribe that was willing to rebel) is literally more efficient.
I just don’t get it. Like if Soo-Won wanted revenge, just force the bastard off the throne and make him watch you marry his kid against his wishes with everyone else supporting it just to spite him. Like that is already more efficient enough and unites tribes.
But noooo, he had to chose the unnecessarily violent path that puts the nation in danger.
Even Judo is telling him to get off his bullshit because he is not acting for the country at all, he is a very hypocritical man:
Tumblr media
Yeah, he was overcome with sentiment.
So hypocritical. To Su-Won, anything Yu-Hon does is right and efficient and good for the country and anything related Yona does is “inefficient and prioritizing one person over everything else” and it’s literally the opposite which he only started realizing slowly this arc which is fucking hilarious
like when he tried to kill Mei-Nyan cause “Il killed daddy” to the point of forgetting his mother’s pain:
Tumblr media
(Note once again he is trying to separate Yona from the situation) but SHE had to remind him of HIS mom:
Tumblr media
And for instance Geun-tae saving Yona:
Tumblr media
He’s all “I have chosen” (we know he hasn’t) and it’s Geuntae this time who shows him that he’s being an idiotic daddy’s boy:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And he goes against Su-Won to help Yona out.
Tumblr media
“As father taught me” - WHAT A DADDY'S BOY.
Your father taught you not only how to eliminate enemies, but HOW to make enemies dude…. like yes there are times when making enemies is inevitable but you just made enemies for the heck of it….. which is so dumb….
Tumblr media
Again he realized this only this arc.
Seriously speaking too, I don’t even Yu-Hon even wanted his brother dead. Like even someone as twisted as Yu-Hon killed Kashi to protect Il, and he never raised his sword against him either. Which is why I wonder what his reaction would be if he knew Su-Won killed him…
You killed Il not because you had to, but because you wanted to. Let’s make that clear.
The story blurs the lines and people get confused all the time, but no one is changing my mind on this. He put his personal desire of revenge through stabbing over just making Il step down…. Taking that throne may have been for the country, but that stabbing was for personal revenge.
